FAITH MUSONDA’S LAWYER TO CHALLENGE CLIENT’S ONE-MONTH PRISON SENTENCE

FAITH MUSONDA’S LAWYER TO CHALLENGE CLIENT’S ONE-MONTH PRISON SENTENCE

JOURNALIST and businesswoman Faith Musonda’s lawyer, Charles Changano, has disclosed intentions to appeal the one-month simple prison sentence imposed on his client for idle and disorderly conduct.

On Monday, Acting Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Irene Wishimanga sentenced Ms. Musonda to one-month simple imprisonment and a fine of K24 for idle and disorderly conduct.

Ms. Musonda was found guilty of attempting to force her way into Community House, President Hakainde Hichilema’s residence, to meet the First Lady, on 2nd July 2025, between 00:30 and 01:00 hours.

But Mr. Changano has described the sentence as harsh, expressing shock that the court imposed both a fine and imprisonment.

He argued that the law does not provide for simultaneous fining and sentencing, particularly for first-time offenders, hence intentions to appeal to the Supreme Court, citing concerns about the precedent set by the sentence and its potential impact on plea bargaining cases.

SA CASE HAS DAMAGED ZAMBIA’S IMAGE

SA CASE HAS DAMAGED ZAMBIA’S IMAGE

ZAMBIANS are watching in disbelief how President Hakainde Hichilema is willfully creating serious divisions in the country and now the region, Dr Lawrence Mwelwa has said.

Dr Mwelwa cited the United Party for National Development government’s decision to sue late former president Edgar Lungu’s family and the South African government in the Pretoria High Court over the repatriation of the remains.

In an article titled ‘There Is More Dignity in Letting Go Than in Clinging to a Losing Fight’ Dr Mwelwa questioned whether there was any wisdom left in the UPND administration to continue fighting for the repatriation of Lungu’s remains to Zambia.

“The President, his Cabinet and the legal apparatus that engineered this sad affair must acknowledge the error, withdraw the case and restore dignity. If not for themselves, then for the grieving family and the nation watching in disbelief,” he said.

Dr Mwelwa, a Zambian writer, entrepreneur, academic and politician said every moment the State continued to litigate against a widow chipped away not only at public sympathy but also at the moral authority of the government itself.

“The government’s recent admission in a foreign court that it denied the former president access to medical care abroad based on the suspicion that he would use the trip for “political purposes” has stripped away the last shreds of legal and ethical justification,” Dr Mwelwa said.

He said government’s handling of Lungu’s funeral was a breach of human decency and a stain on Zambia’s image within the international community.

“What are we defending now? That a man we denied treatment should still be buried according to the rules of those who denied him? That the widow of a man we failed to protect should now kneel before us for permission to grieve and to bury? We must ask ourselves, what kind of justice is this?” Dr Mwelwa said.

Lungu died on June 5 in Pretoria, South Africa but his remains are yet to be buried because of a bitter standoff between the Zambian government over control of the funeral.

The Zambian government has sued Lungu’s widow, his children and others in the South Africa High Court seeking an order for the body to be handed over to the government for a state burial at home.

Cut Ties With Chabinga: Hichilema Must Face the Chabinga Scandal Head-On!

A leaked audio linking State House to cross-border corruption threatens to plunge Zambia into a diplomatic crisis with South Africa – unless Hichilema takes a swift, transparent action to restore public trust and regional credibility.

By Mpandashalo Mwewa.

Lusaka, July 21 – President Hakainde Hichilema now finds himself at the edge of a diplomatic precipice, with the leaked Chabinga audio exposing a cross-border corruption scandal that threatens to drag Zambia into an avoidable confrontation with South Africa. This is no longer conjecture or partisan conjecture – it is a credible and damning revelation that places State House at the epicentre of a brewing international disgrace.

When we first questioned the President’s ill-advised attempt to sue South Africa’s Minister of International Relations, it was dismissed as hatred. In truth, it was a warning – an alert to the erosion of Zambia’s diplomatic decorum and rule of law. Today, the Chabinga audio vindicates our warnings and lays bare a pattern of State House actions that reek of desperation and betrayal of constitutional integrity.

This scandal is not just a black eye for Hichilema’s administration – it is a national shame with the potential to redefine Zambia’s image across the SADC region. A country once revered for its principled foreign policy and moral clarity is now teetering toward becoming a case study in executive overreach and cross-border misconduct. The failure to act decisively could trigger lasting diplomatic fallout, economic ramifications, and regional isolation.

Zambians must speak – not with stones, but with moral clarity and civic courage. This moment calls for defenders of democracy, not defenders of power. For journalism to remain a cornerstone of our democracy, it must expose rot, not perfume it. The truth must not be buried under accusations of bitterness or tribal allegiance. A nation’s honour is not protected by silence, but by accountability.

Ultimately, President Hichilema must accept full responsibility. He cannot shield himself with spin doctors or scapegoat advisors. He is the custodian of Zambia’s national dignity. If he fails to address the Chabinga scandal with the urgency and transparency it demands, he will not only forfeit the trust of the people – but also Zambia’s standing in the eyes of the international community. The time to act is now.

Politics is tricky in opposition . They are busy scoring own goals and celebrating them ;

You can’t be John , Thomas , Mary and Moffat through various social media accounts and then allow the social media accounts to celebrate  as different  people when they are controlled  by one person .

Then you  expect four votes from the four accounts on the voting day , only to end  up with-one vote because John can’t be Mary , Thomas and Moffat on the voting day .

Get your manifesto and inform people what you are offering , UPND is busy addressing the remaining challenges and we are now heading towards an economy growing at 6% , with inflation reducing, bumper harvest through policy shifts leading to reduced mealie meal prices .

Increased exports arising from revamped mining activities , creating jobs and growing SMEs .

With the dead opposition  ,you  are busy laughing at your own lies and celebrating them at your own peril because you are not even sure who to field in ahead of 2026 elections.

We are busy supporting more economic initiatives , through cash for work, extra-ordinary socal -cash transfer , recruiting thousands of youths and assessing bottlenecks in CDF to properly manage the facilities to benefit citizens.

FINANCIAL ANALYST SAYS PRICES ON GOODS EXPECTED TO DROP BY MID-AUGUST

FINANCIAL ANALYST SAYS PRICES ON GOODS EXPECTED TO DROP BY MID-AUGUST

Financial Analyst, Yusuf Dodia, has projected that prices of goods and services in Zambia will begin to decline by mid-August, following the continued appreciation of the kwacha against major convertible currencies.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Dodia explained that price reductions typically lag behind currency movements by about a month, meaning the effects of the kwacha’s recent gains should begin reflecting on the market soon.

“The kwacha started appreciating in June and if this trend is sustained through the end of July, there should be a drop in prices around mid-August,” said Mr. Dodia.

He added that the kwacha’s performance plays a crucial role in determining the cost of imported goods, and a stronger local currency eases inflationary pressure on the economy.

Mr. Dodia emphasized the need for consistent economic policies and market stability to ensure that the benefits of a stronger currency translate into real savings for consumers.

Obsessed and Possessed, Shishuwa’s Descent into Political Irrelevance

Obsessed and Possessed, Shishuwa’s Descent into Political Irrelevance

By Abuild Mubanga

Dr. Sishuwa Shishuwa has once again emerged from the shadows of his political bitterness to launch yet another baseless and venomous attack on President Hakainde Hichilema, this time over the burial arrangements of the late President Edgar Lungu.

