THEY ABANDONED THE LIVING TO FOLLOW ECL’S COFFIN ⚰️ | THEY FORGOT LUMEZI -Hon.  Matomola  Likwanya

By Hon.  Matomola  Likwanya

THEY ABANDONED THE LIVING TO FOLLOW ECL’S COFFIN ⚰️ | THEY FORGOT LUMEZI – Now they have lost the coffin, Lumezi & bill 7.

Goodson Banda was a very good candidate who is a very good comrade of mine. He has been aspiring to stand in Lumezi since 2014 and he had been Lusaka province PF chairman for years.

They worked closely with Micheal Sata and he is one of those that helped People like ECL, Winter kabimba, Membe and many prominent politicians.

He could have won but they abandoned him and everyone was chasing and protecting a coffin which is already protected.

Here is a Question ?
• In 2026 how are you going to campaign in the 12,000 polling stations across the country if you are failing to split and divide efforts ?

So you see that the so called party is just around BENA nakachinda, Lubinda and a few such that the entire membership can’t do without any program without them being around.

INSTITUTIONALISED LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION IN AFRICAN POLITICAL PARTIES: A LESSON FOR ZAMBIA
By Hon. Anthony Kasandwe MP.

INSTITUTIONALISED LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION IN AFRICAN POLITICAL PARTIES: A LESSON FOR ZAMBIA
By Hon. Anthony Kasandwe MP.

Over the past decade, I have observed a marked shift towards the institutionalisation of leadership succession within several African political parties. These organisations have deliberately established robust internal management structures and succession systems, prioritising collective wisdom over the cult of personality. Crucially, individuals do not outlive institutions; it is institutionalised systems that endure beyond tenures.

My analysis draws from direct participation in multiple party conventions, including: The African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, The FRELIMO of Mozambique, The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of Kenya, The People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), and most recently, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) of Tanzania.

From 28–30 May, 2025 I was privileged to attend Chama Cha Mapinduzi’s convention in Dodoma, which exemplified this approach. The agenda centred on service delivery and the systematic identification of future leaders to assume responsibility upon the conclusion of incumbents’ mandates.

This structured transition starkly contrasts with Zambia’s political landscape. For 27 years, UNIP operated without a succession plan. The MMD followed suit for two decades, as did the PF for ten years. The current UPND administration appears no exception. Leadership succession remains largely contingent—deferred to fate or vague notions of “whom it may concern.” Such ad hoc transitions, as the Bemba adage “Chimbwi no plan fili ukotuya,” invites vulnerability. Whether this model can deliver purposeful development remains for the Zambian electorate to judge. Ine ndelandakofye.

The success of the aforementioned political parties can also be attributed to mentored succession. As the late Dr. Myles Munroe asserted in his seminal works on leadership: “Great leaders identify and mentor their replacements.” The inaugural duty of genuine leadership is to discern a successor and commence their formation immediately—a hallmark of wisdom. Consider Christ’s ministry: His first act was to call Peter, whom He steadfastly prepared for succession.

Regrettably, contemporary leaders often invert this principle. They territorialise authority, declaring, “This is my domain; none may approach—I am divinely appointed.” Yet authentic leadership echoes a different ethos: “It is expedient that I depart… for without my departure, greater works than mine shall remain beyond your reach.”

In conclusion, as a saying goes, “A grasshopper without a plan is breakfast for birds.” When one’s season concludes, departure is not defeat but necessity. Resisting transition invites crisis—what Dr. Munroe termed divine “house-burning” to compel movement. Leaders who cling to power beyond their mandate court institutional decay. The path to enduring legacy lies not in perpetual reign, but in elevating successors who surpass their predecessors.

Former president Edgar Lungu went into the South African hospital where he died using a Zambian passport.

Even his death certificate bears his name. Any story to the contrary is a complete fabrication and should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves.

It is extremely sad that those who are pretending to care for Lungu and to so desperately desire a state funeral for him are using surrogates to continue abusing the man even in death.

ZUPED WELCOME HH’S GUIDANCE TO DEFER BILL 7….there was no wider consultations amongst stakeholders

ZUPED WELCOME HH’S GUIDANCE TO DEFER BILL 7

….there was no wider consultations amongst stakeholders

Livingstone… Thursday June 26, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)

The Zambians for Unity Peace and Development (ZUPED) has welcomed the guidance by President Hakainde Hichilema to defer the ongoing process on Bill No.7 of 2025.

ZUPED President Ronnie Jere believes this will allow more consultations with the people of Zambia.

Mr Jere has told Smart Eagles via telephone that this will allow more consultations with the Church, Civil Society Organisations, traditional leadership and other key stakeholders.

“From the onset, we did indicate that there was no wider consultations with the stakeholders over this process of amending the constitution. Some stakeholders had issues with certain clauses and that is why most of the stakeholders rejected it. We commend the President for taking this step,” he said.

“Now that the President has guided over this process, we hope that this can come after next year’s general elections. The government can engage the key stakeholders over their inputs unlike making it look like imposing it on the people of Zambia. In as much as there are lacunas in the Supreme Law of the land, we need to ensure that all stakeholders are involved.”

Mr Jere said constitution amendments require the full participation of all key stakeholders.

President Hichilema has guided the Minister of Justice, Hon. Princess Kasune in consultation with Parliament, to defer the ongoing process on Bill No. 7 of 2025 to allow for more consultations with the Zambian people.

The guidance by the President follows further consultations with the Church, Church Mother Bodies, over thirty (30) civil society organizations, held at State House on Tuesday the 24th of June 2025, where diverse perspectives were shared. To ensure additional stakeholder input, the President has guided the Minister of Justice to work closely with the church, civil society, and other stakeholders to review the current roadmap and proposed amendments.

Freemasons have built and donated a classroom in Chilanga District

Freemasons donate to ‘make lives better’

IN AN act of charity, the Freemasons have built and dona

ted a classroom to enhance education standards in the country.

The Lodge of Unity handed over the newly-constructed classroom to the Human Service Trust (HST) School in Namalombe area of Chilanga District last Saturday.

Speaking at the event, Lodge of Unity’s reining Master, Brother Aman Mohan, explained some of the principles of Freemasonry.

“Freemasonry is a fraternity that brings men from all different parts of our society together to build strong friendships, practise upright morals, integrity and sound character. As we say: Masonry makes good men better! A very important pillar of our society is to practise charity and to help the lesser privileged in our society improve their livelihoods. Unfortunately, the general perception of Freemasonry is often misunderstood and has led to a lot of misconceptions of our fraternity,” he stated.

The construction of the classroom was made possible through generous donations from the Lodge of Unity, which has supported HST for over five years.

He mentioned that their main fundraising event is held annually in August and is open to all members of the public that wish to participate or contribute. Proceeds from this event are directed towards seven charitable causes, including Human Service Trust, which comprises a school, clinic, and hospice.

“We are also exploring new initiatives, such as organizing a fund-raising walk/run, to raise additional funds while promoting healthier lifestyles,” Mohan said.

He also added that being present at the handover was a meaningful experience and reaffirmed the Lodge of Unity’s commitment to supporting deserving causes.

He expressed gratitude to other supporting groups, including The Shyam Parivar, The Rajasthan Foundation, The Jain Association of Zambia, and the members and family members of the Lodge of Unity that were present at the hand-over ceremony.

Representing the District Grand Lodge of Zambia Scottish Constitution, the governing body of Scottish Freemasonry in Zambia, which oversees Lodge of Unity, was Brother Musonda Kasase.

“There is no better gift a parent can give to a child than education. It is something no one can ever take away. Seeing how the masonic fraternity is helping fellow Zambian Citizens by funding better education facilities is truly a proud moment,” Kasase remarked.

