UPND NOT A HIDING PLACE FOR OFFENDERS – MWEETWA

UPND NOT A HIDING PLACE FOR OFFENDERS – MWEETWA

UPND national spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the governing party is not a hiding place for people who have committed offences and are defecting from the opposition to save their faces.

And Mr Mweetwa, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, has advised PF leaders to quit politics for subjecting Zambians to untold economic and governance misery during their tenure of office.

Featuring on Radio Phoenix’s Let the People Talk programme yesterday, Mr Mweetwa said with President Hakainde Hichilema, there is no friendship when it comes to the rule of law.

He said people joining the ruling party should do so based on their conviction that they will work with Mr Hichilema.

Mr Mweetwa said one should not join UPND to seek refuge, stressing that those who commit or committed crimes are on their own.

“You know that Kelvin Sampa, my own friend, joined the UPND. Didn’t he get convicted after joining the UPND? He did. So, with President HH, there is no friendship when it comes to the law,” he said.

“Another example is William Banda, who was known to be a ringleader for violence in MMD. But the moment he joined UPND, today you can actually think that he is a chairman for religious affairs in the UPND.”

Mr Mweetwa said the UPND’s philosophy of political engagement is different from political parties that were previously in government.

GOVT REVEALS SIX ZAMBIANS IN IRAQ AND IRAN

GOVT REVEALS SIX ZAMBIANS IN IRAQ AND IRAN

By Elfi Mwale Shampande

Government says it is managing an urgent matter with consular involving a Zambian family of five residing in Iraq and one Zambian national in Iran, amid escalating security tensions in the Middle East.

Delivering a ministerial statement to Parliament, the  Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, said evacuation arrangements for the family in the Kurdistan region of Iraq have been initiated through Zambia’s Mission in Cairo, with coordinated support from Ankara to secure safe transit subject to security assessments.

He said efforts are also underway to ascertain the whereabouts and status of the Zambian reported to be resident in Iran.

Mr Haimbe said government has activated inter-ministerial coordination mechanisms and directed missions in affected countries to update registers of nationals, maintain constant communication and prepare costed evacuation plans. He added that, so far, no injuries or loss of life involving Zambian nationals have been reported, though some have experienced temporary travel disruptions due to airspace closures.

Government has since issued a travel and security advisory urging Zambians in the region to remain vigilant, avoid high-risk areas and maintain contact with the nearest mission as the situation remains fluid.

IDF Destroys Covert Underground Facility Housing Iranian Nuclear Scientists

IDF Destroys Covert Underground Facility Housing Iranian Nuclear Scientists

In the latest escalation of Operation Roaring Lion—the joint U.S.-Israel campaign to neutralize Iran’s nuclear and missile threats—Israeli forces conducted a precision strike on a hidden underground compound on Tehran’s western outskirts.

The target, identified by the IDF as a covert site where Iranian scientists were advancing nuclear weaponization capabilities, was hit as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate existential dangers to Israel and the region.

Satellite imagery and IDF intelligence confirmed the facility’s role in developing “necessary capabilities” for nuclear weapons, following earlier damage to key sites like Natanz during prior operations.

Iranian state media acknowledged explosions in Tehran but claimed minimal damage, while downplaying the strategic impact.

The strike aligns with President Trump’s stated policy of preemptive action against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, which IAEA reports had flagged as nearing weapons-grade enrichment levels despite diplomatic efforts.

Oil prices surged 15% to $120 per barrel amid fears of wider disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the high stakes in this decisive campaign to dismantle the regime’s most dangerous programs.

Hegseth says Iran war coverage makes “president look bad”

0

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reverted to his past talking points about “fake news” Wednesday while touting the US military’s accomplishments.

Hegseth suggested that the press prominently covers service member casualties to “make the president look bad,” an incendiary claim that injected partisan politics into a wartime Pentagon press conference.

Hegseth said the “the fake news misses” that “we’ve taken control of Iran’s airspace and waterways without boots on the ground.”

In fact, news outlets have meticulously covered the air campaign, but Hegseth has a long history of using the media as a foil, even when he was a member of the media himself, hosting shows on Fox News.

Hegseth then alluded to the Iranian drone strike in Kuwait that killed six service members. “When a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it’s front page news,” he said. “I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad. But try for once to report the reality. The terms of this war will be set by us at every step.”

Hegseth credentialed a right-wing “press corps” last fall after traditional news outlets rejected new press pass rules that media lawyers said criminalized routine reporting.

Most of the questions at Wednesday’s briefing came from right-wing outlets like The Daily Wire and LindellTV that have scarce experience covering the military.-CNN

Frank Mutubila: Neither Broadcaster nor Journalist- Dr. Field Ruwe

Frank Mutubila: Neither Broadcaster nor Journalist
By Dr. Field Ruwe

Presenter, Broadcaster, Journalist Defined

I pen this article in my capacity as a media practitioner. I do so to clarify the misconception regarding Frank Mutubila’s role within the media sector. I have noticed with growing concern followers and those who interview him refer to him as a “veteran broadcaster” or “veteran journalist.” He is neither. Mutubila is a self-made presenter. In this article, I elaborate.

In my Media Studies course at California State University, Fresno, we analyzed the communicative skills of Larry King. The aim of the study was to assess the notable accomplishments in the life and persona of an individual who, despite having only a high school diploma, became one of the most celebrated television hosts of the 20th century.

Lawrence Harvey Zeiger, popularly known as Larry King, was neither a broadcaster nor journalist but rather a presenter(host) of radio and television programs. Born in 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, he lost his father at the age of nine to a heart attack. After completing high school, he took a job as a janitor at WAHR radio station in Miami, Florida, to help support his mother.

In 1957, after the disc jockey at the station resigned, King, who frequently boasted to his supervisor of his potential as an outstanding DJ, was given the opportunity to prove his claim. The experiment marked the beginning of King’s illustrious career as the world’s leading television presenter, a consummate interviewer, second only to the British David Frost.

Whenever Mutubila recounts his life story, he takes a page out of King’s playbook. Much like Larry, he too was ten years old when he endured the bereavement of his father, and initiated his career in broadcasting in 1970, equipped solely with a high school diploma, a common happenstance of the time.

Due to the lack of established local institutions for radio and television training, ZBS offered on-air talent that thrived in the absence of tertiary education. The personnel department sought individuals possessing a natural, versatile voice, a good command of the English language, and the good personality of a showman, with creativity being a fundamental requirement.

It can be stated that in the 1970s, almost all “broadcasters” at ZBS (now ZNBC) were self-made presenters who possessed only a high school diploma. At the time of my joining ZBS in 1975, the General Service (English Channel) was headed by Caleb Banda. Staff comprised Saboi Sishimba, Lewis Muliyunda, Mario Malyo, Charles Mando, Mann Sichalwe, Fred Chunga, Kenneth Maduma, Haggai Chisulo, Harold Besa, Mpazi Sinyangwe, Joseph Kuluneta, and Emelda Yumbe.

The television department headed by Ignatius Chileshe included Frank Mutubila, Timmy Mvula, Leornard Kantumoya, Chris Chinonge, Chewe Chiluba, Doreen Mukanzo, Emmanuel Kunda, and yours truly, who transitioned to the television production department from the radio technical department in 1976. A select few underwent a three-month training at the BBC, London, by courtesy of the British Council and returned home with a certificate of attendance. Among those who gained from the BBC courses was Mutubila.

When I first met Mutubila, he was known to have an elitist superiority complex that fueled his work ethic. He spoke with a distinctive and often phony British nasal accent, characterized by the habitual use of the verbal filler “you know, you know,” which became a hallmark of his persona.

For some of us who were acquainted with him by virtue of work, speculated that he embraced a “white” vocal style to project an air of sophistication. Emulating a British accent was, at that time, a psychological and sociological strategy employed by some to appear more “civilized” and “intelligent,” thereby circumventing the biases linked to vernacular English.

Mutubila honed his communication skills by employing his phony British accent, which ultimately secured him the role of presenter of the nightly “Tonight” program on Television Zambia. Over a span of 53 years, despite his apparent compensatory superiority complex, Mutubila has excelled as a presenter with a faux accent in both radio and television, deserving the title of Veteran Presenter, and not Veteran Broadcaster.

