US to leave UNESCO again as Trump continues to pull his country out of international institutions

The United States will leave the United Nations’ culture and education agency Unesco as President Donald Trump continues to pull his country out of international institutions he has long criticised, two European diplomats said.

The move is a blow to the Paris-based agency, founded after World War II to promote peace through international cooperation in education, science, and culture.

The New York Post also reported on the US withdrawal, citing a White House official.

Mr Trump took similar steps during his first term, quitting the World Health Organisation, the UN Human Rights Council, a global climate change accord and the Iran nuclear deal.

Mr Joe Biden reversed those decisions after taking office in 2021, returning the US to UNESCO, the WHO, and the climate agreement.

With Mr Trump now back in the White House, the US is once again pulling out of these global bodies. He has already decided to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO and halt funding to the Palestinian relief agency UNRWA as part of a review of the U.S.’ participation in UN agencies, due to be concluded in August.

UNESCO is best known for designating World Heritage Sites, including the Grand Canyon in the United States and the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria.

The United States initially joined UNESCO at its founding in 1945 but withdrew for the first time in 1984 in protest against alleged financial mismanagement and perceived anti-U.S. bias, returning almost 20 years later in 2003 under President George W. Bush, who then said the agency had undertaken needed reforms.

Republicans at a breaking point with Trump as base demands they ‘stand up’

0

The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee told MSNBC on Tuesday night that his Republican colleagues are at a breaking point with President Donald Trump.

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) joined Jen Psaki on “The Briefing” to discuss the House GOP leadership sending lawmakers home.

“Speaker Mike Johnson basically sent everybody home. There are some drawbacks for Republicans in that regard — not things you might like or vote for — but he sent everyone home because he didn’t want them to move forward, or didn’t want the House to move forward on voting to release the Epstein files. He’s hoping, I guess, that he will outlast everyone through August. Do you think he can?”

Garcia said he “absolutely” doesn’t think Johnson can outlast the pressure from the media, the MAGA base and Democrats.

“The American public are seeing that Donald Trump has betrayed them. He’s broken their trust,” Garcia said, noting that Trump campaigned partially on the promise to release the Epstein files.

“And if Donald Trump or Mike Johnson think Democrats are just going to roll over and allow that to happen, they are highly mistaken,” he added.

When Psaki countered that they think Republicans will “roll over and let that happen,” Garcia said he wasn’t so sure.

“I don’t think that’s going to happen either. And I’m talking to not just Republicans on our Oversight Committee, but Republicans across Congress. There’s a lot that are just keeping their mouths shut right now. But they’re very concerned that their base and supporters back home are demanding them to stand up to Donald Trump in this moment,” he said.

Garcia warned Trump hasn’t heard the last from Republican lawmakers — or his base.

“I’m going to have more and more Republicans come out and demand the release. And what Tim Burchett has done, what Tom Massie is doing — which we’re going to support that discharge petition. We are going to get a full vote of that release when we come back,” he vowed.

Garcia added that Trump’s “base is beginning to stand up to him.” He stressed it’s vitally important for Democrats to recognize and capitalize on the moment, despite what else is happening in government.

“Yes, we need to focus on health care. Yes, we need to focus on tax breaks for the rich, which we oppose. But this is about corruption. At the end of the day, this leans into Americans’ understanding that Donald Trump is corrupt. He’s not for you. He will lie to you. He will betray you. And he’s only in it to save himself. And that’s what this moment is about.

Iran confirms US Strikes seriously damaged Nuclear Sites

Iran’s nuclear facilities were “seriously damaged” by recent U.S. airstrikes, but the regime remains determined to resume uranium enrichment once reconstruction is complete, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed in an interview aired Monday.

Speaking to Fox News’ Special Report host Bret Baier, Araghchi acknowledged the extent of the damage caused by the June 22 strikes ordered by President Donald Trump on three key uranium enrichment sites in Iran.

“Our facilities have been damaged — seriously damaged , the extent of which is now under evaluation,” he said. “The facilities have been destroyed,” Araghchi added, noting that Iran has been unable to refine nuclear fuel since the attack.

Despite the significant setback, Araghchi was adamant that Iran would not abandon its nuclear ambitions, which he described as both a scientific achievement and a matter of national pride.

“It is now stopped because, yes, damages are serious and severe,” he said. “But obviously, we cannot give up our enrichment, because it is an achievement of our own scientists. And now, more than that, it is a question of national pride.”

Araghchi firmly rejected the idea of agreeing to any new nuclear deal with the U.S. that would prohibit uranium enrichment, a process that, while legally allowed under international law for peaceful purposes, is also key to developing nuclear weapons.

“If the goal is to make sure that Iran will never have nuclear weapons, that is achievable,” he said. “But if the goal is to deprive Iran of its rights, including the right of enrichment, I think we have difficulty.”

“Enrichment is now stopped because our facilities have been under attack, but any settlement for Iran’s nuclear program should include enrichment in the future, because that is our right. We can never give it up.”

The interview aired shortly after Trump posted on Truth Social, celebrating the success of the strikes and criticizing media outlets that had downplayed their impact.

“Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, on the Iran Nuclear Sites: ‘Damages are very severe, they are destroyed.’ Of course they are, just like I said, and we will do it again, if necessary!” Trump wrote.

He added: “Fake News CNN should immediately fire their phony ‘reporter’ and apologize to me and the great pilots who ‘OBLITERATED’ Iran’s nuclear sites. CNN is a major ratings loser, as is MSDNC!”

Despite the physical destruction of the sites, Araghchi emphasized that Iran retains the expertise, scientific personnel, and technical know-how to restart the program once facilities are reconstructed.

“It is developed by ourselves. It is an achievement by ourselves,” he said. “The technology is there. The scientists are there. The people who have run these facilities are there. Buildings can be rebuilt. Facilities can be rebuilt. Machines can be replaced.”

He added, “The recent attack proved that there is no military option for our nuclear program.”

Satellite images released by Maxar Technologies show visible craters and extensive damage at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, one of Iran’s most fortified nuclear sites.

When asked about the status of Iran’s existing stockpile of enriched uranium, Araghchi claimed he had “no detailed information” on whether it was destroyed in the strikes.

Araghchi also dismissed the possibility of Iran scaling back its ballistic missile program or ceasing support for proxy militant groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

“They are fighting for a just cause, and we have always supported them,” he said. “On our missiles… that is our most reliable means of defense. How can we disarm ourselves? Who can accept anything like that?”

While expressing openness to future negotiations, Araghchi stated that Iran is not currently interested in direct talks with the Trump administration — unless it is a “win-win” engagement.

“We are open to talks — not direct for the time being,” he said. “If they are coming for a win-win solution, I am ready to engage with them.”

Trump, for his part, has consistently maintained that any future deal with Iran must include a full ban on uranium enrichment and a dismantling of its missile programs.

Hunter Biden claims that his father Joe Biden was on ‘ambien’ during disastrous 2024 debate with Trump

Hunter Biden has revealed that his father, Joe Biden, may have been under the influence of Ambien during his widely criticized 2024 debate performance against Donald Trump.

In a new interview with YouTube personality Andrew Callaghan, Hunter stated, “I know exactly what happened in that debate. He flew around the world. He’s 81 years old. He’s tired. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep and he gets up on the stage and looks like a deer in the headlights.”

The timing of when the former president consumed the prescription sleep aid remains unclear. According to FDA guidelines, older adults are at a higher risk of experiencing lingering drowsiness from Ambien due to slower drug metabolism.

The debate in question, held on July 27, 2024, was seen by millions as a turning point in Biden’s re-election campaign. He appeared disengaged for long stretches and famously mumbled that he had “finally beat Medicare,” triggering public and political backlash. Hours before the event, Biden spent over four hours secluded at a nearby hotel, arriving late to inspect the CNN debate stage.

Following his poor showing, Biden faced growing pressure from within the Democratic Party to drop out of the race.

Hunter recalled the internal threats, saying, “They said, ‘We are going to blow up the party if you don’t drop out… all the way up to the convention.’”

Hunter Biden claims former US President Biden was on ?ambien? during disastrous 2024 debate with Trump

Biden officially stepped aside on July 21, 2024, endorsing then-Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket.

While Ambien use is common among older adults, it was notably absent from Biden’s public medical reports. A February 2024 memo from presidential physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor listed six medications Biden was taking — none of which included Ambien. A review of publicly available medical records also yielded no reference to an Ambien prescription.

O’Connor, a longtime Biden confidant, later invoked his Fifth Amendment rights during questioning by a House committee. His actions drew criticism across party lines, especially after Biden was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in May — a condition many argued should have been detected earlier.

Hunter also sought to downplay the magnitude of Democratic defections after the debate, suggesting only a few notable figures like Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi failed to offer full support.

“The entirety of the progressive side of the Democratic Party said Joe Biden has got more of our agenda accomplished in four years than any president in history,” he asserted.

