Prophet Magaya To Stay In Jail As Court Refuses Both Bail And Release

Prophet Magaya To Stay In Jail As Magistrate Refuses To Entertain Bail
Prominent preacher Prophet Walter Magaya will remain in custody after a Harare magistrate refused to entertain his bail application, ruling that the court had no jurisdiction to hear the matter. The decision comes amid mounting legal troubles for the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder, who faces 13 counts of fraud and five rape charges.

Bail Application Dismissed In Lower Court
Harare regional magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa dismissed Magaya’s application on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, saying her court could not legally process bail for the rape cases. She advised Magaya to approach the High Court for relief.

“The court has no jurisdiction to entertain the bail application on rape charges,” Magistrate Gofa said.
“The accused will be remanded in custody to November 13.”

The decision halted the preacher’s immediate bid for release. A separate bail hearing for his wife, Tendai Magaya, who was arrested alongside him, continued in the same court.

Magaya’s Lawyers Argue Over-Detention
Magaya’s legal team, led by Admire Rubaya, Advocate Sylvester Hashiti, and Everson Chatambudza, had also mounted an application for his immediate release, arguing that he and his wife had been detained beyond the constitutionally required 48 hours.

They claimed that the couple was arrested early on Saturday, 1 November 2025, and should have been released by 5 a.m. on Monday, yet remained in custody until Tuesday morning.

“Our clients were arrested during a dawn raid at 5 a.m. and held well beyond the 48-hour limit allowed by law,” argued Rubaya.
“They should have been released unconditionally.”

However, Prosecutor Clement Chimbare opposed the argument, insisting that while the Constitution provides remedies for unlawful detention, it does not automatically invalidate criminal charges.

“The law allows accused persons to approach the Constitutional Court for damages or compensation whenever they feel their rights have been violated,” said Chimbare. “It does not absolve them of alleged wrongdoing.”

Magistrate Gofa sided with the State, ruling that the over-detention argument did not justify the couple’s release at this stage. The ruling meant Magaya would remain behind bars until the High Court hears his bail application.

Fraud And Rape Allegations Unfold
As reported by H-Metro, Magaya’s legal woes stem from a multi-million-dollar housing project that prosecutors say defrauded PHD congregants and members of the public. The State alleges that from 2016 onwards, Magaya and his wife misled investors through their companies — Planet Africa (Pvt) Ltd and Yadah Connect — claiming ownership of various plots of land in areas such as Chishawasha, Norton, Westgate, Ruwa and Mutare.

Prosecutor Clement Chimbare told the court that Magaya allegedly misrepresented himself as the owner of New Donnington Farm in Norton, which in fact belongs to former Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Gono.

The State alleges that investors and congregants lost a combined total of approximately US$49,000 (R920,000) and R195,000 in payments for housing projects that never materialised.

Prosecutors also confirmed that the five rape charges will be handled separately and in camera due to their nature, with journalists ordered out of the courtroom during discussions.

Next Steps In The Legal Process
Following Tuesday’s ruling, Magistrate Gofa directed Magaya to take his bail plea to the High Court, a process expected to be lengthier and more complex. She remanded the 41-year-old clergyman in custody until 13 November 2025.

His co-accused, including his wife Tendai and company representative Tatenda Chinguwo, remain in custody pending further proceedings.

VIDEO: Eubert Angel defends Walter Magaya on rape accusations

Zimbabwe is witnessing heated debate over rape allegations against self-proclaimed prophet Walter Magaya. The accusations have triggered intense public reactions and widespread media coverage. Many Zimbabweans are closely following this high-profile case. Meanwhile, social media remains flooded with speculation and divided opinions.

Some supporters stand firmly behind Magaya. Others demand justice and accountability. The case has revived old headlines and reignited discussions about religious power. Every update attracts national attention. The situation continues to unfold, raising questions about faith, trust, and authority in religious spaces across Zimbabwe.

Eubert Angel defends Walter Magaya on rape accusations

Fellow self-proclaimed prophet Eubert Angel recently entered the conversation. He strongly rejected claims against Magaya. Angel argued that the rape accusations do not make sense in his view. He suggested that someone who discusses condom use cannot later claim rape. His comments sparked fierce criticism and equally fiery support online. Angel insisted that Magaya is innocent until proven guilty.

He urged Zimbabweans to avoid rushing to judgement. This situation recalls the earlier case of Robert Martin Gumbura. Gumbura, once a powerful church leader, eventually faced conviction for sexual abuse. That scandal shook the nation and raised difficult questions. Angel emphasised that Magaya’s case is different. Yet some Zimbabweans fear history could repeat itself. Others believe faith leaders deserve a fair hearing. The debate continues, with emotions running high. Courts and law enforcement remain central as the truth is determined.

Dangers of religion
Zimbabweans must approach religious leadership with open minds and critical thinking. Economic hardship increases vulnerability to manipulation. Some leaders may exploit desperate congregants for power or benefit. Blind loyalty can expose believers to emotional or financial abuse.

Followers should question teachings and protect their dignity. Faith must never replace personal judgement. Communities thrive when leaders act with integrity. Responsible worship includes accountability and awareness. Religion can inspire hope and strength. Yet unchecked authority creates danger. Zimbabweans must stay vigilant and demand transparency from those claiming spiritual power.

Your son d!ed in the UK due to excessive intake of drugs – Regina Daniels brother continues calling out sister’s estranged husband Ned Nwoko

The ongoing feud between Regina Daniels’ family and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has intensified as the actress’s brother, Sweezy, made fresh allegations against the politician in a new social media post.

In an Instagram Story he shared, Sweezy accused Ned Nwoko of hypocrisy, claiming that Nwoko’s late son had died in the United Kingdom due to excessive drug use, yet the matter was kept away from the public.

He wrote:

“Accusing my siblings of drugs. What killed your son in the UK? Died of heart failure and seizure due to excessive intake of drugs!!! Yet nobody heard shit. You better bring down all this nonsense because the media will hear more than what they shouldn’t hear! You stand on integrity abi?”

The outburst follows earlier claims by Sweezy and his mother, Rita Daniels, who accused Nwoko of ordering his arrest and attempting to intimidate their family.

In a separate video, Rita Daniels was seen expressing anger over the alleged incident, saying her daughter once supported Nwoko’s senatorial campaign with $50,000, accusing him of betrayal and pride. read here

South African Influencer Exposes the Dark Side of Slay Queen Lifestyle

Inno Morolong Reveals the Dark Side of Slay Queen Lifestyle

Influencer Inno Morolong is peeling back the layers of glamour to expose the realities of being a slay queen.

The outspoken media personality features in the new Showmax documentary Slay Queens, which premiered on October 31, offering viewers an unfiltered look at her journey from humble beginnings to social media fame.

“People Always Assume the Worst”
According to Fakaza, Inno Morolong says the documentary gave her a chance to tell her story in her own words — and correct long-held misconceptions about her.

“I hardly open up, but this show made me open up about many things. I’m always misunderstood. People always assume the worst, but this documentary made me show my other side—from humble beginnings to where I am now,” she shared.

She added that she hopes her story inspires young women, especially those from small towns, to believe that their dreams are achievable.

“If I can make it, they can also make it,” she said confidently.

“It’s Not Easy Being a Slay Queen”
While many associate the term slay queen with glamour, fame, and luxury, Morolong revealed that behind the designer outfits and Instagram filters lies a harsh truth.

“It is not easy being a slay queen. It takes a lot of money and time to maintain that high-standard look,” she admitted.

She added that many women struggle to keep up with the image society expects.

“Some girls fall into debt or end up stranded in foreign countries; others even face abuse or depression but hide it behind the flashy lifestyle.”

Fighting to Stay Relevant
As a single mother and entrepreneur, Morolong says she has had to fight for every opportunity in a competitive entertainment industry.

“In life, it’s important to be patient; good things come to those who wait. With hard work and dedication, you can achieve almost everything. It’s also important to believe in God and put Him first in everything you do,” she said.

Redefining What It Means to Be a Slay Queen
Despite criticism and stereotypes surrounding the label, Morolong insists that being a slay queen isn’t synonymous with immorality.

“People think slay queens are high-class escorts or something like that. Even a hardworking woman like Beyoncé can look and be labelled a slay queen, but she’s also a wife and a mother. Some women just love to glam up and look good, and that doesn’t make them bad people,” she explained.