My class assignment on Larry King clarified the fundamental definition of the term “presenter.” King frequently asserted that he was not a broadcaster, but rather a presenter, or as he often referred to himself, an infotainer. Throughout his time at CNN, the approach taken by its gatekeepers was designed to create distinct boundaries within the media environment. This initiative was intended to ensure that staff comprehended the significant professional implications of the terms “presenter,” “broadcaster,” and “journalist.”

While “presenter” and “broadcaster” are frequently utilized synonymously, they each embody distinct interpretations of their roles and priorities. A presenter focuses on the delivery aspect. He serves as the “front person” who hosts, conducts interviews, connects segments, and introduces content, all the while engaging the audience and maintaining an effective on-screen presence.

Presenters may be employees or external facilitators who adjust to social contexts, participate in political discussions, manage moral frameworks, or provide entertainment. In my days they included outsiders like Mateo Phiri, Manasseh Phiri, Stanley Makulu, and Dennis Liwewe. They did not require compulsory academic qualifications.

In contrast, a broadcaster is a versatile professional who possesses both technical knowledge and extensive experience within the broadcasting sector. This individual is involved in research, scriptwriting, directing, and presenting content across various mediums such as radio, television, or digital platforms.

To proficiently conduct research and write scripts, along with having the technical abilities needed to operate broadcasting equipment, it is generally necessary to hold a foundational qualification, typically a bachelor’s degree in communication or broadcasting.

In the realm of “journalism,” the notion is perpetually evolving in accordance with its context. This ongoing transformation frequently results in its misuse in favor of alternative media forms. In its non-traditional dimension, journalism includes all media professionals and gifted free-lancers who participate in the gathering, reporting, and sharing of news. Given that it functions beyond the established norms of traditional media, specific qualifications for journalism are not necessary.

Traditional journalism, however, remains a fundamental pillar of the profession. Within its professional framework, it requires a distinct set of educated skills that markedly differ from those needed in broadcasting. Its role is associated with a long-standing ethical tradition of collecting, verifying, and distributing news via platforms such as newspapers and magazines. In Zambia, to secure a position with a newspaper organization, one must possess either a diploma or a bachelor’s degree.

Larry King preferred to be called a presenter or infotainer because he lacked a formal degree in broadcasting. His high school diploma was insufficient. Following his passing in 2021, journalism professionals recognized him as the quintessential American presenter, celebrated for his suspenders, direct questioning style, and over 50,000 interviews. Unless Frank Mutubila has since obtained a degree in broadcasting, his high school certificate denies him the title of Veteran Broadcaster or Veteran Journalist.

PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA WALLOPS OPPONENTS IN ONLINE OPINION POLL CONDUCTED ON EMMANUEL MWAMBA PAGE

PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA WALLOPS OPPONENTS IN ONLINE OPINION POLL CONDUCTED ON EMMANUEL MWAMBA PAGE

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has come out victorious in an online opinion poll conducted by outspoken government critic Emmanuel Mwamba on his Facebook page

The poll, posted yesterday, asked followers to choose their preferred presidential candidate among President Hichilema, Mporokoso lawmaker and Tonse Alliance faction leader Brian Mundubile, presidential aspiring candidate  Makebi Zulu and Citizens First president Harry Kalaba.

By press time after 24 hours of the polls, President Hichilema led comfortably with over 20,000 votes.

Mundubile followed with slightly over 11,000 votes, Makebi Zulu came third with about 7,200 votes and Kalaba was a distant fourth a with handful of 1,600 votes.

The outcome surprised many Facebook users, given that the poll was conducted on the page of a well-known critic of the President.

Several commenters weighed in, offering their own explanations for the results.

Some users observed that most participants were likely followers of Mwamba and therefore largely PF-leaning, yet Hichilema still won.

“Note that people voting here are just people who follow Emmanuel Mwamba so they are mostly PF inclined, but HH is still winning. Imagine if it was a neutral page,” one user commented.

Others were more direct, saying the results showed that Hichilema remained the top choice for many voters.

One commenter noted that the President was unlikely to lose power in the August 13 elections and suggested that the opposition needed to accept that reality.

“The truth is that HH isn’t going anywhere come August 2026. The earlier the opposition accepts this reality, the better… will come back to this comment after,” another one commented.

However, based on Mwamba’s poll, Hichilema was the clear favourite among those who took part.

Chief Mpezeni Questions Mundubile’s Credentials, Reaffirms Support for President Hichilema

🇿🇲 BRIEFING | Chief Mpezeni Questions Mundubile’s Credentials, Reaffirms Support for President Hichilema

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has questioned the suitability of Tonse Alliance presidential hopeful Brian Mundubile ahead of Zambia’s August 13 general election, saying the opposition faces a difficult task campaigning against a government that he believes has delivered tangible development.

Speaking during a courtesy call at Laweni Palace by Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu and his delegation, the traditional leader said Mr Mundubile was part of the previous Patriotic Front administration whose record, in his view, falls short when compared with the performance of the current government, the Zambia Daily Mail quoted the traditional leader.

“I have nothing to do with the opposition. We are with President Hakainde Hichilema now because he has worked. What new things will Mundubile bring?” Chief Mpezeni said, according to the publication.

The Paramount Chief argued that members of the former PF administration must account for their time in government before presenting themselves as alternatives to the current leadership. He cited education infrastructure challenges during that period, saying that “during their time, children were sitting on the floor in schools.”

The remarks come just days after Chief Mpezeni publicly endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema during the N’cwala traditional ceremony at Emutenguleni last Saturday. Several Members of Parliament from Eastern Province also used the ceremony to express support for the President’s re-election bid.

Political observers note that endorsements from traditional leaders often carry symbolic weight in Zambia’s political landscape, particularly in regions where customary authority remains influential in shaping community sentiment.

As the 2026 election season gathers momentum, statements from influential figures across the country are likely to intensify debate about governance, development and the direction of the opposition.

MAKEBI ZULU DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF FRED M’MEMBE

MAKEBI ZULU DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF FRED M’MEMBE

Patriotic Front Presidential Candidate Makebi Zulu has condemned the arrest of Socialist Party leader Dr. Fred M’membe.

Zulu said the UPND regime should stop weaponising the law to intimidate political opponents.

He stated that freedom of speech must be protected as a vital pillar of democracy.

Zulu argued that the detention of Dr. M’membe is unjust and politically motivated.

He insisted that M’membe must be released without delay to uphold justice and fairness.

Police, Monday, arrested Dr. Fred M’membe following remarks he made on Kwithu FM.

He alleged that President Hakainde Hichilema had “imprisoned the body” of former president Edgar Lungu by preventing his family from burying him nine months after his death.

M’membe has since been charged with Prohibition of Harassment and Humiliation under Section 22(2)(a)(b) of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.

DESPERATE TIMES ARE UPON US – NO SEAT UP FOR ELECTION IS SAFE

DESPERATE TIMES ARE UPON US – NO SEAT UP FOR ELECTION IS SAFE

By Kellys Kaunda

A seasoned politician said to me that election time is a desperate season for politicians seeking re-election or seeking to be elected.

He said they do all kinds of things to increase chances of being elected.

I have heard, and some of you may have heard, too, that some become so desperate they either seek special prayers for victory with their spiritual leaders or seek what the Bible calls unfamiliar spirits to obtain lucky charms.

Desperate people, do desperate things and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Most people will agree. I do. Even MPs that were hardly seen in their constituencies suddenly show up.

Never mind confidence-building statements such as, “there’s no opposition; Hichilema has already gone through”.

Or, the opposition saying, “These are going; HH’s a one-term President”.

No one going into an election will arrogantly do so without weighing the ever-present possibility of a loss or victory.

It’s a time when politicians fake and manufacture humility. You’ve seen them go down on their knees as though humility is physical posture!

This is the time when the citizen is indeed a master. It’s a time when even the President realizes his powerlessness in the face of a kaponya with a voter’s card!

This time, you will see the President,  the Vice President, Cabinet Ministers, MPs and Councilors in all kinds of places.

They will eat what we commoners eat; they will speak our lingua franca; they will sing our songs; and they will dance for us instead of us dancing for them.

When we the commoners dance at their political events, we’re called, “bamushanina bwali (dancers for nshima)”.

Maybe we should also call them, ‘bamushanina ma vote’ (dancers for votes).

So, when you see politicians show up at your school and eat with you, it’s a reminder of the season upon us.

When you hear of endorsements, it’s a reminder of the season upon us.

When you see them hug babies and children, it’s a reminder of the season upon is.

When you hear them in churches and dishing out large donations, it’s a reminder of the season upon us.