Despite a post-debate effort to reassure party leaders including a televised interview and press conference — Biden’s challenges deepened. At a July 12 media event, he mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “Vladimir,” prompting renewed concerns about his cognitive state.

DOJ move stuns legal expert as Epstein controversy deepens

President Donald Trump’s Justice Department is behaving unusually and improperly with their sudden move to question convicted former Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, legal expert Lisa Rubin told MSNBC’s “The Beat” on Tuesday evening.

“What are we to make of [Deputy Attorney General] Todd Blanche taking this move to try to meet with Maxwell in the coming days?” asked anchor Antonia Hylton.

“It’s bizarre,” said Rubin. “Because when he said in his tweet this morning announcing that he had made the offer, no administration has ever done something like that. That’s because it would be highly, highly unusual. And it is for any political appointee to go visit a convicted felon, much less a felon … indicted by Trump’s Justice Department.”

“These were investigations started on President Trump’s watch during his first term,” Rubin continued. “So the fact that Todd Blanche is saying now, no administration has ever done this, that’s because it is untoward and bizarre for the political leadership of the Department of Justice to visit with any convicted felon in a case that they otherwise supported. And as recently as last week, this Department of Justice submitted a brief to the Supreme Court in which they defended the conviction and said that it needed to stand. That’s a brief submitted by John Sauer, the solicitor general, who was also a former lawyer, in a personal capacity, to President Trump, just like Todd Blanche. So now, watching them sort of undercut that move seems really strange to me.”

What makes this even more strange, she said, is “why are they not going back to the well of unsealed materials from civil litigations?”

“There are multiple civil cases that have been filed in which various people, including Maxwell and Epstein themselves, were deposed,” Rubin continued. “Much of that material has been unsealed with appropriate redactions. If people want to know more about theoretical Johns, as you put it, lots of that information is public for the taking with anyone, for anyone with a computer or a phone and a PACER password, or the ability to find public court filings that’s there.”

US govt agency to use AI to increase ‘efficiency’ of jobs

The United States Office of Public Management has revealed plans to use AI to increase the “efficiency” of jobs in its quest to downsize the US government.

Scott Kupor, the agency’s new director, told reporters on Monday, July 21, that he has a “Silicon Valley” mentality when it comes to motivating employees and maximizing performance, and is looking to integrate AI into some of the agency’s tasks.

“I view AI as probably the most significant disinflationary technology that I think we have seen yet today,” Kupor told The Post in a meeting with reporters.

“What I mean by that is basically AI, however, you deploy it, it’s not gonna replace everybody’s jobs, but I think AI can massively increase the efficiency of a lot of jobs, and certainly, as we know, it’ll probably create new job opportunities as well.”

While AI won’t be used to cut jobs outright, the agency has been working to drastically downsize its number of employees.

OPM is on track to cut one-third of its staff by Dec. 31, largely through voluntary departures, from 3,110 employees to around 2,000.

The number of contractors used by OPM is also set to be slashed from 1,200 to about 600, the agency said.

Kupor mentioned customer service and information combing like going through the tens of thousands of comments the agency gets as some of the tasks potentially fit for artificial technology.

Kupor said its “hard to imagine that in a few years we won’t be able to “significantly increase the efficiency of the comment reading process by at least having some of that summarization, some of the kind of information gathering, information dissemination being enhanced by AI.”

As the agency’s new head, he said he wants OPM employees to be “prepared” for work in an AI “forward way” as President Trump has made clear he wants the US to be the global leader in AI innovation.

“I think it’s a good bet that the types of jobs that we will need five or 10 years from now will be different. The types of skills we will need will be different. And I’d like to make sure that as we think about … the recruitment and talent pipeline for government,” he said.

AUDIO LANDS IN SA COURT…Lungu family reports leaked audio to South African High Court

AUDIO LANDS IN SA COURT

…ECL family reports leaked audio to South African High Court

We have the audio of a senior minister in President Hakainde Hichilema’s government and one of his surrogates exposing the plan to bribe the judge handling the matter, says Makebi Zulu.

By Mast Reporter

FORMER Zambia president Edgar Lungu’s family has instructed its lawyers to report today to the South African High Court in Pretoria the leaked audio discussing the repatriation of the late former head of state’s body.

The sensational audio, which has been widely shared and circulated on social media, reveals a long conversation between a Zambian minister and an opposition member of Parliament (MP) with very close ties with State House.

LUBINDA CHALLENGES PRESIDENT HICHILEMA OVER ALLEGED AUDIO LEAK

Patriotic Front (PF) Acting President Given Lubinda has challenged President Hakainde Hichilema to publicly respond to allegations stemming from a leaked audio recording, which allegedly implicates him in a plot to bribe South African judges and destabilize the PF using Mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga.

Mr. Lubinda has called for the immediate arrest of Mr. Chabinga, claiming the audio reveals a conversation in which the MP allegedly boasts about receiving instructions directly from the President, who is said to have called him 12 times.

Describing the alleged remarks as “a direct assault on Zambia’s sovereignty” and “a provocation of democratic institutions,” Mr. Lubinda questioned why investigative agencies such as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), and the Zambia Police have not acted on what he terms a self-incriminating disclosure.

When contacted for a comment, State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka distanced State House from the contents of the audio.

On Monday, Mr. Chabinga dismissed the recording as AI-generated.

TONSE ALLIANCE TO PETITION CHABINGA’S SEAT

TONSE Alliance acting Chairman Given Lubinda has disclosed that the Alliance will petition the courts of law to declare the Mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga’s seat vacant.

This follows Mr Chabinga’s alleged involvement in a recent leaked audio with cabinet minister Doreen Mwamba which has gone viral where the two are heard suggesting to bribe South African judges in the ECL repatriation case.

Speaking at a media briefing, Mr. Lubinda who is also Patriotic Front –PF acting President says Mr. Chabinga will be reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Drug Enforcement Commission for investigation.

Mr. Lubinda expressed displeasure by the viral audio adding that this clearly shows that the UPND government is working to destroy the PF party.

He has also appealed to the South African government to protect the Lungu family and allow them to mourn the former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu in dignity, peace, and with a befitting burial.

Mr Lubinda emphasizes that Mr. Chabinga has no authority to speak on behalf of the party urging the United Nations to investigate the happenings in the country.

He further states that the PF to which the former president belonged is still united and stands with the Lungu family adding that the late former President Lungu’s Plan B is not dead but still alive.

Mr Lubinda has also called on other opposition political parties to partner with the Alliance for the betterment of the country.

QUESTIONS ZAMBIA MUST ASK: CHABINGA, THE LEAKED AUDIO, AND THE CRISIS OF INTEGRITY

QUESTIONS ZAMBIA MUST ASK: CHABINGA, THE LEAKED AUDIO, AND THE CRISIS OF INTEGRITY

By Dr Mwelwa

Is Zambia once again witnessing the dangerous fusion of power and impunity — where political actors allegedly conspire across borders to manipulate justice in pursuit of partisan ends? Has the leaked audio involving Hon. Robert Chabinga unveiled not just an isolated scandal, but a deeper crisis of moral judgment and governance ethics within the corridors of power?

Who really authorized the alleged mission to South Africa? If the voice is indeed Chabinga’s — a man already embroiled in legal disputes over the PF presidency — on whose behalf was he allegedly acting? Is he, as the audio implies, acting with State backing? Or is he a rogue actor exploiting political tensions for personal leverage?

And what should we make of his alleged boast that President Hakainde Hichilema personally contacted him to coordinate this mission? Is this a legitimate claim, or a strategic fabrication to inflate his own importance? If false, why hasn’t the President’s Office taken decisive steps to clarify and distance itself from Chabinga’s claims beyond broad dismissals?

Has the presidency — the most sacred institution of national leadership — been morally compromised by its proximity, real or perceived, to such shadowy characters? Is it worth risking the image of the government by associating with political figures whose reputations are tainted by allegations of dishonesty, manipulation, and now possibly cross-border judicial interference?

If this is the calibre of people the State is willing to entrust with sensitive missions, what does this say about our national security protocols, intelligence vetting systems, and ethical standards of appointment?

Why would a government that prides itself on fighting corruption, transparency, and democracy choose someone like Chabinga — who has previously been accused of undermining intra-party democracy — to handle such a sensitive, possibly diplomatic, engagement?

Legally, does discussing or orchestrating plans to influence foreign judges amount to conspiracy or attempted corruption? Under South African law — particularly the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act — such intentions can trigger prosecution even if the act was never carried out.

Could Zambia face diplomatic fallout with South Africa, especially if Pretoria demands answers on whether its judiciary was being targeted? Could this saga strain SADC cooperation and invite scrutiny from the African Union and international observers?

