Woman Jailed for ‘Borrowing’ K11,000 with Neighbour’s NRC

Woman Jailed for ‘Borrowing’ K11,000 with Neighbour’s NRC – No Collateral, Just Curiosity!

If nosiness was a profession, Mary Kunda would be a CEO by now!

In a classic case of “ati chabe ni phone charge,” a 30-year-old woman has landed herself 18 months behind bars for turning her neighbour’s handset into an ATM. The drama unfolded when Charles Chinyama’s wife took his phone to Kunda’s house for a simple recharge not knowing she was powering up a full-blown loan application.

According to Byta FM’s court reporter, Kunda did not just charge the phone, she charged straight into Chinyama’s privacy accessing messages, snooping like a seasoned detective, and finding gold: his NRC number and Airtel Money password. Who knew a charging session could spark such electricity?

As fate (and nosy fingers) would have it, one of the messages was from UNIFI Financial Institution inviting Chinyama to apply for a loan. And just like that, Kunda, now playing “Borrower of the Year,” used his details to bag herself a K11,000 loan. The money dropped into Chinyama’s Airtel Money account faster than a neighbour can say “ndine mwamuna wa nyumba ino!”

But our heroine had a plan. She quickly rerouted the funds to an accomplice Arnold Muyuni and staged the classic Zambian move: “Boss, I sent by mistake!” The two met in Lubombo, cashed out K6,000 at one booth and K5,000 at another. Muyuni, for his role as a walking ATM, got a humble K50 at least she didn’t say “ni thanks yeka.”

Chinyama only discovered the loan after receiving those suspicious messages encouraging early repayment. “Repay what?” he probably asked, thinking UNIFI had dialed the wrong villager. Upon investigating, he found he had unknowingly become a beneficiary of a loan he never begged for.

In court, the gavel fell like a bounced loan cheque. Kunda is now serving 18 months of simple imprisonment proving that in Zambia, not all power surges end with a bright bulb.

Nigeria’s ruling party Endorses 73 Year Old  President Bola Tinubu for 2027 election

Nigeria’s ruling party Endorses 73 Year Old  Tinubu for 2027 election

By: AfricanNews

Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress has endorsed President Bola Tinubu to run for a second and final term in office. The announcement came Thursday during a party summit in Abuja, marking the second anniversary of Tinubu’s presidency.

The 73 year old, won the last election in February 2023. His two main challengers claimed the vote was rigged, but their legal challenges were dismissed. Tinubu has maintained that he won fairly.

The APC says it wants Tinubu to continue the economic reforms his government launched—measures that include ending a decades-old fuel subsidy and liberalising the exchange rate.

While these policies have drawn praise from credit rating agencies and the IMF, they’ve also led to soaring inflation and a deep cost-of-living crisis.

Despite criticism over economic hardship and insecurity, Tinubu remains influential—such as when he met French President Emmanuel Macron in 2024 as part of efforts to boost international partnerships.

The opposition, meanwhile, remains divided and weakened by high-profile defections.

TIMMY TAKES ON ZAMBIA WHISTLEBLOWER: BUMPER HARVEST IS A BIG LEAGUE DEAL”

“TIMMY TAKES ON ZAMBIA WHISTLEBLOWER: BUMPER HARVEST IS A BIG LEAGUE DEAL”

By Timmy

Folks, let’s talk about this article from Zambia Whistleblower. They’re trying to downplay our incredible bumper harvest, but I’m here to tell you, it’s a huge deal. We need to celebrate this achievement and figure out how to do even better.

🔴The Numbers Don’t Lie

The latest crop forecast survey says we’re looking at 3.6 million metric tonnes of maize in 2025. That’s a big league number, folks. Now, I know some of you are saying, “But what about the numbers from 2021?” Well, let me tell you, those numbers are great, but this is a different story. We’re talking about a drought-devastated season that almost left Zambia with malnutrition. President Hakainde Hichilema stood strong, and we didn’t have widespread hunger. That’s something to be proud of.

🔴Increasing Production

So, how do we build on this success? Here are a few ideas¹:
✅Empower Farmers: Provide more support to our farmers, give them the tools they need to succeed. This could include better access to fertilizers, seeds, and equipment.

✅Secure Strategic Reserves: Make sure we’ve got enough food stored away for the tough times. This will help us avoid future shortages and keep our economy stable.
✅Become Africa’s Largest Producer: Let’s aim high, folks. With the right strategy and support, we can become the largest producer of grains in Africa. That’s a goal worth striving for.

🔴Kudos to the Farmers and Government

I want to give a big shout-out to our farmers out there. You’re doing an amazing job, and we appreciate your hard work. And to President Hakainde Hichilema and his team, you’re doing an excellent job so far. Let’s keep pushing forward and make Zambia a food powerhouse.

The Zambia Whistleblower might try to spin this story, but the facts are clear: we’re on the right track, and we need to keep moving forward. Let’s focus on increasing production, securing our strategic reserves, and empowering our farmers. That’s the way to build a strong economy and a better future for Zambia.

“THERE IS INCREASED APPRECIATION OF THE PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS” – KASUNE

Justice Minister PRINCESS KASUNE says there has been increased appreciation of the proposed constitution amendments.

Speaking when she paid a courtesy call on North Western Province Minister ROBERT LIHEFU in the company of Mines and Mineral Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE, Ms. KASUNE said members of the public are now appreciating the proposed constitution amendments.

Meanwhile, Mr. KABUSWE revealed that the country has recorded a 30 percent increase in copper production in the first quarter of 2025.

He said this is due to the progressive policies that have been implemented by the government which have allowed the mining sector to thrive.

And Mr. LIHEFU said government will continue working towards improving the lives of the people in the country.

UPND SHOULD REDUCE MEALIE MEAL WITHOUT  STEPPING ON  FARMERS EFFORTS

UPND SHOULD REDUCE MEALIE MEAL WITHOUT  STEPPING ON  FARMERS EFFORTS.

_22 – May – 2025 Thursday._

As a farmer, an aspiring member of parliament for Kalulushi Constituency and indeed national chairlady for Citizens First Party, I, Faith Munthali, express deep concern about the recent reduction of mealie meal prices across the province. This move is particularly disheartening for our farmblock community, which heavily relies on farming. We strongly oppose any plans to reduce mealie meal allocation, especially when farming inputs are already expensive and electricity tariffs remain prohibitively high.

Such measures threaten the backbone of our agricultural sector, which sustains our nation and supports countless families. Farmers are not merely contributors; they are entrepreneurs and vital pillars of our economy. Reducing mealie meal supply will directly impact their livelihoods, as millers will likely insist on buying maize at lower prices, undervaluing farmers’ hard work and investments.

This imbalance will discourage farmers from continuing their efforts and may push them out of productive agriculture altogether. To support our farmers and secure our food future, Citizens First commits to providing access to affordable, modern farming inputs and training on best agricultural practices. We urge policymakers to prioritize farmers’ welfare and recognize the importance of fair policies and adequate resource allocation for national development.

Let’s work together to safeguard the well-being of our nation by supporting our farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

“Divine” Scandal, 11 Nabbed as Brothel Masquerading as Massage Parlour Gets Busted

“Divine” Scandal, 11 Nabbed as Brothel Masquerading as Massage Parlour Gets Busted

It started with a simple complaint: “Ba Council, we’re tired of seeing strange cars at number 9 even at midnight!” What followed was a scene straight out of a RED bag the Zambian drama movie, complete with council police, used cond0ms, and a so-called “massage bed” that saw more than just sore backs.