She also opened up about the dynamics between men and women in this world, saying:

“Men are naturally providers. When they feel like flashing money, they always want to be seen with women who look like slay queens. Most men do pay women to always look a certain way so they can shine.”

More Than Just Glitz and Glam
Through Slay Queens, Morolong hopes to change perceptions and spark conversations about women, ambition, and authenticity in the age of social media.

“This documentary made me show my true self. Behind the makeup and heels is a woman who’s worked hard to be where she is,” she said.

Court Hears How Walter Magaya Used Former Governor Gideon Gono’s Farm To Defraud Congregants

Details of how the controversial founder of PHD Ministries, Walter Magaya used former RBZ governor Gideon Gono’s farm to defraud his congregants were heard in court. The cleric, alongside his wife Tendai, faces a staggering total of eighteen criminal charges, comprising thirteen counts of fraud and five counts of rape.

The atmosphere in the Harare courtroom was tense as prosecutors made an immediate application to have the sensitive rape cases heard in private, leading to the expulsion of journalists from the proceedings.

The fraud allegations paint a picture of an elaborate scheme targeting the faithful. The State contends that the prophet, in concert with his wife and their companies Planet Africa (Pvt) Ltd and Yadah Connect, systematically deceived congregants and other investors. The court heard how individuals were persuaded to part with their money for residential stands and various projects on land that the prophet falsely claimed to own.

Walter Magaya Used Former Governor Gideon Gono’s Farm To Defraud Congregants
Central to the fraud case is the alleged misrepresentation of a farm owned by former Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Gono. Prosecutors outlined how Prophet Magaya secured a limited farming contract for a single season at Dr Gono’s New Donnington Farm. He then allegedly orchestrated a tour of the property for investors, presenting himself as the outright owner.

“He allegedly misrepresented that he was the owner of the farm and the farm was ready for the allocation of residential stands,” court documents state.

The State further claims his wife, Tendai, who was present during the negotiations with Dr Gono, remained silent during this deception, failing to correct the false impression given to the hopeful homeowners.

The court was informed that the alleged victims, including Feddie Manyange and Martha Dongo, as well as several others, paid a total of approximately US$49,000 and R195,000 to the prophet’s companies. These payments were for stands on land in areas including Chishawasha, Norton, and Mutare, land which the State says was never in the defendants’ possession. The investors only discovered the truth after investigating the property’s true ownership.

Magaya’s Lawyers Fight For Unconditional Release

The courtroom drama shifted to a legal technicality as the defence team, comprising lawyers Admire Rubaba, Advocate Sylvester Hashiti, and Everson Chatambudza, launched an application for their clients’ immediate and unconditional release. They argued that the couple’s detention violated constitutional rights, as they were held beyond the statutory 48-hour limit without being brought before a court.

Prophet Magaya was arrested at 5am on Saturday at his prayer mountain, with his wife taken into custody just thirty minutes later at their Yadah Hotel. The lawyers insisted,

“The couple should have been released by 5am on Monday.”

However, prosecutor Clement Chimbare fiercely opposed this application. He argued that any perceived infringement of rights does not nullify the serious criminal charges still facing the accused. He told the court,

“The law doesn’t state that upon infringement the accused persons will be absolved of all wrong doing. The circumstances of this case don’t allow their immediate and unconditional release because criminal charges still have to be pursued.”

He suggested that the proper recourse for the couple was to seek damages from the Constitutional Court at a later date.

Regina Daniels’ brother recounts how a policeman they alleged was sent by Ned Nwoko tried arresting him

The family feud involving actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a new turn after the actress’ brother, Sweezy’s partner alleged that a policeman, believed to have been sent by the senator, attempted to arrest Sweezy.

In a post shared on social media, the woman recounted that the officer initially posed as a prospective house buyer before attempting to detain Sweezy. She claimed that the officer engaged her husband in a brief conversation and then suddenly tried to arrest him after asking for his name.

According to her, the same policeman also made an attempt to arrest Regina Daniels’ elder sister, which attracted the attention of onlookers and resulted in a large crowd gathering at the scene.

She alleged that when the officer was confronted by bystanders and questioned about the reason for the arrest, he could not provide any justification.

The latest accusation follows a series of heated exchanges between the Daniels family and Senator Nwoko, with earlier claims by Regina’s brother, Sweezy, and their mother, Rita Daniels, alleging intimidation and wrongful targeting by the politician.

Actress Regina Daniel’s mother lashes out at daughter’s estranged husband Ned Nwoko

Nollywood actress Rita Daniels, mother of popular actress Regina Daniels, has lashed out at her daughter’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, accusing him of orchestrating the arrest of her son, known as Sweezy.

In a video that surfaced on Instagram Stories via Sweezy’s account, Rita Daniels appeared visibly angry as she confronted the situation, expressing frustration over what she described as betrayal and abuse of power.

Holding a phone in her hand and speaking passionately, she said:

“You wanted someone with a high star to boost your fallen star. If you think you can bite the finger that fed you, you’ll go down. My daughter supported your senatorial election with $50,000. We are covering you up and making you feel like an Odogwu — you’re mad.”

In the same post, Sweezy captioned the video:

“Dey stress my mama no be your fault. We all go mad. I’ve never seen where violence is used to make peace. Pride wan kill you. Bring your ego down and say sorry.”

Recall that tensions erupted between Rita Daniels’ family and Senator Nwoko after her son’s purported arrest, though details surrounding the cause of the arrest remain unclear.

Man charged with threatening to execute President Trump during Instagram video

An American man has been charged with threatening to execute US President Donald Trump in an Instagram video.

Trent Schneider, 57, was arrested at his home in Winthrop Harbor on Monday by a local SWAT team to be handed over to federal authorities.

He has since been charged with ‘making a threat in interstate commerce to injure a person’ in respect of the president.

In an Instagram video, Schneider appears to threaten to execute Trump in a mass shooting event.

‘I’m going to get some guns. I know where I can get a lot of f***ing guns and I am going to take care of business myself,’ he allegedly said.

‘I’m tired of all you fing frauds. People need to fing die and people are going to die. F*** all of you, especially you Trump. You should be executed.’

The caption of the video read: ‘THIS IS NOT A THREAT!!! AFTER LOSING EVERYTHING and My House Auction date is 11.04.2025 @realDonaldTrump SHOULD BE EXECUTED!!! SHE IS A #FRAUD and a #COWARD!!! SHE CARES NOTHING ABOUT YOU or ME!!!’

Schneider also claimed in the video that Trump was an actor and had several body doubles who often stood in his place at events.

‘What a miserable fking time to be alive. It is truly fking miserable when you f**king trusted a fraud like Donald Trump.’

Police allege Schneider posted the same video online as many as 18 times between October 16 and 21. As of November 3, the video remains available on Instagram seven times.

The criminal complaint seen by the Daily Mail states Schneider posted a threatening photo on 20 separate occasions featuring a cartoon image of Trump.

The picture included text which read ‘Donald Trump SHOULD BE EXECUTED’ and was tagged at the geolocation of Trump Tower in Chicago, Illinois.

Schneider’s posts were seen by a ‘concerned citizen in Florida’, who reported them to authorities.

Federal agents arrived at Schneider’s home on October 22, and claimed he ‘became irate and started yelling for the officers to get off his property’.

An hour later, the agents left his home, and Schneider allegedly filmed them as they left the driveway, sharing the video later online.

On Monday, with the help of a SWAT team, Schneider was arrested without incident

During his first court appearance, he asked to be placed in ‘Trump motel’ and ‘with popcorn’ until his detention hearing, which is due to take place on Thursday.

The criminal complaint stated Schneider is facing ‘pending foreclosure action’ and an auction is scheduled for November 4.

Schneider will remain in custody until at least his next court hearing, which is scheduled for Thursday at 2pm.

Nelson Chamisa’s Statement On Tanzania Election Divides Zimbabweans

A statement from Nelson Chamisa concerning the recent election in Tanzania has sparked a fierce and divided reaction from Zimbabweans online. The former opposition leader used the political crisis in Tanzania to criticise regional bodies and call for electoral reforms, but the move has left many of his followers questioning his focus and his own political title, while others have defended his regional stance.

The statement, posted on X on 4 November 2025, saw Chamisa condemn the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) for their handling of elections across the region. This intervention, while aimed at a neighbouring nation, has triggered an intense domestic debate about his own political strategy and legacy.

Chamisa Condemns Regional Bodies
In his detailed statement, Chamisa did not hold back in his criticism of the continental organisations. He accused them of being passive in the face of tyranny and flawed electoral processes. According to the statement from his office, he called for immediate action.