If indeed this was an AI-generated fake, why has Chabinga not publicly submitted a forensic analysis of the audio to clear his name? If this is a case of deepfake manipulation, then a criminal complaint under Zambia’s Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act (2021) should be filed immediately. But if not — what accountability mechanisms are in place to deal with political operatives who undermine both foreign diplomacy and domestic unity?

What precedent does this set for future political behavior? If politicians now act as secret agents to destabilize legal systems, what protection remains for judicial independence, both at home and abroad?

What does this saga mean for the broader morality of governance under the UPND? Is this the “new dawn” administration’s true face — dealing in political mercenaries, shadow diplomacy, and secret missions — while preaching rule of law in public?

And crucially: Who benefits from these leaks, and why now? Is Chabinga a political pawn, a freelance operator, or a key part of a broader state-sponsored disinformation campaign?

The public deserves clarity, not silence.

Zambia cannot afford the luxury of shrugging off these questions. The longer the truth is obscured, the more damage is done — to our democratic institutions, our international credibility, and our moral foundations.

If this government stands for transparency and justice, then now is the time to act:

An independent commission must investigate the origin and content of the audio.

The President must issue a direct, detailed response.

And Chabinga must publicly submit himself to scrutiny, legal or otherwise.

Because when leaders are silent in the face of scandal, they speak volumes — and not in their favour.

Nevers  Mumba gives an account and justification for why he proceeded with his actions on Chris Zumani  as opposed to forgiveness as a Man of God

Dr Nevers Sekwila Mumba writes….

…gives an account and justification for why he proceeded with his actions on Chris Zumani Zimba as opposed to forgiveness as a Man of God.

FORGIVENESS VRS ACCOUNTABILITY

To my friends, family, and supporters,

Chris Zumani Zimba, a former Special Assistant to President Edgar Lungu, has been arrested for cyber crimes and libel. Some of you have reached out to me about this, given his previous articles about me.

Some have asked, “Why not just forgive him?” As a servant of God, I believe in forgiveness, but I also believe in justice. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us” (1 John 1:9). But repentance is key. Unfortunately, when we approached Mr. Zimba, and asked him to retract his damaging statements, he showed, and has continued to show, no signs of remorse. Only arrogance.

Consider a scenario where a Christian man’s home is attacked, and his wife is killed. Would it be right to let the perpetrators just go free because Christians should forgive without accountability? Wouldn’t that be an act of irresponsibility? Remember that justice demands that we must protect the vulnerable and hold wrongdoers accountable.

Similarly, as leaders, we must provide guidance by standing up for truth, integrity, and morality. We must hold accountable those who spread lies and harm others. As Christians, we’re called to promote righteousness and justice.

As the African proverb goes, “When you pray, move your feet.” We’re not just praying for change; we’re also taking action. From now on, we will take a stand against anyone that lies against, insults or abuses us. We will deposit all these attrocities into the National Bank of Justice where the competent Adjudictors will fairly Judge and erect the correct beacons of justice and fair conduct for posterity and for the sake of our children and their children.

This is the only way our long time vision of Zambia Shall be Saved can be realized. To mop up Zambian society of hate, abuse and other ungodly vices that have plagued our Christian Nation.

We do this, not because it benefits us, but because it’s part of what we’ve been called to do. To build a Christian nation anchored on love, respect, and better lives for all, we must clean up our engagement on national and public issues. Respect, truth, and reconciliation are crucial.

Continue praying for us as we continue to advocate for a return to politics that advances morality, integrity, and mutual respect.

I thank you.

CHABINGA AUDIO IGNITES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE STORM AND POLITICAL RECKONING

THE GIST | CHABINGA AUDIO IGNITES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE STORM AND POLITICAL RECKONING

Social media platforms are ablaze following the circulation of an audio recording purported to feature Patriotic Front faction leader Robert Chabinga and a female cabinet minister. The content of the recording, if authentic, suggests a covert discussion on the repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu’s remains, including alleged attempts to improperly influence judicial proceedings in South Africa.

The recording appears to allude to bribes being extended to a South African judge and outlines a strategy aimed at easing diplomatic tensions through underhanded means. The alleged conversation has since triggered an avalanche of public reaction and fierce political positioning.

Mr. Chabinga has responded with urgency. He has stated that the audio is entirely fabricated using artificial intelligence technology. He further disclosed that he has reported the matter to law enforcement and has instructed his legal team to pursue litigation against those involved in its distribution.

“This is a criminal offence under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act,” Mr. Chabinga wrote.

“Let Emmanuel Mwamba and his collaborators, such as Sishuwa Sishuwa, understand that the law is closing in. They will not remain outside the country forever.”

However, opposition parliamentarian Binwell Mpundu has pushed back, insisting that artificial intelligence cannot be used as a blanket excuse without transparency.

“Another country is implicated. This matter cannot be dismissed with a vague statement,” Mr. Mpundu said.
“The government must publish the findings that led to the conclusion that this audio was created using artificial intelligence. That is the standard in any credible society.”

Adding to the debate, United Party for National Development Media Director Mark Simuuwe provided a brief explanation of the power of generative artificial intelligence.

“AI can replicate any voice. Once a short audio sample is obtained, it can be trained to mimic any language, tone or sound including animal noises,” Mr. Simuuwe stated.

Meanwhile, the Given Lubinda-led faction of the Patriotic Front has rejected the artificial intelligence defense entirely. They have accused the current administration of diplomatic sabotage and of concealing acts of corruption behind the façade of emerging technology.

As this firestorm unfolds, another political actor has resurfaced under difficult circumstances. Self-exiled politician Chilufya Tayali has confirmed from Malaysia that he is battling a medical emergency.

“I have suffered a burst appendix. Please keep me in your prayers as I await surgery,” Mr. Tayali posted from his hospital bed

The controversy surrounding the leaked recording has once again highlighted the precarious intersection between technology, accountability, and political ethics in Zambia. With artificial intelligence now a tool in both manipulation and misinformation, the country faces critical questions about transparency, justice, and the future of its democratic institutions.

CSOS CALL FOR IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF LANDS AND DEEDS REGISTRY (AMENDMENT) BILL

CSOS CALL FOR IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF LANDS AND DEEDS REGISTRY (AMENDMENT) BILL

A consortium of 11 Civil Society Organizations’ working on governance and the rule of law is calling on government to immediately withdraw the Lands and Deeds Registry (Amendment) Bill No. 13 of 2025.

Consortium Chairperson Isaac Mwanza says this is because the proposed amendment threatens to fundamentally undermine the security of land tenure in Zambia by shifting critical judicial responsibilities to politically vulnerable civil servants.

Mr. Mwanza says of specific concern is the proposed provision to grant the chief registrar of lands, who is a civil servant, the discretionary power to cancel certificates of title, arguing that this is a departure from the current legal framework, where such decisions lie with the judiciary, an independent and constitutionally protected arm of government.

He explains that allowing an appointed official to unilaterally revoke a certificate of title will weaken the judiciary, encourage political interference, and introduce anarchy into land tenure administration.

Mr. Mwanza is of the view that this change risks sending a chilling message to investors, especially that investors place confidence in countries where land tenure is secure and protected by the rule of law.

The consortium has since urged Members of Parliament to rise to the occasion, as passing this Bill without due consideration will not only mark another failure, but will also expose even those in the executive and legislature to the very abuse of power this law would permit.

VOTERS URGED TO REJECT EMOTIONAL VOTING AND EMBRACE DISCERNMENT

VOTERS URGED TO REJECT EMOTIONAL VOTING AND EMBRACE DISCERNMENT

Lusaka… Tuesday July 22, 2025 – In a special segment on his current affairs program ‘Politics Aside’, host Charlie The-engineer Simusokwe has called on citizens to reflect deeply on the quality of their political choices, warning that emotional voting driven by dislike for certain candidates could have damaging consequences for national development.

Speaking candidly on the show, Charlie noted that many people have adopted the mindset: “As long as it’s not him, I’ll vote for anyone.”

He questioned the logic behind such an approach, urging voters to consider what kind of politics–and ultimately, what kind of country–that mentality was building.

Charlie explained that elections should ideally be a contest of ideas, vision, and competence.

However, he observed that increasingly, people were casting their votes not in support of a candidate, but simply in opposition to someone they disliked.

He warned that this trend lowers the standards for leadership, allowing unqualified individuals to assume powerful roles.

“When we elect someone who has no clue how to lead–just to block someone we dislike–what happens then?” he asked, highlighting the real-world implications of such decisions, especially in countries across Africa, including Zambia.

He went on to criticize what he described as a dangerous collapse of political standards.

According to him, political decisions were now being driven by the desire to exclude rather than to elevate capable leaders.

He lamented that voters were being guided by revenge, silence, and ego rather than by competence and progress.

Charlie challenged listeners to ask hard, uncomfortable questions.

He encouraged them to differentiate between personal dislike and actual incompetence, emphasizing that it is possible to dislike someone while still acknowledging their ability to lead effectively.

