LUKULU | WAGON MEDIA TEAM
20th July 2025

A wave of optimism is sweeping across Mulongo area in Mwandi Ward, Lukulu District, following the proposal by Nalolo Solar Power Energy Company Limited (NASPEC) to establish a 160-megawatt solar power plant in the region.

The project, pegged at $135 million, will be developed in phases, beginning with an initial output of 80 megawatts. Once operational, it is expected to improve energy access in Lukulu and enhance electricity supply to Western and North-Western Provinces via the Mumbezhi transmission line.

Set to occupy 175 hectares of land under Chief Imenda, the project will include:

Installation of 314,054 solar panels

Deployment of 458 string inverters

Advanced monitoring and control systems

The project is entering its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) stage, with the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) expected in Lukulu within the next two months.

During a recent community engagement meeting held in Mulongo, traditional leaders, local residents, District Commissioner Mr. Kelly Kapaku, and Mwandi Ward Councillor Hon. Palata Kandeleyi all expressed strong support. The community acknowledged the project’s potential to create jobs, expand clean energy access, and stimulate long-term economic growth.

“This is more than just a power project — it’s a gateway to opportunity for the people of Lukulu,” remarked one community elder.

With full community endorsement and government backing, NASPEC is poised to move swiftly into implementation—marking a major leap toward clean energy and rural transformation in Lukulu District.

Trump handcuffed as he tries to ‘cut ties’ to Musk and his businesses

0

Donald Trump’s attempt to exact revenge on former advisor Elon Musk by hitting in him the pocketbook has come up short, according a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

Following the tech billionare’s departure from being a daily presence in the Trump White House, the relationship between the two men soured to the point where Musk went so far as to post on his social media platform X that the president is in the Jeffrey Epstein files –– which has contributed to the president’s latest problems.

As the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, not long after Musk’s departure Trump fired a shot across his bow by using Truth Social to announce that he was contemplating pulling the plug on government contracts with the billionaire’s business.

The Journal’s Brian Schwartz, Shalini Ramachandran and Micah Maidenberg reported “Just days after President Trump in early June raised the prospect of cutting ties with Musk’s businesses, the Trump administration initiated a review of SpaceX’s contracts with the federal government,” adding, “The review was intended to identify potential waste in the multibillion-dollar agreements the company has with the government, the people said.”

The report goes on to note that the review revealed that a great many contracts couldn’t be eliminated “because they are critical to the Defense Department and NASA.”

The Journal is reporting that spreadsheets labeled as “scorecards” were used to log the value of the contracts and whether Musk’s competitors could step in as a replacement.

“Instead of terminating SpaceX contracts after reviewing the data, White House and agency officials, including those at the Pentagon, determined that most of the deals were vital to the missions of the Defense Department and NASA, according to some of the people familiar with the matter. One of the people said some SpaceX contracts could face continued scrutiny,” the report notes.

MSNBC hosts laugh at Trump’s inability to escape Epstein scandal

Donald Trump’s scrambling to put down a revolt by his MAGA followers who are furious about the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files earned him laughter from the two co-hosts of MSNBC’s “The Weekend.”

As host Eugene Daniels noted, the president is struggling to deal with the fall-out over his Department of Justice sitting on evidence against the accused child sex predator who died while in custody under mysterious circumstances.

As he explained, “He admitted, quote, ‘nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics making the request. It will always be more, more, more.’ And the troublemakers he’s referring to could be among his own MAGA faithful.”

“As Ashley Parker writes in The Atlantic, quote: ‘In particular, Trump has raged against MAGA influencers who, in his estimation, have profited and grown famous off their association with him and his political movement.’ That’s according to a White House official and a close outside adviser.”

“That adviser added that: quote, ‘The president has bigger fish to fry, and he said what he wants to move on’,”‘ he continued before joking, “But it ain’t working,” which led Daniels and co-host Jonathan Capehart to start laughing.

Trump’s far-right MAGA supporters are ‘not buying’ his Epstein story

According to NBC’s Brandy Zadrozny while some MAGA influencers are tempering their criticism over how Donald Trump’s administration is handling the Jeffrey Epstein files, he has a rough road ahead with his far-right supporters

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Zadrozny was asked if Trump’s assertion that files on the accused pedophile are part of an elaborate hoax was working for him.

She noted it is with a few influencers, but the wounds are deeper with another segment.

“When I talked to a bunch of influencers after the Wall Street Journal posted their story, they were sort of really excited because this gave them an end to support the president so they could finally say, ‘Oh, you know, that doesn’t sound like him. what is he, a thespian now? We don’t buy it,'” she told the hosts.

“That gave them a chance to sort of align themselves again with, you know, their, their leader,” she added. “But again, I have a finger on the pulse of what everybody was saying in response to that and they were really not moved. These people are still on Truth Social on other far right MAGA forums are not buying it at all.”

“Furthermore, they’re really still very much smarting from the president’s reaction to them, which is, again, to call them losers, to call them weaklings, to say they didn’t want –– he didn’t he no longer wanted their support,” she elaborated. “And there is a feeling of, you know, methinks he doth protest too much, and they’re sort of waiting for what’s going to come out of this, you know, promised grand jury stuff.”

‘You know a lot of these people are conspiracy theorists, they’re not stupid,” she continued. “You know, they they do a good job of connecting all the dots. The problem is, the way that they connect them isn’t always right or often is wrong and so they are waiting for more information. As of now, they are angry and they are expecting more.”

New Hydro-power Plant Set for Northern Province

New Hydro-power Plant Set for Northern Province

By Arnold Tutu

A private company, Lufubu Power Company, is set to construct a 163-megawatt hydro-power plant in Northern Province.

The project will cost the company 23.7 billion kwacha, the equivalent of 800 million US dollars.

According to a statement issued by ZESCO’s Corporate Affairs Department to ZNBC News, the power plant will be built along the Lufubu River, covering the districts of Mpulungu, Nsama, and Mporokoso.

The Statement further reveals that a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement -PPA- has already been signed between ZESCO and Lufubu Power Company to secure base-load hydropower from the new plant.

ZESCO Managing Director, JUSTIN LOONGO, said the agreement aligns with the country’s national objective of delivering affordable and reliable energy, particularly by leveraging the untapped hydropower potential of the northern circuit.

To support the integration of the new plant into the national energy framework, Mr. LOONGO said ZESCO will construct a new 330kV transmission line from Mporokoso to Kasama.

He explained that this infrastructure will enhance grid stability and enable the distribution of electricity to under-served communities across the country

And Lufubu Power Company Chief Executive Officer, KATAI KACHASA, welcomed the agreement, describing it as a sign of investor confidence in Zambia’s renewable energy future.

Mr. KACHASA noted that the Northern Province, which enjoys consistent rainfall and steady river flow, has remained under-utilised in terms of energy production.

He added that the Lufubu project aims to change that narrative by tapping into the region’s hydrological reliability, reducing over-reliance on the drought-prone southern dams.

NORAH SHOULDN’T SAY THAT ZAMBIA DOESN’T HAVE MUCH TALENT

NORAH SHOULDN’T SAY THAT ZAMBIA DOESN’T HAVE MUCH TALENT

Zambia National Team Coach Norah Hauptle made a comment that I believe she should not have made after Zambia’s 5-0 loss to Nigeria.

Among the reasons she gave for the defeat, three points stood out.

First, she said that Nigeria has a bigger population than Zambia and therefore a larger pool of players to choose from.

Second, she pointed out that Nigeria has many foreign-based players while Zambia has only ten, which she said negatively impacted the team.

Thirdly she said that Zambia does not have much talent.

While Coach Norah may be right about the difference in population sizes, the puzzling question is why she chose Zambia over Ghana in the first place.

