PF PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT Brian MUNDUBILE MUST EXPLAIN TO ZAMBIANS’
By Timmy
For years now, the people of Zambia have been asking very serious questions regarding Mr. Brian Mundubile, former Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and now a PF presidential aspirant. Unfortunately, instead of providing clear answers, Mr. Mundubile has chosen to ignore or pretend that these concerns do not exist.
As citizens of this nation, we are left with no choice but to confront him directly:
1. How did several companies linked to you receive government contracts without you declaring interest as required by law? Tender regulations are clear constitutional office holders must declare any interest in the bidding process. Instead, it appears influence and privilege were abused to benefit personally from government contracts.
2. Who is behind Omni Construction? Zambians demand clarity on Omni Construction, a company that was awarded:
K65.9 million for 50 kilometers of the Ntumba–Nkole Mfumu feeder road in Kasama,
and another K49 million for 40 kilometers from Ntumba to Musowa road in Kasama.
Mr. Mundubile, the people want to know your true connection to this company.
3. What about Shimalata Engineering and Construction? This company was awarded 48 kilometers of the Kaputa to Mushindaila road in Lupososhi at a cost of K57.1 million. How close are your ties to this firm, and why has this not been openly disclosed?
4. Build Trust Construction Limited A company registered with you as a shareholder according to PACRA records was awarded K55 million for the 50-kilometer Njalamimba–Kalawe road in Mporokoso. Why did you fail to declare interest in this matter?
These are not small allegations. They go to the very heart of accountability and integrity in public service.
To those who argue, “If he delivered the projects, then there is no problem” — the answer is simple: the law does not say so. The law requires transparency. The law demands that leaders must not abuse their positions for personal gain.
It has now been over four years since PF lost power, and yet Mr. Mundubile has failed to give convincing answers to these questions. Zambians are still waiting. Pretending to respond while dodging the real issues will not work.
The people of this nation deserve honesty. They deserve leaders who put the country first not personal pockets.

FRA PURCHASES OVER A MILLION METRIC TONNES OF MAIZE AS THE 2025 CROP MARKETING SEASON PROGRESSES
Here are the highlights from the press release by FRA Acting Executive Director Justin Chuunka.
✅The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has purchased 1,225,215 metric tonnes of non-genetically modified Grade A white maize from farmers across Zambia as of August 31, 2025.
✅This significant purchase underscores the agency’s commitment to supporting local farmers and enhancing national food security.
✅This quantity translates to approximately 24,504,300 bags of maize, with each bag weighing 50 kilograms, highlighting the substantial volume of maize acquired by the FRA.
✅The FRA operated 1,586 satellite depots nationwide to facilitate these purchases, ensuring widespread accessibility for farmers to sell their maize.
✅The agency will continue to buy surplus maize from farmers to replenish the National Strategic Food Reserves, and all satellite depots will remain open until all designated crops are purchased, demonstrating the FRA’s dedication to stockpiling food reserves.
✅The FRA attributes the successful purchases to competitive crop prices, effective agricultural policies, and favourable weather conditions, which have collectively contributed to a bumper harvest.
✅The agency urges farmers to sell excess maize to the government through FRA depots, while reserving enough for household use to ensure national food security, emphasizing the importance of balancing personal needs with national interests.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS THAT ZAMBIANS’ STILL DESERVE TO KNOW
By Timmy
As Zambians, we must never shy away from seeking the truth, especially on matters that concern how public resources were managed in the past. Our people have carried the burden of corruption and mismanagement for far too long, and even as the New Dawn Government under President Hakainde Hichilema works hard to rebuild the economy, these lingering questions must still be answered.
Mr. Mundubile, with all due respect, the citizens of Zambia are still asking:
1. Is it true that you got road contracts worth ZMW400 million since PF power took over, but only implemented works worth less than ZMW200 million despite being paid the full ZMW400 million?
2. Is it true that in Sinda you were paid 100% of the contract value, but only delivered less than 40% of the works under a company known as Build Trust?
3. Were you used as a conduit for siphoning money from government coffers on behalf of the former goverment of which you where party off ?
4. Were your companies part of a larger scheme to divert government funds into PF party activities instead of delivering services to the people?
These are not small allegations they are questions that cut to the very heart of accountability, transparency, and justice. And yet, instead of addressing them, some leaders from the previous administration now attempt to portray themselves as defenders of the people, pretending that Zambians are not asking these very serious questions.
The truth is: Zambians are asking. They want clarity. They deserve honesty. And until these matters are openly addressed, the credibility of those involved will remain in doubt.
The UPND government has committed itself to fighting corruption and ensuring that public funds are used for development, not political enrichment. That is why citizens continue to place their confidence in President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership because they can see a clear break from the past.
But for true healing and accountability, those who held power before must step forward and respond. Pretending these questions do not exist will not erase them.
Fellow citizens, do you also want answers to these questions? Share, comment, and like our page because accountability belongs to the people.
UPND’s Unstoppable Momentum vs PF and Opposition’s Empty Politics
By Tobbius C. Hamunkoyo
Mark Simuuwe, Media Director for the United Party for National Development (UPND), has declared that President Hakainde Hichilema is firmly on track for victory in 2026.
The by-election results speak for themselves, Zambians trust UPND because we are delivering in most sectors of Governance. The opposition has no vision, no policies, and no plan for this country,” he said . Simuuwe stressed that the people are choosing progress over empty slogans.
He directly attacked the Patriotic Front (PF), saying, “The PF had ten years and left Zambia drowning in debt, corruption, and institutional collapse.
Today, they parade the same tired faces, Nakachinda, Given Lubinda, and others, offering nothing but recycled lies. Zambians cannot entrust their future to those who destroyed the economy,” referencing Auditor General’s reports that exposed massive plunder, Simuuwe said.
Simuuwe contrasted that with UPND’s delivery: “We promised free education, and it is here. We promised jobs, and over 45,000 teachers plus 16,000 plus health workers have been recruited.
We promised reforms in agriculture, and farmers are receiving inputs on time. We are investing in energy, ending load-shedding, and creating opportunities for the youth. UPND delivers; PF only talks.
Closing his statement, Simuuwe was uncompromising: “The PF can insult all they want, but Zambians will not go back to the darkness they created.
Under President Hakainde Hichilema, Zambia is regaining its dignity, attracting investors, reviving industries, and rebuilding brick by brick. In 2026, the choice is clear, progress with UPND or chaos with the opposition. And Zambians will not choose chaos
The suspension of Dr. Larry Mweetwa, Director in the Ministry of Technology and Science, for posting on his personal Facebook account information relating to the administration of the funeral and burial of the late Sixth President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, is nothing but a smokescreen. It is a carefully choreographed performance meant to hoodwink the Lungu family into believing that, this time, the government is serious about negotiations and can be trusted.
Secondly, it is designed to reinforce the government’s narrative that the powers given to Patrick Kangwa, Secretary to the Cabinet, are real and enforceable. After the collapse of earlier talks, the government knows that trust has been deeply eroded.
By designating Kangwa as the sole spokesperson on the burial issue, President Hichilema is attempting to ride on the limited trust that the family has extended to the Secretary to the Cabinet. Kangwa has now been given leeway to commit the government to undertakings designed to deceive the family into agreeing to bring the body.
In this vein, the suspension by Kangwa’s subordinate is nothing more than political theatre. It is aimed at creating the impression that anyone who disregards the Secretary to the Cabinet’s exclusive authority on the funeral matter will face disciplinary action. This is about optics, not sincerity.
