“My advice is simple avoid cyber bullying at all costs because freedom is not a license for abuse.”

The week began with anticipation that the courts would finally pronounce who truly owns the Patriotic Front, Zambia’s former largest opposition party.

Monday was supposed to be the day of reckoning. It wasn’t.

The silence that followed has left many of us wondering whether there is a hidden political hand deliberately delaying the PF from putting its house in order barely five months before the presidential and general elections.

Without a court decision, maybe today, they cannot hold a convention; their ambitions then fall on quicksand.

In my view, a weak opposition equals a weak democracy. This impasse must come to an end because democracy thrives on competition, not confusion and collusion.

Smart Eagles

On the other hand, I am glad to see Mporokoso legislator Hon. Brian Mundubile blazing and breaking barriers in the opposition arena in the name of democracy.

His Tonse Alliance just received a shot in the arm when Nkana lawmaker Binwell Mpundu joined forces with him. For the first time, we are seeing a semblance of unity and strength.

What makes this significant is that Mpundu heads a youth movement—the Movement for Good Governance (MGG)—with a whopping one million registered voters.

Numbers matter in politics, and these numbers are good for democracy as Zambia heads to the polls on 13 August, with President Hichilema seeking reelection after a tumultuous fiveyear term.

Citizens have not been shy about voicing their complaints during this first term.

Among the most common grievances are:
High cost of living – food, fuel, and electricity prices biting hard.😕

Unemployment – especially among the youth, despite promises of jobs.

Slow delivery of infrastructure projects – roads, hospitals, and schools are overcrowded.

Perceived selective justice – accusations that political opponents face harsher treatment.
Limited freedom of expression – concerns about shrinking space for dissent.

These complaints form the backdrop against which the opposition must organize itself if it hopes to present a credible alternative.

Is POTUS really going to attack Iran?

Beyond Zambia’s borders, I am deeply concerned as an analyst that the United States appears set on a collision course with Iran.

The reasons are familiar: nuclear ambitions, regional influence, and oil politics.

Yet history teaches us that wars of choice often end in disaster. Iraq is a painful reminder—hundreds of thousands died, millions were displaced, and the country remains unstable decades later.

A war with Iran would be catastrophic, destabilizing the Middle East, spiking global oil prices, and dragging innocent civilians into suffering.

My argument against such a war is simple: diplomacy, however frustrating, is always cheaper than bloodshed.

Back home, another matter gnaws at our conscience—the non-burial of Zambia’s sixth President, Edgar Lungu, after almost nine months.

This has become a source of international scorn and fuelled speculation of a “dark side”  whispered in quiet tones and media publications.

It is unworthy of a nation that prides itself on dignity and tradition. Meanwhile, humour has not been absent.

A man who used AI to depict our beloved president in a coffin found himself in police custody, making headlines on the BBC.

Add to that two fellas who wanted to “bewitch” the president, and you have a cocktail of comedy and tragedy.

My advice to Zambians is simple: avoid cyberbullying and insults online. Freedom of speech is not freedom to abuse.

At the same time, politicians must grow thicker skins before we run out of jail space for light offences that could easily be punished with fines.

Let us call for H.E Edgar Lungu—the beloved builder of bridges and roads—to be laid to rest with dignity. And let the government drop this expensive court action in Pretoria. C’est la vie, as the French say—life must go on.
Finally, I cannot ignore the continued war on Gaza by Israel as the world watches Palestinian Arabs die in huge numbers. More than 70,000 dead Palestinians is a tragedy beyond words.

Peace is possible, yet it remains elusive. Apart from Israel and the USA, most Western nations—including France, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, and Norway—have expressed support for an independent Palestine.

The question is: how many more lives must be lost before the world acts decisively?

In conclusion, Zambia’s democracy needs a strong, united opposition, not endless court battles. The world needs diplomacy, not another war in the Middle East.

And our nation needs closure by laying Edgar Lungu to rest. As I often say, democracy is not a spectator sport—it requires participation, tolerance, and courage.

And that’s Mukwita on Point.

SERVE YOUR FOUR-YEAR JAIL TERM, COURT ORDERS LUSAMBO

SERVE YOUR FOUR-YEAR JAIL TERM, COURT ORDERS LUSAMBO

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court of the High Court Division has upheld the sentence imposed by the lower court, which convicted former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo to four years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

In November 2024, the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court convicted him on nine counts of corrupt practices, tax evasion, and possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The incarcerated former Kabushi Member of Parliament appealed his conviction and sentence.

However, a panel of three judges led by Anna Ononuju noted that the lower court had rightfully convicted Mr. Lusambo, as the State proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Saboi Imboela’s NDC to Hire Cyber Experts to Investigate Framing of Secretary Genera

NDC to Hire Cyber Experts to Investigate Framing of Secretary General

26/02/2026

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is considering hiring private cyber experts to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent accusations of cyber crimes against our Secretary General, Mr. Mambwe Zimba.

The party vehemently and without a shadow of doubt expresses confidence in Mr. Zimba’s innocence and condemns the manner in which some papers and people are going out of their way to paint him guilty when infact not. Such writings are tantamount to cyber crimes in themselves.

We strongly believe there has been a mix-up, mistaken identity or deliberate framing of our SG, and we are determined to get to the bottom of this. We are exploring all options, including hiring private investigators and cyber experts, to help us uncover the truth.

The move underscores our party’s commitment to defending our Secretary General and exposing what we see as a deliberate frame-up. We have faith in Mr. Zimba’s integrity, and we will not let anyone tarnish his reputation.

They may have won the battle of getting him arrested on these malicious charges, but we shall win the war when the truth comes out and the public sees why we never doubted his innocence for a second.

We urge the Police to widen their investigation to identify the real perpetrators, because we know that Mr. Mambwe Zimba is not guilty of this accusation.

Our Party President Ms Saboi Imboela is already in talks with cyber experts that can potentially help us understand the people behind this frame- up and why they did it in the first place. We, therefore, urge our party members and the general public to stay calm as we seek to ensure that the truth comes out as soon as possible.

Depicting a sitting Head of State in a coffin goes beyond political criticism

Depicting a sitting Head of State in a coffin goes beyond political criticism as it crosses into dangerous and disrespectful territory.

Whether one supports or opposes President Hakainde Hichilema, our politics should never normalize images that symbolize death or harm. Democracy thrives on debate, accountability, and strong disagreement not dehumanization.

We can challenge policies. We can question leadership. But we must reject expressions that promote hostility or undermine the dignity of our national values.

Zambia deserves better. Firm debate, yes, but rooted in respect and responsibility.

We all must condemn this act at all costs.

UPND SAYS ACC’S INDEPENDENCE NOT COMPROMISED BY DIRECTOR GENERAL’S PARTY AFFILIATION

UPND SAYS ACC’S INDEPENDENCE NOT COMPROMISED BY DIRECTOR GENERAL’S PARTY AFFILIATION

By Chamuka Shalubala

UPND Deputy Spokesperson Elvis Nkandu says the fact that Anti-Corruption Commission –ACC- Director General Dalphne Chabu is a UPND member does not compromise the fight against corruption.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Nkandu says what matters is Ms. Chabu’s Zambian citizenship, qualifications, and ability to execute her duties diligently and professionally.

Addressing concerns by various stakeholders over the closure of corruption cases involving government officials, including Solicitor General Marshal Muchenje and Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo as recently announced by the ACC, Mr. Nkandu said this does not imply that the commission has been compromised.

He has stressed that the ACC operates independently within the law, making decisions based on evidence and not political affiliation.

Mr. Nkandu is of the view that sinister suggestions of political interference only serve to undermine public confidence in institutions mandated to uphold integrity and accountability.

He has since advised the opposition against trivializing the fight against corruption, saying government remains committed to combating corruption and ensuring those found guilty face the law, regardless of their political standing.

Prophet Bushiri Exposes South Africa Corrupt System! How They k!lled His Church Member

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has indeed fired back strongly at South Africa’s Special Investigating Unit (SIU) following their recent explosive findings on corruption in the Department of Home Affairs.

