VIDEO: Luis Suarez caught on camera spitting on rival coach after Inter Miami cup final loss

Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez caught on camera spitting on rival coach after Inter Miami cup final loss

Former Liverpool star, Luis Suarez, appeared to spit at a staff member of the opposing team during an ugly brawl following his team Inter Miami’s 3-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final on Sunday night.

Footage showed Suarez confronting a Sounders staff member near the middle of the pitch as tensions flared between both sides after the final whistle.

The 38-year-old got in the coach’s face before appearing to spit at him as Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari tried to intervene.

Earlier, players from both teams were seen grabbing each other by the neck and swinging punches as tempers erupted after the full-time whistle.

Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano said afterwards he was too far away to comment on any specific incidents.

“Nobody likes these kinds of actions at the end of a match, but if there’s a reaction, maybe there was provocation,” he said.

“Unfortunately, that is going to take some of the attention away from a great performance by the Seattle Sounders,” Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer said of the brawl.

“I guess we can take that as a compliment that Miami’s frustrations led to some things happening on the field that shouldn’t happen on the field.

“I’m going to shut that down because that shouldn’t be the story,” said Schmetzer, who added he had a “quiet moment” with Messi on the field after the game.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker has a past been invloved with controversy on the pitch.

He was banned for eight matches and fined by the English FA in 2011 for making racist remarks toward Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.

Suarez later refused to shake Evra’s hand in a highly charged Premier League meeting.

During the 2014 World Cup, he was suspended for four months after biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini – the third biting incident of his career.

He had previously bitten Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic while playing for Liverpool and Otman Bakkal during his time at Ajax.

His latest outburst is expected to bring a lengthy punishment from Major League Soccer.

Erik ten Hag sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just three matches

0

Erik ten Hag has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just three matches in charge.

He was appointed as Xabi Alonso’s successor in May after the Bundesliga-winning coach left for Real Madrid.

The former Manchester United manager was dismissed on Monday morning following Leverkusen’s 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Leverkusen surrendered two late goals, including a 94th-minute equaliser, despite Niklas Stark’s second-half red card for Bremen.

The former champions also lost their first game 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim despite taking an early lead through Jarell Quansah’s goal.

A statement from Leverkusen read: “Bayer 04 Leverkusen have parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag. This was decided by the shareholders’ committee, the club’s supervisory body, on the recommendation of the management of Bayer 04. Training will be overseen by the current backroom staff on an interim basis.”

While the club’s managing director of sport, Simon Rolfes, said: “This decision was not an easy one for us. Nobody wanted to take this step. However, the past few weeks have shown that building a new and successful team with this setup is not feasible.

“We firmly believe in the quality of our team and will now do everything we can to take the next steps in our development with a new setup.”

Manchester City reaches deal to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma

0

Manchester City are set to conduct a medical for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on Monday, September 1, as the club moves to finalise a deal for the Italy international on transfer deadline day.

The move follows the planned departure of City’s first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, who is set to join Fenerbahce, leaving Donnarumma as the ideal replacement. Reports suggest the transfer is worth €30 million plus add-ons, with the 26-year-old set to sign a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson featured on the bench during City’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Sunday, August 31, while young academy graduate James Trafford impressed in the Premier League match. Donnarumma, who recently helped PSG secure their first UEFA Champions League title, became available after contract renewal talks with the French club broke down, leading to a public split with PSG and manager Luis Enrique.

A medical in Italy on Monday is expected to precede Donnarumma’s travel to Manchester, where he will join Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad after the September international break. Meanwhile, Stefan Ortega Moreno is also expected to leave City, completing a significant overhaul of the club’s goalkeeping department.

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp

0

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21m (£18.1m) plus add-ons.

The move ends United’s pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, as the club looks to resolve its goalkeeping concerns.

Lammens, 23, will travel to Manchester to finalize a five-year contract with the Premier League side.

United have struggled in goal this season, with Altay Bayindir committing key errors in league games and last season’s first-choice Andre Onana underperforming, notably in the EFL Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby.

Club sources describe Lammens as a talented young goalkeeper with significant long-term potential.

Lammens joined Antwerp from Club Brugge in 2023, making 64 appearances and helping the club win the Belgian Super Cup. Though yet to feature for Belgium’s senior team, he earned his first call-up in March 2025 and is viewed as a future successor to Thibaut Courtois.

He kept seven clean sheets in 30 Belgian Pro League matches last season and was recently left out of Antwerp’s squad amid ongoing transfer negotiations.

Lammens’ arrival adds to a flurry of deadline-day activity for Manchester United. Antony is set to join Real Betis, Jadon Sancho is expected to move to Aston Villa on loan, and Rasmus Hojlund is close to sealing a transfer to Napoli.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who had sought a loan move due to limited playing time, is now expected to remain at the club.

Man who married thrice sets his current live-in partner on fire at traffic stop

A 35-year-old woman has di£d after her live-in partner chased after her car at a traffic stop and set her on fire in Bengaluru, India.

The victim, identified as Vanajakshi, di£d of her burn injuries in hospital.

The police said the accused, Vithal, a cab driver and habitual alcoholic, had been married three times previously.

Vanajakshi, too, had been married twice before entering a live-in relationship with Vithal nearly four years ago.

According to investigators, Vanajakshi had recently moved away from Vithal after being harassed repeatedly over his drinking habits. She had also developed a friendship with another man, Mariappa, a member of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike.

On the day of the crime, Vithal followed Vanajakshi’s car while she was returning from a temple with Mariappa and the driver.

At a traffic signal, he intercepted the vehicle and poured petrol inside. Petrol splashed on Vanajakshi, Mariappa, and the driver.

While the others managed to escape, Vithal chased down Vanajakshi, doused her with more petrol, and set her ablaze using a lighter.

A man passing by rushed to her rescue. He used a piece of cloth to put out the flames and, along with others, rushed her to a private hospital. In the process, he also sustained minor burn injuries.

Vanajakshi sustained nearly 60 per cent burn injuries and di£d in the hospital.

Vithal, who also suffered burn injuries, was arrested within 24 hours by the police.

“This entire issue stemmed from a marital mess. It is unfortunate what happened. We arrested the accused within 24 hours. We also deeply appreciate the efforts of the person who came to her rescue. Despite all attempts to save her, the woman succumbed. Stringent sections have been invoked to ensure the accused pays the price for this heinous crime,” Narayana M, the deputy commissioner of police, Electronic City Division, said.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée Georgina Rodríguez shows off 30-Carat ring

0

Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez, showcased her dazzling 30-carat engagement ring during her first public appearance since the announcement, stepping out in Italy for the Venice Film Festival 2025.

The model arrived via water taxi, striking a chic pose for photographers in a black short-sleeved turtleneck and lace midi skirt by Oscar de la Renta. She paired the look with Celine sunglasses and Pasquale Bruni jewelry, including a diamond-encrusted rosette brooch styled as a choker, several sparkling rings, and pavé diamond earrings. Her long, black hair was styled in a loose braid.