“We further call upon the AU to stop, and forthwith seize, the tradition of rubber stamping, and to cease endorsing tyranny and the reversal of democracy on the continent.”

Chamisa also addressed the specific situation in Tanzania, where reports suggest hundreds were killed following a disputed presidential election that saw incumbent Samia Suluhu Hassan win after main rivals were jailed. He expressed solidarity with the Tanzanian opposition and made a direct appeal.

“In Tanzania, we urge the immediate release of the opposition leader, Tundu Lissu, and all other political prisoners, and stress the need for a political solution to address the problems affecting the citizens of Tanzania.”

He added that SADC and AU institutions must be reformed to create clear mechanisms to resolve electoral disputes across the continent.

“There must be a framework and roadmap for resolving disputes in all countries with such challenges, in particular Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Tanzania. This will curb the recurring problems and the vicious cycle of disputed and discredited electoral processes.”

Social Media Erupts With Questions And Criticism
The reaction on X was swift and deeply polarised. Many users immediately zeroed in on Chamisa’s use of the title “President” to refer to himself in the official document.
User @zikhali_x directly asked, “When you refer to yourself as President, what do you mean, you are president of what exactly.” Chamisa responded simply, “A Presidential Candidate.”

Other critics questioned the focus on Tanzania while, in their view, problems persist in Zimbabwe.

Byron Dzinoreva posted, “You go to Tanzania yet you have issued nothing in as far as constitutional protection is concerned in Zimbabwe. OMG.”

To this, Chamisa replied:

“There is no constitution to protect or defend! It’s all torn apart and in tatters! We must instead defend and protect our country!”

The criticism was not limited to his title. Tawonga Kurewa echoed the sentiment with the vernacular question, “NdiPresident weyi?” [He is the President of what?]. Emmanuel Anesu Mapaura pointed out a perceived inconsistency, stating:

Prophet Magaya’s Bodyguard Defrauded Me Of US$6 000- Musician Ti Gonzi

In a desperate public plea, award-winning rapper Ti Gonzi has accused a bodyguard for Prophet Walter Magaya of defrauding him of US$6 000 (approx. R108 000) after allegedly selling him a fake car.

The “Kure Kure Kure” hitmaker, whose real name is Tinashe Gonzara, took to social media on 4 November 2025, writing an emotional open letter directly to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, saying he had “run out of options” to recover his money.

The musician said he bought the car at Yadah Hotel, where Magaya’s ministry is based, and later discovered it was unregistered with fake plates. What followed, he says, was a year of frustration, threats, and broken promises.

“He Sold Me A Fake Car And Vanished”
In his detailed letter to the president, Ti Gonzi laid bare how the deal began and how it went wrong. He wrote:

“Your Excellency, I write to you as a citizen who has ran out of options to be able to recover my US$6 000 I lost in the hands of that man besides Walter Magaya in handcuffs. He sold me an unregistered car with fake number plates only to start running away from me just a day after I discovered the problem.”

According to him, the seller — whom he later identified as Tapiwa Chikondo, allegedly a bodyguard for Magaya — initially promised to reverse the deal.

“He told me he was gonna return my money and take his car back and he ran away from me for over a year now. VTS took my car.”

Ti Gonzi said the car was impounded after it was discovered to be unregistered and possibly linked to fraudulent activities.

“This is the first time I am seeing his face and his name is Tapiwa Chikondo. He is said to be Walter Magaya’s security.”

“I Went To Prophet Magaya Himself — But He Avoided Me”
The musician said he made several attempts to get help directly from Prophet Magaya. He described being brushed aside after initially receiving a small token for fuel.

“I tried to reach out to Walter Magaya for help but I only got 30 US for fuel and he asked me to come the next day and he avoided me since then.”

He said he approached both the Waterfalls Police Station and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). Despite being told the investigation was complete, he claims there has been no outcome.

“I have reported my case to the Waterfalls police station and the anti-corruption of Zimbabwe. The anti-corruption told me they are done with the investigations six months ago but up to this day I have no idea on what to do.”

The rapper’s tone turned emotional as he described feeling cornered and unsafe:

“I have been threatened but I have always believed and I know we have a great president and Nyika inovakwa nevanavayo (a country is built by its own citizens). I have my agreements of sale and everything. Please help Mr President.”

Chikondo Already In Court On Separate Charges
The man Ti Gonzi named — Tapiwa Felix Chikondo — appeared in a Harare court on 3 November 2025, a day before Ti Gonzi’s plea went viral. Chikondo, a 34-year-old serving soldier in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), was handcuffed to Prophet Magaya when they appeared together.

He faces charges of assaulting police officers and obstructing justice after allegedly attacking detectives who went to Magaya’s Waterfalls prayer mountain to arrest the prophet.

According to a police report:

“He shouted that we had no permission to be where we were since the place was his. He then charged towards Detective Assistant Inspector Chifamba and pushed him to the ground before we managed to restrain and handcuff him.”

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti opposed bail, saying Chikondo had “a propensity to commit violent offences” and another pending case at Waterfalls Police Station for defeating the course of justice.

Public Reaction And Next Steps
The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. One X user commented:

“It’s not funny — he’s desperate,”

while another wrote:

“Welcome to the teapot-shaped country where a whole President can be asked to help settle a private matter.”

As of publication, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and ZACC have not publicly confirmed any update on Ti Gonzi’s complaint.

The musician maintains he has all relevant documents proving the transaction and insists he will not give up.

“I know justice will prevail one day. I just need help to be heard.”

“May I Please Have My Son Back”: Jub Jub Begs Kelly Khumalo for Access to Their Child

“I’m Not a Deadbeat Father”: Jub Jub Pleads With Kelly Khumalo to Let Him See Their Son

Television personality Jub Jub has made a heartfelt public plea to Kelly Khumalo, the mother of his son Christian, urging her to stop portraying him as a deadbeat father and to allow him access to their child.

In an emotional video posted on Instagram, Jub Jub said he has tried several times to reconnect with his son but has been met with resistance from Kelly and her family.

“Stop Saying I’m a Deadbeat Dad” — Jub Jub Speaks Out
In the video, Jub Jub directly addressed the singer, pleading for compassion and understanding.

“Kelly, you and I know what court is like. I don’t want to be putting my boy through that. You know how many times I’ve tried to get ahold of you to try and get the boy. You know how many times your sister Gumede and your mother have been trying to talk about me meeting the boy,”
he said.

The Ndikhokhele hitmaker accused Kelly of controlling their son’s life and shutting him out completely.

“Stop making my child AI, it’s not nice, it’s not fair. Stop saying I am a deadbeat dad,” he added.

Claims of Ignored Legal Attempts and Returned Gifts
Jub Jub said he has attempted to go through legal channels, but his efforts were allegedly ignored by Kelly and her lawyer.

He also revealed that he had been sending gifts to his son while in prison, but they were returned.

“From the time I was locked up, I’ve been sending gifts every Christmas, every December and every birthday to Vosloorus. You started sending them back in 2014 and 2015,” he claimed.

The rapper added that he has long wanted to perform traditional gestures such as paying damages and washing the house, but says Kelly has continually locked him out.

“I Just Want to Be Present in My Boy’s Life”
Jub Jub said one of the most painful parts of his life has been watching his son grow up from a distance, occasionally driving to his school just to catch a glimpse of him.

“Don’t make me look like a deadbeat father. I’m alive, I’m kicking, I’ve been wanting Christian. Thank you for taking care of my child. May I please have my son back,” he said emotionally.

The rapper concluded his plea by clarifying that he was not seeking full custody, but rather the chance to play an active role in his son’s life.

“I’m not asking for full custody, I’m just asking to be present in my boy’s life.”

Zimbabwean Minister Slammed for Congratulating Samia Suluhu Hassan After Disputed Tanzania Election

“Read the Room!”: Zimbabwean Minister Slammed Over Post Praising Samia Suluhu Hassan Presidential Victory

Zimbabwean Minister of Information, Communication, Technology, Postal and Courier Services Tatenda Mavetera has found herself under fire after congratulating Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan on her re-election.

This comes as the elections were marred by widespread reports of irregularities, deadly protests, and voter suppression.