The SIU released details from their probe (under Proclamation 154 of 2024) in a press conference around February 23-24, 2026. They accused Bushiri of exploiting systemic weaknesses: leveraging his influence, church networks (from his Enlightened Christian Gathering – ECG Ministries), and allegedly fabricated documents to secure a fraudulent permanent residence permit in South Africa. Key points from the SIU included:

His permit was approved by a Home Affairs adjudicator who was a member of his church—a clear conflict of interest.
The application included a fraudulent “financial independence” letter signed by a chartered accountant (who admitted being paid just for the signature).

Claims of wealth tied to a $1.2 million aircraft purchase paid in cash from a non-profit entity, raising money laundering concerns.
This ties into broader revelations of Home Affairs officials allegedly selling visas and permits for bribes (R300 to R5,000 via eWallets or other means) to unqualified applicants, including high-profile figures like Bushiri.

Bushiri responded aggressively in a statement (released around February 24, 2026, and shared widely on social media, including his X account @psbushiri_). He called the SIU “irrational” and dismissed the findings as a witch-hunt full of lies, designed to mislead South Africans. Highlights from his rebuttal:

He insists he never applied for immigration status inside South Africa—he applied legitimately through the South African Embassy in Malawi before relocating permanently.

His status was granted under legal provisions for substantial investors (over R10 million required; he claims to have invested more than R90 million in the country by then).

The process was official: Documents submitted in Malawi, approval notified via the embassy, and permits collected without any “chasing” or favors.

He highlighted the tragic death of an innocent immigration officer (a church member) who was arrested, dismissed, and allegedly mistreated over baseless claims tied to the case. Bushiri accused the SIU of rushing out statements claiming the officer “admitted” wrongdoing after his death, when he could no longer defend himself.

He questioned the timing: Why arrest him years ago (around 2020, related to fraud/forgery/jumping bail charges) if the “new” evidence only surfaced now? He framed it as arrest-first, investigate-later injustice.

PRESIDENT DOUMBOUYA CANCELS 51 MINING PERMITS: “PROCESS HERE OR LEAVE”

PRESIDENT DOUMBOUYA CANCELS 51 MINING PERMITS: “PROCESS HERE OR LEAVE”🇬🇳

President Mamady Doumbouya has canceled 51 mining permits for gold, bauxite, diamonds, graphite, and iron ore—and he’s not playing games.

THE REAL DEAL:

Guinea isn’t kicking out foreign companies. Instead, Doumbouya is demanding they ACTUALLY DEVELOP the resources, not just hold permits and do nothing.

The message is clear: Build refineries HERE. Process minerals HERE. Create jobs HERE. Or lose your license.

Companies now have until MAY to submit proposals for local alumina refineries and processing plants. No more shipping raw materials abroad while Guinea gets crumbs.

THE WAKE-UP CALL:

Most of the 51 canceled permits belonged to dormant projects and “inconsequential players” who were sitting on permits without developing them.

Active companies that comply—like China’s State Power Investment Corp, already building a processing plant—get to stay and work.

THIS IS LEADERSHIP:

Doumbouya isn’t anti-foreign investment. He’s anti-exploitation.

New rules: Start exploration within 6 months or face fines. Begin industrial development within 12 months or lose your license.

Africa has 30% of the world’s mineral reserves but remains poor because we export raw materials and import finished products.

Guinea is saying: NOT ANYMORE.

This is how you protect national resources while still doing business. This is how African leaders SHOULD operate.

Bill Gates has admitted to having affairs with two Russian women

0

While defending that didn’t spend “any time with the victims” of Jeffery Epstein’s sex trafficking, Bill Gates has admitted to having affairs with two Russian women.👀😳

The Microsoft co-founder was at the centre of lurid claims about his private life in emails from Epstein released by the US Department of Justice this month.

Speaking to employees at his institute this week, Gates confirmed that he had affairs with two Russian women while married to ex-wife Melinda French Gates but strongly denied having any knowledge of Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.

The 70-year-old explained he had flings with a Russian bridge player and a nuclear physicist, which were later discovered by Epstein.

The Russian bridge player he referred to is believed to be Mila Antonova, who reportedly met Bill Gates around 2010 and attended a coding school paid for by Epstein.

It follows earlier reports which said convicted sex trafficker Epstein used the information to blackmail Gates, demanding he repay the money he had spent on Antonova’s tuition fees.

But Bill Gates insisted he’d never visited Epstein’s now-infamous island Little St James, where victims of sex trafficking are alleged to have been taken.

He told Gates Foundation employees: “I never went to the island. I never met any women. And so, you know, the more that comes out, the more clear it’ll be that although the time was a mistake, it had nothing to do with that kind of behaviour.”

Among the millions of files released by the US Department of Justice were claims from Jeffrey Epstein, in an unsent email, that Bill Gates asked for antibiotics he could “surreptitiously give” to his then-wife Melinda after catching a sexually transmitted infection from sleeping with “Russian girls”.

In an interview Gates denied the “false” accusations and said: “Apparently, Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent. The email is false.

“I don’t know what his thinking was there. Was he trying to attack me in some way? Every minute I spent with him, I regret, and I apologise that I did that.”

Bill Gates and Melinda Gates finalised their divorce in August 2021 after 27 years of marriage, following reports that the billionaire Microsoft co-founder had an extramarital affair. #NewsForYou

Hungary Sends Soldiers to Energy Facilities Over Fears of Ukrainian Sabotage

Hungary has deployed soldiers to guard critical energy infrastructure after raising concerns about potential sabotage linked to disruptions in Russian oil supplies.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said the move is aimed at protecting national security following interruptions in oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline. Hungarian authorities claim the supply issues may be politically motivated.

Ukraine has denied deliberately targeting Hungary’s energy system, attributing pipeline problems to damage caused by ongoing Russian military activity within its territory.

The situation has further strained relations inside the European Union, where Hungary has taken a critical stance on certain Russia-related policies.

Hungary says the troop deployments are precautionary measures to secure power plants, distribution hubs and other strategic facilities amid rising regional tensions.

Brazilian influencer who married herself has divorced herself after a year

Suellen Carey has announced the end of her one-year self-marriage, saying her sologamy journey became emotionally overwhelming.

The 36-year-old Brazilian-born influencer and model drew international attention last year after staging a widely shared ceremony in London, which she documented for her 400,000 Instagram followers.

Despite her commitment, Carey revealed that she attended ten sessions of couples-style therapy alone in an effort to navigate the challenges of her unconventional union.

She admitted that the constant pressure to be perfect for herself left her mentally and emotionally drained.

“Even in a marriage with ourselves, it’s important to accept our imperfections,” she explained.

Carey described the experience as “enriching” but said it was time to move forward and embrace change.

“Personal growth can lead us in different directions. I’ve decided it’s time to open my heart to new possibilities, including the chance to find a partner,” she added.

Man sh00ts bride on stage during her wedding ceremony then flees venue

The wedding, which was meant to be a joyous occasion, turned into a scene of panic and fear. Guests reportedly screamed and scattered when the gunshot rang out during the garland exchange.

Police have cordoned off the wedding venue as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the shooter to come forward.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, though an ex-boyfriend is suspected.

Medical staff in Varanasi are reportedly monitoring Aarti Kumari’s condition closely due to the severity of the abdominal wound.

The groom, Avinash, is said to be in shock but is cooperating with police inquiries. Local residents expressed outrage over the incident, calling for strict action against the perpetrator.

Prophet Walter Magaya Linked to Drug Scandal After Police Raid at Yadah Hotel

Prophet Walter Magaya Linked to Drug Scandal After Police Raid at Yadah Hotel

The founder of PHD Ministries, Prophet Walter Magaya, has been drawn into a widening drug trafficking scandal following a police raid at his hotel

Police Detectives reportedly uncovered a substantial stash of medicines during a search operation at Yadah Hotel, triggering criminal proceedings against the establishment.

Director Admits to Charges
Appearing before Harare magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, the hotel — represented by director Donald Makuvaza — admitted to charges of possessing unregistered and unapproved complementary medicines. The matter has been postponed to March 10 for plea recording.

