Tensions Rock MMD as Eastern Province Members Reject Leadership Elections, Slam Party President

Tensions Rock MMD as Eastern Province Members Reject Leadership Elections, Slam Party President

A fresh wave of internal revolt has erupted within the opposition Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD), as senior party figures in Eastern Province openly reject the outcome of a provincial convention held earlier this week.

MMD Chipata District Chairman Isaac Jere has launched a scathing attack on the party’s national leadership, branding the recent provincial elections as illegitimate and unconstitutional. In a strongly worded statement, Jere accused the party president of manipulating internal processes and called on him to “step aside from politics and return to his church pulpit where he belongs.”

Jere’s sentiments were echoed by Eastern Province Information and Publicity Secretary Zephania Kaleya, who dismissed the recently announced alliance between MMD and the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) as a “unilateral decision that holds no water among grassroots members.” Kaleya described the move as a betrayal of the party’s independence and a desperate attempt by the president to remain politically relevant.

“These decisions are not made in the backroom. Our party is not a personal project. The president cannot drag us into alliances that undermine our values,” Kaleya charged.

In response, MMD National Spokesperson Phillip Brendel dismissed the dissenters’ claims as “baseless and malicious.” Brendel defended the integrity of the convention, insisting the elections were “free, fair, and transparent,” and emphasized that the outgoing leaders were given full opportunity to recontest their positions.

“What we’re witnessing is classic sour grapes. Those who failed to secure support are now crying foul,” Brendel stated.

The internal wrangling signals deeper fractures within the former ruling party, raising serious questions about its cohesion, leadership, and future ahead of the 2026 general elections. As the party wrestles with its identity and direction, critics argue that the MMD risks descending further into political irrelevance if unity is not restored.

HABAZOKA PREDICTS MAIZE PRICE REDUCTION FOR 2025 CROP MARKETING  SEASON

HABAZOKA PREDICTS MAIZE PRICE REDUCTION FOR 2025 CROP MARKETING  SEASON

By: Sun FM TV Reporter

Economist Lubinda Habazoka has predicted a downward adjustment in maize prices for the 2025 crop marketing season, citing an anticipated oversupply following the country’s bumper harvest of 3.6 million metric tonnes.

In 2024 the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) set k330 as the maize floor price for a 50kg bag equivalent to k6,600 per metric tonne.

Speaking when he featured on Hot FM’s Hot Seat program, Dr. Habazoka warned that increased supply on the market will likely lead to reduced prices, potentially lowering demand and discouraging farmers who had hoped for better prices.

He is concerned that while affordable mealie meal is critical for consumers, the government through  the Food Reserve Agency must carefully balance pricing policies to protect the interests of farmers who rely on maize production for profit.

Dr. Habazoka has since cautioned that if prices are lowered too much, many farmers may be forced to switch to alternative crops such as soya beans.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA SHOULD BE TRANSPARENT OVER HIS ASSETS – ACTIONAID

ACTIONAID Executive Director Faides Tembatemba says as an accountability champion, it will be good for President Hakainde Hichilema to be transparent especially regarding his assets

In an interview, Saturday, Tembatemba was commenting on the auctioning of the President’s 3,000 bulls at his Choma farm on Sunday at which it was projected he would make K90 million.

She asked what other assets the President owned. “So, it would be good for him to be transparent to all the Zambian people, and it will be good for him to be accountable to the Zambian people,” Tembatemba said.

“Because as a leader you are a lead accountability champion and therefore, we would really want to see that the President is taking lead.

UPND POPULARITY SOARS AS GOVERNMENT DELIVERS ON KEY NATIONAL REFORMS – MARK SIMUUWE

UPND POPULARITY SOARS AS GOVERNMENT DELIVERS ON KEY NATIONAL REFORMS – MARK SIMUUWE

Lusaka, Monday – United Party for National Development (UPND) Media Director Mark Simuuwe says the ruling party’s popularity continues to surge as more Zambians embrace the development agenda being implemented since President Hakainde Hichilema assumed office in 2021.

Speaking during a Prime TV, Oxygen of Democracy Program, Mr. Simuuwe said the UPND has achieved significant milestones that have transformed the economic landscape from a state of negative growth to a path of recovery and optimism, bolstering investor confidence in the country.

He said the UPND has continued to receive defections and many Zambians joining the party across the country.

“Our record speaks for itself. We have moved from economic decline to steady recovery, restored investor confidence, and more importantly, we are seeing Zambians—especially from the opposition—joining the UPND because they see that we are delivering on our promises,” said Mr. Simuuwe.

He cited several flagship achievements, including the successful implementation of free education, the expansion of the Social Cash Transfer programme, and the reintroduction of meal allowances for students at all seven public universities.

Mr. Simuuwe also highlighted the government’s investment in human capital through mass recruitment in the education, health, and defense sectors. He added that the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is now funding skills training and bursaries for youth across the country.

“Debt restructuring has been a game-changer, judicial reforms are underway with the establishment of the Financial and Economic Crimes Court, and we are revamping the mining sector with progress at Mopani and KCM. Even long-overdue payments to farmers and suppliers are being made,” he said.

Mr. Simuuwe said the UPND has restored the rule of law, ended political violence and caderism, and ensured inclusive representation in Cabinet.

He further stated that media freedom has been guaranteed, with President Hichilema committing that no media house will be shut down under his leadership.

“Zambians remember how Prime TV was shut down under the previous regime. Today, media houses operate freely. That’s real democracy,” Mr. Simuuwe added.

He said the country’s bumper harvest is expected to drive down mealie meal prices, which will contribute to reduced commodity costs and improve household welfare.

“As more citizens witness these changes in their daily lives, the UPND continues to grow stronger,” Mr. Simuuwe said.

CDF Has Crowned Us With Honor and Respect – Chief Kashiba

CDF Has Crowned Us With Honor and Respect – Chief Kashiba

By Bakwetu Reporter

Chief Kashiba of the Lunda people of Mwense District in Luapula Province has appreciated government’s efforts in national development through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The traditional leader said that the success of decentralization lies in empowering people to play a role in driving their own development.

“When it comes to the commendable decentralization policy and the CDF, people must have a say in what they need in their communities. This principle must be followed for decentralization to have real meaning in CDF utilization,” he said.

He thanked the government for including the construction of chiefs’ palaces in CDF projects, calling it a long-overdue recognition of traditional authority.

“You would find that politicians were living in mansions, while traditional leaders were living in ramshackles. Previously, we were not dignified. But thanks to the New Dawn Government, we now have the respect we deserve,” he said.

Chief Kashiba also pointed out that the construction of chiefs’ palaces has granted chiefs the honor they deserve.

“We’ve seen how the welfare of traditional leaders is improving through the construction of palaces. This has truly restored our dignity,” he noted.

He said this when Luapula Province Minister, Eng. Nason Musonda paid a courtesy call at his palace recently.

UPND calls for Unity on Constitution Amendment Process

UPND calls for Unity on Constitution Amendment Process

By Ruth Chayinda

UPND Secretary General BATUKE IMENDA has expressed concern over the partisan divisions overshadowing the national debate on the Constitution Amendment process.

Mr. IMENDA says the process should not be viewed solely through a legal or political lens but embraced as a national moment that calls for unity and the suspension of partisan interests.