It’s a desperate time in their lives. It’s a nail-bitting season when their privileged positions can easily slip through their fingers.

While it’s their desperate season, let them know that it’s your time to shine.

It’s your time to put them in their place – they are your servants and thou art their master.

And how do you do that? Go and vote informed by your personal convictions and not what they want you to believe.

FINAL EMV OPINION POLL ON TODAY,  WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2026

FINAL EMV OPINION POLL ON TODAY,  WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2026

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba Wrote;

The Emmanuel Mwamba Verified (EMV) Podcast has been running a 3-part series Opinion Poll.

The Poll is based on on-line voting and live phone calls sampling methods.

So far the polls have attracted a combined 50,000 online voters, and about 1,500 phone calls.
Further despite the isolated but strong criticism raised regarding  the fairness and independence of the poll, callers, readers and viewers remain unperturbed and were fully engaged.

Seven Opposition presidential candidates out of a crowded field of 27 were picked.

One of the criteria used was their appearance on the EMV Podcast which provided an in depth assessment of how the audience responded to their thoughts on national development, their policy proposals to dramatically change the status quo and the various social-economic issues they raised.

Socialist Party (SP) President, Dr. Fred M’membe, Patriotic Front (PF) Acting President Given Lubinda, Zambia Must Prosper Party (ZMMP) Leader, Kelvin Fube Bwalya, Citizen First (CF) leader, Harry Kalaba, Movement for National Renewal (MNR), John Sangwa SC, Tonse Alliance (break-away) Leader and Mporokoso MP, Brian Mundubile and PF Presidential Aspirant, Makebi Zulu, were picked as part of the top 7 out of 27 presidential candidates.

Those picked constituted our view that a front runner would likely emerge from them to finally challenge the incumbent, President Hakainde Hichilema in the 2026 General Elections in August 2026.

The two polls so far held have seen Citizen First Leader, Harry Kalaba and Patriotic Front Presidential Aspirant, Makebi Zulu, emerge top winners sharing a poll each.

The third and last poll is designed to pick the winner of the two polls from the Opposition to be pitted against the incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema.

To enhance and strengthen the sampling methods, and continue to promote credibility, a third dimension, a social-media poll designed by Facebook was added and the polling is currently on-going.

FINAL POLL TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 4TH MARCH 2026

A final poll will be held on Wednesday 4th March 2026 at 20:00hrs where members of the public will again be given an opportunity to vote live during the program.

We wish to express gratitude to all those that have participated in the poll. We are also excited that the process attracted huge numbers of both voters and listeners, viewers and readers, who took the poll seriously.

We also wish to thank those seeking public office that have honoured the invitation to appear on the EMV Podcast over the last one year and were gracious enough to respect our process and allowed the poll with their names to be subjected to public scrutiny and voting by the members of the public.

LESSONS

The poll has brought valuable lessons for both candidates and the people.

The polls also exposed cracks and fault-lines amongst many candidates’ campaign infrastructure while it also enhanced their visibility and strengths.
The UPND has the strongest and mobilised social-media users, campaigners and warriors.

This is a legacy benefit from the 2021 elections where it set up media centres and cyber warrior groups.

It has since enhanced these features.

Citizen First seemed to have developed a network of radio callers that support their work on community radio stations and social-media programs.

CF leader, Harry Kalaba’s countrywide tours over the years seemed to cultivated loyal followers that kept on calling on the program.

The polls exposed weaknesses and fault-lines of candidates’ teams and the poll results can be used to perfect their campaign infrastructure and response.

“PA GROUND”ARGUMENT

I remember in the run-up 2021 general elections when the PF strategists were challenged that the Party and its presidential candidate had a poor showing on social-media, there answer was always a proud; “Ama Politics nipa Ground”!
But they were proven wrong.
Following the August 2021 general election, which saw a peaceful transfer of power from the incumbent President Edgar Lungu to President Hakainde Hichilema, USA President Joe Biden highlighted Zambia as a global success story for democracy.

He praised the record turnout of young people to vote.

Biden noted that the Zambian youth turned out in record numbers to exercise their right to vote.

He stated that “democracy lives in the young people of Zambia” who harnessed their voting power to “denounce corruption and chart a new path for their country”.

The young people consume and access their news, information and express their opinions largely on social-media.

Further the rise of accessing money through digital financial services, has brought mobile phones to nearly every household across the country.

The phone has become the primary tool for mobile money transfers, which have become essential for paying bills, salaries, and loans.

Statistics show that a total of 16.40 million active cellular connections exist equivalent to 78.7% of the population.

Of this population 6.51 million internet users representing a penetration rate of 31.2%.

To dismiss social-media trends and events can prove fatal for political fortunes.

The phones and internent have also bridged the old gap between the urban and rural areas, the old and the young and the educated and the less literate.

In short you ignore social-media at own peril.

CONCLUSION

The Polls have revealed and seen a very strong showing of approval of UPND President Hakainde Hichilema, Citizen First President,Harry Kalaba, Tonse Alliance Leader Brian Mundubile and Patriotic Front presidential aspirant, Makebi Zulu.
How they use this information in their planning, preparations and strategy is upto them.

For Zambians, be assured that EMV will continue to bring you issues, in-depth analysis and special guests tha discuss matters that affect you and our country.

Join the final broadcast of the Poll on EMV at 20:00hrs

Adama Traoré Banned from Lifting Weights at West Ham

Adama Traore has reportedly been banned from lifting weights at West Ham United’s training ground by manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Nuno has instructed the powerful winger to stay out of the gym, insisting he already “carries enough weight.”

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash against Fulham, Nuno said:“I’ve told him to stay out of the gym. It’s enough weight that he carries… he isn’t a heavyweight boxer.

He’ll do prevention work in the gym, but he’s definitely not in there lifting weights.”

Nuno described Traoré’s physique as “incredible,” attributing it largely to genetics, but warned that further weight training is unnecessary for the 30-year-old winger.

The development comes after reports that Traoré had previously claimed he does not lift weights. However, teammate Crysencio Summerville shared a video on social media showing the Spaniard bench-pressing 145kg at the club’s Rush Green training ground.

Traoré joined West Ham in January from Fulham in a deal worth up to £2 million. Since his move, he has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League and started once in the FA Cup fourth-round victory over Burton Albion.

Nuno, who previously coached Traoré at Wolverhampton Wanderers, praised the winger’s unique qualities:“Traoré’s unique. There are not many players in world football with his ability, pace and skills in one-v-one situations.

He’s a talent that we have to take advantage of, but it will take time.”

Despite limited game time so far, the manager insisted the player’s opportunity will come as the Hammers fight for Premier League survival.

Selena Gomez Faces Backlash After Kissing Benny Blanco’s Foot on Podcast

Selena Gomez Faces Backlash After Kissing Benny Blanco’s Foot on Podcast

Singer and actress Selena Gomez has come under heavy criticism online following an unexpected display of affection toward her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, during an episode of his podcast, Friends Keep Secrets.

Gomez appeared as a guest on the show and surprised listeners with a spontaneous gesture that quickly went viral. Nearly an hour into the episode, while seated on the floor, she leaned forward and kissed Blanco’s toes as his foot rested on a coffee table. The moment amused Blanco, who had previously stirred reactions by showing his unclean feet during the podcast’s debut episode.

Responding to the gesture, Blanco expressed his delight, saying, “I liked it,” Blanco said of his wife’s gesture. “It made me feel better. I love you so much.”

During the discussion, Dave Burd, popularly known as Lil Dicky, along with his wife Kristin Batalucco, remarked that Blanco often struggles to hide his affection for Gomez in public. Blanco admitted, “I try with every bone in my body not to be googly-eyed with her. “I want to kiss her and jump her bones all the time, so to watch her just kiss my toe just really made my day.”

However, the clip did not sit well with many social media users, who criticised the act and questioned Gomez’s behaviour.

Blanco later addressed the controversy during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Defending himself humorously, he said, “Okay, first of all, it’s the facility’s fault, not mine!” He added while showing his foot to the audience, “The floors are… I have great feet.” Encouraging a closer look, he joked, “Someone zoom in on my foot,” before adding, ”’Look at that!” After revealing the sole of his foot, he continued playfully, “Look at that clean foot. Look at that. Are you kidding me?”