Prosecutors allege that the hotel unlawfully kept a wide range of pharmaceutical products without the necessary regulatory clearance.

Tip-Off Leads to CID Raid
According to court papers seen by The Herald, the investigation began on November 15 last year after detectives from CID Headquarters in Harare received information about suspected illegal medicines being stored in one of the hotel rooms.

Officers identified themselves upon arrival and conducted a detailed search of the premises. During the operation, they reportedly found large quantities of various medicines, including antibiotics, antifungal creams, antiviral treatments, injections and other pharmaceutical products.

Among the items recovered were metronidazole, clotrimazole, acyclovir topical cream, fluconazole tablets, cotrimoxazole pills, miconazole nitrate vaginal cream, CO Q10 vascular care supplements, sodium bicarbonate injections, Stillen Aupatillin injections and restorative lip balm.

Prescription Forms Raise Questions
Investigators also seized Compounded Prescription Weekly forms which allegedly indicated that the medicines were meant for an individual identified as Happiness Mavindire.

The State maintains that the hotel had no lawful authority to possess either the unregistered drugs or the complementary medicines found on the premises.

The latest development marks yet another legal challenge for Walter Magaya, whose name has repeatedly surfaced in controversy in the past weeks.

Zimbabwe Explains Why It Rejected US$367M US Health Funding

US$367 Million Rejected: Zimbabwe Government Details Reasons For Turning Away US Health Aid
The Zimbabwean government has finally broken its silence to explain exactly why President Emmerson Mnangagwa rejected a massive US$367 million (approximately R6.8 billion) health funding package from the United States—money that was bankrolling lifesaving HIV, TB, and malaria treatment for millions of vulnerable citizens.

For many Zimbabweans waking up to the news that American-funded health programs are grinding to a halt, the obvious question is: why would any government turn away that kind of cash when hospitals are struggling and patients desperately need medicine?

Government spokesman Nick Mangwana, the Secretary for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, released a detailed statement on February 25, 2026, clarifying that the decision followed a direct presidential directive contained in a leaked internal government communication dated December 23, 2025. The correspondence between the Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Secretary for Health and Child Care, and the Secretary for Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion instructed that negotiations on the proposed health funding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) be immediately terminated.

Mangwana insisted the move was not taken lightly but was necessary to protect Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and long-term health security.

“As the government responsible for the welfare of our citizens and the stewardship of our nation’s future, it is incumbent upon us to provide clarity on the rationale behind this decision—a decision that has been characterised in some quarters as controversial, but which we maintain was necessary, principled, and entirely consistent with our sovereign rights as an independent nation.”

He stressed that Zimbabwe values its longstanding bilateral relationship with the United States and recognises the historical contributions of American health assistance, particularly through PEPFAR and other programmes.

“However, a partnership, by its very definition, must be built on a foundation of mutual respect, transparency, and reciprocal benefit. It was the President’s considered assessment, following rigorous inter-ministerial review, that the draft MoU presented for consideration did not meet these fundamental criteria.”

What Exactly Was In The Fine Print That Made Zimbabwe Reject The Money?
This is the question on everyone’s lips. If the money was for HIV treatment, TB control, and malaria prevention—things Zimbabwe clearly needs—what could possibly be so objectionable?

Mangwana revealed that the proposed agreement came with strings attached that went far beyond simply receiving funds for medicine.

“The proposed agreement offered substantial health funding—reported to be in the region of US$328 million—in exchange for comprehensive access to Zimbabwe’s sensitive health data, including pathogen samples and epidemiological information from our citizens.”

He explained that while the offer of assistance was acknowledged, the structure of the agreement raised profound concerns regarding sovereignty and fairness.

“At its core, the arrangement was asymmetrical. Zimbabwe was being asked to share its biological resources and data over an extended period, with no corresponding guarantee of access to any medical innovations—such as vaccines, diagnostics, or treatments—that might result from that shared data. In essence, our nation would provide the raw materials for scientific discovery without any assurance that the end products would be accessible to our people should a future health crisis emerge.”

Mangwana pointed out that the United States was not offering reciprocal sharing of its own epidemiological data with Zimbabwean health authorities. He framed this as a matter of protecting the long-term health security of Zimbabweans rather than merely accepting short-term assistance.

But Didn’t Other African Countries Sign Similar Deals? Why Is Zimbabwe Different?
This is a fair question. The US Embassy in Zimbabwe confirmed that sixteen African nations have already signed similar health collaboration MOUs under the America First Global Health Strategy, unlocking a staggering US$18.3 billion (approximately R339 trillion) in new health funding—including US$11.2 billion in US assistance alongside US$7.1 billion in co-investment from recipient countries.

So why did Zimbabwe walk away while others lined up to sign?

Mangwana explained that Zimbabwe also objected to entering into a bilateral health agreement that would bypass the multilateral frameworks the country has championed on the African continent. The government spokesman highlighted that the United States’ concurrent withdrawal from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and its pursuit of bilateral health agreements with individual nations represents a departure from the multilateral systems carefully constructed to ensure equitable pandemic preparedness.

“At recent WHO negotiations, Zimbabwe had the honour of speaking on behalf of 50 African member states in insisting that pathogen data with pandemic potential be shared exclusively through the WHO’s multilateral system—specifically the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) framework.”

Mangwana explained that this system is designed to ensure that when a country contributes its data, the benefits—including vaccines and treatments—are shared equitably, not commercialised exclusively by those with the resources to develop them.

“To accept a bilateral arrangement that bypasses this multilateral mechanism would undermine the very solidarity that African nations have been advocating for on the global stage. Our decision, therefore, is consistent with our continental commitment to ensuring that Africa is not merely a source of biological material but an equal beneficiary of global health innovations.”

He also noted that Zimbabwe is not alone in its reservations.

“Several other African nations have expressed reservations about these agreements, and in at least one instance, a country’s judiciary has intervened to halt implementation pending further scrutiny. This growing continental reflection should not be misconstrued as anti-American sentiment. On the contrary, it is a sign of Africa’s maturation as a geopolitical actor, one that seeks partnerships based on equality rather than patronage.”

What Happens Now To The 1.2 Million People On HIV Treatment?
This is the most urgent question for ordinary Zimbabweans. The US Embassy has confirmed it is now winding down health assistance. Ambassador Pamela Tremont stated that the MoU would have provided US$367 million over five years to support Zimbabwe’s priority health programs.

“We will now turn to the difficult and regrettable task of winding down our health assistance in Zimbabwe. This MoU would have provided $367 million over five years to support Zimbabwe’s priority health programs, including HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, tuberculosis, malaria, maternal and child health, and disease outbreak preparedness.”

Tremont revealed the scale of what is at stake.

“The Government of Zimbabwe has assured us it is prepared to sustain the fight against HIV/AIDS, and we wish them well.”

Since 2006, the United States has provided more than US$1.9 billion (approximately R35.2 billion) in health support to Zimbabwe, with American-funded programmes directly credited for helping Zimbabwe achieve the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets—the global benchmark for HIV treatment and suppression.

Does Zimbabwe Have A Plan To Replace This Money?
Health and Child Care Minister Douglas Mombeshora has since announced the government is fast-tracking the National Health Insurance Scheme to safeguard essential health services following the funding cuts. He described the withdrawal as a wake-up call for Zimbabwe to strengthen domestic resource mobilisation.

“Zimbabwe has strengthened predictable domestic resource mobilisation, including through the Aids Levy and earmarked health-related taxes, which provide funding for priority programmes. To enhance financial protection, Zimbabwe is fast-tracking the National Health Insurance Scheme.”

Mombeshora’s statement points to existing funding streams that Zimbabwe already uses. The Aids Levy, for example, is a 3% tax on taxable income for employed persons and a 3% tax on profits for companies, which has been funding HIV and AIDS programmes since 1999.

Tuberculosis remains one of Zimbabwe’s main public health challenges, accounting for over 200 cases per 100,000 people. Malaria outbreaks also continue to threaten vulnerable communities, particularly during the rainy season. The move comes as Zimbabwe faces declining external support following major cuts to United States development assistance, with USAID-funded programmes that supported rural clinics, health worker training, and medical equipment procurement now suspended.