“When we let personal dislike blind us to effectiveness, we open the door to mediocrity–or worse,” he said.

“And mediocrity in leadership is never neutral. It costs jobs. It costs progress. It costs lives.”

He appealed to voters to put their country above their egos and to raise the bar for leadership.

He warned that simply seeking to block an unpopular figure did not harm the individual as much as it damaged the nation.

Charlie concluded the segment with a plea for discernment. He urged citizens to vote intentionally, based on informed judgment, not fleeting emotion or pride.

“Democracy gives us a choice,” he said. “But choice only matters when it’s informed, intentional, and principled.”

CHIPATA MOTORBIKE RIDERS REGISTER EN MASSE AFTER RTSA CRACKDOWN

CHIPATA MOTORBIKE RIDERS REGISTER EN MASSE AFTER RTSA CRACKDOWN

Over 400 motorbike riders in Chipata, Eastern Province, have registered their bikes with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA).

This is out of 700 motorbikes that were impounded by the RTSA due to non-compliance.

The registration drive is part of an ongoing 10-day safety awareness and enforcement initiative focused on ensuring that riders adhere to safety standards—a growing concern amid rising accident rates in the city.

Chipata Mayor George Mwanza, who addressed the affected motorbike riders, emphasized the importance of compliance, noting that riders were the main contributors to several accidents in the city.

Meanwhile, Zambia Police Traffic Assistant Superintendent Chigonke Muyunda advised riders to avoid riding or parking their bikes between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM, citing increased vulnerability to criminal activity during these hours.

One of the riders, Gift Moyo from Magazine Compound, pleaded with RTSA to grant a grace period for registration.

NALOLO MP WARNS POLITICAL DETRACTORS

NALOLO MP WARNS POLITICAL DETRACTORS

Nalolo… Tuesday July 22, 2025 – Nalolo Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Imanga Wamunyima, has issued a stern warning to individuals he described as politicians masquerading as civil servants, accusing them of attempting to derail the work of elected leaders.

In a statement, Hon. Wamunyima urged the individuals to desist from actions that undermine the constitutional mandate of public officials.

He cautioned them that neither intimidation nor hiding behind the civil service would protect them from accountability.

He stated that those who believed invoking the name of the President would shield them from consequences were mistaken and “on their own.”

He emphasized that civility should not be mistaken for weakness, warning that if provoked, he and his team would respond accordingly—“blow for blow, fact for fact.”

Meanwhile, Hon. Wamunyima expressed gratitude to the people of Nalolo for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his work with the trust of his constituents at heart.

DJ Sumbody murder weapons linked to 10 other high-profile cases

DJ Sumbody murder weapons linked to 10 other high-profile cases

Police have confirmed a chilling development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of amapiano pioneer Oupa John Sefoka, widely known as DJ Sumbody.

The firearms used in his assassination have been forensically linked to at least 10 other high-profile murder and attempted murder cases across Gauteng.

This revelation came just after authorities arrested four suspects believed to be involved in DJ Sumbody’s killing, which took place in November 2022 in Woodmead, Johannesburg.

The suspects were apprehended following a breakthrough by the SAPS Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.

According to sources close to the investigation, ballistics analysis has tied the recovered firearms to a series of violent crimes, including alleged gang hits, assassination-style killings, and attempted murders, some of which have remained unsolved for years. This discovery points to a broader web of organised criminal activity.

Investigators believe that the group behind these crimes may have operated as a syndicate for hire, executing hits on behalf of clients with various motives, ranging from personal feuds to business rivalries.

The families of some of the victims expressed hope that this development could bring long-overdue justice in their cases.

Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with further arrests and charges likely as they piece together connections between the cases.

Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene has confirmed to eNCA that he was at Katiso “KT” Molefe’s Sandton home during Molefe’s arrest yesterday, July 21, 2025, in connection with DJ Sumbody’s murder.

Kunene said he was there to accompany journalists for an interview and that Molefe was aware of the visit.

Kunene was not arrested and left after providing a statement to police.

Kenny Kunene found at home of DJ Sumbody murder accused

Patriotic Alliance deputy president and City of Johannesburg Transport MMC Kenny Kunene was found at the Sandton residence of Katiso “KT” Molefe when police executed a raid on Monday morning, News24 reports.

Molefe, accused of orchestrating the 2022 murder of amapiano star Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka, was arrested at the opulent property. Kunene was reportedly awaiting a scheduled meeting with Molefe at the time of the raid.

According to sources, Kunene was not detained. He remained on scene briefly to provide a statement and was subsequently released. No charges have been levelled against him. Molefe, who allegedly led a hired hit team in the brutal killing of DJ Sumbody, was taken into custody and has already appeared in court today.

This unexpected intersection of a high‑ranking political figure and a murder suspect has stirred speculation about the nature of their association.

The arrest is part of a broader police operation linked to the high-profile investigation. Authorities are continuing to urge the public to come forward with information that could aid in the unraveling of this complex case.

Breakthrough in DJ Sumbody case, Mkhwanazi praised for bold revelations

Breakthrough in DJ Sumbody case, Mkhwanazi praised for bold revelations

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the 2022 murder of amapiano star Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka, reigniting public focus on Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s earlier revelations about stalled investigations into killings of Gauteng artists.

The suspects, including Sandton businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe, believed to have orchestrated the hit were taken into custody on 21 July.

A seized firearm has been linked to other high-profile killings, including the 2024 murder of engineer Armand Swart. The group is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court today on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Although Mkhwanazi is not leading the investigation, his 6 July media briefing is now seen as a turning point. At the time, he stated that police knew the identities of suspects in several artist killings but had made no arrests, blaming interference and the complexity of cases linked to a Gauteng-based criminal syndicate involving politicians and business figures.

Social media users and artists have since praised Mkhwanazi for his candour. The Limpopo Artists Movement called his comments a “wake-up call,” while others hailed him as a rare voice of transparency in law enforcement.

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has applauded the work of Gauteng’s organised crime unit and the Political Killings Task Team behind the breakthrough.

The arrests mark progress in a case that had long frustrated fans and the entertainment industry, though Mkhwanazi’s warnings serve as a reminder of the broader challenges in dismantling entrenched criminal networks.

Burial of late President Edgar Lungu

Why We Are Advocating as Progressive Forces

There is a troubling trend among African leaders who loot their nations’ resources while in power and subsequently transfer their stolen wealth to foreign countries. Many hide their ill-gotten gains in the USA, Europe, and more recently, the UAE. We are coming to realize that South Africa has become a haven for these looters on the continent.

In the last national elections, we witnessed Zambian youth turning out in large numbers to vote for change. They didn’t just cast their ballots; they stood by the voting stations and followed their votes to the counting centers, as they were frustrated and eager for a change from the previous regime.

We learned about the passing of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu through social media. We anticipated that his remains would be returned to Zambia for the people to mourn him.

However, on June 18, as SANDF and various media outlets were deployed for the send-off, we were surprised by breaking news from Newsroom Africa reporting that his family chose to bury him in South Africa instead.

This prompted us to engage with fellow SADC residents on social media and hold discussions to understand the situation better.

However, as is often the case in Africa, we encountered a mix of unfounded stories regarding the misuse of leaders’ body parts for power, rather than concrete explanations.

This behavior was perplexing to us as a movement. We
began researching and read various articles. A credible source informed us about the circumstances surrounding the former president’s arrival.

He entered South Africa on January 19, 2025, using a Zambian diplomatic passport (document number: D0013831), which granted him a 90-day stay until April 19, 2025. It is noteworthy that upon his arrival, he was picked up from the Departure Terminal in a high-end blue Audi Q7, the registration of which is understood to belong to a Zambian businessman in South Africa.

Contradicting claims that he was picked up by a taxi. Why would a traveler be collected from the Departure Terminal instead of the Arrival Terminal? From the media, we learned that the former president was granted immunity from various cases opened by the current government, although legal issues may still pertain to his immediate family members. Our intention is not to attack the Lungu family; rather, we urge them to clear their names and return to Zambia. We firmly believe that there is no justification for Mr. Lungu to be buried in a foreign country when he served the Zambian people. The Zambians deserve the opportunity to mourn their leader.

As South Africans, we have yet to adequately address land issues stemming from colonization and apartheid. We claim land based on ancestral lineage, and graves are a significant instrument in these claims.

What implications might arise in the future if the Lungu family were to use their grandfather’s grave to assert land claims in South Africa? We share a deep-rooted history with Zambia from the Struggle era. It is one of the few countries that supported our exiles, and we cannot remain silent when the future of the Zambian people is jeopardized by a handful of elites.

We encourage Edgar Lungu’s family to return to Zambia and lay his remains to rest among his people, providing the answers Zambians deserve. We urge the Zambian government to repatriate the former president’s remains. Mr. Lungu does not belong solely to the Lungu family; he belongs to all Zambians.