Rodríguez, 31, also flaunted an elegant polka-dotted blouse-and-trouser set during her stay, complemented by a crocodile Hermès Birkin bag and Prada sunglasses. She shared a video of her arrival on Instagram, waving and blowing kisses to fans before boarding a water taxi.

The engagement was announced earlier this month after eight years of dating. Rodríguez captioned the reveal on Instagram with, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” alongside a close-up of the massive ring.

The couple began their relationship in late 2016 after meeting at a Gucci store where Rodríguez once worked. They share two daughters—Alana, 7, and Bella, 3. They also experienced the heartbreaking loss of Bella’s twin brother, Angel, during childbirth.

Retired vicar who was part of a castration ring has been jailed after using nail scissors on a man’s g3n!t@ls

A retired vicar who was part of a castration ring has been jailed after using nail scissors on a man’s genitals.

Reverend Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent after the video of the shocking procedure in January 2020 was found on his phone, according to Mail Online.’

He also admitted seven other charges, including making and distributing images of children and possessing extreme porn0graphy, and has been handed a three-year jail sentence.

Baulcomb had 31 indecent images of a boy as a child as well as other s£xual images of children, both male and female.

The vicar had 182 extreme porn0graphic images showing serious injury to a person’s private parts, five images portraying an act threatening a person’s life, and eight images portraying a person performing a s£x act on an animal.

Some of the material included moving images which appeared on the Eunuch Maker website, operated by Marius Gustavson, 47.

Norwegian national Gustavson received a life sentence, with a minimum of 22 years, last year after a court heard he earned almost £300,000 from the site where thousands of visitors paid to view sick clips of procedures, including castrations.

He had his own penis cut off, a nipple removed, and his leg frozen so it had to be amputated.

Baulcomb and Gustavson were said to have been ‘acquaintances’, exchanging more than 10,000 messages over a four-year spell.

At the Old Bailey on Monday, Judge Mark Lucraft, KC, the Recorder of London, said: ‘With any extreme body modification procedure there has to be some positive planning and pre-organisation.

‘The procedure involved the use of scissors which in the circumstances are highly dangerous.

‘You undertook the procedure in conditions far from sterile and did so without any medical skills or training.

‘The procedure and the resulting injury is one that is serious, it is a permanent, long lasting procedure that will have serious effects on the victim.

‘It is an aggravating feature that the procedure is filmed. Bearing in mind the obvious sexual nature of this offence it is something that adds seriousness.

‘Those who have written about you speak warmly and highly about you and your many qualities.

‘It is clear many have been assisted by you over the years and I suspect many who knew you will have been deeply shocked by what they have heard in this hearing.’

Judge Lucraft said he had reduced the sentence because of the victim’s consent to the procedure, Baulcomb’s health, age and character and his guilty plea.

The former clergyman was expelled from the Church of England last year by a disciplinary panel and was still ordained at the time of his offences.

In June, he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at the Old Bailey, after he was captured enlarging the opening of a man’s urethra in a nine-second video of the incident.

The footage, which was found on the vicar’s mobile phone, is said to have been filmed on January 4, 2020. He was later arrested in December 2022.

Baulcomb previously admitted to three counts of making indecent images of a child, namely one Category A image, four Category B images and 37 Category C indecent images.

Three further charges against Baulcomb related to possession of extreme pornography, one of which related to eight images of a person performing an act of intercourse with a live or dead unknown animal.

Another involved ‘182 images which portrayed in an explicit and realistic way an act which resulted or was likely to result in serious injury to a person’s anus, breasts or genitals and which were grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character’.

Police raided Baulcomb’s £25,000 cottage near Eastbourne in December 2022 and found a stash of heroin along with the tranquilliser ketamine.

Baulcomb, from Eastbourne, East Sussex, was ordained as a priest in 1970, according to the Church of England website.

He retired from the historic St Mary the Virgin church in Eastbourne in 2003 but was still ordained at the time of the offences.

The diocese said the Baulcomb’s permission to officiate was immediately removed after being contacted by police.

A statement said: ‘The Diocese wishes to put on record our gratitude for the Metropolitan Police’s pro-active approach to information sharing and partnership working, which has enabled us to manage the risks Mr Baulcomb has presented whilst under investigation.’

After his plea, Baulcomb was granted conditional bail, ordering him not to attend any Church of England premises or functions and to have no contact with children under the age of 18.

Manchester United and Napoli have both confirmed Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Italy

Manchester United and Napoli have both confirmed Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Italy.

United said the deal is a season-long loan, but Napoli made clear the agreement also includes an obligation to buy.

United’s statement read: ‘Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has joined Napoli on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration.

‘Hojlund has made 95 appearances for the Reds since signing from Atalanta in August 2023, scoring 26 goals. He lifted the Emirates FA Cup at the end of the 2023/24 season, after coming on as a substitute in the final against Manchester City.

‘Rasmus has agreed a move to the Serie A champions, under the management of Antonio Conte. Napoli will be the fifth club Hojlund has represented during his career, following earlier spells with Copenhagen and Sturm Graz.

‘We’d like to wish Rasmus good luck for the campaign ahead.’

Napoli’s announcement read: ‘SSC Napoli announces that it has acquired the sporting services of footballer Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United Football Club on loan with an obligation to buy.

‘Born on February 4, 2003, the Danish footballer grew up in the youth teams of Brondby, Holbaek and FC Copenhagen.

‘After a year with Sturm Graz, Rasmus joined Atalanta in August 2022, playing 34 games and scoring 10 goals. The following season, he moved to Manchester United, scoring 26 goals in 95 appearances. He scored eight goals in 26 appearances for the Danish national team. Welcome, Rasmus!’

The move brings an end to Hojlund’s underwhelming two-year stay at Old Trafford following his £64m move from Atalanta in 2023.

Hojlund scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for United, but netted just four times in 32 Premier League games last season.

Ohio man k!lled pregnant girlfriend on her due date days after he already asked his boss for bereavement leave

A cold-hearted Ohio man asked his boss for bereavement leave to mourn his slain pregnant girlfriend — before he hired two pals to kill her on the day she was due to have their baby, authorities said.

Kayvon Warren, 30, allegedly enlisted his friends to help kill 26-year-old India Kinamore in her Colerain Township home on March 4, 2023, the day she was to give birth to the couple’s child — but telegraphed the murder by first asking for time off to mourn her death, Hamilton County prosecutors said.

“This should have been one of the happiest days of India’s life,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said in a statement as she announced a 13-count murder indictment against the trio.

“Instead, the father of the child conspired with two others to kill her. It’s heartbreaking,” Pillich said. “My office will see that justice is done for both India and her baby.”

Warren was allegedly seeing another woman and struggling financially, even losing his home, and had tried to pressure Kinamore into having an abortion.