President Mnangagwa himself conducted unannounced visits to major public hospitals in Harare last year, touring Parirenyatwa Hospital and Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he observed infrastructure problems and shortages of essential drugs and equipment.

Was This About Minerals Too? What Else Was In The Agreement?
Government sources indicated that Harare also objected fiercely to provisions linked to access to Zimbabwe’s critical mineral resources—a move advisors feared would give Washington strategic leverage over sectors central to the nation’s future economic independence. While the government statement focused on health data and sovereignty, sources suggest the mineral clauses were a significant red flag for officials who saw them as a backdoor attempt to gain economic control.

Mangwana was emphatic that no foreign assistance, regardless of its monetary value, should compromise the sovereignty and independence of Zimbabwe as a nation. He framed the rejection as a matter of constitutional duty.

“Our constitutional mandate requires us to safeguard our citizens’ data, our biological resources, and our national decision-making autonomy. Development aid should empower nations, not create dependencies or serve as a vehicle for strategic extraction. When financial assistance is contingent upon concessions that touch upon national security, data sovereignty, or access to strategic resources, it fundamentally alters the nature of the relationship from one of partnership to one of unequal exchange. This we cannot accept, and this we believe any self-respecting sovereign nation would also reject.”

Despite the government’s explanations and assurances, questions remain over where replacement funding will be sourced for the 1.2 million HIV patients, thousands of TB sufferers, and communities at risk of malaria who now face an uncertain future as American programmes grind to a halt.

Dakar-Paris: Tensions over 20 Billion CFAF in Unpaid Debt

Dakar is going through a delicate financial period. According to available information, Senegal faces a very heavy repayment schedule starting in March 2026, with 747 billion CFA francs due, including 221 billion for Eurobonds. Any delay could trigger a default and undermine confidence from international rating agencies such as Moody’s or S&P, jeopardizing the country’s access to financial markets.

To manage this pressure, the Senegalese government has decided to prioritize certain payments, particularly those related to Eurobonds, at the expense of bilateral claims. This strategy has sparked diplomatic tensions, notably with France. The French Development Agency (AFD) is demanding 20 billion CFA francs in arrears. In response to this deadlock, the Élysée has sent its Africa advisor, Jeremy Robert, to negotiate with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

While some creditors are calling for debt restructuring through the IMF, Prime Minister Sonko opposes this, citing the need to preserve national sovereignty. The government is relying on the Economic and Social Recovery Program and broader fiscal policies to stabilize public finances.

Breaking News : Zelenskyy Admits Ukraine Cannot Retake All Territory Now, Says Russia Also Cannot Win the War 🇺🇦🇷🇺

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has acknowledged that Ukraine is currently unable to regain all of its occupied territories through military force, while simultaneously asserting that Russia is also incapable of securing a decisive victory. The remarks were reported by Sky News following a recent interview.

In his comments, Zelenskyy stated that attempting to retake all occupied land at this stage would come at an extremely high human cost. He indicated that while Ukraine maintains its long term objective of restoring territorial integrity, the present battlefield realities make a full-scale military reclamation effort highly difficult. At the same time, he emphasized that Russia has also failed to achieve its strategic objectives and cannot claim victory.

Zelenskyy’s assessment reflects the current operational stalemate on multiple fronts. Ukrainian forces continue defensive and limited offensive operations, while Russian forces remain unable to deliver a decisive breakthrough that would collapse Ukraine’s resistance. The statement underscores Kyiv’s position that the conflict remains unresolved militarily and that neither side has achieved its maximal goals.

The remarks are significant as they represent a candid acknowledgment of battlefield limitations while rejecting the narrative of Russian success. Zelenskyy did not frame the situation as defeat, but rather as a prolonged conflict in which outcomes remain uncertain and dependent on sustained resistance and international support.

US SENDS BEST WISHES TO ZIMBABWE AFTER  REFUSING AID ON HEALTH

US SENDS BEST WISHES TO ZIMBABWE AFTER  REFUSING AID ON HEALTH

The Government of Zimbabwe has communicated its decision to withdraw from negotiations on a proposed bilateral health Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States. This MOU would have provided $367 million over five years to support Zimbabwe’s priority health programs, including HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, tuberculosis, malaria, maternal and child health, and disease outbreak preparedness. “We believe this collaboration would have delivered extraordinary benefits for Zimbabwean communities— especially the 1.2 million men, women, and children currently receiving HIV treatment through U.S.-supported programs,” said U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe Pamela Tremont. “We will now turn to the difficult and regrettable task of winding down our health assistance in Zimbabwe.”

The proposed MOU represented the largest potential health investment in Zimbabwe by any international funder and was built on a co-funding model designed to ensure sustainability and a path toward self-reliance. The MOU asked Zimbabwe to gradually increase its own health funding alongside U.S. support, building on more than $1.9 billion in U.S. health support to Zimbabwe since 2006 that is directly responsible for Zimbabwe reaching the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals.

Sixteen African countries have so far signed health collaboration MOUs with the United States, which represents over $18.3 billion in new health funding including more than $11.2 billion in U.S. assistance alongside $7.1 billion in co-investment from recipient countries.

“The United States has a responsibility to American taxpayers to invest their resources where mutual accountability, transparency, and shared commitment are assured,” Ambassador Tremont noted. “These MOUs set a higher standard for bilateral health cooperation—one that prioritizes sustainability, measurable outcomes, and shared ownership of results.

The Government of Zimbabwe has assured us it is prepared to sustain the fight against HIV/AIDS, and we wish them well.”

50 Cent Pulls Back: Deletes Meme Targeting T.I. as Beef Heats Up

The long-running feud between hip-hop heavyweights T.I. and 50 Cent has taken another dramatic turn, with 50 Cent addressing the online drama in a cryptic Instagram post while deleting a meme aimed at T.I.

In a post that quickly went viral, 50 Cent wrote, “To entertain is to provoke emotions… Love me or hate me, it’s cool. Just care enough to feel some kinda way. Tomorrow’s gonna be a slow news day or y’all can just make some shit up I’m busy.” The message comes amid T.I.’s continued drop of diss tracks targeting the G-Unit boss, including a third release that escalates the musical war.

Netizens reacted strongly to 50 Cent’s post, with some accusing him of trying to brush off the controversy, while others argued that T.I. is keeping the feud alive by continuing to provoke 50 Cent. Many fans are calling on both artists to settle the beef on the mic rather than through memes and social media jabs.

Adding fuel to the fire, T.I.’s son, King Harris, recently dropped a diss track targeting 50 Cent, specifically calling out the rapper for dragging His mother Tameka into the ongoing feud. The move has only intensified online chatter, with fans debating who has the upper hand in the battle.

The saga shows no signs of cooling down, with 50 Cent deleting his original meme while still dropping a hint that he’s watching and ready to respond. Fans are now eagerly anticipating what comes next in one of hip-hop’s most publicized feuds of the year.

Pakistan Bombs Key Cities in Afghanistan as “Open War” Declared

Pakistan has declared what it describes as an “open war” with Afghanistan following a sharp escalation in border hostilities.

Strikes have been reported in Kabul and Kandahar after Afghanistan allegedly launched attacks along the border. The confrontation marks one of the most serious flare-ups between Pakistan and Afghanistan in recent years.

Tensions between the two neighbors have long centered around cross-border militancy, disputed security operations, and instability along the frontier.

The latest escalation signals a dangerous turn, with fears growing over broader regional destabilization if hostilities continue.

MISSILE PANIC OR POLITICAL PLAY? TRUMP’S IRAN WARNING CLASHES WITH US INTEL

US President Donald Trump has triggered fresh alarm after claiming Iran could soon possess a missile capable of striking the United States but American intelligence assessments reportedly do not back his assertion.

According to Reuters, current US intelligence findings do not support the suggestion that Tehran is on the verge of deploying such long-range strike capability. The claim comes as Trump has moved significant US military assets into the region, ramping up pressure on Iran to accept a deal that would see it surrender its nuclear enrichment programme.

