Museveni Warns Ugandan  Youth to Stop Wasting Time on European Football

President Yoweri Museveni has issued a strong message to Uganda’s young people, urging them to cut down the hours spent watching European football and instead invest that time in productive activities that build their future.

Museveni emphasized that while sports are good for entertainment, obsessing over foreign leagues contributes nothing to personal growth or national development.

He encouraged youth to redirect their energy toward education, skills, innovation, and income-generating ventures.

Brown Mogotsi alleges CIA links to KZN police chief and Zulu king at Madlanga Commission

Brown Mogotsi alleges CIA links to KZN police chief and Zulu king at Madlanga Commission

North West businessman Brown Mogotsi made explosive claims before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, alleging that KwaZulu‑Natal Police Commissioner Lt‑Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Zulu King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini were recruited and actively working for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Mogotsi, who says he has long worked as a “contact agent” for South Africa’s Crime Intelligence, told the commission that one of his sources claimed Mkhwanazi and the king were “activated” to protect Western strategic interests. He pointed to Mkhwanazi having received training in the U.S., and to the king’s time in the United States, as part of the basis for the allegation.

According to Mogotsi, their alleged CIA linkage was tied to economic interests particularly around coal exports via the Richards Bay port which he says raised concern among “Western or Israeli interests.” He claimed that Mkhwanazi deployed the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) to intimidate and harass members of the Zulu royal family, especially those aligned with Prince Simakade, acting on orders from these foreign interests.

Mogotsi admitted that his source did not provide direct evidence for the CIA claim, and under questioning by the commission said it was “hearsay upon hearsay.”

He also defended his own role, saying he posed as an SAPS infiltrator to gain Mkhwanazi’s trust, while in fact working under instructions from his crime intelligence handlers.

Mogotsi further alleged that the late former Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa shared suspicions about Mkhwanazi’s CIA ties. He said he met with Mthethwa a month before his death to raise his concerns.

The Madlanga Commission, established to investigate political interference, corruption, and leaks inside the criminal justice system, is now faced with these serious espionage-type claims, though some are based on unverified information.

US  Criticizes South Africa  for Expanding G20 Guest List

The United States has taken a swipe at South Africa’s decision to significantly expand the guest list for this year’s G20 Summit, saying the event has “basically become the G100.”

Washington argues that inviting too many non-member states could dilute the core purpose of the G20.

South Africa — hosting the summit in Johannesburg from 22–23 November — has confirmed 42 participants:
✔️ 20 G20 member states
✔️ 16 guest nations
✔️ 6 regional economic communities

Pretoria maintains that a broader lineup is necessary to create a more inclusive global conversation, especially amplifying voices from the Global South.

Speaking in the Oval Office alongside President Donald Trump, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US G20 presidency (from 1 December 2025) will feature a “much smaller” group of participants.

So far, 15 have arrived, with one already repatriated to Jamaica and plans under way to return the rest to their home countries.

ZANU PF SUCCESSION STORM!

ZANU PF SUCCESSION STORM!

ONLY CHIWENGA CAN SAVE ZIMBABWE, Political analyst Drops Bombshell Warning

ZANU PF has been thrown into an intense succession debate after long-time political analyst Chipo Musarurwa Siziba issued a dramatic public declaration arguing that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is the only logical and stabilising successor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Siziba insists that ZANU PF succession has never been about popularity contests or political celebrity, but about institutional logic, historical continuity and strategic alignment. And by those measures, she says, Chiwenga stands head and shoulders above the rest.

She argues that the former Defence Forces Commander a central architect of the 2017 transition possesses unmatched understanding of statecraft, security and governance, forged through roles as VP, Defence Chief and Health Minister.

Siziba warns that ignoring Chiwenga’s legacy risks destabilising the foundations of the Second Republic, leaving a dangerous power vacuum “open to opportunists and destabilizers.”

Chiwenga’s recent rejection of personality cult politics, she adds, shows a return to ZANU PF’s liberation values and ideological discipline a “strategic recalibration” in a factionalised political climate..

In a bold conclusion, Siziba declares: “Chiwenga is not just the logical leader, he is the necessary one. The future of ZANU PF, and Zimbabwe, depends on it.”

Saudi Pumping $1trillion into the USA, POTUS happy

“Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman pledges $1 trillion to the US during a lavish visit with President Trump, reigniting global outrage over Jamal Khashoggi’s murder and America’s selective morality. MBS is worth $36 billion personally, while UAE arms deals with the US top $1.2 billion annually.”

Washington, D.C. — The South Lawn of the White House looked like a scene from Aladdin meets Wall Street. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler and part-time global rehab patient, arrived to cannon salutes, warplane flyovers, and Trump’s trademark grin that says, “I smell money.”

The Prince pledged to pump $1 trillion into the US economy, a figure so large it could buy every moral compass in Washington and still leave change for a few drone strikes.

This is the same MBS whose name still echoes in the corridors of Istanbul’s Saudi consulate, where journalist Jamal Khashoggi was dismembered like a bad manuscript. But hey, money talks, bullshit walks, right?