Instead, the accused killer allegedly hired Robert Ervin, 20, and 22-year-old Lamar Morris Suggs, and broke into Kinamore’s home around 6 a.m. with plans to mask the murder as a burglary gone wrong, prosecutors claim.

All three fled the scene after shooting and killing the young mother-to-be, according to officials.

County detectives and Colerain Police Department officers conducted dozens of interviews and scoured financial and phone records to finally break the case — which led to last week’s indictment.

The three were charged with aggravated murder, burglary and felony assault, with Ervin and Suggs also facing weapons charges.

Online records show that Warren is being held at the county jail without bail following the arraignments, while Ervin is behind bars on $300,000 bail. It was not immediately clear what Suggs’ bail conditions are.

All three face up to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.

HH responds to Lusambo offering his house  if  HH  wins the 2021 Presidential elections

HH responds to Bowman Lusambo offering his house to HH if he wins the 2021 Presidential elections.

Laura Miti writes: Mr Bowman Lusambo has been convicted, again. This time, it’s for possessing property reasonably

believed to be proceeds of crime.

In everyday language, he had property worth K22 million, but could not show how, or where, he got that kind of money. Another way of putting it is that Mr Lusambo’s salary, and known businesses, could not afford what he owned. When asked to show where else he legally acquired the money, he could not say.

This post is not for Mr Lusambo, though. He should be allowed to serve whatever sentence he is given, or appeal.

It’s rather for UPND Ministers, Presidential Advisers, PSes (who should not be listed as UPND but you know what I mean) and other ruling party connected.

I will keep this short.

Mr Lusambo had loads of warning. So many times, people asked how he had managed to go from dondo to velvet cake, without us seeing him pass through chitimbuwa, banzi, bread, scono and sponge cake.

His response was to essentially tell everyone to F off.

Back to the people listed above.

You are smarter than PF, in that you don’t burn money in mbaulas or tell the public about the cost of  your wives’ perfumes.

Point, though, is that we are seeing these distressing figures in the Auditor General’s and FIC reports. That money is not stealing itself. It is not just dumbwilaling from government coffers into nowhere. Someone is taking it.

Let me end by doing something I rarely do – and hate to – repeat gossip. Let me just say that some of your names are being regularly mentioned in such dirty deals. Ati you are using power to make money for yourselves like there’s no tomorrow. Ndimwe muliko.

My question is, if that’s true, what is your plan?

How are you intending to avoid ending up where Mr Lusambo is sitting today? Or is your plan Emmanuel Mwamba, Kaizar Zulu, Jay Jay – if you catch my drift?

I WILL GIVE MY HOUSE TO HH IF HE WINS THIS ELECTION SAYS BOWMAN LUSAMBO

PF Kabushi member of parliament Bowman Lusambo has vowed to give his house to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema if he wins the August 12th Elections.

Speaking today on the Copperbelt, Bowman Lusambo said he can clearly see in his vision that President Lungu is winning the elections adding that if his vision does not come to pass, he will give HH a house with immediate effect upon sworn in as Republican President of Zambia.

BOWMAN LUSAMBO JAILED FOR 3 YEARS FOR POSSESSION OF PROPERTY SUSPECTED TO BE PROCEEDS OF CRIME
By Nelson Zulu

The Lusaka Magistrate Court has sentenced incarcerated former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour for possession of property established to be proceeds of crime, with affect from 25th August 2025.

Delivering judgment this afternoon, Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili ruled that Mr. Lusambo is not a second offender, quashing the state’s application to treat him as such on the basis that an earlier four-year sentence was already in effect.

Magistrate Chibwili ordered that the three-year term on the two counts run concurrently and said those who aspire for public office must live exemplary lives, noting that public earnings can be traced.

The court on August 25 found that evidence from 10 prosecution witnesses showed the properties were acquired suspiciously and were inconsistent with Mr. Lusambo’s combined legitimate earnings while serving as a parliamentarian and provincial minister during his tenure amounting to about K7 million, while the properties in question were valued at approximately K22 million.

In mitigation, Mr. Lusambo’s lawyers begged for leniency from the court and consider the status of his family with one of his children named after former late President Edgar Lungu while one of them has been asking about his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lusambo’s lawyer Charles Changano has confirmed receiving instructions to appeal against the conviction and sentence.

THE CONFUSION OF THE PF STARTED IN 2014 IT HAS BEEN IN OUR BLOOD
-ROBERT CHABINGA

Robert Chabinga, Acting Patriotic Front leader, has refuted allegations linking President Hakainde Hichilema to the party’s internal power struggles.

Mr. Chabinga also expressed dismay over the vicious attacks on the judiciary resulting from the prolonged legal battles surrounding the PF leadership.

He characterized the attacks as unjust, pointing out that even the late President Edgar Lungu emerged from confusion within the party.

Mr. Chabinga, also the opposition leader, cautioned PF surrogates to desist from blackmail, intrigue, and threats against constitutional office holders.

He emphasized that he will not tolerate those advocating for a convention in the name of the PF.

Mr. Chabinga has urged everyone planning to hold a convention before the court’s ruling to refrain from doing so and to show respect for the judicial process.

Mr. Chabinga made these statements during a news conference in Mafinga Constituency, Muchinga Province.

⬆️ BRIEFING | PF Rift Deepens as Chabinga Accuses Rivals of Tonse Alliance Links

Mafinga MP Robert Chabinga, who also serves as leader of the opposition in Parliament, has declared that the faction led by Raphael Nakacinda and Matero lawmaker Miles Sampa does not belong to the Patriotic Front but is aligned with the Tonse Alliance.

Speaking from Mafinga, Chabinga, who styles himself as acting PF president, said Sampa had distanced himself from him and Secretary General Morgan Ngona under unclear circumstances.

Chabinga warned both Sampa and Nakacinda against dragging President Hakainde Hichilema into the party’s internal disputes.

Chabinga also appealed for calm among PF members, urging those vying for the party presidency to wait for the courts to decide on the validity of the August 2023 convention before calling for another gathering.

“We must respect the judicial process,” he said, stressing that any premature moves would undermine unity.

The statement underlines the fractures within Zambia’s largest opposition party, as rival camps trade accusations ahead of an eventual leadership contest.

MAJORITY ZAMBIANS FEEL EXCLUDED BY UPND – SAKI

United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) chairperson Sakwiba Sikota says the question on whether there is tribalism in the country or not can best be answered by looking various government institutions and who is heading them.

Last week, State House Chief Communication specialist Clayson Hamasaka said there was no tribalism in Zambia.

He said this in relation to an article published by Daily Revelation where a group calling itself the national consultative conference (NCC) is aiming to call for a national indaba to discuss the enforcement of zero tolerance against tribalism, provincialism, nepotism, sexism, racism and all chauvinist practices that have tended to divide the people and spread unnecessary discords in the country.

Sikota was asked to give his views on what Hamasaka said, and in response, insisted that one needed to look at who was heading the key state institutions, key ministries and key embassies to get the answer on whether there was  tribalism in the country or not.