He notes that while some opposition groups have welcomed the proposed amendments, others – including factions within the Patriotic Front –PF- have reversed their earlier support for reforms they once championed in 2019.

Mr. IMENDA says this inconsistency highlights the need for a more objective and patriotic approach to national matters.

He adds that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s administration views this not as a time for political posturing, but as a defining opportunity to build a future-oriented constitutional framework.

In a statement released to ZNBC News today, Mr. IMENDA emphasized that the proposed reforms aim to promote national development and safeguard the rights and representation of all citizens.

He cited political figures such as Kanchibiya Member of Parliament SUNDAY CHANDA and MMD President NEVERS MUMBA as examples of leaders who have embraced the amendment process in pursuit of a more inclusive and progressive constitution, in contrast to the failed Bill 10 under the previous administration.

Mr. IMENDA also acknowledged the input of labour leaders, including the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU, who have supported the bill as essential for democratic and institutional development.

He dismissed claims by some opposition figures that the Bill seeks to abolish the 50%+1 vote requirement for electing a President, calling such assertions false.

“The Bill retains the 50%+1 provision and instead focuses on strengthening democratic participation,” he clarified. This includes proposals to increase the number of constituencies from 156 to 211 to enhance representation, and the introduction of proportional representation to ensure the inclusion of youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

Mr. IMENDA further noted that the current administration has already demonstrated its commitment to grassroots development through substantial increases in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

He has since called on all citizens to engage with the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill 2025 in good faith, stressing that true democracy is built not on division, but through dialogue, cooperation, and collective progress.- ZNBC

GOVT. INTENSIFIES CONSULTATIONS ON PROPOSED BILL NO. 7

GOVT. INTENSIFIES CONSULTATIONS ON PROPOSED BILL NO. 7…

Government has intensified nationwide consultations on the proposed Constitutional Amendments Bill no. 7 of 2025.

Speaking during stakeholders engagements in Kasama, Minister of Justice Princess Kasune called for inclusivity and grassroots input in shaping the legal framework.

Ms. Kasune explained that the proposed amendment supports equity, through women, the disabled, and youth representation in parliament.

“For the first time in history, we will have proportional representation for women, youths, and persons with disabilities; this is aimed at ensuring inclusiveness,” Ms. Kasune stated.

She disclosed that key proposed constitutional amendments include the creation of 55 new constituencies to ensure equitable resource distribution, which will see 20 reserved seats for women, 12 for youths, and three for persons with disabilities under the proportional representation.

The justice Minister said all the traditional leaders in Northern Province have endorsed the constitution amendment bill.

“This is the fourth province where the Royal highness has endorsed the constitution amendment bill. And they have appreciated being seen as important stakeholders in the constitutional amendment bill process”, she said.

After the movie trailer was released on April 18th, 2025, the movie got a lot of people on media talking to seeing the trailer hitting over 500,000 views on Wyclif Mwamba’s Facebook page.

The movie screening, which took place yesterday, May 31st, 2025, at Levy Cinemas, saw queues as over 2,000 people lined up to watch the movie highlighting a powerful marketing strategy and how much people anticipated the premier.

“We had a successful premier last night. Thanks for(to) everyone who came through,” wrote Wyclif Mwamba in appreciation of the support he received.

SIMUUWE CLARIFIES DELIMITATION, DEFENDS CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT BILL AS STATUTORY AND INCLUSIVE

SIMUUWE CLARIFIES DELIMITATION, DEFENDS CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT BILL AS STATUTORY AND INCLUSIVE

Lusaka – UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe has clarified and defended the proposed Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill No. 7 of 2025, stating that the process is legal, timely, and aimed at enhancing inclusive governance, electoral fairness, and cost-efficiency.

Speaking during the Oxygen of Democracy program on Prime TV, Mr. Simuuwe clarified that the process of constituency delimitation is not an opinion held by the ruling UPND, but a statutory requirement mandated by law. He emphasized that even in the absence of the Bill, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) would still carry out delimitation based on population growth and geographical demands.

“Delimitation is guided by statute. It is not a matter of political choice or opinion. It is a legal responsibility to ensure fair representation as population and settlement patterns change,” Mr. Simuuwe stated.

He also explained that there is no legal obligation for ECZ to make its delimitation recommendations public. He pointed out that a similar report was submitted in 2019 but was never made public, reinforcing that the Commission’s mandate is to recommend to the Executive, which then gazettes a bill for parliamentary debate.

“No law has been broken in ECZ not publishing the current report. The legal framework only requires ECZ to submit recommendations to the Executive,” he said.

On the amendment process itself, Mr. Simuuwe highlighted that altering the Constitution follows a clearly defined legal path. He noted that only the Bill of Rights requires a referendum, a provision altered in 1969 to leave all other amendments under parliamentary jurisdiction.

“The legislative authority lies with Parliament. The Constitution provides for its own amendment, and the process being followed is consistent with Article 79,” he explained.

He further addressed concerns around the addition of parliamentary seats, noting that increased population and geography necessitate more constituencies to ensure effective representation, especially for women, youth, and marginalized groups.

As part of the proposed reforms, Mr. Simuuwe said political parties would be legally required to field a defined number of women, youths, and persons with disabilities in elections. This, he said, goes beyond discretionary presidential appointments and represents a deliberate move to dismantle structural barriers to political participation.

“The current provision for the President to nominate eight MPs does not guarantee inclusion of women or youth. We must embed inclusivity in law to ensure equity, not just depend on presidential goodwill,” he said.

Mr. Simuuwe also outlined key financial and governance reforms contained in the Bill, notably the proposal to allow political parties to replace elected officials who vacate their seats without triggering by-elections—except in the case of independents.

“This change will save the country millions of kwacha which can instead go toward development priorities like education, health, and Constituency Development Fund (CDF),” he said.

He added that additional reforms include a fixed five-year term for all Mayors, Council Chairpersons, and Councillors, with their offices to be vacated 90 days before general elections. Similarly, ministers will also be required to step down 90 days before elections, in order to prevent misuse of public resources during campaigns.

Mr. Simuuwe further emphasized the importance of legal clarity, saying the Bill introduces standard definitions: children as individuals under 18, youth as those aged 18 to 35, and adults as 18 and above. These definitions will streamline policy implementation and improve judicial consistency.

He urged stakeholders to engage with the draft Bill constructively and stressed that Members of Parliament have the mandate to legislate throughout their term, which makes the current timing of the constitutional amendment process both lawful and appropriate.

“This is a critical moment to strengthen Zambia’s democratic framework. Let’s focus on national interest, not partisanship,” Mr. Simuuwe said.

“HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS GETTING HIMSELF INTO” – IVANKA BIANCA SPEAKS ON NEW HUSBAND

“HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS GETTING HIMSELF INTO” – IVANKA BIANCA SPEAKS ON NEW HUSBAND

While on Diamond TV’s ONE THE TABLE in February 2025, 28 years old socialite Hope Chileshe, popularly known as Ivanka Bianca, spoke to Chimweka Chileshe on her  meeting with her husband and accepting her character.

“He knew what he was getting himself into. It wasn’t the type of a thing where no, maybe I was pretending to be something I wasn’t and stuff like that,” Ivanka Bianca opened up about always showing her husband her authentic version even before getting married.