Ghana has a population of around 35 million—larger than Zambia’s—and more than 25 foreign-based players. So why did she agree to coach the Zambia National Women’s Team knowing very well that we do not have many foreign-based players?

Zambia, as a footballing nation, has historically relied on a strong base of home-based players, from as far back as the 1960s up to today.

The Chipolopolo won the 2012 AFCON with Nathan Sinkala, who was at Green Buffaloes, and many players who were mostly based in Africa.

The Copper Queens themselves finished third at the 2022 WAFCON and qualified for the 2023 FIFA World Cup with just four foreign-based players—Margaret Belemu, Hazel Nali, Grace Chanda, and Misozi Zulu.

In fact, in Group B, Zambia had the fewest foreign-based players but still topped the group ahead of Cameroon (who had 22 foreign-based players), Tunisia, and Togo. We even went on to beat Nigeria, who also had more foreign-based players.

To give Coach Norah a break maybe her comment about ” Zambia having little Talent” may have been taken out of context. English isn’t her first language—she’s a German speaker ( I think)—so it may have been lost in translation.

However, Coach Norah presented herself to Zambia as someone who would come and fix the tactical gaps in the team. Talking about population size and claiming Zambia doesn’t have much talent feels like shifting blame.

The coach shouldn’t make local players feel they are doing something wrong by playing in Zambia. If she continues with this line of talk, she will have a serious challenge keeping the squad united.

Coach Norah should realise that her success with the Copper Queens largely depends on local players who form the large part of the squad. This is hoe qualified for two consecutive Olympics and the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

If she continues to praise only the foreign-based players in the media, local players may lose faith in her.

She needs to have a balanced approach when speaking about her squad.

QAnon host links Epstein scandal to End Times

0

During an interview about the End Times, pro-QAnon hosts Shemane Nugent and Melissa Redpill insisted that President Donald Trump was playing “5D chess” by refusing to release files about accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

“We are back with Melissa Redpill, digging deeper into what many believe is the final chapter in human history,” Nugent explained in the Real America’s Voice segment on Sunday.”So a lot of people are afraid to talk about this. You’re not. A lot of people don’t know what it is. Can you describe what or who is Q?”

“I’ll guess it’s probably what, because I can’t guess who, but I feel very confident that President Trump is involved,” Redpill insisted. “There’s no doubt about it. After having followed it since literally day two of this movement, it’s obvious, there’s no doubt that President Trump is part of this.”

“This, this mafia cabal that has run the world, which I believe is the beast of Revelation. It’s a, it’s not a single, the antichrist, it’s also called the antichrist. It’s not a single person,” she continued. “And a lot of people have no idea that that’s what really spurred the Great Awakening.”

“It feels like if you know, you know,” Nugent agreed. “For me, it’s those of us who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Not everybody can.”

“But why, if this is going on, why doesn’t President Trump stop all of this?” she asked.

In defense of Trump, Redpill argued that the “criminal cabal” was “above the U.S. government.”

“And so what has to happen is everyone has to, for President Trump to be able to take the power to do the things that we want him to do, because none of this is going to stop until these people are arrested,” she remarked. “And this is clearly what the Bible talks about, that the beast and the false prophet will be cast into the abyss.”

“President Trump is the chosen one,” Redpill added. “And what’s happening right now, which is so complicated, such 5D chess that no one can figure this out.”

“I just have to sit sometimes and just go, I just trust that he knows how to do this. No one else does. And if you look at it, it’s kind of funny. The Streisand effect is in full display because now they realize, hey, you know, they’re trying to expose the Epstein files. The last thing that they need to do is to expose the Epstein files, but they can’t help themselves because they think that that’s the way that they’ll be able to destroy President Trump. It’s really funny. So trust the plan.”

Nugent agreed: “I think he’s playing 5D or even 10D chess.”

Lesufi says South Africa is being invaded by undocumented foreigners

Lesufi says South Africa is being invaded by undocumented foreigners

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has raised alarm over the province’s handling of undocumented foreign nationals, describing the situation as an “invasion” that has been poorly managed.

Speaking in an interview with eNCA, Lesufi said, “The reality is we are invaded by people we don’t know and we can’t account for. We don’t know why they are here, how they came here, and we don’t even know their agenda.”

He was responding to questions about how the provincial government plans to address the issue of undocumented migrants using public healthcare facilities. Lesufi acknowledged that the system has failed to deal with the influx effectively, blaming years of neglect and weak enforcement.

The comments come amid rising public concern over access to healthcare services in Gauteng, where community groups have staged protests outside clinics, accusing foreign nationals of overburdening the system.

Lesufi cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands and called for structured, legal interventions instead of clinic shutdowns and citizen-led patrols.

He stressed the need for national coordination to resolve the growing pressure undocumented migration places on public services, especially in densely populated areas of the province.

Fikile Mbalula says Mchunu will not step aside from ANC duties

Fikile Mbalula says Mchunu will not step aside from ANC duties

ANC Secretary‑General Fikile Mbalula has firmly stated that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu will not be required to step aside from his party responsibilities, arguing that the step‑aside rule only applies to members formally charged or appearing in court.

Mchunu, who was placed on special leave by President Cyril Ramaphosa on July 13, 2025, is currently under investigation by a judicial commission probing allegations of political interference and corruption, as raised by KwaZulu‑Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

At a National Working Committee meeting in Cape Town, where Mchunu was present, Mbalula emphasized that the step‑aside policy under the ANC constitution is triggered only when criminal charges are formally laid. He explained

“Once you are arrested or you appear in court, the rule applies… Mchunu will not step aside in relation to the ANC. He is an elected member, entitled to present his side of the story.”

Mbalula further defended the policy’s impartiality, stating that numerous ANC members such as Ace Magashule and Zizi Kodwa have previously been forced to step aside when charged. He highlighted that the rule was upheld by the Constitutional Court and is deeply embedded in the party’s constitution, ensuring it withstands legal scrutiny.

Mbalula called for patience as the inquiry proceeds under the audi alteram partem principle everyone deserves to be heard. Once the commission concludes its findings, the party will determine whether any ANC renewal processes need to be initiated.

Men need G@y friends to teach empathy and be role models for their kids — Former U.S. President Barack Obama

Former U.S. President Barack Obama shared his thoughts on modern masculinity, emotional intelligence, and the importance of diverse male role models during a recent episode of the IMO podcast, hosted by his wife Michelle Obama and brother-in-law Craig Robinson.

Speaking on a new episode, Obama emphasized the value of young boys having access to a range of male influences beyond their fathers. He highlighted the unique role that LGBTQ friends can play in modeling empathy and kindness—qualities he believes are essential in raising well-rounded young men.

“That’s one of the things boys need—not just exposure to one guy, even if he’s a great dad. He can’t be everything,” Obama said, reflecting on his early experiences with Michelle’s extended family and the different expressions of masculinity he encountered there.

Obama recalled how one of his favorite college professors, who was openly gay, challenged his assumptions and helped him grow emotionally. He credited those interactions with shaping his understanding of empathy and the need for inclusive perspectives in male friendships.

“You need that person in your friend group,” he said. “So that if you have a boy who’s gay or non-binary or whatever, they have someone to look to and think, ‘Okay, I’m not alone in this.’”

Obama urged men to create a broader sense of community for their children—one that embraces emotional intelligence and representation. He also pointed out that progressive spaces have sometimes focused heavily on supporting girls while unintentionally overlooking the needs of boys.

“As progressive parents, we’ve sometimes made the mistake of only talking about what’s wrong with boys, instead of highlighting what’s right with them,” he said. “That’s been a mistake, and I think people are beginning to realize that.”

The former president expressed hope that today’s young men are beginning to redefine masculinity in healthier, more inclusive ways. Still, he cautioned against discarding traditional values entirely, noting that certain aspects of “old school” manhood—such as chivalry and responsibility—are still worth holding on to.