On Tuesday morning, May 20th, what was meant to be a routine inspection by Kitwe City Council turned into a full-blown raid as officials stormed House Number 9, Mumbwa Close, off Chandamali Road, following growing whispers of “unholy” activities behind the high wall and tinted windows of a business operating as Divine Massage Spa.

Residents of the usually quiet Parklands area had been grumbling for months about the “massage parlour” with customers arriving in SUVs, disappearing inside for exactly 17 minutes, and emerging looking mysteriously relaxed. One neighbor reportedly said, “We thought they were doing Chinese foot massages until we found a used cond0m in our yard. Even our dog was confused.”

Inside the house, drama unfolded like an 18+ script. Ten young women were found some in bathrobes, others wrapped in questionable outfits best described as “lingerie meets fashion disaster.” In the kitchen bin? Used cond0ms with “evidence” still intact. Council health officers stopped mid-step. One whispered, “Even CSI Kitwe isn’t ready for this.”

Among the arrested was 28-year-old Kimberly Mbewe, suspected to be a procuress of the establishment. Calm and collected, she allegedly asked officers if they wanted a “deep tissue massage” before being firmly directed to the back of the council van.

The house itself told a juicy story: one room had a proper massage bed, as per the license. But the other rooms were furnished like a lodge pa weekend two beds, music speakers, mirror lights, and drawers filled with oils that were not Johnson’s Baby. Investigators found that the women, aged 22 to 31, actually lived at the premises, making the brothel a full-time, in-house operation.

The Council’s Director of Public Health, Rodney Banda, said the bust followed a particularly disturbing complaint: a child picked up a used cond0m near the wall fence. That was the final straw. “We moved in quickly. This wasn’t just about illegal business it was a public health risk,” he said.

As officers rounded up the suspects, some neighbors watched from their yards with popcorn. “You see, we knew something was wrong,” said a man who identified himself only as Mr. Tembo. “Even our wives stopped sending us to buy bread from that direction. Too much temptation!”

Kitwe City Council Public Relations Manager Mwaka Nakweti confirmed the premises had been officially shut down. “This kind of business has no place in our communities. If you want to massage people, do it the right way not the ‘zinachitika pa bed and bin’ way.”

The house, owned by one Mr. Sydney Banda of Solwezi, is now under investigation, and the eleven women hailing from Kitwe, Ndola, Lusaka, Petauke, and Kabwe are facing charges related to living off the earnings of prostitution.

As for Divine Massage Spa? The only thing divine about it was how quickly it got shut down.

Congo removes Kabila’s immunity for possible prosecution

DR CONGO STRIPS FORMER PRESIDENT KABILA OF IMMUNITY OVER TREASON CHARGES

BBC- The Democratic Republic of Congo’s senate has stripped former President Joseph Kabila of his immunity, paving the way for his prosecution over his alleged backing of rebels in the east.

Authorities have accused him of treason and war crimes, saying there was a “substantial body of documents, testimony and material facts” linking Kabila to the M23 armed group, which has taken control of several towns in the mineral-rich east.

Kabila, 53, has not commented on the accusations but has in the past denied any connection with the insurgents.

Nearly 90 senators on Thursday voted in favour of his treason prosecution, while five opposed it.

“The senate authorises the prosecution and lifting of Joseph Kabila’s immunity,” declared senate Speaker Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde after Thursday’s vote.

The former president, who led the country between 2001 and 2019, did not appear before the senate to defend himself.

After stepping down, he was given the title of “senator for life”, which gives him legal immunity.

PODCAST: Why are people talking about Kabila’s return?
What’s the fighting in DR Congo all about?
In order to pursue the charges against him, DR Congo’s military prosecutor had asked the senate to lift this privilege.

Kabila has been living outside the country, in South Africa, for the past two years. But at the beginning of last month he said he would be returning to help find a solution to the conflict in the east.

A few weeks later, there were reports that the former president had come back and was in Goma, one of the cities captured by the M23.

But these were denied by his political party, the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD).

Last month, the authorities banned the PPRD because of its “ambiguous attitude” to the occupation of Congolese territory by the M23.

Ordering the seizure of Kabila’s assets, Justice Minister Mutamba said the former president should return to the country and “face justice… and present his defence”.

Analysts say any trial of Kabila could further destabilise the country, which has been battling the M23 rebellion since 2012.

Kabila’s party termed his prosecution “pure theatre” aimed at distracting Congolese people from the main challenges facing the country, AFP news agency reported.

ITALY COURT RULES BOTH MOTHERS IN SAME-SEX COUPLES MUST BE RECOGNISED ON BIRTH CERTIFICATES

By: Citizens TV Kenya

Italy’s highest court ruled Thursday that women in same-sex couples who become mothers through IVF have the right to be recognised on the birth certificate even if they are not the biological parent.

The ruling was hailed as “historic” by opposition parties in Italy, which is governed by self-declared “Christian mother” Giorgia Meloni.

The far-right leader has railed against the “LGBT lobby” and says she defends traditional family values in the majority-Catholic country.

The Constitutional Court in Rome “ruled as discriminatory the failure to recognise both mothers” on birth certificates, a decision which “effectively becomes law”, lawyer Michele Giarratano told AFP.

Those celebrating included Chiara Soldatini, who moved to Spain with her family last year after realising her rights were under threat.

“I am happy no one will now be able to challenge the fact our son is our son,” she told AFP.

While civil unions became legal in Italy in 2016, same-sex couples cannot access medically assisted reproduction, and the law did not account for children conceived abroad by mothers in same-sex relationships who then give birth in Italy.

Encouraged by several court rulings, local mayors have in recent years been registering both biological and non-biological parents on birth certificates.

But in 2023, Meloni’s interior minister ordered town halls to stop transcribing certificates of children born abroad through surrogacy.

In response, prosecutors across Italy began contesting birth certificates of children born abroad or in Italy to same-sex parents — whether through surrogacy or by other means.

Non-biological mothers risked losing access to their children if their partner died or the relationship broke down, as well as suffering day-to-day stresses such as not being able to take their child to a doctor without the other parent’s permission.

Limpopo Beneficiaries Braai 30 Cows Awarded To Them To Start Farming Project

Limpopo Beneficiaries Braai 30 Cows Awarded To Them To Start Farming Project

Ga-Mokopane, Limpopo – The sun had barely risen over the quiet village when the first aroma of sizzling fat filled the air. It started as a whisper the soft crackle of oil hitting meat, the hiss of spice meeting fire. By mid-morning, the village was alive with smoke, laughter, and the unmistakable scent of dreams being grilled.

This was no ordinary Saturday. It was meant to be the start of a new chapter 30 strong, healthy cows donated by a well-meaning NGO and the Department of Agriculture to empower local beneficiaries with a sustainable livestock farming project.

Instead, what unfolded was nothing short of a community-wide, slow-cooked rebellion.

From the moment the trucks offloaded the cattle, the mood shifted. There was cheering, ululation, and… a group of elders already sharpening knives with suspicious enthusiasm. “We were told these cows were for meat production,” said community spokesperson Fanie Malatji, now standing proudly behind three braai stands made from 200-litre drums. “So we wasted no time. This is what you call immediate implementation.”