“What you have to look at is, you have to look at …even if you look at various places like the Cabinet and that gives you…

UPND GOV’T IS TOO LIBERAL ON CHRISTIANITY – SUMAILI

Former Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs, Godfridah Sumaili, has called on government to demonstrate stronger political will in safeguarding Christian morals and values in the country

Speaking when she featured on Christian Voice’s Chatback program in Lusaka today, under the topic “The Moral Fabric of the Nation,” Rev. Sumaili emphasized the need for closer collaboration between government and the church to ensure that Christian values are clearly promoted and protected.

She expressed concern with what she described as government’s liberal approach to morality issues which are contributing to moral decay in Zambia.

“There is a need for government to be more resolute in upholding Christian values by publicly denouncing vices such as sodomy, rape, sexual perversion, corruption, and other immoral practices,” said Rev. Sumaili.

She further warned that increased liberalism could expose the country to more spiritual attacks, undermining the moral and social fabric of the nation.

PF welcomes President  Hichilema’s apology over Lungu funeral as a step toward reconciliation

The Patriotic Front (PF) has described President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent apology concerning the prolonged funeral arrangements of former president Edgar Lungu as a step in the right direction.

PF faction Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda said the President’s words carry significance especially in light of the sensitivity surrounding the Lungu family during this period of mourning.

He noted that Hichilema’s acknowledgment of the family’s concerns was an important gesture that could help ease tensions that have persisted since the passing of the former head of state.

Nakacinda expressed hope that President Hichilema’s commitment to address the concerns of the Lungu family once the funeral is concluded will be fulfilled in good faith.

He emphasized that the PF is looking beyond words and will judge the President’s sincerity by the actions he takes after the burial.

According to Nakacinda, the apology marks the first time President Hichilema has publicly recognized the impact that the prolonged funeral has had on the family, the country, and the wider region.

He argued that this recognition was not only necessary but also overdue.

On Friday, President Hichilema stated that he was prepared to listen and attend to the issues raised by the Lungu family once an honorable funeral had been accorded to the late former president.

He stressed that he remained conscious of the family’s feelings and did not wish to aggravate the pain they were already enduring.

The President’s words were widely reported and stirred mixed reactions across Zambia, with some welcoming the gesture while others questioned the timing and motivation behind the apology.

For the PF, however, Nakacinda insisted that this was an opportunity for the government to rebuild goodwill and demonstrate respect not only for the Lungu family but also for the office of the former head of state.

He added that a dignified handling of such matters sets a precedent for how the nation treats all former leaders regardless of political differences.

The PF faction further suggested that reconciliation on such sensitive issues could foster national unity at a time when Zambia is deeply polarized politically.

They urged the government to seize the moment to heal divisions rather than deepen them.

Civil society groups and commentators have also weighed in, with some urging both the government and the PF to focus on unity and respect during this difficult national moment.

Analysts note that the politics surrounding Lungu’s legacy have already divided opinion, and mishandling the funeral process risks escalating tensions further.

President Hichilema’s apology, therefore, could serve as an opening for dialogue and mutual understanding if both sides act with restraint.

NEW DAWN’S ACHIEVEMENTS IMPRESS UNZA LECTURER

NEW DAWN’S ACHIEVEMENTS IMPRESS UNZA LECTURER

Lusaka, Zambia – The four years of the New Dawn administration, marked by peace and the restoration of the rule of law, have impressed governance expert Professor Gistered Muleya of the University of Zambia (UNZA).

Reflecting on the administration’s achievements, Prof. Muleya praised the equal judicial treatment of individuals regardless of political affiliation, describing it as a significant milestone in Zambia’s governance.

He expressed concern over the opposition’s persistent criticism of government, noting that some political actors seem more interested in seeing the administration fail rather than constructively engaging in national development.

“Unlike in the past, where dissenting voices were often suppressed, the UPND-led government under President Hakainde Hichilema has created a conducive environment for political discourse,” Prof. Muleya said.

However, he lamented that some opposition figures and citizens have occasionally crossed boundaries in their speech, undermining the spirit of lawful political engagement.

Prof. Muleya also called on the government to prioritize energy diversification and emphasized that every Zambian is an integral part of the governance process, with a role to play in shaping the nation’s development.

Interpol alert against Sadhus was rigorously handled in France, not by individuals – Kalenga family

Interpol alert against Sadhus was rigorously handled in France, not by individuals – Kalenga family

By Mubanga Mubanga

The Kalenga family has dismissed media reports suggesting that fugitive and businessman Uddit Sadhu and his father Vinod Sadhu had been “cleared” of wrongdoing in Zambia.

Last week, wanted fugitive Uddit was apprehended in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by Interpol following the successful issuance of a Red  Notice by the Zambia Police Service.

They are alleged to have been on the run since 2023, when they left Zambia before law enforcement could arrest them.

Uddit allegedly faces multiple serious charges in connection with the alleged fraudulent takeover of  Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited.

In a statement to the media, Mususu Mambo Kalenga who spoke on behalf of the Kalenga family who are the complainants in the case, stated that in recent days, certain media outlets had circulated reports suggesting that Uddit was cleared of wrong doing.

Kelanga stated that the Interpol Red Notice against Uddit was issued lawfully following an application to Interpol by the Zambia Police Service as part of international policing cooperation.

According to the Kalenga family, the Sadhus allegedly took over Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited illegally and fraudulently after the death of its founder, their

INTERPOL ARREST WARRANT BOGUS-SUN PHARMACEUTICAL DIRECTOR

Sun Pharmaceuticals Limited has confirmed that one of its Directors, Uddit Sadhu, has been detained in Dubai based on an Interpol Red Corner Notice issued by Zambia.

Vinod Sadhu, owner and shareholder of Sun Pharmaceuticals said the Interpol Notice was issued with utter malice and fraud as the Directors have no court judgment or legitimate arrest warrant against them in Zambia or elsewhere.

Sadhu dismissed the purported arrest warrant issued in August 2022 in which the Red Alert Notice has been based on as illegal.

He said this in a press statement issued in Delhi India.

He said there has been consistent effort to defraud or steal the company’s succesful Judgement Debt for compensation won after almost two decades of litigation by himself and his company.

He accused individuals in the Zambia Police as being behind the harrasment colluding to steal the Judgment Debt his company won against the Development Bank of Zambia(DBZ)

He produced documents to show that the Directors immediately challenged the document when they became aware of it almost 3 years later in June 2025.

He said at the heart of the controversy and business dispute were great attempts to steal the Judgment Debt owed by Government to his firm.
He said their lives were threatened including the abduction they suffered a matter which is currently before the Lusaka High Court.

He said he and his family has lived in Zambia since 1978 and his son, Uddit Sadhu have been in Zambia until September 2023 and if they were wanted by any authorities through a warrant issued in 2022, they could have been arrested then.

He insisted that the complaint laid by the Kalengas about legal ownership of the company was baseless and since has been resolved conclusively in the courts of law in their favour as shown by court outcomes in the High Court and the Appeals Court.