Despite his attempt to lighten the mood, online debate persisted. Blanco has previously drawn attention for controversial antics on the podcast, including filming himself passing gas into a microphone during the pilot episode. In the widely circulated clip, he said, “See if you guys can pick this up.” After the act, he commented, “That was just a little one,” while Batalucco added, “It was a little squeak.”

The incident has kept Gomez trending across platforms, with fans divided over whether the affectionate display was harmless fun or inappropriate.

In a separate development previously reported, Gomez revealed that she may be unable to carry a pregnancy due to medical complications. She explained that attempting to do so could endanger both her life and that of a child, noting that she has come to terms with exploring options such as surrogacy or adoption in the future.

“Blaming Migrants Won’t Fix South Africa’s Problems”: Dr Naledi Pandor Warns That Foreign Nationals Are Being Turned Into Easy Scapegoats for Government Failures

“Blaming Migrants Won’t Fix South Africa’s Problems”: Dr Naledi Pandor Warns That Foreign Nationals Are Being Turned Into Easy Scapegoats for Government Failures Instead of Leaders Addressing Unemployment, Poverty, Crime and Poor Service Delivery

Former South African international relations minister Naledi Pandor has raised concerns that migrants and foreign nationals are increasingly being blamed for the country’s deep-rooted social and economic challenges, warning that this narrative risks hiding the real causes of the crisis.

Pandor argued that when governments struggle to deal with issues such as rising unemployment, weak economic growth, poverty, crime and failing service delivery, migrants often become the easiest targets. According to her, blaming people from other countries may temporarily calm public anger, but it does not solve the structural problems facing the nation.

South Africa has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world, with millions of young people unable to find jobs. At the same time, many communities are dealing with electricity shortages, struggling municipalities, and slow economic growth. In such an environment, tensions sometimes rise between citizens and foreign nationals, particularly migrants from other African countries who come to South Africa seeking opportunities.

Pandor stressed that migrants do not create the economic crisis and should not be treated as the source of the country’s challenges. She explained that many foreign nationals contribute to the economy by opening small businesses, providing services in local communities, and creating jobs for others. Some also bring valuable skills that support sectors of the economy that need workers.

Her remarks come at a time when immigration has become a highly sensitive political issue in South Africa. Various groups and political movements have increasingly demanded stricter immigration policies and stronger action against undocumented migrants, arguing that foreigners are putting pressure on jobs, housing and public services.

However, critics say focusing solely on migrants risks distracting the public from deeper governance failures. Analysts point out that problems such as corruption, poor policy decisions, lack of industrial growth and failing local government systems are major contributors to unemployment and economic hardship.

Pandor warned that turning migrants into scapegoats could fuel xenophobia and social division in a country that has historically championed African unity and solidarity. She called for a balanced approach to migration that includes proper border management, fair immigration systems and policies that address the real economic challenges facing South Africans.

Her message was clear: South Africa’s problems cannot be solved by blaming migrants. Real solutions require leadership, accountability and policies that create jobs, grow the economy and improve service delivery for everyone living in the country.

STEALTH STRIKE: B-2 “GHOST” BOMBERS HUNT IRGC IN UNDERGROUND WAR

America’s most secretive warplane is back in action and this time it’s targeting Iran’s hidden military nerve centers.

Two U.S. officials have confirmed that B-2 Spirit bombers are actively striking command-and-control hubs, weapons depots, and a rocket assembly facility linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The high-stakes operation is unfolding right now, according to CBS News.

Nicknamed the “Spirit,” the B-2 was designed for moments like this. Capable of carrying 40,000 pounds of ordnance, the stealth bomber can slip past even the world’s most advanced air defenses. Its arsenal includes massive bunker-buster bombs built to smash through reinforced concrete and destroy facilities buried deep underground.

For decades, Iran invested heavily in hardened, subterranean complexes convinced they were beyond reach.

But the B-2 was engineered for one purpose: to reach the unreachable and prove that nowhere is truly safe.

DAY TWO IN DETENTION: UNBROKEN, UNSHAKEN AND STRONGER THAN EVER – Fred M’membe

DAY TWO IN DETENTION: UNBROKEN, UNSHAKEN AND STRONGER THAN EVER

My dear comrades and fellow countrymen and women,

Once again, I send you greetings from inside the Chilenje Police Station cells.

As we indicated yesterday, at approximately 17:00 hours, I was formally slapped with another charge under Section 21 of the Cybercrimes Act No. 4 of 2025. Mr Hakainde Hichilema through the the Zambia Police Service allege unlawful disclosure of details relating to a police call-out connected to an investigation. As a result, my detention has been prolonged.

In any civilized society, such barbaric charges would not even merit discussion. Detaining a citizen for publicly acknowledging or commenting on a summons issued to them is a disgraceful and deeply troubling undertaking. It exposes the abuse and the state of our criminal justice system, including the broader state of constitutional governance in our country today.

A society that criminalizes the exercise of basic rights and freedoms cannot claim to uphold justice and fairness. The monotonous and reckless use of state institutions and law enforcement agencies as instruments of repression dents the rule of law, weakens constitutionalism and erodes the foundations of peaceful and progressive democratic engagement.

Like I have said before, it has now been over 30 years since the reintroduction of multiparty democracy in our nation. Throughout this period, we have found ourselves in police and prison cells on numerous occasions because we chose to take principled positions. We chose to stand for justice and speaking the truth to power. We are not strangers to incarceration and at no point in our journey have we feared prison. We have come too far to be intimidated into submission by those who wield power. Our loyalty has always been to this country and its people.

Mr Hichilema’s desire to keep us in police cells will not shake our resolve. Any attempts to silence us for speaking the uncomfortable truths that others may be too afraid to voice will not succeed. Neither Mr Hichilema nor those around him will break our spirit.

We do not fight for positions. We do not fight for privilege. We fight for justice. We fight for a Zambia free from corruption, free from tribalism, and governed with integrity and accountability.

A second day in police cells means nothing to someone prepared to risk personal comfort for the greater good. For us, the Zambian people will always come first.

We are not afraid.

We are not intimidated.

We will not retreat.

To our supporters and citizens across the country, we urge you to remain peaceful, disciplined and united. Our struggle is not one of violence and hatred, but of courage and conviction.

We must continue to organize, speak and demand that dignity, respect and proper closure are afforded to late former president Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his family. We must determinedly defend our democratic space that so many sacrificed to build. Ukuya kwena aleya!

Fred M’membe
Socialist Party President and People’s Pact 2026 Presidential Candidate.

Mpezeni has told  Binwell Mpundu that Brian Mundubile is not the right contender in the August 13 general elections

PARAMOUNT Chief Mpezeni has told Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu that Tonse Alliance presidential hopeful Brian Mundubile, whom he recently endorsed, is not the right contender in the August 13 general elections.

The traditional leader said Mr Mundubile was part of the Patriotic Front administration which failed to deliver to the expectations of Zambians.

He said Mr Mundubile served in the previous administration, whose performance in seven years cannot be compared to what President Hakainde Hichilema’s Government has achieved in a few years.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni was speaking when Mr Mpundu and his delegation paid a courtesy call on him at Laweni Palace.

He said the opposition will have a tough time campaigning against President Hichilema, who has delivered “real” development.

“I have nothing to do with the opposition. We are with President Hichilema now because he has worked. What new things will Mundubile bring?” Mpezeni said.

“He has been in Government before and during their time, children were sitting on the floor in schools.”

The traditional leader said there is nothing new that is being offered by the opposition compared to what President Hichilema has done so far.

Why Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile Cannot Walk the Same Political Path

🇿🇲 EDITORIAL | Why Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile Cannot Walk the Same Political Path

The opposition conversation keeps returning to the same question: why can’t Makebi Zulu and Brian Mundubile work together?

On paper, the answer should be simple. Both men come from the Patriotic Front. Both invoke the legacy of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Both speak about opposition unity. In theory, they should be natural allies.

In practice, they are moving in completely different political directions.

Makebi Zulu’s political language has been clear and consistent. His message is not merely about contesting the 2026 election. His campaign posture is anchored on something symbolic and emotional: restoring the dignity of Edgar Lungu’s legacy. Zulu has repeatedly framed his political engagement as a fight for justice, for the PF’s political survival, and for what he calls the need to give Lungu a dignified burial in the nation’s political memory. In his messaging, the election is part of that mission.

This framing attracts a particular type of support base.

Within PF circles, especially among those who see the legal and political battles around Lungu as unfinished business, Zulu appears as a combatant. A man prepared to confront the system, rebuild the party and contest power aggressively. His rhetoric signals resistance. It signals unfinished political war.