Ivanka Bianca also revealed that her relationship with her husband started as friends before it culminated into an intimate one and then the two later procreating – a baby they would unfortunately lose in December of 2024 during labour, an ordeal so painful, she cried when explaining. “The guy was very supportive,” added Ivanka Bianca when reflecting on the bad experience.

Chimweka alluded that according to his observations off camera, there are two versions of Ivanka Bianca – an online version and “HOPE” – the in-person version, and her husband understands the “HOPE” version better. An assertion she agreed with further stating that she confuses the two characters like other people often do.

He would later ask about their relationship, to which she responded that they are married with all formalities done. “Yeah, we are married now, actually,” she said. She further revealed that her husband does not like social media, he is not on any social platforms, and he wants to keep things private.

A few days ago, images of Ivanka Bianca and her husband’s Chilanga Mulilo went viral. The news of her marriage sent shock waves across social media with social users throwing jabs at women regarded as “good women” and “prayerful” saying someone who’s character is highly criticised has gotten married before them.

Zambia Hosts 8th African World Heritage Committee Preparatory Meeting in Livingstone

Zambia Hosts 8th African World Heritage Committee Preparatory Meeting in Livingstone

………Heritage, Tourism, and Regional Development at the Forefront of Africa’s United Agenda

Zambia is positioning itself as a continental hub for heritage-driven investment and sustainable tourism following the successful hosting of the 8th African World Heritage Committee Preparatory Meeting in Livingstone. This landmark event brought together African UNESCO ambassadors, heritage experts, and policy-makers to align strategies ahead of the 47th World Heritage Committee Session, scheduled for July in Paris.

The meeting was officially opened by the Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Africa Group V(a) under UNESCO, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, MP, who emphasized the commercial and diplomatic significance of Africa’s unified approach to heritage preservation.

“This gathering reflects not only our shared commitment to the 1972 UNESCO World Heritage Convention but also our determination to ensure Africa’s voice is decisive and influential in global heritage governance,” said Hon. Sikumba.

“For Zambia, this is more than heritage, it is about leveraging our cultural and natural assets as key drivers of economic growth, tourism investment, and job creation.”

With global travel trends leaning toward cultural and eco-tourism, the African continent, rich in heritage and biodiversity, has an unprecedented opportunity to turn its underrepresented World Heritage Sites into engines of sustainable development.

Speaking at the event, Engineer Munyaradzi Munodawafa, CEO of the Zambezi River Authority, stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in balancing economic development with conservation:

“The Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls Declaration reflects our resolve to harmonize energy development with heritage protection. It’s a model that proves African institutions can lead innovative, sustainable infrastructure planning without compromising our cultural legacy.”

Ambassador Judith Mulenga, Zambia’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, also highlighted the strategic impact of Zambia’s leadership:

“Our active role in hosting this meeting enhances Zambia’s global visibility, inviting partnerships and investment in both conservation and heritage-based tourism enterprises.”

Dr. Albino Jopela, Executive Director of the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF), noted that Africa’s low representation on the World Heritage List is not just a cultural gap, it’s a missed economic opportunity:

“We must ensure our cultural landscapes and historical assets are globally recognized, not just for preservation, but for the broader socio-economic benefits they bring tourism revenue, infrastructure funding, and youth employment.”

Adding to the national agenda, Mr. Kagosi Mwamulowe, Acting Executive Director of the National Heritage Conservation Commission (NHCC), outlined Zambia’s blueprint for sustainable heritage growth:

“Zambia is committed to integrating heritage into national planning. Projects like the Barotse Cultural Landscape nomination are part of our broader effort to attract investment, build institutional capacity, and create business opportunities for local communities through eco-tourism and cultural enterprise.”

The event, held in Livingstone, home to the World Heritage-listed Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls, reinforced Zambia’s image as a tourism powerhouse. The city is increasingly becoming a launchpad for regional tourism investments, infrastructure upgrades, and heritage-focused SMEs.

By hosting this preparatory meeting, Zambia has sent a strong message to global investors, tour operators, and development agencies: heritage is no longer just about preservation it’s a cornerstone for sustainable business and economic resilience in Africa.

With the continent rallying behind a shared agenda, and Zambia at the helm, the heritage sector is emerging as one of the most untapped and promising frontiers for investment in Africa.

Bill Gates to give most of his $200bn fortune to Africa

Bill Gates to give most of his $200bn fortune to Africa

(BBC) Microsoft founder Bill Gates says that most of his fortune will be spent on improving health and education services in Africa over the next 20 years

The 69-year-old said that “by unleashing human potential through health and education, every country in Africa should be on a path to prosperity”.

Speaking in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa, he also urged Africa’s young innovators to think about how to build Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve healthcare on the continent.

Gates announced last month that he would give away 99% of his vast fortune – which he expects to reach $200bn (£150bn) – by 2045, by when his foundation planned to end its operations.

“I recently made a commitment that my wealth will be given away over the next 20 years. The majority of that funding will be spent on helping you address challenges here in Africa,” he said in an address at the African Union (AU) headquarters.

Mozambique’s former First Lady Graça Machel welcomed his announcement, saying it came in a “moment of crisis”.

“We are counting on Mr Gates’ steadfast commitment to continue walking this path of transformation alongside us,” she said.

The US government has cut aid to Africa, including programmes to treat patients with HIV and AIDS as part of US President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy, raising concerns about the future of healthcare on the continent.

Gates said his foundation, which has a long history of operating in Africa, would focus on improving primary healthcare.

Bill Gates, who founded tech giant Microsoft, is the fifth-richest person in the world.

Trump admits tariffs could backfire

President Donald Trump is warning of possible “economic ruination” if the courts do not allow his massive, unilateral tariffs to stay in place, in an apparent admittance they could backfire.

The President suggested on Sunday that after he imposed tariffs, and other countries hit back with retaliatory measures, those foreign penalties might stick—penalties triggered by his own actions.

“If the Courts somehow rule against us on Tariffs, which is not expected, that would allow other Countries to hold our Nation hostage with their anti-American Tariffs that they would use against us,” Trump wrote in a social media post. “This would mean the Economic ruination of the United States of America!”

Last week, the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT) unanimously ruled that Trump’s imposition of his so-called “Liberation Day” tariffs via the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was unlawful, and that a president does not hold unlimited authority to impose tariffs at will. The ruling was stayed by a higher court pending appeal.

Absent from Trump’s remarks was that the court suggested there were other ways to go about imposing tariffs, such as partnering with Congress, as the Constitution dictates.

Former Trump White House Communications Director Anthony Scarmucci on Monday noted, “Amazing Trump’s lack of understanding of the economy and consequences of his alienation of pretty much every country.”

On Friday, Trump wrongly suggested the founders gave the power of taxation and tariffs to the President. They gave that power to Congress.

Trump’s Garden of Heroes plan leaves artists offended

Artists see a President Donald Trump’s plan to create a National Garden of American Heroes as “trolling” and not “very serious,” according to a Politico report.

“It seems completely unworkable,” Daniel Kunitz, editor of Sculpture magazine, told Politico.