The dramatic rhetoric and military build-up have reignited memories of past conflicts, with critics drawing uncomfortable parallels to the weapons of mass destruction claims that paved the way for the Iraq War a conflict many Americans opposed.

Supporters insist Trump is taking a tough stance to prevent a nuclear threat. Detractors warn it may be another high-stakes gamble built on disputed intelligence.

China Announces Military Support for Iran Amid U.S-Israel War threats

China has openly declared support for Iran as tensions escalate over fears of a possible U.S. military strike.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing supports Iran in safeguarding its national stability and legitimate rights, while cautioning against the use of force in international relations.

The statement comes amid reports of a significant U.S. military buildup in the Middle East and continued nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Concerns over a potential strike have intensified as diplomatic efforts remain fragile.

China maintains strong economic and strategic ties with Iran, particularly in energy cooperation and long-term infrastructure agreements. Analysts say Beijing’s position could become a decisive factor if the crisis deepens.

The growing alignment between China and Iran is raising fears of a broader geopolitical confrontation that could draw in the United States, further destabilizing the region.

TRUMP BUYS BURKINA FASO WITH $147 MILLION WHILE CAPTAIN IBRAHIM TRAORE PREACHES ANTI-WEST

3

TRUMP BUYS BURKINA FASO WITH $147 MILLION WHILE TRAORE PREACHES ANTI-WEST!

The same America that Captain Ibrahim Traore expelled and insulted is now writing Burkina Faso a $147 million health cheque  and Traore signed it.

Trump didn’t beg. Trump didn’t threaten. Trump simply put money on the table and watched the “anti-West revolutionary” pick it up.

Zimbabwe’s Mnangagwa said NO. Zambia’s Hichilema said NO. But Traore the man who gives the loudest anti-America speeches in Africa said YES.

You cannot burn the American flag in public and cash American cheques in private. That is not sovereignty. That is performance.

If this deal is real, Captain Traore has betrayed every word he ever spoke about African liberation and independence from Western control.

Africa deserves leaders whose actions match their words not revolutionaries who negotiate behind the curtain they set on fire.

The continent is watching, Captain.

You cannot preach Pan-Africanism and pocket Washington’s money at the same time.

Trump wins this round. And Traore’s credibility is the price Burkina Faso paid.

Mundubile, Zulu in Talks on Opposition Unity Ahead of August Polls

Mundubile, Zulu in Talks on Opposition Unity Ahead of August Polls

LUSAKA, 27 February 2026 — Tonse Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has confirmed he is in active discussions with fellow opposition aspirants, including prominent Lusaka lawyer Makebi Zulu, as Zambia heads toward the 13 August general election.

Speaking on Hot FM’s flagship program The Hot Seat, Mundubile said unity among opposition leaders is critical to ending what he described as “widespread poverty, fear, and corruption” under the current government.

“The average Zambian is living in abject poverty, and the anxieties are huge. People are scared to talk because if they complain, they get jailed,” Mundubile told listeners. He stressed that opposition cooperation could be decisive in achieving regime change. “Mr. Makebi Zulu is not just my Mbuya (traditional cousin) and younger brother, he is also my friend and fellow lawyer. We are both friends of the bench and we are in discussions to work together,” he said.

Mundubile revealed that he is also in talks with former Justice Minister Given Lubinda, noting that “the general belief is that working together will make it easier to push for change than a fragmented opposition.”

Still, he insisted that even in a worst-case scenario, he is resolved to contest the presidency on the Tonse Alliance ticket.

“Come 13th August, without fail, I will run and I am confident of winning,” he declared.

The Tonse Alliance has recently gained momentum with the entry of Nkana East MP Binwell Mpundu, who shelved his own presidential ambitions to join Mundubile’s camp with his Movement for Good Governance or ichabaiche.

Mundubile praised Mpundu’s move, saying it brought “one million registered voters” into the alliance. “My younger brother and fellow MP Binwell Mpundu made the decision to join because he is confident that the interests of the youth shall be top priority. In any case, the youth ministry will be at State House — that’s how serious we are about addressing youth unemployment,” Mundubile said.

He accused President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration of failing to deliver on promises to reduce poverty, fuel prices, fertilizer costs, and electricity tariffs.

“Basically, they lied to Zambians. It’s time for them to go,” Mundubile charged. He pointed to prolonged power outages that he said had “shut down companies and rendered Zambians jobless and poverty-ridden.”

On corruption, Mundubile cited Financial Intelligence Centre reports alleging illicit transfers of $13 billion abroad. “It’s sad that we cannot talk or act on $13 billion graft, but we can go and confiscate property worth K24 million from the son of the late president Edgar Lungu, Daliso,” he said.

With 23 organizations already affiliated to the Tonse Alliance, including the FDD under Chifumu Banda, Mundubile believes the coalition is well positioned.

“We are building strength every day,” he said, emphasizing that opposition unity remains the surest path to victory. Analysts, however, caution that a fragmented opposition could still hand President Hichilema a majority, given Zambia’s requirement that a candidate secure 50 percent plus one vote to be declared winner.

As the August polls draw closer, the spotlight will remain on whether Mundubile, Zulu, Lubinda, and other aspirants such as  Fred M’membe, Harry Kalaba and Kapembwa Simbao can forge a united front strong enough to challenge the ruling party.

Mundubile also appealed to the government to stop lying to Zambians that the living standards are improving by using ‘cooked up’ inflation figures that don’t translate to reduced prices of food or fuel.

UPND IS PANICKING… because they have realised that Zambians are frustrated with their policies – KALABA

UPND IS PANICKING – KALABA

… because they have realised that Zambians are frustrated with their policies.

LUSAKA, FEBRUARY, FRIDAY,27, 2026 [SMART EAGLES]

CITIZENS First party President Harry Kalaba says the UPND is panicking as the county draws near to the August 13 general elections because they have realised that Zambians are frustrated with their policies.

Speaking when he featured on One Love Radio in Lusaka this morning, Mr. Kalaba said the UPND came into power with a lot of promises which they have failed to fulfill.

He said this is the reason Zambians are resolved to remove them from power in the August polls.

Mr. Kalaba adds that his party once it forms Government this year, will do that which is right for the people of Zambia.

“The UPND Government is panicking because they have realised that Zambians are frustrated with their policies. They have not been honest with Zambians. They have lied on so many fronts. When CF forms Government in August this year, we will do that which is right for the people of Zambia. Thanks very much to the people of Zambia for the confidence they continue showing in us and we will bring sanity to this country, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said after the August 13 elections, CF will help restore small and medium scale businesses that have been shut down as a result of loadshedding adding his government will prioritize constant supply electricity to Zambians.

” For the last four and half years UPND has subjected Zambians to loadsheding and alot of youths have lost jobs, most barbershops, saloons and welding businesses have closed and when we form government, we will compile a list of these youths and see how we can help to resuscitate their businesses, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said the ongoing delimitation exercise being carried out by the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ will defranchise alot of Zambians who will not know about which constituency to vote from adding that political parties will not also have enough time to sensitize voters.

“ECZ delimitation exercise will make people defranchised. Some people will not know about new constituencies. Our worry as CF is time to go out and tell people about the new constituencies. The UPND has been reckless and insensitive about the problem that our people are going to go through as a result of this exercise,”Mr. Kalaba said.

“We are also going to recall Bill 7 because it was illegally done and it came through the back door and we were manipulated. Anything that does not follow the law should not find itself in our statutes, ” he said.

Kambwili, Convention Drama & the PF’s Defining Test

🇿🇲 BUILD-UP | Kambwili, Convention Drama & the PF’s Defining Test

With barely seven months before Zambia heads to the polls, the Patriotic Front has moved from legal uncertainty to political brinkmanship. The party’s Deputy Secretary General, Celestin Mukandila, has declared that PF will unveil its presidential flag bearer before the end of February “regardless of ongoing court proceedings,” framing the moment as a defence of democracy against alleged procedural delay.