Human Service Trust Board Chairperson Vijay Vargiya, popularly known as VJ, shared the story of the school’s humble beginnings.

Originally conducted under a tree, the school has now grown to include 14 classrooms across eight buildings, thanks to contributions from well-wishers and organizations such as the Lodge of Unity.

VJ noted that HST’s services extend beyond education.

The Trust has provided support to the Old People’s Home in Matero, conducted thousands of cataract operations in Liteta, and assisted the Paediatrics Department at the University Teaching Hospital with equipment and food until 2000.

Mohan concluded by expressing the Lodge’s enthusiasm for continuing its support and visiting the facilities regularly to witness the ongoing development first-hand.

SIMUUWE DEFENDS UPND’S HONESTY ON LOAD SHEDDING AND DROUGHT RESPONSE

SIMUUWE DEFENDS UPND’S HONESTY ON LOAD SHEDDING AND DROUGHT RESPONSE

June 26, 2025

LUSAKA – UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe has defended the government’s approach to load shedding and its broader response to the ongoing drought, urging citizens to appreciate the context and efforts being made behind the scenes.

Speaking on the Burning Issues radio program this morning, Mr. Simuuwe said the government has shifted its communication strategy to allow citizens and journalists to verify development stories themselves.

“We are saying, instead of us speaking all the time, let the people on the ground tell their own stories,” he said.

Mr. Simuuwe emphasized that the power crisis is largely due to reduced water levels in key hydropower stations like Kariba, caused by a severe regional drought.

He noted that Zambia is currently facing a power deficit of up to 1,000 megawatts, but the government has rolled out both short- and long-term measures to mitigate the impact.

To ease pressure, the government is importing electricity, recalling exports, and enabling private players to invest in alternative energy. “This drought is not political; it’s affecting Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. But our duty is to act, and we are acting,” he added.

He also pointed to increased social protection, expanded farming support through credit schemes, and a significant rise in the Constituency Development Fund as signs of the government’s commitment.

“We’re not claiming perfection, but we are focused on real solutions,” Simuuwe said.

Mr. Simuuwe urged citizens to reject propaganda and judge the UPND by its efforts to deliver on promises despite unexpected challenges.

Musokotwane Churns Out Positive Economic Statistics

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba wrote;

Despite the worst drought in hundred years, the worst load-shedding and power crisis in sixty (60) years, despite the worst cost-of-living crisis in living memory, despite the rapid contraction of both domestic and foreign debt Ministry of Finance is churning out incredibly positive statistics on economic indicators suggesting a Zambian economic doing very well and making dramatic rise!

Despite showing poor fiscal discipline, from a national budget of K217.1 billion in 2025, a 9% increase from 2024, government has requested another K33.1billion supplementary budget with a widening deficit!

Ministry of Finance claims that;

● Zambia is recording an upward 6% economic growth.

●A strong currency of K23 Kwacha and appreciating.

● Inflation Rate dropping from 15.3% to 14.1%.

●The total stock of 2025 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) estimated at USD 15.49 billion

ZAMBIA’S INFLATION RATE SLOWED TO 14% IN JUNE…. down from 15.3 percent recorded in May

ZAMBIA’S INFLATION RATE SLOWED TO 14% IN JUNE

…. down from 15.3 percent recorded in May

Lusaka… Thursday June 26, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)

The Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats) has disclosed that Zambia’s annual inflation rate slowed to 14.1 percent in June 2025, down from 15.3 percent recorded in May.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Acting Statistician General, Sheila Mudenda, attributed the slowdown to reduced price pressures in both food and non-food categories.

Ms Mudenda said this means that on average, prices of goods and services increased by 14.1 percent between June 2024 and June 2025.

She said the decline was mainly influenced by price movements in key food items such as cereals, vegetables, and fruits, as well as lower increases in non-food items.

She disclosed that annual food inflation for June 2025 was recorded at 16.7 percent compared to 17.9 percent in May 2025.

“This means on average prices of food items increased by 16.7 percent between June 2024 and June 2025. This was mainly attributed to price movements in prices of food items such as Cereals (including breakfast mealie meal, roller mealie meal, maize grain, Samp, rice), Vegetables (Spinanch, Chinese Cabbage, Dried beans, Sweet potatoes); Fruits (Oranges, Apples, Pineapples),” she said.

“The annual non-food inflation for June 2025 was recorded at 10.3 percent compared to 11.6 percent in March 2025. This outturn was mainly attributed to price movements in prices of nonfood items such as Purchase of motor vehicles (Toyota hilux, Nissan Hardbody); Passeger transport by air; Fuel ( petrol & diesel) and Parafin.”

Meanwhile, Ms Mudenda has indicated that Traditional Exports earnings increased by 4.9 percent from K19.7 billion in April 2025 to K20.6 billion in May 2025.

She stated that in terms of share in total exports, traditional exports accounted for 68.3 percent in May 2025.

“Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) earnings increased by 36.4 percent from K7.0 billion in April 2025 to K9.6 billion in May 2025. In terms of share in total exports, NTEs accounted for 31.7 percent in
May 2025.

Export earnings from refined copper increased by 4.7 percent from K19.6 billion in April 2025 to K20.6 billion in May 2025. Refined Copper export volumes increased by 10.2 percent from 72.3 thousand metric tonnes in April 2025 to 79.7 thousand metric tonnes in May 2025,” she added.

“Further, copper prices on the LME market for the corresponding months increased by 3.7 percent from US$9,192.1 per mt in April 2025 to US$ 9,529.8 in May 2025.”

LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT PRESS STATEMENT ON BILL NO.7 DEFERMENT

LEADERSHIP MOVEMENT PRESS STATEMENT ON BILL NO.7 DEFERMENT

26 – JUNE – 2025 THURSDAY.

As Leadership Movement party, we commend President Hakainde Hichilema for guiding the Minister of Justice, Hon. Princess Kasune, MP, to defer the ongoing process on Bill No. 7.

We wish to put it on record that, the  decision demonstrates a willingness to listen to the voices of Zambians and prioritize inclusive decision-making.

Appreciations are in order especially that Dr. Richard Silumbe and the entire Leadership Movement made the first  call for a broader consultation on Bill No. 7 and the fact that the sober  call did  not fall on deaf ears is commendable. As a  party we are on record as a first opposition political party to raise concerns and mobilize under the ‘ *Hands Off the Constitution* ‘ campaign, led by our party leader Dr. Richard Silumbe.

However, we believe that deferment alone is *INSUFFICIENT* . The Zambia people have spoken, and their priority is not the constitutional amendment at this time. Instead, they demand action on pressing issues like reducing the cost of living, providing affordable energy solutions, fostering a thriving business environment, improving road infrastructure, and making farming inputs more accessible.

Bringinging the Bill back after the 2026 general elections would be a testament to the government’s commitment to listening to the people. We urge President Hakainde  Hichilema to prioritize the fulfillment of the UPND’s 2021 election promises, which remain *UNMET* . The people are not in a hurry for a constitutional amendment; they are in a hurry for tangible solutions to their daily struggles.

Leadership Movement believe, focusing on what truly matters to Zambians welfare and well-being is more important.

Spokesperson; Leadership Movement Party.

NJOBVU’S DEMOCRATIC UNION STIRS POLITICAL WAVES IN CENTRAL PROVINCE WITH PROMISES OF JOBS, INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

NJOBVU’S DEMOCRATIC UNION STIRS POLITICAL WAVES IN CENTRAL PROVINCE WITH PROMISES OF JOBS, INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP

The Democratic Union (DU), Zambia’s newest political entrant under the leadership of Ackim Anthony Njobvu, is rapidly carving its space on the national political stage, with its recent mobilization drive across Central Province injecting renewed energy into the debate on party politics, economic inclusion, and job creation ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The DU’s presence in Mkushi, Kapiri Mposhi, and Kabwe has not only drawn crowds but has also reignited public discourse on the need for political renewal and practical solutions to Zambia’s rising unemployment levels—particularly among the youth. With the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) under increasing pressure to deliver on its employment promises, and the former ruling Patriotic Front (PF) still battling internal divisions, many voters say the time is ripe for alternative leadership.