Sincerely,

LEAKED AUDIO RAISES QUESTIONS ON GOVERNANCE, DIPLOMACY, AND INTEGRITY UNDER UPND GOVERNMENT- Sensio Banda

LEAKED AUDIO RAISES QUESTIONS ON GOVERNANCE, DIPLOMACY, AND INTEGRITY UNDER UPND GOVERNMENT

A recently leaked phone conversation, allegedly involving Hon. Robert Chabinga and Minister of Community Development Hon. Doreen Mwamba, has sparked significant public concern and reignited debates about transparency and governance under UPND government. The audio, which has circulated widely online, appears to reveal a discussion about a so-called special mission to South Africa aimed at influencing judicial proceedings involving the family of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu (ECL). It also highlights alleged internal disagreements within the ruling party concerning Bill 7 and criticism of the Minister of Justice.

While State House has strongly dismissed the recording as fabricated, and some members of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) claim it was artificially generated using AI technology, Hon. Robert Chabinga has also warned of legal action against anyone alleging that it is indeed his voice in the circulating audio. However, the legal, political, and diplomatic impact of the audio remains significant.

It is important to emphasize that even the mere planning or discussion of attempting to bribe judges in South Africa constitutes a serious legal offense. Such actions may contravene South Africa’s anti-corruption legislation, specifically the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act. Additionally, they could violate international legal standards, including the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, which both Zambia and South Africa have ratified.

The potential legal repercussions could include contempt of court proceedings in South Africa, legal or diplomatic sanctions against Zambian officials, and increased scrutiny of the case involving former President Edgar Lungu’s family and the Zambian government. Regardless of whether the alleged mission was executed, the mere existence of such allegations risks undermining the credibility of Zambia’s legal engagements abroad.

The audio further claims that President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) sought direct communication with Hon. Chabinga regarding the alleged operation, while also indicating that he was secretly engaging in talks with the Lungu family. However, a spokesperson for the Lungu family has publicly denied the existence of any such discussions. This contradiction could deepen existing tensions and mistrust between the two sides, complicating efforts toward national reconciliation and unity. It also threatens to erode public confidence in the government’s ability to bridge political divides and may suggest a lack of coherence in its overall approach.

The suggestion that Zambian political actors may have intended to influence South African judges is not only a legal matter; it carries significant diplomatic weight. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961), such interference is viewed as a breach of mutual respect and state sovereignty.

Potential diplomatic consequences could include formal protests or official inquiries from South Africa, a deterioration in legal and political cooperation between the two countries, and damage to Zambia’s reputation within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the wider international community.

The recording also appears to reveal discontent among cabinet members and UPND parliamentarians regarding Bill 7 and the performance of the Justice Minister. This suggests growing internal division, which could weaken the administration’s ability to pass important legislative reforms.

More broadly, the idea that an untrained political figure may have been entrusted with a sensitive operation raises serious governance concerns: Has the line between politics and national security become blurred? Why was such an operation not handled through official intelligence channels? What does this reveal about decision-making and advisory structures within the presidency?

The leak, regardless of its origin, indicates lapses in communication security and raises questions about the handling of confidential matters within government.

While the origins of the audio remain contested, the resulting damage is real. Public trust is critical to good governance, and Zambia’s international image must be preserved through transparency and accountability.

More importantly, it is advisable to launch an independent investigation to verify the authenticity of the recording. The President should also publicly distance himself from any actions or individuals implicated in the matter. Additionally, providing diplomatic clarification to South Africa would help preserve bilateral relations. An internal review of intelligence operations and decision-making protocols should also be undertaken to strengthen institutional accountability.

Zambia’s democracy depends not just on laws and institutions, but on the public’s trust in leadership. The leaked audio has exposed serious concerns that must be addressed swiftly and transparently. It is now up to President HH and his administration to demonstrate a commitment to accountability, professionalism, and national unity values that are essential for the country’s stability and progress.

CITIZEN FIRST  PLANS TO REPORT TRANSCRIBED LEAKED AUDIO CONTENT TO SOUTH AFRICAN AUTHORITIES

CF PLANS TO REPORT TRANSCRIBED LEAKED AUDIO CONTENT TO SOUTH AFRICAN AUTHORITIES

Lusaka, July 21 – The Citizens First leadership is appalled by the  continued desperation, deception and dirty tactics by the ruling UPND administration to sink low and plot to bribe its way to secure the remains of the late sixth Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

The leaked audio implicating President Hakahinde Hichilema as being complicity in hatching a plot to try and bribe South African judges handling the Lungu case in the Pretoria High Court is ridiculous and shameful.

As a Government in waiting, we can’t sit and watch the integrity of our sovereignty being shredded to tarters by people who don’t understand the value of governance and good foreign relations.

We have a duty to protect the integrity of our nation from further embarrassment by ensuring that we transcribe the contents of the leaked audio and submit to the South African authorities with an official cover note to provide context.

Those trying to rubbish the leaked audio as AI generated must prove to the contrary. We are aware that this is not the first time the embattled UPND administration is trying to hide their shame under the claim of AI.

When the letters stopping the late sixth Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu from travelling out of the country for medical reasons first leaked, UPND were quick to brand the letters as fake and AI generated.

However, it was interesting to note that the same letters were submitted in the Pretoria High Court as part of the evidence.

We are extremely concerned that it seems suing a grieving family is not enough, but planning to bribe judges in a foreign jurisdiction is totally unthinkable and below the decorum and expected behavior of any reasonable Government.

Citizens First will further explore avenues to share the transcribed audio content with other international organizations and foreign governments.

FOCUS ON RESOLUTION NOT LITIGATION OVER ECL BURIAL

FOCUS ON RESOLUTION NOT LITIGATION OVER ECL BURIAL:

By Rev Chilekwa Mulenga
Monday 21st July, 2025

How is it that we can have a Church Elder in the office of President and an ordained Cleric in the office of the vice President who is also in charge of National guidance and religious affairs; yet fail to resolve the impasse over the remains of ECL who was equally a Christian? The unconfirmed reports that H.E the President Mr Hichilema sent Hon Chabinga to South Africa to play imigalato around the remains of ECL and the Court process is ridiculously ridiculous if found to be true. The audio played and shared by Amb Emmanuel Mwamba is extremely disturbing.

Following the unfortunate demise of the 6th Republican President Dr Edgar Lungu (ECL) who passed on 5th June, 2025 and the predicament between the ECL family and government, one would have hoped for the current administration to focus more on finding a resolution not litigation ne migalato which has the potential of damaging bilateral relations between our two Nations – ZM and RSA; and cause more damage to the Country, threatening National peace and unity.

It is unfortunate that the initial agreement the two parties entered which was later breached by the government has bred mistrust and suspicions causing more hurt and divisions in the Nation. Listening to the audio alleged to be a phone conversation between Hon Doreen Mwamba and Mr Robert Chabinga implicating President Hichilema is so concerning.

The decision by the Hichilema led administration to sue the widow madam Esther Lungu and her family over the corpse of ECL and where to bury his remains is insensitive and unchristian in a Christian Nation. You can not sue a grieving widow as a government over the remains of her late husband. ECL was a State asset but his corpse belongs to his family. The ECL family is simply fulfilling the wishes of their deceased loved one. The rights of the dead should be considered respectfully.

The Bible generally portrays the human body after death as the remains of a person, distinct from their soul or spirit. It emphasizes that the deceased are not conscious in their physical remains but their memory goes beyond the grave. The rights of the deceased are often intertwined with the rights and needs of their families and communities. The remains of ECL belong primarily to his family.

The question; “Is there no wise man among you?” recorded in 1 Corinthians 6:5 “I say this to make you feel ashamed. Has it come to this, that there is not one person among you who is wise enough to settle disagreements between brothers?”, is used to express disappointment and shame over the Corinthians’ behavior, particularly their tendency to take disputes among themselves to secular courts instead of resolving them within the Church community.

CONTEXT (1 Cor 6:5):
The Apostle Paul is addressing the Church in Corinth, which was experiencing internal conflicts and disputes.

QUESTION:
The question “Is there no wise man among you?” is not meant to be taken literally. It’s a way for Paul to highlight the lack of wisdom and spiritual maturity within the Corinthian Church.

SHAME:
Paul is essentially saying that the Corinthians should be ashamed of their actions because they are unable to settle their own disputes, resorting instead to taking them before courts.

SOLUTION:
Paul suggests that there should be someone within the Church who is wise enough to mediate and resolve these conflicts, preventing them from further embarrassment and shame.

WISDOM:
The passage emphasizes the importance of wisdom, particularly in resolving disputes and maintaining harmony within a community.

The Bible emphasizes reconciliation and forgiveness, suggesting that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and mediation rather than through legal action and imigalato; particularly when it involves vulnerable individuals like a widow and a grieving family as is the case over the funeral of ECL.