He accused the Children of Hon. Mr. John Kalenga of acting with greed opportunism when they learnt that the company had won the case against the Development Bank of Zambia and was awarded compensation.

He said they have attempted to wrestle the ownership of the company after the company won the court case which the firm pursued since 2007 with their lawyers at the time, George Kunda Legal Practioners against DBZ.

He stated that when he acquired the company, it was facing foreclosure, forfeiture of industrial equipment, he invested in the company and rescued it and made it thriving as shown by detailed documents tendered in court.

DPP calls for recruitment of more judicial officers to improve economic and financial crimes court

DPP calls for recruitment of more judicial officers to improve economic and financial crimes court!

Director of Public Prosecutions-DDP Gilbert Phiri says the performance of the economic and financial crimes court could be significantly improved through the recruitment of more judicial officers.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Phiri notes that the court faces a huge backlog of cases, requiring additional hands to manage the workload effectively.

He says bringing in more judges and magistrates would allow for a dedicated team to handle only economic and financial crimes matters while streamlining the judicial process and speeding up case resolution.

Mr. Phiri, however, highlights that the court has performed very well since its launch over a year ago, despite the challenges posed by the volume of cases.

He has expressed optimism that with expanded staffing, the court will be even better positioned to deliver timely and efficient justice.

GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER PROGRAM, INCREASING BENEFICIARIES FROM 1.3 TO 1.5 MILLION

GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER PROGRAM, INCREASING BENEFICIARIES FROM 1.3 TO 1.5 MILLION

01-09-2025

In a significant move to bolster its social protection efforts, the Government has announced plans to increase the number of Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries from 1.3 million to 1.5 million, targeting vulnerable groups, including individuals living with disabilities, the elderly, child-headed households, and those with chronic illnesses. This initiative will be part of a scale-up exercise set to take place from 2025 to 2026.

During a Provincial Social Cash Transfer Scale-up stakeholders’ engagement meeting held in Kabwe today, Central Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe revealed that the province previously had less than 50,000 beneficiaries before President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration took office in 2021. Currently, the program supports 103,000 individuals within Central Province, with an additional 40,140 expected to benefit from the upcoming scale-up.

Dr. Mwanakampwe highlighted that the scale-up exercise, which commenced on August 23, 2025, and will conclude on December 23, 2025, builds on two decades of commitment from the government to enhance the social protection sector, evidenced by consistent increases in budget allocations for the program.

The Social Cash Transfer program serves as a crucial lifeline for households, enabling them to meet essential needs such as food, healthcare, education, and shelter. In his remarks, Dr. Mwanakampwe urged stakeholders to ensure that communities are well informed about the scale-up process, emphasizing the importance of identifying the right beneficiaries to align with the government’s commitment to assist those most in need.

Additionally, Senior Social Welfare Officer Mr. Musa Phiri noted that the 2025 scale-up will be conducted nationally across all 116 districts in the 10 provinces, adhering to the revised eligibility criteria. He also mentioned that female-headed households will be given priority during the enrollment phase to ensure that more underserved vulnerable groups are accommodated in the program.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the government to enhance social protection measures and uplift the most vulnerable populations across the nation.

Misozi Banda, 45, had gone to attend an overnight traditional initiation ceremony called Chinamwali on August 23, 2025, leaving her eldest daughter, the 18-year-old victim and her younger sibling with their 38-year-old stepfather.

While the victim’s mother participated in educating girls that had come of age at Chinamwali, her husband, January Phiri, 38, used the lonely night to sneak into her girls’ bedroom, capturing the eldest, and later on sexually abusing her.

After he was done having sex with his stepdaughter who he had dragged from her bedroom to his matrimonial bedroom, Phiri freed the victim.

Unhappy with the heinous act perpetuated against her, the victim reported Phiri to her grandmother, stating that she was not pleased her stepfather turned her into his wife while her mother was way.

Disturbed by the report, the grandmother immediately reported the matter to the victim’s mother on her return from an overnight traditional initiation ceremony.

Livingstone woman reports boyfriend for repeated anal r@pe

RATHER than engaging in conventional baby making activities by utilising the tunnel of pleasure, a Livingstone boyfriend has shaken up societal norms by inserting his baby making equipment in another slot usually used to release a number ‘two’, when answering the call of nature.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17HVdECLCy/

It is reported that man in question subjected his girlfriend to a continuous stream of anal intercourse, over the span of their five-year relationship.

The 33-year-old woman from Zambezi Sawmills compound in Livingstone, came forward to accuse  her 53-year-old boyfriend, also residing at the same address, of sexually abusing her ‘against the order of nature’ by forcing her to engage in anal intercourse throughout their five year relationship.

The incident is reported to have occurred between the year 2020 and August 29, 2025, at around 21:00 hours in the said compound.

According to authorities, both the victim and suspect have been cohabiting for five years, and have a child together through the five years period of conventional and conventional bedroom styles.

It is reported that the boyfriend has been forcibly engaging her in anal intercourse throughout the entirety of their relationship.

On the fateful night of August 29, 2025, at approximately 20:00 hours, the couple retired to bed, seemingly exhausted from the day’s events.

However, their peaceful rest was shattered as, at around 21:00 hours, the suspect reportedly demanded sexual intimacy from his girlfriend.

Despite the victim’s protests, stating she was experiencing physical discomfort, the suspect is alleged to have violently forced himself upon her, committing the heinous act of anal rape.

According to Southern Province police deputy commanding officer Moono Namalongo, this disgusting violation was a chilling testament to the depths of the suspect’s depravity and the torment endured by the victim at his hands.

“No arrest has been made yet but investigations into the matter are ongoing,” Namalongo added.

Donald Trump brushes off viral death rumours with strong statement

0

Despite what you might have heard from the internet, Donald Trump is not dead yet.

His obituary is very much going to be one you won’t need to work very hard to find, because when it happens, it’s going to be a big event.

Recently, some people have jumped the gun over certain recent developments after the US president was spotted trying to cover up bruises on his hands, hadn’t been spotted in public for a while, and JD Vance had been talking about what he’d do should the top job in the White House become available.

Some internet sleuths had even reckoned that the infamous ‘Pentagon pizza index’ was pointing towards major happenings and put it all together to reach the conclusion that Trump had died and the truth was about to come out.

In a demonstration that he was not actually dead, Trump was spotted playing golf with his granddaughter and issued a statement on the rumours of his health.

“NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE,” he wrote on Truth Social, and while it’s hard to believe that’s the case considering he’s 79 and was recently diagnosed with a chronic health condition, it is at least proof of life.

There have been several US presidents who’ve died in office and if that should ever happen again, then it’s the vice president’s job to take over, which is why JD Vance was asked about his potential readiness to do the job rather than it being some kind of secret sign he was already having to do it.