Within hours, the once-ambitious livestock project had been rebranded not as a farm, but as Limpopo’s largest ever braai party. The cows didn’t get names; they got marinades.

The air was thick with music and the irresistible perfume of barbecue. Children danced around fires, women stirred pots the size of satellite dishes, and DJs blasted tracks like “Ngiyavuma (Meat Is Life)” and “Nshima Na T-bone Reloaded”. A goat somewhere in the distance watched in terrified silence, likely praying not to be next.

“I’ve never seen unity like this,” said one elderly woman as she flipped cow liver over a grill with a piece of roofing sheet. “Not even during elections.”

By the time government officials arrived, expecting to check on the project’s progress, they were greeted with what one might call a culinary crime scene. Bones were piled high, sauces were flowing like dam water in rainy season, and the last few ribs were getting their final sear. An agriculture officer was reportedly seen chewing in confusion before declaring, “We are… deeply disturbed. But whoever made this dry rub deserves a government tender.”

Photos of the event have since gone viral one especially iconic shot shows a man in a ZESCO overall of Limpopo dancing with a cow skull in one hand and a Coke in the other.

When pressed on what they thought the cattle were for, another community member wiped her hands on an apron that read “Braai Now, Apologize Later” and said, “We understood the assignment. We just chose the tastier route.”

The group has now been disqualified from any future livestock programs, but rumors are already swirling that they’ve been invited to headline a From Cow to Charcoal: African Flavors Tour sponsored by three meat companies and a hot sauce brand.

Asked what they’d do differently next time, Mr. Malatji replied with a chuckle, “Next time, give us chickens. At least those don’t moo in protest.”

Trump administration ends Harvard’s ability to enrol international students

Trump administration ends Harvard’s ability to enrol international students

(BBC) The Trump administration has moved to end Harvard’s ability to enrol international students, escalating a standoff with America’s oldest university.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X that the administration had revoked Harvard’s “Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification as a result of their failure to adhere to the law.”

“Let this serve as a warning to all universities and academic institutions across the country,” she wrote.

Harvard called the move “unlawful” in a statement.

“We are fully committed to maintaining Harvard’s ability to host our international students and scholars, who hail from more than 140 countries and enrich the University – and this nation – immeasurably,” the university said.

“We are working quickly to provide guidance and support to members of our community. This retaliatory action threatens serious harm to the Harvard community and our country, and undermines Harvard’s academic and research mission.”

The Trump administration’s decisions could affect thousands of international students who study at the university.

Over 6,700 international students were enrolled at the institution last academic year, university data shows, making up 27% of its student body.

The White House has demanded Harvard make changes to hiring, admissions and teaching practices to help fight antisemitism on campus.

It has threatened to revoke the university’s tax-exempt status and freeze billions of dollars in government grants.

Harvard earlier said it had taken many steps to address antisemitism, and that demands were an effort to regulate the university’s “intellectual conditions”.

Trevor Noah faces criticism for silence amid Trump’s unfounded white genocide claims on South Africa

Trevor Noah faces criticism for silence amid Trump’s unfounded white genocide claims on South Africa

South African comedian and former The Daily Show host Trevor Noah is under scrutiny for not addressing U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent assertions of a “white genocide” in South Africa.

During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump presented misleading materials to support his claims, which have been widely debunked by fact-checkers and South African authorities.

Social media users have expressed disappointment over Noah’s silence, urging him to speak out against the misinformation. Given his South African heritage and international platform, many believe he has a responsibility to counteract such narratives.

As of now, Trevor Noah has not made a public statement regarding Trump’s remarks.

Trump calls for Julius  Malema’s arrest

Trump calls for Malema’s arrest

On May 21, during a meeting in the White House with President Cyril Ramaphosa, U.S. President Donald Trump called for the arrest of Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), over his use of the “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer” chant.

Trump played a video montage of Malema singing the song, claiming it incited violence against white farmers and falsely suggesting Malema was a government official.

He questioned why Ramaphosa hadn’t arrested Malema, citing concerns about unfounded “white genocide” and land expropriation in South Africa.

Ramaphosa clarified that the chant, rooted in the anti-apartheid struggle, does not reflect government policy and that South Africa’s Constitution protects freedom of expression.

He emphasized that crime, including farm murders, affects all South Africans, not just white farmers.

Malema, an opposition politician, responded on X, dismissing the meeting as “older men gossiping” about him and rejecting claims of white genocide as lacking evidence.

He reaffirmed his stance on land expropriation without compensation. South African courts, including the Supreme Court of Appeal in May 2024, have ruled the chant is not hate speech when considered in its historical context.

A networth of $400-billion doesn’t mean I have $400 billion in my bank account. I don’t even have up to $1-million in cash now.” ~ Elon Musk

“A networth of $400-billion doesn’t mean I have $400 billion in my bank account. I don’t even have up to $1-million in cash now.” ~ Elon Musk

One time, Elon was questioned about what it feels like to be a Billionaire and he said he still borrows money like every other person, asks investors to invest in his businesses because he doesn’t have all the cash to fund his projects despite his network. And yes, he said his entire wealth is tied to the stock he holds in his companies. This also serves as a guarantee to investors because they know that if the company goes bankrupt, then Elon himself will go completely bankrupt too. He sacrificed having cash for the growth of his company.

In fact, he is quoted as saying “I get annoyed when I see the kind of mindsets people have about rich people, especially billionaires. People feel so threatened by rich people’s success that they tend to use rich people’s success as an excuse for their failures.

Most people don’t yet understand the concept of wealth. Yes, I am worth over $300 billion but it’s not like I have a massive account balance of $300 billion or something. My account balance is very, very low. I don’t even have up to $1 million in my account right now. All my money is in stock and when I sell my stock, I still invest in more stock. My wealth is my companies. If Tesla or Space-X went bankrupt, I’ll go bankrupt too, immediately. And even with my networth, I still take loans and invest because I don’t actually have physical cash.”

Me: Whether this is true or not, the lessons are definitely accurate because this is the accurate description of networth and how it is different from liquidity.

We need to develop a Zambian algorithm that accurately tracks the networth of Zambians based on local metrics like land ownership, cattle ownership etc. One in Mazabuka can own thousands of cattles but sit on sandy ground and because he’s not dressed in suits and jumping from helicopter to private jet, you may conclude he’s not wealthy. I am passionate about redefining Wealth in Africa – starting from Zambia.

Chaos breaks out at ANC Peter Mokaba conference

Chaos breaks out at ANC Peter Mokaba conference

Tensions flared at the ANC’s Peter Mokaba conference as violence erupted among delegates. The situation spiraled out of control, with chairs and tables being thrown during heated clashes.

The unrest stems from dissatisfaction over the conference proceedings. Delegates expressed outrage over the participation of certain branches that had reportedly been disqualified.

At least two individuals have reportedly been injured, and the ongoing violence threatens to derail the entire conference.

Motsepe tipped as potential ANC Presidential candidate

Motsepe tipped as potential ANC Presidential candidate

Patrice Motsepe, the billionaire owner of Mamelodi Sundowns and president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is reportedly being lobbied by senior members of the African National Congress (ANC) to run for the party’s presidency at its December 2027 conference, positioning him as a potential candidate for South Africa’s next president in 2029.

According to sources cited by Rapport and Sunday World, ANC insiders see Motsepe’s business acumen, football leadership, and humble roots as assets to rejuvenate the party’s image amid declining voter support.