If President Hichilema truly meant well, he would have dismantled his rogue media platforms Koswe and Watchdog, which are run from State House and serve as the headquarters of those dedicated to insulting the Lungu family. In fact, Watchdog renewed its mockery of the family as recently as Tuesday, September 2nd, when it posted “it’s finally coming home,” only to delete the post after satisfying itself that the insult had been delivered.
If HH were genuine, he would also have suspended Frederick Msebenzi and Brian Mwinga, the administrators of these propaganda platforms. He would have suspended the Minister of Muchinga Province, who publicly insulted the deceased.
Let the Lungu family not be hoodwinked. What they have done to Mweetwa is mere performance. He has not been punished; he has simply been told to enjoy working from home while the government puts on a show of toughness.
MINISTRY OF HEALTH DISMISSES CLAIMS THAT GOV’T HAS INTRODUCED MANDATORY HIV TESTING
The Ministry of Health has noted with concern a rumor circulating on social media claiming that Zambia has introduced mandatory HIV testing.
We wish to categorically state that this information is false and did not originate from the Ministry of Health. Such misinformation is misleading and has the potential to discourage people from seeking medical care when they are unwell.
The Ministry of Health would like to assure the public that HIV testing is voluntary and confidential. No one will be forced to test for HIV when they visit a health facility.
However, in line with national and global guidelines, when an individual consents to HIV testing and tests positive, it is mandatory to initiate treatment immediately. This is to protect their health and prevent further transmission of the virus.
We encourage the public to continue visiting health facilities without fear whenever they feel unwell. Your health and well-being remain our top priority.

Shoprite Zambia: A Cornerstone of Local Industry and Economic Empowerment An appreciation by Rev Walter Mwambazi
Let me start off immediately by stating that Shoprite hasn’t paid me a Ngwee for this, or even requested such a write up. I am doing this of my own cognizance of what is in my opinion one of the best FDIs today. If more FDIs did what Shoprite has done, we would see much better partnerships and genuine local empowerment, unlike what I see in some other sectors I won’t mention here.
So, with that out of the way, let’s dig in now, shall we? In Zambia’s dynamic retail landscape, Shoprite has emerged not only as a leading supermarket chain but as a strategic partner in national development. Since opening its first store in Lusaka along Cairo Road next to the he Post Office in 1995 (still operating even today), Shoprite has expanded to 45 stores across the country, becoming a household name and a key player in Zambia’s economic ecosystem [Zambia Development Agency Annual Report, 2023].
🇿🇲 Local Sourcing and Industry Growth One of Shoprite’s most impactful contributions is its commitment to local sourcing. Today, over 80% of the products stocked in Shoprite Zambia stores are locally produced, a milestone achieved through deliberate partnerships with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and a network of suppliers and producers [ZDA–Shoprite Supplier Development Report, 2022].
This collaboration has not only increased local content but also raised the quality of Zambian goods to international standards. Shoprite has facilitated training, compliance support, and logistical integration for suppliers, enabling them to meet global benchmarks and compete regionally [ZDA Stakeholder Engagement Summary, 2022]. Many may not be aware but a number of local suppliers have been able to enter new markets through its distribution network chief among them the Trade Kings Group.
👷 Employment and Economic Impact Shoprite is also one of Zambia’s largest private employers. With over 7,000 workers employed directly and indirectly, the company plays a vital role in job creation, especially for youth and women [Labour Force Survey, Zambia Statistics Agency, 2023]. The ripple effect is significant: assuming each employee supports an average of six dependents, Shoprite indirectly empowers over 42,000 Zambians through income stability and household support.
In addition to employment, Shoprite is a major contributor to tax revenue, helping strengthen Zambia’s fiscal base and public service funding [Zambia Revenue Authority Corporate Taxpayer Summary, 2023].
🏬 Strategic Presence and Regional Dominance With 45 stores nationwide, Shoprite’s retail footprint is unmatched. Its dominance is particularly evident in Lusaka, where profit margins from stores in the capital reportedly exceed the total turnover of Shoprite operations in Malawi, Botswana, and Namibia individually [Shoprite Holdings Annual Report, 2023]. This performance highlights Zambia’s robust consumer market and Shoprite’s strategic positioning within it.
🤝 Why Shoprite Is a Strategic Partner for Zambia Shoprite’s success is deeply intertwined with Zambia’s development goals. Here’s why in my opinion they stand out as a transformative partner:
👉🏾 Local Empowerment: By sourcing over 80% of products locally, Shoprite stimulates agriculture, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. 👉🏾 Quality Advancement: Through ZDA collaboration, Shoprite has helped elevate local goods to international standards. 👉🏾 Employment Engine: With 7,000+ jobs and indirect support for tens of thousands, Shoprite is a pillar of economic stability.
👉🏾 Tax Contributions: As a top corporate taxpayer, Shoprite strengthens Zambia’s public sector capacity. 👉🏾 Regional Benchmarking: Lusaka’s Shoprite stores outperform regional counterparts, positioning Zambia as a retail leader.
Shoprite Zambia is more than a supermarket – it’s a catalyst for inclusive growth, industrial development, and national empowerment. Its model of strategic collaboration, local investment, and economic impact makes it a cornerstone of Zambia’s future.
So, next time you are in Shoprite, please take a moment to walk over to the store manager (who tend to be running up and down in the store) to thank them for the great work they as a store are doing to add to the national GDP and betterment of life quality for the Zambian people!
Picture Credit: This is the Cairo Road Shoprite, first store that the group opened in Zambia back in 1995. This store was previously known as NIEC Stores!
FRA SECURES OVER 1.2 MILLION TONNES OF MAIZE – HH’s VISION FOR FOOD SECURITY TAKING SHAPE
By Timmy
The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has recorded a historic milestone in the ongoing 2025 crop marketing season, with the purchase of 1,225,215 metric tonnes of non-GMO Grade A white maize from farmers across Zambia by August 31, 2025.
This translates to an impressive 24.5 million bags of maize, each weighing 50 kilograms, reflecting the growing capacity of Zambia’s agricultural sector under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema and the New Dawn Government.
According to FRA Acting Executive Director Justin Chuunka, the agency operated 1,586 satellite depots nationwide, ensuring farmers from every corner of the country had access to reliable markets. This wide coverage not only made selling easier for small-scale farmers but also reinforced government’s commitment to rural development and inclusivity.
The FRA confirmed that depots will remain open to buy surplus maize until all designated crops are secured, in line with efforts to replenish the National Strategic Food Reserves. This is a deliberate step towards shielding the nation from food insecurity and ensuring stable supplies for the future.
The bumper harvest and successful maize purchases are attributed to favourable weather conditions, competitive crop prices, and above all, progressive agricultural policies implemented by the UPND administration. These policies continue to inspire confidence among farmers, motivating them to produce more and contribute to the country’s food security.
Mr. Chuunka further urged farmers to sell their excess maize through FRA depots, while keeping enough for household consumption, stressing the importance of balancing family needs with national interests.
This achievement is a clear demonstration that the New Dawn Government is delivering on its promise to strengthen agriculture, support local farmers, and secure Zambia’s food future.
🚨What was meant to be the happiest day of their lives turned into an explosive spectacle on Saturday, when a lavish, fairy-tale wedding descended into shocking mayhem.
Guests gasped in disbelief as the bride and groom still in their pristine wedding attire engaged in a heated physical fight right in front of stunned family and friends.