“The protection of and respect for the dead is something that makes us human. It’s prevalent since the beginning of humanity, in all cultures and religions and is regulated in religious, cultural and social practices around the world” Dr Morris Tidball-Binz (Forensic doctor & UN Special Rapporteur)

Respecting the wishes of the dying or dead is a profound act of love and compassion, often involving acknowledging and honoring their desires for how they want to live their final days and their wishes regarding their funeral or memorial service to the burial of their remains.
Honouring the wishes of the deceased is a crucial part of the grieving process, offering closure and comfort to loved ones while ensuring the deceased’s legacy is remembered as they wished.

Granting the wishes of the deceased is important for the following reasons:
1. To honour their dignity and autonomy.
2. To provide solace to the bereaved.
3. To help keep their memories and values well alive.
3. To avoid conflict and potential emotional distress to the bereaved.
4. To respect their wishes as a way of expressing deep love and respect for them.
5. To fulfilling their final wishes as a sign of respecting their tradition and beliefs.

The dead are like the living and their wishes should be respected and fulfilled for the sake of peace and harmony unless in cases where the law would be contravened. It is not right to depart from the will of the deceased. It is in the memory of ECL how he was treated under the watch of Mr Hichilema, in total contradiction of what a caring government is expected to conduct itself.

If our beloved 6th Republican President Dr Edgar C. lungu (HSRIEP) expressed his heartfelt wish on how he wanted to be mourned and buried, his wish should be respectfully considered  more than what anyone outside of the family wishes.
Let us not hurt ECL even in his death, it’s unchristian and goes against the spirit of our culture and Ubuntu. Giving ECL a benefitting burial means respectfully considering his wishes on what he stated concerning his funeral and burial.

HE the President Mr Hakainde Hichilema has a solemn duty to support the family of the late 6th Republican President Dr Edgar Lungu, in their time of grieving and not hurting them by accomplice through the likes of Robert Chabinga. We guide President Hichilema to distance himself from Robert Chabinga. The audio is a disaster on the credibility of the President. The audio is not AI, AI doesn’t chew and switch from bemba to english fluently and even laughing.

“Our primary purpose in life is to help others, and if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them” Dalai Lama.

Mfuwe by-elections should proceed, ECZ submits following Mabonga’s petition

Mfuwe by-elections should proceed, ECZ submits following Mabonga’s petition
CHIEF electoral officer, Brown Kasaro has insisted that the dates for Mfuwe Constituency by-elections earlier announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) should proceed as a vacancy was created by the law.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15jqAD2bJW/?mibextid=oFDknk
Kasaro said a parliamentary seat becomes vacant when a serving MP is convicted of a criminal offence whether serving the sentence or not, or whether the MP has been granted bail.

Earlier, Maureen Mabonga had petitioned the Constitutional court seeking an interpretation whether a parliamentary seat becomes vacant when a serving member of parliament is convicted of a criminal offence.
She challenged the decision made by ECZ to hold by-elections in Mfuwe while her appeal against an eight month sentence slapped on her is still pending.

Mabonga further wanted the court to determine whether declaration of her seat vacant was done in accordance with the provisions of article 72( of the constitution of Zambia amendment Act no 2 of 2026.
She also wanted the court to determine whether the subsequent nomination dated for the Mfuwe Constituency by-election announced by the ECZ on July 10, 2025 should proceed in the absence of a vacancy in the office of MP.

But in response, Kasaro in an affidavit in opposition to originating summons submitted that the constitution mandates ECZ to conduct elections where a vacancy occurs in the office of a member of parliament, mayor, council chairperson or councillor within 90 days of the occurrence of the vacancy.

Kasaro said ECZ is guided by the relevant electoral laws which, amongst others, includes the constitution of Zambia (amendment) act no.2 of 2016, Electoral Process Act no.35 of 2016 and Regulations promulgated thereunder.
He further submitted that on May 19, 2025, the speaker of the national assembly notified the ECZ of a vacancy having occurred in the national assembly, following the conviction of Mabonga, the Mfuwe Constituency MP
Kasaro believes that the court guided on the matter.

“It is our submission that a parliamentary seat becomes vacant when a serving MP is convicted of a criminal offence whether serving the sentence or not, or whether the MP has been granted bail. Court guided in the people v AG (ex parte Nickson Chilangwa).”

“Based on the guidance of the court set out in the immediate preceding paragraphs, We wish to submit that the dates for the Mfuwe Constituency by election announced by the third respondent should proceed as a vacancy was created by operation of law,” submitted Kasaro.

ALLEGED COVERT OPERATION: A DIPLOMATIC TIME BOMB FOR ZAMBIA?- Ethan John Nchenje

ALLEGED COVERT OPERATION: A DIPLOMATIC TIME BOMB FOR ZAMBIA?

By Ethan John Nchenje

The Leaked Audio That Shaken the Nation

When I read the revelations of #Chabinga’s mission to SA by #SishuwaSishuwa on his X account, I must confess that I downplayed his writings. In the spirit of objectivity, I personally wrote to Sishuwa Sishuwa 3day ago trying to understand if he trusted his sources and if the sources ain’t the one’s who where pushing a false narrative to bring the name of the president into disrepute all in the name of politics. In his usual somberness, he wrote back to me affirming his position to true and the sources were trusted colleagues of long time. I believed him with a room of doubt in my heart. But after listening to a recent leaked audio purported to be a phone conversation between mafinga Member of Parliament Robert Chabinga and Community Development Minister Hon. #DoreenMwamba first revealed by amb Emmanuel Mwamba, I was left shocked and mesmerized.

This audio has ignited a political and diplomatic storm. In the recording, Chabinga claims he was called 12 times by Zambia’s intelligence chief and up to 30 times by President Hakainde Hichilema himself.

The alleged reason behind these calls? To orchestrate a covert operation on South African soil, with the intent of bribing a South African judge to rule in favor of Zambia in a legal matter regarding the repatriation of former President #EdgarChagwa Lungu’s body for burial in Zambia. The audio further claims that Chabinga was tasked with organizing protests by pressure groups both in Zambia and South Africa to manufacture public outrage that could influence the South African judiciary.

While the authenticity of the audio remains yet to be verified, the nature of the allegations is serious and far reaching. If proven true, this episode would have significant implications for Zambia’s internal governance, regional diplomacy, and standing in the international community.

Legal and Political Implications for President Hakainde Hichilema

If President Hichilema is indeed implicated, I mean if it is really true in orchestrating such an operation, this would suggest: Abuse of executive power by interfering with foreign judicial systems, Violation of international law, particularly concerning sovereignty and judicial independence, a deliberate use of state machinery for political manipulation abroad.Such actions would reflect executive overreach, damaging the credibility of not only the president but also key national institutions like the intelligence services and the ruling UPND Zambia. This could trigger domestic uproar, calls for parliamentary scrutiny, or even demands for impeachment proceedings, depending on the political atmosphere and level of evidence.

Diplomatic Fallout with South Africa

South Africa is a sovereign and democratic nation with a proud tradition of judicial independence. Any external attempt to manipulate its legal processes, especially through alleged bribery and psychological warfare via public protest manipulation would likely be met with Official condemnation,Diplomatic rebukes such as summoning Zambia’s ambassador,And a cooling of bilateral relations between the two countries.

South Africa may also demand an official explanation and initiate its own investigation into any suspected judicial interference, with potential cooperation from Interpol or SADC security structures. From an international legal standpoint, the allegations if proven true would likely amount to a violation of Article 2(7) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits member states from interfering in the domestic affairs of other sovereign nations. A breach of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), particularly regarding bribery of foreign public officials as cited by comrade Kasonde Mwenda C.

A disregard for the principle of mutual respect for sovereignty enshrined in regional treaties like the SADC Protocol on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. Such breaches could attract global criticism, undermine Zambia’s image as a law abiding member of the international community, and potentially lead to targeted sanctions against individuals involved.

Zambia could Face Sanctions although full-scale economic sanctions are unlikely, Zambia could face targeted diplomatic or economic consequences, such as: Travel bans on implicated officials, Freezing of assets abroad, causing difficulties to Zambians living in south Africa, Suspension from some international funding programs, Or reduced cooperation with donors and multilateral institutions. Beyond formal sanctions, loss of moral authority and regional trust would be a major blow especially for a country once celebrated for its role in regional peace-building and democratic transitions.

#DamageControl: What Should the Zambian Government Do?

To manage the crisis and restore public and international confidence, the Zambian government should act decisively: Publicly Address the Allegations Whether to deny or admit, the government must issue a clear, factual, and respectful statement. Silence will only deepen suspicions.

Launch an Independent Investigation a credible, transparent inquiry led by a neutral commission or parliamentary committee should be established to authenticate the leaked audio and investigate those involved, reaffirm diplomatic respect.Through diplomatic channels, the Zambian government must reassure the South African authorities of its commitment to respecting their sovereignty and judicial independence, also  distance the Presidency If Necessary otherwise it will be kafwafwa.