When he does pop his clogs, you’ll be able to hear about it from pretty much everywhere rather than just the rumours circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, in other recent Trump happenings, he said last week that many Americans ‘want a dictator’, before he then said it again the following – all while insisting he wasn’t a dictator.

He also wished Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, a couple he’s had plenty to say about in the past, the best of luck with their upcoming marriage.

Another executive order was signed by him, this one banning the burning of the American flag, which has allowed The Simpsons to chalk up another notch on the ‘we predicted it’ record.

Plans to hold a UFC event at the White House to celebrate the 250th birthday of the US next year are also still going to go ahead, despite the idea being criticised as ‘trashy’.

Beyond the concern some people have that Trump might die in office before the end of his term, there are others who worry he’s actually planning to run for a third term and stay in the White House well into his 80s.

Trump himself has flip-flopped between him ‘not joking’ about the prospect of a third term and denouncing the idea as a product of the ‘fake news media’.

CEO who grabbed a hat intended for a child on live TV at the US Open, breaks his silence

UPDATE: CEO who grabbed a hat intended for a child on live TV at the US Open, breaks his silence.

“Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served,” he claimed.

I understand that some people might not like it, but please, let’s not make a global scandal out of the hat. It’s just a hat.

I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.”~ Polish CEO Mr. Szczerek of the private company Drogbruk

While the statements are believed to have come from the CEO himself, the authenticity of the statements remains uncertain as Szczerek has since deactivated his social media profiles

Internet attacks company of millionaire CEO identified in video ‘stealing’ hat from kid at US Open

0

The Polish CEO at the centre of a ‘hat snatching’ scandal at the US Open has been facing intense backlash online, which includes attacks on his company’s reputation.

Forget the Coldplay CEO, as the internet has found a new millionaire to dunk on.

Over the weekend, a clip showing a young boy being offered the hat of Polish tennis star Kamil Majchrzak after his win at the US Open went viral for all the wrong reasons.

In the video, Majchrzak is signing balls for fans when he offers the lad his cap, only for the adult man next to him to brutally swipe the hat away.

The young boy can then be heard shouting ‘what are you doing?’ at the man as he hands the hat to his female companion to place in her bag.

The moment naturally caused outrage online as people couldn’t believe the man’s audacity, with several people calling for him to be named publicly.

He has now been named as Polish businessman Piotr Szczerek, who is understood to be the CEO of paving company Drogbruk.

Szczerek is believed to have deleted all of his social media accounts after being branded as a ‘bully’ and ‘thief’ – however, this hasn’t stopped particularly angry internet users from making their feelings towards the businessman known.

Without any personal social media handles to target, people have now taken to bombarding his company with bad reviews.

“I booked these guys into do me a driveway and their boss stole my son’s hat. Absolutely diabolical. Be warned,” reads one Google review for the company, which provides paving services in Poland.

“An absolutlely [sic] terrible CEO who steals from a kid and feels absolutely no remorse for it,” read a second review, while a third person posted: “He upset my son with his pathetic conduct/attitude.”

Meanwhile, the company’s TrustPilot site has currently suspended reviews due to the influx of comments.

https://twitter.com/Eurosport_FR/status/1961444763892412480

The young boy in the clip – later identified only by the name Brock – has since had a much happier ending in the whole affair, after Majchrzak reached out to provide him with another one of his hats.

After requesting the boy’s family reach out to him online, the 29-year-old shared an image of himself and Brock.

“I am impressed by the power of the Internet,” he added later, after being able to give the youngster a hat and goodie bag. “We got it! All good now.”

A report in The Times also added that Majchrzak had passed the contact details for Brock’s mother along to Szczerek, should the businessman wish to reach out.

Kenyan Police Officer Killed in Haiti Road Accident

A Kenyan police officer deployed to Haiti under a Kenyan-led multinational security mission was killed in a road traffic accident on Sunday, the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement on Monday.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, died when two MaxxPro armoured vehicles were involved in a crash during a recovery operation on Kenskoff-Pétion-Ville Road in the Pèlerin 9 area, according to the NPS.

Two civilians and eight other officers were injured, three of them critically, and are receiving treatment in hospital.

“The National Police Service extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and relatives of the fallen officer and assures them of our unwavering support during this time of profound sorrow,” said spokesperson Muthari Nyaga.

Kenya deployed its first batch of police officers to Haiti in June 2025 to head a United Nations-backed Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), tasked with helping the Haitian National Police (HNP) restore order in a country gripped by gang violence and political instability.

Nairobi committed up to 1,000 officers to the mission, which has also drawn pledges of support from other Caribbean and African states.

The deployment followed years of international appeals for intervention as gangs tightened their control of large parts of the capital Port-au-Prince, crippling state institutions and worsening a humanitarian crisis.

The U.N. estimates that more than 2,500 people were killed in Haiti in the first half of 2025 alone, with tens of thousands displaced by violence.

The NPS said arrangements were underway to repatriate the officer’s body to Kenya, while the MSS, in collaboration with Haitian authorities, continues to provide medical care to the injured.

Kenya’s government has defended its decision to lead the Haiti mission, saying it is part of Nairobi’s long tradition of contributing to peacekeeping operations worldwide.

However, the deployment has faced legal challenges at home and questions about the safety of officers operating in one of the world’s most dangerous environments.

“As a service, we remain committed to establishing lasting peace and security for the people of Haiti,” the NPS statement said.

Why people thought Donald Trump had died as sick rumour went viral

Donald Trump is not dead, regardless of what people on social media are saying.

Yesterday (30 August) saw platforms such as X and Facebook rife with speculation about the health of the President of the United States, with some people even going as far as to suggest there was an elaborate cover-up to hide the ‘fact’ that the 79-year-old had allegedly passed away.

People were pointing to recent images of the President’s bruised hands and chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis as ‘evidence’ that all was not well with his health, and doing the math on when he was last seen in public.

Add in the fact that Vice-President JD Vance recently said he was ready to step up should a ‘terrible tragedy’ befall Trump, and you were basically throwing petrol on an already smouldering fire.

So what made so many people think that Donald Trump had died yesterday?

According to Forbes, Trump’s last public appearance was on Wednesday (27 August) at a televised cabinet meeting.

Several people also pointed to the fact that he had not given a press conference for the recent shooting at a church connected to a Catholic school in Minneapolis or visited the Minnesota city in the wake of the attack, which killed two children and left several more injured.

Trump had, however, been active on his Truth Social account, including issuing the following statement on the Minnesota shooting: “I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene.

“The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!”

Pentagon ‘pizza index’ spike

A key part of this weekend’s rumours was a ‘spike’ in a website which records pizza orders around the Pentagon, which is home to the United States Department of Defence.

Known as the ‘Pentagon pizza index’, the site suggests that spikes in pizza orders suggest something major is happening, meaning that officials in the building are having to work late.

The theory is said to date back to the Cold War, when Soviet spies allegedly monitored pizza deliveries in the area under the assumption that a large number of orders would indicate that US officials were dealing with a crisis or were about to announce an invasion (via Euro News).