The trigger? Moments before the cake cutting, the groom allegedly discovered a bombshell truth that the woman he had vowed to spend forever with had not one, but three children, shattering the story she had told him.
Tension boiled over, and in a matter of seconds, the romantic celebration transformed into a whirlwind of anger, accusations, and flying fists.
What began as a love story ended in scandal, leaving the audience speechless and the couple’s future hanging by a thread. 💔
PF, MILES CONSENT WON’T HELP – KBF … because Chabinga is the legal president of the party
Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) leader Kelvin Bwalya Fube, popularly known as KBF, says the consent judgment entered into between the PF and their Matero member of parliament Miles Sampa will not help because Robert Chabinga is the legal president of the party.
Fube was commenting on the consent judgement entered into between Brian Mundubile and 7 others and Sampa, where it was agreed that the meeting conducted by the latter on October 24, 2023 was null and void, and that all actions, decisions and appointments made by the defendant were null and void.
The PF have questioned the court’s refusal to sign the consent since it was entered into by the parties involved.
But in his messages posted in the Tonse Alliance Council of Presidents whatsapp group, and seen by Daily Revelation, on the matter, Fube argued that Sampa could not give the former ruling party what he did not
HH IS MISTAKEN IF HE THINKS 2026 WILL BE A SMOOTH RIDE – MUHABI
ZAMBIA We Want Spokesperson Muhabi Lungu says President Hakainde Hichilema is mistaken if he thinks the 2026 general elections will be a smooth ride for him.
Lungu says the potential to defeat the UPND next year is very high, especially if at least 60% of strong opposition political parties agree to work together.
Speaking when he featured on Millennium TV, Monday, Lungu said the opposition would be ready for the elections next year.
“I want it to be clear that I don’t think that it is entirely correct to suggest that the opposition don’t have a message” he said.
Larry Mweetwa Suspended for Issuing Insults Against the ECL Family on Facebook
Director, Technology and Science suspended for issuing sensitive and unauthorized public statements on his Facebook Page.
This is according to a letter dated 25th August 2025 signed Ministry of Science and Technology, Brilliant Habeenzu to Mweetwa.
“As you may be aware, Cabinet Office Circular Minute No. 24 of 2025 clearly stipulated that the Secretary to the Cabinet will be the sole and exclusive source for all official statements on the on-going court case and burial process and that all Ministries and Government Agencies were requested to refrain from issuing public statements or commenting on the matter.”
Last week Larry Mweetwa apologized to the Edgar Lungu Family for issuing caustic and insulting statements.
Civil society leader Brebner Changala used an appearance on EMV to accuse Zambia’s government of systematically weakening the country’s largest opposition party, the Patriotic Front, through a mix of administrative maneuvers, judicial stasis, and selective law enforcement. “This is not about PF vs UPND, it is about the survival of democracy,” he said, arguing that institutional checks are being bent to partisan ends.
Changala’s charge lands amid a two-year leadership dispute inside the PF that has repeatedly spilled into the courts. A March 25, 2025 High Court ruling details how competing factions asked judges to referee who may lawfully act as party president and whether the Registrar of Societies acted within the law when altering PF office bearers on the official register. The court noted that formal recognition of party office bearers turns on registration by the Registrar and declined to prejudge the presidency while a related judicial review of the Registrar’s decision is pending. The case file illustrates the administrative chokepoints that can shape a party’s viability between elections.
The broader context is a narrowing civic space documented by international monitors. The US State Department’s 2024 human-rights report cites “significant issues,” including limits on expression and assembly, while Freedom House reports arrests and permit denials targeting opposition gatherings. UN human-rights officials last year urged authorities to halt a “downward spiral” of infringements on core freedoms. These findings echo Changala’s account that opposition figures face swift prosecutions while system-level disputes that would restore parity move slowly.
Civil society groups have raised similar alarms. Amnesty International and Zambia’s Chapter One Foundation called in June 2024 for an end to an “escalating crackdown” on expression, association, and peaceful assembly, citing attacks on opposition parties and journalists. CIVICUS, a global alliance that tracks civic freedoms, describes persistent restrictions on rallies and speech since 2021. These outside assessments give Changala’s claims a documentary backdrop that extends beyond partisan grievance.
Law and policy shifts in the digital sphere have also become a flashpoint. Scholars and rights groups argue that Zambia’s cyber laws, including recent updates, entrench wide discretion to police online speech, risking criminalization of political dissent. Changala frames these statutes as part of a toolkit that chills criticism and keeps rivals on the defensive.
What emerges from the EMV interview is a picture of “suppression by process” rather than single dramatic acts. Registration records, parliamentary procedure, police permits, and court calendars become battlegrounds.
To Changala, the cumulative effect is to tilt the playing field before voters ever reach a ballot box. Whether Zambian authorities can reassure skeptics will hinge on visible progress in disputed party cases, consistent policing of assemblies across parties, and reforms that place key watchdogs at arm’s length from the executive. The pending court matters around PF recognition are one near-term test of that commitment.
Open Letter to President Harry Kalaba, Sean Tembo, Fred M’membe, Given Lubinda, and All Opposition Political Parties
I write to you not only as a concerned citizen but as a voice echoing the collective frustrations, hopes, and aspirations of millions of Zambians who yearn for a better tomorrow.
As our nation stands on the brink of another decisive election, we are reminded that the stakes have never been higher. The time to swallow pride, set aside personal differences, and unite as opposition political parties is now.
For far too long, we have witnessed a divided opposition landscape, one characterized by competition within rather than cooperation against the common challenges facing our people.
Each election cycle comes with promises of change, yet those promises are too often lost amidst the noise of division, the clash of egos, and the prioritization of party over people.
Zambians have grown weary of this pattern. They are calling loudly and clearly for a united opposition that can speak with one voice, offer a credible alternative, and lead this nation towards a future of prosperity, fairness, and accountability.
Our country is grappling with challenges that demand leadership beyond partisan interests. The cost of living continues to rise, essential commodities have become unaffordable for many households, unemployment remains high, and public confidence in governance is eroding.
These are not just statistics; they are the lived realities of millions of our brothers and sisters who struggle daily to make ends meet.
In the face of such difficulties, a fragmented opposition only serves to embolden the status quo. It divides the vote, weakens bargaining power, and leaves citizens with little choice but to endure more of the same.
On the other hand, a united opposition sends a powerful message: that the leaders seeking change are willing to lead by example willing to compromise, collaborate, and put the needs of the nation before personal gain.
President Harry Kalaba , your experience and resilience have made you a prominent figure in the political arena. Sean E. Tembo , your passion for accountability and vocal criticism of governance lapses have inspired many. Dr Fred M’membe , your commitment to social justice and the voice of the voiceless is respected across the country.
Given Lubinda , your political experience and understanding of Zambia’s political fabric is an asset that cannot be ignored. And to all other opposition political parties and their leader each of you has a piece of the puzzle that Zambia needs to complete its picture of progress.
Imagine what could be achieved if these pieces were put together. Imagine the power of a coalition that represents the diversity of our political spectrum, united by a shared vision: to restore dignity to governance, to prioritize the welfare of the people, and to strengthen democracy in our nation.
Zambians are tired of empty promises and endless bickering. They do not want to see opposition parties fighting each other more than they fight for the people.
They do not want manifestos written in isolation, only to be discarded at the ballot box. What they want is a practical, united force that can offer real solutions to the challenges they face.
History teaches us that no single leader can transform a nation alone. Transformation requires collaboration, negotiation, and often sacrifice. Great leaders are those who know when to set aside their own ambitions for the sake of the people they serve.