MK party claims Mandela would have urged Ramaphosa to resign

MK party claims Mandela would have urged Ramaphosa to resign

The uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party, led by former President Jacob Zuma, has stirred fresh controversy by asserting that Nelson Mandela would have urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign if he were still alive.

This bold claim appeared in a memorandum released by the MK party on Friday, which accused Ramaphosa’s administration of failing to uphold the principles of accountability and integrity championed by Mandela.

According to the MK memorandum, Madiba would have found recent government scandals unacceptable and called for Ramaphosa to step down “for the sake of the people.”

The party argues that today’s ANC leadership has strayed from Mandela’s vision, citing persistent allegations of corruption and a disconnect from ordinary South Africans.

The ANC has swiftly dismissed the MK party’s statement, with several high-ranking members calling it an act of political opportunism aimed at destabilising the party.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe labelled the claim “divisive and unfounded,” saying Mandela consistently advocated for unity and collective responsibility within the ANC.

The debate has reignited questions about the legacy of Nelson Mandela, and how it should be interpreted in South Africa’s contemporary political climate.

Woman marries two brothers in India

A woman in Shillai village, Himachal Pradesh, India married two brothers in a rare polyandrous ceremony, locally known as Jodidara.

The wedding, held in the Trans-Giri area of Sirmaur district, began on July 12, 2025 and was filled with local folk songs, traditional dances, and cultural rituals.

The three-day ceremony drew hundreds of people from far and near.

Bride Sunita Chauhan and grooms, Pradeep and Kapil Negi said the marriage was a mutual decision taken without any external pressure.

Photos and videos of the ceremony have gone viral on social media, sparking renewed discussion on the tribal practice, legally recognised under Himachal Pradesh’s revenue laws as “Jodidara”.

In Badhana village alone, five such polyandrous weddings have taken place in the last six years.

Sunita, a native of Kunhat village, said she was aware of the tradition before entering the marriage.

“I made my decision without any pressure. I respect the bond we have formed, she said.

Pradeep, who works in a government department, hails from Shillai. His younger brother Kapil has a job abroad.

“We followed the tradition publicly as we are proud of it and it was a joint decision,” said Pradeep.

Kapil added, “We may live apart, but through this marriage, we’re ensuring support, stability and love for our wife as a united family. We’ve always believed in transparency,” he said.

According to the Times of India, the Hatti community, which resides along the Himachal-Uttarakhand border, was declared a Scheduled Tribe three years ago.

Polyandry has long been part of its tradition, although it has become increasingly rare with growing literacy and economic development in the region.

While such marriages still take place, elders say many are now solemnised discreetly, though society continues to accept them.

Experts attribute the origin of the practice to the need to preserve family land holdings.

Division of ancestral land among siblings was avoided through polyandry, while the share of tribal women in property remains a contentious issue in many areas.

Around three lakh members of the Hatti tribe live across nearly 450 villages in the Trans-Giri belt of Sirmaur. Though declining, polyandry is still practiced in select areas.

Similar traditions were historically observed in Jaunsar Babar in Uttarakhand and the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.

Kundan Singh Shastri, general secretary of the Kendriya Hatti Samiti — the apex body representing the community — said the practice originated thousands of years ago.

“This tradition was invented to save a family’s agricultural land from further division,” he said.

Another reason, he explained, was to strengthen brotherhood and foster unity in joint families by allowing even half-brothers to marry the same woman.

“The third reason is a feeling of security. If you have a bigger family, more men, you are more secure in a tribal society,” Shastri said, adding it also helped in cultivating and managing scattered farmlands in remote hilly areas.

“These requirements of tribal families have kept the polyandry system for thousands of years in practice, though these traditions are slowly dying,” he added.

In this unique tradition, known locally as “Jajda”, the bride is brought to the groom’s village in a procession.

At the groom’s residence, a ritual called “Seenj” is performed. A priest chants mantras in the local dialect, sprinkles holy water on the couple, and offers jaggery — a symbolic gesture for sweetness and harmony in their married life, invoking blessings from the family deity, or Kul Devta.

Stephen Miller ‘coup’ claim belittled by Musk’s chatbot for exploiting ‘paranoia

0

White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller’s attempt to ramp up a conspiracy theory about former President Barack Obama did not pass muster with Elon Musk’s AI-powered chatbot on Saturday.

In a post on X, Miller linked to a post by DNI Tulsi Gabbard that she has evidence that Obama was engaged in a conspiracy against Donald Trump which has become a GOP talking point as the Trump White House deals with the fall-out from the suppression of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

According to Gabbard, “These documents detail a treasonous conspiracy by officials at the highest levels of the Obama White House to subvert the will of the American people and try to usurp the President from fulfilling his mandate.”

Miller cheered the story on and added, “.@DNIGabbard has exposed the startling depths of a seditious coup against the Republic. The forces behind this coup have done and will do anything to protect their grasp on illegal & illegitimate power. Do not underestimate their capabilities or depravities. But WE are stronger.”

X commenter Jim Stewartson put Grok on the case by asking,” @grok you are a world-class political scientist with a background in clinical psychology. analyze this post in terms of its desired impact on its audience, and the probable motivations behind it.”

The AI-powered Grok was not having it with Miller and replied, “This post by Stephen Miller seeks to incite fear and unity among Trump supporters by framing political opponents as existential threats, fostering an us-vs-them mentality to mobilize action and justify purges. It likely motivates from loyalty to Trump, aiming to delegitimize critics and distract from controversies like Epstein ties. Psychologically, its alarmist tone exploits paranoia, potentially radicalizing audiences prone to conspiracy thinking.”

Comedian says ‘life is better’ after moving abroad to protest Trump

A famous American comedian confirmed reports that she left the country because of President Donald Trump’s election last November, according to a new report

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to the United Kingdom before Trump was elected. DeGeneres told a crowd at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire that “life is just better here” because America can be “scary for people to be who they are,” the BBC reported.

“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’,” DeGeneres told the outlet. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here’.”

It’s been almost six months since Trump was sworn in for his second term, but he’s already made a major impact on American life. For instance, Trump has initiated one of the most wide-scale deportation efforts in American history. He has also passed legislation that makes sweeping changes to the health care system and social benefits such as Medicaid and food stamps.

To DeGeneres, who was one of America’s biggest television stars for more than three decades, Trump’s election inspired her and de Rossi to pursue a new life together. They are considering getting married in the U.K. after the dust from their move settles.

“It’s absolutely beautiful,” DeGeneres told the BBC. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming, and it’s just a simpler way of life.”

“It’s clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, and people are polite. I just love it here,” she continued.

DeGeneres isn’t the only comedian to move abroad after Trump’s election. Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland in March 2025.

O’Donnell slammed Trump’s attacks against comedians in a recent Substack post.

“You don’t want free speech — you want blind loyalty,” O’Donnell wrote. “But America doesn’t work like that. We question power here. We laugh at bullies.”

New report confirms Trump-related ‘Epstein cover-up at FBI’

Reports that federal workers were tasked with reviewing Jeffrey Epstein files to flag any mention of Donald Trump are indeed true, according to a legal expert on Sunday.

Legal analyst Allison Gill, better known as Mueller, She Wrote, did a little investigating of her own after it was reported that FBI agents were instructed to “flag” any mention of Donald Trump in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“When I saw that over one thousand people had been put to work reviewing the Epstein files, I put a call out on my BlueSky account,” the legal expert said as she explained her request for anonymous details from members of the FBI who were tasked with the assignment.

She adds, “In the 24 hours since, I’ve received several messages, including from a former analyst that was assigned to review the files, and a few things stood out to me.”