“Democracy cannot be suspended by adjournments,” the statement reads. “We shall honour our word. We shall defend democracy. And we shall move forward, undeterred.”

The language is combative. The timing is strategic. The stakes are existential.

Behind the scenes, sources within PF structures suggest that Dr. Chishimba Kambwili has emerged as a strong contender to scoop the presidency at what many are calling an “odds-defying” convention. His unusual media silence in recent weeks has not gone unnoticed. In PF corridors and Lusaka lodges where provincial delegates are reportedly camped, the refrain is simple: the party needs a fighter.

Kambwili’s political résumé is formidable. A former Cabinet minister, seasoned parliamentarian and one of the most gifted political mobilisers of his generation, he commands loyalty particularly in the Copperbelt and parts of Northern and Muchinga provinces. His rhetorical force, ability to connect with grassroots voters and combative posture against the ruling UPND are seen by supporters as electoral assets.

But the calculus is more complicated.

Kambwili also carries baggage. His past conviction linked to tribal remarks during earlier campaigns remains part of the public record. In a country increasingly sensitive to tribal undertones in politics, that history could be weaponised by opponents. His brand is powerful but polarising. In urban middle-class and diaspora constituencies that value economic stability and institutional reform, perception matters.

Meanwhile, the opposition chessboard is shifting. Brian Mundubile has formally aligned with the Tonse Alliance, effectively deepening factional fractures within PF structures.

Makebi Zulu, once perceived as the standard bearer of the Edgar Lungu sympathy vote, appears to be losing momentum amid reports that efforts are underway to position him as Mundubile’s running mate rather than principal candidate. Given Lubinda remains a central figure but faces the delicate balance of preserving party unity while managing competing ambitions.

Regional dynamics also complicate the picture. Some Eastern Province traditional leaders are reportedly engaged in quiet negotiations aimed at consolidating influence within the opposition bloc. The PF vote base, historically concentrated in Eastern, Northern, Muchinga, Luapula and parts of the Copperbelt, is no longer monolithic.

By-elections since 2021 have shown gradual erosion in once-safe constituencies. The 2021 general election itself, decided by a margin of over one million votes, demonstrated that UPND with its reform message can overpower regional arithmetic.

If Kambwili emerges as PF’s flag bearer, the immediate question will not simply be whether he can consolidate the PF base. It will be whether he can expand beyond it.

President Hakainde Hichilema enters this election cycle with the advantages of incumbency, a stabilising macroeconomic narrative, debt restructuring progress and flagship policies such as free education and expanded CDF allocations. The ruling party’s messaging is anchored in economic recovery and institutional reform.

Any serious challenger must articulate not only critique but a credible alternative governance blueprint.

PF’s internal divisions risk diluting that alternative before it fully crystallises. The insistence on proceeding with a convention despite pending court judgments signals resolve, but it also raises concerns about legitimacy. A candidate chosen through a process later invalidated by the courts would begin the campaign under a legal cloud.

The broader opposition faces a strategic dilemma. Fragmentation benefits the incumbent. Consolidation requires sacrifice of ego and negotiation of hierarchy. As one senior political analyst privately observed, “Opposition politics in Zambia often collapses under the weight of ambition.”

Kambwili’s potential candidacy crystallises that tension. He embodies experience and mobilisation strength, yet he also symbolises the PF era that voters decisively rejected in 2021. Whether he can rebrand as a national unifier rather than a regional enforcer will determine his viability.

The coming days will test not only PF’s organisational capacity but its political maturity. Announcing a flag bearer is one thing. Presenting a candidate who can persuade swing voters, reassure markets, attract youth and withstand scrutiny is another.

Zambia’s 2026 election will not be won solely on nostalgia or rhetoric. It will turn on credibility, economic direction and trust in leadership.

PF stands at a crossroads. Its choice will define not only its future but the shape of Zambia’s political contest in the months ahead.

Do UNTO OTHERS: HICHILEMA, HYPOCRISY AND THE COFFIN IMAGE -Fred M’membe

By Fred M’membe

Do UNTO OTHERS: HICHILEMA, HYPOCRISY AND THE COFFIN IMAGE

Mr Hakainde Hichilema has raised concern over online abuse, in particular, the circulation of an image depicting him in a coffin.

From the onset, it must be stated that such content is distasteful, inappropriate and unacceptable. Regardless of our political differences, we must ensure that public discourse remain grounded in acceptable civility and respect.

That said, Mr Hichilema must be reminded that online abuse, cyber bullying and character assassination are not new in our political environment. For many years, Mr Hichilema’s political opponents and citizens alike have been subjected to cyberbullying, defamation and coordinated harassment by rogue media platforms associated with UPND and State House. Zambian Watchdog and Koswe to be specific, have daily published abusive, defamatory and damaging content without reprimand or accountability. I have been a consistent victim of such abuses.

It is against this background that many citizens question why certain incidents like the President in a coffin, suddenly receive urgent national attention and action while others are ignored. Does cyber crime only become intolerable when it targets Mr Hichilema? What about the many citizens who endure similar abuse and attacks frequently without protection or justice? Such selective efforts to combat cyber abuse undermine the credibility of genuinely fighting online abuse.

Equally concerning is how Mr Hichilema finds the coffin imagine distasteful and offensive, yet he has not publicly expressed same discomfort over the prolonged delay in the burial of his predecessor, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu when the cultural, moral and biblical teachings remind us that “from dust to dust” – emphasizing the importance of honoring the deceased with timely and dignified burial.

As a citizen of Zambia, and as a human being, this issue is deeply troubling. It is extremely difficult to find sleep knowing that former President Lungu remains imprisoned in a fridge nine months after his death. How does Mr Hichilema manage to sleep at night knowing that the person who handed him the Instruments of Power has not yet been laid to rest in dignity and peace? This also raises other uncomfortable questions: if a former President can be treated in such a manner, what assurance exists for the ordinary citizen? What type of human beings or leaders are these?

I refuse to accept that such actions are carried out in my name as a Zambian. If there are people who find it normal, not me. I will continue to speak out, without fear or intimidation, until dignity, respect and appropriate closure is afforded to Mr Lungu and his family.

Ultimately, Mr Hichilema must reflect on why these incidences continue to happen despite the enactment of the draconian Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Act. The challenge goes beyond one offensive image. This clearly demonstrates that even the most stringent laws cannot be respected by citizens if they are applied selectively and with political bias. Takwaba ichalo bateka nakapatulula ka musango uyu.

We can do better.

WE ARE GIVING THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE A FLAG BEARER AS PROMISED- PF

WE ARE GIVING THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE A FLAG BEARER AS PROMISED

AN unequivocal undertaking was made by the President of the Patriotic Front, Hon. Given Lubinda, in his December 2025 end-of-year address that the Party would present to the Zambian people its flag bearer for the August 2026 general elections by the end of February, regardless of ongoing court proceedings.

That commitment stands. It is firm, final, and irreversible.

Democracy cannot be suspended by adjournments, nor can it be undermined by procedural delay. The recent adjournment in the Patriotic Front matter, where judgment had been expected, raises serious concern regarding the conduct of the administration of President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development. This matter was concluded as far back as November last year. Justice delayed is justice denied.

It is increasingly evident that certain forces seek to weaken and destabilize the opposition in an attempt to manipulate the democratic landscape. Let it be known: such efforts will not succeed.

The Patriotic Front will not be derailed, intimidated, or diverted from its constitutional and democratic obligations. We remain resolute, organised, and prepared to present a credible flag bearer to the people of Zambia within the promised timeframe.

We call upon the Zambian people to remain steadfast and vigilant. Democracy belongs to the people, not to those who attempt to frustrate political competition through delay and disruption.

We shall honour our word. We shall defend democracy. And we shall move forward, undeterred.

UPND Dismisses Fake Hichilema Resignation Claim, Reports Matter to Police

🇿🇲 BRIEFING | UPND Dismisses Fake Hichilema Resignation Claim, Reports Matter to Police

A fake press release claiming that President Hakainde Hichilema had resigned began circulating widely on social media on Thursday, triggering confusion before being dismissed as fabricated by the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) on Friday morning.