His latest write-up, shamefully disguised as analysis, is not only riddled with wild conspiracy theories and outright lies but also smacks of academic dishonesty and personal vendetta. What Shishuwa has published is not scholarship; it is hallucination, fiction, and unrestrained mouth diarrhoea.

Shishuwa’s pathological obsession with demonising President Hichilema has reached embarrassing levels. Without providing credible evidence, he accuses the President of orchestrating a three-pronged scheme involving the Catholic Church,y manufactured protests, and judicial bribery , all in an attempt to secure Lungu’s body.

This is not analysis; it is tabloid-style gossip peddled by a man who seems intoxicated by his hatred for the President and blind to reason.

Let us be clear: the President has consistently shown restraint, dignity, and leadership in the wake of this complex and sensitive matter.

Contrary to Shishuwa’s allegations, it was the Lungu family that chose to politicise a funeral, not the government. The State has merely sought clarity on the legal, logistical, and constitutional questions involved in the burial of a former head of state. That is not just a government’s right, it is its duty.

To accuse President Hichilema of trying to bribe a South African judge without a shred of proof is not only reckless, it is criminal defamation. Shishuwa, in his academic arrogance, forgets that wild allegations must be backed by hard evidence.

His sources are conveniently unnamed, his facts are suspiciously aligned with PF propaganda, and his tone is unmistakably bitter.

Furthermore, his attack on the Catholic Church’s role reveals his desperation. The ZCCB, like any responsible institution, has called for peace and unity.

To suggest that the Church is being manipulated simply because it does not parrot Shishuwa’s agenda is to insult one of the few moral voices left in our national discourse.

Dr. Shishuwa must be reminded that there is a thin line between academic freedom and academic abuse. His continued use of inflammatory language, speculative fiction, and political bias undermines whatever remains of his professional credibility. He is no longer an objective commentator,he is a political activist masquerading as a scholar.

Zambians deserve better than self-serving intellectuals who pour fuel on sensitive matters for attention and relevance. The death of President Lungu is a national tragedy that should unite, not divide, us.

But for Shishuwa, it is just another opportunity to spew hatred against a President who has refused to bend to elite manipulation.

Enough is enough. It is time for Shishuwa to put aside his bitterness and recognise that Zambia is no longer a playground for political deception. President Hichilema was elected on a mandate of integrity and reform.

His handling of the Lungu matter, despite intense provocation, shows he remains committed to that path.

In the end, no amount of hallucination will turn falsehood into fact. As for Dr. Shishuwa, the more he writes, the clearer it becomes: his pen is no longer guided by truth, but by a dangerous compulsion to scandalise and mislead. Zambia deserves facts, not fantasies.

SICHINGA URGES ECZ TO HOLD INCLUSIVE DIALOGUE AHEAD OF 2026 ELECTIONS

SICHINGA URGES ECZ TO HOLD INCLUSIVE DIALOGUE AHEAD OF 2026 ELECTIONS

By: Sun FM TV Reporter

Kabushi Constituency aspiring candidate, Tilus Sichinga, has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to engage all political parties and relevant stakeholders in meaningful dialogue before making key decisions leading up to the upcoming by-elections and the 2026 general elections.

Mr. Sichinga emphasized that heightened political activity often brings rising tensions among competing parties and their supporters, warning that a lack of inclusive consultation could lead to unnecessary conflict and perceptions of bias.

He expressed concern over recent actions involving the banning of political parties without prior engagement, arguing that such moves undermine democratic principles, stating that it is imperative that all stakeholders are brought to the table for open and constructive dialogue.

Despite his concerns, he commended the government for creating a peaceful political climate ahead of the by-elections, noting that such efforts lay a solid foundation for credible and calm general elections.

He further stated that Zambia has long been known for its peace, and moving forward, national unity and the spirit of One Zambia, One Nation should guide political and civic actions.

Wife impregnated by another asks hubby to prove fertility by impregnating another woman

Wife impregnated by another asks hubby to prove fertility by impregnating another woman

A SEVEN-YEAR-LONG ‘childless’ marriage has reached a breaking point for a couple in Lusaka’s Kabanana area, as a wife’s yearning for a child to call her mum has pushed her away from husband, requesting to search of a more fertile seed sower.

According to the wife, Linet Kazembe aged 28, her husband 30-year-old Tyson Siamatanda’s baby making juice is not that strong to fertilise her eggs.

She revealed that when they went on separation another man who seems to have had a more powerful instrument of power had fired live bullets in her fertile ground and she became pregnant, a pregnancy she miscarried after seven months.

This is in a case where Siamatanda dragged his wife, Kazembe to the Matero Local Court to seek reconciliation, citing disputes in their marriage.

Siamatanda and Kazembe once shared a blissful marriage that stood strong despite their lack of children, however with Kazembe’s increasing age and growing anxiety over her childlessness, the once steadfast union has been rocked by her pleas for Tyson to let her seek another path that could grant her the family she longs for.

According to Kazembe she suffered severe vaginal sores each time she and her husband engaged in marital intimacy.

Kazembe testified that she once endured a month-long period of abnormal vaginal bleeding which prompted her to seek medical attention at the Zambia National Service hospital, where she was informed that the cause of her problem was her husband, Siamatanda’s low sperm count.

“I started making unnecessary trips just so that we could spend some time apart because I realised that if we kept having sex, I would only continue to suffer emotionally. It was like every time we got intimate, I would be reminded of what I couldn’t have, so I tried to distance myself,” she stated.

“It became impossible for me to keep talking to him about our infertility issues because whenever I tried to bring it up, he would lose his temper, so I stopped. Besides, every time we were intimate, the problem persisted, causing me more pain.”

She confessed that during one of her separations with Tyson, she found herself in a relationship with another man from Livingstone and became pregnant.

“I told my parents about it, but they insisted that I reunite with Tyson and I did. It was only after four months of being back with him that I realised I was pregnant,” she said.

She stated that Tyson initially believed that the pregnancy was his, but she had to tell him the truth and suggested that he should try to impregnate another woman to see if he was the one with fertility problems.

“It was a difficult conversation, but I needed him to understand that our issue might not be entirely my fault.”

She also explained that this problem started when she married Tyson because before their marriage, she was perfectly healthy.

Kazembe further expressed her despair over the future of her marriage, questioning whether their relationship could be salvaged in the aftermath of their numerous challenges.

And Tyson acknowledged that the inability to conceive a child with his wife had placed an unbearable burden on their marriage, ultimately driving Kazembe to seek for divorce and pursue a path towards motherhood with another man.

“I love my wife so much and I want nothing more than to reconcile. This has caused me so much pain, and I hope she can see that we can still find a way to be happy together. I plead with her to reconsider her decision,” he said.

Presiding over the case, Senior magistrate Lewis Mumba observed that both sought medical assistance separately rather than tackling this problem together hence, this has intensified their issues and driven them further apart.

He cautioned that when two people marry, they become one flesh and this means that both must work together to face challenges and to become stronger.

“But it seems that the foundation of your marriage was not strong enough to withstand these struggles. It’s tragic to hear that your wife has refused reconciliation because she believes she can’t manage this situation anymore,” he said.