The question before you now is simple: will you be remembered as the generation of leaders who stood together and turned the tide, or as those who let division pave the way for continued suffering?
Unity does not mean the erasure of individual party identities or the silencing of differing views. It means building a coalition that respects diversity while prioritizing shared goals.
This could take many forms: a united electoral front, joint policy platforms, shared campaign strategies, or even a single presidential candidate with a united parliamentary and local government backing.
The first step is dialogue genuine, open, and focused on the bigger picture. This is not the time for power struggles or suspicion. It is the time for bold, visionary leadership. Convene, converse, and craft a way forward that reflects the collective will of the opposition and, more importantly, the will of the Zambian people.
The upcoming elections are not just another contest for political power. They are a crossroads at which the future of our nation will be decided. Each of you has an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy not merely as party leaders, but as statesmen who rose above personal ambition to serve the greater good.
Years from now, when history tells the story of this chapter in Zambia’s political journey, how do you wish to be remembered? As leaders who clung to pride and divided the opposition when unity was most needed? Or as patriots who dared to come together and deliver hope to a struggling nation?
This letter is not a plea from one individual alone. It reflects the sentiment of countless Zambians who see unity as the only viable path to meaningful change.
They want leaders who listen, leaders who collaborate, and leaders who can deliver. They are ready to support a united opposition if only you will show them that you are ready to unite.
The clock is ticking, and the window for action is closing with each passing day. The ruling party is not waiting; it is strategizing, organizing, and consolidating its power.
Will the opposition do the same, or will it once again approach the ballot as a collection of scattered forces, each pulling in its own direction?
Time for hesitation has passed. The time for dialogue, for humility, and for decisive action is here. Swallow your pride, extend your hands to one another, and show the people that you are willing to do what it takes to win not only an election, but the trust and future of this great nation.
Zambians want a united opposition. The question is: will you give it to them?
FAZ REJECTS TRIBALISM CLAIMS AS FALSE, MALICIOUS AND DIVISIVE
PRESS STATEMENT (For Immediate Release)
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has noted with serious concern a list circulating on social media purporting to highlight alleged tribal bias in the composition of staff at the FAZ Secretariat.
We wish to categorically state that the said list is both misleading and deliberately selective. It has been crafted in bad faith, omitting several long-serving members of staff from different regions of our country who continue to serve diligently at Football House.
It is particularly saddening that at a time when, as a nation, we should all be focused on the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Morocco, detractors and enemies of the game are attempting to divert our energies to unsubstantiated issues. FAZ will not be distracted from its core mandate of preparing the Chipolopolo and promoting the growth of Zambian football. Football is and must remain a non partisan and unifying game beyond ethnic divides.
FAZ also wishes to stress that, in the spirit of professionalism and fair play, the Association will resist the temptation to disclose to third parties the reasons behind the separation from the Secretariat of certain individuals. Matters of employment and separation remain confidential, and FAZ will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity in handling such issues. Suffice it to state that FAZ is promoting unity and reconciliation and thus has chosen to avoid the path of law enforcement in certain matters of a serious criminal nature against some of the individuals involved.
While FAZ may not delve into the intricacies of each case, it is important to state that the separations have only been twofold, and these are, through expiration of contracts and/or by mutual consent. In all cases, full benefits including gratuity have been and will be honoured and paid when resources have been and are available. In the meantime, affected individuals have remained and will continue to remain on the payroll until all legal obligations are fulfilled for everybody who is no longer at FAZ.
We,therefore, urge all stakeholders and the general public to dismiss these divisive claims that are tribal in themselves and instead rally behind the national team and the Association as we continue the journey towards bettering Zambian football at all levels.
A YouTube page called “Muzungu Wamu Komboni” has appeared as one of the most persistent sewer of dirty propaganda agianst the former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
The channel is not ordinary.
Its narration carries the robotic tone of synthetic voices, its thumbnails show the plastic textures of generative images, and its scripts are filled with lies, defamation and poisonous hate, exaggerated claims and invented quotes.
This is not independent journalism. It is an AI propaganda machine.
One of its most striking falsehoods is the suggestion that South African President Cyril Ramaphosa told former First Lady Esther Lungu that South Africa is not a graveyard. State House imagination.
No such statement exists in any official transcript or credible report. The actual record from South African courts is respectful and formal.
The channel’s scriptwriters simply invented an insult to humiliate the Lungu family and ridicule the memory of the former head of state.
Opposition figures point to Community House as the hidden sponsor of this channel.
The allegation is that government resources are being poured into an AI operation designed to destroy Lungu’s legacy, embarrass his family, and weaken the Patriotic Front.
These allegations have not been officially confirmed, but the scale and frequency of the videos suggest a level of resourcing that goes far beyond casual commentary.
What makes the matter more disturbing is that government officials are at the same time calling for dialogue with the Lungu family over the burial dispute.
They speak of consensus and reconciliation, yet a stream of synthetic insults continues to flow online. It is a contradiction that undermines the sincerity of any negotiation. You cannot insult a family in the morning and expect their cooperation in the evening.
The court record is clear. On June 25 the Pretoria High Court halted the burial pending litigation. On August 8 the same court ordered that Lungu’s body be repatriated to Zambia for a state funeral. Later in August the Constitutional Court dismissed an appeal. Yet the channel described these events with titles such as Top Court Humiliates Lungu Family and Deportation Looms. These are not accurate accounts. They are distortions designed to inflame emotions and generate clicks.
This is more than a political game. It is a question of values and resources. At a time when ordinary Zambians are struggling with high prices, electricity shortages, and economic hardship, the idea that money is being spent on AI attack machines is offensive. It is a misuse of public resources and an abuse of power.
If President Hakainde Hichilema and his government want genuine dialogue with the Lungu family, they must prove it through action.
That means ending the smear campaigns, shutting down the propaganda factories, and respecting the dignity of a former head of state and his family. Anything less makes negotiations a hollow exercise.
History will judge harshly those who try to rewrite the truth with machines. Authentic leadership is built on honesty, not on synthetic voices and fabricated insults. Zambia deserves better than AI propaganda disguised as public debate.
….be rest assured that the PF will be more organized before the next elections, assures Mukandila
Lusaka… Wednesday September 3, 2025 – Tonse Alliance National Youth Chairperson Celestine Mambula Mukandila says the UPND should not be allowed to go beyond 2026.
Mr Mukandila says this is because the UPND has failed to deliver in all sectors.
He also assured the people of Zambia that they should expect a united Patriotic Front (PF) going into 2026.
Mr Mukandila, who is also a Lusaka based Lawyer, says in as much as there maybe divisions within the former ruling party PF, they will come out a stronger force to reckon with.
He stated that the UPND is threatened by the presence of the PF.
He said this when he featured on Spotlight Programme on Crown Television in Lusaka.
“The fact is that the PF remains a very attractive political party in the country. The Zambian people still love the Patriotic Front and the UPND is still threatened by the presence of the PF. As things stand, we must watch very carefully because we have always believed in unity of purpose. And we have always believed in reconcilation and our former Republican President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu believed in reconcilation and forgiveness and that is why he declared October 18th as a day of national prayer and reconcilation,” he said.
“You cannot have a house that does not have misunderstandings. But I can assure you that the PF is political party whose symbol is a boat and this boat should be understood as a one that cannot capsize. Actually a submarine can survive underwater. Right now I can assure you that we maybe underwater, but the Patriotic Front will survive. It will come on the surface of the water and it’s going to sail smoothly.”