“Our youth are stranded. Every year, thousands graduate into a jobless economy,” Njobvu told a gathering of traders and jobseekers in Kapiri Mposhi. “While other parties are busy trading blame, the Democratic Union is offering a new vision—one that places jobs, industry, and innovation at the centre of our economic policy.”

The DU president emphasized that Zambia’s political landscape has for years been dominated by parties that rise to power on populist promises but fail to deliver sustainable development. He accused both the UPND and PF of prioritizing political survival over citizen empowerment, saying it’s time for a movement that speaks directly to the economic frustrations of everyday Zambians.

In Kabwe, Njobvu met with youth-led cooperatives and unemployed graduates, promising that a DU government would focus on reviving local industries and facilitating access to business capital. He also pledged to introduce public-private partnership models to generate employment, especially in the agriculture, transport, and technology sectors.

“Politics should no longer be about slogans and rallies,” Njobvu said. “It must now be about measurable outcomes—how many youths are working, how many small businesses are growing, how many communities are self-sustaining.”

As Zambia continues to grapple with high cost of living, currency volatility, and a widening income gap, political analysts say the emergence of a party focused on economic renewal may resonate strongly, particularly in semi-urban and peri-urban areas like Central Province where unemployment and political fatigue are high.

Community members in Kapiri Mposhi expressed disappointment in the current crop of politicians, accusing them of neglecting rural economic empowerment.

“Every election season, they come with promises,” said James Mwansa, a youth representative. “But after the votes are cast, the people are forgotten. Maybe DU can be different.”

Njobvu responded by urging voters to reject parties that thrive on tribalism, violence, and recycled manifestos. He called for peaceful political competition ahead of 2026, rooted in ideas and policies, not personal attacks or historical grudges.

“We don’t just want to win seats—we want to win minds,” he said. “The DU is a party of substance, not noise.”

With rising public interest and a growing presence on the ground, the Democratic Union now joins a growing list of emerging political movements seeking to reshape Zambia’s future through targeted economic messaging and grassroots mobilization.

Whether the DU can translate public sentiment into actual ballots in 2026 remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Zambia’s political terrain is evolving, and the demand for leadership that delivers jobs and restores dignity is louder than ever.

BILL 7, A WASTE OF TIME AND RESOURCES – Citizens First

BILL 7, A WASTE OF TIME AND RESOURCES – CF

Lusaka, June 26 – Like we had advised earlier, the process to introduce BILL 7 shouldn’t have been started in the first place, it was a waste of time and resources.

Today’s intimation to defer the widely rejected Bill 7 is a firm indication that the people’s voices have spoken louder than the wishes of a few individuals wishing to impose dictatorial tendencies.

If this Government had listened to advice given earlier by several stakeholders, they could have avoided the embarrassment of taking the infamous Bill 7 to the National Assembly, only to recall it the following day.

It was an unnecessary expenditure and the money spent on this ill-conceived project so far could have been channelled to other needy areas in our economy.

As Citizens First, we would like to thank the Church, Civil Society Organizations, the Law Association of Zambia and other political parties for speaking out and rejecting this ill-fated Bill.

It’s our considered view that going forward, there’s need for a holistic people driven constitutional review process that addresses all concerns once and for all.

We should never go back to attempts of coming up with dubious and deceptive piecemeal constitutional amendments like Bill 7 which are crafted to suit partisan interests.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM BURNING ISSUE PROGRAM FEATURING UPND MEDIA DIRECTOR MR MARK SIMUUWE

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM BURNING ISSUE PROGRAM FEATURING UPND MEDIA DIRECTOR MR MARK SIMUUWE

1. SHIFT IN MEDIA STRATEGY

The UPND media team is now prioritizing community voices over government voices.

Journalists are being taken on site visits to witness and report developments themselves.

Citizens from affected areas are encouraged to tell their stories directly to the media.

2. PROMOTING ISSUE-BASED POLITICS

The UPND is investing in training journalists and encouraging factual, issue-based political reporting.

Emphasis is being placed on avoiding propaganda and representing the true state of affairs, both successes and failures.

3. TRANSPARENCY ON LOAD SHEDDING

Zambia needs 1,700MW to operate normally, but there’s a deficit of 700–1,000MW due to the drought and low water levels at Kariba.

Government is addressing this with both short-term and long-term measures:

Short-term: Importing power, recalling exports, and subsidizing domestic supply.

Long-term: Policy reforms to encourage private sector investment in energy, including solar projects and independent power producers (IPPs).

MOU with Chinese partners to establish large solar plants.

4. DROUGHT RESPONSE AND FOOD SECURITY

Drought is a natural disaster, not political affecting Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

Government responded with:

Credit facilities for 17,000 farmers for irrigation.

Social protection: Over ZMW 42 billion supplementary budget targeting vulnerable populations.

Massive maize planting campaigns, supported by citizens, are beginning to lower food prices.

5. ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION

Zambia is becoming a regional exporter of products like batteries and electric cables.

Increase in foreign direct investment, particularly in mining and manufacturing.

Expansion of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from ZMW 41 million (2021) to ZMW 397 million (2025), enabling more youth and community empowerment.

6. YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Influx of youths into government programs like CEEC and CDF-based skills training (e.g., agriculture).

Introduction of free agricultural training to tackle hunger and improve rural livelihoods.

7. GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY

UPND acknowledges it has not delivered 100% of its promises.

The media team aims to openly communicate both achievements and areas where progress is delayed.

Citizens are encouraged to be patient as reforms take shape and yield results over time.

U.S EMBASSY IN ZAMBIA URGES CALM OVER POTENTIAL TRAVEL BAN

U.S EMBASSY IN ZAMBIA URGES CALM OVER POTENTIAL TRAVEL BAN

THE United States Embassy in Zambia has urged Zambians not to panic over reports that the country may be included among nations facing potential travel restrictions to the U.S.

U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Phil Dimon says the decision, linked to ongoing reviews by the U.S. government under a policy initiated by the Trump administration, would not take immediate effect and is still subject to diplomatic engagements.

Responding to a Phoenix News press query, Mr. Dimon explains that the U.S. government regularly assesses foreign countries based on their national security cooperation, information-sharing and identity management practices, exploitation of the U.S. visa system, including visa overstays, and their willingness to facilitate the repatriation of nationals who are subject to removal.

He says diplomatic discussions are underway with affected countries, including Zambia, to address the identified issues, meant to protect U.S. national security and interests, while the countries identified as potential concerns have considerable time to take corrective action.

He adds that the U.S. government is constantly reevaluating its policies to ensure the safety of Americans and that foreign nationals follow laws, with the aim to work with governments and not punish them.

DA gives Ramaphosa 48 hours to fire alleged ANC corrupt ministers

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has given President Cyril Ramaphosa a 48-hour ultimatum to dismiss several African National Congress (ANC) ministers and deputy ministers implicated in corruption.

The demand follows the controversial dismissal of DA Deputy Minister Andrew Whitfield from his role in Trade, Industry, and Competition, which the DA has called a “calculated political assault” and an example of “double standards” by Ramaphosa

The DA, led by John Steenhuisen, is demanding the removal of Justice Minister Thembi Simelane, Higher Education Minister Nobuhle Nkabane, and Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation David Mahlobo.