Motsepe, 63, has not publicly confirmed his candidacy but is said to be open to the idea. His success in transforming Mamelodi Sundowns into a continental powerhouse and his re-election as CAF president in March 2025 have bolstered his reputation as a capable leader.

However, some skepticism exists. Joining the ANC could be a misstep for Motsepe, suggesting he could run independently given his wealth and influence.

Critics view the ANC’s interest as a sign of desperation to regain voter trust. Motsepe’s ties to President Cyril Ramaphosa, his brother-in-law, and his business empire, including African Rainbow Minerals, add complexity to his potential political bid.

While the ANC succession race heats up, with figures like Deputy President Paul Mashatile and Fikile Mbalula also in contention, Motsepe’s political ambitions remain unconfirmed. His next steps could reshape South Africa’s political landscape.

Bruno Fernandes offers to leave Man United

Bruno Fernandes has said he will leave Manchester United this summer if the club wants to cash in on him in the wake of their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old midfielder has recently been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, leading head coach Ruben Amorim to stress United should try to keep “one of the top players in the world”.

‘I have always been honest,’ he said after the match against Spurs on Wednesday. ‘If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it’s what it is. Football sometimes is like this.

‘I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go. I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days.

‘The day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way.’

Fernandes, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, remains convinced that Ruben Amorim is the right man to take United forward despite overseeing the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign.

‘We just agreed that he’s the right man,’ he added. ‘He has done a lot of good things. We know that the manager is looked at by the results. Obviously, we see more than that as players.

‘We know for everyone it will be about him bringing back the positivity in the club. To try to bring the club back to fight for trophies, fight for the big trophies. And we all agree that he’s the right man.

‘It’s not my decision but I do think the manager is the right one and I don’t think that there will be a better person to do the job. I know it’s difficult to understand that, it’s difficult to see that. But I still do think that he’s the right man to lead the club.

‘I do think that the club is in a situation where it’s easier to get a different one in because the results haven’t been there. But as my other teammates said, and I repeat myself, I do think he’s the right man.’

On losing the final 1-0 to Tottenham at the San Mames, Fernandes said: ‘It’s very sad. We wanted to win this final more than anything. It’s a very sad day because we’ve done some very good things in this competition until today.

‘But today was the day that mattered, the most important day of the competition. It was the day we could have been in the history of the Europa League, but it’s not like that. And football is cruel, and it’s been our turn to lose. The players have said that this season has been unacceptable.’

United have won just six league games on his watch and are 16th in the Premier League, destined for their lowest finish since relegation in 1974.

Kid Cudi alleges that Diddy broke into his house, injured his dog, and set his car on fire

Kid Cudi alleges he and Cassie dated in 2011 while she was having problems with Diddy. Cudi began his trial witness testimony on Thursday.

Kid Cudi just took the stand in the Diddy trial, and his witness testimony on Thursday (May 22) follows that of his alleged former partner Cassie Ventura last week. According to the Inner City Press’ Matthew Russell Lee on Twitter, the Cleveland artist recalled an alleged home break-in from Sean Combs in the court.

According to Cudi’s allegations, law enforcement arrived at his house in December of 2011 to respond to a call. He and Cassie had left to a more remote location when Combs allegedly found out about their alleged fling. The two rap artists even got on the phone while the Bad Boy mogul was still allegedly at Cudi’s house.

Also, Cudi recalled how his car had allegedly been set on fire following this alleged incident. After this, he and Ventura allegedly broke up.

Kid Cudi and Diddy’s alleged Cassie rift also got some more details thanks to this witness testimony. Cudi alleged he and the singer stared dating in 2011 when she had problems with Combs that led to a break. Ventura reportedly called Cudi at around 6AM saying that Puff found out about them and asked Cudi to pick her up out of worry. They allegedly went to the Sunset Marquis.

Then, Capricorn Clark allegedly told Cudi that Combs was near his car at his house. Cudi allegedly called the mogul, who allegedly said he was waiting for him.

When the INSANO artist arrived at his house later, he didn’t find anything odd about the outside, although he noticed someone else had moved the security cameras, which weren’t working. When he went inside, he allegedly found some open gifts, Chanel items, and his dog locked in the bathroom.

“Mugabe Would Not Have Disappointed” – Cyril Ramaphosa Criticised For Being Too Diplomatic With Trump

“Mugabe would not have disappointed” – Africans react to Trump ambushing Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office
There has been an explosion of reactions online following South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s tense Oval Office meeting with US President Donald Trump on Thursday. Many Africans have weighed in, with some saying the late Robert Mugabe would never have allowed himself to be treated the way Ramaphosa was. Trump’s behaviour, described by some as “an ambush,” left many divided – with some praising Ramaphosa’s restraint and others wishing he had fired back.

“A plane load of sanctions”
South Africans and other Africans across the continent have taken to social media, contrasting Ramaphosa’s calm demeanour with how Mugabe might have responded.

“If it was Uncle Bob in there, he wld have come back with his pride intact and a plane load of sanctions,” wrote user @freemanchari on X, formerly Twitter.

“Trump wld have needed an Oxford dictionary… Bla Ramaphosa understood that he needed to save his country even if it came with personal humiliation… The choice leaders make.”

President Ramaphosa was confronted with a barrage of claims about so-called “white genocide” in South Africa. Trump, in a move that shocked many, dimmed the lights, turned on a video, and began what observers described as a choreographed takedown of the South African leader.

The footage showed far-left activists chanting anti-apartheid slogans like “Shoot the Boer,” and Trump waved around newspaper clippings alleging violence against white South Africans. Ramaphosa kept his composure, simply responding that one would need to “listen to the voices of South Africans” to understand the reality.

Trump reportedly remained unimpressed and continued questioning land reform policies, alleging land was being seized without compensation — a claim that is yet to be implemented in law.

Mugabe vs Mandela vs Ramaphosa

Some users invoked Nelson Mandela’s approach, saying Ramaphosa chose peace over pride.

@mashatisa wrote:

“South African leaders seem to genuinely care for their people rather than serving their own egos… Mugabe might have easily outmatched Trump in a verbal argument, but would have returned home empty-handed.”

@psithole added:

“Sensible leaders know when to fight and when to disarm. He did very well.”

But not everyone agreed. One post read:

“Mugabe would have had Trump for breakfast,” said @Pa_Zed.

“We’ve lost leaders.”

Another post from @BantuPower declared:

“Yesterday Africans were humiliated at the White House… all in an attempt to squash false information about white genocide.”

Critics of Ramaphosa’s diplomacy said he missed a chance to challenge Trump on his own country’s issues, including the January 6 Capitol riots.

“He should have referenced Jan 6th chete chete,” wrote @RipRigz, adding:

“South Africa would have been invaded today.”

A diplomatic dilemma
The meeting appears to have been carefully staged by the Trump team, with even Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa, present in the room. Analysts say Ramaphosa tried to appeal to Trump’s ego by inviting white South African golfing legends Ernie Els and Retief Goosen.

“Foreign leaders should be aware that a trip to the Oval Office comes with the risk of a very public dressing down, often straying into attempts at provocation and humiliation.”

Trump’s confrontational style mirrors his earlier meeting with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which also turned into a televised spat. But this time, Ramaphosa avoided the trap.

Whether that strategy will pay off diplomatically remains to be seen.

As @thee_munashe put it:

“A good soldier knows when to pick a fight… Ramaphosa probably humiliated but understood the assignment.”