Mr Mukandila further assured the people of Zambia that the PF leadership still has their interests at heart and willing to serve them.
“There maybe divisions, we had three but now we have two but eventually we will have a united political party.”
CHABINGA URGES PF FACTION TO KEEP PRESIDENT AND COURTS OUT OF PARTY WRANGLES
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Robert Chabinga, has advised the Patriotic Front (PF) faction to refrain from involving President Hakainde Hichilema and the courts in its internal party disputes.
Speaking during a press briefing in Mafinga, Mr. Chabinga stated that the PF wrangles began long before President Hichilema assumed office, and it is therefore unfair to accuse the President of sponsoring the confusion.
He was responding to social media posts in which some PF members issued an ultimatum to the courts, demanding a ruling on the party’s internal matters.
Mr. Chabinga emphasized his respect for the rule of law and said he would not be drawn into making statements that could amount to contempt of court.
‘UPND leaders mocking Lusambo will also be jailed soon’
By Tony Nkhoma
UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) leaders and senior government officials should not celebrate the politically influenced jailing of Bowman Lusambo because they will soon find themselves in the same predicament, Binwell Mpundu has said.
Mpundu, the independent member of Parliament for Nkana in Kitwe and leader of the Movement for Good Government popularly known s Ichabaice, said the UPND leaders were enacting laws targeted at political opponents.
He said failure by the leaders in the UPND administration to understand the implication of the laws they were maliciously enacting and using against its opponents would >>read more>> https://mastmediazm.com/2025/09/you-are-next-binwell/
The Hollow Presidency: Insecurity, Praise-Seeking, and the Case of Hakainde Hichilema
By Thandiwe Ketiš Ngoma
Some people carry within them an emptiness so profound that no amount of success, wealth, or public office can fill it. Psychologists describe this as an internal void, a deep-seated insecurity that fuels compulsive praise-seeking and an exaggerated need for external validation. Individuals with such a void are often desperate to be praised for everything they do and even for things they never achieved. The tragedy of such a personality is that their hunger for approval blinds them to reality and leaves those around them suffocated by their need to always be seen as the best.
Zambia today is witnessing this very dynamic at the highest level of government. President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership increasingly reflects not the confidence of a statesman, but the fragility of a man consumed by the void within.
A President Addicted to Praise
From the day he entered State House, Hichilema has sought to project himself as the singular savior of Zambia. Every reform, every diplomatic engagement, and every policy is framed as his personal triumph. Institutions are sidelined, ministers are reduced to cheerleaders, and citizens are expected to clap endlessly for a leader who appears addicted to applause.
Psychologists note that individuals with an internal void often inflate their own importance to mask feelings of inadequacy. They struggle to tolerate others achieving recognition or praise, seeing it as a direct threat to their self-worth. HH’s leadership style reflects this dynamic: achievements by colleagues or institutions are minimised, while his own image is constantly amplified.
Behind this curated image lies insecurity. A confident leader does not demand constant recognition. A secure president does not fear others rising or sharing the spotlight. Yet in Hichilema’s Zambia, it seems no one else is allowed to be higher, better, or more respected than him. It would appear that HH has a massive ego that simply needs to be constantly stroked even if he himself has to do it. Maybe he has low-self esteem and needs constant attention and adoration. Maybe he is insecure and all the self-praise helps to assuage that insecurity. Whatever it is, it is dangerous.
The Dangers of Emptiness in Power
A leader consumed by an internal void risks turning governance into ego management rather than public service. Policies are judged not by their real impact but by how much they inflate the president’s image. Criticism, no matter how constructive, is treated as an attack or hatred, praise is hoarded, and dissent is sidelined or silenced.
Psychology teaches that such void-driven behavior often results in hyper-vigilance toward perceived threats, over-sensitivity to criticism, and a compulsion to control narratives. In HH’s case, these traits manifest in centralising power, micromanaging messaging, and sidelining alternative voices, even when those voices could strengthen governance.
This dynamic explains the growing frustration among ordinary Zambians, who see little improvement in daily life even as HH insists on being congratulated for “successes” that remain largely invisible to the public.
Psychological Profile of a Void-Driven Leader
Internal Void: Deep-seated feelings of inadequacy that fuel insecurity.
Praise-Seeking: Compulsive need for constant recognition and affirmation, even for achievements not personally earned.
Fear of Being Outshined: Resentment toward anyone who might surpass or challenge them.
Control and Micromanagement: Attempts to manage narratives and suppress dissent to maintain superiority.
Fragile Self-Worth: Ego easily threatened, leading to defensiveness or overcompensation.
A Hollow Legacy
History is unforgiving to leaders who mistake personal glorification for national progress. The more HH clings to praise, the more hollow his presidency risks becoming. The void within him cannot be filled by headlines, photo opportunities, or repeated reminders of his supposed achievements. It can only be filled by real, tangible change that improves the lives of the people who elected him.
Until then, Zambia is led by a president more concerned with being praised than with delivering results, a hollow presidency driven not by vision but by the fragile ego of one man who cannot bear for anyone else to shine brighter than him.
No Zambian must be left to die because donors have cut support – Hichilema
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated that no Zambian should be left vulnerable just because foreign donors have tightened their pockets.
He called for stronger collaboration between government and the Church in the delivery of health services.
Speaking when he met church mother bodies and the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ) yesterday, President Hichilema said shrinking global aid must not be allowed to translate into shrinking health services for ordinary people.
“Given the geopolitical changes, the reduction in philanthropic support… none of our citizens must be left vulnerable because of this decision,” President Hichilema said.
The Head of State revealed that drug availability in public health facilities had jumped from 40 percent in 2021 to 85 percent today, following reforms at the troubled Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA).
The President said government had ordered a forensic audit at ZAMMSA to root out what he described as a cancer in the health sector and called on the church to share any information it may have on the rot.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema also called on the Church to join government in its new agenda of producing medicines and vaccines locally so that Zambia achieves health independence amid reduced aid from abroad.
And Churches Representative Forum Chairperson Bishop Evans Chinyemba hailed the government for ensuring that mission hospitals receive timely grants, drugs and staff, saying the partnership must never be allowed to collapse.
“For over 55 years, the Church has worked hand-in-hand with government in delivering health services, particularly in rural communities. This unique partnership must be protected for the benefit of our people, especially the vulnerable,” Bishop Chinyemba said.
CHAZ currently runs 162 health facilities and 11 training institutions, serving an estimated 8.6 million Zambians every year.
The Zambian government has announced its intention to pass
a new law in Parliament, which will establish an agency to spearhead the development of farming block across the country.
The “Farm Block Development Agency (FBAB)” Bill has been approved by Cabinet in principle and will target about ten (10) farming blocks in Zambia to facilitate enhanced access to agricultural mechanization.
“It is envisaged that establishing the Farm Block Development Agency for the irrigation programme, will ensure o efficient coordination of all the farm blocks, mechanization and irrigation projects in the country,” the statement by Cabinet reads.
The idea is to have a sustained project of irrigation of maize crops and therefore contribute to the targeted three (3) million metric tonnes of irrigated maize for food security and reducing dependency on rai-fed agriculture.
Government said the FBDA will target 696 centres across the country by the year 2031 and the agency will also coordinate the implementation of irrigation programmes on over 500,000 hectares of land into crop production centres.