The document, styled as an official State House statement dated February 27, 2026, alleged that the President had “resigned from the Office of the President of the Republic of Zambia with immediate effect” in accordance with Article 106(5)(a) of the Constitution.

It further claimed that he had conveyed appreciation to the people of Zambia and extended “best wishes for the country’s continued peace, unity, and development.”

In a statement issued Friday, the UPND Media Team described the circulating letter as “fake, malicious and criminal,” stressing that it “did not originate from State House and is a deliberate fabrication intended to mislead the public, cause unnecessary panic, and undermine national stability.”

“President Hakainde Hichilema has not resigned and continues to discharge his constitutional duties as Republican President of the Republic of Zambia,” the party said, adding that the falsification of official communication and misuse of State House insignia constitutes a serious offence under Zambia’s cyber security and cyber crimes laws.

The UPND confirmed that the matter has been formally reported to the Zambia Police Service for investigation and urged citizens to remain calm and verify information through official government channels before sharing unverified content.

OPPOSITION WILL GET ZERO VOTES IN WESTERN PROVINCE -KASABI

26/02/26

OPPOSITION WILL GET ZERO VOTES IN WESTERN PROVINCE —-KASABI
————————————————-
We have noted heightened political activities in Western Province through the visitation of various opposition political players in the past few weeks signifying expanded democratic space in Zambia, though the same opposition political parties say the contrary.

However, we want to place it on record that opposition will get absolutely zero votes in Western Province as President Hakainde Hichilema has delivered unprecedented development in the province in all sectors, health, education, job creation particularly in security wings and social protection to alleviate the hardships that was common place with previous administrations.

There is no sector that has not benefitted from President Hichilema’s people centered leadership that prioritizes the wellbeing of citizens particularly rural areas like Western Province, with the much appreciated free education policy, school Feeding Program, the popular Cash for Work for the youth and expanded Social Cash Transfer for the vulnerable in our communities.

It’s for these reasons we want to place it on record and assure the Republican President that Western Province is indeed Kwenyu and will not experiment with national leadership by going back to previous administrations and political parties that implemented policies of deliberate underdevelopment in the province.

More so, Western Province stands solidly behind the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema which has given our people hope by sharing the national cake equitably to all ten provinces.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri denies fraudulently obtaining residence permit in SA

Shepherd Bushiri denies fraudulently obtaining residence permit in SA

By: ENCA News

A Special Investigating Unit (SIU) report has found that self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri strayed from his Godly ways when he obtained a permanent residence permit in South Africa.

The report says Bushiri obtained the permit fraudulently adding that the official who processed his application is actually a member of his church.

Bushiri denied these findings on social media.

His lawyer, Victor Nkhwashu followed suit, telling eNCA that the residence permit is above board.

“[Bushiri’s] application was done procedurally in the sense that as a visitor in South Africa, he was not allowed to apply for his permit to reside or work in South Africa.

“He could only do that through the South African Embassy in Malawi, which is where he went to go and fill in the forms and pay the necessary fees and make the necessary application,” he said.

He said that process was done through home affairs and the Embassy of South Africa and was called once the permits were ready for him, and his wife, to collect.

Nkhwashu said it would either be the Department of Home Affairs or the Embassy that could reveal who processed the permits and they processed it in the way that they did.

COURT SET TO RULE ON LUSAMBO APPEAL

COURT SET TO RULE ON LUSAMBO APPEAL

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court at the Lusaka High Court is today, February 27, 2026, expected to deliver judgment in the appeal of incarcerated former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, against his four-year prison sentence.

Lusambo was convicted in 2024 by Lusaka Magistrate Faides Hamaundu and sentenced to four years’ imprisonment on corruption-related charges.

He faced 10 counts of corruption, tax evasion and possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

His appeal was heard by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court last year, with judgment reserved. The ruling follows months of complaints by Lusambo regarding delays in the delivery of the decision.

Lusambo was initially jointly charged with his wife, Nancy Manase, who was later acquitted.

Today’s decision will determine whether his conviction and sentence will be upheld or overturned.

LAWYER URGES COURT RULES CHANGE ON WHATSAPP

LAWYER URGES COURT RULES CHANGE ON WHATSAPP

Renowned Lusaka Lawyer Dickson Jere has recommended that the Court Rules be amended to reflect modern electronic communications.

Citing the case of Mvunga v Sampa, Mr Jere explained that the High Court had warned against relying solely on WhatsApp service.

He emphasised that WhatsApp may only be treated as an informal or supplementary means of notifying a Defendant.

Mr Jere observed that the Defendant in the case was elusive and refused to accept physical service of the letter of demand.

He pointed out that the Plaintiff had attempted personal service but was forced to resort to WhatsApp after repeated refusals.

Mr Jere remarked that the affidavit of service filed in Court showed “blue ticks” as proof of receipt.

He underlined that the Court nevertheless cautioned that WhatsApp alone is unsafe if challenged by the Defendant.

Mr Jere explained that the Electronic Communications and Transaction Act of 2021 recognises electronic records but does not override service rules.

He highlighted that postal service remains acceptable, while WhatsApp and text messages are not formally recognised.

Mr Jere stressed that another judge has recently accepted email service, showing inconsistency in judicial practice.

He maintained that lawyers should always attempt physical service and obtain written acknowledgement where possible.

RAMAPHOSA LAUNCHES PROBE INTO NAVAL EXERCISE CONTROVERSY AS ANALYSTS CITE U.S. SCRUTINY AND TRUMP-ERA GEOPOLITICAL PRESSURES OVER IRAN’S PRESENCE

President Cyril Ramaphosa, acting as Commander-in-Chief of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), has instituted an investigative panel to determine why his directive excluding the Iranian navy from last month’s Chinese-led Exercise Will of Peace was not fully observed.

The multinational naval drill, held in South African waters, attracted global attention due to Iran’s reported participation alongside China and other partners. Ramaphosa’s order to prevent Iranian involvement raised questions after concerns emerged regarding implementation within defence structures.

The newly appointed panel is expected to examine:
• Possible breakdowns in communication within SANDF command structures
• Operational planning and execution of the naval exercise
• Diplomatic and legal implications surrounding foreign military participation
• Accountability for any failure to implement presidential instructions

The development has unfolded amid heightened geopolitical sensitivity around South Africa’s defence partnerships. Some analysts suggest that international scrutiny — including concerns from the United States and broader Western security interests shaped during the Trump administration — may have increased diplomatic pressure for clarity and accountability.

Government officials, however, maintain that the investigation is primarily focused on institutional compliance, governance and ensuring that military operations align with South Africa’s foreign policy framework.

Findings from the panel are expected to clarify whether procedural lapses occurred and recommend steps to prevent future inconsistencies in multinational defence engagements.

The wider debate now emerging:
How should South Africa balance strategic partnerships with major global powers while preserving its independent foreign policy and neutrality in a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape?

KENYAN MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY LURING CITIZENS TO FIGHT IN UKRAINE

POLICE in Kenya have arrested a man accused of tricking Kenyans into fighting in Ukraine under the promise of skilled work in Russia. Festus Omwamba was caught in the northern town of Moyale and charged in Nairobi with trafficking 25 Kenyans last year. Authorities say he tried to flee after returning from Russia.

Omwamba was identified by recruits who spoke to The Associated Press, after families began demanding answers about missing relatives sent to the front lines. The Kenyan government says over 1,000 Kenyans were recruited to fight for Russia, at least 89 remain on the battlefield, dozens are hospitalized, 28 are missing, and one has been confirmed dead.

An intelligence report presented to Parliament suggested rogue recruitment agencies colluded with Kenyan and Russian officials to lure recruits. The Russian Embassy denied issuing combat visas, saying foreigners may voluntarily enlist.

For the recruits, the promise of jobs turned into a nightmare. John Kamau, who escaped and sought refuge at Kenya’s embassy in Moscow, says Omwamba ran the visa applications and travel plans.

One recruit explained he was told he’d get a plumbing job, only to have his passport confiscated and be sent to a military camp before hitting the front lines. Omwamba’s arrest marks a major step in Kenya’s effort to stop this dangerous pipeline.