DR Congo senate to debate immunity of ormer president Joseph Kabila

0

The Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo is set to debate lifting the immunity of former president Joseph Kabila on Thursday, May 22, a move that could pave the way for his prosecution on charges of supporting a Rwanda-backed rebel group in the country’s troubled eastern region. Kabila, who ruled the DRC from 2001 to 2019, is accused by the current government of President Félix Tshisekedi of backing the M23 armed group, which has seized territory in the east with alleged support from Rwanda.

The government has leveled serious accusations against Kabila, including treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and involvement in an insurrection. These charges stem from allegations that he conspired with M23, whose recent resurgence has intensified conflict in a region already plagued by decades of instability.

Kabila, 53, has not been seen publicly in the country since 2023, with his entourage confirming his absence but declining to reveal his location. Despite stepping down from the presidency, he retains the title of senator for life, a position that grants him parliamentary immunity.

Justice Minister Constant Mutamba had previously called on military courts to open proceedings against the former president. To facilitate this, the military prosecutor submitted a formal request for the Senate to lift Kabila’s immunity. In response, the Senate formed a special commission of 40 lawmakers to assess the case. The commission submitted its findings on Wednesday, ahead of Thursday’s plenary session.

According to a statement from the Senate, the session, scheduled for 1300 GMT, will be dedicated solely to the presentation and adoption of the commission’s report. A vote is expected to follow, determining whether the body supports lifting Kabila’s immunity. If lawmakers vote in favour, further deliberations will be required to establish the legal process for proceeding with the case.

Constitutional experts remain divided on whether the final decision must be ratified by a two-thirds majority in both houses of parliament. However, with President Tshisekedi’s coalition holding a significant majority, such a threshold could be achievable.

Kabila is the only former Congolese president to hold the status of senator for life. The move to strip him of immunity follows months of rising political tension, with Kabila hinting at a possible return to the political scene and criticizing the Tshisekedi administration. While no concrete evidence of his return has surfaced, the government has responded by suspending his party, the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), and raiding several of his properties.

Mayor’s praise for Black hires sparks federal probe into Chicago’s hiring practices

The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a civil rights inquiry into the city of Chicago’s hiring practices, following remarks made by Mayor Brandon Johnson that drew swift public scrutiny. The news was first revealed in a letter shared online and sent directly to the mayor’s office.

The investigation was officially announced on Monday, just one day after Johnson delivered a speech at a local church, during which he emphasized the presence of Black leaders in key positions across his administration. While the mayor’s address aimed to outline his goals for the remainder of his term, it immediately sparked backlash, particularly from conservative voices, who questioned whether his comments signaled racially discriminatory hiring policies.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division cited the speech as the impetus for its probe, stating that it would examine whether the city had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, which bans racial discrimination in employment.

“Considering these remarks, I have authorized an investigation to determine whether the City of Chicago is engaged in a pattern or practice of discrimination as set forth above,” wrote Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon in the letter. “If these kind of hiring decisions are being made for top-level positions in your administration, then it begs the question whether such decisions are also being made for lower-level positions.”

Watch a recent episode of The BreakDown podcast below and subscribe to our channel PanaGenius TV for latest episodes.

The investigation falls in line with a broader shift under the Trump administration, which has reoriented how federal agencies define and pursue civil rights violations. The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division itself has undergone significant restructuring, with several senior officials resigning as the department redirected its focus.

Traditionally, the division has handled claims of discrimination primarily affecting minority groups, including oversight of police departments, housing entities, and voting systems. Investigations like the one now facing Chicago are civil, not criminal and seek to establish patterns of unlawful behavior. Most end with consent decrees, formal agreements that mandate specific reforms and subject the city or agency to federal oversight until compliance is achieved.

Speaking with the Associated Press, Dhillon rejected the idea that the department’s new direction represents a political or philosophical shift.

“I would say that it’s our view that all racial discrimination is illegal in the United States. And I think it’s fair to say the prior administration only looked at that from a particular angle,” she said. “I think that we are taking a step back and taking a broader view, which is what is required under these statutes.”

Dhillon noted that the investigation remains in early stages and that its full scope is yet to be determined.

“Statutes of limitations apply, but we are going to be looking where the facts lead us,” she said, adding that Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Johnson’s predecessor, had also made “concerning” remarks about race in hiring.

The Chicago mayor’s office has yet to issue a response.

Mayor Brandon Johnson, who assumed office in 2023, has built a reputation for his bold and sometimes combative public persona. He has frequently clashed with reporters over questions related to policy and governance. While he has occasionally opted for a cautious tone, such as during a recent joint congressional appearance with other mayors from sanctuary cities, his comments on the DOJ probe struck a more defiant note.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Johnson defended his administration’s hiring strategy and described the investigation as a politically motivated distraction.

“We don’t have to apologize for being concerned about the residents of this city who have borne the brunt of school closures. Think about unemployment in this city, where it is mostly concentrated. Think about violence where it is mostly concentrated,” he said. “It would be shameful if I were to repeat the sins of those who have been in this position before because they did not speak enough to Black Chicagoans.”

He went on to underscore the qualifications of his appointees, many of whom hold credentials in law, education, and specialized fields, while taking a jab at the prior federal administration.

His team, he said, includes “individuals that I would question their qualifications. You’re running a major department and your qualification is wrestling,” Johnson remarked. “As his administration moves away from diversity, you’re seeing more chaos. As my administration embraces diversity, you are seeing us build the safest, most affordable city in America.”

Meanwhile, Dhillon confirmed that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) had also been notified of the matter and is expected to conduct its own inquiry. A spokesperson for the EEOC acknowledged receipt of the DOJ’s letter but declined to confirm whether an official investigation was underway.

Kanye West Claims He Is Officially Done With Antisemitism

After receiving a Facetime call from his kids on Wednesday, it appears as though Kanye West has had a change of heart about Antisemitism.

Over the past three years, Kanye West has gone on numerous Antisemitic rants. Overall, it all started back in 2022 when he began to praise Adolf Hitler. Furthermore, he was associating with Alt-Right figures and would continuously say outrageous things about Jewish people.

At the time, Ye claimed that he was simply doing this to get out of his deal with Adidas. However, once Adidas dropped him, he continued with the Antisemitism. Even in 2025, Ye is still attacking the Jewish community. Songs like “WW3” and “Heil Hitler” are very clear examples of Antisemitism, and fans have had enough.

Well, on Wednesday night, Ye seemingly had a change of heart. We say this because he took to X with a series of Tweets about his newfound mentality. He claims to have gotten a Facetime call from his kids that changed everything for him.

“I am done with antisemitism,” he tweeted. “I love all people. God forgive me for the pain I’ve caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain.”

This was not the Twitter rant fans were expecting last night. If you remember, Playboi Carti called out Kanye West for allegedly stealing his song with NBA YoungBoy. Carti called Ye “lil bra” and this had some thinking that West would crash out on social media.

Instead, he has opted to take the high road. He is vowing to better himself and one has to wonder if he really intends on doing that. After all, he claimed he was done with Antisemitism years ago after watching a movie starring Jonah Hill.

One has to wonder what is next for Ye, at this point. In the eyes of fans, his legacy has taken permanent damage with his antics over the last few years. If you were to ask some of his biggest fans, they would say his last real album was 2021’s DONDA.

Having said that, fans just want Ye to be happy and they want him to be healthy.