Mundubile operates in a different register.

Mundubile has built his position through the Tonse Alliance, a structure that seeks to gather multiple opposition forces under one umbrella. His political tone has been less confrontational and more strategic. He speaks about alliances, cooperation and coalition arithmetic. While he references Lungu’s name, his political messaging rarely centres on the burial narrative or the emotional symbolism attached to Lungu’s legacy.

For many PF loyalists, that difference is not small. It is fundamental.

Within the opposition ecosystem, the ECL movement, those who still organize politically around Edgar Lungu’s legacy, have largely gravitated toward the Tonse Alliance under Mundubile. This alignment gives Mundubile access to symbolic capital. But critics within PF argue that invoking Lungu’s name is not the same as carrying his political cause.

This is where the tension emerges.

Makebi Zulu presents himself as the defender of the PF house. Mundubile presents himself as the architect of a broader opposition house. One wants people to return to the PF. The other wants them to reorganize beyond it.

That difference explains the “prodigal son” remark.

Zulu’s message is simple: those who left the PF must come back. Unity means returning to the original structure. Mundubile’s approach implies something else: that opposition politics may need new formations and alliances to defeat the ruling UPND.

These two philosophies cannot easily coexist. One is restorative politics. The other is coalition politics.

Timing also matters. With the August 2026 elections approaching, opposition actors are racing against the clock to consolidate influence. Every leader wants to be the centre of gravity. Every alliance discussion carries the silent question of who leads and who follows.

Zulu’s remark captured that tension bluntly:
“You can’t get away, have yourself crowned king and say come and be my deputy.”

This sentence explains the entire conflict.

Leadership in opposition politics is rarely negotiated quietly. It is contested in public language, in symbolic gestures, and in control of political structures. Mundubile’s Tonse platform offers one pathway to power. Zulu’s PF-centred approach offers another.

Both men claim loyalty to Lungu’s legacy.
But they are interpreting that legacy differently.

One sees it as a banner for rebuilding the Patriotic Front and fighting the next election head-on. The other sees it as a rallying symbol around which a broader opposition coalition can organize.

Until those interpretations align, the two men will continue speaking about unity while walking separate roads. The real question is no longer whether Zulu and Mundubile can work together.

The real question is which political path PF supporters believe will actually defeat the ruling party in 2026.

PF COUNCILLORS REAFFIRM LOYALTY TO LUBINDA AMIDST  FORCED PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT

PF COUNCILLORS REAFFIRM LOYALTY TO LUBINDA AMIDST  FORCED PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT

LUSAKA –02.03.2026

Councillors from various parts of the country today paid a courtesy call on Hon. Given Lubinda, to express their gratitude for his “steady and resilient leadership” throughout the politically turbulent period following the 2021 General Elections.

During the meeting, the local government representatives shared their “shocking experience” regarding a recent government-sponsored gathering. According to the councillors, they were invited to attend a meeting addressed by President Hakainde Hichilema, only to witness a “Vote of Thanks” delivered by a UPND councillor.

The vote was reportedly framed to suggest that all councillors present had collectively endorsed Mr. Hichilema as the sole presidential candidate for the upcoming August 13, 2026, General Election. The councillors clarified that their attendance was based on the expectation that the President would address critical grievances, most notably:

Payment of Gratuities: Long-standing concerns over the disbursement of terminal benefits for local representatives.
Conditions of Service: Issues surrounding the monthly allowance, which was recently adjusted but remains a point of contention given the rising cost of living.
Operational Challenges: The lack of adequate resources to effectively monitor community projects.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Lubinda urged the councillors not to fear any political repercussions or “castigation” from the party for attending the government function. He reminded them that the program was funded by taxpayers’ money, not the ruling party’s private coffers.

“There is no harm in you attending government functions or even wearing CDF-branded attire,” Mr. Lubinda stated. “The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is public money meant for the people of Zambia, not a tool for partisan branding.”

The attempt to use a state-funded event as a platform for a political endorsement was described by the councillors as a “desperate maneuver” to project a false image of nationwide popularity. Observers note that with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) having already released the 2026 roadmap—setting the election for August 13—political tension is rising.

The councillors maintained that the President’s failure to address their welfare, choosing instead to focus on a premature endorsement, has “exposed a lack of priority” and resulted in public embarrassment for the Head of State.

“Bury ECL, Free Fred M’membe: Zambia’s Ghost of Democracy”- Amb. Anthony Mukwita

“Bury ECL, Free Fred: Zambia’s Ghost of Democracy”

…President HH, where are you?

Chilenje Police Post, Lusaka.
3 Mar 26
—-

“If President HH had a problem today, I would be the first person to speak on his behalf,”—Dr. Fred M’membe.

The gates groan open, heavy with the weight of history and irony, and I, with my buddy George Chulumanda, a former cabinet minister and lawmaker, stand.

George is a friend of Dr. Fred M’membe, and an unwitting companion on this curious pilgrimage ahead of the polls on 13 August in Zambia

There is no grandeur here, only a somber hush. The air is thick with sorrow, a revolution swirling quietly under the surface, and the fate of a nation’s conscience locked behind steel.

We are here to see Dr. Fred M’membe, a presidential aspirant, journalist, lawyer, and, in this bitter season, a prisoner of conscience.
Fred has been held for two days. His crime, they say, is “humiliating the President” of Zambia, H.E. Hichilema.

The president in question, our own Hakainde Hichilema—beloved by some, feared by others—has, by official fiat, become a man so sacrosanct that dissent itself is outlawed.
And this is the 21st Century.

Fred’s sin? Speaking out against the unburied corpse of the late President Edgar Lungu, the predecessor of Hichilema who, nine months after his passing, lies frozen in a bureaucratic and legal limbo in Pretoria, a political ghost haunting the corridors of power.

This, in a country where voices are hushed by baton and law, where Amnesty International, the UN Rights Commission, and Human Rights Watch have all raised the alarm on shrinking civic space. Zambia, once a beacon, now flickers under a darkening sky.

I find Fred in the bowels of a Chilenje cell, summoned from his cell by a polite, almost apologetic police officer, four of them actually.
There is a quiet dignity in Fred’s bearing, even as he emerges from a dark cell that stinks of neglect and filth, lit only by the dim glow of justice denied.
Smart Eagles

He is denied even the comfort of a mattress—a small cruelty that stings all the more for its pettiness. Fred, ever resilient, has made a habit of buying mattresses for his fellow detainees; here, he has been denied even that small humanity.

“Ambassador, what I did I do not regret,” Fred says, voice steady and strong, high spirit. “I spoke against an injustice done to the family of President Edgar Lungu. It is cruel to freeze a corpse for nine months. It is not just to deny Mrs. Lungu the right to bury her husband because of politics.”

There is a strange poetry in Fred’s defiance, a Shakespearean melancholy, as if the ghost of Macbeth’s Banquo stalks Zambia, demanding closure, or Hamlet’s father pleading for rest.

The non-burial of a leader is not new in Africa—think of Kwame Nkrumah, Alexander the Great, the voodoo of unburied kings. The difference is, here, the entire nation is forced to watch, mouths covered, hearts heavy.

Fred continues: “If it were President Hichilema lying unburied, I would have spoken out all the same. When Hichilema was a prisoner in Mukobeko, I demanded his release. I told my young brother, Dr. George Magwende, to ensure his safety. When Hichilema became President, he made Dr. George Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health. Justice yesterday for Hichilema, justice today for Lungu. This is not about politics, this is about humanity, about ubuntu, that’s what I stand for.”
Daily Revelation Newspaper

There is a tragic absurdity in the air, a sense that Zambia is acting out its own Macbeth, its own Hamlet, with the body of Edgar Lungu as the unquiet ghost.

Why does President Hichilema, never a friend of Lungu, now insist on keeping his corpse from burial via Mulilo Kabesha? Is it a ritual of power, a voodoo of the state, or merely the tragic farce of a wounded democracy, many ask?

The world watches with scorn—former President of Malawi, Bakili Muluzi, Jacob Zuma of South Africa, SADC, all have failed to convince Attorney General Mulilio Kabesha to let the dead rest.

Zambia, the Christian nation, wears its scar openly, a wound that will not heal.

Outside Chilenje Police, the mood is tense but peaceful. Fred’s supporters, cordoned off by a gentle, almost embarrassed police force, wait in the winter dusk.