Trump, ever the dealmaker, brushed off the bloodstains with a handshake and a photo-op. Human rights groups? They’re screaming into the void while sipping lukewarm coffee in Geneva. The US, once the self-appointed sheriff of global ethics, now moonlights as a concierge for petro-billionaires.

Meanwhile, Africa gets lectured on democracy and human rights while the UAE buys $1.2 billion in US missiles and drones. Nigeria gets sanctions; MBS gets steak and state dinners. Southern Africa gets scrutiny; Saudi Arabia gets Silicon Valley shares.

MBS himself is worth $36 billion, not counting the oil under his feet or the silence he buys. The hypocrisy is so thick you could bottle it and sell it as “Freedom™.”

America’s moral compass? It’s spinning like a Vegas roulette wheel. And guess who’s holding the chips.

Blood, laughter, and a trillion-dollar smirk. Welcome to diplomacy, 2025.—

TSVANGIRAI SECRETS EXPOSED! NEW BOOK LIFTS LID ON MDC BETRAYALS!”

A political bombshell is about to drop. Veteran communicator and former MDC-T presidential spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka has announced that he is putting the finishing touches on an explosive new book chronicling the untold political journey of the late Prime Minister Dr. Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.

Tamborinyoka promises a gripping, insider account of Tsvangirai’s years in government detailing his heroic service, personal sacrifices, and the deep frustrations he endured while dealing with ZANU PF hardliners and the towering influence of Robert Mugabe.

Sources say the book will reveal new and controversial details, including claims of spies and internal saboteurs within the then MDC-T, with names such as James Maridadi reportedly appearing in the pages. Tamborinyoka hints at fresh scandals involving former MDC-T vice presidents and behind-the-scenes power struggles never before made public.

Billed as “a must-read”, this explosive memoir is expected to shake Zimbabwe’s political landscape to its core.

GIVE ME BACK MY GADGETS!’ – MATLALA’S SHOCK DEMAND AHEAD OF BOMBSHELL TESTIMONY 

In a dramatic twist ahead of his highly anticipated appearance before Parliament’s ad-hoc committee, Cartel Kingpin Cat Matlala has issued an urgent demand: he wants all his gadgets returned his cellphone, laptop, iPad, and enough data to power through his preparations.

Matlala insists he cannot properly prepare his testimony without full access to his digital devices, which he claims contain crucial documents and communication records. Sources say he believes the information on these gadgets will be central to clearing his name and exposing “the real story” once he takes the stand.

With tensions rising and political stakes soaring, insiders predict that Matlala’s testimony could deliver explosive revelations. Now all eyes are on the committee: Will they return the devices in time, or risk derailing one of the most eagerly awaited hearings of the year?

MUSK: SUPERHUMAN ROBOTS WILL SOON BE YOUR DOCTOR!

Elon Musk has declared that his humanoid robot, Optimus, will spark a revolution in global healthcare giving every person on Earth access to world-class medical treatment, regardless of their wealth or location.

Musk claims the future will see “superhuman” precision robots carrying out operations that even elite surgeons struggle with today. From complex procedures to delicate microsurgery, he insists Optimus will be able to perform “any medical procedure even ones humans physically can’t do.”

According to Musk, money alone can’t fix the world’s medical inequality. “There are only so many great doctors. They don’t grow on trees,” he says. “You can’t buy more surgeons.”

But his solution? Build them. In factories. By the thousands.

Musk says this could finally answer the age old promise governments make but never achieve: ending medical poverty and giving everyone the best care on the planet delivered by robots.

Vice Admiral Lobese Explodes Over Plot to Hand Oceans to Foreign Company

South Africa’s top naval commander has unleashed an extraordinary broadside against what he calls “unpatriotic sellouts” in government who he says are quietly trying to weaken the country’s defences and open the door to foreign control of SA’s waters.

Vice Admiral Monde Lobese, Chief of the South African Navy, warned that certain officials are “turning a blind eye to maritime crime” and starving the Navy and SANDF of vital resources in a bid to justify bringing in outside forces.

He revealed that some departments have even attempted to invite a foreign company to patrol South Africa’s coastline — a move the Navy flatly rejected as “unpatriotic” and dangerous.

Lobese questioned whether those pushing for chronic underfunding are being influenced by drug cartels, smugglers, and human traffickers, accusing them of paving the way for the privatization of the nation’s defence.

If the Navy’s duties fall into private hands, he warned, taxpayers will ultimately foot the bill: “The same government claiming to have no money will suddenly find billions for private security.”

De Haas slams Mkhwanazi and Khumalo as “not credible” in Parliament

De Haas slams Mkhwanazi and Khumalo as “not credible” in Parliament

Prominent violence monitor and human rights academic Dr Mary de Haas has delivered hard-hitting testimony before a parliamentary ad hoc committee, sharply questioning the credibility of KwaZulu‑Natal Police Commissioner Lt‑General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Crime Intelligence head Lt‑General Dumisani Khumalo.

During her appearance, De Haas told MPs she “does not believe” Mkhwanazi is a credible police leader, and said Khumalo is “definitely not” credible.