The National Endowment for the Humanities is seeking to commission 250 statues of famous Americans from a predetermined list, to be displayed at a location yet to be determined. The statue garden coincides with an executive order from March 2025 in which the Trump administration denounced what it saw as historical revisionism and aimed to construct a story of the nation that portrayed it as inherently great.

And experts claim the administration might even struggle to find artists to work on it.

“Low opinions of Trump in the artistic community could dissuade some applicants,” Politico’s Michael Schaffer wrote. “And while the commissions are $200,000 per statue, it seems less lavish when you consider the costs of casting and base material, which the administration says must be marble, granite, bronze, copper, or brass.”

Another problem: many U.S.-based sculptors don’t make traditional figurative work and need more than just a year to develop detailed work.

“A year is highly unlikely,” Kunitz said.

Dylan Farnum, who ran one of the best-regarded fine-art foundries in America, added, “You’d be flooding the capacity of artists in this country who do that kind of stuff, and the capacity of foundries.”

“It’s easy to AI-render a Dick Van Dyke sculpture,” Farnum said. “So much easier than actually getting it done.”

From questions like where the garden would be (a location has not been officially announced) to how much collaboration the artist would have to do with the Trump administration, there is a lot in the air, making it difficult for artists to say yes.

Schaffer also noted that “it’s Hard to imagine Trump-appointed leadership waiving its right to review whatever some artist cooks up.”

The NEH also didn’t respond to Politico’s request for comment.

Politico noted, “political fury has distracted attention from the basic logistics of the plan — and from the question of whether the end product would, as a simple matter of aesthetics, be worthy of a great country.”

Posing the latter question to Kunitz, the answer seems to be Nope. “It doesn’t seem to be very serious,” Kunitz said. “It’s sort of trolling.”

“It’s a classic artistic divide for a populist age,” Schaffer wrote. “Should a project aim for mass appeal, a spot for Instagram selfies and zany poses? Or should it, as conservative cultural critics have long insisted, seek to be a lasting masterwork of civilization?”

Trump-appointed judge hands president a loss

A California judge appointed by President Donald Trump ruled on Monday to block the administration from deporting a Venezuelan national under the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) — but not for the reason other judges have ruled in the past.

Politico legal reporter Kyle Cheney cited the judge on Bluesky, explaining that the administration hasn’t provided adequate notice to Darwin Antonio Arvealo Millan or given him due process under the law.

The judge ruled that Trump has “virtually unreviewable authority to invoke the AEA,” Cheney wrote, which makes it a win for Trump. What he took issue with was that the government didn’t give Arevalo Millan, or any other migrant being targeted by the AEA, any advance opportunity to challenge the decisions in court.

In short, the AEA’s grant of authority to the President is close to ‘unlimited,’ … and it includes the ability to decide whether an invasion or predatory incursion has occurred,” the judge wrote. “As such, this Court cannot construe those terms without constraining the President’s authority under the AEA.

“In view of Congress’s decision to grant that authority to the President, that constraint is one that courts, which too ‘often suffer the infirmity of confusing the issue of a power’s validity with the cause it is invoked to promote’ and ‘of confounding the permanent executive office with its temporary occupant,’ must decline to impose. Court concludes that Arevalo is unlikely to succeed on the merits of his claim that the Proclamation is unlawful.”

‘My tolerance with the American Jews’ has ‘completely run out’

MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk reacted to a Sunday attack on pro-Israeli demonstrators in Colorado by saying his “tolerance with the American Jews” had “run out” because they support Democrats.

On his Monday podcast, Kirk insisted that American Jews and Christians should not be in public without a firearm.

“If you are a Jewish American or a Christian, for that matter, you should walk around armed,” he said. “If you are a Jewish person in this country, you should never leave your house without a firearm… If you’re a Jewish person, you should have a firearm on you at all times.”

Kirk then predicted that he would be called an anti-Semite because he had lost “tolerance” for American Jews.

“To the Jews of America, how are you still voting Democrat, and why are you still giving money to the institutions and the charities and the political parties that hate you and want you dead?” he asked. “My tolerance with the American Jews that are giving money and playing footsie with the American left is nothing. In fact, my patience has completely run out.”

“So you want the borders to stay wide open so more young Jews could be hunted down in the streets?” he added. “And I have to ask the Jews of America, do you have a death wish?”

“Why is it that I, as an American Christian, have to be the one that speaks out? I guess it’s just my job. But there should be, and it won’t be, there should be Jews marching in the streets with all the combined financial and political power that American Jews have, which is quite a lot because Jews are very successful because they honor the Torah. You honor the Torah, you’re going to be successful. You value education. If all the Jews got together, they could close immigration immediately. Why haven’t they, exactly?”

Lindsey Graham slammed as he aims drowning threat at Greta Thunberg

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is coming under fire for what some called a “threat” he made aimed at Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Over the weekend, Thunberg joined other activists on a ship carrying aid from Sicily to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The supplies included baby formula, flour, rice, and diapers, and was described by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition as “limited amounts, though symbolic”.

Graham, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, retweeted a Times of Israel story showing Thunberg onboard the ship with the headline, “Greta Thunberg sets sail with Gaza flotilla that aims to break Israeli naval blockade.”

“Hope Greta and her friends can swim!” he wrote.

Social media users immediately pounced on Graham’s comment as a “threat.”

“Why is a 69-year-old U.S. senator joking about the drowning of a 22-year-old Swedish activist? Is this where American politics is now?” wrote journalist Brian McDonald.

“Why would a US senator be threatening a young climate activist?” wrote the account of @xIsraelExposedx to their 66,000 followers.

The account @Darkiora, followed by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie wrote, “Just casually threatening the life of a young girl that wants to feed a starving besieged population where half are children. How do Americans accept this behavior.”

“Are you aware that you are a sitting US Senator??” wrote @DeTocqueville14.

“You are a disgrace to the dignity of the U.S. Senate and your legacy will reflect how you desperately misused your power in return for money,” wrote @moorehn.

Free Speech attorney Jenin Younis wrote, “If I were a sitting congressman working on behalf of a foreign country and against Americans, I’d try not to make it so obvious.”

Writer Patti Mohr posted, “That’s a disgusting comment, Senator Graham. You might find starving millions of people funny but the rest of us don’t. Real Americans are for human dignity, rights, and freedom. You’ve been in Washington way too long.”

Drake is now first artist in history with 10 RIAA diamond certifications

Drake has made history as the artist with the most RIAA diamond-certified records. The Recording Industry Association of America confirmed on Wednesday that two more of the Toronto rapper’s hits, “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Best I Ever Had,” have officially hit diamond status. That brings his total in that category to 10.

“Drake has the most RIAA Diamond Certifications of any artist, ever,” the RIAA said in an Instagram post featuring a graphic of all 10 plaques.

Drake’s diamond collection includes “God’s Plan,” “One Dance,” “Hotline Bling,” “SICKO MODE” with Travis Scott, “Life Is Good” with Future, “Love Me” with Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown’s “No Guidance.” “Nice for What,” which is currently at nine-times platinum, could soon earn the rapper another Diamond plaque.

This latest feat breaks the tie between him, Garth Brooks (who has nine diamond albums), and Post Malone (who has nine diamond singles). It also makes Drake the first artist to hit double digits across both singles and albums.

Since his 2010 debut, “Thank Me Later”, every album Drake has released has topped the U.S. Billboard charts.