If individuals acted outside the bounds of presidential approval, they must be held accountable. However, if the presidency is directly linked, there must be serious introspection and a political reckoning. If Robert Chabinga or any official is found guilty of falsehood or conspiracy, they must be prosecuted in line with the law to restore credibility in governance.

This incident whether true, exaggerated, or fabricated, represents a crossroads for Zambian governance and diplomacy. If ignored, it risks fracturing regional alliances, undermining democratic institutions, and shattering public trust. Now more than ever, Zambia must rise to demonstrate transparency, maturity, and respect for the rule of law at home and abroad. Because in the age of digital leaks and cross-border accountability, the truth always finds its way out.

NGOCC DISMISSES CLAIMS OF SUPPORTING BILL 7, DEMANDS RETRACTION OVER LEAKED AUDIO ALLEGATIONS

NGOCC Distances Itself from Allegedly Funded NGOs Backing Bill No. 7

The Non-Governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has strongly distanced itself from claims suggesting it is among civil society organisations allegedly funded by the UPND government to support the controversial Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Bill No. 7 of 2025.

Addressing the media at the NGOCC Secretariat in Lusaka, Board Chairperson Ms. Beauty Katebe condemned the allegations as “unfounded, misleading, and malicious.” The accusations surfaced from a circulating telephone recording in which a purported Member of Parliament implies that certain NGOs, including NGOCC, may have received financial backing to endorse the Bill.

“Let us be clear and categorical: NGOCC distances itself from these allegations,” Katebe stated firmly, adding that such insinuations are a direct affront to the organisation’s credibility and longstanding legacy of advocacy for good governance and inclusive democracy.

She reminded the public that NGOCC had already publicly rejected Bill No. 7 on June 2, 2025, citing concerns over the lack of inclusivity, transparency, and broad-based consultation in its formulation. The organisation maintains that the process failed to meet basic democratic standards and excluded key voices especially women, youth, and marginalized communities.

“Our position remains unchanged and resolute,” Katebe reiterated. “We reject any process that sidelines citizens, and we have not, at any point, accepted funding to support such a flawed constitutional amendment process.”

NGOCC, an umbrella organisation representing over 100 women’s rights groups across Zambia, has built its reputation on non-partisan advocacy and rights-based engagement. Katebe emphasized that the council’s mandate is to amplify the voices of the voiceless not to serve political interests.

“These accusations must be dismissed with the contempt they deserve. We demand an immediate retraction and public clarification from those responsible for spreading this misinformation,” she said.

The organization also took the opportunity to urge fellow civil society actors and the general public to remain alert to political manipulation and to safeguard Zambia’s democratic space from being undermined by covert campaigns and divisive narratives.

ATTORNEY GENERAL REFUTES CLAIMS ABOUT LUNGU’S BURIAL WISHES

By CIC.

ATTORNEY GENERAL REFUTES CLAIMS ABOUT LUNGU’S BURIAL WISHES.

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha says there is no evidence that former President Edgar Lungu wished to be buried in South Africa upon his death.

According to a submission made before South Africa’s Pretoria High Court on Friday, Mr. Kabesha stated that Mr. Lungu merely expressed concerns that he might not be accorded a funeral befitting a former head of state.

He submitted that the Zambian Government nonetheless intends to accord Mr. Lungu a state funeral in line with national protocol and cultural norms.

Mr. Kabesha further stated that it is indisputable that former First Lady Esther Lungu and other members of Mr. Lungu’s family wish for the late president to be given a state funeral.

He also rejected allegations of government persecution of Mr. Lungu and his family, asserting that there is no substantive evidence to support such claims.

Additionally, Mr. Kabesha argued that sentiments suggesting President Hakainde Hichilema should not participate in Mr. Lungu’s funeral contradict the late president’s own wish for a dignified send-off.

He emphasized that President Hichilema is eligible to preside over Mr. Lungu’s state funeral, as he would be responsible for receiving foreign dignitaries and hosting attending heads of state.

Mr. Kabesha also clarified that Mr. Lungu’s benefits under the Benefits of the President Act were never revoked, but that payments ceased when he re-entered active politics in 2023.

These submissions were made in a Reply Affidavit filed by the late President Lungu’s lawyers, Makebi Zulu & Associates.

A ruling on the matter is scheduled for August 4, 2025.

Presidential Brief: Burial of Former President Edgar C. Lungu (ECL)
Subject: Appeal for a Timely and Dignified State Burial in Zambia

“Your Excellency, you know me — and today I come before you not as a member of any political formation, but as your child and a concerned citizen.

You are my President, before any party affiliations. I have just returned from spending time with the grieving family, mourning with them in person over the past week. I have seen and felt their pain firsthand. I do not come seeking personal recognition or reward. I come because, in moments of national loss and uncertainty, someone must stand — not for self, but for peace, dignity, and unity.

This is one of those moments.”

1. National Healing Requires Closure
– Delaying the burial prolongs grief and fuels unnecessary speculation.
– Zambia has always buried its presidents promptly — Chiluba, Mwanawasa, Sata — reinforcing national unity.
– The country needs emotional closure; the longer we delay, the more politically tense the environment becomes.

“A dignified burial helps the nation move forward in peace.”

2. ECL Was a President of the Republic
– While political differences existed, President Lungu held constitutional office and deserves the dignity that comes with that legacy.
– Honoring him affirms the dignity of the Presidency itself — including the office you now hold.
– This is an opportunity to rise above partisanship and unite the country around shared values.

“This is not about PF or UPND — it’s about Zambia and the Office of the President.”

3. The Family Is Willing to Collaborate
– The family is ready to work with the government and respects your leadership.
– Their request is not to exclude, but to retain cultural dignity and avoid politicization of the moment.
– A joint funeral committee (Family + Government) can ensure smooth coordination and mutual respect.

“They are not asking for exclusion — they are asking for respect.”

4. The World Is Watching Zambia’s Response
– The handling of this moment sends a strong message about our democracy and maturity.
– A state-led, inclusive funeral will win both domestic confidence and international respect.
– This is Zambia’s chance to show leadership, reconciliation, and unity in action.

“Let Zambia show the world how African democracies bury their leaders — with dignity, not division.”

5. Cultural Imperative for Timely Burial
– Our traditions call for timely burial to allow the spirit to rest and the family to heal.
– Delaying the burial goes against deep-rooted African values.
– Chiefs, elders, and citizens are already calling for leadership on this matter.

“Let us not create political ghosts by failing to do what is spiritually and culturally right.”

✅ Recommended Path Forward

1. Approve immediate repatriation and burial within Zambia.
2. Announce a joint funeral committee with family and state representatives.
3. Confirm your attendance or delegation in a manner that prioritizes healing, not politics.

“Your Excellency, this moment calls not for political victory, but for statesmanship. By leading this process with grace and dignity, you will not only honor your predecessor — you will elevate your own legacy.”

Tonse Alliance Accuses President of Weaponizing Police to Protect Political Allies

Tonse Alliance Accuses President of Weaponizing Police to Protect Political Allies

The arrest of former State House Political Advisor Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba has ignited political outrage, with the opposition Tonse Alliance accusing President Hakainde Hichilema of using state machinery to settle personal scores and shield political allies from scrutiny.

In a strongly worded statement issued by Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) President and Tonse Alliance spokesperson Sean E. Tembo, the coalition described the arrest of Dr. Zimba as a deliberate act of political persecution and a “gross abuse of presidential power.”

According to the Alliance, the arrest was orchestrated following a widely known and long-standing personal feud between Dr. Zimba and former Vice President Dr. Nevers Mumba. The duo has for years exchanged barbs through media platforms and legal threats, with neither side ever formally initiating civil proceedings in court.

“What we are witnessing is not justice but a calculated attempt to silence a political adversary under the guise of law enforcement,” read part of the Tonse Alliance statement. “The arrest is not about the law it’s about President Hichilema protecting his friend and punishing his enemy.”

Dr. Zimba was arrested and charged on July 21, 2025, with two counts of electronic harassment and one count of criminal libel under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act and the Penal Code. The charges stem from publications made in May 2024, one on his personal Facebook page and another in The Mast Newspaper, allegedly targeting Dr. Mumba.

The Alliance questioned the timing and motivation behind the arrest, stating that both men had ample opportunity to settle their differences through civil litigation, but neither had the courage to pursue it. “Instead of allowing the law to take its natural course, President Hichilema chose to use the police to fight his friend’s personal battle,” Tembo said.

Tonse Alliance further reminded the public that this was not the first time Dr. Zimba had been on the receiving end of politically motivated charges. In 2022, he was detained for over eight months on terrorism-related accusations, which the Lusaka High Court later dismissed as frivolous and malicious.