Taking to her X account, Mavetera posted a picture of herself with the Tanzanian leader and wrote:

“A monumental moment for Tanzania. My heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency President @SuluhuSamia. Your victory paves the way for women and girls across our continent, proving that with determination, every ceiling can be shattered. Karibu sana Rais! #WomenLead #Inspiration”

Elections Marred by Violence and Irregularities
President Samia Suluhu Hassan was declared the winner with an overwhelming 98 percent of the vote. However, the elections were marred by intimidation and violent protests.

Criticism Mounts Against Mavetera
Mavetera’s congratulatory post immediately drew sharp criticism from social media users who accused her of insensitivity and poor timing. Many argued that it was inappropriate to celebrate a victory clouded by electoral manipulation and human rights violations.

Here are some of the comments:

One of the qualities you need as a leader is to be able to read the room. Have the wisdom to know what to say and when to say it. With the chaos and post-election protests & deaths taking place in Tanzania at the moment, u could have just kept quiet for now. Miswai imi

China warns against interference in Nigeria’s affairs after US threat of military action

BREAKING: China warns against interference in Nigeria’s affairs after US threat of military action

The Chinese government says it firmly supports the President Bola Tinubu administration as it “leads its people on the development path suited to its national conditions”.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson of China’s foreign ministry, said “as Nigeria’s comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force”.

Ning was answering a question on US President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

Florida man wakes from coma to accuse pregnant girlfriend of deliberately crashing car

A 22-year-old Florida native, Daniel Waterman, reportedly woke from a months-long coma to accuse his pregnant girlfriend, Leigha Mumby, of intentionally crashing their car into a tree during an argument earlier this year, telling investigators she allegedly said, “You’ll get what you deserve.”

The crash, which occurred in February 2025, left Waterman in critical condition and Mumby with minor injuries. Authorities initially charged Mumby with aggravated battery and reckless driving, but those charges have now been upgraded to vehicular homicide following Waterman’s de@th on October 8, 2025.

According to police reports, the altercation began after Mumby discovered she was pregnant and allegedly found a message from another woman on Waterman’s phone. During the heated exchange that followed, investigators say Mumby lost control of the vehicle, veering off the road and crashing into a tree.

Waterman remained in a coma for several months before briefly regaining consciousness, during which he reportedly identified Mumby as having caused the crash deliberately. His statement later became key evidence in the ongoing case.

Following his death, Waterman’s family said they are now seeking custody of the unborn child and have vowed to pursue justice in his name.

Local authorities confirmed that Mumby remains under investigation, and prosecutors are reviewing evidence to determine whether additional charges will be filed as the case proceeds.

Why Prophet Walter Magaya Was Arrested – Here Is What Is Known

Prophet Magaya Arrested Just Days Before Major Church Event
Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya has been arrested in Harare on rape and fraud charges, police have confirmed. The arrest, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, 1 November 2025, ended years of speculation surrounding allegations that have dogged the preacher for years.

Police Confirm The Arrest
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development in a terse statement issued on Saturday morning.

He said:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of church leader Walter Magaya in connection with several reports of rape and fraud. The suspect was arrested early today by a police crack team.”

According to The Standard, the 41-year-old cleric was taken into custody by detectives who stormed his church offices in Harare using several unmarked vehicles.

The publication reports that this development comes after years of controversy, with both fraud and sexual abuse allegations having shadowed the preacher’s ministry for nearly a decade.

Allegations Of Rape And Fraud
For years, Magaya has been accused by several female members of his congregation of sexual abuse. Although the allegations were widely reported, authorities had not taken action until now.

In 2022, the Zimbabwe Gender Commission announced that it had initiated investigations into the matter and invited potential victims to come forward.

The commission stated at the time:

“The investigation which was gazetted on the 23rd of August 2019 (General Notice No. 1444/2019) was halted by the legal challenge launched by the key respondent, Mr Walter Magaya (Prophet Magaya). We are happy that the courts have given legal judgements (SC592/19, HC7347/19, and HH688/19) which have paved the way for the continuance of our processes.”

It further called for citizens with complaints of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) involving Magaya to submit their cases.

However, the Gender Commission’s final findings were never made public, and it remains unclear whether the arrest is directly linked to that investigation.

Magaya has also faced fraud allegations after some of his followers claimed they were defrauded through a failed housing project under his church. The complainants allege that they paid for residential stands that were never delivered.

Church Event Overshadowed By Arrest
Prior to his arrest, Magaya had claimed he was on a 31-day fasting and prayer retreat at a mountain. His church had been promoting an event titled “Night of Turn Around”, set for 7 November 2025 — which was to be his first major public appearance after weeks in seclusion.

A lengthy post shared on his official Facebook page reads:

“He is coming down full of glory. He is coming down with divine instruction and remarkable anointing.

We have seen power before, but on the Night of Turn Around, when the Prophet of God makes his first public appearance after thirty-one days of fasting and prayer, we shall experience power like never before.

When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai, he was carrying the presence of God. He had been with God, and the evidence was visible for all to see.

This is not just another church gathering — it is a prophetic night of change, healing, deliverance, and breakthrough. Get ready for your moment. The Prophet returns filled with the fire of transformation.”

The dramatic timing of Magaya’s arrest, coming just days before the highly publicised event, has stunned both followers and observers. Many have since taken to social media to express disbelief and confusion, while others have urged calm and prayer.

What Comes Next
Following the arrest, Magaya is expected to appear in court in Harare once formal charges have been processed. Police sources said investigations are still ongoing, and more complainants may be called to give statements.

Legal analysts say the prosecution will need to establish whether the new charges relate to the Zimbabwe Gender Commission probe or to fresh complaints filed this year.

Meanwhile, the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries has not issued an official statement on the arrest. However, some of Magaya’s followers have taken to social media expressing disbelief and calling for prayers.

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission is also expected to clarify whether its investigation findings were handed over to the police.

The case is expected to dominate national headlines in the coming days as the courts determine whether the self-styled prophet will be granted bail or remain in custody pending trial.

Regina Daniels cries out over her estranged husband Ned Nwoko allegedly arresting her brother and sister in a bid to force her into rehab for alleged drug use

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has taken to social media with a distressing post alleging that her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, orchestrated the arrest of her siblings in an attempt to compel her into returning to rehab over alleged drug use.

In an Instagram story, the actress appeared emotional as she pleaded for help, claiming that her big brother and sister had been arrested, while her younger sister could be next unless she complies with Nwoko’s demand to go back to rehab.

“Someone please help me! I feel like I’m losing my mind,” she wrote. “My big brother and big sister have been arrested. My baby sister might be arrested soon as well until I return and, according to him, return to rehab.”

Daniels accused Nwoko of tarnishing her image with damaging allegations, saying he has called her a drug addict and a criminal. “You said I’m a drug addict, me I use am rob body sir! What other name can you call me? A prostitute? But I will speak on that one day and tell the world of your involvement with everything,” her post read.

In another part of her statement, the 24-year-old actress expressed frustration, saying she had tried to remain calm and mature despite being provoked. “I’m trying, I’m really trying to be the bigger person by not saying or doing anything whereas I’m fking young, petty, and immature! So I can act like a fking 24-year-old child and speak my pain! Leave my family alone, Ned!” she wrote.

Daniels lamented that the public fallout could destroy the legacy they built together. “A big shame that the beautiful but short legacy we built is about to be ridiculed by the whole world,” she said. “Must things go completely south if partners are no longer interested?”

“Imagine the Nigerian police beating up my brother like a criminal” — Regina Daniels drags Ned Nwoko again

Actress Regina Daniels has continued to call out her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, in a new post where she accused him of using police officers to violently arrest her brother.

In her Instagram story, she wrote:

“Imagine the Nigerian police beating up my brother like a criminal. What exactly was the violent arrest for? Ned, you have power, connections and money right? Wild for you to think I have none.”

Regina didn’t hold back as she warned her husband, hinting that she’s capable of exposing more about him:

“What I wouldn’t want to do to you is let the man I once saw as an iroko fall before everyone because you bloody know your little girl Gina is capable of that!”

She went on to express deep frustration about the state of things, especially concerning her children:

“I just hate this feeling of wishing my boys’ father’s name remains a legacy. You know why? Boys don’t grow to change their surnames.”

This comes just hours after Regina earlier cried out online, claiming that her siblings had been arrested and that she was being forced to return to “rehab.”

Cristiano Ronaldo says he doesn’t agree’ that Messi is better than him

Superstar footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, has once again weighed in on the long-running debate over who is the greatest footballer of all time, insisting that his arch-rival Lionel Messi is not the greatest of all time.