According to The Guardian, there was a spike in pizza orders near the Pentagon earlier this year, just before the US confirmed that it had launched a bombing mission against Iran.

Social media users claimed to have spotted a large spike in the early hours of 30 August, prompting the ‘Trump is dead’ theories to spread like wildfire.

However, it is worth noting that monitoring pizza orders isn’t an exact science, as anyone residing in Arlington, Virginia, could order a load of pizzas and send the internet into overdrive.

JD Vance’s ‘terrible tragedy’ comments

Amid the speculation about Trump’s whereabouts, a recent interview Vance gave to USA Today also began to circulate rapidly.

In the interview, the 41-year-old talked about his first 200 days as Vice-President and suggested that his current role had given him the best ‘on-the-job training’ possible should some ‘terrible tragedy’ befall Trump.

“God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days,” he said.

Vance also reiterated that he was ‘confident’ Trump was ‘going to serve out the remainder of his term’ – but of course, that didn’t make it onto social media.

General concerns about Trump’s health

Much fanfare has been made about the President appearing with bruises or white patches on his hands in recent months, prompting the White House to confirm his chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis after previously attempting to brush the marks off as the result of the President shaking hands with people every day.

Given that Trump is also 79 and will be well into his 82nd year by the time he leaves office, it’s not surprising that people are analysing every photo for clues on his overall health.

What has the White House said about the rumours?
The White House has not officially addressed the speculation about Trump’s health; however, journalist Barak Ravid took to X yesterday to state that an unnamed US official had told him the following: “Trump is OK. Will play Golf this morning.”

The POTUS was later spotted at a golf course with his granddaughter, Kai Trump, putting an end to all speculation about his alleged demise.

Hospice nurse who ‘experienced death’ admits it’s ’beyond anything she could describe’

0

A hospice nurse has shared a ‘wild’ experience she had that was so unusual she struggles to put it into words.

Julie McFadden, better known online as Hospice Nurse Julie, has worked as an end-of-life carer for nearly a decade.

Julie is known for sharing her first-hand accounts of people’s dying process, having held the hands of hundreds of patients over the years.

She even has her own book, titled Nothing to Fear: Demystifying Death to Live More Fully, which hit shelves last year.

Previously, Julie has discussed three things that are often part of the dying process; one being that the patient can still hear people in their final moments.

“There have been studies done on people who were dying which showed the hearing sensor in the brain was the last bit to shut down,” she said.

“Please don’t argue, or don’t talk about them like they aren’t there because we do believe they can hear you,” she went on to urge, adding: “As a hospice nurse, I always try to speak to the people who are unconscious like they could answer me back.”

Elsewhere, Julie has recalled one particular experience she had when someone she was caring for was nearing the end of their life.

In her book, she recounted looking after a man named Randy whom she’d ‘really got to know’.

“He was a younger man who didn’t have many friends or family, because in his life, he pushed people away,” she wrote about Randy.

“He had a lot of mental health issues, a lot of anxiety, and was a hoarder. When we came into his house — which was unsafe and unliveable — he was desperate.”

Julie managed to get in touch with some distant cousins of Randy’s, and between them, they arranged for him to be at home so that she could care for him.

She said that after this happened, he was ‘like a different person’ and he knew there were people there to look after him.

Julie was Randy’s nurse for nine months up until his death. With her experience in mind, she knew on the day that he died that it would be the last time she saw him.

“He was unconscious, barely breathing, and looked very comfortable,” Julie recalled. Seeing this, she said her final goodbyes and left to drive home.

It was when she got in the car that she had a very unique experience.

Wishing farewell to Randy once more in her head, she began to hear him talking back to her.

“In that moment, I heard his voice in my head. It hit every sense: I could hear his voice, I could feel how he was feeling, and I could see him in my mind’s eye,” Julie said. “[He said] ‘Oh my gosh, Julie, if only I had known how good this was going to be, I wouldn’t have been so afraid.’ It felt like he was smiling and soaring.”

Julie admitted that it was hard to articulate exactly how it felt, but was sure it was ‘something beyond anything she could ever describe’.

She went on to recount: “I was so emotional in the moment that I was weeping tears of joy in my car. I was so overwhelmed by what he was showing me.”

White Woman from Georgia Sues Fertility Clinic After Giving Birth to a Black Baby

Krystena Murray, a white woman from Savannah, Georgia, is suing Coastal Fertility Specialists after an IVF mix-up led her to give birth to a Black child who isn’t biologically hers. She claims the clinic’s negligence caused her significant emotional and physical distress.Murray had been trying to conceive through IVF for nearly two years. In December 2023, she gave birth but quickly realized something was wrong—the baby did not share her or the sperm donor’s features. A DNA test later confirmed the embryo she had carried belonged to another couple.

Despite the shock, Murray initially chose to raise the child. However, when the biological parents sued for custody, she surrendered the baby in May 2024, avoiding a legal battle she was unlikely to win.

“I spent my entire life wanting to be a mom. I loved, nurtured, and grew my child, and I would have done literally anything in my power to keep him. My baby is not genetically mine. He doesn’t have my blood. He doesn’t have my eyes. But he is and will always be my son,” Murray told Newsweek.

Her attorney, Adam Wolf, criticized the lack of regulations for fertility clinics, saying, “Coastal Fertility Specialists made a serious mistake, and the consequences are life-altering for Krystena. This is not the first IVF mix-up case that I’ve handled, and sadly, it will not be the last.”

Coastal Fertility Specialists called the error ‘unprecedented’ and apologized, stating they have implemented new safeguards to prevent future mistakes.

Murray is now seeking over $75,000 in damages, arguing that the clinic’s mistake forced her into an unwanted surrogacy.

Snoop Dogg apologizes to LGBT community

In August 2025, Snoop Dogg found himself in the middle of controversy after comments he made about Disney and Pixar’s 2022 film Lightyear.

Speaking on the It’s Giving podcast, the rapper recounted taking his grandson to see the animated movie, which features a brief same-sex kiss between Alisha Hawthorne (voiced by Uzo Aduba) and her wife, Kiko.

Snoop explained that his grandson asked, “Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!” The question, he admitted, left him unprepared. He responded by saying, “It fucked me up… I’m scared to go to the movies… These are kids. We have to show that at this age?”

His comments, which suggested discomfort with LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films, immediately sparked criticism online. Fans and activists accused him of being dismissive and homophobic, with some even calling for his removal from a scheduled performance at Australia’s AFL Grand Final.

Snoop Dogg’s Apology and Clarification
On August 30, 2025, Snoop addressed the backlash with an apology in the comments of a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram post. The post featured media personality TS Madison discussing his remarks. Snoop wrote: “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.”

The Snoop Dogg Lightyear apology was seen as his attempt to clarify that his reaction wasn’t rooted in malice but in being unprepared to explain same-sex parenting to his young grandson. He emphasized having love and support from his LGBTQ+ friends, signaling a willingness to learn.