Her criticisms come amid a sweeping inquiry into the now‑disbanded Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), which was tasked with investigating politically motivated murders. De Haas was among those who had long called for the unit’s disbandment, labeling it improperly constituted and mismanaged.

She accused the PKTT of abusing its powers citing reports from community members of warrantless phone seizures, emotional and physical mistreatment, and even evidence fabrication. Moreover, De Haas questioned Khumalo’s qualification to lead such a specialized investigative team, arguing he was not a trained detective despite his dual role in Crime Intelligence.

De Haas also raised the alarm about political interference, suggesting that too few senior detectives oversaw the PKTT, and that its operations extended outside its stated mandate.

In a separate strand of her testimony, De Haas accused Mkhwanazi of failing to act during the July 2021 unrest in KwaZulu‑Natal saying he was largely absent, with his phone off, when the province was “burning.”

Her refusal to name sources for her claims sparked frustration in the committee. De Haas defended her decision, saying she had given her contacts assurances of confidentiality due to fear for their safety.

Critics on the committee were not shy to push back. Some MPs described her testimony as “unreliable” and based on hearsay. And while she made serious allegations including that National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola may have committed perjury, she later retracted a few statements after being challenged.

De Haas’s testimony underscores mounting pressure on senior SAPS leadership at a time when tr

Gigaba expected to step aside after corruption charges

Gigaba expected to step aside after corruption charges

Former Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba is expected to step aside from African National Congress (ANC) duties after being formally charged with corruption linked to the controversial R54 billion Transnet locomotive procurement project.

Gigaba appeared briefly at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was confirmed as the fifth accused in the high-profile state capture-linked case. The matter has been postponed to 30 January 2026 for disclosure of the docket and the filing of a formal indictment.

The charges relate to three locomotive tenders 95, 100 and 1,064 units awarded between 2010 and 2014, deals that investigators say circumvented procurement rules and resulted in massive financial losses for the state-owned logistics entity.

The state alleges that Gigaba received undisclosed cash payments from members of the Gupta family during his tenure, acting in a corrupt relationship with the influential business network at the heart of the state capture scandal. The charges mirror allegations previously ventilated before the Zondo Commission, which recommended criminal prosecution.

Gigaba joins co-accused Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, Anoj Singh and Thamsanqa Jiyane, who were arrested earlier this year and released on bail. Gigaba was released on warning.

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula said the party expects Gigaba to comply with its step-aside rule, which bars charged members from participating in party activities.

“If Malusi is charged with corruption, he will have to step aside. He will do that voluntarily,” Mbalula said during a media briefing, adding that the party is awaiting formal correspondence from Gigaba.

The rule remains unclear on whether Gigaba will also be required to vacate his parliamentary seat.

In a statement, Gigaba’s lawyer Ian Levitt said his client intends to fight the charges.

“Our client maintains his innocence and will address the allegations through the court process,” Levitt said, noting that the defence has yet to receive supporting evidence from prosecutors.

The case marks a pivotal test of the ANC’s commitment to accountability as South Afr

“I could get killed”, Mary De Haas’s refusal to name sources roils Parliament

“I could get killed”, Mary De Haas’s refusal to name sources roils Parliament

Professor Mary de Haas refused to disclose confidential sources to Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.

De Haas, who has monitored political violence in KwaZulu-Natal for decades, warned she would rather withdraw from proceedings than betray her sources.

De Haas testified that multiple individuals had reported serious allegations against members of the PKTT, including warrantless searches, the confiscation of cellphones without court orders, and harassment of community members.

However, when pressed for the identities of those who provided the information, she drew a firm line.

“I live in a very violent province. I could get killed,” she said, adding that breaching confidentiality would compromise both her safety and professional ethics. She argued that investigators from the Madlanga Commission were better placed to handle such sensitive disclosures.

Her refusal triggered heated exchanges. MK Party MP Sibonelo Nomvalo accused her of undermining Parliament’s authority, saying she could not “pick and choose” what to reveal. EFF MP Leigh-Ann Mathys echoed the frustration, arguing that the committee could not act on allegations without knowing the sources behind them.

Attempts at compromise including a proposal for a closed, in-camera submission were rejected by De Haas. She did, however, receive support from DA MP Glennys Breytenbach, who argued that forcing her to name sources would destroy her ability to continue monitoring political violence.

De Haas’s stance reflects her history of advocacy in a high-risk environment. She has previously accused Police Minister Bheki Cele of endangering her safety and has been an outspoken supporter of whistleblowers facing intimidation.

The clash has sharpened debate about how parliamentary oversight can function in cases involving vulnerable informants. With the committee set to continue its work, questions remain over whether accountability and source protection can coexist in the inquiry’s next steps.

SA Authorities declare full security readiness ahead of G20 Summit

Authorities declare full security readiness ahead of G20 Summit

South African authorities have confirmed full readiness for the upcoming G20 Leaders’ Summit, warning that anyone attempting to breach security measures will face the “full might of the law.”

The summit, taking place for the first time on African soil, will be held at the Nasrec Expo Centre from Friday, 21 November, to Monday, 24 November.