Considered one of the greatest rap artists of all time, his latest release, “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U”, a joint project with PARTYNEXTDOOR, has two singles charting — “Nokia” at No. 12 and “Somebody Loves Me” at No. 77 on the Billboard Hot 100.

50 Cent Does Not Want Diddy Pardoned By Donald Trump

50 Cent has made it clear that he does not want Diddy to be pardoned by Donald Trump if found guilty of sex trafficking.

Trump initially said he would “consider” a pardon for Diddy after having a “look at the facts”.

However, this did not sit right with occasional Trump supporter and number one Diddy troll, 50 Cent.

In response to the news, 50 wrote: “He said some really bad things about Trump, it’s not OK. Im gonna reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy.”

50 later added: “I didn’t say I would Nuke anything, I simply said I will make sure Trump is aware.”

It has been long rumored that Diddy would see a pardon from the president if he was convicted in his sex trafficking trial.

Suge Knight has admitted he is very confident that Diddy will escape prison by appealing to Trump.

The currently incarcerated Death Row Records co-founder was speaking to NewsNation about his longtime enemy’s current trial.

During the interview, Suge said: “I think he’s got some favors with the government. I think they’re gonna show him a little leeway. It might not seem like it when it’s all said and done, but I don’t think he has nothing to worry about, and I don’t think he’s worried because he’s gonna be federal, and if he gets convicted, Trump’s gonna pardon him.”

The controversial rap mogul added: “I still feel that Puffy is going to be alright and have a fair shot at it. He’s not a not a dummy. And I’m quite sure somebody going to talk to those jurors and convince one or two of them that’s all you need, is one.”

Knight has also opined that he does not believe Diddy should go to prison at all.

He said: “I say this all the time, Puffy and I are not friends, but Puffy should definitely walk free.”

Suge added: “The most important thing is that it was other executives that was involved in Puff’s life. And for Puffy to be the only guy that gets on the stand is a sad day for Hip Hop.”

Mike Lindell claims ‘Satan’ controls voting machines ahead of defamation trial

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell said “Satan” was behind allegedly rigged voting machines ahead of his defamation trial.

At a press conference outside the courthouse in Denver on Monday, Lindell was asked who had access to the computer algorithms that he claimed were used to rig the 2020 election against President Donald Trump.

“Mike, can I ask you, who’s got access to the computer algorithms?” a woman wondered. “That’s what’s controlling the election.”

“Well, you asked me who’s done this to our country,” Lindell replied. “It’s the uniparty, Deep State Globalists, and the CCP. That’s who I believe.”

“There’s so many different accesses because all computers are vulnerable,” he continued. “But when you have a computer, you just change a zero.”

Lindell insisted that larger forces were at play in the election.

“And this is much bigger than all of us, that it’s beyond, you know, she asked who has access,” he said. “We’re in a battle of biblical proportions of evil and good… And when you say who’s behind it all, Satan, there’s one.”

“You know, this is a nation that turned its back on God.”

Trump blames Biden for horrific Colorado attack

President Donald Trump said former President Joe Biden’s “ridiculous Open Border Policy” was to blame after a man accused of attacking a pro-Israeli event in Colorado was discovered to be in the U.S. after overstaying his visa.

In a Monday post to Truth Social, Trump broke his silence about the Sunday attack on demonstrators calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza. Authorities say eight people were hurt.

“Yesterday’s horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America,” Trump wrote. “He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under ‘TRUMP’ Policy.”

“Acts of Terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law,” the president added. “This is yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland. My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, and the Great People of Boulder, Colorado!”

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the alleged attacker, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, entered the country legally before overstaying his visa. He applied for asylum in September 2022, and his visa expired in February 2023.

Kanye West Confesses He ‘Dreams’ Of Apologizing To JAY-Z

Kanye West has admitted that he “dreams” of apologizing to former mentor JAY-Z.

In a recent X post, West appeared remorseful for some of the things he has said about his old collaborator in the recent past.

He wrote: “All my dreams have been about apologizing to Jay Z.”

West does have reason for needing to apologize to the “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” legend.

Earlier this year, West viciously ranted about Jay and Beyoncé‘s children on social media.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he insulted the couple’s 7-year-old twins Rumi and Sir by writing: “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS. THEYRE RETARDED. NO LIKE LITERALLY. AND THIS IS WHY ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS A BLESSING. HAVING RETARDED CHILDREN IS A CHOICE.”

After deleting the post, he said: “I NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I TOOK THE POST ABOUT JAY Z AND BEYONCE’S FAMILY DOWN AND JERRY LORENZO’S FAMILY DOWN BECAUSE THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF MY TWITTER BEING CANCELLED BECAUSE IM A GOOD PERSON. I TOOK IT DOWN LIKE DOWN SYNDROME. GET IT. AM I RIGHT. FUCK THE WORLD. REAL TALK. FUCK EEEEVVEEERREEE BODY.”

West later repeated his disparaging comments and added: “IF TWITTER TAKE MY SHIT DOWN THEM SO BE IT BUT I NEED YALL TO [KNOW] JAY Z OR NOBODY HAVE NO POWER OVER ME.”

He continued attacking the Carters by writing: “AT LEAST JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ GET TO RAISE THEIR RETARDED ASS KIDS.

“AINT NO CELEBRITY EVER SAID NOTHING TO COME TO MY AID WHEN IT CAME TO THESE WHITE WOMEN TAKING MY KIDS. CAUSE THEY WAS MAD I WAS WEARING TRUMP HAT. FUCK JAY Z AND HIS WHOLE FAMILY. ESPECIALLY HIS SHOOTERS.

“AND NOW THAT YOU THINK JAY Z PUSSY ASS MADE ME TAKE IT DOWN I GOT TO DOUBLE DOWN.”

Kanye concluded his rant by saying: “CONCERNING THE JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ TWEET N-GGAS SAID I WOUKD REGRET IT. NOOOO. I REGRET TAKING IT DOWN. MY TWITTER IS A ONE WAY CONVERSION.”

JAY-Z has never publicly addressed the comments his one time friend made about his children.

Pusha T speaks on his relationship with Kanye West

Pusha T’s interview with GQ comes as Clipse prepares to release their first album in 15 years, “Let God Sort Em Out.”

Pusha T spoke about his relationship with Kanye West during a new interview with GQ. revealing exactly why they’re no longer friends. He explained that he doesn’t respect his former collaborator as a “man” and is unable to hide that opinion of him while they’re together. West has lost numerous celebrity friends as a result of his controversial and offensive behavior in recent years.

“We made some great sh*t, bro,” Push began. “We did… He’s a genius. And his intuition is even more genius level, right? But that’s why me and him don’t get along, because he sees through my fakeness with him. He knows I don’t think he’s a man. He knows it.”

He continued: “That’s why me and him don’t click, because he knows what I really, really think of him. He’s showed me the weakest sides of him, and he knows how I think of weak people.”

Earlier in the interview, Pusha T vented about Kanye West’s online antics. “It’s like, bro, you’ve been mentioning me, screaming about me… you got every soul believing that I’ve done such a great injustice to you. And that’s a lie. He goes on his rants. The one thing that I can say about him is that he knows that every issue that he’s having and crying about online right now, I’ve told him distinctly about those things, distinctly. So when he gets up there and with his KKK mask and he’s screaming behind it like a pro wrestler—he got to scream behind a mask. He don’t talk to me like he talks to others,” he said.