According to Gill, “First, approximately 1,000 personnel in the Information Management Division (IMD) and the FBI New York Field Office were assigned to this task, confirming the whistleblower account made to Senator Durbin’s office. I can also confirm that a log exists tracking the mentions of Donald Trump in the files, and that there were approximately 100,000 files containing roughly 300,000 pages. Individual analysts were told to flag mentions of Trump by document and page number by logging them in an Excel spreadsheet, then they’d hand in their spreadsheet at the end of their (sometimes 24 or even 48-hour) shift. But it’s important to note that the agents were not told to flag Trump until later in a process that began mid-March.”

Going further, she reports, “The process of reviewing the Epstein and Maxwell files was chaotic, and the orders were constantly changing – sometimes daily.”

“Regarding the ever-changing nature of the instructions, which one source described as ‘full panic mode,’ there were at least four different review instructions,” she wrote on Sunday.

She went on to describe what could be a major vulnerability in the federal operation.

“One person I spoke to on the condition of anonymity said that many agents spent more time waiting for new instructions than they did processing files. But here’s what caught my attention: the files were stored on a shared drive that anyone in the division could access. Normally, access is only granted to those working on a project, but because of the hurried nature of the exercise, the usual permission restrictions were not in place,” according to the expert. “Additionally, the internal SharePoint site the bureau ended up using to distribute the files toward the end did not have the usual restricted permissions. This left the Epstein and Maxwell files open to viewing by a much larger group of people than previously thought.”

Because of video training programs, she noted, “That means that video exists of trainers explaining the process of flagging instances of Donald Trump appearing in the files, and those videos went out on unclassified networks within the bureau.”

“It’s also of note that the trainers toward the end were folks from the Department of Justice, and not the FBI,” she said. “As far as content, there was one confirmed mention of Donald Trump in the files reviewed by an analyst who again spoke on the condition of anonymity. Beyond that, there were other instances of Trump appearing in the files, but the number of times and to what extent is unknown.”

She added:

“But the log exists.”

Man ‘felt bad’ for murd£ring current wife so he travelled to k!ll his ex-wife who ‘deserved it’

A man who stabbed his wife to de@th “felt bad” about the murd£r, so he traveled across multiple states to murd£r his ex-wife because “she, unlike his first victim, deserved it.”

According to a release from the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office, 38-year-old Timothy Taylor traveled from North Carolina to Schenectady, N.Y., checked into a hotel, and snuck into the home of his ex-wife on the morning of May 28, 2023, and stabbed her to de@th.

He reportedly exited through a window and discarded his bloody clothing as he walked down the street, before taking a taxi to the hotel and then to the bus station.

At the time of the victim’s murder, the Brooklyn Homicide Squad was already searching for Taylor in connection to the murd£r of his current wife on May 13, 2023.

Taylor was arrested in a bar in Philadelphia and extradited to New York City for questioning by the New York Police Department, where detectives learned more about his motive.

“[Taylor] told the detectives that after he had k!lled his then current wife he felt bad, and he knew he had to come to Schenectady to k!ll his former wife because he harbored so much animosity toward her and in his words, she, unlike his first victim, deserved it,” the DA’s office said in the release.

Authorities noted that Taylor klled his ex-wife while her three children were in the home, two of which were fathered by Taylor.

“People should know that [the victim], while facing down her k!ller and knowing his intent, made sure to protect her children and after stabbing her more than 22 times, Mr. Taylor fled into the night without harming them,” District Attorney Robert M. Carney said.

“These children, particularly the oldest who was a high school student at the time, and their extended family, were instrumental to our office in bringing in this case.”

Taylor pled guilty to murd£r in the second degree on July 1, 2025. He faces another pending indictment for the murd£r of his current wife in Brooklyn as well.

Trump brags ‘Jeffrey Epstein hoax’ gave him ‘highest ever’ poll numbers

President Donald Trump credited the “Jeffrey Epstein hoax” for giving him the “highest ever” approval rating among the Republican Party base.

In a Sunday post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that his “Poll Numbers within the Republican Party, and MAGA, have gone up, significantly, since the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax was exposed.”

“They have hit 90%, 92%, 93%, and 95%, in various polls, and are all Republican Party records,” he wrote. “The General Election numbers are my highest, EVER! People like Strong Borders, and all of the many other things I have done.”

The president also called Democrats “troublemakers” for using the Epstein scandal to divide MAGA.

A Quinnipiac University National Poll recently found that 63% of voters, including 36% of Republicans, disapproved of the Trump administration’s handling of Epstein’s case. Reuters reported that 69% of Americans believed that Trump’s government was hiding information on the accused sex trafficker.

New York Magazine senior writer Sarah Jones says when people shun their relatives over politics, it’s not always about protest. Sometimes it’s about personal comfort, or even taste—and that’s okay.

“Young adults are going no-contact with parents and other relatives, often because of politics,” writes Jones.

Psychologist Joshua Coleman and Harris Poll CEO Will Johnson recently discovered that half of all American adults are “estranged from a close relative,” and although the reason can be personal, one in five “cite political differences” as the cause. The Trump years have only aggravated this trend as more open-minded generations jettison their intolerant elders.

As example, Jones pointed to a social media post by a woman claiming her 36-year-old son would not acknowledge her birthday gift “because he hasn’t spoken to my husband or I in seven months because we voted for Trump.” What followed, Jones said, was a “Rorschach test” with MAGA parents seeing echoes of “their own snowflakes” and others seeing “a narcissist who could not accept the consequences of her actions.”

Critics of political estrangement, like former Obama speechwriter and author David Litt, say “shunning plays into the hands of demagogues, making it easier for them to divide us and even, in some cases, to incite violence.” But Jones says that’s an “argument so naïve it borders on malice.” Litt’s own example of an estranged relative in his recent book was a politically-apathetic brother-in-law who doesn’t even vote. He was not a parent or sibling, and he was not hateful.

Jones said what Litt is serving up is a defense of “neutral ground,” which is “profoundly liberal, and … reminiscent of Barack Obama in particular.” And it is woefully out of date.

“So much has happened since then —like the rise of MAGA and a resurgent far right that has killed and will probably kill again — and somehow we’re still talking about discourse,” Jones said. “… Sometimes the act of knowing a person leaves you with no choice but to move on without them. If my parents liked Alligator Alcatraz, I’d no longer speak to them. If they were rude to my LGBT friends, I’d block their numbers.”

Trump hosted party for ‘young women’ where Epstein was the only guest: New York Times

Donald Trump once hosted a party featuring “young women” where Jeffrey Epstein “was the only other guest,” the New York Times reported over the weekend.

In an article titled “Inside the Long Friendship Between Trump and Epstein,” Alan Feuer and Matthew Goldstein write that, “For nearly 15 years, the two men socialized together in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla., before a falling out that preceded Mr. Epstein’s first arrest.”

Part of that article contains an interesting anecdote about the party.

According to the report, “when Mr. Trump hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago for young women in a so-called calendar girl competition, Mr. Epstein was the only other guest.” The report cites George Houraney, a Florida-based businessman who arranged the event.

“Mr. Houraney recalled being surprised that Mr. Epstein was the only other person on the guest list,” the report states before quoting the man.

“I said, ‘Donald, this is supposed to be a party with V.I.P.s,” Mr. Houraney told The New York Times in 2019. “You’re telling me it’s you and Epstein?’”

The article continues:

“Mr. Houraney’s then-girlfriend and business partner, Jill Harth, later accused Mr. Trump of sexual misconduct on the night of the party. In a lawsuit, Ms. Harth said that Mr. Trump took her into a bedroom and forcibly kissed and fondled her, and restrained her from leaving. She also said that a 22-year-old contestant told her that Mr. Trump later that night crawled into her bed uninvited.”

Trump floats ‘prosecuting Obama’ as president spirals from latest scandal

Donald Trump on Saturday seemed to show enthusiasm for “prosecuting Obama” as the president is reeling from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

The president took to his own social media site over the weekend, first to pressure a GOP leader and then to highlight a Fox News panel all about the former president.