The optics are abysmal; this is no Waldorf Astoria, just a cell with a black steel gate and the lingering smell of injustice. Yet the police are professional, even kind. It is as if we are all visitors at an ICU, awaiting the prognosis of Zambia’s soul.

I have known Fred for decades—he was my boss at The Post and older brother the legendary paper where I learned the meaning of free expression.

I have watched as his daughter, Akende, now in her thirties, has waited at detention centers across the country for twenty years, the torch of justice passing from one generation to the next.

Free expression and association are the lifeblood of democracy, and Fred stands at the heart of this beleaguered tradition—a freedom fighter in the truest sense, his voice rising above the silence.

In this crucible of sorrow and satire, as Zambia approaches the August 13 elections, the unburied body of Edgar Lungu has become both specter and symbol.

It will be on the ballot, a macabre reminder of the unfinished business of history. Fred, in closing, looks me in the eye and says, “Please, my plea is bury ECL. This is not about politics. It is about dignity, about letting a family, and a nation, find rest and closure. I regret nothing in what I said, and I will say it again whether it’s on ECL or HH.”

So here we are—As Zambia prepares to vote, the ghost of Edgar Lungu haunts us all, and one wonders: in a land where the dead cannot rest, can the living ever truly be free?

No one knows how long Fred will remain in jail in Chilenje for speaking against the non-burial of Edgar Lungu as many remain silent. Fred M’membe is a brave hombre.

President HH is my personal cousin and I say to him, boss tell Kabesha to drop the Pretoria case, you are a great man let ECL sleep you have the power Boss.

n picture is myself with Freds daughter Akande whom I last met visiting her father at Chimbwkaila prison 20 years ago. Crunch that number.

As the French say, “Il faut enterrer les morts pour que les vivants puissent respirer.” (“The dead must be buried so the living may breathe.”)

Bury ECL.  Free Zambia’s conscience.

STATE HOUSE SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA HAS NO HAND IN EDGAR LUNGU’S BURIAL DELAY

STATE HOUSE SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA HAS NO HAND IN EDGAR LUNGU’S BURIAL DELAY

By Josphat Mbewe

State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has dismissed claims that President Hakainde Hichilema is deliberately delaying the burial of former President Edgar Lungu.

This follows allegations by Socialist Party President Fred M’membe, who has accused President Hichilema of prolonging the burial by taking the matter to court.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Hamasaka has clarified that it is the family of the late former president that has lodged an appeal before a court in South Africa, and that this legal process is the cause of the delay.

He insists that President Hichilema has no involvement in postponing the burial of the late former head of state, an allegation which has resulted in police formally charging and arresting Dr. M’membe with the offence of harassment and humiliation contrary to Section 22(2)(a) and (b) of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.

ATTORNEY GENERAL SAYS ZAMBIA MAY UNDERTAKE COMPLETE CONSTITUTION REPEAL NEXT YEAR

ATTORNEY GENERAL SAYS ZAMBIA MAY UNDERTAKE COMPLETE CONSTITUTION REPEAL NEXT YEAR

By Nelson Zulu

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha has disclosed that Zambia may undertake a complete repeal of the Constitution once the process is fully budgeted for in 2027.

Mr. Kabesha has told Phoenix News that government will prioritize major constitutional reforms after this year’s general elections, explaining that the electoral calendar and associated resource demands will determine the timing of any amendments.

He has identified the Bill of Rights, Part Three of the Constitution, as a key area for substantive reform, noting that such far-reaching changes will require a referendum and a comprehensive legal process.

The Attorney General has expressed confidence that once contentious clauses are agreed upon by the people, the outcome will be a comprehensive constitutional reform, with the 2027 national budget providing the necessary framework.

Mr. Kabesha adds that a total repeal of the Constitution is necessary to close existing legal gaps that continue to hamper national development.

CF WILL NOT DEPART FROM ITS PROMISES  – KALABA

CF WILL NOT DEPART FROM ITS PROMISES  – KALABA

… because it has proven to be a voice of reason for Zambians.

LUSAKA, TUESDAY, MARCH, 03, 2026 [SMART EAGLES]

Citizens First party leader Harry Kalaba says once elected as Republican President in August this year, he will not depart from his promises.

Speaking when he featured on KBN TV’s  ‘HK8 National Conversation’ programme this evening, Mr. Kalaba said Citizens First has been a voice of reason since the time it was formed and will do that which it has promised Zambians.

He said CF believes in empowering Zambians, adding that Citizens are wallowing in poverty because the current government has failed to create wealth for them.

“We will not depart from our words that we continue to tell Zambians because CF is a party that has been a voice of reason. When I was entrusted to serve this country as a Cabinet Minister I didn’t abuse that privilege,” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba adds that despite the country having abundant natural resources, Zambians are not seeing any benefits.

He said CF in Government will create a board to audit what is mined and what is being exported to enhance transparency.

“Citizens are wallowing in poverty because we have failed to create wealth for them. The mining sector is a revenue spinner and can be used to develop this country, but we are not getting alot of revenue from it, it is being lost. CF will close the bleeding happening in the mining sector by creating a board that will look at the minerals being mined and what is being exported to enhance transparency. Minerals are for every Zambian and must help us develop this country, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said it is high time Government started trusting Zambians to undertake major capital projects in the country.

He said the collapse of a bridge on the Chingola – Chililabombwe road signals that it time to move away from the illusion that only outsiders can carry out major projects better.

“Imagine if that bridge which collapsed was done by a Zambian contractor, alot would have been said. We need to start trusting Zambians by giving them major contracts in construction.

For us we are still under the illusion that only outsiders can do it better, we are the only country that want to shy away from empowering our own citizens, that narrative will change when CF forms Government, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

“Today, with great pride, we launched the Brand Zambia Project to clearly define our national identity and shape how we want the world to see us, united, forward-looking and full of potential,” the President said.

He described the initiative as a key strategic tool to attract investment, boost tourism and strengthen national pride by presenting a compelling and coherent image of the country to the international community.

President Hichilema called on citizens to actively promote a positive image of Zambia, noting that national branding plays a crucial role in supporting economic growth.

He urged Zambians to utilise the new national brand to attract investment and foster unity, adding that collaboration across sectors and communities was essential in building an inclusive and strong national identity.

The Head of State said Zambians should take pride in their country, stressing that Zambia is capable of competing among developed and orderly nations.

The President encouraged citizens to safeguard Zambia’s peace and stability and to embrace dialogue whenever differences arise.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to free and fair elections, stating that democracy, peace and stability remain critical attractions for businesses and investors.

“These factors are key in building confidence among investors and partners,” he said.

UCZ Church refused to hold a service for Maposa Nkhuwa despite being a member of the MCF and Boys’ Brigade

Ex-minister fumes at church for denying late son funeral service at UCZ

FORMER Chingola Central Member of Parliament Mathew Nkhuwa has expressed displeasure that the United Church of Zambia did not allow his late son’s funeral to take place in the church.

Nkhuwa complained that the Reverend at the congregation his son belonged to, announced that the service would not take place in the church because the deceased took his own life.

Speaking yesterday during burial, Nkhuwa said that the church judged his son instead of leaving it for God because no one knows exactly what happened on that particular day.

Nkhuwa described the situation as unfortunate and unfair to his family, a family that used their personal resources to build the same churches.

The deceased was a member of the Men’s Christian Fellowship (MCF) and a Boys Brigade Officer in the church.

” I have lost my son, but my church has closed the doors for me. The churches we build with our own money as members.”

” It is immoral to say that my son’s body was not fit to pass through church because he [took his life]. The Reverend does not know what really happened and without asking me he went ahead and made that decision,” he said.

Nkhuwa said times of keeping quiet on such rules and regulations or constitutions of the church should be over because there are many reasons people behave in such a manner.

He said that some may have been going through medical conditions, among other issues, advising people should not be rushing to conclusions.

Nkhuwa, who is also former Minister of Energy has since called on all christians not to remain silent, but speak out on the matter.

“My family is not happy that we have lost a son and we look upto the church to come and console us, but now the church has closed the doors for us. Awe nangu tapasoswa,” he said.

Nkhuwa further challenged the church to to take interest in finding out why people take their own lives and offer help and counseling were possible.

According to the Police, Nkhuwa’s 44 year old son, Maposa Nkhuwa allegedly shoting himself in the head at his residence in Chingola last week.