This Bill is welcomed and should be supported by progressive voices. If I was in Parliament as MP, I would support this Bill but with additional pointers as follows;
1. While the establishment of the FBDA is welcome, there is need to also under that the slow progress in development of farm blocks has been the lack of basic infrastructure. This agency should go beyond irrigation but also spearhead infrastructure development such as roads, sanitation and electricity supply to these areas. Most people who have been allocated land on these farming blocks cannot access them due to lack of roads.
2. The FBDA should also be tasked to source for support and finance to build facilities such as schools, hospitals and other social amenities near the farming blocks to support the settlers.
3. The FBDA must work with the financial institutions in Zambia and abroad to source for cheaper money to lend to farmers that will be settled in most of the farming blocks. The cost of borrowing for small scale farmers in Zambia is very expensive.
With the above points in mind, I support this initiative. It is long overdue and if well implemented, it can help stir farming activities in the various farming blocks. So, the irrigation aspect should not be the focus of the FBDA but rather be on the entire infrastructure development of the farms.
The convictions of Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Malanji, and Former Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba, have to be applauded. The investigation and building of a prosecutable case could not have been easy.
OK, these men had steel ones. Bold!
The release of money without a budget line, flying the presidential jet on a criminal mission, moving loads of money in cash, liberally spending the cash on expensive toys and properties, within days of getting it.
I have a question. Were these crimes possible without President Lungu’s knowledge and approval?
Lusaka… Wednesday September 3, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)
The National Freedom Front (NFF) has accused the Zambia Police of attempting to block its planned peaceful protest against the reopening of the Israeli Embassy in Zambia.
According to NFF Secretary General, Harry Simuntala, the party had notified the police weeks in advance about its intentions to stage a peaceful demonstration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning.
“However, as we were preparing to protest, we received intelligence reports that the police were getting ready to arrest anyone found protesting at the Ministry,” Mr. Simuntala said.
He added that the party views the conduct of the police as unprofessional and will be taking the matter further.
“We are reporting the Police Command to the Police Complaints Commission and we are also writing to the Director of the Public Protector over the unprofessional conduct of the men and women in uniform,” he told Smart Eagles.
Mr. Simuntala further revealed that the NFF will not end its action there but will also be petitioning relevant government ministries.
“We intend to write to both the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, petitioning them on why they allowed the reopening of the Israeli Embassy in this country,’ he stated.
GUEST ARTICLE: Widows Family Can’t Inherit House – Court
By Dickson Jere
A Livingstone man divorced his wife whom he had a daughter with. He then married another woman and lived with her until his death. After his passing, his new wife (widow) took over the matrimonial house and lived in it as a surviving spouse who had a life interest in the property. However, as fate had it, she also passed on. Both did not leave the Will.
The daughter of the deceased man appeared and claimed ownership of the house on the grounds that she had an interest in the house absolutely upon the death of her stepmother. But the brother of the late stepmother moved in the house and refused to surrender it to the daughter. He claimed the house belonged to the late sister and it formed part of the estate of the late sister.
This prompted the daughter to seek judicial intervention in the High Court at Livingstone.
She argued that the stepmother had a life interest as a widow in the property as per law but that interest was determined on death or remarriage. Simply, she argued that the house reverts to the children who had an interest absolutely upon the death of the widow.
The High Court heard the two parties and ruled that the brother of the widow – in whatever capacity – cannot takeover the house after the death of the widow. The house legally reverts to the children – in this case daughter – who had an absolute interest.
The Court explained that while the widow remains in the house upon the death of the husband, she however, does not get absolute ownership to the exclusion of the children. In short, the interest of the children still remains even when the widow is living in that house.
It was further contended that the house does not inform part of the estate of the widow at her death as her property and estate is separate from the late husband estate. The two estates are distinct and must be treated separately as such.
The Judge ordered that the house be returned to the daughter of the deceased after the death of the widow who was the stepmother of the applicant.
Case citation – Ngosa v Sapangwa – 2005/HL/25.
Lecture Notes:
1. As can be seen, section 9 of the Intestate Succession Act provides for the widow to have a life Interest in the property until he dies or remarried. When any of the two happens, the children takes over the house as the same section 9 also gives them an absolute interest in the property. Therefore, the house cannot move to the family or the widow as it is not part of her estate.
2. This case underscores the legal position that the ‘matrimonial’ house or indeed one house is not distributable if there is a surviving widow and children after the death of the owner. If there are no children, then the house will form part of the estate and be distributed as per formula in the law.
DETAILS OF MALANJI JUDGEMENT: Joseph Malanji Convicted on Counts 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
…..Acquitted on Count 5 in Helicopter Corruption Case
Lusaka | Sept 3, 2025
Former Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji has been convicted on Counts 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10 in the high-profile corruption trial relating to the illegal acquisition of luxury properties and aircraft using suspected proceeds of crime.
Magistrate Irene Wishimanga, delivering judgment at the Lusaka Magistrate Court, found Malanji guilty of multiple offences including:
Possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime Money laundering involving high-value real estate and aircraft Use of third-party companies to conceal ownership of assets Convicted on Helicopter, Property and Money Laundering Counts. Counts 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 specifically relate to:
The purchase of two helicopters, a Bell 430 and Bell 206 Jet Ranger, which were registered under Gibson Air Charters, a company linked to Malanji.
Acquisition of multiple houses in Lusaka’s upmarket Silverest Gardens and other locations, financed through cash transactions and dollar payments inconsistent with Malanji’s known income as a public officer.
Use of misleading documents to justify the sources of funds, including fictitious mining and construction deals in the DRC and China.
The court ruled that Malanji failed to provide a lawful explanation for the source of the funds used in the acquisitions and found that the transactions were structured to disguise the origin and ownership of illicit funds.
His conduct, the court said, demonstrated a deliberate and calculated effort to siphon public resources under the guise of diplomatic duty and personal enterprise.
DETAILS YAMBA’S JUDGEMENT: Fredson Yamba Convicted on Counts 1 and 2 in Corruption Trial
Lusaka | Sept 3, 2025
Fredson Yamba, former Secretary to the Treasury, has been convicted on Counts 1 and 2 in the high-profile corruption trial alongside former Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji.
Magistrate Irene Wishimanga, in delivering her judgment at the Lusaka Magistrate Court, found that Yamba unlawfully authorised the release of public funds for the procurement of embassy property in Turkey without following laid-down procedure and in violation of the law.
Count 1 & 2: Abuse of Office and Unlawful Authorisation of Funds According to the judgment now being read:
Count 1: Yamba abused the authority of his office by approving the disbursement of approximately USD 4.6 million for the purchase of property for the Zambian Mission in Turkey, outside the approved budgetary framework and without parliamentary approval.
Count 2: He acted in breach of financial regulations by circumventing procurement protocols, failing to obtain Cabinet authority, and neglecting to engage the Ministry of Works and Supply (now Infrastructure), the mandated agency for government real estate acquisitions.
The court has ruled that Yamba’s actions enabled the diversion of state funds, and directly facilitated the laundering that followed in subsequent counts tied to Malanji.
What This Means:
While sentencing is still pending and other counts are under review, this conviction on Counts 1 and 2 mark a serious blow to Yamba’s legacy as one of Zambia’s most powerful technocrats.
TEMBO WELCOMES BOWMAN LUSAMBO’S SENTENCING BUT FLAGS SELECTIVE JUSTICE CONCERNS IN ZAMBIA
By: Prudence Mutelo
The Community Action Against Corruption (CAAC) has welcomed the sentencing of former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo to three years imprisonment with hard labour, but has raised concerns over what it describes as selective justice in Zambia’s anti-corruption efforts.