Simelane is accused of receiving a R575,600 loan linked to unlawful VBS Mutual Bank investments during her tenure as Polokwane mayor.

Nkabane allegedly misled Parliament about an “independent panel” for SETA board appointments, while Mahlobo faces serious corruption allegations from the Zondo Commission on state capture.

Despite these claims, all three remain in their posts. Whitfield’s dismissal, announced on today, June 26, was attributed to his failure to secure presidential approval for a trip to the United States, though the DA insists he requested permission on February 12 without a response.

Steenhuisen criticized Ramaphosa for targeting Whitfield over minor procedural issues while shielding ANC figures from accountability, warning that failure to act by June 28 could destabilize the GNU, formed after the ANC lost its absolute majority in the 2024 elections.

As the ultimatum’s deadline looms, South Africans await Ramaphosa’s response, with many expressing frustration over perceived leniency toward corruption.

‘Kanu is my Idol, God of Football’ – Adebayor

0

Former Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor has reaffirmed that Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu remains his idol and “god of football.”

Adebayor, who played for Arsenal between 2006 and 2009, wore the number 25 jersey and used the same locker previously occupied by Kanu—an experience he described as a defining moment in his career.

The former Togo striker, who also featured for clubs such as Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur, scored 32 goals in 87 appearances for the Togo national team before retiring.

Speaking with Brila FM, Adebayor dismissed any comparisons between himself and the Nigerian icon.

“I beg you people, Kanu [Nwankwo] is my idol and my god of football. So please, no comparison needed here. Thank you for understanding,” he said.

Trump says US to meet with Iran next week

0

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will meet with Iran next week to discuss a potential nuclear agreement, though he emphasised that he does not consider such a deal essential.

“We’re going to talk to them next week, with Iran. We may sign an agreement, I don’t know. To me, I don’t think it’s that necessary. I mean, they had a war, they fought, now they’re going back to their world. I don’t care if I have an agreement or not,” Trump said during a news conference following the NATO summit in The Hague.

Trump stated that his administration would be seeking the same commitments it had previously demanded from Iran before recent escalations in the Middle East.

“The only thing we would be asking for is what we were asking for before,” he said, reiterating that a formal agreement may be unnecessary. He claimed the U.S. had already dismantled Iran’s nuclear program, despite intelligence assessments suggesting otherwise.

“We want no nuclear, but we destroyed the nuclear. In other words, it’s destroyed. I said, ‘Iran will not have nuclear.’ Well, we blew it up. It’s blown up to kingdom come, and so I don’t feel very strongly about it. If we got a document, it wouldn’t be bad. We’re going to meet with them,” Trump asserted.

Trump also mentioned that he had asked Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Marco Rubio whether they should pursue an agreement just before stepping onstage. Trump expressed confidence that Iran could be persuaded to sign a deal.

Rubio noted that any agreement would depend on Iran’s willingness to engage directly with the U.S. rather than through intermediaries.

Woman drags her husband before her pastor and church members because he is unromantic and has a filthy habit

A Nigerian woman made headlines on the internet when she accused her husband of being unromantic and of having a filthy habit in front of her pastor and church members.

In a widely shared video, the woman and her spouse sat in front of their pastor while she vented her frustrations and grievances to him in front of the other churchgoers during a service.

Selena Gomez reveals her childhood crush was rapper Ice Cube

Selena Gomez has revealed her childhood crush was none other than rap legend Ice Cube, a surprising confession that’s making waves online.

The pop star and actress shared the unexpected tidbit during an appearance on GOAT Talk with Karol G for Complex, where she bypassed the usual teen heartthrobs in favor of the N.W.A. icon.

Gomez, now 31, admitted the crush started when she was just five years old, calling it “kind of weird” in hindsight. She explained that her young mind believed Ice Cube would “protect her,” a reflection of the rapper’s tough image during his early solo career.

While her taste in men has evolved, Gomez’s current relationship is no less headline-worthy. She’s engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, with the couple confirming their engagement in December 2024. The pair are now preparing for their wedding.

Cristiano Ronaldo is close to agreeing to a new two-year deal with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is close to agreeing to a new two-year deal with Saudi Pro League club, Al-Nassr.

The Portugal captain’s current contract was set to expire at the end of June, leading to speculation about his departure.

Ronaldo had previously hinted at leaving with a social media post stating “the chapter is over” after the season’s final game.

But the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is now set to stay in Saudi Arabia.

Since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022, Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances, including 35 last season to win the SPL Golden Boot.

The forward joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 as a free agent after leaving Manchester United following a controversial interview in which he criticised the Premier League club.

Al-Nassr are currently without a manager after parting company with Stefano Pioli on Wednesday.

Former AC Milan and Inter boss Pioli, who was appointed in September, led Al-Nassr to a third-place finish in the SPL last season, 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad.

Nas has given more to Hip-Hop than any other Rapper – U.S. radio host, Ebro Darden

U.S. radio host, Ebro Darden has declared that rapper Nas has contributed more to hip-hop than any other artist in the genre’s history.

During a new episode of Ebro in the Morning, Darden praised Nas for his efforts to elevate hip-hop culture and support veteran artists through his Mass Appeal record label.

“Hot take,” Ebro said. “Nas has done more for hip-hop than any other rapper in history. He has given back more to hip-hop than any rapper in history.” Co-host Peter Rosenberg agreed, saying Nas is certainly part of that conversation.

The discussion followed the announcement that Mass Appeal will be releasing new albums from several iconic hip-hop acts, including De La Soul, Mobb Deep, and Ghostface Killah. The label’s initiative, titled Legend Has It…, is part of an effort to spotlight some of the most influential pioneers in hip-hop.

In a press release, Mass Appeal said:
“Legend Has It… is dedicated to celebrating and spotlighting some of the most important and influential hip-hop artists of all time—trailblazers who’ve helped shape the music and culture from the streets of New York City to the global stage. This series includes Nas and DJ Premier reuniting, Ghostface Killah’s long-awaited Supreme Clientele 2, and Emperor’s New Clothes from Wu-Tang’s Raekwon.”

The label also recently released Victory, a new album from Slick Rick, marking his first full-length project since 1999’s The Art of Storytelling.

Ebro’s praise for Nas comes in the wake of criticism from fellow rapper Jim Jones, who recently claimed his own catalog has remained more relevant than Nas’. Speaking on the Joe & Jada Podcast and Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Jones said:

“My son can’t tell me one Nas record. I got a hell of a catalog—me, Jim Jones. Gold records, platinum records. No Diplomats, nobody else, just me. Check my track record, then check everybody else’s. Go to Billboard and pull up Nas’ entries, then pull up mine. I’ve been spanking a lot of this sh*t.”

Trump calls for corruption trial against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to be cancelled

0

US President Donald Trump has called for Israel to cancel the corruption trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, or grant him a pardon, describing the case against the Israeli leader as a “witch-hunt”

Trump issued the call on Wednesday on behalf of his close Israeli ally, who was indicted in 2019 in Israel on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

“BREAKING NEWS… I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which has just had one of its Greatest Moments in History, and is strongly led by Bibi Netanyahu, is continuing its ridiculous Witch Hunt against their Great War Time Prime Minister!” Trump wrote in a lengthy post on Truth Social.

The US president said that he and Netanyahu “just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his LOVE for the incredible Holy Land.”

“Anybody else would have suffered losses, embarrassment, and chaos! Bibi Netanyahu was a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel,” Trump claimed. “The result was something that nobody thought was possible, a complete elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the World, and it was going to happen, SOON! We were fighting, literally, for the Survival of Israel, and there is nobody in Israel’s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu.”

“Such a WITCH HUNT, for a man who has given so much, is unthinkable to me,” said Trump, echoing both Netanyahu’s rhetoric about the trial and his own regarding the criminal cases and legal challenges he has faced.

“Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero, who has done so much for the State,” Trump continued.

“It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. THIS TRAVESTY OF ‘JUSTICE’ CAN NOT BE ALLOWED!” he concluded.

In December, Netanyahu became the first Israeli prime minister to take the stand as the defendant in a criminal trial for corruption. He assailed the charges against him as an “ocean of absurdity”.

He was charged with fraud, breach of trust, and accepting bribes in three separate cases.

The 75-year-old is accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of cigars and champagne from a billionaire Hollywood producer in exchange for assisting him with personal and business interests, and of promoting advantageous regulation for media moguls in exchange for favourable coverage of himself and his family.

He denies wrongdoing, saying the charges are a witch-hunt orchestrated by a hostile media and a biased legal system out to topple his lengthy rule.

Florida beauty queen reveals she was stripped of her title after saying trans women

A Florida beauty queen has claimed that she was stripped of her title after declining to sign a contract that redefines female to include individuals who have undergone s£x changes.

Kayleigh Bush, winner of Miss North Florida 2025, was crowned in August of last year before she claims her title was taken away from her in November by organizers, who have denied her claims.

She said she had expressed concerns over her contract, which she claimed violated her own religious beliefs while also raising concerns about state law.

The contract states that applicants must be female, adding that is either a biological female or ‘an individual who has fully completed S£x Reassignment Surgery’.

Represented by the Christian nonprofit group Liberty Counsel, they sent a letter advising both Miss Florida and Miss America to change the content of the contract and restore her title so she can compete in the competition, scheduled for this week.

The letter says: ‘The word ‘female’ indeed ‘means a born female’ and that it is offensive to female dignity to require females to compete against males claiming to be the opposite s£x.

‘Bush’s ‘strongest objection’ is to how the additional definition of ‘female’ also ‘incentivizes and promotes grievous harm to the health and safety of minor boys.’

According to Liberty Counsel, the two organizations refused twice to revise the contract, opting instead to strip Bush of her title. Legal counsel representing Miss America has shot down these claims as false, providing letters of correspondence between the two and saying they never stripped her of her crown.

The contract adds: ‘Supporting medical documentation must be in the form of the certification attached, signed by the surgeon who performed the surgery and notarized, along with a copy of board certification and a current medical license.

‘No alternative gender affirming [sic] surgery will suffice as acceptable in place of a Vaginoplasty [sic].’

Liberty Counsel claimed that Bush had entered into an oral agreement with the two organizations after winning her title.

They said that at the time there was no mention that Bush ‘subscribed to this “false” definition of “female”.’

‘Thus, Miss Florida, Inc. is in apparent breach of its oral agreement with [Bush], over terms that are void under Florida law and public policy,’ they added.

According to the group, the contract contradicts Florida’s legal definition of sex, which classifies people as ‘either male or female’.

Bush said: ‘Early last August I was crowned 2025 Miss North Florida, a title I worked hard for, prayed over, and earned under the clear understanding that this was a pageant for women.

‘The rules were clear: you had to be a female to compete. That’s what was written on the website, and that was confirmed before entering. Four weeks later, everything changed.’

She said that she was handed the document after she had been crowned as Miss North Florida.

She added: ‘That contract redefined ‘female’ to include individuals who are biologically male but have undergone medical mutilating surgery.

‘That was not the agreement when I stepped onto that stage. That was not the standard I — or any of the other young women — signed up for.

‘I was told to sign it, or step down. And I couldn’t sign it. Not because I don’t have compassion, but because I have conviction.

‘I believe that biology is real, and that redefining what it means to be a woman after the fact isn’t just unfair — it’s dishonest.’

She said that what she was going through was a call for young girls to stand firm in what they believe, adding: ‘Your dignity is not up for negotiation.’

Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said: ‘A contract that defines ‘female’ to include boys 14-18 who have been medically castrated is an abandonment of reality and an endorsement of harming children.

‘Kayleigh Bush should have her crown restored and these types of reprehensible contracts must be stopped.’

In a letter from legal counsel representing Miss America to the Daily Mail, they shot down the claims made by Liberty Counsel as being false.

According to the letter, lawyers representing the company had been in contact with the group over the concerns raised by Bush.

They also took aim at Bush and her statement, adding that she had not been stripped of her crown, saying: ‘Her title was never taken away.

‘Had her title been taken away, another individual would have been given the title and competed for the state title.

‘She didn’t lose the crown and no one asked her to rewrite anything, let alone the truth.’

The company added that nobody had asked her to abandon her beliefs, saying they do not negotiate individual contracts for each contestant and refuse to impede the rights of others based on an individuals beliefs.

It added: ‘You need to sign the contract. We cannot negotiate a separate contract for each contestant in each local contest in each state affiliated with the national competition.’

Viral Video Shows White Employees at Auto Shop Mocking Juneteenth

Two employees at a North Carolina auto shop have left their jobs after a viral video showed them mocking Juneteenth, sparking public outrage, online backlash, and a wave of bad reviews that hurt the business. The incident began when a customer asked why banks were closed that day. An employee at Synergy Auto Care in Wilson, North Carolina, responded, “Juneteenth, a new holiday they started a few years ago.” Another customer replied sarcastically, “Okey dokey,” while a second employee laughed and added, “I know, right.”

A Black woman inside the shop overheard the conversation. She asked for her truck to be returned. “Give me my * truck. Pull my truck around. Please. Give me, give me my truck,” she said. Her reaction quickly went viral online and was widely praised.

Instead of issuing an apology, the shop posted about the exchange on Facebook, calling it a “WOW moment.” The woman warned she would speak publicly about what she saw as a racist encounter. In response, an employee threatened to release surveillance footage.

Shop owner Josh Dougherty said the flood of negative reviews and hate forced him to take down the post and shut the store’s social media page. He also revealed that the employees involved weren’t fired, but left on their own after receiving death threats.

Dougherty claimed one of the employees didn’t fully understand the meaning of Juneteenth. “She was thinking the holiday had a whole other meaning,” Dougherty said, according to WRAL. “She was believing it had to something with school letting out, teenagers, where the ‘teenth’ came from, and she was believing it didn’t need to be a day, a serious day per se.”

Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 to mark the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Texas to announce that enslaved Black Americans were free. Dougherty said he’s educating his staff now about the holiday’s history. He added that the employee involved now regrets the incident and is trying to learn from it.

As backlash grew, the store’s Google rating dropped to 3.4 stars. Customers, both new and old, slammed the business in reviews and comments. Some reviews questioned how employees could be so unaware of such an important holiday.

The business is now trying to repair its image amid heavy criticism and lost trust.

Riley Gaines responds to Simone Biles deleting her X following their disagreement over trans athletes

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles has deleted her X account several days after she and former college swimmer Riley Gaines got into a heated online disagreement over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, the New York Post reported.

After Gaines, 25, became aware of Biles, 28, deleting her X account, the former said that it was “sad to see such a phenom go down like this.”

“Has an incredibly unpopular and morally indefensible take, gets rightfully ridiculed for it, issues a groveling public apology after unrelenting backlash, deletes account to pretend it never happened,” she added.

Biles’ other social media accounts are, however, still up and rinning. Gaines has been a staunch advocate for the introduction of policies to control the involvement of transgender women in competitive female sports. Gaines embarked on that campaign in 2022 after she and former University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas both finished fifth in a 200m freestyle race.

Transgender athletes being allowed to participate in competitive women’s sports has also been a hugely debated topic that has drawn divergent sentiments, and that was what sparked the initial online disagreement between Biles and Gaines.

Biles deleting her X account also came after she rendered an apology to Gaines on the social media platform following their online feud.

“I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I’ve always believed competitive equity & inclusivity are both essential in sport. The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for,” Biles wrote in her post.