The GQ interview comes after Kanye West recently admitted on X (formerly Twitter) that he misses his friendship with Pusha T. “I miss me and Pusha’s friendship,” he wrote after the release of Clipse’s new single, “Ace Trumpets.”

“Ace Trumpets” arrives ahead of Clipse’s highly anticipated reunion album, Let God Sort Em Out. The project marks their first collaborative release in 15 years. The album is due out on July 11.

Diddy’s former assistant claims she had a dream where Diddy saved her from R. Kelly

An anonymous alleged victim referred to as “Mia” faced more questions on the stand from Diddy’s defense team during the mogul’s trial.

The Diddy trial continued on Monday (June 2), entering its 14th day in court with more cross-examination from defense attorney Brian Steel. The witness testimony on the stand was from an anonymous alleged victim referred to as “Mia,” who was Sean Combs’ former assistant.

According to Matthew Russell Lee for the Inner City Press, Steel’s line of questioning touched on various messages Mia sent to the Bad Boy mogul. In one of them, she said she had a dream that R. Kelly was chasing her, and that Combs saved her.

This is notable because of the allegations against both Diddy and R. Kelly, and because Steel questioned the former assistant’s consent. His argument is that there is a disconnect between how Mia characterizes the relationship now and how she engaged with it back then.

For those unaware, the alleged victim claims that the New York executive sexually assaulted her and abused her on multiple occasions, amid other accusations. Also, she detailed his alleged abuse of Cassie Ventura throughout their relationship, which has been a big media focus of the trial.

However, Diddy’s efforts to dismiss trauma bonds proved unsuccessful. Judge Arun Subramanian refused to strike testimony from Dawn Hughes, a psychologist with expertise in trauma bonds. The judge characterized the defense’s argument as this: “Any testimony regarding the common behaviors of sexual abuse victims is pseudoscience.”

“[This is] an indictment on the entire field of psychology that the Court rejects and the defense cites no case for this proposition,” Judge Subramanian ruled. As such, Hughes took the stand.

She spoke on the various reasons why many abuse victims stay in relationships, such as financial dependence and violent threats. Hughes also stated that it’s common for victims to engage in coping mechanisms like substance use and forget details of their abuse.

Amid much discussion about Diddy’s alleged victims, both sides of the court must work hard to stick to the facts. As the case and its elements grow more complex, seemingly innocuous details become larger than life. Furthermore, more cross-examination and witnesses will be crucial to defining the jury’s eventual decision.

Rihanna’s Father, Ronald Fenty, Has Sadly Died After a Brief Illness

Rihanna’s Father, Ronald Fenty, Has Sadly Died After a Brief Illness. He Was Only 70 Years Old
Rihanna and her father Ronald Fenty

Nationwide — Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has died at age 70 after a brief illness, his family confirmed. He passed away early Saturday in Los Angeles, where relatives gathered to remember him. Ronald Fenty’s cause of death has not been officially announced. Photos showed Rihanna’s brother visiting him at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center days before his death, as reported by Page Six. Rihanna has not made a public statement.

His death comes as the singer is expecting her third child with longtime partner A$AP Rocky. She revealed her pregnancy earlier this month at the Met Gala.

Rihanna and her father had a strained relationship over the years. Ronald struggled with addiction and separated from her mother when Rihanna was 14. In a 2011 Vogue interview, she described their bond as “really strange.” The following year, she told Oprah Winfrey that she had forgiven him, saying she had learned to separate who he was as a father from who he was as a husband.

Their relationship hit another rough patch in 2019 when Rihanna sued Ronald for allegedly using her name for business through his company, Fenty Entertainment. She dropped the case in 2021, and they reportedly reconciled again.

In 2020, when Ronald battled the pandemic, Ronald said Rihanna checked on him every day while he isolated in Barbados and she sent him a ventilator. He eventually recovered.

In later years, Ronald also spoke warmly about being a grandfather to Rihanna’s first son, RZA, born in 2022. He praised her as a loving and protective mother.

UKRAINE’S DRONE SWARM HITS RUSSIA FOR $7 BILLION AND 40 PLANES

UKRAINE’S DRONE SWARM HITS RUSSIA FOR $7 BILLION AND 40 PLANES

Ukraine just pulled off an attack straight from a spy novel.

A swarm of quadcopter drones, looking like robot bees, buzzed into Russia and took out over 40 bombers at 4 airfields.

This was not a last-minute idea; Ukraine spent a year and a half planning this operation, called Operation Spider’s Web.

The targets were huge bombers like the Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3, planes Russia cannot replace because they stopped making them years ago.

Ukraine’s drones were smuggled into Russia inside wooden crates that looked like ordinary shipping boxes.

On attack day, the crates were parked near airbases, lids opened remotely, and the drones flew out to do their job.

The 4 airfields hit were Belaya, Ivanovo, Dyagilevo and Olenya.

Videos from Belaya showed thick smoke rising, proving Ukraine’s mission was a success.

Experts estimate Russia’s damage is more than 7 billion dollars, a huge blow to their air power.

This mission is Ukraine’s biggest hit on Russia’s bomber fleet since the war started.

The Non-Governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has firmly rejected the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill No. 7 of 2025, citing deep concerns over both the content and the opaque nature of the reform process.

The Chairperson Beauty Katebe says while they acknowledge certain positive elements within the Bill, such as efforts to curb by-election costs and improve legal clarity, NGOCC has condemned the overall process as lacking the transparency, inclusivity, and consultation it had anticipated.

She says of particular concern is the Bill’s failure to guarantee adequate representation for women, youth, and persons with disabilities groups that remain significantly underrepresented.

NGOCC has since called on the government to halt the current process and re-engage in a genuinely participatory and equitable constitutional reform.

Earlier NGOCC had supported the constitution amendments a position that they have now u-turned.

HARD WORK ALONE DOESN’T GUARANTEE YOU A GOOD LIFE-  Fred M’membe

HARD WORK ALONE DOESN’T GUARANTEE YOU A GOOD LIFE

The other day Mr Hakainde Hichilema was urging Zambians to work hard if they want to live well and be comfortable.

Listening to him I was wondering what my relatives in Eastern Province, who work seven days a week with no rest, would make of his words. The more they work the poorer they become.

They work hard every day growing cotton, tobacco, soybeans, groundnuts and maize, but their lives are not improving. The transnational corporations that deal in cotton and tobacco – and others – are the ones becoming richer and richer from their sweat and hard work.

The lives of these relatives of mine will never improve, no matter how hard they work, unless we deal with the way they are being robbed – and only a socialist revolution can truly end this exploitation.

We have politicians in the ruling party becoming richer and richer without much hard work – all from corruption, crooked fertiliser, oil, and other deals and contracts.

Clearly, when it comes to living a successful life, one of the most common thoughts that most people have is that they need to be extremely hard working. But the truth is that hard work alone is not enough.

There is no point working hard on something that gives you only small rewards. You can spend your entire life working hard on something but have nothing to show for it at the end of the day.