KITWE COUNCILLOR DENIES REPORTED PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT

KITWE COUNCILLOR DENIES REPORTED PRESIDENTIAL ENDORSEMENT

Kitwe’s Ndeke Ward Councillor Davies Kasengele has distanced himself from the reported endorsement of President Hakainde Hichilema’s candidature for the 2026 General Elections by councillors who meet in Lusaka this week.

Councillor Kasengele said when councillors from all the ten provinces met President Hichilema in Lusaka at no time did councillors collectively discuss or agree to endorse the Head of State.

He said Councillors from all parts of the country met President Hichilema to fulfil their civic responsibilities as elected representatives of the people and not for partisan political activities.

Councillors Kasengele declared that personal opinion should be clearly distinguished from collective positions saying transparency and accuracy in representing Councillors’ views are essential in maintaining integrity and public trust.

“The purported endorsement of His Excellency President should be clearly understood as an individual decision made by a Katete Councillor, who is also a UPND aspiring candidate in one of the constituencies in Katete. It does not, in any way, constitute a collective endorsement by all Councillors who attended the Presidential engagement in Lusaka,” he said.

“At no point before, during, or after the meeting did we convene as a unified body of Councillors to deliberate on or agree to endorse the President. There was no collective resolution, consensus, or formal discussion authorizing such a position – whether at the venue itself or on our Councillors’ Countrywide communication platforms,” Councillor Kasengele said.

He added:”Our presence in Lusaka was not for partisan political activities, but rather to fulfil our civic responsibilities as elected representatives.”

Burkina Faso’s Army Vows to Save Iran – Because 12,000 Troops Will Surely Stop the U.S.

Burkina Faso’s Army Vows to Save Iran – Because 12,000 Troops Will Surely Stop the U.S.

In a move that’s equal parts bold and bewildering, Burkina Faso’s coup-installed leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré has declared his nation “ready to assist militarily” if Iran asks. His reasoning? The era of American “impunity” must end.

Let’s be real: Burkina Faso fields roughly 12,000 soldiers—barely enough to hold off jihadist insurgents ravaging its own territory, let alone project power across continents to defend Tehran. No navy, a tiny air force, and an economy that’s seen better days. This isn’t a serious military commitment; it’s performative geopolitics from a junta desperate to thumb its nose at the West.

Traoré, who seized power in 2022, has spent years cozying up to Russia, China, and now Iran—signing defense pacts, accepting drones, and even flirting with nuclear cooperation while trading gold to evade sanctions. Recent high-level talks in Tehran (February 2026) between defense ministers only deepened the bromance, with Iran eyeing Sahel resources and Burkina Faso craving anti-Western allies.

But offering “help” to Iran amid escalating U.S.-Israel tensions? That’s not strategy—it’s symbolism on steroids. Traoré’s grand gesture costs him nothing in troops (no one expects Burkinabè boots in the Middle East) but buys him street cred in the anti-imperialist club. Meanwhile, the U.S. casually signs $147 million health deals with the same country whose leaders trash-talk it.

The replies on X tell the story: helicopter memes, Chávez comparisons, and outright laughter. Burkina Faso’s “aid” to Iran is about as threatening as a slingshot in a drone war. Cute rhetoric, zero bite.

Iran’s Revolution∆ry Gua₹ds Claim “Complete Control” of Strait of Hormuz, Warn Ships of Missile and Drone Threats

Breaking News : Iran’s Revolution∆ry Gua₹ds Claim “Complete Control” of Strait of Hormuz, Warn Ships of Missile and Drone Threats

Iran’s Isl∆mic Revolution∆ry Gu∆rd Co₹ps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that it has established full control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints for global oil and gas shipments. The statement was delivered by I₹GC Navy official Mohammad Akbarzadeh and published by Iran’s Fars News Agency

According to the I₹GC official, the strategic waterway is currently under the “complete control of the Islamic Republic’s Navy.” He warned that any vessels attempting to pass through the strait face the risk of damage from missiles or stray drones amid the rapidly escalating regional conflict.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, and it carries a significant portion of the world’s seaborne oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Any disruption to shipping through the narrow passage could have major consequences for global energy markets and international trade.

The statement comes as tensions continue to rise in the region. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States Navy is prepared to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz in order to ensure that commercial shipping can continue safely through the crucial route.

Security analysts note that the I₹GC’s declaration reflects Tehran’s attempt to signal its ability to threaten maritime traffic in the Gulf during the ongoing confrontation. However, Western naval forces operating in the region have historically maintained freedom of navigation through the strait.

Iran’s Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani Reportedly Executed by Own Guards Over Suspected Mossad Ties

In a stunning turn amid Iran’s spiraling military collapse, Brigadier General Esmail Qaani—head of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force and successor to the slain Qasem Soleimani—has reportedly been executed by his own Revolutionary Guards.

Social media reports, amplified by viral posts and dramatic images showing Qaani with a noose, claim he was first detained on suspicion of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad. The allegations stem from his repeated “miraculous” survival of U.S.-Israeli strikes—including the recent bombing that killed Supreme Leader Khamenei and numerous top commanders—while others perished.

Having dodged multiple assassination attempts and escaped the fatal March 1 strikes despite being near Khamenei, Qaani’s luck raised red flags in Tehran’s paranoid power circles. Hardliners allegedly viewed his survival as evidence of high-level betrayal, possibly feeding intelligence that enabled precise Israeli and American targeting.

No major Western or Iranian state outlets have confirmed the execution as of March 3, 2026. Quds Force-linked statements continue to appear in his name, and similar rumors (detention, Mossad links, survival quirks) have circulated—and been debunked—since late 2024.

Yet in the chaos of regime infighting and leadership vacuums, the claim fits a pattern: paranoia grips what’s left of Iran’s command structure. If true, it marks a devastating self-inflicted wound for the IRGC at its weakest moment.

Tehran’s house of cards keeps crumbling—one “lucky” general at a time.

Mojtaba Khamenei sought treatment for impotence during multiple visits to private hospitals in the United Kingdom

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran’s Supreme Leader, sought treatment for impotence during multiple visits to private hospitals in the United Kingdom, Daily Mail reported citing a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks.

“It required four visits, including a final stay lasting two months, and he eventually had a son who was named ‘Ali’ after the baby’s grandfather,” read the report.

The 2008 cable said Mojtaba Khamenei married in 2004 and made several extended trips to London for medical treatment, naming the Wellington and Cromwell hospitals.

“Mojtaba was expected by his family to produce children quickly, but needed a fourth visit to the UK for medical treatment,” according to the intelligence document.

The cable also described Mojtaba Khamenei as influential inside the Supreme Leader’s office and closely connected to senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, while saying that he was not expected to achieve the senior clerical rank typically associated with the role.

Iran’s New Supreme Leader: Mojtaba Khamenei Takes the Throne Under IRGC Pressure

Iran’s New Supreme Leader: Mojtaba Khamenei Takes the Throne Under IRGC Pressure

In a move that reeks of dynastic power-grab, Iran’s Assembly of Experts has named **Mojtaba Khamenei**—son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—as the Islamic Republic’s next Supreme Leader.

The decision, rushed amid ongoing war with Israel and the U.S., came heavy pressure from the powerful Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), according to informed sources.

Mojtaba, a mid-ranking cleric long rumored to pull strings from the shadows, now inherits absolute authority over Iran’s theocracy, military, and nuclear ambitions. His ascent marks a sharp departure from the regime’s anti-monarchical founding principles—ironic for a system born from revolution against hereditary rule

While some hardliners celebrate continuity and IRGC dominance, critics inside and outside Iran see nepotism fueling instability.

The late Khamenei reportedly opposed turning leadership into a family business, favoring non-hereditary figures like judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i or Hassan Khomeini (grandson of the revolution’s founder). Yet with key rivals eliminated in recent strikes and the Guards calling the shots, Mojtaba prevailed.

This isn’t stability—it’s a regime doubling down on hardline control at its most vulnerable moment. Expect tighter repression at home and escalated defiance abroad. The mullahs’ grip tightens, but cracks are showing.

Russian Oil Back in Demand as Middle East Burns

Russian Oil Back in Demand as Middle East Burns

As tensions escalate across the Middle East, global oil markets are shifting rapidly.

With supply routes under threat…particularly around the Strait of Hormuz…crude prices have surged above $80 per barrel. The renewed instability is now pushing major buyers to reconsider alternative suppliers.