The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) said a comprehensive five-pillar security strategy is in place, including intelligence gathering, high-visibility policing, combat-ready response with support from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), reactive case management, and public awareness campaigns.

A strict lockdown around the venue will restrict access to accredited individuals, with all vehicles subject to thorough inspection.

Authorities have also announced major traffic disruptions along the N1, N12, R21, N3, R24, and M1 highways during convoy movements, as well as a no-fly zone for unauthorized aircraft. Residents and visitors are urged to follow official guidance and cooperate with law enforcement.

South Africa assumed the G20 Presidency in December 2024, under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.” The summit aims to highlight Africa’s development priorities, including debt sustainability and climate finance, at the centre of global economic discussions.

Officials say the event will leverage lessons from previous large-scale operations, such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, to ensure a safe and secure summit.

GIVEN LUBINDA’s APPOINTMENTS TO PF CENTRAL COMMITTEE NULL AND VOID – DAVIES MWILA.

………..says the acting President breached the party constitution and internal Rules

Lusaka……….November 19, 2025 (Smart Eagles)

Former Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila says PF Acting President Given Lubinda breached the Party Constitution when he made appointments to the Central Committee.

Recently, Hon Lubinda announced the appointments of Fellow Presidential Candidates Hon Chanda Katotobwe and Dr Chitalu Chilufya.

Speaking at a Media Briefing today, Hon Mwila said any Central Committee appointments must first be approved by the National Executive Committee and subsequently ratified by the Central Committee itself.

He said these procedures were not followed thereby breaching the party constitution and internal rules.

Hon Mwila said all candidates vying for the party presidency should relinquish their current positions to ensure a fair process as the Party heads to the General Conference.

“Members of the party you are aware that the party is going to the General Conference next week to elect a leader who will take us to the General Election.

I wish to state that , the appointments are illegal because the appointment of any member of the Central Committee has to go through the National Executive Committee as well as the Central Committee for Ratification. Since all those stages were not followed, the party Constitution and our own rules have been abrogated,” he said.

He has since urged the PF National Chairman Hon Musonda Mpankata to take charge because the Constitution empowers him to preside over party affairs in the run up to the general conference.

“Hon Mwila expects that the national chairman will chair the meeting on Saturday. We expect all the candidates vying for the President position to relinquish their positions since they are all candidates.

We expect order, there must be order in the party as we go to the general conference. We expect our party members to maintain order and remain calm as we head to the general conference,” he said.

VIOLENCE WILL COST US ELECTIONS, WORRIES UPND AS HRC CONDEMNS PF SECRETARIAT INCIDENT

UPND National Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso says sentiments made by party officials triggered the violence which was witnessed at the PF secretariat on Saturday.

He has condemned the incident, saying violence will make the party lose next year’s election. Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission has condemned the violence which occurred at the PF secretariat and called for swift investigations.

Speaking on Hot FM, Monday, Liswaniso said it was the responsibility of leaders to maintain the peace and unity that the country had so far enjoyed.

“For the past one week, we have seen a lot of statements coming from our leaders. So when it goes down to the young people, some will want to show that ‘it’s us’.

CLERGY PRAISES MAKEBI ZULU’S LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AHEAD OF PF CONVENTION

….Makebi Zulu’s humility, integrity and consistent message of unity set him apart from other contenders

Chipata… Wednesday November 18, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)

Pastor Franklin Ng’ambi of Chipata City has urged members of the Patriotic Front (PF) to rally behind party presidential hopeful Makebi Zulu, describing him as a “youthful, focused and transformative leader” who embodies the values needed to reposition the party and contribute to national development.

With the PF preparing for its much-anticipated convention to elect new leadership, Pastor Ng’ambi said Mr Zulu’s humility, integrity and consistent message of unity set him apart from other contenders.

Speaking in an interview, Pastor Ng’ambi said he was particularly moved by Mr. Zulu’s speech during the filing of his nomination papers, noting that the aspiring president demonstrated a clear vision for both the party and the country.

“Going by his speech during the filing in of his nominations, Makebi Zulu has shown that he has the capacity to transform this country. He is focused on development, and that is the kind of leadership Zambia needs at this critical time,” Pastor Ng’ambi said.

He added that Mr. Zulu represented a new generation of leaders who combine energy with experience, making him well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to national progress.

“We need such youthful leaders to take over the leadership of the country. The humility, integrity and unity he has demonstrated are qualities that should never be ignored. The PF should utilize Makebi Zulu – he is a big asset to the country,” he said.

Pastor Ng’ambi urged PF delegates heading to the convention to choose leaders who will rebuild the party’s strength, reconnect with grassroots supporters, and offer credible alternatives for national development.

Pumulo has urged SADC to take action.