“You see, when you were facing these problems, you missed an important step. It takes two to tango as they say. By not seeking counseling together, you missed an opportunity to work through these issues as a team, to support each other, and to find a way forward,” he asserted.

Magistrate Mumba said that while the court’s purpose is to assist couples in finding common ground and resolution, ultimately it cannot force one to remain married.

“Since one of you feels that you can no longer continue in this marriage, then the only solution is to seek a divorce, either parties to sue for divorce,” added the magistrate…https://kalemba.news/…/wife-impregnated-by-another…/

ALEXANDER MUMBA SAKALA TAKES ACTION ON WATER CRISIS IN CHUNGA

ALEXANDER MUMBA SAKALA TAKES ACTION ON WATER CRISIS IN CHUNGA

As the cry for clean and reliable water grows louder in Matero’s Chunga area, UPND Matero Constituency aspiring Member of Parliament, Alexander Mumba Sakala , is answering the call—not with promises, but with real action.

Today Thursday, Sakala will deliver a 40,000-litre water tanker to Chunga in response to a plea from “Chunga Pa Top”, a grassroots organization committed to uplifting community livelihoods. This intervention aims to bring much-needed temporary water relief to hundreds of families who have endured dry taps and daily struggles.

“Leadership isn’t about waiting for a position—it’s about responding when people are in need,” said Sakala. “This is not politics. This is about people.”

Residents of Chunga have faced prolonged water shortages, affecting sanitation, health, and everyday living. Sakala’s move demonstrates a new kind of leadership—servant-leadership grounded in listening, showing up, and taking initiative.

With eyes set on the 2026 general elections, Sakala is proving that Matero deserves a leader who works before being elected, and not only after.

“We must build a Matero where every household is remembered and every voice matters,” he added. “It’s time for leadership that acts.”

As Chunga receives this vital relief, many are beginning to see what 2026 could look like—with leadership that serves, not waits.

Mnangagwa to hand over SADC chairmanship to Madagascar

The Republic of Madagascar is putting the final touches on its preparations to host the 45th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit of Heads of State and Government next month, as the island nation gears up to assume the bloc’s rotating Chairmanship from Zimbabwe.

The high-profile Summit will see President Emmerson Mnangagwa officially handing over the SADC leadership to Madagascar, which will steer the organisation for the next year, through to August 2026.

A delegation from the SADC Secretariat, led by Deputy Executive Secretary for Corporate Affairs, Dr. Judith Kateera, is currently in Madagascar to assess the country’s state of readiness ahead of the crucial meeting. In a statement, the Secretariat confirmed that the mission aims “to discuss the state of preparedness of the Republic of Madagascar for the Summit.”

The visiting team conducted site inspections at key infrastructure, including Madagascar’s main international airport and select hotels, evaluating their suitability to host Heads of State, government officials, and other dignitaries expected to attend. Feedback and guidance were provided to ensure that the facilities meet the standards required for a successful SADC event.

During the visit on July 21, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Madagascar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Rafaravavitafika Rasata. She expressed appreciation for the SADC Secretariat’s partnership in ensuring Madagascar delivers a seamless Summit.

“I commend the SADC Secretariat for their commitment and dedication in working with our country to ensure that Madagascar delivers a successful Summit,” said Minister Rasata. She reaffirmed Madagascar’s readiness and determination to host the regional event to the highest standards.

Dr. Kateera expressed satisfaction with the preparations observed so far.

“I am grateful for the good work put into preparations for the Summit,” she said. “We are confident that Madagascar is ready to deliver a successful event.”

The delegation is also expected to meet with Madagascar’s Minister of Finance to fine-tune logistical and financial planning ahead of the Summit.

This year’s Summit carries added significance as Madagascar prepares to take over the SADC Chairmanship, a central feature of the annual gathering where regional leaders discuss and adopt key strategies to advance regional integration, peace, and economic development across Southern Africa.

As is tradition, the Summit will be preceded by a meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers, tasked with preparing and clearing the working documents that will shape the agenda for the Heads of State and Government.

With just weeks to go, Madagascar appears poised to welcome the region, confident in its preparations and eager to lead the 16-member bloc into its next phase of cooperation and development.

Drake Gives Fans A Tour Of His New & Improved Private Jet

Drake has given fans a virtual tour of his new and improved private jet.

The 6 God has owned the plane since 2019 and has recently renovated the Boeing 767 which would cost $185 million.

Narrating a video showing off the jet, Drake says: “When I first got my plane, I was in this hangar. It’s, like, probably one of the craziest moments of my life. I actually didn’t believe it until AJ told me, ‘I’m gonna get you the biggest jet in the game out of anybody, like, it’d be like you and the president, that’s it.”

The virtual tour included Drake showing off the bedrooms, complete with en suite as well as a luxury living room area, a place to gamble as well as its own cinema.

Drake last showed off the plane in 2021 which seats 30 and is more like a hotel than jet.

Drake was previously mocked by Rick Ross over the state of his plane.

“White boy, white boy, white boy; crodie, crodie, crodie,” Ross said on Instagram. “Do they even have WiFi on that cargo plane? He may not even heard this yet, but look, white boy, I know we not friends but let me give you this advice ’cause you ain’t got nobody ’round you or you ain’t got no real n-ggas ’round you, let me just put it like that.”

Ross also has his own private jet, a Gulfstream G550, with him explaining why he made the extravagant purchase.

“I spent maybe six months looking at different planes,” he began. “I knew, okay, I need this G550 — that’s what I need right here. My budget was nice. I’m going to keep it real, we had to have it.”

The Miami native then pointed out some of his favorite details and amenities in the aircraft’s interior, which include custom-made Louis Vuitton blankets and a kitchen setup, among other things.

He continued: “When it came to my decision of me purchasing the G550, my plane, it was only based on one thing — ultimately, me tripling my wealth. That was ultimately the plan in the conversation when I spoke to some of my counterparts, some guys that I’m in business with.

“It was most definitely based on me being able to get more things accomplished in a different format — something that was much more easier on myself. Y’know, just time being much more valuable, time meaning much more to me.”

Keith McAllister sustained serious injuries when he was pulled into an MRI machine by his necklace and eventually died as a result of his wounds, according to Nassau County Police. The accident occurred on the afternoon of July 16 at the Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, Long Island.

Adrienne Jones-McAllister, his wife, recently described the terrifying incident of her husband being pulled into an MRI machine to News12 Long Island. She explained that she had an MRI on her knee and needed assistance getting up on the day of the tragic incident. She asked that the technician call her husband to assist her in getting off the table.

Even though her husband was wearing his 20-pound chain, which Jones-McAllister claimed he used for weight training, the technician went to fetch him and let him into the room.

She explained that this was not the first time she and her husband had visited Nassau Open MRI, and he had previously worn the chain there.

“That was not the first time that guy has seen that chain. They had a conversation about it before,” she told News12 Long Island.

According to Jones-McAllister, she watched her 61-year-old husband approach the table and saw the machine “snatch him.”

“At that instant, the machine switched him around, pulled him in, and he hit the MRI,” Jones-McAllister recalled. She stated that she and the technician attempted to remove her spouse from the machine.

“I’m saying, ‘Could you turn off the machine? Call 911. Do something. Turn this damn thing off!’”

The grieving widow said he suffered several heart attacks following the incident and later died.