Matthias Musumali—Anomaly or Symptom? When Sexual Objectification of Girl Students is Celebrated!

‎Matthias Musumali—Anomaly or Symptom? When Sexual Objectification of Girl Students is Celebrated!
‎A deep reflection 🪞 by Rev Wa zeelter Mwambazi

‎So, Podcast Yatu featured this gentleman that made some rather shocking statements that have “broken the internet” and generated massive buzz already!

‎My reflection names the heart of the matter: Mathias is not an anomaly — he is a symptom. What he said was crude, demeaning, and predatory, but it is also a mirror held up to a society where this dynamic has been normalized, glamorized, and in some circles even celebrated. The real work is not in reacting to him, but in understanding the ecosystem that produces both the men who prey and the young women who participate.

‎🏝️ The landscape young women are navigating today

‎Many young women entering university are stepping into adulthood in a world shaped by economic pressure, social media distortion, and a collapsing moral framework. Their choices do not emerge from a vacuum. They emerge from a society that has:

‎👉🏾 commodified beauty
‎👉🏾 rewarded sexual availability
‎👉🏾 normalized transactional relationships
‎👉🏾 and failed to provide stable identity anchors

‎This is why the “circus” 🎪 keeps filling up. The clowns 🤡🤡 are not the mystery — the audience is.

‎5️⃣ Five Core Factors Driving this Behavior Among Young Women

‎✍🏾 1. Economic vulnerability and survival pressure

‎For many students, university life is financially brutal. Tuition, accommodation, food, transport, and social expectations create a pressure cooker. Older men with disposable income become shortcuts to survival — or at least to comfort. This is not moral justification; it is socio-economic reality.

‎✍🏾 2. Identity insecurity shaped by social media

‎Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have created a generation that equates worth with desirability. When “being chosen” becomes the currency of value, older men who flatter, fund, and pursue them feel like validation. Predators exploit this insecurity with precision.

‎✍🏾 3. Peer influence and the glamorization of “soft life”

‎There is now a celebrated aesthetic around being sponsored, pampered, and financially maintained by an older man. It is framed as empowerment, but in reality it is dependency dressed in luxury. Young women see peers living this lifestyle and feel pressure to replicate it.

‎✍🏾 4. Broken family structures and lack of affirmation (huge factor) 🥺

‎A significant number of young women grow up without consistent fatherly affirmation. This creates a vulnerability to older men who present themselves as protectors, providers, or mentors aka “sugar daddies”. The emotional gap becomes a doorway for exploitation.

‎✍🏾 5. Moral relativism and the collapse of boundaries

‎We live in a generation where almost nothing is “wrong” anymore — everything is “personal choice.” Without moral anchors, the line between empowerment and exploitation becomes blurred. When society stops naming sin, sin becomes fashionable.

‎📛  Why Society Keeps Producing Men Like Mathias

‎✍🏾 1. Patriarchal entitlement and sexual opportunism (used to even justify polygamy) 🥺

‎Some men genuinely believe young women exist for their pleasure. They see youth as a commodity and themselves as entitled consumers.

‎✍🏾 2. A culture that rewards predatory behavior

‎Men who exploit young women are often celebrated as “ballers,” “big men,” or “successful.” There is no shame — only applause.

‎✍🏾 3. Lack of accountability

‎Very few men face consequences for predatory behavior. Without social, legal, or moral accountability, the behavior thrives.

‎✍🏾 4. Porn culture and the fetishization of youth (huge one) 🥺

‎Pornography has rewired the sexual expectations of an entire generation. It has normalized the idea that younger is “better,” and older women are disposable. The recent spate of “sex videos” by “influencers” hasn’t helped at all.

‎✍🏾 5. Emotional immaturity masked as masculinity (another huge factor) 😠

‎Many men lack the emotional depth to relate to women their age. Young girls are easier to impress, easier to manipulate, and less likely to challenge them. Predators choose convenience over character.

‎⚠️ The Spiritual and Societal Consequences

‎♀️ For young women
‎📌 Loss of self-worth
‎📌 Emotional trauma
‎📌 Difficulty forming healthy relationships
‎📌 Increased vulnerability to exploitation
‎📌 Long-term regret when the illusion of “soft life” collapses

‎♂️ For men
‎📌 Hardened conscience
‎📌 Addiction to novelty and exploitation
‎📌 Inability to form stable marriages
‎📌 Spiritual blindness
‎📌 Eventual public disgrace or private emptiness

‎♂️♀️ For society
‎📌 Erosion of moral standards
‎📌 Breakdown of family structures
‎📌 Normalization of predatory behavior
‎📌 Generational cycles of trauma

‎📃 What Scriptural Has to Say

‎Unfortunately people like Matthias and those who agree with his “philosophy” won’t even care what the Bible has to say, but you never know, so I am placing what the Bible admonishes here.

‎Against exploiting the vulnerable
‎📌 “Woe to those who cause the little ones to stumble.” — Matthew 18:6

‎Against sexual immorality
‎📌 “Flee from sexual immorality… he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” — 1 Corinthians 6:18

‎Against predatory men
‎📌 “Do not lust in your heart after her beauty… for a prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread.” — Proverbs 6:25–26

‎Against transactional relationships

‎📌 “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30

‎On consequences
‎📌 “Be not deceived: God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” — Galatians 6:7

‎Final Reflection 🪞

‎Mathias is not the problem — he is a symptom.

‎The real crisis is the ecosystem that produces both the predator and the willing participant.

‎Until we address the economic, emotional, moral, and cultural forces shaping this dynamic, the circus will remain full.

‎Selah 🔥🔥

PS: He has since issued a comprehensive apology in which he states that he is sorry for his words. I do not know what to say about that but he certainly spoke a truth that is prevalent in our rotten society today.

As Scripture states, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks!”

$147 Million U.S. Health Deal with Burkina Faso: Care or Geopolitics?

 $147 Million U.S. Health Deal with  Burkina Faso: Care or Geopolitics?

The United States has signed a $147 million health agreement with to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and rebuild its influence in the Sahel region of West Africa.
This agreement focuses on:

Improving primary healthcare services

Strengthening disease surveillance systems

Expanding community access to medical care

However, this deal is not just about health. It is also part of Washington’s broader strategy to counter the growing influence of countries like and in the Sahel. ⚖️

Under Burkina Faso’s current military-led government, the partnership is seen as a form of soft-power diplomacy — using healthcare support to build relationships and strategic presence.

At the same time, some African nations, including and , have expressed concerns about U.S. health financing frameworks. They argue that certain conditions attached to foreign aid may affect national sovereignty and have called for revisions. 

This raises important questions about development partnerships and power dynamics in Africa.

Deep Question:
Is foreign health support truly about saving lives — or is it becoming a strategic tool in the global competition for Africa’s future? 樂

PF WINDOW FOR THE AUGUST 13 ELECTIONS NARROWS TIGHT AS RULING MOVES TO END OF MARCH

PF WINDOW FOR THE AUGUST 13 ELECTIONS NARROWS TIGHT AS RULING MOVES TO END OF MARCH

By KBN TV

The former ruling party Patriotic Front (PF) may be running out of time in an impossible legal battle that could hand them a technical knock out from the August 13 race following new information that the highly anticipated ruling is only expected not later than March 27, 2026.

PF Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Mwamba, says judge Conceptor Chinyanwa Zulu, who is handling the consent judgement case between Brian Mundubile, Raphael Nakacinda Vs Miles Sampa, has promised to deliver her ruling on the consent to restore and reconcile the Patriotic on March 27, 2026.

According to the PF, Judge Zulu will also deliver a ruling on Sampa’s Contempt application against Morgan Ng’ona whom they allege masquerades as the party’s Secretary General.

Yesterday,  judge Zulu failed to deliver the ruling on account of a workshop she was attending.

However, political pundits says the ruling now expected on March 27, leaves a very narrow window for PF to reorganise itself, go to the convention, and meet all legal requirements before nominations under the revised Electoral Process Act.