The Al Nassr and Portugal captain made this claim in a new interview with British broadcaster, Piers Morgan.

In a preview of his upcoming interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Ronaldo was asked: “They say Messi is better than you, what do you think?”

The Portuguese star responded confidently, “Messi better than me? I don’t agree with that opinion. I don’t want to be humble.”

Ronaldo was also asked about past comments by former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, who has previously stated that he preferred Messi over his ex-colleague.

Ronaldo simply said, “It doesn’t bother me at all.”

For years, football fans and analysts have debated who reigns supreme between Ronaldo and Messi, who both have won numerous titles with their club and country.

However, Ronaldo has been named Ballon d’Or winner five times, while Messi has won it a record eight times.

Strive Masiyiwa Adds US$100 Million To His Wealth Amid Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Surge

Strive Masiyiwa’s Fortune Grows By Over US$100 Million Following Rise In Zimbabwe’s Stock Market
Zimbabwe’s richest man, Strive Masiyiwa, has seen his fortune rise by more than US$100 million (approximately R1.8 billion) following a sharp rebound on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. The gain reflects renewed investor confidence in the billionaire’s expanding digital and artificial intelligence ventures across the continent.

Surge Driven By Market Confidence
According to Business Insider Africa, the increase in Masiyiwa’s wealth comes after shares in his major holdings — Econet Wireless Zimbabwe and TN CyberTech Investments Holdings Limited (formerly EcoCash Holdings) — gained momentum.

“The recovery is linked to a surge in Zimbabwe’s stock market, which ultimately restored a large portion of the lost value,” the publication reported.

Masiyiwa owns around 38% of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe and 33% of TN CyberTech, two of the country’s biggest technology companies. Their improved stock performance helped lift his net worth from US$1.2 billion (R21.6 billion) to US$1.3 billion (R23.4 billion).

Investing In Africa’s AI Future
The rebound follows a year of ambitious announcements by Masiyiwa’s Cassava Technologies. In April 2025, the firm revealed plans for a US$720 million (R12.9 billion) investment to develop Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) factory in partnership with American tech giant Nvidia.

“Collaborating with Nvidia gives us the advanced computing capabilities needed to drive Africa’s AI innovation while strengthening the continent’s digital independence,” Masiyiwa said in a press statement in June 2025.

By September 2025, he unveiled plans to build five AI factories across Africa within a year, further positioning his company at the forefront of the continent’s digital transformation.

Renewed Investor Trust
Market analysts told Business Insider Africa that the uptick in share prices reflects growing optimism around Masiyiwa’s vision for technology-led growth.

“Investor confidence in Masiyiwa’s ventures remains strong, particularly with his focus on AI and broadband expansion,” the report noted.

This renewed faith has not only boosted Masiyiwa’s personal net worth but also strengthened Zimbabwe’s standing as a viable destination for digital investment.

Cost Of Dying In Harare Set To Soar As Council Proposes Steep Increase In Burial, Tombstone Erection Fees

Harare Burial Costs Set To Skyrocket By Over 45 Percent
The price of laying a loved one to rest in Harare is poised for a dramatic jump. The City of Harare has laid out a new budget proposal that would see the cost of burials and tombstone erections skyrocket from the start of next year.

The proposed tariffs, currently open for public scrutiny, outline a significant hike for almost every service related to cemeteries. If the plan is approved, the final journey for an adult at the main Warren Hills Cemetery will leap from US$275 (approx. R5 100) to US$400 (approx. R7 400) — a staggering 45 percent increase.

For those not officially residing in the capital, the cost is even steeper. A non-resident adult burial is set to rise from US$300 to US$450 (approx. R8 300) — a 50 percent jump.

Staggering Costs For Foreigners And Exhumations
The proposed increases are even more pronounced for non-Zimbabweans and for the sensitive process of exhumation. The fee for burying a non-Zimbabwean adult would surge from US$395 to US$590 (approx. R10 900), a rise of nearly 49 percent.

Furthermore, the cost to exhume a body would see a massive 50 percent increase — moving from US$350 to US$525 (approx. R9 700). These figures have sent shockwaves through communities who feel the council is capitalising on grief.

According to the proposed tariffs on public deposit, the fee hikes are not limited to the main cemeteries. Other council-run burial grounds like Granville, Mabvuku, and Greendale are facing similar adjustments.

For instance, an adult burial at Granville A Cemetery is proposed to increase from US$225 to US$330, a 47 percent jump. The Mabvuku Cemetery adult normal burial will move from US$150 to US$225, a sharp 50 percent increase.

Public Given Deadline To Object
The proposed new fee structure is scheduled to take effect on 1 January 2026, but it is not yet a done deal. In line with the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:15), the council has made the documents available for public inspection and objection.

Residents of Harare have until 1 December 2025 to formally lodge their objections to the steep increases. This window provides a critical opportunity for public feedback on the plan.

The cost of memorialising the departed is also set to become more expensive. The fee for erecting a tombstone or memorial across all council cemeteries will rise from US$100 to US$150, a 50 percent increase. This additional cost adds to the overall financial strain on families during a difficult time.

The Herald, confirmed that the proposals are part of the city’s broader budget considerations for the 2026 financial year.

The coming weeks will determine whether these proposed tariffs become a painful new reality for the residents of Harare.

Former England football captain, David Beckham will be among the distinguished figures accepting honors today, November 4 as he receives a knighthood at Windsor Castle.

The football star, who is 50, is being recognized for his profound services to sport and charity. Earlier this year, Sir David expressed that he was “immensely proud” of being named in the King’s Birthday Honours.

The sports figure made his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995. He was famously part of the team that secured a dramatic Champions League final victory in 1999, beating Bayern Munich with two late goals.

Throughout his career, he scored 85 goals and collected numerous honors, including six Premier League titles and two FA Cups, before retiring from professional football in 2013.

Beyond the pitch, Beckham has passionately supported several charitable causes, notably serving as a goodwill ambassador for the humanitarian aid organization UNICEF since 2005.

Last year, the dedicated “huge royalist” was also named an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity established by the King in 1990.

In addition to his sporting and charitable work, Beckham is renowned for his influence on fashion, having been named the most stylish man of the year by GQ magazine in 1998, and modeling for major brands like Armani and H&M. He and his wife, Victoria, married in 1999 and share four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

The honors ceremony today also recognizes Nobel Prize-winning novelist Kazuo Ishiguro and West End performer Elaine Paige.

Ishiguro was made a Companion of Honour for his services to literature. The Order of the Companions of Honour, founded in 1917, is limited to 65 members at any one time, recognizing those who have made a long-standing contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government.

The author, who is 70, is celebrated for novels like 2005’s “Never Let Me Go” and 1989’s “The Remains Of The Day”, for which he won the Man Booker Prize. “The Remains Of The Day” was adapted into a celebrated film starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, which earned a total of eight Oscar nominations in 1993. Ishiguro also wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplay for the 2022 film “Living.”

West End legend, Elaine Paige was given a damehood for her services to music and charity. She became an overnight sensation with her portrayal of Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Evita” in 1978, winning the Olivier Award for performance of the year in a musical.

Brown Mogotsi survives Vosloorus shooting, still refuses to cooperate with police

Brown Mogotsi survives Vosloorus shooting, still refuses to cooperate with police

Businessman Brown Mogotsi survived a shooting in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, earlier today, 4 November 2025, when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle before fleeing the scene. Police are investigating the incident, but details about the attackers or the motive remain unclear.

Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, speaking on the matter, highlighted that Mogotsi has a history of failing to cooperate with law enforcement. “Our investigative team has been trying to engage Mr. Mogotsi since 16 October 2025 in a case involving allegations of fraud, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice. Despite several scheduled appointments, he has not appeared before the team,” Mathe said.

Mathe explained that the investigative team initially visited Mogotsi’s business premises in Mahikeng on 16 October 2025 to execute a search and seizure warrant, but he was absent. He promised to meet with investigators, a promise that has not been honoured on multiple occasions. “From 16 October until now, Mr. Mogotsi has been a no-show. This is how he operates, and it appears he does not cooperate with the police,” Mathe added.

Attempts to contact Mogotsi have also been unsuccessful. He reportedly claimed his phone was not working and provided a bodyguard’s number to police, but calls went unanswered. Authorities are hoping that Mogotsi and his legal representatives will honour a scheduled meeting tomorrow to allow the investigation to proceed.