“He went limp in my arms, and this is still pulsating in my brain,” she lamented.

In Nassau County police reports, they noted that the man’s entry to the room “while the scan was in progress” was not authorized. The investigation is ongoing, police said, according to CNN.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, MRI machines have magnetic fields that will attract magnetic objects of all size—keys, mobile phones and even oxygen tanks—which “may cause damage to the scanner or injury to the patient or medical professionals if those objects become projectiles.”

Drake responds to the crowd chanting “F*ck Kendrick” at his Birmingham concert

Drake’s fans clearly haven’t forgotten about his fiery feud with Kendrick Lamar, as evidenced by their behavior during a recent show.

It’s been over a year since Kendrick Lamar and Drake went head to head in one of the most explosive lyrical battles in recent memory, and evidently, fans have not forgotten. In a new clip shared by the NFR Podcast on X, the Canadian hitmaker is seen onstage during a show in Birmingham while the audience chants “f*ck Kendrick.”

After a while, Drake interrupted the chants to let the crowd know that they’re on the same page. “Alright alright alright,” he began. “I can’t say that I don’t agree.” The battle itself might have come to an end, but the beef that started it appears to be going strong.

Kendrick won a whopping five Grammy awards for his hit diss track “Not Like Us” back in February. To make matters worse for Drizzy, he went on to perform the song during his Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans. It was the most-watched Halftime Show in history, surpassing Michael Jackson with over 133.5 million viewers.

The month prior, Drake even filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group over “Not Like Us,” accusing the company of artificially inflating its success. He submitted a lengthy witness list made up of 63 names last week. This includes UMG CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, former Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free, Kendrick’s manager Anthony Saleh, and more.

Last week, it was also reported that Drake is now going after a man named Kojo Menne Asamoah, who he believes allegedly coordinated secret payments on behalf of UMG executive Ramon Alvarez-Smikle. Reportedly, the rapper’s team has spent $75K trying to serve him a subpoena at least a dozen times, even enlisting the help of two private investigation firms. Despite searching various addresses in both California and Maryland, they’ve been unsuccessful so far.

They’ve asked the court to authorize alternative service via mail, email, and door posting as a result. The court has not yet ruled on the request.

Egypt offers free transport as Sudanese refugees begin journey back to war-torn homeland

A wave of emotion swept through Cairo’s main train station Monday as hundreds of Sudanese refugees, their bags packed tight with belongings and memories, boarded trains bound for home. After months, some more than a year, spent in exile, many are returning to a homeland still marked by destruction and uncertainty.

The Egyptian government has stepped in to provide free transportation for the journey back to Khartoum, the Sudanese capital recently retaken by the Sudanese Armed Forces. For more than a year, Khartoum had been under the control of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) following the outbreak of civil war in April 2023.

What began as a power struggle between the army and the RSF has spiraled into one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters. Over 40,000 people have died, and more than 7 million have been displaced within Sudan. Egypt alone hosts more than 1.5 million Sudanese refugees who fled across the northern border.

Khartoum, once the heart of Sudanese governance and culture, now bears the scars of relentless fighting. Landmarks such as the presidential palace and the main airport lie in ruins, while residents trickle back to neighborhoods without stable electricity or functioning public services. Still, the city is slowly stirring to life, with reopened markets and signs of resilience.

The homecoming journey is not simple. From Cairo, travelers face a 12-hour train ride south to Aswan, followed by ferries and buses across the Sudanese border, completing a grueling 2,080-kilometer (1,292-mile) return.

Inside the station, emotions ran high.

“I am happy because I am finally going back to my family and my children,” said Awatef al Hassan, a returnee from Omdurman traveling with her daughter in an AP report.

Sudanese journalist Asem al-Taieb, one of the passengers, described the moment as a mix of sorrow and relief. “Some cried with ‘overwhelming emotions’ including sadness and joy about leaving Egypt and returning home,” he said.

Fans worried as A$AP Rocky is spotted in wheelchair

A$AP Rocky sparked health concerns on Monday after TMZ published pictures of him in a wheelchair in West Hollywood. The rapper can been seen riding in the wheelchair and being helped into a yellow Hummer.

TMZ reported that he appeared “completely distressed” and was hiding his face under a blanket.

Rocky has yet to comment on the pictures but TMZ said Monday that sources told the platform that the rapper was recovering from minor dental surgery.

The worrying photos come after Rocky recently returned to the United States following his presence at Paris Fashion Week. He was also at Jonathan Anderson’s debut Dior show, and besides these two shows, Rocky joined Rihanna the world premiere of Smurfs in Brussels, Belgium.

Rihanna stars in the film as Smurfette. Others in the film, which was released in theaters in the U.S. on July 18, are Octavia Spencer, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, and Daniel Levy.

Rocky and Rihanna are currently expecting their third child together after welcoming their first son in 2022 and a second son in 2023.

Mike Lee torched after posting fake Jerome Powell resignation letter

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) was caught posting (and then deleting) what turned out to be a fake resignation letter from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. It was then promptly shared by others on the right as a bombshell. The problem, however, is the letter was clearly a phony.

Some mocked Lee for being clueless, but others pointed to obvious tells, such as typos and fake seals.

Journalist Aaron Rupar quipped, “The only conclusion I can draw is that Mike Lee is actually an idiot.”

Politico congressional reporters Jordain Carney posted on X, “Sen. Mike Lee tweeted (and appears to have deleted) what he appears to believe is a resignation letter (??) from Powell.”

Semafor political reporter David Weigel and Politico’s Ben Jacobs pointed out other errors in the fake letter.

“The typo ridden letter has now been deleted by both Benny Johnson and Senator Mike Lee,” Jacobs said.

Weigel replied, “A GOP senator not being able to spot a fake, loaded with typos… good stuff here. If you really think you’re going to scoop the Bloomberg terminal on a Powell move, get psychological help.”

Veteran and lawyer John Jackson similarly pointed out Lee’s ignorance. “Mike Lee is an idiot. He just fell for this fake letter of Jerome Powell resigning.”

Democratic Party staffer Matt Rein zeroed in on the “official” seal in the letter, showing the absurdity.

Influencer and commentator Boston Smalls, jeered on X, “For a senator. This is extremely embarrassing. I mean, Mike Lee is a complete toilet fish, but this is just another level.”

Washington Post opinions editor Benjy Sarlin posted a screen capture of the Dow Jones after one person pointed out it wasn’t smart to post about “market moving news without verifing it.”

“It’s funny that day traders, who frequently panic sell off viral rumors, were like ‘Oh that’s just Mike Lee, he does this all the time, ignore it,'” said Sarlin on X.

President Donald Trump has been attacking Powell for years for refusing to reduce interest rates.

Obama fires back after Trump accuses him of ‘treason’ in ‘bizarre’ post

Former President Barack Obama has responded to President Donald Trump’s allegations that he invented Russian intrusion in the 2016 election.

Trump and his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, both allege that there was no Russian hacking of the election. There were never allegations that Russians hacked voting machines; rather, the allegations were that content farms backed by Russia supported Trump’s 2016 election.

Trump alleged that Obama should be arrested and charged with “treason.”

In a response, a spokesperson for Obama released a statement noting they would normally ignore such allegations, but felt the need to step in.

“Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one,” the statement began, according to News Nation’s Kellie Meyer. “These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.”