“Great job by young and talented Harrison Fields on FoxNews,” Trump wrote. “The Panel was fantastic on prosecuting Obama and the ‘thugs’ who have just been unequivocally exposed on highest level Election Fraud.”

Trump then added, “Congratulations to Tulsi Gabbard. Keep it coming!!!”

MAGA media voice Eric Daugherty chimed in, “BREAKING: President Trump just floated ‘PROSECUTING OBAMA’ and his ‘thugs’ ‘…who have just been unequivocally exposed on highest level Election Fraud.'”

Gangster granny jailed for running cocaine operation

A 65-year-old grandma described by police as a “gangster granny”, who orchestrated a family-run organised crime group, has been sentenced for dealing drugs with a street value of £80m across the UK.

Deborah Mason, who had the nickname “Queen Bee”, and seven other members of the gang, were sentenced at Woolwich crown court in London on Friday, July 18, for their involvement in supplying nearly a tonne of cocaine over seven months.

A group of couriers collected packages of imported cocaine and drove them across London as well as Bradford, Leicester, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff, between April and November 2023, the court heard.

The drugs had an estimated wholesale value of between £23m and £35m and a street value of £80m.

The ringleader spent her profits on designer goods and was looking to travel to Turkey to have cosmetic surgery, while young mothers who were part of the gang took their young children to pick-ups.

Mason, who directed other members of the gang and was in contact with an upstream supplier called Bugsy, was found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Judge Shorrock told Mason: “You were effectively the site foreman working under the direction of a site manager.

“You recruited members of your own family – as a mother you should have been setting an example for your children and not corrupting them.”

The judge noted that several of the women have young children but said their involvement in the drug network only “makes it easier for unscrupulous” dealers to seek to recruit mothers.

Earlier, prosecutor Charlotte Hole said: “Everyone involved had an expectation of significant financial advantage, at least £1,000 per trip, and it is one of the most significant parts of the motivation of the conspiracy.

“They all had an awareness of the scale of the operation.”

Hole added: “She [Mason] recruited both her family members – her sister and her children – as well as partners and friends of her children, to a network of at least 10 individuals.”

Mason did not use pressure or coercion to woo her family into the gang as they were “motivated by financial benefit”.

The court also heard she was in receipt of in excess of £50,000 a year in benefit income during the conspiracy period, while acting as ringleader and spending lavishly on luxuries.

When Mason was on holiday in Dubai, her daughter Roseanne Mason, who made seven trips delivering about 166kg of cocaine, stepped into the directing role, the court heard.

The prosecution said Roseanne Mason collected cash for her mother and also “provided childcare so that others could work”.

George Payne, defending Deborah Mason, claimed his client was not the top director of the gang’s actions.

In his mitigation argument, he said: “It is precisely because she does not look like someone who is involved in drug dealing that she was chosen to be part of the plot.”

He added: “I submit that all of these individuals are expendable, without experience and without a lot of knowledge.”

Demi Bright made a single trip in August 2023 that involved 60kg of cocaine. She took her two children with her on the two-day trip, which involved an overnight stay in a hotel.

Lillie Bright was involved in 20 trips involving 195kg of cocaine. Her partner Chloe Hodgkin, 23, of Abbots Walk, Wye, Kent, is awaiting the birth of her baby and is to be sentenced at a date to be set.

Reggie Bright’s 12 trips as part of the gang delivered at least 90kg and there were times he collected wages for the group. He usually took trips with his partner, Demi Kendall, 31, telling her “not to get the hump because we need the money”, the court heard.

Tina Golding made four trips and delivered at least 75kg of cocaine, collecting at least £10,000 in wages.

Anita Slaughter took part in a single trip, which amounted to 55kg across four drops, in October 2023.

Roseanne Mason, 29, of Canonbury, north London, and Demi Bright, 30, of Ashford, Kent, were each sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment.

Lillie Bright, 26, of Ashford, Kent, was sentenced to 13 years, and Demi Kendall, 31, of Staplehurst, Kent, was sentenced to 13 years and six months’ imprisonment.
Reggie Bright, 24, of Staplehurst, Kent, was sentenced to 15 years, and Tina Golding, 66, of Ashford, Kent, was jailed for 10 years.

Slaughter, 44, of Ashford, Kent, was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment.

Acting on intelligence, Metropolitan police officers used investigative techniques including extensive call data and conventional surveillance to track Deborah Mason and her couriers’ movements. Most of the gang were arrested in May 2024.

DC Jack Kraushaar, who led the investigation, said: “This was a sophisticated operation which was extremely profitable for those involved.

“Following months of work by the Met police to relentlessly pursue these perpetrators, we were able to arrest and eventually convict them, preventing more drugs flooding streets across the UK which leads to violence, antisocial behaviour and misery for communities.”

South African woman beaten to d3ath by her boyfriend

A 28-year-old woman, Ayesha Unam Mamfanya, was brutally m8rdered by her boyfriend in Cape Town, South Africa.

Advocacy group, Women for Change, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

According to the group, the incident happened on 11 July 2025 in Gugulethu.

It is alleged that after the boyfriend severely beat Ayesha and left her unconscious, she was dropped off at a day clinic, from where she was transferred to a hospital.

“Her family was only informed the following day, when they were told that Ayesha was on life support and in critical condition,” the statement read.

“She tragically succumbed to her injuries on 11 July 2025.

“According to her family, the couple had been dating for two years, and Ayesha had been living with his family.

“It is alleged that there was a history of domestic violence, with neighbours reportedly hearing her screams.

“To date, the boyfriend is on the run, and no one has been arrested.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of such a beautiful soul. Another sister was murdered. How many more until we declare GBV and femicide a National Disaster?”

We never held any meeting with an Opposition Political Party-BETUZ

We Are Not Affiliated With Any Political Party – BETUZ Clears the Air

By Staff Reporter

The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has categorically denied any affiliation with a political party, saying the union remains a non-partisan and professional body committed to the welfare of teachers across the country.

Speaking at a press briefing held today at the BETUZ Secretariat in Lusaka, General Secretary Mr. Henry Sinkala dismissed recent reports suggesting the union met with a named political party as false and misleading.

“BETUZ has never met or held any meeting with any political party. If there is anyone who has done so in the name of BETUZ, we categorically state that such a person has no blessing from the union leadership,” Mr. Sinkala said.

He added that BETUZ continues to operate in the democratic space created under the current administration, which allows trade unions to function freely, advocate openly, and contribute professionally.

In the same statement, the union raised alarm over a malicious attempt to impersonate BETUZ through a fake Facebook page that has been circulating false and politically charged content, including a fabricated claim that BETUZ had endorsed a political party.

“This act is fraudulent, criminal, and intended to deceive the public while tarnishing the good name of our union,” Mr. Sinkala said.

He further revealed that the matter has been reported to law enforcement agencies and those behind the cybercrime should be identified, prosecuted, and held fully accountable in accordance with the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.

BETUZ emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability and urged members and the public to rely only on the union’s official communication platforms for accurate information.

To its members, BETUZ delivered a heartfelt message:

“We see you , we hear you, and we sincerely thank you.  Your trust is the foundation of our union.”

We are therefore  calling on all members to remain calm and united, and to continue working with the leadership to safeguard the progress made in the education sector under the New Dawn Government.

Sishuwa Sishuwa, Stop Misleading the Nation, President Hichilema Is Simply Following the Law and National Practice

Sishuwa Sishuwa, Stop Misleading the Nation, President Hichilema Is Simply Following the Law and National Practice

By Tobbius Chilembo Hamunkoyo, LLB

Dr. Sishuwa Sishuwa’s reckless article, which accuses President Hakainde Hichilema of lies, bribery, and manipulation in the funeral affairs of late President Edgar Lungu, must be condemned in the strongest possible legal terms.