Now, the reason I’m writing this is NOT to tell you not to work hard, but rather, to share with you why hard work alone is insufficient if you want to be successful.

And more importantly, if you are working hard right now but not seeing much by way of results, and have been doing this for some time, you should perhaps spend some time thinking about your work.

Is the effort you have poured into it giving you the best results?

WHEN GREAT EFFORTS COMBINE WITH THE WRONG STRATEGY

While I’m not denying that hard work is important, it is only important when you are working hard at the right thing.

For instance, if you have been jogging and running for years, does that mean you are a good marathon runner and are able to compete at an Olympic level? No. But why is that?

You can work hard and run a marathon three times a week for the next ten years, but that does not make you an Olympian. Why?

The reason is that hard work alone is not enough. You need to follow a blueprint or the right strategy to get you where you want to go. If you keep running to the west, there is no way you can catch up with the sunrise, no matter how fast or how hard you run.

We were conditioned to work hard at whatever job we get and to believe that things will work out. This is false. Working hard at the wrong thing will not produce much for you.

In fact, working hard itself alone will exhaust you and shorten your life. Ronald Reagan has a famous quote: “It’s true hard work never killed anybody, but, I figure, why take the chance?”

If you want to earn a million dollars a year, merely working and earning $5,000 a month will not make you reach your target. You need to do something else. You need something extra.

By saying that you need to do something extra, I’m not referring to working harder or spending more time doing it. Even if you are hard working and you work an additional five hours a day, and your boss doubles your salary to $10,000 a month, there is still no way you can reach the million-dollar mark.

Unless you leverage a system, you can never hit that goal, no matter how hard you work. This is why you need to learn how to leverage other financial vehicles, such as real estate, compound interest, business, and so on.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE HARD WORK?

The problem with working hard is that most people define “hard work” in the wrong way. They think that working long hours equals hard work which, I believe, is only partially true.

If you are working hard in the construction industry under the hot sun, then yes, you are working hard. However, if your work is all about sitting in a comfortable chair and typing and reading website after website, that is not really hard work in the same way, right?

You see, it all depends on how you define it. To me, there are two parts to the definition of hard work.

The first is what most of us already know, which is to work hard on a goal, diligently. But the second part is one that most people miss out on. It involves improving your strategy to make sure you are getting the right results.

In “hard work”, the first word “hard” is what we commonly know as working longer hours and putting in more effort. The second word, “work”, is all about something that WORKS. Yes, you need to be hard working, and work on something that works.

If you are at work right now, take a few minutes to think about the investment of time and energy you are making. Is your energy and effort well spent? Are you doing something that will pay off handsomely or will all your efforts go down the drain?

Things will become clearer if you think about working in a fixed-salary job. You will never see much economic benefit from pouring your energy into that job. Yes, you can be promoted and receive a pay raise, but you are sacrificing your life (time) with money.

Your boss may be grateful for all the hard work you have poured in, but it is impossible for him or her to give you a pay raise every month just because you work more.

Zambians, Don’t Be Fooled: The Election Is Near and So Are the Lies- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Zambians, Don’t Be Fooled: The Election Is Near and So Are the Lies

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

As the 2026 elections approach, I issue a firm and urgent warning to every suffering Zambian: do not fall for the UPND government’s last-minute gimmicks and false displays of compassion. For four long years, they have turned a blind eye to your struggles, shattered your hopes, and failed to bring about any meaningful change. Now, in the final hour, they want to pose as your saviors. Do not be misled.

In the coming months, prepare for choreographed price reductions on essential commodities such as fuel, mealie meal, and electricity. These will not be acts of genuine leadership or compassion. They are carefully timed political tricks meant to create an illusion of care. Expect minor drops in fuel prices, just enough to capture headlines, while the real burden remains. Expect temporary reductions in mealie meal prices, which will quickly rise again after the elections. Expect fewer hours of load shedding, not because the energy situation has improved, but because they are staging a calm before the storm.

They will likely roll out one-time food relief packages, free health screenings, and other short-term gestures in selected areas. They may organize job fairs or distribute limited contracts to a few young people, hoping to paint a false picture of progress. But none of these efforts address the real, deep-seated issues that continue to haunt this nation. These acts are not development; they are deception.

Where was this so-called caring government when the cost of living soared beyond control? When citizens endured long hours and even days without electricity? When hospitals lacked essential medicines? When thousands of young people faced joblessness with no end in sight? We have lived under the burden of their failed leadership since President Hakainde Hichilema took office, and nothing has improved.

This sudden generosity is not sincere. It is a desperate attempt to cling to power.

If the UPND genuinely cared about your well-being, they would not have enforced and expanded the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act. This law has been turned into a tool for silencing critics, intimidating citizens, and punishing those who dare to speak out against injustice. While they pretend to reduce fuel prices and minimize power cuts, they are simultaneously tightening control over your freedom of expression. Once the elections are over, you will be left with skyrocketing prices, worsening blackouts, and a voice that can no longer be heard.

This is not responsible governance. It is manipulation of the highest order. It is betrayal of the people’s trust.

Zambians, open your eyes and see through the lies. The UPND has failed us for four painful years. One year of pre-election drama cannot erase their legacy of broken promises, hardship, and oppression. We may not yet know who will take their place, but one thing is clear—President Hakainde Hichilema must go.

Under his leadership, we have been crushed. Our wallets are empty. Our homes are cold and dark. Our young people have been stripped of hope. Our voices are threatened. Our dignity is fading.

We cannot and will not endure this any longer. We refuse to be manipulated by short-term theatrics.

The 2026 election is not just another political event. It is a defining moment in our national story. It is our chance to reclaim our rights, our freedom, and our future.

Do not be fooled again. Stand strong. Think wisely. Demand leadership that puts people before politics. Reject the lies. Reject the manipulation. Choose a better future.

FORMER PRESIDENT ECL CELEBRATES WIFE ESTHER’S BIRTHDAY WITH HEARTFELT MESSAGE

FORMER PRESIDENT ECL CELEBRATES WIFE ESTHER’S BIRTHDAY WITH HEARTFELT MESSAGE

Lusaka, Monday June 2, 2025

Former Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu (ECL) today took to social media to celebrate the birthday of his beloved wife, Esther Lungu, in a heartfelt tribute that has since drawn warm reactions from supporters and the general public.

In a moving message President Lungu described Mrs Lungu as his “rock, confidante, greatest blessing and continuous source of all support services.”

“Kindly join me today in celebrating a woman who fills my life with love, strength and purpose,” the former Head of State wrote.

He continued, “May this new chapter bring you endless joy, peace and fulfillment of your dreams and wishes. I am honored and privileged to walk this long journey of life with you. Our children, grandchildren and I, love you more with each passing day.”

President Lungu concluded the touching message with a simple yet profound message: “Happy birthday, babes.”

Madam Esther Lungu, who served as First Lady from 2015 to 2021, is known for her dedication to philanthropic work through the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust, which focuses on improving the welfare of women and vulnerable communities across Zambia.

Zambia Needs More Doctors, Not More Politicians in Parliament

Zambia Needs More Doctors, Not More Politicians in Parliament

The UPND government, under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema and through Health Minister Elijah Muchima, has shamelessly abandoned the very backbone of our health system our doctors

These are not foreign consultants demanding millions in fees. These are our own sons and daughters, trained at great national cost, now left to rot in unemployment while volunteering yes, volunteering just to keep clinics and hospitals from shutting down.