The statement goes on to say, “Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.”

The spokesperson also said, “these findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.”

While it doesn’t mention the special counsel, an NBC report noted that Trump appointed special counsel John Durham worked for three years to investigate the Russian investigation. He also found no criminal conspiracy from the Obama administration or other intelligence officials.

Karoline Leavitt ‘not sure’ if Trump told Johnson to close Congress early over Epstein

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said she was “not sure” if President Donald Trump or anyone in his administration communicated with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) before a vote on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein documents was scuttled by canceling the final day of Congress before summer break.

Although the House was scheduled to hold votes on Thursday, Johnson moved to cut the week short as many members indicated that they would push to force the Trump administration to release files on the convicted sex offender.

“Karoline, did the White House support Speaker Johnson canceling the votes today over the Epstein, the vote over the Epstein file being released?” one reporter asked Leavitt during a Tuesday gaggle.

“I’m not sure if anyone here spoke to the Speaker about that,” the press secretary replied. “As you know, we’re always in pretty good communication with the speaker of the House.”

“But the President himself has said that if the Department of Justice has credible evidence, they should release it,” she added.

Trump admin ripped over new trade deal that’s ‘worse than we had before’

President Donald Trump touted a new trade deal with Japan on Tuesday evening, announcing the agreement on his social media platform and during White House events.

“We just completed a massive Deal with Japan, perhaps the largest Deal ever made,” Trump boasted on Truth Social. “Japan will invest, at my direction, $550 Billion Dollars into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits.”

Trump claimed the deal would create hundreds of thousands of jobs, and that there “has never been anything like it.”

“Perhaps most importantly, Japan will open their Country to Trade including Cars and Trucks, Rice and certain other Agricultural Products, and other things,” he added.

The president noted that Japan will pay reciprocal tariffs of 15% to the United States.

“This is a very exciting time for the United States of America, and especially for the fact that we will continue to always have a great relationship with the Country of Japan,” he concluded.

Japanese officials have not publicly commented on the terms laid out by Trump. Details about its implementation and specifics weren’t immediately known.

Critics roundly mocked the new deal.

Joey Politano, author of the economics newsletter Apricitas Economics, wrote on X, “Trump announces 15% tariffs on Japan. Another trade ‘deal’ that’s even worse than what we had before he took office.”

The popular Wu Tang is for the Children account chimed in on X, “In another effort to distract from Epstein….Trump just posted that he made a deal with Japan and they ‘will invest, at his direction, $550B into the United States, which will receive 90% of the Profits’…..yeah ok grandpa.”

Spencer Hakimian, Founder of Tolou Capital Management, wrote on X, *TRUMP TO IMPOSE 15% TARIFF ON GOODS FROM JAPAN Japan doesn’t even charge a 1% tariff on us. This is a complete joke.

Software developer Lucas Baker added, “One bad policy after another from this administration. Future historians will note this as the era in which the age of American hegemony made a rapid and irreversible decline.”

Clara Jeffery‬, editor-incChief of Mother Jones/Center for Investigative Reporting, wrote on Bluesky, “Prediction: Japanese consumers don’t want our cars, trucks, or rice.”

Jeffery added in a follow-up post a gif of a confused John Travolta, which comes from a scene in the 1994 film “Pulp Fiction” directed by Quentin Tarantino. She captioned the post,: “‘where are the Japanese buyers for our s—ty gas cars?'”

She noted that China has electric vehicles that “eliminate range anxiety, cost like $11,000, are cool AF, and literally dance.”

“Japanese consumers are not going to pop for a Buick. This is why the Big Three (and labor, too) fighting for status quo rather than future is so short-sighted.”

US introduces new work permit fees effective July 22

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced new and increased fees for several immigration applications, including asylum and employment authorisation, under the H.R. 1 Reconciliation Bill.

The changes take effect from July 22, 2025.

According to a Federal Register notice issued on July 18, 2025, all immigration forms postmarked on or after July 22 must include the updated fees.

Submissions that do not comply with the new fee structure will be rejected from August 21, USCIS said.

Key changes include the introduction of a $100 fee for Form I-589, used to apply for asylum and withholding of removal. In addition, applicants with pending asylum cases will be required to pay a $100 Annual Asylum Fee (AAF) each calendar year while their application remains undecided.

USCIS also announced revised fees for Form I-765, which is used to apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Initial EAD applications will now cost $550, while renewals or extensions will be charged $275. A separate $275 fee applies to EADs filed after approval of re-parole via Form I-131.

A new $250 fee now applies to applicants filing Form I-360 under the Special Immigrant Juvenile category. Meanwhile, the fee for registering for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) using Form I-821 has increased tenfold, from $50 to $500.

The USCIS clarified that the new H.R. 1-related fees are separate from existing USCIS fees and are not eligible for fee waivers.

“These additional fees are required by statute and cannot be waived, regardless of an applicant’s eligibility for a USCIS fee waiver,” the agency said.

For asylum applications filed after October 1, 2024, USCIS said applicants will be required to pay the AAF beginning on the one-year anniversary of their filing date and annually thereafter, for as long as the application remains pending.

The new rule also affects the validity periods of work permits. Under the updated policy, EADs issued to parolees will not exceed one year or the duration of parole, whichever is shorter. TPS beneficiaries will also receive work permits valid for a maximum of one year or the length of their TPS designation.

Additional fee adjustments for other forms—including Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document) and Form I-102 (Application for Replacement/Initial Nonimmigrant Arrival-Departure Document)—will be announced later, USCIS said.

ZESA To Install Cameras On 47 000 Transformers Across Zimbabwe

47 000 Transformers To Be Watched By Cameras In Zesa Crackdown
In one of the most ambitious security upgrades in its history, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has begun rolling out a nationwide surveillance programme that will see 47 000 transformers fitted with cameras, alarms, and sensors. The move is designed to combat rampant vandalism and theft targeting critical electricity infrastructure across Zimbabwe.

The bold plan, being implemented in collaboration with Powertel Communications, marks a dramatic shift in how ZETDC monitors and protects its power network.

“The ZETDC through Powertel is implementing transformer anti-intrusion systems where transformers are installed with cameras, alarms, and sensors that allow real-time monitoring,” announced Nick Mangwana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information.

“The programme is currently targeting 47 000 transformers, with installation at 108 monitoring sites having been successfully completed.”

Real-Time Eyes On Every Transformer

The surveillance rollout means ZETDC will now be able to remotely monitor transformers in real time, enabling quicker responses to sabotage attempts and theft. This is a major technological leap for the parastatal, which has historically relied on post-incident inspections and public tip-offs.

The anti-intrusion systems will allow dispatch teams to receive alerts instantly when transformers are tampered with. The inclusion of cameras ensures that any suspicious activity can be captured on video, which may be used as evidence in prosecutions.

In a statement posted on X, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services confirmed:

“The nation is advised that the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) through Powertel, is implementing transformer and anti-intrusion systems where transformers are installed with camera alarms and sensors that allow real-time monitoring of transformers.”

Fighting Vandalism With Technology
ZETDC has lost millions of US dollars due to transformer theft, copper cable vandalism, and unauthorised tampering with its grid. According to previous reports, some suburbs have gone without power for weeks because of damaged or stolen transformers.

The new tech-driven plan is aimed at reversing that trend.