Biles also stated that the issues in question are “sensitive” as well as “complicated,” and she “truly” doesn’t have the “answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect.”

“I was not advocating for policies that compromise fairness in women’s sports. My objection is to be singling out children for public scrutiny in ways that feel personal and harmful,” she added.

“Individual athletes—especially kids—should never be the focus of criticism of a flawed system they have no control over. I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition. We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful.”

The Olympic gold medalist’s statement came days after she called out Gaines when the former college swimmer responded to a post from a Minnesota high school softball team with a pitcher who is transgender.

“To be expected when your star player is a boy,” Gaines quoted on the post to highlight the comments being turned off.

But Biles took issue with her comments and also directly addressed her. “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser,” Biles wrote. “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”

Biles in another post also wrote, “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”

Gaines also fired back. “This is actually so disappointing,” she told Biles in her response. “It’s not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces. You can uplift men stealing championships in women’s sports with YOUR platform. Men don’t belong in women’s sports and I say that with my full chest.”

Despite their initial online spat, Gaines accepted Biles’ apology. “I accept Simone’s apology for the personal attacks including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. She’s still the greatest female gymnast of all time,” she wrote on Biles’ post.

Elsewhere in her long post, Gaines said that “women’s sports can’t be used as an excuse for girls to center the feelings and validation of men and boys.” She added: “I welcome you to the fight to support fair sports and a future for female athletes. Little girls deserve the same shot to achieve that you had.”

Diddy declines to testify, praises judge as sex trafficking trial nears end

Sean “Diddy” Combs, facing serious federal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, has confirmed he will not testify in his defense. The hip-hop mogul’s decision came Tuesday after federal prosecutors concluded a six-week case stacked with explosive allegations and 34 witnesses, including two of his former romantic partners

“I’m doing great, your honor,” Combs said in court when U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian asked how he was holding up. Without waiting for the next question, the Bad Boy Records founder added, “I want to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job.”

Judge Subramanian’s inquiry followed standard procedure in federal trials, ensuring the defendant is fully aware of their right to testify or not, independent of legal counsel. Combs responded clearly: “That is my decision, your honor… That is solely my decision.” He later clarified, “I mean, it’s my decision with my lawyers. … My decision to make. I’m making it.”

Earlier in the day, the prosecution officially rested its case. The defense followed suit shortly after, calling no witnesses. Defense attorneys moved to dismiss the charges outright, arguing the government had failed to prove its case. Judge Subramanian said a ruling would come at a later time.

The government’s case hinges on accounts from women who allege they were coerced into elaborate sexual rituals labeled “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.” Among them was Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who dated Combs from 2007 to 2018, and a model known only as “Jane,” who was involved with him from 2021 until his September arrest.

Ventura, 38, testified over four days that Combs pressured her into hundreds of such encounters with male sex workers, some of which he filmed. Jane, who testified across six days, described similar experiences, sharing that she began to process their impact only after beginning therapy earlier this year.

“I felt I didn’t do much, but after the song came out, my fans made me realize it was the best,” she admitted. “Sometimes I want to give up, and then I get a DM saying, ‘I love your music,’ and that’s my wake-up call.”

Prosecutors argue the testimonies, along with video evidence shown to jurors last week, establish a pattern of coercion. The court was shown more than 40 minutes of explicit recordings that Combs had taken himself. While some jurors appeared visibly uncomfortable, most maintained composure. Prosecutors claim these videos back up their charges; defense attorney Geragos, however, called them “powerful evidence that the sexual conduct in this case was consensual and not based on coercion.”

Throughout the trial, Combs, who has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody at a federal facility in Brooklyn, has remained deeply involved in his defense strategy. He frequently passed notes to attorneys and offered input during witness cross-examinations.

However, his courtroom demeanor drew attention when prosecutors complained he was attempting to sway the jury with nonverbal cues. The judge issued a warning, stating that Combs could be removed from the courtroom if the behavior continued.

The prosecution’s witnesses included former employees of Combs’ companies, several of whom testified under immunity. The defense opted not to call witnesses of its own, relying instead on aggressive cross-examination to discredit the government’s narrative.

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in September and denied bail after judges concluded he posed a risk to the community. As closing arguments approach, scheduled for Thursday, the case moves into its final stage, one that could determine the future of one of hip-hop’s most iconic and embattled figures.

Trump administration urges Supreme Court to approve controversial deportation flight to South Sudan

The Trump administration has escalated its legal battle over immigration enforcement, asking the Supreme Court on Tuesday to authorize the deportation of several migrants to South Sudan, a nation mired in conflict and instability, and where the individuals have no familial or national ties.

The request follows a Supreme Court ruling a day earlier that allowed U.S. immigration authorities to resume expedited deportations to third countries, effectively freezing a lower court’s injunction that had briefly given migrants the right to challenge such removals. But in Boston, U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy reportedly blocked a specific deportation flight headed for South Sudan, insisting that those on board must still be granted the opportunity to argue their fears of persecution or torture.

Despite the broader Supreme Court ruling, Judge Murphy maintained that his order on the flight, which had diverted to Djibouti in May, stood firm. “Migrants must still get a chance to argue in court that they’d be in danger of torture if sent there,” he found.

The Trump administration sharply rebuked the ruling in a court filing, accusing Murphy of obstructing foreign diplomacy and undermining executive power. They described the decision as “a lawless act of defiance that, once again, disrupts sensitive diplomatic relations and slams the brakes on the Executive’s lawful efforts to effectuate third-country removals.”

Lawyers representing the migrants warn that deporting individuals to South Sudan amounts to a death sentence. The country, which gained independence in 2011, has suffered from cycles of civil war, ethnic conflict, and political violence that continue to destabilize the region.

Attorneys noted their clients face the possibility of “imprisonment, torture and even death” if removed to the East African nation.

The standoff comes amid President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration clampdown, with renewed efforts to deport millions of undocumented migrants. Facing resistance from countries that refuse to take back deportees, the administration has signed deals with other nations, including Costa Rica and Panama to receive migrants under third-country transfer agreements.

Judge Murphy, a Biden appointee, has not barred deportations to such countries outright. Instead, his ruling emphasized that immigrants must be given a meaningful chance to demonstrate the risk of harm they face if sent elsewhere.

In this instance, Murphy concluded that immigration officials violated his directives when they sent a deportation flight out of the U.S. on short notice. The plane carried eight men from countries including Mexico, Vietnam, and Myanmar, all of whom had been convicted of serious crimes on American soil.

The Justice Department quickly appealed to the Supreme Court, asserting that Murphy had overreached. The court’s conservative majority granted the Trump administration’s request to stay the ruling, issuing a brief order through its emergency docket. The decision came without detailed reasoning, as is common in such cases.

All three liberal justices dissented, joining a scathing critique of the majority’s move to curtail due process protections for those facing deportation to some of the world’s most dangerous regions.

MOZAMBIQUE: Over 120 children abducted by jihadists in Cabo Delgado

Asurge in abductions by jihadist fighters in Mozambique’s troubled Cabo Delgado region has led to the kidnapping of at least 120 children in recent days, according to Human Rights Watch. The organization issued a warning Tuesday, highlighting an intensifying wave of child abductions in the north of the country.

Reports suggest the kidnapped children are being exploited by an Islamic State–affiliated group, locally known as al-Shabab. These minors are allegedly forced to haul stolen goods, endure grueling labor, and, in many cases, are coerced into becoming child soldiers or brides.

Mozambique’s struggle with Islamist insurgents in Cabo Delgado has persisted since 2017. Despite support from regional forces including those from Rwanda and South Africa, the government has yet to regain full control over the region.