What kind of leadership watches hospitals collapse while trained medical professionals beg to be employed?

While doctors go hungry and patients die from preventable diseases due to staff shortages, this government has the audacity to push for constitutional amendments and the creation of more constituencies moves clearly driven by political greed, not national interest.

Let the UPND explain to the people of Zambia:
Where will the money come from to pay for more MPs, when they can’t even hire doctors?

You cannot call yourself a New Dawn government when your priorities mirror the very decay Zambians voted to end.

Instead of fixing health care, they are fixing political boundaries.

Instead of delivering essential medicines, they are delivering more political seats.

Instead of employing doctors, they are employing deceit.

It is immoral, short-sighted, and downright irresponsible to expand government when basic services are collapsing.

More MPs won’t save a mother dying in childbirth.
More constituencies won’t treat malaria.
Constitutional amendments won’t bring oxygen to an ICU.

Let it be known:

Zambia does not need more politicians it needs more doctors.

Zambia does not need a bloated Parliament it needs leadership that puts lives first before politics.

I call on every Zambian to stand with our unemployed doctors. Stand with the patients sent home untreated. Stand with the people being failed daily by this brutal regime under President Hakainde Hichilema a regime that has even failed to manage donated medicines.

If they cannot manage free medicine, what else can they manage?

The maladministration of President Hakainde is no longer a political accusation it is a lived reality.
The suffering is real. The betrayal is visible.

APPROXIMATELY 500-800MW OF SOLAR ELECTRICITY EXPECTED TO BE ADDED TO THE NATIONAL GRID BY DECEMBER

APPROXIMATELY 500-800MW OF SOLAR ELECTRICITY EXPECTED TO BE ADDED TO THE NATIONAL GRID BY DECEMBER

Zambia’s unrelenting efforts to build a climate-resilient energy system are a stone’s throw away from releasing between 500-800 Megawatts (MW) of solar electricity in the national grid by year-end, discloses Eng. Ernest Banda, ZESCO’s Director – Power Generation.

This projection is motivated by a multilayer of government and private sector-driven solar projects being undertaken across the country in response to President Hakainde Hichilema’s led national energy mix diversification agenda.

“Probably by the close of 2025, we are looking at close to 500-800MW in the solar space. This will help us supply you with more hours of electricity than the 7 hours we are currently struggling to give you,” Eng. Banda told journalists on Thursday, 29 May 2025 during the 120MW Ithezi-Tezhi power station tour led by Energy Minister Makozo Chikote.

President Hichilema is in a few weeks expected to officially commission the 100MW Chisamba solar project, marking the first injection of the country’s biggest solar energy into the national grid.

This addition will be the first step towards reaching the projected 1,000MW of solar energy targeted to improve the national electricity supply.

“With an additional 800MW, we will be able to send a strong signal to cure load shedding. So, what we are saying is that there is room this year for improvements as long as we can bring in key projects that will help with the mix that we have,” Eng. Banda added.

13 News Editor Tour of Itezhi-Tezhi Power

To enhance stakeholder engagement and awareness of the national electricity generation situation, particularly in light of the drought-induced hydroelectricity deficit, ZESCO Limited facilitated a tour of the Itezhi-Tezhi hydropower station for 13 news editors.

The tour underscored ZESCO’s commitment to partnering with the media to communicate government efforts to address the electricity gap and promote various electricity solutions.

Meanwhile, the Energy Minister urged the media to use the tour to report correctly and effectively on the state of electricity generation in the aftermath of the rainy season and efforts being taken to address load shedding.

“My interest here is to make sure that we answer the questions about the rains people were seeing. This is the answer that you people [media] have not given to the nation. I am sure you have gotten an explanation from our experts about the impact of the rains we received on electricity generation. The expectation is that starting from tomorrow people should be given the correct picture about the impact of the rains on generation,” Hon. Chikote said.

He added that the ongoing implementation of solar projects will not be realized in the blink of an eye, citing the soon-to-be-commissioned 100MW Chisamba project as an example.

“We are now trying to tap into other alternative sources of energy to make sure that we address the power deficit facing the country. However, you have also been told that it takes time to implement these solar power plants. So, from now to 2025 December, we will be observing how these projects are being implemented. We are not going to be stagnant. We will be responding as we continue commissioning these solar projects to reduce the power deficit that we are facing.”

STATEMENT ON THE STATE OF CONTAMINATION OF THE KANCHIBIYA RIVER AND ITS IMPACT ON LIVELIHOODS AND PUBLIC SERVICES- Hon. Sunday Chanda

STATEMENT ON THE STATE OF CONTAMINATION OF THE KANCHIBIYA RIVER AND ITS IMPACT ON LIVELIHOODS AND PUBLIC SERVICES

Date: 2nd June 2025

I wish to bring to the attention of the nation, relevant authorities, and stakeholders the concerning state of contamination affecting the Kanchibiya River, which has significantly disrupted the lives and livelihoods of residents across the constituency, and particularly those living downstream.

The Kanchibiya River, historically a vital water source for households, livestock, schools, health centres, and smallholder farmers, has in recent weeks experienced severe contamination, the source of which is currently under investigation.

This environmental and public health challenge has had the following adverse effects:

1. Schools and Pupils Affected:

All schools situated downstream, including Kopa Day Secondary School, have been severely affected, with pupils being forced to carry small bottles of water from home just to meet their minimum hydration and sanitation needs while at school. Teaching and learning environments have become increasingly difficult to maintain under such conditions.

2. Health Facilities Disrupted:

Health centres dependent on the Kanchibiya River for daily water use, sanitation, and cleaning have reported operational constraints. This threatens not only hygiene standards but also the ability of these facilities to serve patients effectively.

3. Livestock and Livelihoods in Distress:

Farmers have reported unexplained livestock deaths and illnesses attributed to the contaminated water. This situation is exacerbating food insecurity and eroding household incomes. Communities relying on fishing, small-scale irrigation, and livestock rearing now face serious setbacks.

This is not just an environmental issue; it is a social, economic, and public health crisis.

As Member of Parliament for Kanchibiya, I have escalated this matter to the highest relevant authorities. Tomorrow, 2nd June 2025, I will be meeting with the Hon. Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, along with senior officials at the Ministry, to seek an urgent and permanent solution to this crisis.

Key issues I will be advocating for in this engagement include:

(a) A full environmental investigation to determine the cause of the contamination;

(b) Emergency water interventions for affected schools, health facilities, and communities;

(c) A long-term solution, including possible borehole drilling, water purification systems, and investments in climate-resilient water infrastructure;

(d) Public education and safety advisories to guide affected communities on how to manage the situation in the interim.

I wish to thank the affected communities for their resilience and patience in the face of this hardship. Your concerns have been heard, and I assure you of my unwavering commitment to securing a swift and lasting resolution.

Water is life. And no child should carry a bottle of hope to school while a river of despair flows nearby.

Let us work together to restore Kanchibiya River’s dignity, and in doing so, protect the future of our children, our farmers, and our institutions.

Hon. Sunday Chilufya Chanda, MP
Member of Parliament
Kanchibiya Constituency