Chris Brown speaks out after being released on bail:

Chris Brown was initially in serious trouble of not being able to perform on tour next month, but he was granted a major gift.

There has been quite a bit of uncertainty swirling around Chris Brown especially as it pertains to his future. The iconic but controversial singer ran into some more legal trouble across the pond. He was arrested in the UK late last week due to an alleged act of assault he committed in 2023.

Allegedly, he beat music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in February of that year with a tequila bottle. Following his arrest, Chris Brown was hit with one count of grievous bodily harm. The reason being is because Diaw alleges his injuries were so bad that he needed to go to the hospital. He filed a lawsuit against the “No Guidance” artist; however, it went absolutely nowhere in court.

Things only got worse for Chris Breezy after that. A day after his arrest, he was denied bail. Moreover, his court hearing regarding this alleged altercation wasn’t going to take place until June 13. The reason why that’s important is because the Virginia native was scheduled to begin his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour on June 8.

It was then reported that Brown was expected to enter a plea deal; however not much was known about what that would be. But thankfully for him, he doesn’t need to worry about that now.

He’s now free as of just moments ago as he wound up being able to get out on bail after all. He is to pay £5 million security fee to the court to ensure his return. In USD that translates to $6.7 million. Brown was ordered to pay £4 million of that immediately, with the remaining total due in a week.

He of course has bail conditions, though and they are fairly strict. Overall, he must live at a specific address known to the court, not have contact with the alleged victim, not to visit the Tape nightclub, and not to apply for international travel documents. When not traveling for specific tour dates, he must forfeit his passport too.

Now that this is the case, Brown won’t have to worry about missing his tour or fans. The 51-day trek is still on and he couldn’t be more excited about that. Per The Neighborhood Talk, he posted to his IG Story, writing with much excitement, “From the cage to the stage!!! BreezyBowl.”

UK PROPOSES CHEMICAL CASTRATION FOR SEX OFFENDERS-Sky News

By: Sky News

In a move that may surprise many abroad, the United Kingdom is considering bold reforms to its criminal justice system—including the possibility of chemical castration for sex offenders and the early release of thousands of prisoners.

The proposals come from an independent sentencing review led by former Justice Secretary David Gauke, commissioned by the UK government amid a growing crisis of prison overcrowding. The review aims to reduce the inmate population by nearly 10,000 by the year 2028.

At the heart of the reform is a so-called “progression model,” under which well-behaved prisoners would serve only one-third of their jail terms before being released. The policy would apply broadly, based on the length of the sentence rather than the nature of the crime. This means that even sex offenders and domestic abusers sentenced to less than four years could qualify for early release.

Under this model, offenders would serve a third of their sentence behind bars, another third under community supervision (known in the UK as being “on licence”), and the final portion without any formal oversight. If an individual were to reoffend during this unsupervised phase, they would return to prison to complete the remainder of their sentence—along with any additional time for the new crime.

The possibility of chemical castration, particularly for repeat sex offenders, has also been raised, signaling the government’s intention to combine early release for some with harsher conditions for others.

WHO LEADS THE OPPOSITION, THE BIG QUESTION DIVIDING ALLIANCE UNITY

WHO LEADS THE OPPOSITION, THE BIG QUESTION DIVIDING ALLIANCE UNITY

A KBN TV EDITORIAL

Every political party leader started their journey with conviction that they have what it takes to lead the nation. It was never part of their manifesto to yield to any other party in their pursuit of national leadership.

However, politics is not an easy walk in the park. Nearly every opposition leader has come to terms with the fact that it’s daunting to traverse the length and breadth of this great nation of 20 million citizens canvassing for a vote. It’s expensive, challenging and frustrating.

It has dawned on many opposition political leaders that forming alliances could be one of the most effective pathways to voting the incumbent administration out of power. However, the challenge that the opposition faces today lies in their conflict of interest of wanting to be in an alliance, but not being ready to support one candidate. It seems everyone has been going into an alliance hoping the rest will support them and no one else.

This is where the problem lies and that’s the basis of the political rivalry that we have seen manifesting in various forms. We have said it before and we want to repeat it here that the opposition should agree to sit under a neutral body such as the three Church mother bodies to just oversee a transparent process to help them choose and agree on a single candidate.

We appreciate the coming of Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika on the scene, a very credible and respected figure in Zambian politics. If he is the one going to oversee this solemn process, we hope his terms of reference, does not include a brief about the preferred candidate because that already becomes a rigged process.

As things stand, it’s not possible for political leaders, each with their personal ambitions to preside over an election in which they are personally conflicted.  We saw it in UKA where because of vested interest, political leaders resisted endorsing ECL until he was forced to sponsor the formation of Tonse Alliance and left along with his support base.

Even when ECL, Peter Chanda, Danniel Pule, Sean Tembo and others left UKA, the Alliance under the leadership of SC, Sakwiba Sikota continued to hold endless meetings that couldn’t still help them arrive at a singular candidate. Such meetings have continued to this day except with new faces. Even cardinals in their numbers, it took them only two days to elect the new Pope. What would an alliance be discussing for over a year that they fail to identify a credible leader?

Previously, we authored editorials on the dangers that stalked both UKA and Tonse Alliances but some sections of the opposition took offence, not because our editorials were fictitious, but because of the truth and accuracy of our political analysis. Instead of appreciating and embracing the truth, some chose to be antagonistic, labeling us enemies of opposition party unity.

We could have chosen to take offence and keep quiet, but we realised our calling is higher; we are here to help the nation and if we can add our voice to national discourse, we would have done our job in national interest.

What we warned both UKA and Tonse about, is today’s reality. Therefore, anyone who cares about the outlook of the 2026 elections should save this editorial because they will need to refer back to it at an appropriate time. We have studied the political landscape and we can tell the trajectory to the point of cautiously predicting the out. Like Martin Luther King Jr, we have been to the mountain top.

The opposition is united on everything except on who should be the flag bearer. To refresh your memories, there was great expectation when some parties came together to form UKA but they broke camp over who should become the flag bearer.

To its credit, at least Tonse Alliance were decent enough to unanimously agree on a candidate before the unfair Constitutional Court ruling which disqualified ECL.

However, since this matter remains unsettled, the question of who takes the mantle to lead the opposition into an election continues to remain the biggest challenge facing the opposition today. We think that the essence of being in an alliance is to give up personal egos and be ready to support a single candidate who is clean and popular enough to secure an election.

The truth of the matter is that you don’t really have to like that person, he or she may not be your favourite candidate but if the ground seems to favour that person, you would have no choice but to rally behind such a candidate for the sake of progress.

If for example it’s Harry Kalaba who seems more likeable by the grassroots, the question of discounting him using his age is a lame excuse. We have singled Harry out because while he seems to be making serious political inroads, some of his peers claim he is young to be President, while others are unfairly accusing him of being a UPND project.

We are not his Spokesperson, but his party’s decision to recall him from UKA, should not be used against him or any other who chooses to leave an alliance if they feel it’s not living up to their party’s expectation.

Further, his party’s decision to field a candidate in Lumezi should not be demonised. Coming out of UKA, perhaps there is something he knows that’s not working that others  could learn from before they get too heavily invested in a moribund alliance.

Alliances should not become a new form of prison that once you get in, you can’t come out because if you do, then you will be labelled a surrogate or sellout. That’s unfair and downright blackmail.

There should be more compelling reasons to label someone a surrogate and not because they got one or two police permits to hold a rally. The bar for politics should be higher than such low level of unsubstantiated assertions.