His claims are not only false and misleading ,they violate basic principles of public accountability and legal reasoning. Zambia is a democracy governed by law, and it is unacceptable for a public intellectual to publish accusations without even a single reference to the Constitution, statutes, or factual proof.

This is not journalism. It is political slander.

The Benefits of Former Presidents Act (Chapter 15 of the Laws of Zambia) explicitly grants Government full legal authority over the funeral and burial of any former President.

The Act does not give the family unilateral control over funeral decisions, it entrusts the State with that duty for purposes of dignity, unity, and order. President Hichilema’s actions are consistent with the law and represent the correct execution of State functions. To paint this as manipulation is legally baseless and grossly irresponsible.

Sishuwa’s rejection of Zambia’s long-standing national tradition, that all former Presidents are buried at Embassy Park under Government supervision , is misleading and dangerous. It ignores the established juris opinio, or customary legal practice, which has been consistently applied since 2008. Presidents Kaunda, Chiluba, Mwanawasa, Sata, and Banda were all buried through Government-led ceremonies.

No President has ever received a private burial abroad. To attack a sitting President for upholding this legacy is to distort both law and history.

The State’s legal action in South Africa to prevent any unlawful burial attempt was not aggressive, it was mandatory. Under Zambian law, the President is duty-bound to ensure the burial is handled with national oversight.

The late President’s remains cannot be treated as personal property or used in private arrangements that defy national policy. The Government was right to intervene, and its actions were guided by law, not politics. To suggest otherwise is to undermine the rule of law.

Sishuwa’s article fails every test of credible legal writing. He accuses the Government of bribery and deceit, yet he provides zero evidence and does not cite a single law. This amounts to spreading malicious and defamatory content in violation of ethical norms.

False statements made without proof damage public trust, inflame emotions, and violate Zambia’s democratic values. The public must be protected from such reckless commentary.

Zambia is a nation built on constitutional principles. Article 8 of the Constitution demands morality, good governance, and unity. By misrepresenting lawful Government actions as corrupt schemes, Sishuwa is not promoting democracy , he is threatening it. The Lungu family must be allowed to mourn, but the law must guide this solemn process. President Hichilema is not politicising death; he is upholding State duty and honoring a former Head of State as required by law. The misleading rhetoric must end, and the truth must prevail.

EDUCATION UNDER SP
TO GET A 25 PERCENT BUDGET
ALLOCATION – Fred M’membe

EDUCATION UNDER SP
TO GET A 25 PERCENT BUDGET
ALLOCATION

Our current education system in Zambia was inherited from the colonial period. And the nature of this education is not liberating and does not truly serve the complex present day needs of our people and growing population.

How do we explain the gaps between those who are graduating from university and the deepening poverty in our society? Is this higher education designed to serve the needs of our people and are we producing graduates that are equipped with skills to navigate the growing complex world? These are questions we need to address as a society.

Higher education is a very key component for our national development process that requires urgent attention. The students that get into universities and colleges are the best cream we have in terms of contributing to a well equipped and developed country. In this regard, we need a system change that favours and not blame our students. A system that centres on quality education that prepares graduates to change our country, Africa and the world.

As such, not only will the SP Government ensure that university or higher education is free, but it will also build on and support processes and initiatives that are transforming our education sector to be in line with the needs of our people.

We need to invest heavily in this sector to ensure that we develop a student that can qualitatively contribute to job creation, innovation and research.

For this reason the SP will allocate 25 percent of the national budget to the education sector.

ZNS COMMENCES DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS AGAINST RHODA NJOBVU, THEIR SPONSORED ATHLETE WHO FEATURED IN AN £XPLICIT VIDEO WITH A ZAMBIA CORRECTIONAL SERVICE OFFICER LUMEKA KATUNDU

By Michael Himusa Jnr

‎The Zambia National Service (ZNS) says it has commenced internal disciplinary proceedings against Sergeant Rhodah Njobvu, following her involvement in an explicit video that has gone viral on social media.

LEAKED VIDEO ALLEGEDLY INVOLVING ZNS SERGEANT AND ATHLETE RHODAH NJOBVU SPARKS PUBLIC DEBATE ON PRIVACY AND PROFESSIONALISM

LEAKED VIDEO ALLEGEDLY INVOLVING ZNS SERGEANT AND ATHLETE RHODAH NJOBVU SPARKS PUBLIC DEBATE ON PRIVACY AND PROFESSIONALISM

A video alleged to involve renowned Zambian athlete and Zambia National Service (ZNS) officer Rhodah Njobvu has surfaced online, triggering a storm of reactions across social media and raising pressing questions about privacy, professionalism, and digital ethics.

The content, which appears to show an intimate and highly personal moment between two individuals identified as Njobvu and a woman named Lumeka Katundu, was leaked without context or consent. The clip has gone viral just days after another high-profile incident involving leaked adult material and the arrests of media figures Mwaka Halwiindi, David Kazadi, and Ruby Mazandu.

While many have expressed shock and disappointment, others have called for a more nuanced approach. “It’s one thing to hold public figures to high standards, but it’s another to criminalize their private lives — especially when the content appears to have been leaked without consent,” said a Lusaka-based digital rights advocate.

Njobvu, a decorated sprinter and national figure, has yet to issue a public statement. The ZNS command and other relevant authorities have also remained tight-lipped, though sources indicate that internal reviews may be underway.

Legal experts warn that the circulation of such videos could violate Zambia’s Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act, particularly sections concerning revenge porn, harassment, and the unlawful distribution of intimate material.

“There’s a fine line between public interest and public intrusion,” said human rights lawyer Mwandwe Chilala. “We must remember that behind every viral video is a real person, with dignity, rights, and a reputation at stake.”

Meanwhile, social media has become a digital courtroom, with many users quick to judge, mock, or defend the athlete. Others have taken a more reflective stance, questioning why women in particular face harsher public condemnation for private behavior.

The unfolding situation has once again placed the spotlight on the responsibility of digital users, the media, and institutions in handling sensitive content especially when it involves individuals in public service or national representation.

LUNGU FAMILY DENIES SECRET TALKS WITH HH OVER LUNGU’S REMAINS
…….“WHO IS HH TALKING TO?” – Lawyer Makebi Zulu Responds to President’s Claims

ECL FAMILY DENIES SECRET TALKS WITH HH OVER LUNGU’S REMAINS
…….“WHO IS HH TALKING TO?” – Lawyer Makebi Zulu Responds to President’s Claims

By Mast Reporter
The family of the late former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu has dismissed claims by Republican President Hakainde Hichilema that there are ongoing “quiet engagements” between State House and the Lungu family over the late leader’s burial.

Speaking on behalf of the Lungu family, lawyer Makebi Zulu said no such discussions have taken place and challenged the Head of State to clarify who he has been speaking to, if indeed any engagements exist.

“We are not aware of any negotiations or engagements, formal or informal, between the family and the government,” Zulu stated. “So the question we must ask is: who exactly is the President talking to?”

President Hichilema, during a recent media briefing, had claimed that his administration was in behind-the-scenes talks with the Lungu family regarding the handling of the late former president’s remains and related arrangements. The statement was widely interpreted as a sign of thawing tensions between the two camps.

However, Zulu’s remarks appear to directly contradict that narrative, casting doubt on the authenticity of the president’s claims. He maintained that the Lungu family has not been approached through any official or unofficial channel and remains unaware of any outreach efforts.

“We find it concerning that such statements are being made without actual consultation,” Zulu said. “Issues surrounding the late president’s legacy and final rites are deeply personal and national they deserve honesty and transparency.”

Zulu further cautioned the government against politicizing Lungu’s death or using it as a tool for public relations. He insisted that the family remains open to respectful and formal dialogue if the government has genuine intentions.