In 2020, the insurgency’s brutality shocked the world when waves of attacks led to mass beheadings, including those of children. Survivors have recounted how abducted youth were trained and deployed in subsequent militant operations.

According to the United Nations, the relentless violence has uprooted over 600,000 people, with the conflict spilling over into neighboring provinces.

Human Rights Watch says the abduction rate has escalated significantly over the past two months. The group urged Mozambican authorities to intensify efforts to locate the missing children and protect vulnerable communities from further attacks.

While the crisis in Cabo Delgado rages on, it has largely been sidelined amid the country’s prolonged unrest following contested elections. The region has also faced repeated cyclone damage and suffered from foreign aid reductions under the Trump administration.

Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, who recently visited the region, described the situation as a “neglected crisis.”

“Climate shocks, increasing violence and spiralling hunger are having a terrible impact on the population,” Egeland stated in an AP report.

The NRC estimates more than 5 million Mozambicans are experiencing critical food insecurity, with nearly a million in emergency-level hunger.

Pusha T says he and Kanye West never saw “eye to eye” even when they were friends

Pusha T has revealed that he and Kanye West never saw “eye to eye” even when they were friends.

Sitting down for a chat with The New York Times’ Popcast, Pusha offered some insight into the dynamic between himself and his controversial former label boss.

The Clipse rapper said: “I don’t even know if I ever held my tongue. I always spoke to everything. But what you do with that information, in taking advice or perspective from me, that’s what you do. But I don’t regret any of it.”

King Push added: “I mean, we made great music. Outside of music, we’re nothing. Outside of that, his principles, his morals, his mindset — we don’t see eye to eye hardly ever and we never have.”

Sitting down for GQ earlier this month, the Virginia rapper did not speak fondly of West.

He said: “The one thing that I can say about [Ye] is that he knows that every issue that he’s having and crying about online right now, I’ve told him distinctly about those things. He don’t talk to me like he talks to others.”

Push continued: “His intuition is even more genius-level, right? But that’s why me and him don’t get along, because he sees through my fakeness with him. He knows I don’t think he’s a man. He knows it.”

“And that’s why we can’t build with each other no more. That’s why me and him don’t click, because he knows what I really, really think of him. He’s showed me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people.”

Drake Reveals His Staggering Gambling Losses

Drake has revealed the staggering amount of money that he has lost gambling so far over the last month alone.

Posting on his Instagram Stories, a screenshot of his gambling account revealed the 6 God had wagered almost $125 million over the last month and was more than $8 million in the hole.

The screenshot revealed that Drizzy had lost almost $6 million in the last week.

Drake also wrote: “Gotta share the other side of gambling… Losses are so fried right now. I hope I can post a big win for you all soon cause I’m the only one that has never seen a max these guys max once a week.”

Since posting the screenshot, Drake bet another $800,000 on the Oklahoma City Thunder to defeat the Indiana Pacers in game six of the NBA Finals, another wager that failed to come in.

Earlier this year, Drake revealed his biggest ever gambling win.

He said: “The biggest win I ever had, I was actually in Dave & Busters — and this is testament to playing in a brick-and-mortar casino versus playing on Stake.

“I was getting this random girl to call roulette numbers and I hit, like, eight out of 10 numbers. I think by the end of the night, we had won like $38 million, $40 million. Yeah, $40 million.”

He added: “It was crazy. The craziest night ever gambling, for sure. January of 2024 was crazy. There’s not even a word for it.”

Drake also revealed that he and NBA legend Michael Jordan, who he named his “gambling G.O.A.T.,” once got into a particularly intense game of table tennies with high stakes on the line.

“He’ll gamble on anything. I think it was All-Star Weekend in Toronto and he had an event to be at, and I beat him at ping pong a couple of times,” he recalled.

“He just wouldn’t leave the ping pong table. He just kept betting bands. Like, 10 bands, 20 bands. He kept betting ’cause he just couldn’t stomach the loss. He’s definitely not a quitter. I respect him deeply for his gambling nature.”

Drake has become particularly renowned in recent years for his poor form on sports betting, blowing through millions of dollars on boxing, UFC and NFL.

Iranians gather to celebrate ceasefire with Israel and what they call a ‘victory’ over Israel

On June 24, 2025, thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran’s Revolution Square to celebrate a ceasefire that ended a 12-day conflict with Israel, which they hailed as a “strategic triumph.”

Iranian state media and officials claimed the ceasefire as a victory, with crowds waving flags and chanting slogans supporting the nation’s military resilience.

The ceasefire, fostered by U.S. President Donald Trump, took effect at 7:30 a.m. local time; however, both sides quickly accused each other of violations following the announcement.

The conflict began on June 13 with what Iran described as an unprovoked Israeli attack targeting its nuclear and military facilities, including the Natanz and Fordow nuclear sites.

Israel claimed the strikes were necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran has consistently denied, asserting its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Over the 12 days of hate, Iranian authorities reported over 610 deaths and 4,746 injuries, with a significant portion of the casualties being civilians, according to Iran’s health ministry and the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency.

The report also stated that 28 people in Israel were confirmed killed, with the Israeli military reporting that all were civilians.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a statement carried by the state-run IRNA news agency, praised the “heroic resistance” of the Iranian people and declared the ceasefire a success, stating that Iran would respect the truce as long as Israel did the same.

He emphasized Iran’s readiness to return to nuclear negotiations with the U.S., signaling openness to diplomacy. However, tensions persisted as Israel accused Iran of launching missiles hours after the ceasefire, a claim Iran denied, asserting its strikes ceased before the deadline.

Donald Trump calls out CNN and New York Times over reports claiming US’ strike on Iran caused no damages

President Donald Trump has criticized CNN and The New York Times for reports suggesting U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities caused minimal or no significant damage.

The strikes, targeting sites at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, were part of “Operation Midnight Hammer” on June 22, 2025, aimed at disrupting Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump and his administration claimed the facilities were “completely obliterated,” citing satellite imagery and initial assessments showing severe damage.

However, a leaked Pentagon Defense Intelligence Agency report, cited by CNN, CBS, and BBC, indicated the strikes only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months, with underground facilities at Fordo largely intact.

The White House, through Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, called the assessment “flat-out wrong” and accused the media of demeaning Trump and discrediting the military’s efforts.

Trump, on Truth Social, dismissed the reports as “fake news” and emphasized the strikes’ success, warning Iran of further action if it did not pursue peace.Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, acknowledged the strikes but claimed damage was limited and reversible, with Fordo evacuated beforehand.

The conflicting narratives have fueled debate, with some lawmakers questioning the strikes’ legality and effectiveness.

A new X post revealed Trump’s frustration, accusing CNN and The New York Times of undermining the U.S. military’s achievements.

Zuma takes ANC expulsion to court

Zuma takes ANC expulsion to court

Former President Jacob Zuma has launched a legal bid to overturn the African National Congress’s (ANC) decision to expel him from the party, where he held membership for 65 years.

Zuma, now leading the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, decried the ANC’s action, claiming his loyalty to the “real ANC” cannot be erased by “puppets and sellouts.”

The ANC expelled Zuma in July 2024 for campaigning for the MK Party during the May 2024 general election, breaching party rules.

The MK Party has expressed full support for Zuma’s court challenge, framing it as a defense of his legacy.

The case, awaits a ruling as tensions between Zuma and the ANC deepen.

Lubinda, Sean Tembo  in near punch up as Tonse tempers fly in South Africa

Lubinda, Sean in near punch up as Tonse tempers fly in SA

PF and Tonse Alliance members who travelled to South Africa momentarily suspended mourning former president Edgar Lungu this morning and convened an emergency crisis meeting whose agenda was to resolve a stand-off between Given Lubinda and Sean Tembo.