We have watched Kalaba’s press briefings and we have read his press statements which we think have been very ruthless in attacking President Hakainde Hichilema.

It’s therefore inconceivable that Kalaba can be so ungrateful to constantly attack his perceived pay master, unless there is a new level of political pretence and deceit.

These sentiments are pointing to the fact that until opposition leaders come to terms with the fact that there can only be one leader to represent their collective interest, this problem steeped in selfish interests will persist.

When on one hand Tonse is preaching opposition unity, they recently opted to admit to the Council of Leaders names such as Mutotwe Kafwaya, Mumbi Phiri and Davies Mwila, who are already in their corner, yet they are still mute about the Socialist Party’s application to join the Alliance. Hitherto, SP has not been admitted as a member of the Tonse Alliance.

This is despite the Chairperson lifting suspensions and revoking letters written by the Alliance spokesperson Sean Tembo.

We are aware of feelings of dissatisfaction within Tonse but the alliance must do everything possibe to secure the unity it has demonstrated. The absence of ECL as Chairperson should not be the reason for cracks to emerge.

These are matters that require introspection and deep reflection. They  can’t be wished away. The weight of these simmering divisions goes beyond partisan interests; they affect an entire nation looking for alternative political leadership.

It’s for the reason above that Zambians were happy to see representatives of the Zambia We Want, Socialist Party and the UKA remnant getting into talks with the Tonse Alliance.

However, the situation doesn’t seem to be the same anymore. Yes, public statements have been made about fielding a single candidate in Lumezi, but that’s not the answer to underlying issues of unity or the lack of it.

Recent public appearances would suggest that Tonse Alliance have conveniently taken themselves out of the equation. For example, when a former PF member of parliament Maureen Mabonga was sentenced, people were distracted by the presence of Police confiscating placards from UKA, SP and ZWW officials without paying attention to the fact that Tonse Alliance and PF leaders in particular, were nowhere in sight to offer solidarity to its senior member at such a critical moment.

Did anyone sit-down to ask the question why PF were missing in that particular video at the magistrates’ courts?

Therefore, with the political heat reaching fever pitch going into an election year, the Lumezi parliamentary by-election and any other to follow becomes very critical. Lumezi is a mirror of the future political outlook going into 2026 and from what we can see, even though a few political parties will participate statistically, it seems the main actors in Lumezi will be Tonse Alliance, UPND and Citizens First.

Premised on the above Lumezi scenario and without prejudice against any player, it’s almost predictable that all things being equal, the 2026 elections will be a three horse race between UPND, Tonse Alliance and Citizens First.

The footnote though here is that should Tonse not admit SP into the alliance, we potentially can predict another alliance comprising UKA, Zambia We Want and SP.

The 54-year-old legislator, who has denied the charge, is accused of threatening the journalist during an incident that occurred on July 21, 2023, shortly after she was ordered to leave the National Assembly by Speaker Nelly Mutti.

It is alleged that Ms. Katuta spat on the photojournalist during the encounter while demanding that he delete photographs he had taken of her.

MEALIE MEAL PRICE REDUCTION COMMENDABLE  – KALABA

MEALIE MEAL PRICE REDUCTION COMMENDABLE  – KALABA

… says the price should continue reducing for the benefit of the people.

LUSAKA, THURSDAY MAY, 22, 2025 [SMART EAGLES]

Citizens First party President Harry Kalaba has commended the Millers Association of Zambia  MAZ  for reducing the price of mealie meal in the range of K60 to K130 per bag.

MAZ president  Andrew Chintala attributed the reduction to the influx of newly harvested maize on the market.

Speaking when he featured on the ‘Hot Seat’ program this morning,  Mr. Kalaba said he hope’s that the price of mealie meal will continue reducing until it reaches K50.

“We commend the millers for the effort and we hope that the price of mealie meal will continue reducing until it reaches the promised K50 which will be for the benefit of our people,”Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said Government recklessness in handling the energy sector has led to power deficits in the country.

He said
even when Zambians are spending long hours without electricity, the UPND Government has continued to sale power to neighboring countries.

“We have deficit of power because government has been reckless. They have continued exporting electricity to Namibia,DR Congo and other neighboring countries at the expense of Zambians. When CF forms Government next year we will suspend power exports until the country is stable and citizens have uninterrupted power access, ” Mr.

” CF will also diversify the energy sector and also build more Hydropower stations in the northern region which has stable rainfall patterns, this can only be done by prudent utilisation of our minerals to cushion the livelihoods of our people, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

The people of Lewanika Ward in Mongu Central Constituency chanted  “2026 NO CHANGE ZAMBIA FORWARD WITH HH UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE”

The crowd who were in uncompromising mood chanted this slogan repeatedly, citing the good policies President Hichilema is implementing to better the people’s lives, such as free education, increased CDF that has brought development to the doorsteps of the people and banning the much hated and despised caderism among many other policies.

This was during a party mobilization campaign meeting held in Lewanika Ward today, which was addressed by Western Province Presidential Campaign Team Coordinator General Max Kasabi and his team.

Kasabi told the cheering crowd to mobilize and campaign for President Hakainde Hichilema to the last man and woman standing, inorder for the progressive policies being implemented by government to continue.

” Some small dark corner political parties without any vision will come and tell you lies in an effort to tarnish the President’s good image but don’t entertain them, as they are time wasters and political scammers driven by personal hatred for HH and insatiable appetite for political power, but with absolutely no vision and no idea about governance, let’s give HH 100% votes in 2026 to Win Big and whitewash the opposition  in Western Province” Kasabi said to the cheering slogan chanting crowd.

Citizens First (CF) to field own candidate in Lumezi by election

CF to field own candidate in Lumezi by election

By Mubanga Mubanga

Citizens First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba says his party will field its own candidate in the upcoming Lumezi Parliamentary by-election.

And Kalaba says the country is on autopilot because of lack of leadership.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Kalaba said the party would not support other candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Lumezi but would field its own.

The Lumezi seat fell vacant following the conviction of independent member of parliamnet Munir Zulu for seditious practice, and is currently serving a prison sentence on other offences.

Kalaba also said the party was ready to work with the opposition who were genuine.

“We have heard the loud call by the citizens, for a united opposition and we agree with the call for a united opposition.

However, it is important to recall that the Citizens First has demonstrated its willingness to work with other opposition political parties and leaders as long as it is genuine,” Kalaba said.

“We stood with other leaders at the inception of UKA and, l am sure the former chairperson Mr Saki (Sakwiba Sikota SC) will tell you about this and did so selflessly. The Citizens First, supported and stood with all members of UKA, with whom, l still share a personal connection.”

And Kalaba said the country was faced with a serious leadership void.

“The CF leadership has continued to re-echo the fact that, Zambia is faced with an existential threat.

That is not emanating from resource scarcity or foreign attacks, but rather the nation is faced with a serious leadership void. But today, one can easily surmise that, the nation is on autopilot,” Kalaba said.

Why is IMF calling for Energy and ZESCO reforms? Out of all key sectors why is IMF fixated on ZESCO?

ZESCO is vertically integrated utility engaged in generation, transmission, distribution and retail trade. IMF want ZESCO unbundled into 3 or more independent firms.