RE: DEMOCRACY, FREE & FAIR ELECTIONS OF 2026 THREATENED IN THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA

Your Excellency,

I write to you as the Founder of the New Era Democratic Party (NED), a legally registered opposition political party in the Republic of Zambia. I would like to my express grave concern over the deteriorating political environment and its implications for democratic governance and the upcoming 2026 General Elections. This letter also serves to validate and reaffirm the concerns raised by the Patriotic Front (PF) in their recent correspondence to your office

This correspondence is additionally addressed to:
• His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa, Chairperson of SADC
• His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation

1. BACKGROUND

Several reputable international bodies, including the United Nations Human Rights Council and the United States Human Rights Country Report, have documented serious and escalating governance concerns in Zambia, characterized by:

• Shrinking democratic and civic space
• Political intolerance and use of state institutions to persecute critics
• Suppression of freedoms of assembly, association, expression, and the media
• Decline in the rule of law and judicial independence

Zambia is scheduled to hold Presidential, Parliamentary, Mayoral, Council Chairperson, and Local Government Elections in August 2026. Under the current circumstances, these elections are at serious risk of failing to meet the standards of free, fair, credible, and democratic processes unless urgent corrective measures are implemented.

2. KEY CONCERNS

The New Era Democratic Party wishes to highlight the following issues:

1. Registrar of Societies Interference in NED Affairs

• Unlawful removal of the founding President from official party records, despite NED being newly established in October 2023
• Replacement with Ms. Exildah Mwenya in July 2024
• Pattern consistent with interference previously reported against PF and DP parties

2. Weaponization of Law Enforcement

Systematic targeting of opposition leaders, journalists, and civil society through arbitrary arrests, prolonged detentions without due process, and broad state intimidation.

3. Dictatorship Legislation

• The Cyber Security and Crimes Act (March 2025)—passed secretly—is widely viewed as a tool for suppressing dissent and monitoring government critics
• The controversial Bill No. 7, reportedly adapted from Uganda, proposes provisions that consolidate ruling party power, including:
– Addition of 100 Members of Parliament
– Extension of the Presidential term to 7 years
– Other structural changes expected to be passed before 2026

4. Politicization of Public Service

Removal of qualified professionals and appointment of individuals based on partisan and regional interests.

5. Compromised Independence of the ECZ

Partisan-aligned appointments to the Electoral Commission of Zambia have severely eroded public confidence.

6. Interference in Opposition Parties

Alleged creation and support of parallel leadership structures to destabilize legitimate opposition organizations.

7. Violent Attacks on Opposition Offices

Notably the raid on the former ruling party Secretariat at Lumumba/Panganani Road in Lusaka—reportedly involving state security agencies and ruling party cadres—with no arrests or accountability.

8. Manipulated Constitutional Reform Process

A process rejected by LAZ, civil society organizations, and Church bodies, widely seen as engineered to influence the 2026 election outcome

9. Detention of Opposition Leaders

Including Hon. Raphael Nakacinda, sentenced to 18 months for a speech offence, and many others denied bail pending appeal.

10. Suppression of Political Gatherings

Ongoing bans and disruptions of opposition gatherings under the pretext of “security concerns,” enforced through the Public Order Act despite government commitments to repeal it.

These actions violate the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections, which uphold democracy, human rights, multiparty competition, transparency, and the rule of law.

3. REQUEST FOR SADC INTERVENTION

In the interest of preserving regional stability, democratic order, and peace, the New Era Democratic Party respectfully urges SADC to:

• Dispatch an Early Intervention and Fact-Finding Mission to assess Zambia’s readiness for credible 2026 elections
• Engage the Government of Zambia through preventive diplomacy, urging compliance with regional democratic norms
• Facilitate an inclusive national dialogue involving government, opposition parties, and civil society to restore public confidence in electoral processes

We remain fully prepared to provide verifiable documentation and additional evidence to support all matters raised in this letter.

4. CONCLUSION

Your Excellency,
Zambia has long been a beacon of peace and stability in the SADC region. However, unless immediate steps are taken to reverse the current trajectory, the nation faces escalating risks to electoral integrity, democratic governance, and social cohesion.

We therefore respectfully call on SADC to act in accordance with its mandate under:
• The SADC Treaty (1992)
• The Protocol on Politics, Defence, and Security Cooperation
• The SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections

to uphold democratic order and prevent further deterioration ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

Yours faithfully,

ZAMBIA SET TO DRIVE AFRICA’S FUTURE GROWTH – WORLD BANK

ZAMBIA SET TO DRIVE AFRICA’S FUTURE GROWTH – WORLD BANK

WORLD Bank managing director of operations, Anna Bjerde, has described Zambia and Kenya as the epicentres of Africa’s next wave of opportunity, driven by investments in agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, and regional connectivity.

Speaking after her recent visit to Zambia and Kenya, Ms Bjerde said she witnessed a growing spirit of innovation and collaboration among communities and businesses determined to unlock jobs and inclusive growth across the continent.

“In Zambia and Kenya, I saw two countries daring to imagine what investments in agribusiness, better infrastructure, reliable and affordable energy, and stronger regional connectivity could unlock, starting with more and better jobs for all,” she said.

It was Ms Bjerde’s first visit to Zambia, and she noted that while the country faces economic challenges, there is visible potential across sectors to transform livelihoods.

“What stayed with me were the conversations, all circling around the same question: how to create enough jobs for everyone,” she said.