“Electricity system vandals are on notice,” warned Nick Mangwana in a separate post on X. “This is not business as usual.”

Authorities believe the system will deter criminal syndicates who, in the past, have operated with relative impunity. There has been no official statement on when the installation of the remaining transformer units will be completed or how the rollout will be phased by province.

However, the Ministry said the programme is already in motion, with hundreds of units being fitted each week. The scope and scale of the operation make it one of the most extensive infrastructure surveillance efforts in Zimbabwe’s recent history.

Trump accuses Obama of treason

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused former U.S president, Barack Obama, of “treason” citing a controversial report that alleges Obama-era officials manipulated intelligence on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The claim stems from a new report forwarded by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard to the Justice Department. The report accuses Obama’s administration of orchestrating a “treasonous conspiracy” by allegedly fabricating intelligence to suggest Russia interfered in the election to benefit Trump.

According to Gabbard, the supposed fabrication laid the groundwork for what she described as a “years-long coup” attempt against Trump. However, this narrative contradicts the conclusions of multiple official investigations — including four criminal, counterintelligence, and watchdog probes conducted between 2019 and 2023 — which unanimously confirmed that Russia did interfere in the 2016 election in support of Trump.

It’s there, he’s guilty. This was treason,” Trump said on Tuesday,. “They tried to steal the election, they tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever imagined, even in other countries.”

When asked during a press briefing with visiting Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos who should be prosecuted, Trump responded:

“Based on what I read — and I read pretty much what you read — it would be President Obama. He started it.”

Trump, who recently drew criticism for sharing an AI-generated video depicting Obama being arrested, also named other former officials as part of the alleged conspiracy. These included Joe Biden, then Vice President; James Comey, former FBI Director; James Clapper, former Director of National Intelligence; and John Brennan, former CIA Director.

He claimed Obama was the “leader of the gang” and guilty of “treason.”

Despite Trump’s repeated claims that the investigations into Russian interference were politically motivated and amounted to a “hoax,” bipartisan findings have said otherwise. Notably, a 2020 Senate Intelligence Committee report — led by then-acting Chairman Marco Rubio, now Trump’s Secretary of State concluded that Trump’s 2016 campaign actively sought to exploit leaks of Democratic documents obtained by Russian military hackers.

The committee wrote:

“It is our conclusion… that the Russian intelligence services’ assault on the integrity of the 2016 U.S. electoral process, and Trump and his associates’ participation in and enabling of this Russian activity, represents one of the single most grave counter

American rapper Cash Out has been sentenced to life in prison

American rapper Cash Out has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty in his Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) and s£xual ass@ult case.

Cash Out, born John Gibson, was found guilty last Friday in his Atlanta trial. He has now been sentenced to life in prison for his r@pe charge as well as an additional 70 years for RICO and his other convictions. These charges include racketeering, s£x trafficking, firearm possession, and other related offences, according to WSB-TV Atlanta. The sentences will be concurrent.

Gibson’s mother, Linda Smith, also received 30 years, 20 for racketeering and 10, served concurrently, for s£x trafficking.

His cousin, Tyrone Taylor, was sentenced to life for aggravated sodomy and rape, plus 60 years for s£x trafficking, ass@ult, false imprisonment, and drug possession.

All three will be placed on the s£x offenders register and prohibited from contacting any victims in the future or returning to areas related to their crimes. This includes Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

Charges were first brought against Gibson in June 2023.

At the time, his lawyers argued that the victims were bullied into testifying by authorities.

But, during the trial, it has been argued that Gibson attempted to silence witnesses with the help of his mother.

The jury was shown interrogation footage of Smith from 2021, filmed after she had been taken into custody at a physical therapy clinic.

She denied any wrongdoing in the video, saying she had visited the facility to look for her friend who had skipped a probation appointment.

But in a series of phone calls played to the court, Gibson could be heard instructing his mother to find the missing woman.

‘I mean, y’all acting like I done kidnapped her,’ Smith is believed to have said during questioning.

However, prosecutors have maintained that Gibson engaged in a ‘seven-year reign of terror’.

The She Twerkin’ hitmaker’s trial then began two months ago after he, Smith, and Taylor were accused of coercing and forcing women into sex.

Prosecutors said that these women were exploited for profit and that Gibson used his star status to pursue the crimes. This included the trio using their record company, Pyrez Music Group, to entice and recruit young women.

They were accused of telling the women they would receive financial rewards and increased positions of power in the company in return.

While testifying, one witness reported that she was only given food if she performed s£x acts for money.

Fulton County prosecutor Earnell Winfrey told the court: ‘This ain’t just straight pimping—this is trafficking.’

Ahead of his sentencing, Gibson said he thought the jurors ‘made the wrong judgment’ by finding him guilty, maintaining his innocence.

He also claimed that all the women were of legal age and consented to their treatment.

Meanwhile, key evidence presented in the case included text messages from eight different mobile phones, showing a trail of their activities.

The messages are believed to have documented their illegal operations and the coordination between the three defendants.

Enraged Trump hangs up on CNN reporter over new Epstein photos

Trump raged at a CNN reporter who was asking him for comment about a bombshell report on his ties to deceased financier and child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and hung up without answering, CNN reported.

CNN’s KFILE obtained footage of Trump and Epstein palling around that had not been previously known, including Epstein attending Trump’s wedding to Marla Maples in 1993, and the two of them laughing and palling around at the runway of a Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 1999.

But Trump was unwilling to discuss any of this.

“In a brief call with CNN on Tuesday, President Trump, asked about the wedding photos, responded, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’ before repeatedly calling CNN ‘fake news’ and hanging up,” reported Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck.

Furthermore, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, renowned for his colorful attacks on the press, said, “These are nothing more than out-of-context frame grabs of innocuous videos and pictures of widely attended events to disgustingly infer something nefarious. The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep. This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media.”

This is only the latest in a series of revelations about just how close Trump and Epstein’s friendship was. A Wall Street Journal report last week, which triggered a libel lawsuit from Trump, detailed how he allegedly sent Epstein a lewd birthday letter in 2003 containing a drawing of a naked woman and the words, “May every day be another wonderful secret.”

It also comes as the Trump administration fights growing bipartisan anger, including from die-hard members of the MAGA base, over a perceived lack of willingness to release files on the Epstein case, despite Attorney General Pam Bondi having promised full transparency and the production of a supposed “client list” of rich and powerful co-conspirators.

‘Court would laugh you out’: Trump dared to make good on Obama ‘treason’ claim

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) called President Donald Trump out for his latest allegations that President Barack Obama committed treason.

Trump was speaking in the Oval Office on Tuesday with the president of the Philippines when he suddenly went off on a tangent about the “Russia hoax,” which he said was invented by Obama as an excuse to spy on him.

“It’s the most unbelievable thing I think I’ve ever read. So you ought to take a look at that and stop talking about nonsense,” Trump told reporters, urging them to stop talking about the Jeffrey Epstein documents.

Obama’s office issued a rare rebuke of the comments, calling them a “distraction.”

Himes told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace that if Trump is serious, where are the prosecutions?

“Four weeks from now or five weeks from now or six weeks from now, we all need to ask the question. And I will certainly ask the question, which is, okay, the president, the former president, is a traitor. Where is the Department of Justice indictment?” Himes asked. “Where is the prosecution of Barack Obama? But it will be Epstein all over again. Because four or five weeks from now, there will, of course, be no prosecution of Barack Obama because there’s not a court in the land that would do anything other than laugh, the DOJ and the prosecutors out of the room.”