“President Hichilema is developing a worrying pattern of targeting individuals who were once close to former President Edgar Lungu,” the Alliance warned. “We see a clear attempt to erase political opposition through criminalization.”

The statement also raised serious concerns over what it called the dual-track justice system under the UPND administration. It cited the delayed appeal process of Dr. Nevers Mumba, who was convicted of corruption over four years ago but remains free on bail, while opposition figures like Dr. Chishimba Kambwili have seen their appeals fast-tracked and dismissed.

“How can a convicted felon like Dr. Mumba still roam the streets on a pending appeal, while others are rushed to prison?” Tembo asked. “The judiciary must explain this blatant double standard.”

According to the Alliance, the continued freedom of President Hichilema’s allies, despite pending criminal judgments, raises troubling questions about judicial independence and selective application of justice.

As pressure mounts on the presidency, Tonse Alliance has called on Hichilema to uphold not only the rule of law but also the moral decency expected of a national leader. “If the President cannot govern with integrity, the least he can do is behave with basic human decency,” Tembo charged.

When the Law Sleeps and Violence Speaks: Who Will Save the Republic?

When the Law Sleeps and Violence Speaks: Who Will Save the Republic?

Dr. Mwelwa

I was hesitant to comment on Robert Chabinga’s press conference—partly out of disbelief, partly out of caution. But silence in the face of such reckless and inflammatory utterances would be complicity. When a public figure openly boasts about impending violence, threatens fellow citizens, and mocks the rule of law, it ceases to be political drama—it becomes a national crisis demanding reflection, response, and accountability.

Is this how a nation governed by the rule of law responds to blatant threats of violence, open admissions of criminal intent, and the desecration of democratic processes? When an expelled Member of Parliament, Robert Chabinga, mounts a public platform at a prestigious hotel and declares—without remorse—that he will “violently rob” an unnamed person, “brutally destroy” a political party, and “deal with” fellow citizens outside the bounds of the law, what is the response of the State? Is silence now the new enforcement mechanism?

Where are the men and women entrusted with the Constitution’s shield? The Inspector General of Police was directly addressed—mocked even—with a chilling promise: “If you receive a report that some money has been stolen… just know I’m the first suspect.” Are we to laugh? Or weep? When suspects confess before the crime, does the law wait for blood to stain the floor before it acts?

Zambia’s Penal Code is not silent on this. Sections 87 and 90 criminalize inciting violence and threatening physical harm. Section 248 speaks against criminal intimidation. These are not abstract clauses in a dusty statute—they are the defensive walls of a society that wishes to live in peace. And yet, from the mouth of a man who claims to “own the Patriotic Front” and openly declares that there will be no conventions because he will enforce order with fists, not ballots, comes a defiant snarl: “Police must stay away.”

Shall the police indeed stay away? Or are they only brave when arresting street vendors and university students?

African wisdom warns us: “A snake that shows its fangs in daylight has already decided to strike.” When Chabinga threatens violence on women who dare attend political events, when he bans the Electoral Commission and dictates who shall and shall not participate in an election, are we not witnessing an attempted coup of the democratic spirit—not with guns, but with impunity?

Is the Law Association of Zambia listening, or has it been cowed into cautious silence by the threats flung its way from the podium? What of the NGOCC and Church mother bodies, called to abandon their work and “join politics”—is this not the language of political thuggery trying to dismantle the last bastions of civic morality?

And what of the Electoral Process Act? When a candidate bars others from standing in an election, when he threatens voters who wear the symbols of another party, is this not voter intimidation under Sections 103 to 105 of the Act? Or has the law become too polite to disturb those who shout loudest?

A man threatens to “deal with” Emmanuel Mwamba and Sishuwa Sishuwa—names, not just individuals, but symbols of critical thought and civic vigilance. When a public figure declares he will not use the law but will “reach them” physically, do we still pretend to be a nation governed by law? Or have we become a jungle where only the loud and the reckless are heard?

In another breath, the same man confesses that “media money” is available, instructs journalists to remain seated and wait for their share—has bribery become policy? Under the Anti-Corruption Act, is this not an inducement, a perversion of public trust? Will the ACC ask questions, or merely turn the other way, waiting for permission from political masters?

The law is clear. The violations are many. The evidence is public. What remains is a test—not of legislation, but of courage. Will the law enforcement agencies act, or shall they become passive spectators to the erosion of order, democracy, and justice?

A wise Bemba saying goes, —The foolishness of a monkey wearing human clothes does not make it human. The titles we carry—MP, Honourable, President—mean nothing if our actions are savage. Let us not clothe lawlessness in suits and call it politics.

Zambia stands at a precipice. Shall we protect the dignity of our Republic, or shall we wait for blood to confirm what we were too timid to prevent The nation watches. The law sleeps. But the people will remember.

The one thing you should do in such bad situations is to be positive, smile at everybody and at yourself, but most of all, keep your mind active.
Move your body as far as you can.

Thanks to social media, I can read your comments and other updates, which is keeping my mind active.

Typing this article is great because my mind is being activated and my body is doing something too, so I am good.

When I told you the appendix had ruptured due to appendicitis going to peritonitis, some naysayers were busy trying to argue with facts before me and the doctors.

Doctors were not dreaming; they had facts from various tests and scans done. But some frustrated individuals were like, “Nah, it can’t be peritonitis; you don’t even know what that is. If it is that, you can’t even be typing this nonsense here.”

But that’s me; I am a fighter, always positive and pushing my way.

The surgery, which was expected to last 2 to 3 hours, went to 6 hours with 4 openings. The 3 openings are smaller, but I have the bigger one, which was used to clean because there was pus spread inside there.

I now feel comfortable, though I am still not being given food in case I have to undergo another operation as a consequence of yesterday’s.

My brothers and sisters, don’t judge people by your standards or your situations. We are different, I am not you, and God has His own way of doing things.

Yes, the situation was dire, and many people are wondering how I survived it, going through pain with a smile, humor, and patience.

Miracles do happen through your prayers, and I am grateful for your prayers.

I will talk to you when you have woken up.

Kazadi recreates the crucifiction story, laces it with 50 shades moves

ADULT filmmakers, Mwaka Halwiindi and her co-starring David Kazadi are back with a bang, kicking athletes Rhoda Njobvu and Lumeka Katundu and another, out of the top 10 race for the number one slot.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1YPevBSkBi/

Like an automated machine, Kazadi is in the couple’s newly leaked s33x t@@p3 seen pound and vibrate in between Mwaka’s limbs like a starved prisoner out on parole and straight to claim his conjugal rights.

With Mwaka tied with ropes and hanging on the wall, Kazadi is seen take a careful grip of the wildly and pleasurably wailing Halwiindi.

A few seconds into the video, the poor crucified Mwaka is seen radiate spasms before she takes on Kazadi, who now only holds her widely spread legs.

30-seconds into the 44-seconds long s33x t@p3, Mwaka is seen bravely take on a standing Kazadi, riding his joystick mid air, like a skydiver.

There has been widespread circulation of obscene material, especially those with purported social media influencers, with the couple being the first in the recent, followed by two athletes and another female who appeared in videos with a white man.

Various organizations have condemned the acts, and the Zambia Police has warned against the circulation of the videos saying anyone found wanting would be made to pay under section 177 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

SOUTH AFRICA PLEDGES VISA WAIVER TO FOSTER CONTINENTAL UNITY, MOBILITY AT PAN-AFRICAN PARLIAMENT OPENING

SOUTH AFRICA PLEDGES VISA WAIVER TO FOSTER CONTINENTAL UNITY, MOBILITY AT PAN-AFRICAN PARLIAMENT OPENING

By Grant Choonya

Midrand,  South Africa – 21st July 20265

South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Thandi Moraka has emphasized the importance of continental unity and cooperation.

While highlighting Africa’s broader goals of justice and integration, she announced a significant step: “South Africa has committed to waiving visa requirements for African delegates and travelers by October 1, 2025.”

Delivering her speech at the PAP sitting in Midrand, Moraka underscored that easier movement across borders is vital for boosting intra-Africa trade, travel, and diplomacy.

“Facilitating visa-free or simplified travel is crucial to fostering stronger links among our nations,” she stated, adding that the South African government remains dedicated to the goal of easing travel restrictions to help deepen regional integration.

She also reflected on South Africa’s ongoing support for the Pan-African Parliament and underscored the country’s role as the G20 president for 2025, advocating for Africa’s interests on the global stage.

Additionally, Moraka emphasized the importance of addressing historical injustices through collective action, aligning with the African Union’s theme of “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.”

Her call for enhanced mobility echoes the broader vision of a unified, prosperous Africa, where simplified travel fosters closer ties, economic growth, and shared progress.

The decision to waive visa requirements by October signals a tangible step toward realizing this vision—one that promises to bring African nations closer together and unlock new opportunities for development and cooperation.