“From farmers pooling milk to reach bigger markets, to young people harnessing AI for digital work, each story pointed to the same truth-both Zambia and Kenya have a growing labour force that needs more opportunities.”

Ms Bjerde highlighted the role of agribusiness and cooperatives as key engines of rural development.

Tanzanian president claims election violence risks cutting off international funding

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has stated that the country’s brutal election unrest could jeopardize the international financing that has long sustained its development agenda.

During a speech on Tuesday, she cautioned that donor confidence may dwindle in the aftermath of the country’s deadliest electoral crisis.

“We have to look for funds internally using our God-given resources,” President Samia Suluhu Hassan said, urging her newly announced cabinet to rethink how the government pays for major projects.

Her comments follow the October 29 elections, a vote marred by widespread anger after candidates from the two main opposition parties were blocked from the presidential race.

Three days of fierce demonstrations took place across the country. Opposition leaders claim that more than 2,000 people were killed, while hundreds of others were rounded up and charged with treason. Hassan ultimately won with more than 97 percent of the vote, a result that deepened public backlash.

As the unrest spread, youth protesters torched vehicles and vandalized polling areas, police stations, and bus terminals. The military was deployed to contain the mayhem. The president later ordered that some of the young people arrested during the clashes be freed.

“During our first term we mostly relied on international funding, but what happened here may reduce our access to loans compared to how we were accessing funds during our first term,” she said, noting that the violence had likely shaken donors.

This week, Hassan unveiled her new cabinet lineup, which includes her daughter and son-in-law, AP reported. She called on ministers to locate domestic sources of revenue at a time when foreign support may tighten.

In her first address to Parliament since the disputed election, Hassan announced the formation of an inquiry commission that will investigate the turmoil and guide national reconciliation. The move comes after U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk urged Tanzanian officials to probe the deaths and examine reports that evidence had been suppressed.

The president also spoke about the young Tanzanians caught up in the protests, stressing that compassion should be shown to those who were swept along by peer pressure. “For those who were just following the wave, let them be counselled and released,” she said, adding that “as a mother,” she believed in forgiveness.

Chadema, the country’s most prominent opposition party, continues to demand deep political reforms and insists that the reconciliation process must include constitutional changes. Hassan responded that her administration would launch a constitutional review within its first 100 days.

Chadema had called for electoral reforms well before the election and was blocked from participating after insisting on change. Its leader, Tundu Lissu, remains in prison on treason charges, with his trial yet to resume after the chaos. The party’s deputy leader, John Heche, was arrested on election day and released three weeks later.

Akon asks for joint custody of 17-year-old daughter in divorce case with estranged wife

Senegalse-American singer Akon has made a court filing in his divorce case with his estranged wife Tomeka Thiam, and it involves their 17-year-old daughter, Journey.

As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Thiam, in September, filed for divorce from Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Badara Thiam, just four days into what would have been their 29th wedding anniversary.

Akon, 52, recently responded to Thiam’s divorce filing, and he’s asking the court to grant him joint legal and physical custody of their daughter Journey, PEOPLE reported. Besides that, the Don’t Matter singer also wants the court to fully deny his estranged wife spousal support.

Thiam filed for divorce from the musician on September 11, citing irreconcilable differences, according to the filing cited by PEOPLE. She said they shared one child, 17-year-old daughter Journey, and listed their date of separation as “TBD.”

Thiam is seeking joint legal custody and sole physical custody of Journey, per the outlet. She is also seeking spousal support from the Lonely singer and has asked the court not to award him any spousal support.

Akon has said in the past that he believes in polygamy, adding that he has nine children.

“[Polygamy is] part of our culture. Absolutely,” Akon said in a 2022 interview on The Zeze Mills Show. “For me, it looks normal, because it’s culture for us. We didn’t go outside of our African culture when we got to the Western world. See, the flaw that the Western world made is they created all these rules without putting nature into account.”

He stressed that he was “there for” all of his children, and that he believed it was his job “to raise my kids to be responsible, to be understanding” and to “protect their mother.”

“My job ain’t to be doing all that extra stuff and these holidays and recitals. While I’m taking care of my responsibility to make sure the family has a roof over their head and food, if I have the time to do that and show love, yes, I will do that,” he said. “Communication allows me to be there every day. That’s what my FaceTime phone is for.”

I do not want  Regina Daniels back in my house- Senator Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko has come out to say that he doesn’t want his estranged 6th wife, Regina Daniels, back in his house. According to him, all he wants is for her to return to the Rehab to seek medical treatment. Nwoko claims Regina has been abusing hard drugs for a while now and that his insistence on her going to rehab to get medical help has been the bane of the marital crisis they are both experiencing now.

In a letter written via his communication team and shared on his social media handle this morning, Nwoko denied claims that he has been chatting with Regina on Whatsapp since they fell out. He said Regina turned for the worst within the last eight months and that within these period, she made friends with people like Phyna and others who he claimed joined her in abusing drugs.

He described Regina’s claim of him being the one who introduced her to drugs so as to boost her s#xual prowess as a ‘’figment of her imagination and can never be substantiated”.

He mentioned that the focus should be for Regina to seek rehabilitation so she can be alive for their two sons.