Speaking on the matter, CAAC Executive Director Brighton Tembo said the sentence, while commendable, highlights troubling inconsistencies in the justice system.
He pointed to the recent convictions of individuals linked to the current administration for illegal sugilite mining in Luapula Province, who received significantly lighter penalties—just five months in prison and fines of approximately K2,000.
CAAC argued that Mr. Lusambo’s case is not isolated, suggesting that several serving government officials could face similar convictions if subjected to thorough investigations.
Mr. Tembo further questioned the agencies’ failure to act while Mr. Lusambo allegedly amassed wealth now deemed proceeds of crime, saying their inaction enabled unchecked accumulation of illicit assets. #SunFmTvNews
UNZA STUDENTS FLOOD STATE HOUSE TO MEET “DADDY” A DAY OF SONGS, SUNSHINE, AND SOLIDARITY
By Grant Choonya
Lusaka – September 2, 2025
Thousands of students from the University of Zambia (UNZA) yesterday turned the capital city into a vibrant procession as they marched to State House to meet none other than “Daddy” Republican President Hakainde Hichilema.
From Great East Road, down through Addis Ababa Drive, the streets echoed with spirited chants, claps, and solidarity songs, a melody of praise to their beloved leader. It was less of a political event and more of a national festival, drawing comparisons to the wave of 2012 AFCON celebrations or the 2021 election victory rally. Only this time, the celebration was sparked by the sheer anticipation of meeting “Their Friend, “Bally”, “the Man of the Hour.”
What made the day even more memorable was the peaceful nature of the march. The entire procession was violence-free, and students were quick to express their gratitude to their “cousins” the Zambia Police for their professional conduct and warm approach throughout the event. Officers were seen not only maintaining order but also sharing smiles and short chats with students, fostering a spirit of mutual respect and unity.
Sweating in the scorching Tuesday afternoon heat, the students pressed forward with unshaken determination. Dehydrated but undeterred, exhausted but energized by the moment, the intellectuals finally arrived at the gates of State House their long-awaited rendezvous with the Head of State.
In true Bally fashion, President Hichilema welcomed the students with a broad smile and an even broader message of hope. Taking to the podium, he reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering the youth through quality education.
“Education is the best equalizer. It is the engine of economic growth and the greatest investment a nation can make,” President Hichilema told the eager crowd. “We will continue to improve student welfare better accommodation, increased meal allowances, and expanded access to student loans. This is not a promise. It’s a plan already in motion.”
The announcement was met with thunderous applause, as the students broke into spontaneous chants of “Daddy Chololo, Daddy Chololo, Bally for 2026!”
UNZA student leadership, speaking on behalf of their colleagues, praised BALLY for his visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and hands-on approach to youth issues. In a bold political endorsement, the students officially declared their unwavering support for President Hichilema’s 2026 bid, vowing to retain him in office as a partner in their future.
But it wasn’t all speeches and selfies. As the event wrapped up, an unexpected wave of empowerment rolled in this time for Lusaka’s bus drivers, as hundreds of bus operators were mobilized to provide free transport for the students back to campus, proving once again that when Bally hosts, no one is left behind.
As the sun set over State House, the last chants faded into the distance, and students returned to their lecture halls with a renewed sense of purpose, of course with plenty of selfies to brag about.
Hibeene Mwiinga, Wife and Sons Acquitted of all Charges of Possesing K41million
Magistrate Court acquits Hibene Mwiinga The State has failed to prove that former President Edgar Lungu’s Economic advisor, Hibeene Mwiinga possessed proceeds of crime in the 21 counts he was facing of properties valued at over K41 million and over US$200,000 cash.
Magistrate Amy Masoja-Chilangwa of the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court acquitted Hibeene Mwiinga and his family of all corruption-related charges. He had been facing 72 counts of corruption with his son Hakaantu and wife, Mercy Munsanje.
Mwiinga, the former economic advisor to Zambian President Edgar Lungu, was acquitted of all corruption charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court on March 28, 2025. He was jointly charged with his wife and son, who were also set free.
ZESCO GIVES MISISI/KAMWALA CHARCOAL TRADERS 14 DAYS TO VACATE WAYLEAVE OR FACE DEMOLITION
A 14 day ZESCO ultimatum issued to all traders operating under the ZESCO power-line to vacate or face demolition, has left over 1000 traders earning a living from an area populary known as pa malasha, staring down the burrel of an uncertain future.
This came to light when representatives of the traders led by a Mr. Moonga from Nkoloma Ward, visited neighboring Kamwala Ward Councillor Hon. Mainda Simataa who’s equally fighting other demolition notices served on his people by Zambia Railways, to ask for space to relocate the affected traders.
Councillor Simataa said that while ZESCO’s actions are justified on the basis of safe-guarding human life and infrastructure, the civic leader maintained that the 14 day ultimatum was rushed and unrealistic, adding that its impact would cause an economic disaster as livelihoods would be destroyed for traders who’ve operated from pa malasha for over 20 years.
The civic leader has called for a 90 days amnesty to allow a tripartite meeting between LCC, ZESCO and Zambia Railways to find alternative spaces to relocate the affected victims who are willing to comply, once alternatives are found and formalized.
CYBER LAWS ARE JUST OKAY, ATTORNEY GENERAL TELLS COURT
THE State has urged the High Court to dismiss a case Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) is challenging the legality of the Cyber Crimes Act, which others complain infringes of freedom of expression.
In the lawsuit, LAZ contends that the cyber laws unjustifiably infringe upon constitutionally protected rights, including privacy, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, freedom of conscience, and freedom of association.
LAZ seeks to have several provisions of the Cyber Security Act number 3 and the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025 declared unconstitutional and struck off the statute books.
But in response, Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha has dismissed allegations that the piece of the law infringes of people’s rights, urging the court to throw out the lawsuit.
Mr Kabesha will submit at trial that rights to privacy, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, freedom of conscience and freedom of association are not absolute.
“Articles 17, 20, and 21 of the Constitution, upon which the said rights are predicated have exceptions Sections 5,6,10,21,22 (2) ,24 (1)(b) ,24(2) ,27,30,31, and 32 of the Cybercrimes Act and sections 2,18,23(3),23(4) ,29,30 ,and 32 of the Cyber Security Act, are reasonably justifiable in a democratic society”.
Mr Kabesha, as respondent, said the cited legal provisions are within parameters set by the Constitution itself, in so far as exceptions are concerned.
“…provisions of the cyber laws do not offend the provisions of articles 17, 19 and 20(1), 20(2) and 21(1) of the Constitution and are reasonably justifiable in a democratic society and are therefore constitutional and within the provisos to the said articles,” Mr Kabesha said.
He said Article 11 of the Constitution provides for limitations designed to ensure that the enjoyment of the rights and freedoms by any individual does not prejudice the rights and freedoms of others or public interest.
Mr Kabesha added that LAZ has no loci standi in the matter.
“The petitioner has no locus standi as the alleged violations are not in relation to the petitioner’ as envisaged in article 28 of the Constitution of Zambia.
“…the respondent denies that the petitioner is entitled to any of the reliefs sought…the petitioner’s petition should be dismissed with costs,” he submits.
A 28-year-old man in Katete District of Eastern Province has allegedly taken his own lífe by cònsuming an unknown substance under unclear circumstances.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident , stating that it occurred on September 2, 2025, in Ibex Compound.
John Daka now the deceased was a former driver for ex-Katete District Commissioner Raphael Phiri.