“As a family, we are not interested in media stunts. We are interested in dignity, closure, and truth,” he added.

The conflicting statements have stirred fresh controversy, further complicating an already sensitive national issue. Observers now await a clarification from State House on who is representing the Lungu family in the alleged “quiet engagements.”

As the public and political stakeholders continue to weigh in, the question remains: If the Lungu family is not talking to President Hichilema then who is?

Chris Zumani Zimba Survives Alleged Staged Car Accident in Chilling Midnight Ordeal

Former Presidential Advisor Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba Survives Alleged Staged Car Accident in Chilling Midnight Ordeal

In what can only be described as a divine escape from the jaws of death, former State House Political Advisor Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba has survived a harrowing and bizarre late-night car accident that he strongly believes was a staged assassination attempt. The incident occurred around 22:00 hours on Thursday night along Great East Road near Meanwood Ndeke.

Dr. Zimba, a respected political scientist and author, recounted the terrifying episode in a firsthand narrative that has since gone viral, stirring concern and awe in equal measure.

“I saw death. But God said no.”

According to Dr. Zimba, he had just dropped off a family friend and was heading home while listening to prophetic prayers on the radio. Driving calmly at 80km/h, he was still immersed in worship when out of nowhere a loud crash violently jolted his car. A speeding, unregistered vehicle had struck the driver’s side, pushing his large 4X4 off the tarmac and into a roadside drainage system.

“I saw death,” he said. “The car lost balance and slid deeper into the drain, almost overturning. But I kept praying‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus’ and somehow I remained conscious and calm. God helped me keep the car upright.”

The impact was so intense that he initially believed it was a truck. Yet in a matter of seconds, the attacking vehicle and another close behind vanished without a trace.

Suspicious Patterns and Ghostly Pursuers

The sequence of events that followed has only deepened the suspicion that this was no ordinary accident.

“I knew it was staged,” Zimba told nearby bystanders, including three men who appeared shortly afterward. “They were after my life, not the car.”

Within five minutes, another unregistered vehicle this time a Toyota Vitz arrived and parked directly opposite the crash site. The occupants never exited but observed him closely, arousing suspicions of foul play.

“They asked if I needed help, but I told them we were fine. They didn’t insist. They just drove off into the night,” Zimba said, calling the behavior “predatory” and likening the men to “hyenas circling their prey.”

Divine Intervention or Coincidence?

In a surprising twist, the first three men who came across the scene initially dismissed as late-night revelers turned out to be the unexpected heroes of the night. Though doubtful at first, Zimba allowed them to attempt retrieving the vehicle. In less than five minutes, the men managed to reverse the SUV back out of the drainage using sheer wit and manpower.

“They handed me the keys and told me to go home safely. They refused any reward,” he shared. “These were God-sent Samaritans.”

A Political Target?

Dr. Zimba’s suspicions have raised eyebrows in both political and religious circles. A seasoned strategist and one-time advisor to former President Edgar Lungu, he’s been vocal in political discussions and a key figure behind the controversial Tonse Alliance realignment.

While no official police report has yet confirmed foul play, Zimba’s account laced with scripture and conviction points to a spiritual and political battle far beyond the crash site.

“This was evil at its best,” he concluded. “But Numbers 23:23 reminds us: ‘There is no sorcery against Jacob, nor divination against Israel. It must be said—Oh, what God has done!’”

Public Reaction

Zambians on social media have poured out messages of relief and support, while others are calling for an investigation into the possibility of politically motivated attacks on opposition-linked figures.

The Lusaka Traffic Division is yet to issue a formal statement. Meanwhile, Dr. Zimba says he remains grateful but alert.

“I am alive because of God’s grace. This was not just an accident—it was a message. But I also have one: No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper.”

There Is No Evidence To Suggest That Edgar Lungu Wished To Be Buried Abroad- Attorney General Kabesha

Attorney-General Mulilo Kabesha has told a South African court that there is no evidence to suggest that former President Edgar Lungu wished to be buried abroad.

Mr. Kabesha’s submission comes in response to claims made by the Lungu family, particularly former First Lady Esther Lungu, regarding the late president’s burial preferences.

In earlier testimony, Mrs. Lungu had admitted that her husband did not specify any burial arrangements or wishes in his will.

However, she stated that during the former president’s stay in South Africa, he had been consistent in expressing his desire that President Hakainde Hichilema should have no involvement with his body upon his death.

Mrs. Lungu further argued that her late husband feared he would not be afforded a dignified funeral if his remains were handled in Zambia.

In a counter-submission, Mr. Kabesha maintained that the absence of explicit instructions or documented wishes from Mr. Lungu meant that the narrative of a burial abroad could not stand as fact.

He asserted that the evidence presented in court strongly suggests that the former head of state never formally or informally requested to be laid to rest outside Zambia.

The matter has since attracted significant public interest, particularly given the political rivalry between Mr. Lungu and President Hichilema, which continues to color public discourse around the late president’s legacy and final rites.

The South African court is expected to consider both sides’ arguments before delivering its ruling on the matter.

Miles takes walk of shame after Speaker sends him back to back bench

‘FACEBOOK comments bannist’ and surviving former PF president Miles Sampa was yesterday forced to walk “miles” away from the seat of the leader of opposition in parliament back to his usual back bencher seat after he assumed the front seat meant for leader of opposition.

Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti earlier joked that Miles was the leader of back benchers, but the Matero MP missed the sarcasm and proudly stood up and strutted all the way to the front.

But before he could even spend a second on the seat, Mutti ordered him back to his passenger seat.

“You will be named honorable member for Matero, can you take your seat please, you risk being named. You are not the leader of the opposition,” said Mutti.

“I can see power is very sweet, especially when you lose it. It’s very sweet indeed.”

The Boba TV content creator was now left with no choice but to take the long walk back to his designated seat while soaked in embarrassment.

we are yet to meet the leaders of BETUZ- Fred M’membe

We are a party of and for those who toil. We are a party for all our people in their diversities and complexities.

As such, we are duty bound to meet with all the authentic leaders and representatives of all our people – traditional leaders, religious leaders, business leaders, labour leaders, professionals, leaders of cooperatives, and so on and so forth.

And we have met with most of these leaders of our people, and we will continue to do so. This is the way our political leadership should be conducted and will be conducted. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing so.

We have had many meetings with trade union leaders. But we are yet to meet the leaders of BETUZ. God willing, and with his grace, we will soon meet with them if they are not intimidated by Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s false claims. And we don’t need to do it under the cover of darkness or secretly because it is not a crime or something that is legally and morally wrong to do.

We are a party of the people, and we will endeavour as far  as possible to meet with all the leaders of our people, including those of BETUZ. And why should that trouble Mr Hichilema and give him sleepless nights?

Does Mr Hichilema understand why the freedoms of association and expression are guaranteed to all our people in the Constitution?

From Beatings to Power: How a Lost Cow Shaped HH’ Politics

By Linda Banks

It was a quiet morning in Sussex, the kind that gently wraps itself around your senses. The sun was just beginning its slow climb above the hedgerows, painting the sky in soft pastels of amber and rose.

A delicate breeze stirred the lavender lining my garden path, and the early birdsong danced through the stillness like a private orchestra. Wrapped in a shawl and nursing my first cup of tea, I was alone with my thoughts, until I wasn’t.

The President’s voice broke into my morning day dream, not in person but through a recording I had been asked to review. And as he spoke, something in the tone, soft, almost reluctant…..began to shift the ground beneath my calm. Within seconds, Sussex melted away. In its place, my mind was transported thousands of miles to a different sunrise, one not cushioned by blossoms or birdsong but by the red biting dust of Bwengwe, Southern Province.