White House blames reporter after Trump calls her ‘piggy’

The White House blamed Bloomberg News correspondent Catherine Lucey after President Donald Trump referred to her as “piggy.”

On Friday, Lucey had asked Trump about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal during a gaggle aboard Air Force One.

The reporter wondered why the president was defensive, “if there’s nothing incriminating in the files.”

“Quiet. Quiet, piggy,” Trump snapped.

Without providing evidence, an unnamed White House official later told The Guardian that Lucey was to blame.

“This reporter behaved in an inappropriate and unprofessional way towards her colleagues on the plane,” the official said. “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take.”

What Barron Trump really said to Joe Biden at Donald’s inauguration finally revealed

Barron Trump’s older brother Eric has revealed what he said to Joe Biden during their father’s inauguration.

It feels like a very long time since 20 January and the second Trump inauguration, a ceremony which had a lot of rich and powerful people in attendance for the official handover of power.

Also, Elon Musk was accused of giving a ‘Nazi salute’ as he twice made a gesture to the crowd where he extended his right arm upwards, though he insists it wasn’t that and hit out at ‘dirty tricks’ being used against him.

Another moment people spotted was when the youngest of Trump’s children, Barron, went over and spoke to outgoing US President Joe Biden, with what they said to each other being a matter of speculation.

A lip reader said that the younger Trump had said ‘g’day to you sir’ to Biden and then ‘ma’am, good day’ to Vice President Kamala Harris, who had lost the 2024 election.

Jeremy Freeman said that Biden had responded with ‘it’s good to see you man’, to which he reckons Barron said ‘exactly’.

More light has been shed on what was said by Eric Trump, who appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show to say that he called his younger brother afterwards and asked him about that moment.

He said: “One night I call Barron and I go ‘Buddy, what did you actually say?’ And it was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right.

“But like, ‘Congratulations, and best of luck to you,’ or something like that. Something very respectable.”

He then remembered being on another show where he’d been asked whether Barron had told Biden to ‘go f himself’, with Eric saying his younger brother ‘just doesn’t have that in him’ but was ‘probably thinking it’ even if he was ‘too courteous to actually go out there and say it’.

Meanwhile, as for what their father is up to, he’s been facing new allegations from more of the released Epstein files, which contain emails that claim Trump knew about the girls.

Emails which date back to 2011 appear to show Epstein telling Ghislaine Maxwell that Trump had ‘spent hours’ with a victim whose name was redacted.

Trump has consistently denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes during his friendship with the convicted sex offender who died in 2019, with the new round of emails not proving any wrongdoing on his part. He also didn’t send or receive any of the emails.

He responded to the release of the emails, accusing the Democrats of using the ‘Epstein hoax’ to distract from ‘all of their bad policies and losses’.

In a U-turn from his previous position, Trump has now encouraged the release of the Epstein files, telling Republicans they should vote for more disclosure as ‘we have nothing to hide’.

Cameroon opposition candidate declares self president-elect

Cameroon’s opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has declared himself President-elect following the disputed October presidential election.

Tchiroma Bakary has also announced the appointment of a prominent lawyer and civil society advocate, Maître Alice Nkom, as his official spokesperson.

In a statement released on Monday, Nov. 17, via his verified social media handle, Tchiroma issued a decree under the title “President-Elect of the Republic” designating Nkom to speak on his behalf.

“Alice Nkom, a lawyer at the Bar of Cameroon, a defender of fundamental freedoms and a prominent figure of civil society, is appointed as the Official Spokesperson for the President-Elect of the Republic of Cameroon,” the decree read.

According to the announcement, Nkom is authorised to represent Tchiroma’s positions in institutional, diplomatic and media exchanges, and to coordinate communication for the Presidency-Elect. He added that the appointment was with immediate effect and will be communicated to national and international partners through appropriate channels.

Tchiroma justified the move by citing what he described as “institutional hostage-taking” that hinders the free expression of the people’s will, insisting that his declaration reflects the sovereign choice of Cameroonians in the October 12 poll.

Nkom, widely respected for her human rights advocacy and defence of civil liberties, is expected to give greater visibility to Tchiroma’s camp as Cameroon grapples with heightened political tensions following President Paul Biya’s swearing-in for another term.

Meanwhile, the Cameroon News Agency reported that she has welcomed her appointment in a Facebook post, quoting her as saying, “Today, a new page opens for our country. The President-elect, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has called upon me to assume the responsibility of spokesperson for the President-elect’s Office.

“I have accepted with respect, with seriousness, and with a profound sense of duty. This mission is not that of one woman alone. It belongs to the Cameroonian people, to their sovereign will, to their desire to take control of their destiny.

“I commit to: faithfully carrying the voice of the President-elect, sharing his vision with clarity, defending the truth with consistency, serving every Cameroonian man and woman with loyalty.

“It is with humility and determination that I take part in this decisive stage, to accompany the change that the people expect and deserve. The voice of the President-elect will be strong. My word will be clear.

“The truth will be non-negotiable. And Cameroon enters an era of courage, responsibility, and transparency.”