He also pointed out that these allegations have another purpose and that is to gin up rage from Trump’s base.

“I’ve been trying to tell the truth about this ever since Tulsi put out this staggeringly disprovable and instantly disprovable lie,” Himes said about the report published by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. “When you start using the kind of language — the language of treason and of somebody being a traitor, you know, some tiny percentage of the population is just crazy enough to decide that they need to do something about it.”

He said it’s what happened on Jan. 6, 2021, when a MAGA mob broke into the U.S. Capitol to stop the counting of electoral college votes and “hang Mike Pence.”

Trump book boom goes bust as sales plummet in second term

0

Americans appear to be growing tired of reading about President Donald Trump as new data shows sales for books about the president have fallen dramatically during Trump’s second term when compared to his first, Politico reported.

“[Trump] is so familiar to everyone by now, and people are less shocked by new revelations because it enforces their own ideas about who he is or they just don’t care,” an author of a recent Trump book told Politico Tuesday.

Books on Trump sold by the millions during the president’s first term; Bob Woodward’s “Fear: Trump in the White House” sold 1.1 million copies in its first week after publication, the fastest-selling book in its publisher’s history. John Bolton’s “The Room Where It Happened” sold around 780,000 in its first week, and James Comey’s “A Higher Loyalty” sold around 600,000.

Fast forward to Trump’s second stint in the White House, however, and Trump books are barely exceeding 20,000 in hardcover sales.

“Everyone is desperately looking for the next Michael Wolff or James Comey for next year, but it’s not clear there could ever be one again,” a publisher told Politico Tuesday.

Among the most successful Trump books to be published since Jan. 20 of this year has been conservative journalist Salena Zito’s “Butler: The Untold Story of the Near Assassination of Donald Trump and the Fight for America’s Heartland.” The book sold around 23,000 hardcover copies during its first week, despite Trump himself promoting the book on social media ahead of its release.

Another book from journalists Isaac Arnsdorf, Josh Dawsey and Tyler Page, “2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America,” sold around 6,000 hardcover copies in its first week, and Alex Isenstadt’s “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power” sold around 3,000.

Michael Wolff, whose 2018 book “Fire and Fury” sold more than 25,000 copies in its first week and would go on to sell close to one million, sold just 3,000 physical copies of his latest book, “All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America.”

The dwindling sales numbers have even led some publishers to pull back on enticing authors with lavish offers, at least on books in the political space.

“Editors are not spending anywhere near the amount of money that they did this time eight years ago,” said an unnamed book agent to Politico. “The days of just writing a book to write a book and checking the box for someone’s career – those days are over.”

Martin Luther King assassination files unsealed under Trump: transparency or controversy?

Decades after the 1968 assassination of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the U.S. federal government has released over 230,000 pages of previously undisclosed documents related to the case, a move initiated by President Donald Trump.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) announced the digital publication of the files on Monday, marking the first time they’ve been made available in one centralized online collection. While some documents were already accessible through Freedom of Information Act requests, this broader release offers a more comprehensive, minimally redacted view of the federal investigation.

According to ODNI, the newly digitized trove includes FBI memos tracking the case’s progress, records of investigative leads, and files involving James Earl Ray’s former cellmate, who claimed Ray discussed an assassination plot. Also included are CIA documents on the international search for Ray, who fled the U.S. after the killing but was eventually apprehended, pleaded guilty, and sentenced to 99 years in prison. Ray later recanted his confession and sought a retrial until his death in 1998.

“The American people have waited nearly sixty years to see the full scope of the federal government’s investigation into Dr. King’s assassination,” said Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in a CBS report.

In preparation for the release, ODNI stated that members of the King family were given early access to the files two weeks ago. Yet, not all family members were on board with the timeline or the manner of the disclosure.

“For us, the assassination of our father is a deeply personal family loss that we have endured over the last 56 years. We hope to be provided the opportunity to review the files as a family prior to its public release,” King’s relatives had said beforehand.

In a follow-up statement issued by the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, King’s children, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, acknowledged public interest but called for compassion.

They wrote: “We understand the records have long been a subject of interest,” but urged people to engage with them “with empathy, restraint, and respect for our family’s continued grief.”

They also took aim at the historical surveillance of King by federal agencies, particularly the FBI’s intrusive operations in the 1960s, which a later Justice Department report labeled as “very probably” illegal.

“While we support transparency and historical accountability, we object to any attacks on our father’s legacy or attempts to weaponize it to spread falsehoods,” the family noted. “Those who promote the fruit of the FBI’s surveillance will unknowingly align themselves with an ongoing campaign to degrade our father and the Civil Rights Movement.”

In contrast, King’s niece Alveda King voiced support for the disclosure, stating in the ODNI’s release: “It’s a historic step towards the truth that the American people deserve.”

The release follows Trump’s broader directive to declassify documents tied to three major political assassinations of the 1960s: President John F. Kennedy in 1963, Senator Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, and Dr. King. JFK-related files were made public in March, while RFK records began rolling out in April.

Each of these high-profile killings has remained a source of widespread speculation and conspiracy theories, with persistent doubts about whether the individuals officially held responsible truly acted alone, or at all.

In 1999, a Tennessee civil court jury in a wrongful death lawsuit concluded that King’s assassination involved Loyd Jowers and unnamed co-conspirators, “including government agencies.” Meanwhile, prior government investigations have differed in conclusions: a 1977 and a 2000 Justice Department review both upheld Ray’s role as the lone gunman. In contrast, the House Select Committee on Assassinations in the 1970s asserted King’s murder likely resulted from a conspiracy, though it found no evidence of direct government involvement.

CNN drops ‘never-before-seen’ photos of Trump and Epstein

CNN’s Kfile has obtained “never-before-seen” photos and video of President Donald Trump and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein that shed new light on the relationship between the two men.

In one of the photos, Epstein is seen attending Trump’s wedding to Marla Maples, which was described as “the wedding of the century” by the media at the time.

Epstein is seen walking into the reception with his date, and also photobombing another photo with famous radio host Howard Stern.

Stephen Colbert curses out Donald Trump after the US President celebrated his show’s cancellation

Stephen Colbert lashed out at former President Donald Trump during Monday night’s broadcast of The Late Show, following Trump’s public celebration of the show’s upcoming cancellation.

Colbert, known for his biting political satire, did not mince words in his fiery monologue.

“How dare you, sir? … Go f**k yourself,” Colbert said, responding to Trump’s post on Truth Social, where the U.S. president mocked the announcement that The Late Show would end in May 2026.

With visible emotion, Colbert declared a new chapter in his approach to political commentary. “I can finally speak unvarnished truth to power and say what I really think about Donald Trump, starting right now: I don’t care for him,” he said. “The gloves are off.”

The audience, which included prominent figures like Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Adam Sandler, Andy Cohen, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper, erupted in applause during Colbert’s remarks, signaling strong support from both fans and peers.

On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart also came to Colbert’s defense. “Watching Stephen’s program climb to become the No. 1 late night show on network television has been an undeniable great pleasure for me as a viewer and as his friend,” Stewart said. He then turned his criticism toward Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company, for its recent $16 million settlement with Donald Trump over the controversial editing of a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. Stewart described the payment as “an extortion fee.”