MUKUKA CALLS ON HH TO EMULATE RAMAPHOSA AND VISIT US OVER MEDICAL AID TO ZAMBIA

MUKUKA CALLS ON HH TO EMULATE RAMAPHOSA AND VISIT US OVER MEDICAL AID TO ZAMBIA

MUKUKA Kampamba known as Tiza Mukuka wants President Hichilema to engage Trump over medial aid recently cut off from Zambia by US.

Below is a statement written on Tiza Mukuka’s facebook page;

KEY TAKE AWAYS FROM TRUMP-RAMAPHOSA MEETING AND MENTIONING ME

South Africa faces misinformation, leading the US to view it negatively.

Trump expressed satisfaction with my work, when he said look at Zambia’s youth program, “Tiza Mukuka’s work is good but tough”.

Leaders like Julius Malema use their influence to damage the country’s image, and Trump based his views on Malema’s rhetoric on land ownership.

The US government has videos of Malema advising crowds to seize land from white farmers, which is wrong.

Zambian leaders must be cautious about what they say online, as the global community will evaluate it based on digital evidence.

Zambia’s bilateral ties with the US have deteriorated, evidenced by the recent K1.5 billion cut in medical aid.

To address this, Zambia should cut by half government spending, especially CDF, and transfer funds to healthcare.

President Hichilema should invite Trump to Zambia or visit the White House to address this issue on a presidential level, reassuring the US that Zambia is working to strengthen the health care system.

No country works alone, so it would be beneficial for Hichilema and Trump to meet to benefit the people of Zambia and America.

Trump shows Congo images as ‘proof’ of white genocide in South Africa

Trump shows Congo images as ‘proof’ of white genocide in South Africa

During a meeting at the Oval Office on May 21, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump presented President Cyril Ramaphosa with images he claimed were evidence of a “white genocide” occurring in South Africa.

However, according to sources, some of the images shown was misrepresented. The photo, purported to show burial sites of white farmers, was in fact taken in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It depicted Red Cross workers handling body bags following a mass prison break in Goma, where numerous women were reportedly raped and burned alive.

President Ramaphosa, unaware of the image’s actual context at the time, responded calmly. He firmly rejected the genocide claims and explained that crime in South Africa affects all communities, with the majority of victims being Black South Africans.

Clergy urges men to make informed decisions on vasectomy!

Clergy urges men to make informed decisions on vasectomy!

United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Lusaka Presbytery Bishop, Rev. Lordwell Siame has urged men to take a more informed and responsible approach to vasectomy, encouraging them to fully understand the medical, emotional, and long-term implications of the procedure before undergoing it.

This follows reports that over 500 men in Lusaka have opted for vasectomy due to the rising cost of living and increasing financial pressure.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Bishop, Siame, acknowledged that vasectomy can be a viable family planning option but stressed the importance of men taking ownership of their reproductive health choices.

“If the process is well-researched, then vasectomy is not a problem,” said Bishop Siame.

He also noted that women have traditionally borne the brunt of reproductive responsibilities, often undergoing invasive and sometimes risky procedures.

He emphasized that it is only fair for men to share in this responsibility.

HH VISITS HIS FORMER SCHOOL

HH VISITS HIS FORMER SCHOOL

He writes…✍️

It was a momentous occasion to visit and address pupils and teachers at my former school, Kalomo Secondary, in Southern Province.

As a former pupil of this school from 1976 to 1980 in Red Hostel and graduated from Form 5A Class, we will always cherish this school and hold it dear to our hearts.

During our address, we reiterated our commitment to prioritise education because education is everything to us.

We encouraged pupils to work hard in school and embrace the art of discipline.

Further, we encouraged them to develop the mindset of entrepreneurship so that they can become employers in the future.

We are proud of this school, and together with others who passed through Kalomo Secondary, we will continue supporting it in every way possible.

PRESS STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RESPONSE TO PF MEDIA STATEMENT ON EDUCATION

We have taken note of the statement released by the Patriotic Front (PF) through its Media Director Mr. Edwin Lifwekelo, dated 21st May 2025, in which he attempts to discredit the strides the UPND administration has made in the education sector since assuming office.

While the PF continues to engage in political nostalgia and rhetorical gymnastics, the people of Zambia are living the real results of the UPND’s transformative agenda.

Let us address the PF’s claims with clarity and facts.

1. Free Education: From Rhetoric to Reality

Unlike the PF, which talked about education without ever removing the burden of user fees from poor households, the UPND government delivered free education from early childhood to secondary school, as promised. This has resulted in a significant increase in enrolment, especially among girls and children from rural and poor families. Education has been restored as a right, not a privilege. That is transformative.
PF’s record? Children sent home for non-payment of K150. Meal allowances scrapped. School dropouts. That is the legacy the PF must own.

2. Teacher Recruitment: From Stagnation to Expansion

Under PF, there was a freeze on teacher recruitment. The PF boasts of building schools but conveniently omits the fact that many stood empty—white elephants without teachers.

Under UPND, 45,000 teachers have been recruited—the single largest teacher recruitment drive in Zambia’s post-independence history. That is not “filling vacancies”; that is building a foundation for the future.

3. Infrastructure: Quality with Equity

PF lists thousands of schools, yet fails to disclose how many were completed, staffed, and functional. Quantity does not equal quality. Many were poorly planned, under-resourced, and left unfinished.

The UPND has taken a pragmatic approach—completing what was abandoned, building where the need is greatest, and ensuring functional education spaces, not just facades for ribbon-cutting.

4. Higher Education: Reviving Integrity and Access

PF’s record at universities was marred by unpaid lecturers, meal allowance cuts, and chronic strikes.
The UPND reinstated meal allowances and expanded access to students at all public universities. Salaries are now paid on time, and university infrastructure is being improved. We are not just expanding access; we are restoring dignity to learning.

5. School Feeding Programme: From Collapse to Coverage

PF’s reckless borrowing and financial mismanagement collapsed the school feeding programme. The UPND has revived and expanded it to all 116 districts, improving learning and nutrition outcomes for our children.

6. Education Quality and Curriculum

Under the UPND, the review of the national curriculum is underway to make it responsive to 21st-century skills, including digital literacy, climate change, financial education, and entrepreneurship. It is not enough to teach; we must teach what is relevant.

7. The PF’s Selective Amnesia

The PF claims credit for policy intentions that were never implemented. A long list of “plans” and “initiatives” does not substitute for delivery. What Zambia experienced under PF was:

• Bloated debt that crippled service delivery.
• Ghost schools and empty promises.
• Corruption in procurement, especially in the education sector.
• Youth unemployment and no clear path to skills development.

8. The Cost of Living Argument

PF’s narrative that free education is being “paid for through charcoal and fuel” is both misleading and desperate. The cost of living crisis is global, driven by climate shocks, supply chain disruptions, and economic shocks inherited from PF’s debt binge. What matters is this: despite constrained resources, the UPND is investing in human capital—a sure way out of poverty.

Conclusion

The PF should learn that governance is not just about building infrastructure. It is about building lives, expanding access, ensuring equity, and preparing a nation for the future.

Mr. Lifwekelo’s statement is not a rebuttal; it is a reflection of a party struggling to remain relevant by rewriting history and downplaying the suffering they caused. Zambians have not forgotten.

The UPND is building a system, not slogans. And unlike PF, we are not governing through press conferences but through results.

To our citizens: judge us not by opposition press statements, but by what you now experience in your communities—teachers in your schools, meals in your children’s hands, and zero school fees. That is real. That is progress.