Elon Musk slams singer Billie Eilish after she called him out for hoarding wealth

Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk and pop star Billie Eilish have erupted into a public feud after the singer launched a stinging criticism of him on social media, prompting a sharp response from the Tesla boss.

The clash began when Eilish shared a series of posts on Instagram last week, accusing Musk of hoarding wealth and failing to address global crises despite his vast fortune. Her remarks followed reports that a new Tesla compensation package could make Musk the world’s first trillionaire.

In her posts, the Grammy winner suggested Musk could use his resources to combat hunger, protect endangered wildlife, or help rebuild war-torn regions, but instead chose not to.

Musk fired back on X, reacting to a screenshot of Eilish’s criticism with a one-line jab, writing: “She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.”

Eilish has increasingly used public platforms to condemn extreme wealth accumulation. At the WSJ Innovator Awards last month, an event attended by some of the world’s richest figures, including Mark Zuckerberg, she questioned why billionaires exist at all, noting that no one should hold that much money. The 22-year-old recently pledged more than $11 million from her ongoing tour to climate-related and humanitarian causes.

Trump calls reporter a ‘pig’ following question on Epstein file

President Donald Trump sparked backlash after telling a female reporter “quiet, piggy” during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One. The exchange happened when the journalist tried to question him about the status of the Jeffrey Epstein files, prompting Trump to cut her off and gesture toward another reporter while repeating the insult.

Lawmakers and commentators from both major parties criticized the remark as unprofessional, with groups like Occupy Democrats saying it reflected poorly on someone holding the presidency.

This is not the first time Trump has clashed with female reporters, he previously told one to “keep her voice down” during a White House briefing in 2020.

The confrontation comes as pressure builds on the administration to release Epstein-related documents. The House is set to vote on legislation requiring the Justice Department to make the files public, and Trump has said he would sign the bill if it reaches his desk.

The documents have drawn renewed attention after a congressional committee released thousands of pages showing Epstein’s network of contacts, which included global figures and Trump himself. Trump insists he distanced himself from Epstein long before the financier’s legal troubles.

If Congress approves the bill, the DOJ would have 30 days to publish the material in a searchable format. Certain details involving victims or ongoing investigations could be redacted, but the law would forbid hiding information simply because it might cause “embarrassment” or “reputational harm.”

Trump’s “piggy” comment fits into a long pattern of gendered insults he has used in the past, including calling Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig” and Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado “Miss Piggy.” Machado has described how Trump mocked her appearance during his time co-owning the pageant.

In recent days Trump has publicly shifted how he talks about the files, at first labeling the issue a “Democrat hoax” on Truth Social but later saying he supports full release: “We have nothing to hide.”

Reporters have continued pressing him for specifics, and he has grown increasingly combative, accusing journalists of peddling “fake news” when questioned about transparency or other controversies.

The identity of the reporter he insulted on Air Force One has not been officially confirmed.

Pep Guardiola accuses Israel of ‘massacres’ in Gaza

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has publicly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, saying the world has ‘abandoned’ Palestinians.

The Spanish manager delivered his verdict while speaking on Spanish radio on Monday.

‘Every time I imagine what is happening to the people of Palestine, it’s that the whole world has left them alone,’ the 54-year-old told RAC1 radio.

‘But I imagine the people there waiting for us to lift a finger, to do something, and that no one has done anything at all. They are not to blame for being born in Palestine. The boys or girls, fathers or mothers, or grandmothers and grandfathers born there.

‘There, for a very long time now, we have allowed the destruction of an entire people. Because they say, “don’t say genocide”, I wonder what it is then. The people who live there, we’ve abandoned them.

‘I can’t imagine a person in this world who could defend this. I can’t wrap my head around it. I know Jewish people, we all do, we know people from Israel. I haven’t met anyone who would defend it, the images we see.

‘And the way the world is set up, be it [Benjamin] Netanyahu, [Donald] Trump, [Volodymyr] Zelensky, Trump again, [Vladimir] Putin, whoever it is, because it’s not about siding with who is right. It’s that they see the images, and our children could be there.

‘I have little faith. Given how the world has been in recent years, there has always been little faith in regular leaders. I believe leaders do intend to do things well, to fix things so people can live better.

‘I am absolutely taking the side of Palestine, the innocent people who are murdered daily, because the man drawing this up decides what he decides. Because if he is not capable of solving it through a ceasefire, gesture, the symbolism you mentioned, and only through force. One has extremely powerful weapons and the other does not, then you tell me.’

Guardiola was speaking ahead of Tuesday’s ACT x Palestine charity friendly between Catalonia and Palestine at the Lluis Companys Stadium in Barcelona.

More than 25,000 tickets have been sold for the match with all proceedings going towards funding humanitarian aid and reconstruction in Gaza.

Around 70,000 Palestinians have been killed since the October 7 attacks of 2023, according to numbers from the Gaza Health Ministry.

‘It’s more than just a symbolic match,’ the former Barcelona boss said of the charity game this week.

‘These days, everyone knows everything and with this game, the Palestinians will see that there’s a part of the world that cares about them.’