Today’s shooting adds a new dimension to the ongoing investigation. Police are working to determine whether the attack is linked to Mogotsi’s legal troubles or other business-related disputes. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Guinea’s junta leader, Mamady Doumbouya, put his name forward to stand in presidential elections on December 28

IN PICTURES

Guinea’s junta leader, Mamady Doumbouya, put his name forward on Monday to stand in presidential elections on December 28, a move that could keep him in power for another five years.

Doumbouya had vowed not to run when he seized power in the West African country in 2021. But a new constitution pushed by the junta and approved in a referendum in September opened the door to his candidacy.

The new charter replaced arrangements agreed after the coup that had barred members of the junta from contesting elections.

It also requires presidential candidates to live in Guinea and be between 40 and 80 years old.

That would bar two potentially powerful candidates – former president Alpha Conde, 87, who lives abroad, and former prime minister Cellou Dalein Diallo, 73, in exile over corruption allegations that he denies.

Other candidates, including former prime minister Lansana Kouyate and former foreign minister Hadja Makale Camara, have submitted their applications and would be able to stand.

Guinea is home to the world’s largest bauxite reserves and the world’s richest untapped iron ore deposit at Simandou.

Ex-Zinara Boss Frank Chitukutuku Loses US$30 Million Assets After Failing To Explain Source Of Vast Wealth

Frank Chitukutuku Forfeits US$30 Million In Unexplained Wealth
Former Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) Chief Executive Officer Frank Chitukutuku has lost assets worth an estimated US$30 million (approximately R550 million) to the State after failing to justify the source of his wealth. The development, confirmed by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to The Daily News, in early November 2025, closes one of the country’s most high-profile and long-running corruption-linked forfeiture cases.

Supreme Court Upholds Major Asset Forfeiture
The case dates back to May 2019, when the High Court first issued an order freezing Chitukutuku’s properties, vehicles, and company shares pending investigation. After several appeals, the Supreme Court in late November 2024 upheld most of the original forfeiture orders, a decision ZACC described as a “significant victory” for anti-graft efforts.

ZACC chairperson Michael Reza previously told delegates at a regional anti-corruption review meeting in Harare that the matter had been long and complex but had now reached its conclusion.

“We had a matter that was long-running, involving Frank Chitukutuku, who was CEO of ZINARA,” said Reza during the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group review session in Harare on 3 December 2024.

“Through the assistance of the National Prosecuting Authority, we submitted our papers and won the forfeiture order. His houses, trucks, and company shares add up to about US$20 million (approx. R367 million).”

Although part of the judgment was referred back to the High Court for clarification regarding two properties in Borrowdale and Glen Lorne, the Supreme Court agreed that most of the assets — including vehicles, tractors, and shares in Champions Insurance (Pvt) Ltd — were lawfully forfeited.

A Fortune Built On Suspicion
Chitukutuku, who earned an estimated US$8,500 (approx. R156,000) a month during his time at ZINARA, failed to convince the courts that his sprawling wealth came from legitimate sources. Court documents reveal that his collection of assets included luxury vehicles, such as a Range Rover, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Nissan NP200, as well as several Mazda T35 trucks and tractors, and a farm in Goromonzi.

Investigations by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and ZACC linked the wealth to proceeds of corruption, including alleged kickbacks from road rehabilitation contracts. Despite his earlier acquittal on criminal charges of fraud and abuse of office, the civil courts ruled — on a balance of probabilities — that a large portion of his wealth was tainted.

“Civil forfeiture is not about conviction; it’s about the probability of corruption-linked benefit,” said a legal source familiar with the proceedings. “In this case, the court found that the assets were more likely than not to have been purchased using proceeds of crime.”

Zimbabwe’s Anti-Corruption Drive Intensifies
The forfeiture adds to ZACC’s growing list of high-value recoveries under the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act, which has been used to reclaim millions in unexplained wealth since 2020. The Commission has previously seized ten mansions and twenty-two vehicles worth about US$8 million (approx. R147 million) from various public figures.

Chitukutuku’s forfeited assets, accumulated between 2009 and 2019, represent one of Zimbabwe’s largest asset recoveries. The case, which involved years of litigation across multiple courts, stands as a precedent for future corruption-related forfeitures.

Lamar Odom shares cryptic messages about his Khloe Kardashian

Two-time NBA champion, Lamar Odom, shared cryptic messages about his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian.

Odom shared multiple social media posts in recent days featuring photos of himself and his Khloe—to whom he was married from 2009 to 2016—accompanied by a series of inspirational messages.

In a post on X, Lamar, 45, shared a picture of himself and Khloe, 41, taken during Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 event in February 2016.

At the time, the former couple were still estranged while the Kardashians star helped him through his recovery from a near-fatal drug overdose at a Nevada brothel months earlier.

In the caption, Lamar appeared to cryptically reference Khloe’s support.

He wrote: “Grace carried me when strength couldn’t.”

Later, Lamar shared another memory from 2016 on X, posting two photos of himself alongside Khloe as they made their way to church with her nephew Mason Disick and niece Penelope Disick.

He captioned the post, “Pain doesn’t scare me anymore.”

The ex-spouses recently came face-to-face for the first time in nine years during a season six episode of The Kardashians in February, when Lamar playfully referred to Khloe as his “wife.” However, she made it crystal clear she wasn’t interested in rekindling a romantic relationship.

Norway’s future queen, 21, breaks silence as her half brother faces 32 charges including for r@pe

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway is speaking out for the first time about her half-brother Marius Borg Høiby ahead of his upcoming criminal trial.

NRK published an interview on Nov. 2 with the future queen of Norway, in which she broke her silence about the allegations and situation involving her half-brother.

Marius, 28, will head to trial in February 2026, as he faces allegations of r@ping four women, AFP previously reported.

Just months earlier, Marius was charged with 32 crimes, including r@pe, domestic violence and assault, one year after his initial arrest, and if convicted, faces up to 10 years in prison.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 21, addressed a question about the situation around her half-brother during the rare interview from the University of Sydney in Australia, where she is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in social sciences.

“Of course it’s difficult. Both for those of us who are around, for me as a sister, and for mom and dad. And, of course, for everyone affected by the case,” Princess Ingrid Alexandra said, according to the English translation.

The young royal was then asked what it was like to be “far away” as it all unfolded.

“Yes, it is… I don’t know if I want to go into it much more than that,” she told NRK.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and she follows her father in the direct line of succession to the throne.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 52, welcomed Marius during a relationship prior to her marriage to Haakon, the future king of Norway, in 2001.

Socialist Party lawyer praises Hichilema over Tanzania trip

Socialist Party lawyer praises Hichilema over Tanzania trip

SOCIALIST Party lawyer and one of President Hakainde Hichilema’s strongest critics Simon Mwila has praised the Head of State for attending Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu’s inauguration, stating that the move was not about politics but about safeguarding Zambia’s economic interests.

https://www.facebook.co

Mwila said Tanzania was not just any other neighbour but one of Zambia’s most vital economic partners.

He explained that if the relationship between the two countries were strained, it could seriously affect the country’s economic performance.

He said Zambia benefits from Tanzania in many ways, particularly through trade, transport and energy cooperation.

Being landlocked, Zambia relies heavily on Tanzania’s Port of Dar es Salaam to import and export goods such as copper, fuel and machinery.

The TAZARA Railway connects Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia to Dar es Salaam, easing trade costs, while the TAZAMA Pipeline transports crude oil from Tanzania to Zambia for refining at INDENI in Ndola.

The two countries also trade in agricultural products, minerals, and manufactured goods, and are both members of SADC and COMESA, regional blocs that promote trade and investment.

In a Facebook post, Mwila said President Hichilema’s presence in Tanzania was not about endorsement, applause, or “learning about her mingalato,” as claimed by opposition figures, but about protecting Zambia’s economic lifelines.

“Sometimes leadership is about seeing beyond headlines and emotions. President Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to attend the inauguration of Tanzania’s president wasn’t about politics, it was about economics, strategy, and protecting Zambia’s long-term interests.”

“Our economies are tightly connected through TAZARA, TAZAMA, and multiple trade routes that keep our imports and exports flowing smoothly,” he explained.

He described President Hichilema’s move as mature and well calculated, saying it prioritised national prosperity over political gossip.

If Tanzania sneezes, Zambia catches a cold. Any instability there would directly affect our jobs, fuel, transport, and trade balance. That’s what smart diplomacy looks like: engaging where it matters and keeping the nation’s interests ahead of political noise.”

“I have been one of the President’s sharp critics on many issues, but on this one, I give him his flowers,” he said.