Lubinda, who is PF makeshift leader and Tonse Alliance stand-in chairman has been in a cold war with Patriots for Economic Progress  (PeP) owner  Sean Tembo who also doubles as Tonse spokesperson for weeks now but their rivalry has been hidden from the public until this morning.

The fight for political relevance was this morning on full public display with everyone with bundles seeing for themselves before Tembo deleted the live video.

Posturing as Tonse Alliance spokesperson, Tembo rounded up his alliance ally Kelvin Bwalya Fube AKA KBF to sit by his side as he “addressed” the nation from the lobby of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton City.

Tembo, brimming with self-importance, barely got through two minutes of his monologue before the event was spectacularly hijacked.

Wright Musoma, an unapologetic Lubinda loyalist and part time political bouncer, stormed the press briefing and barked orders for all cameras to be switched off.

The room froze and so did Tembo’s ego as Musoma declared the presser null and void.

According to impeccable inside sources, the chaos stemmed from Tembo’s failure to inform or seek clearance from the rest of the alliance leadership before calling for the media briefing.

This did not sit well with Lubinda, who viewed the act as insubordination and a blatant attempt to undermine his authority.

Tempers flared as Lubinda and Tembo allegedly exchanged sharp words and came close to a physical altercation before fellow alliance members intervened, dragging the two into a closed door meeting to iron out their differences.

The crisis meeting which stretched into an hour was reportedly focusing on leadership structure, communication protocol and Tembo’s future role in the alliance.

After the meeting, Tembo and Lubinda along with other Tonse members once again gathered before the glare of cameras with what looked like forced smiles as the addressed an official presser.

According to PF insiders, KBF was Lungu’s anointed “heir”  of the PF and Tonse Alliance throne, although Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has rejected suggestions that the former president had endorsed anyone as his successor.

Lungu died on June 5, in South African hospital although a stand off between government and hos family has delayed his burial which may not happen until August.

Lungu’s burial, which was supposed to take place yesterday in South Africa after failed negotiations with the government, was once again halted, this time by the Pretoria High Court, following a challenge from Zambia’s Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha.

This marks the third time Lungu’s burial has been suspended, leaving mourners frustrated and observers wondering whether his final resting place will ever be agreed upon.

In the meantime, Lungu’s funeral continues to a platform of competition of press briefings and photo ops amongst the country’s political players.

GOVERNEMENT PLAYING POLITICS WITH A DEAD MAN — Sean E. Tembo  SLAMS GOVT OVER LUNGU BURIAL DISPUTE

GOVERNEMENT PLAYING POLITICS WITH A DEAD MAN — Sean E. Tembo  SLAMS GOVT OVER LUNGU BURIAL DISPUTE

In a press briefing, Sean Tembo accused the government of disrespecting Lungu’s last wishes. He claims the government is refusing to honor Edgar Lungu’s dying wishes and the family’s request to bury him in South Africa.

“Why can’t the government respect the wishes of the family?” he said.

Sean Tembo says the government waited until the last minute to obtain a court injunction, after all preparations (travel, church service, etc.) were already in place. He questions whether this was done intentionally to cause pain and disruption.

“Was their decision to get an injunction at the very last minute designed to inflict maximum pain on us and the family…?” he said.

He directly states that the government is politicizing the funeral of Edgar Lungu. He sees the government’s behavior as cruel and calculated, not administrative.

“We understand and appreciate that you are trying to do politics over this funeral,” he said.

He suggests that the state’s behavior is heartless, showing no sympathy for the mourning family and the public. He asks whether this is intentional cruelty or just negligence.

“Please, have sympathy… Was it designed to inflict maximum pain…?” Sean Tembo slammed.

He says that because of the government’s actions, the eventual burial will feel like a second, more painful funeral, implying emotional trauma has been worsened by state interference.

“It will be like we are having a second funeral… a source of even greater pain…”

Lungu Was an Extra Ordinary Man, Deserves Dignified Rest- Given Lubinda

Lubinda: ECL Was an Extra Ordinary Man, Deserves Dignified Rest

Johannesburg | By Staff Reporter | 26 June 2025

As Zambia enters day 21 of mourning since the passing of its sixth President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, opposition Patriotic Front (PF) acting president Given Lubinda has described the late leader as an “extra ordinary man” whose life, presidency and death have stirred the soul of the nation.

Speaking in Johannesburg during a sombre media briefing flanked by opposition leaders Kelvin Bwalya Fube (KBF) and Sean Tembo, Lubinda lamented the unresolved state of the former president’s funeral, calling it both painful and unnecessary.

“Edgar Lungu, whom we mourn today, was an extra ordinary man in life and presidency—hence the extra ordinary developments we’ve seen after his death,” Lubinda said. “He was special. Just think about how Madam Esther Lungu and her children are feeling right now—deep grief, a hole in the heart that no court judgment can fill.”

President Lungu, who passed away on June 5, 2025 at the age of 68, has not yet been buried due to legal wrangles surrounding his final resting place. His widow, former First Lady Esther Lungu, has been fighting in the Pretoria High Court for the right to bury him privately in South Africa, a decision halted by Zambia’s Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha.

Lubinda challenged Kabesha to publicly disclose how much taxpayer money has been spent on hiring top-tier South African lawyers to block the burial. “This isn’t pocket change. Did he consult Zambians before engaging in such a divisive court case that has left a widow and a nation in limbo?”

He added, “The decisions around President Lungu’s body must revolve around Mrs. Lungu. Every moment her husband remains unburied is a form of punishment.”

Despite the legal halt, Lubinda remained hopeful, suggesting the delay may offer time for the opposition to regroup and prepare a fitting farewell when the time comes. “Ultimately, the resting place must be Zambia. But we thank South Africa for ‘storing’ his remains with dignity.”

He called on mourners returning from Johannesburg—many of whom travelled over 1,500 kilometres by road, air and private transport—to head back to Zambia “more united than when they came.”

Lungu, remembered as a humble statesman, great unifier, and father of infrastructure, remains suspended in state—his final journey not yet over, his nation still waiting.

BILL 7: Don’t Defer, Abandon Constitutional Proposed Amendments- Amb Emmanuel Mwamba

Don’t Defer, Abandon Constitutional Proposed Amendments

Thursday, 26th June 2025

We wish to state that the decision by President Hakainde Hichilema to direct the Minister of Justice to defer Bill 7 comes after serious backlash and after wholesome rejection of the proposed constitutional amendments.

However, we must remain alert and not fall for this gimmick.

The proposed constitutional amendments must be abandoned as there is no adequate time to establish public consensus as general elections are near and sadly the process has been driven by the President and his UPND party instead of a process led by the people.

We wish to warn that the deferment is not well-intentioned and remain a trick up his sleeves as shown by similar gesture in the recent past.

Zambians must remember that President Hakainde Hichilema did the same to the Cyber  Crimes  and Cyber Security Bills purporting that they needed wide consultation only for the bills to be reintroduced and quickly passed as law without due regard to any public and stakeholders’ concerns.

We also wish to register serious concerns regarding the remarks made by the President when he met some civil society grouping where he alleged that he had noted that his policies and constitional proposals are vehemently met with serious and unjustified opposition because he is a “pariah ” and because he comes from a certain region.

These remarks were unfortunate and the victim-hood posture he assumes is dangerous as it is NOT based on the Truth.

The cyber laws, the proposed constitutional-making process and for example the sale of Mopani Copper Mines were opposed because they did not meet minimum public consultations, or publicly accepted processes and consultations.

The President must desist from making tribal or regional statements that serve only to divide the country or continue to polarise the divide, threatening national unity.

To ensure additional stakeholder input, the President has guided the Minister of Justice to work closely with the church, civil society, and other stakeholders to review the current roadmap and proposed amendments.