India, one of the world’s largest oil importers, is reportedly weighing increased purchases of discounted Russian crude as concerns grow over disruptions from Iran and the wider Gulf region.

However, while higher global prices benefit Moscow on paper, Russia’s export infrastructure has faced pressure from drone attacks and harsh winter conditions, limiting how much it can fully capitalize on the rally.

Key Developments:
• Middle East conflict fuels supply fears
• Oil prices spike above $80 per barrel
• India and Asian refiners reassess Russian imports
• Russia still constrained by sanctions and logistical challenges

Global energy markets remain volatile as geopolitical tensions reshape trade flows.

Russia Preparing Massive Army Expansion as Troop Levels in Ukraine Could Surge to 800,000

Breaking News : Russia Preparing Massive Army Expansion as Troop Levels in Ukraine Could Surge to 800,000

Russia is reportedly preparing a major expansion of its military forces involved in the war against Ukraine, with plans that could push the total number of troops deployed in and around Ukraine to nearly 800,000 personnel.

According to Ukraine’s Commander in Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Moscow is planning to recruit 409,000 additional contract soldiers in 2026 as part of an effort to strengthen and sustain its military campaign. If implemented, this recruitment drive would significantly increase the size of Russian forces engaged in the conflict.

Syrskyi stated that Russia already maintains over 700,000 troops in the war against Ukraine. In recent months, the number has remained relatively stable at around 710,000 to 711,000 personnel, indicating that new recruits are largely being used to replace battlefield losses rather than dramatically expanding the force so far.

Ukrainian military estimates suggest that Russia recruited around 406,000 personnel in 2025, but during the same period suffered approximately 419,000 casualties, meaning the influx of new troops mostly compensated for losses sustained on the battlefield.

Despite these heavy losses, Russia continues to conduct offensive operations along several sectors of the frontline. Ukrainian commanders believe the ongoing recruitment campaign demonstrates that the Kremlin is preparing for a long and sustained war, aiming to maintain constant pressure on Ukrainian defenses.

Syrskyi stressed that Ukraine must continue resisting Russian advances and called for additional support from Western partners. He highlighted the urgent need for advanced air defense systems and more missile capabilities, which Kyiv considers critical to counter Russia’s growing military presence.

The planned expansion suggests Moscow intends to maintain or potentially escalate the scale of its operations in Ukraine as the conflict continues.

Iran Warns Europe Joining War With US And Israel Will Be Treated As “Act Of War”

Breaking News : Iran Warns Europe Joining War With US And Israel Will Be Treated As “Act Of War”

Iran has issued a stark warning to European nations, declaring that any military involvement alongside the United States and Israel in the ongoing conflict would be considered a direct act of war against Tehran.

Speaking during a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said that if European countries participate in operations targeting Iran, they will be regarded as accomplices to aggression and treated as active belligerents in the war. He emphasized that such involvement would fundamentally change the nature of the conflict and trigger a direct response from Iran.

“It would be an act of war. Any such act against Iran would be regarded as complicity with the aggressors. It would be regarded as an act of war against Iran,” Baqaei stated while responding to questions about potential European military participation.

The warning comes after Germany, the United Kingdom, and France signaled that they could take defensive measures, including actions aimed at neutralizing Iranian missile-launching capabilities amid the rapidly escalating regional confrontation.

Tehran’s message underscores growing fears that the war could expand beyond the current battlefield if additional Western powers become directly involved. Analysts warn that any European military intervention could transform the conflict into a broader multinational war, significantly increasing the risk of escalation across the Middle East and beyond.

As tensions continue to rise, global leaders are calling for restraint while monitoring the possibility that the crisis could widen into a much larger international confrontation.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE ADDITIONAL CHARGE BROUGHT AGAINST DR. FRED M’MEMBE

OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE ADDITIONAL CHARGE BROUGHT AGAINST DR. FRED M’MEMBE

Issued by Dr. Cosmas Musumali
General Secretary, Socialist Party
Secretary General, People’s Pact Movement

The Socialist Party and the People’s Pact Movement wish to formally address the nation regarding the additional charge brought against our President and Presidential Candidate, Dr. Fred M’membe, while in detention at Chilenje Police Station.

At approximately 17:00 hours today, Dr. M’membe was formally charged under Section 21 of the Cybercrimes Act No. 4 of 2025, for what has been described as the alleged unlawful disclosure of details relating to a police call out connected to an investigation.

We wish to place on record our grave concern regarding this development.

The Cybercrimes Act was enacted to provide a legal framework for addressing cyber-related offences and to regulate the conduct of institutions involved in the handling of electronic data within the context of criminal investigations. It was neither designed nor intended to criminalise a citizen for publicly acknowledging or commenting on a summons issued to him.

The timing and circumstances of this additional charge raise serious questions about the consistent application of the law and the broader state of constitutional governance in our country.

Within a short span of time, Dr. M’membe has faced multiple legal actions. While we respect the role of investigative and prosecutorial authorities, it is imperative that all legal processes be conducted in strict adherence to the Constitution, with due regard for fundamental rights and freedoms, including freedom of expression and protection from arbitrary detention.

As leaders of the Socialist Party and the People’s Pact Movement, we reaffirm our commitment to the rule of law, constitutionalism, and peaceful democratic engagement. We equally urge state institutions to exercise their mandates with impartiality, professionalism, and independence.

We call upon civil society organisations, members of the legal fraternity, the Church, the media, and all stakeholders in Zambia’s democratic process to carefully observe these proceedings and to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

Our position remains clear: legal processes must never be perceived as instruments of political contestation. The integrity of our democratic system depends on public confidence in the neutrality and independence of state institutions.

The Socialist Party and the People’s Pact Movement remain steadfast in their dedication to peaceful political participation and to the advancement of the Zambian people’s democratic aspirations.

We trust that the law will ultimately prevail in a manner that reflects both justice and constitutional propriety.

TRUMP BLASTS UK PM STARMER OVER IRAN WAR REFUSAL — IS THE US-UK “SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP” NOW ON THE BRINK?

TRUMP BLASTS UK PM STARMER OVER IRAN WAR REFUSAL — IS THE US-UK “SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP” NOW ON THE BRINK?

Tensions are rising across the Atlantic after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, publicly criticised British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for refusing to back Washington’s military campaign against Iran.

President Trump reportedly warned that the long-standing US-UK “special relationship” is now under strain after Britain declined to join offensive operations targeting Iran. He is said to be frustrated that London has not given full political and military backing to Washington’s actions.

Starmer, however, has taken a cautious stance. The British Prime Minister has made it clear that the UK will not take part in direct offensive strikes without a clear legal basis and strong parliamentary support — a position shaped heavily by the fallout from the Iraq War two decades ago.

 HOW UK POLITICS IS REACTING

The row has sparked fierce debate inside Britain:

Labour Party (Starmer’s party)
Many Labour MPs are backing Starmer’s decision, arguing that Britain must avoid being “dragged into another Middle East war.” Senior figures say the UK should prioritise diplomacy and de-escalation rather than regime-change operations.

Conservative Party (Opposition)
Some Conservative MPs have criticised Starmer for what they call “weakness” toward Iran and failure to stand firmly with Washington. Others within the party are split — warning against rushing into another conflict without clear objectives.

Liberal Democrats
The Lib Dems have largely supported the government’s cautious approach, calling for urgent diplomatic engagement and warning of regional instability.

Defence and Foreign Policy Experts
Several UK analysts say the dispute highlights a growing difference in strategic thinking between London and Washington. While President Trump appears ready for direct confrontation, Britain is prioritising legal clarity, parliamentary approval, and alliance consensus.

 WHY THIS MATTERS

Iran remains one of the most sensitive geopolitical flashpoints. Any widening war could destabilise the Middle East, impact oil markets, and trigger security threats in Europe.

The UK hosts key US military facilities and has historically been America’s closest military ally. That’s why this disagreement is politically explosive — it raises serious questions about how aligned the two governments really are.

⚠️ IS THE “SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP” AT RISK?

The US-UK alliance has survived major disagreements before — from Suez to Iraq to Brexit. But this clash comes at a time of heightened global tensions.

President Trump’s public frustration signals that Washington expects loyalty.
Starmer’s response signals that London wants independence.

For now, Britain is supporting defensive cooperation but stopping short of joining offensive war operations.

The big question:
Is this just a temporary disagreement — or the start of a deeper shift in Western alliances?

Debate is intensifying in Westminster… and across the world. 