Mwila urged Zambians to rise above hate and partisan thinking when a good decision has been made.

“After all, let’s not forget that even our “tuma skiddes” from BeForward pass through Tanzania, and our beloved Nakonde rice comes from there.”

“So yes, whether we like it or not, our economic heartbeat is connected to theirs. And that’s exactly why this move deserves an applause,” said Mwila.

PF SAYS IT WON’T USE FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU’S DELAYED BURIAL AS A SCAPEGOAT TO STALL ELECTION OF A NEW PRESIDENT

PF SAYS IT WON’T USE FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU’S DELAYED BURIAL AS A SCAPEGOAT TO STALL ELECTION OF A NEW PRESIDENT

By: Thomas Afroman Mwale

The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) faction led by Given Lubinda has declared that it will not use the delayed burial of late former President Edgar Lungu as a scapegoat for failing to mobilize and elect a new party president at its convention scheduled for the end of November 2025.

Speaking at a media briefing Acting PF Secretary General Brenda Nyirenda disclosed that while the party remains deeply concerned about the unresolved burial of the former head of state, it will not allow the matter to hinder its organizational programs.

Ms. Nyirenda stated that it is not the opposition PF’s failure for former president Lungu not to be buried but government’s failure.

She accused those in power of neglecting to apologize to the Lungu family and of failing to ensure the late President is accorded a dignified burial, describing the situation as one that continues to hurt the party.

Meanwhile Ms. Nyirenda, who is also the Lundazi Member of Parliament, announced that during a Central Committee meeting held on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, the PF resolved to open nominations for presidential aspirants for seven days effective 3rd November 2025.

She revealed that non-refundable application fees have been set at K200,000 for male aspirants, K100,000 for female aspirants, and K100,000 for youth aspirants with each candidate required to sign a commitment pledge to remain loyal to the PF even if not adopted.

At the same media briefing, PF National Chairperson Emmanuel Mpakata downplayed the ongoing court matter involving the Mafinga Member of Parliament, saying there is no injunction restraining the PF from mobilizing or electing its leaders.

M’MEMBE ACCUSES UPND OF ATTEMPTING TANZANIA-STYLE TACTICS TO SILENCE OPPOSITION AHEAD OF 2026 ELECTIONS

M’MEMBE ACCUSES UPND OF ATTEMPTING TANZANIA-STYLE TACTICS TO SILENCE OPPOSITION AHEAD OF 2026 ELECTION

By: Thomas Afroman Mwale

Socialist Party leader Dr. Fred M’membe has accused the United Party for National Development (UPND) of attempting to replicate tactics seen in Tanzania’s recent general elections, where the main opposition party was barred from contesting a controversial poll that saw President Samia Suluhu Hassan secure 98% of the vote.

Speaking on Hot FM’s breakfast show, Dr. M’membe cited the weakening of the Patriotic Front (PF) as evidence of a broader strategy to suppress political opposition.

He alleged that state agents are now targeting the Socialist Party due to its growing influence, drawing parallels to similar efforts in Senegal, which he said ultimately failed.

On internal party matters, Dr. M’membe clarified that Kelvin Kaunda had not been expelled from the Socialist Party but was relieved of his duties as Secretary for Mobilization to ease tensions.

This followed allegations that Mr. Kaunda intended to challenge Dr. M’membe for the party presidency amid speculation of a vote of no confidence.

⬆️ CONTEXT | Hichilema’s Dodoma — Diplomacy Meets Pressure, Principles Meet Reality

President Hakainde Hichilema stood in Dodoma yesterday and delivered a measured speech. He congratulated President Samia Suluhu Hassan during an inauguration shadowed by curfews, internet cuts, armed patrols and a disputed ninety-seven percent tally. He honoured statecraft. He also stepped into a storm.

He urged Tanzania’s leader to “lead all Tanzanians, including those who did not vote” for her. A diplomatic sentence, but a pointed one. It acknowledged victory and questioned legitimacy in the same breath. It praised order and reminded the region that order without consent is brittle.

Hichilema leaned on his own story, recalling fifteen years in opposition without calling people to the streets. “Peace comes first,” he said. It was a warning to those stirring unrest in Tanzania. It was also an indirect rebuke to voices at home who romanticise lawlessness as a shortcut to power.

But that message lands in a complicated place. Zambia’s opposition claim political arrests, disrupted rallies, and a cyber law that bites. When he says “I never asked citizens to riot,” critics answer: but under your Presidency opponents cannot protest without a permit anyway. The tension is real. His record on civil liberties faces scrutiny even as he calls others to democratic restraint.

Hichilema reached further, linking Tanzania’s unrest to Mozambique’s instability and the long memory of southern Africa’s liberation wars. He reminded the region that peace is not a slogan, it is a survival tool. “Once you lose peace, you may never regain it properly,” he said. The reference to Mozambique’s conflict-scarred north was deliberate. Insecurity does not stay in its lane in this part of the world.

However, his presence in Dodoma carries cost.  A large section of Zambians see Tanzania’s election as compromised and expected a principled distance. Online backlash reflects a public uneasy about standing beside a leader emerging from violence and media blackouts. Diplomacy rarely satisfies emotion.

Hichilema’s defence is strategic, not sentimental. Tanzania is maize, fuel routes, trade, port access, a copper corridor and TAZARA steel linked to Zambia’s spine. Protest hashtags do not keep fuel flowing through TAZAMA. Regional peace is not an academic phrase when economies share borders and pipelines. Still, voters do not eat geopolitics, they feel posture, and they measure moral consistency.

The moment carries contradictions. A regional leader preaching restraint while facing criticism for shrinking civic space. A democracy defending a neighbour accused of muffling dissent. A President balancing principle and necessity in a room where applause and suspicion coexist.

This visit will not be forgotten at home or abroad. It was not a victory lap. It was a stress test. Tanzania faces a crisis of legitimacy. Zambia faces a test of democratic stamina. Africa faces a youth wave unwilling to inherit quiet politics.

Hichilema did not arrive with answers. He arrived with a warning: stability is expensive, and once lost, recovery is not guaranteed. The question now is whether his leadership at home can match the standards he urged abroad.

PF Blasts UPND, Accuses Hichilema of Failing to Bury Lungu

PF Blasts UPND, Accuses Hichilema of Failing to Bury Lungu

The Patriotic Front (PF) has come out guns blazing against the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) and President Hakainde Hichilema, accusing them of failing to facilitate the burial of late former Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu five months after his death.

PF Acting Secretary General Brenda Nyirenda expressed deep frustration, saying it was shameful and undignified that the former Head of State, who once led the nation, has not yet been laid to rest.

“It’s everyone’s wish to see our father laid to rest,” Nyirenda said. “We can’t allow his legacy to go down like this. He died fighting for this party and for this country he deserves a dignified burial.”

In a passionate statement, Nyirenda accused government of using bureaucracy and internal excuses as a “political escape route,” insisting that the responsibility to bury a former president lies squarely with the sitting government.

“Why are you doing this? Your leader is in charge. Go to the family, meet them, and choose leaders to stand in for you if there are issues,” she charged. “President Hichilema should show humility and maturity. There’s nothing wrong with kneeling down to apologize if something went wrong.”

Nyirenda suggested that the failure to engage the Lungu family reflected poor leadership and a lack of empathy from those in power.

“How would you feel if your father was denied medical support and then still denied a dignified burial?” she asked. “There is pain in that family—pain that needs leadership to heal, not politics.”

She further urged UPND to engage PF leaders, including Acting President Given Lubinda, to help resolve the standoff surrounding Lungu’s burial.

“We are ready to stand in the gap and ensure our father is buried in peace,” Nyirenda added. “If it takes an election for that to happen, so be it but our wish is to bury him as soon as yesterday.”

The PF maintains that it is not the opposition’s duty to organize the burial of a former Republican President, saying that responsibility lies with the sitting administration.

As tensions between PF and UPND continue to simmer, the delayed burial of the late Edgar Lungu has now become a fresh political flashpoint one laced with emotion, accusation, and calls for reconciliation.

MAKEBI ZULU IS NOT A WANTED PERSON – HE IS A NEEDED LEADER

*MAKEBI ZULU IS NOT A WANTED PERSON – HE IS A NEEDED LEADER*

By Brian Matambo | Lusaka

In recent days, social media pages aligned with the ruling party have peddled a malicious rumour suggesting that lawyer and opposition leader Makebi Zulu is a “wanted person.” Let it be stated clearly and without hesitation: Makebi Zulu has not committed any crime in Zambia or anywhere else for which he is wanted. No police warrant, court summons, or legal action has ever been issued against him. These are desperate fabrications by those afraid of his growing political influence.