There, in the hazy golden light, I saw a young boy, barefoot, hungry, and weathered by hours under the Zambian sun. His name was Sammy. He had spent the day herding cattle across the dry land, a task that started with youthful excitement but slowly drained him of energy as the sun reached its peak. As evening approached, the first stars whispering overhead, Sammy realised with dread that one cow had gone missing. Panic set in. He couldn’t go home without it.

And when he did return, without the cow, what awaited him was not a mother’s comforting embrace , a hot meal and a well done son for such hard work, but it was punishment, a heavy beating.

“When a cow got lost,” President Hakainde Hichilema recalled quietly, “I came home to a heavy beating by male relatives and my mother was not helpful. She poured water on my bed so that I could not sleep… and sent me back to the woods until I came back with the lost cow.”

It is a sentence that lingers, brutal in its simplicity, yet searing in its implication. This wasn’t just a memory. It was a scar. A private grief, shared in a public moment. And perhaps, it is a key to understanding the man behind the presidential seal: the leader shaped by pain, by resilience, and by the unspoken ache of a childhood spent fighting for dignity. As a scribe, I couldn’t help but wish I was the one interviewing him, I would have asked “Mr President, how has this experience shaped the way you are governing Zambia today”.

In that tender Sussex dawn, I realised: this story wasn’t just about a boy and a cow. It was about a country, and the quiet, powerful ways in which hardship carves out the character of a leader

My eyes are getting increasingly moist and the pages of my notebook are stained with teardrops. As a mother, my trembling hand cannot ink the rest of this story. I will be back to dissect how this childhood trauma spills into his treatment of his subordinates and citizens.

To be continued.….. ✍

MINISTRY’S DRC MAIZE EXPORT POSITION CORRECT, I HAD WRONG INFORMATION – FRA BOARD CHAIR

MINISTRY’S DRC MAIZE EXPORT POSITION CORRECT, I HAD WRONG INFORMATION – FRA BOARD CHAIR

FRA Board Chairperson Suresh Desai has admitted that he was misinformed regarding a government MoU to export maize to the Democratic Republic of Congo, stating that the Ministry of Agriculture’s clarification is the correct position.

On Friday, acting Minister of Agriculture Peter Kapala clarified that government had not entered into any Memorandum of Understanding with the Democratic Republic of Congo regarding the export of maize or mealie meal.

This statement came a day after the FRA announced that Zambia had signed an MoU with the DRC to export one million metric tonnes of surplus maize. Kapala explained that government had only received export inquiries for maize from the DRC, and negotiations were still ongoing.

PRESIDENT HH DESERVES RESPECT: A REBUTTAL TO DR. FRED MMEMBE’S ARTICLE

PRESIDENT HH DESERVES RESPECT: A REBUTTAL TO DR. FRED MMEMBE’S ARTICLE

By: Timmy

Dr. Fred Mmembe’s recent article questioning President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership style is a clear attempt to undermine the President’s hard work and dedication to Zambia’s development. As a seasoned leader, President HH has consistently demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of Zambians.

✅Leadership Qualities: President HH’s background in cattle rearing has instilled in him valuable leadership qualities, including hard work, discipline, and resilience. These traits have served him well in his presidency, enabling him to drive meaningful development initiatives.

✅Free Education: The UPND government, led by President HH, has made significant strides in implementing free education, a promise that has improved access to education for many Zambians. This is a testament to the government’s commitment to its manifesto.

✅Accountability:Unlike some critics, President HH’s administration is transparent about its plans and progress. The government’s focus on development and people-centered policies is evident in its actions.

✅Respectful Leadership:Dr. Mmembe’s article suggests that President HH’s leadership style is somehow inferior due to his “cattle culture.” However, this perspective overlooks the President’s proven track record of effective leadership.

✅ President HH’s leadership is built on hard work, dedication, and a commitment to Zambia’s development. As we look towards 2026, it’s clear that he is the best candidate to lead Zambia forward.

ENVOY KAPAMBWE LIGHTS UP A POSTIVE TRUMP LIGHT “TIMELY WAKE-UP CALL” AS AFRICAN ENVOYS LAUNCH CONTINENT-WIDE LEAGUE

ENVOY KAPAMBWE LIGHTS UP A POSTIVE TRUMP LIGHT “TIMELY WAKE-UP CALL” AS AFRICAN ENVOYS LAUNCH CONTINENT-WIDE LEAGUE

Amb. Anthony Mukwita wrote-

Lusaka, 20 July 2025 – Veteran Zambian diplomat Amb. Lazarus Kapambwe has stirred the foreign-policy waters with a blunt assessment of Washington’s 45th President: “Donald Trump is good for Africa.”

Addressing a glittering pre-inaugural dinner of the League of African Ambassadors at the Hyatt Regency (the former Taj Pamodzi), the Special Envoy Kapambwe told colleagues that Mr Trump’s decision to tighten USAID purse-strings “was the jolt our resource-rich continent needed. We do not need a hand-out; we need a hand-in.”

Among the guests, Amb. Anthony Mukwita, who served in Stockholm and Berlin as Ambassador, urged African governments to tap ex Ambassadors due to their accumulated know-how for various national assignments.

“In Western capitals former envoys remain on call for mediation and trade missions. Africa must flip that script—our institutional memory is too valuable to park in the rear mirror.”

Five ways ex-envoys can power mediation & economic diplomacy

1. Quiet back-channel mediators – seasoned Ambassadors already know the principal actors and can broker ceasefires long before formal talks begin.
2. Deal facilitators – their Rolodex of investors shortens the distance between African industrial projects and global capital.

3. Policy mentors – training young foreign-service officers sustains institutional memory and professional standards.
4. Multilateral bridge-builders – leveraging prior postings to secure favourable votes or financing in the AU, UN and international financial institutions.
5. Narrative shapers – using their credibility in global media to re-brand Africa as a value-adding hub, not a raw-material quarry.

What the new Charter says

The League’s 42-page Charter—formally adopted last October—plants its headquarters in Lusaka and opens membership to serving and retired ambassadors and high commissioners from every African state. Key provisions include:

• Mission & voice: champion a single, louder African message abroad; issue public statements only after Executive-Committee clearance and in line with AU positions.
• Economic renaissance: campaign to end the “export-of-ore” model by promoting value-addition chains in minerals, agriculture, energy, telecoms and the blue economy.

• Peace architecture: offer a standing panel of envoys for preventive diplomacy, conflict-resolution studies and on-the-ground shuttle mediation.
• Capacity building: create a mentorship academy so young diplomats inherit hard-won negotiating skills and continental history.
• Self-reliance: finance the League primarily through member dues, African philanthropy and home-grown endowments—foreign funding is rejected unless it meets tough anti-money-laundering rules.

Governance is entrusted to a ten-member Executive Committee rotating among Africa’s five regions, overseen by a Board of Trustees charged with safeguarding assets “in perpetual succession.” Annual General Sessions each January will approve budgets, elect officers and amend by-laws by two-thirds vote.

“Diplomacy is king”

Immediate former Ambassador of Nigeria to Zambia, Amb. Nwanne Ominyi, interim president of the League, set the bar high: seeking rapid accreditation to the AU, RECs and the UN “so Africa’s unified voice becomes unignorable.”

Congratulatory cables have already arrived from Addis Ababa and several regional blocs, welcoming what they call “a cadre of proven diplomatic trouble-shooters.”

Kapambwe closed the evening on a pragmatic note: “If Trump’s America First nudged Africa towards Africa First, history may judge the moment kindly, Africa First.”

His Excellency Didier Serge Tepupileka Bapaga, the Botshafter of the DRC to Zambia was also around to back his interim President from Nigeria, bravo Balozi.

With peace, unity and economic self-determination on the agenda, the League of African Ambassadors appears poised to turn accumulated protocol into active profit and peace dividends for the continent it once merely represented.
In diplomacy, everyone wins.