He questioned CBS’s reasoning behind cancelling Colbert’s show, rejecting the explanation that it was purely financial. “I think the answer is in the fear and pre-compliance that is gripping all of America’s institutions at this very moment, institutions that have chosen not to fight the vengeful and vindictive actions of our pubic hair-doodling commander in chief,” Stewart said, referring to Trump’s history of retaliatory behavior.

Colbert himself had slammed the settlement last week, calling it a “big, fat bribe.” The timing of The Late Show’s cancellation, announced shortly after those remarks, has raised questions about corporate influence and political pressure.

Jimmy Fallon echoed concern on The Tonight Show, saying, “I don’t like what’s going on one bit.”

The announcement has drawn a mix of reactions from the entertainment industry. Stars like Ben Stiller, Rachel Zegler, and Adam Scott have publicly expressed sadness over Colbert’s upcoming departure, while Jimmy Kimmel reportedly cursed out CBS over the decision.

Not everyone sees it the same way. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy called Colbert “arrogant” and dismissed the situation as “capitalism,” suggesting the cancellation was simply a business decision.

Colbert’s remarks signal a defiant end to a program that has led the late-night ratings for years and become a staple of political satire in the Trump era. As his tenure winds down, it appears he’s determined to go out on his own terms.

Police officer Brett Hankison sentenced to 33 months in prison in Breonna Taylor’s de@th

The former Louisville, Kentucky, police officer convicted of a civil rights offense in the de@th of Breonna Taylor has been sentenced to 2 years and nine months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Brett Hankison was found guilty of one count of violating Taylor’s civil rights after he blindly sh0t into Taylor’s apartment in March 2020. Hankison’s bullets did not hit anyone.

The Department of Justice recommended that Hankison should receive one day of imprisonment and three years of supervised release in a sentencing memorandum filed last Wednesday.

Tamika Palmer, Taylor’s mother, said during a press conference outside of the courthouse after the verdict that she wasn’t completely happy with the sentence. Palmer said that the judge did the best that she could, considering that a new prosecutor, who was allegedly not present during the entire trial, came to the sentencing and seemed to be arguing more for the defendant than for Taylor.

“It was just as disrespectful as being sent to a hospital my daughter wasn’t at,” Palmer said about the prosecutor’s performance in court. “I’ve never seen such a thing. I’ve never even heard of such a thing. It was disrespectful. It was heartbreaking. It shouldn’t have happened. And like I said, he didn’t know who I was.”

Kenneth Walker, Taylor’s boyfriend, who sh0t at officers after they rammed the door down because he allegedly didn’t know it was law enforcement at the door, said he was “grateful” for a small piece of justice.

“Brett Hankison told me I was going to go to jail for the rest of my life, so I definitely feel some type of something to see him going — even if it’s a little time,” Walker said at the press conference.

Before Monday’s sentencing, U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings turned down Hankison’s motion for a new trial, expressing frustration and saying the motion was “nebulous and disjointed”, according to WHAS.

The defense stated that Hankison should have a new trial because of misconduct from the prosecution in last year’s trial, according to WHAS.

“The Court finds it difficult to parse the specific claims of misconduct from the motion,” Jennings wrote in her 58-page order, according to WHAS. “This appears to be a circumstance of throwing everything possible at the Court and seeing what sticks.”

Taylor was fatally shot during the 2020 raid, during which three officers fired dozens of rounds after her boyfriend fired one round at them, striking one of the officers.

Hankison fired 10 rounds through Taylor’s sliding glass door and window, which were covered with blinds and curtains, prosecutors said. Several of the rounds traveled into Taylor’s neighbor’s apartment. None of the 10 rounds hit anyone.

The guilty verdict against Hankison came in November, hours after the jury acquitted him of a second count of violating the civil rights of three of Taylor’s neighbors, who lived in an adjacent apartment that was also struck by gunfire during the raid.

Prosecutors argued Hankison’s use of force was unjustified, put people in danger, and violated the civil rights of Taylor and her three neighbors. The indictment alleged Hankison deprived Taylor of the right to be free from unreasonable seizures and deprived her neighbors of the right to be free from the deprivation of liberty without due process of law.

Hankison is the only person to be convicted in relation to Taylor’s de@th.

Just three weeks ago, he reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, for the first time in nearly 20 years.

At that final concert, Osbourne was visibly emotional as he thanked his fans for their support over the decades. He told the 42,000-strong crowd how grateful he was for their love and said farewell with a simple but heartfelt message.

‘You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart,’ Osbourne told the crowd in his final speech.

Jeffrey Epstein victim accuses Trump of lying about ties to late financier

Maria Farmer, an artist and one of the earliest accusers of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, has accused former President Donald Trump of lying about his alleged presence at Epstein’s Manhattan office in the 1990s.

In an emotional interview on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront on Monday, July 21, Farmer recounted a disturbing encounter she says took place in 1995 when she was 25 years old. At the time, Epstein had recruited her for art-related work and summoned her to his office one evening.

Dressed in exercise shorts after running to the meeting, Farmer says she was left waiting when she noticed a “tall, imposing” man in the room—Donald Trump.

“He walked up a few feet from me and just stood over me in a very imposing way,” she recalled. “He looked at me like he was in on some secret or something. It was really weird, like smirking. And I felt threatened.”

Farmer said she reacted with an “ugly” face, prompting Trump to back off just as Epstein emerged from his office.

According to Farmer, Epstein turned to Trump and said, “Oh no, she’s not here for you. Follow me.”
“What made it feel even more uncomfortable,” Farmer said, “was the implication — was someone else in the other room?”

As Trump walked away, she claims she heard him mutter under his breath, “Oh, I thought she was 16.”

“Rude is an understatement,” Farmer said. “It doesn’t matter what age I was — it was inappropriate, demeaning, and threatening.”

Trump has long denied having any involvement in Epstein’s crimes or being part of any “Epstein files.” Speaking to NBC News last month, he said, “That’s called ‘old news.’ That’s been talked about for years. Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it — it’s old news.”

The White House has backed Trump’s denials. Communications Director Steven Cheung told CNN, “The President was never in Epstein’s office. In fact, the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep.”

Farmer swiftly fired back. “He’s lying,” she said. “They’re being disrespectful to the fact that I’ve given up my entire life for this case, just to have it investigated. I’m really sorry for him — that he’s caught — but he’s lying. I don’t appreciate it.”

She maintained that the encounter took place around 9 p.m. and said it was “absolutely inappropriate” for Trump to be there.

“They were best friends at the time,” Farmer added. “Epstein joked to me that after his divorce, he ‘inherited Trump’ and Ghislaine [Maxwell] inherited Ivana. It was known among the staff and everyone that they were close.”

Farmer and her sister Annie were among the first victims to report Epstein’s abuse to authorities. In 1996, she told both the NYPD and the FBI that Epstein and Maxwell had sexually assaulted her. She also reported that her younger sister Annie, then just 15, had also been abused.

On May 29, 2025, Farmer filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, alleging that federal agencies failed to protect her and other victims. She claims she urged the FBI to investigate Trump’s ties to Epstein in both 1996 and again in 2006 — but no action was taken.

“The government has not held any of the people I’ve reported accountable,” she told CNN.