Zambia Watchdog, a known propaganda arm of the ruling UPND, has again chosen to abandon journalistic integrity for political mischief. Instead of investing its platform in informing citizens about the developmental promises the UPND made and has failed to deliver, such as the jobs, the affordable mealie meal, the cheaper fuel, and the end to load-shedding, it is wasting time attempting to tarnish the image of a man whose only offence is inspiring hope in a disillusioned nation.

This smear campaign will not discredit Makebi Zulu; it will magnify him. Every attempt to malign him only introduces him to thousands of Zambians who now see through the propaganda machine of the ruling elite. The more they attack him, the more they market him as the voice of the new generation, a man unbought, unbroken, and unafraid.

Makebi Zulu brings a breath of fresh air to Zambian politics. He represents the rebirth of the Patriotic Front, a cleaner, reformed, pro-poor, and people-centred movement that stands for integrity, constitutionalism, and the protection of every citizen’s rights. He embodies the future of a corrupt-free, youthful, and competent leadership that has learned from the past and is determined to build a nation anchored on justice, production, and unity.

His loyalty to his principles, humility in service, and calm leadership style have earned him admiration even among his opponents. He has shown what it means to stand by one’s people in their darkest hours, standing with the Lungu family during persecution, speaking up for victims of political intimidation, and defending the constitution when others remained silent.

Zambia needs leaders who can unite the opposition, restore democracy, and return power to the people. Makebi Zulu is that leader. His rise is not a threat to the nation but a promise that Zambia can still be led with honesty, conviction, and courage.

And so, while Zambia Watchdog continues to bark on behalf of its masters, Makebi Zulu continues to walk, calmly and resolutely, toward State House, not as a fugitive, but as the future president of a renewed Zambia.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PRESIDENT’ S TRIP TO TANZANIA- Chomba Kaoma

By Chomba Kaoma

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PRESIDENT’ S TRIP TO TANZANIA

Once upon a time Zambia was almost sliding into a catastrophic energy crisis, the Ship carrying Zambia’s fuel was not cleared for docking. This happened at a time when the Tanzania Port authorities were carrying out some heavy maintenance works on one critical side of the Da la salaam port, which is the main port of business for zambia and Most SADC Nations.

So traffic was directed towards one side of the port with the ship carrying Zambia’s fuel being 19th on the queue now back home we only had fuel stocks that would last us only a week and after that it would have been disastrous because the ship could have only offloaded after 3 weeks.

Now this news came when President Lungu had just departed for Ethiopia leaving energy Minister and his Team in serious Panic. Now the one person who could help save the situation at that moment was Tanzanian President then John Pombe Magufuli who was equally not in state house at that time. He was Visiting remote Area in Tanzania.

Colleagues at state house managed to communicate with Amos Chanda who was airborne with then President Edgar Lungu and explained the situation, Thanks to his quick thinking and immediate reaction Amos Chanda managed to get President Magufuli via satellite Phone while Airborne and President Lungu spoke to him over the situation.

President Magufuli immediately ordered the Port Authorities to prioritize the ship carrying Zambian fuel to dock that’s how our country was saved from a catastrophic moment.

That’s why it is important to keep quiet if you don’t understand the importance of Tanzania/ Zambia b bilateral relationship and the benefits our country continues to enjoy. President HH did well to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan.

May God bless the two countries!!

DR. NEVERS MUMBA DISMISSES CLAIMS OF POSSIBLE ELECTION VIOLENCE IN ZAMBIA.

Speaking in an interview with Prime TV2 News, Dr. Mumba said those predicting violence are individuals unhappy with their political standing and are driven by personal interests rather than the country’s wellbeing.

He says Zambia has its own strong democratic path and is not swayed by external incidents.

The Former Vice President notes that if Zambia waw prone to election-related violence, the country would have witnessed unrest in previous electoral cycles.

Dr. Mumba further says prayer has played a key role in sustaining Zambia’s peace and stability over the years.

He has also expressed hope that Tanzania will maintain peace as its citizens navigate their democratic and leadership processes.

FODEP DEFENDS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S ATTENDANCE AT TANZANIAN PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

FODEP DEFENDS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S ATTENDANCE AT TANZANIAN PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

By Joseph Kaputula

The Foundation for Democratic Process –FODEP- has defended President Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to attend the inauguration of Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu Hassan, citing geopolitical and economic reasons.

Yesterday, Citizens First President Harry Kalaba accused President Hichilema of displaying double standards on matters of election credibility in the region for deciding to attend the inauguration of the Tanzanian president, saying it raises serious questions about Zambia’s commitment to democratic principles.

But in an interview with Phoenix News, FODEP President Mwenda Mumbuna argues that Zambia’s good trade relations with Tanzania, particularly regarding access to the coast, make it essential to maintain bilateral relations.

Mr. Mumbuna emphasized that straining relations with Tanzania would have significant negative economic impacts, suggesting that President Hichilema’s decision should be viewed beyond the electoral perspective.

President Hichilema’s Inauguration Attendance in Tanzania, A Masterclass in Diplomacy, Strategy, and African Unity

President Hichilema’s Inauguration Attendance in Tanzania, A Masterclass in Diplomacy, Strategy, and African Unity

By Tobbius Hamunkoyo- LLB

A section of opposition figures,  among them Dr. Sishuwa Sishuwa, Harry Kalaba, Peter Sinkamba, and others, have today criticized President Hakainde Hichilema for attending the inauguration of Tanzania’s newly elected President. They claim his presence signaled support for a controversial election outcome.

However, such criticism overlooks the principles of international diplomacy and state sovereignty. President Hichilema’s attendance was not about endorsing Tanzania’s electoral process but rather fulfilling a diplomatic duty, as per invitations, the recognition of a sovereign nation’s constitutional transition and Zambia’s role as a regional partner committed to peace and cooperation.

Leadership is about seeing beyond headlines and emotions. President Hichilema’s attendance in Tanzania was a strategic act rooted in economic protection, regional stability, and national interest which is very important, not politics. In his address during the inauguration of Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President emphasized shared economic growth, regional integration, and mutual development. We all must be alive to the fact that Tanzania is not just another neighbor, it is one of Zambia’s most vital economic partners. The two nations are bound by key infrastructures such as TAZARA, TAZAMA, and multiple trade routes that keep Zambia’s imports and exports flowing. As the saying goes, “if Tanzania sneezes, Zambia catches a cold.” Any instability there would directly affect Zambia’s fuel supply, transport sector, jobs, and overall economic balance.

The African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance ACDEG, to which both Zambia and Tanzania are party, provides a clear framework for such engagements. Articles 3 and 17 of the Charter emphasize upholding regular, free, and fair elections, while also respecting the sovereignty and constitutions of fellow states. The Charter promotes cooperation, peace, and unity among African nations.

Thus, President Hichilema’s presence at the ceremony was consistent with Zambia’s commitment to these regional principles, demonstrating mature diplomacy that balances democratic values with non-interference.

It is also crucial to understand that every country has its own political realities, and social media does not always reflect the will of the majority. It is also a notorious fact that Tanzania’s ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi CCM, has been in power since independence in 1961, deeply rooted in the nation’s governance system. Losing power for such a historically dominant party is never an easy process. Therefore, external interpretations, especially those circulating online, should not overshadow the importance of diplomatic respect and long-term economic cooperation between the two countries.

History equally reminds us that President Hichilema’s actions are not unprecedented. Former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu attended John Magufuli’s inauguration in November 2015, following Tanzania’s disputed election. He also attended the inauguration of Emmerson Mnangagwa in November 2017 of Zimbabwe in Harare, an event that Harry Kalaba also attended alongside him, as Emmanuel Mwamba can confirm.

In January 2021, Lungu congratulated Yoweri Museveni after Uganda’s contentious elections and later traveled to Uganda for a work visit. These events prove that Zambia has consistently respected sovereignty in the region, even amid disputed outcomes. Therefore, President Hichilema’s attendance in Tanzania follows the same diplomatic tradition, one that prioritizes national interests, economic stability, and regional solidarity over political gossip or partisan interpretation.

He says there is nothing unusual or controversial about the President’s attendance at the inauguration in Tanzania, noting that the country is Zambia’s neighbour and a valued partner.