Before taking his own lífe, John left a heartfelt note for his wife, expressing his love and apologizing for his decision. He also mentioned that someone in Lusaka is carrying his child and requested that his wife take care of the child.
Brief facts of the matter are that the deceased, who was the driver for the former District Commissioner, Mr. Raphael Phiri, was attached to the District Health Office.
Mr. Daka reported for duty on the morning of September 2, 2025. He was supposed to go somewhere with the District Health Director, but the DHD was busy, so Mr. Daka got permission to be called when the District Health Director was ready and went home.
When his landlord, Henry Phiri, aged 49, arrived home around 15:00 hours, he saw the Land Cruiser parked and tried to call Mr. Daka, but there was no response.
Mr. Daka’s wife, Martha Banda, aged 27, was away in Chipata.
Later, the landlord heard Mr. Daka crying in the house, which prompted him to damage the padlock and enter the house, where he noticed a strange smell.
He rushed Mr. Daka to St. Francis Mission Hospital, where he died after 16:00 hours while being attended to by medical personnel.
The police visited the scene, and small quantities of vomit were found in the sitting room, along with a su!c!de note on the bedroom table addressed to his wife.
The body was deposited into the St. Francis Mission Hospital Mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination results and burial, as the police suspected no foul play.

PROBE BENEFICIARIES OF CASH FOR WORK AND FERTILIZER PROGRAMS IN CHAMA NORTH CONSTITUENCY;
Chama 3rd September,2025
Following my continued community engagements with the people in the constituency in various wards I have discovered wide spread complaints from people in regard to unfair implementation of cash for work programs and alleged fraudulent activities taking place.
The whole exercise lacks transparency and accountability as some politically connected individuals have a tendency of reaping where they did not sow and needless to say that their actions are undermining a well intended government initiative meant to increase income at household level in order to eradicate poverty especially among the rural communities where it is more pronounced.
Further, some named politically connected individuals are abusing the facility by including bogus individuals on the list of beneficiaries even when such individuals have not done any work in exchange for political favours which is totally against the guidelines while some of the officials are alleged to be recieving kick backs after including beneficiaries on the list which amounts to theft of public funds and unfortunately this vice has been going on unabated for some time.
Therefore this kind of uncalled for behavior has the potential to tarnish the image of the government and as such if immediate action is not taken to bring all culprits to book the ruling party is at great risk of losing considerable support from the people in the district because they believe that such unscrupulous individual’s actions have the blessings of the powers that be because no action is being taken.
Furthermore the government should also probe the distribution of farming inputs under the social security pack during the 2024/2025 farming season because some deserving beneficiaries did not receive their farming inputs but instead unscrupulous individuals are alleged to have helped themselves with farming inputs meant for the vulnerable in society and as such making the ruling party unpopular on the ground however I have informed the minister of community development Hon Doreen Mwamba over the same.
It is in light of the foregoing that I want to take this opportunity as Area member of parliament to earnestly appeal to the government to immediately dispatch auditors or independent investigators to chama north constituency in order to probe these serious allegations so that all culprits regardless of their status in society are immediately brought to book to deter would be offenders.

Brown Mogotsi made multiple secret attempts to contact controversial tenderpreneur “Cat” Matlala on day of Mkhwanazi bombshell briefing
Court revelations on Tuesday exposed multiple secret calls from North West businessman Brown Mogotsi to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala on 6 July 2025, coinciding with KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s explosive briefing on alleged corruption within the police and justice system.
Matlala, detained at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility on charges including attempted murder and money laundering, was found with a cellphone containing Mogotsi’s persistent contact attempts and a paused video of Mkhwanazi’s press conference. Prosecutors raised questions about how Matlala accessed the device while incarcerated.
The briefing implicated both Mogotsi an alleged associate of suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Matlala in shielding criminal syndicates and interfering with the Political Killings Task Team.
Court documents reveal Matlala tried to dispose of the phone during a raid, but it was recovered, deepening scrutiny of his connections.
The case has been postponed to 8 September as the state reviews Matlala’s revised bail affidavit, with investigators probing the full extent of Mogotsi and Matlala’s influence on South Africa’s justice system.
Lesufi launches Task Team to tackle political killings in Gauteng
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced on Wednesday that the province will establish a dedicated Political Killings Task Team to investigate politically motivated murders, marking a decisive step in addressing longstanding violence.
The specialized unit, expected to be operational within the next four weeks, will review cases dating back to 2010, including the deaths of councillors, government officials, artists and staff from local agencies or state institutions.
During a media briefing, Lesufi highlighted the team’s broad mandate, which will also cover related issues such as taxi-related violence and the killings of taxi industry leaders. “Within this political task team, matters connected to taxi violence and the assassination of taxi industry leaders in our province will not be excluded,” he said.
He added, “This initiative represents a significant step forward in combating political violence. The Government of Provincial Unity supports all efforts to ensure peace and promote political tolerance in Gauteng.”
The announcement follows revelations of 121 police dockets nationwide linked to political murders, many associated with tenders and corruption, with approximately 50 involving councillors and office bearers.
This initiative also follows serious allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed that national police leadership interfered with investigations into political killings to protect powerful individuals.
In Gauteng, Mkhwanazi suggested the problem is deeply entrenched, implicating politicians, business figures, and other influential individuals, prompting the province to follow KwaZulu-Natal’s example in forming such a task team.
Lesufi urged anyone with information regarding political or administrative killings to come forward as the task team finalizes its resource planning and terms of reference in coordination with the acting police minister.
Gupta properties raided in India amid ongoing state capture probe
Indian authorities have intensified their pursuit of the controversial Gupta brothers, with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducting high-profile raids on properties linked to Ajay, Atul, and Rajesh Gupta across New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and their ancestral home in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The operation, carried out on 26 August under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), follows a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR) from South African authorities investigating the Guptas’ alleged role in the infamous “state capture” scandal during former president Jacob Zuma’s tenure.
The raids targeted businesses tied to the Gupta brothers, including entities linked to Indian businessman Piyoosh Goyal’s World Window Group and associate Ram Ratan Jagati, who is accused of laundering funds through a Dubai-based shell company, JJ Trading FZE.
The Gupta family’s sprawling Saharanpur residence and a lavish Hindu temple under construction were also searched, with the ED seizing documents and questioning individuals connected to the brothers’ financial network.
The Gupta brothers, once a powerful force in South Africa through their business empire spanning mining, media, and technology, have long been accused of leveraging their close ties with Zuma to secure lucrative state contracts and influence government appointments.
Their Saxonwold compound in Johannesburg, a hub for high-profile political meetings, was recently sold at auction for R34.5 million, a fraction of its R64 million valuation, reflecting the family’s fall from grace.
South Africans are watching closely as India’s actions signal a tightening global net around the Guptas, who fled to the UAE in 2018.
Although a 2022 extradition attempt failed, South Africa has since rectified its treaty with the UAE, renewing hopes that the brothers may yet face justice for their alleged role in siphoning billions of rands from the country.
Correctional Services denies viral claims of Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s pregnancy
The Department of Correctional Services in South Africa has dismissed social media claims that Dr Nandipha Magudumana, currently detained at Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre, is pregnant.
Posts on platforms like Facebook, some falsely attributed to spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo, alleged Magudumana was four months pregnant and that a senior male officer was placed on leave.
Nxumalo labeled these claims as “fake news,” clarifying no such confirmation was made to any media outlet.
The rumors stem from unverified social media posts.
Magudumana, held for allegedly aiding Thabo Bester’s 2022 prison escape, is not pregnant, according to official statements.