Reactions to the apology were mixed. Some fans appreciated the gesture and noted growth, while others criticized it as a “fake apology” and argued that explaining same-sex relationships to a child could be as simple as saying, “Sometimes girls like other girls.”

Lightyear’s Same-Sex Kiss and Its Impact
The Lightyear same-sex kiss that triggered Snoop’s remarks has long been a flashpoint in cultural debates. The scene, initially cut by Disney executives, was reinstated in 2022 after internal Pixar pushback tied to Disney’s response to Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The film was subsequently banned in 14 countries, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Screenwriter Lauren Gunderson defended the inclusion, emphasizing its significance for representation. “As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal,” she said, adding, “Love is love.”

The decision to include the kiss underscored Pixar’s commitment to showing diverse family structures, making it a milestone moment for LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream children’s media.

Broader Debate Over LGBTQ+ Representation
The Snoop Dogg Lightyear apology highlighted broader questions around LGBTQ+ inclusion in children’s films. Supporters argue that showing diverse families reflects the reality many kids live in and helps normalize acceptance. Critics, like Snoop in his initial comments, worry about whether such content is “age-appropriate.”

Advocates point out that heterosexual relationships are regularly portrayed in children’s media without question, while same-sex relationships continue to spark debate. To them, the issue isn’t about age but about cultural bias. Townsend’s apology for being “caught off guard” suggests a generational gap in navigating these conversations with children.

For some, Snoop’s follow-up showed humility and a willingness to learn. For others, it revealed how easily LGBTQ+ representation can still provoke discomfort. The mix of reactions proves the conversation is far from over.

Why Snoop Dogg’s Apology Matters
The controversy shows the power of celebrity comments to shape cultural dialogue. Snoop Dogg is one of the most recognizable figures in music and entertainment. His initial remarks drew sharp criticism, but his apology opened space for reflection on how parents and grandparents can approach conversations about LGBTQ+ topics with children.

While divided opinions remain, the Snoop Dogg Lightyear apology shows at least an openness to growth. As LGBTQ+ representation in media expands, more parents will face similar questions. Snoop’s journey from discomfort to apology highlights how these discussions are evolving in the public eye.

Xi Jinping says China always a trustworthy partner of UN

Xinhua | China will always be a trustworthy partner of the United Nations (UN), Chinese President Xi Jinping said when meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the port city of Tianjin on Saturday.

China is willing to deepen cooperation with the UN, support the UN in playing a central role in international affairs, and jointly shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding world peace and promoting development and prosperity, Xi told Guterres, who is here to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025.

Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th founding anniversary of the UN, Xi said history has revealed that multilateralism, solidarity and cooperation are the right answer to global challenges.

Xi called for restoring the UN’s authority and vitality under new circumstances, so that it can serve as the main platform for all countries to coordinate actions and jointly address challenges.

In a world of profound changes unseen in a century, China has provided stability and certainty and will continue to bring new opportunities to the world with its new development, Xi said.

TikTok Takes Down Influencers In Russian Jobs Scandal

TikTok has taken down the accounts of several influencers who are involved in the Russian jobs scandal.

The glamorous world of South African social media influence has been plunged into chaos following the explosive revelation that a much-promoted Russian work programme was a dangerous front for alleged human trafficking and forced labour.

The scheme, known as the Alabuga START Programme, was sold to young women via TikTok by some of Mzansi’s most-followed personalities, promising an all-expenses-paid opportunity for education and employment. The reality, however, was a nightmare of confiscated passports and forced work in military manufacturing.

Industry experts point to the nation’s high youth unemployment as a key factor in the scam’s success. A social media analyst commented,

“The 48% unemployment rate among young women creates a desperate hunger for opportunity. These influencers, whether knowingly or not, exploited that vulnerability for a payday, making them complicit in a truly sinister operation.”

TikTok Takes Action Amidst Public Outcry
The public backlash was swift and severe, leading to direct consequences for those involved. The platform X was flooded with demands for accountability, prompting TikTok to issue permanent bans on the accounts of several major influencers linked to the campaign, including Cyan Boujee, Seemah Mango, Peachy Sprinkle, and Zillewizzy. The platform stated the removals were for violating its policies on harmful misinformation and coordinated deceptive activity.

In the wake of the bans, a wave of tearful apologies flooded other social media channels. Cyan Boujee insisted,

“I wasn’t in it for the money,” claiming she had not received any payment for her promotional posts. Another influencer, Seemah Mango, offered a mea culpa to her followers, admitting, “I should have researched better. I ignored the red flags, and for that I am truly sorry.”

Agencies Scramble As Government Investigation Looms
Behind the scenes, the talent agencies representing these influencers are in full-scale damage control mode. In a rare joint statement, a coalition of agencies confirmed that an astonishing 40 content creators were involved in promoting the Russian scheme. It is widely speculated that influencers were paid between R50,000 and R150,000 for their endorsements, a fact that raises severe ethical questions under advertising standards.

The crisis is now moving from the digital realm to the highest levels of government. Agencies have been summoned to a meeting with the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster to answer for their role in the scandal, which is being investigated for potential human trafficking and labour violations. The Russian embassy in Pretoria has denied all allegations, calling international reports “unfounded.”

However, this stance is contradicted by actions on the ground, with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) confirming it assisted in the rescue of at least one South African woman from the programme after she appealed to the embassy in Moscow. Officials have issued a stern warning to the public. Deputy Justice Minister Andries Nel urged caution, stating,

“The public must be extremely cautious of these schemes. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.”

Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial Postponed Again Over Evidence Linked to Kelly Khumalo’s Neighbour

Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial Postponed Again Over Evidence Linked to Kelly Khumalo’s Neighbour

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has once again been pushed back, with proceedings now set to resume on Monday.

The delay comes after heated arguments in court over whether the state can rely on a statement allegedly made by Kelly Khumalo’s late neighbour, Thabang Makaleni.

Defence Challenges “New Evidence”
According to Sunday World, advocate Charles Mnisi and Sipho Ramosepele, representing some of the accused, argued that the state had already closed its case and could not now seek to rely on fresh evidence. They accused the prosecution of trying to “smuggle” the statement into proceedings.

“This evidence should have been introduced before the state closed its case,” they told the court.

Background on Makaleni’s Statement
State prosecutor George Baloyi said the oral statement was made by Makaleni to Warrant Officer Steenkamp on October 27, 2014. Although Steenkamp did not testify in court, Baloyi insisted that the statement had been handed in.

Makaleni, who reportedly lived near Khumalo’s Vosloorus home in 2014, died in 2019 from poisoning. He was said to have linked the five accused to the murder scene before his death.

Did Defence Already Raise It?
Baloyi further argued that Ramosepele himself had previously raised the statement—once during the cross-examination of Zandi Khumalo in July 2023 and again during the questioning of Brigadier Bongani Gininda in November 2024.

However, Ramosepele denied this, insisting that he only cross-examined Khumalo on descriptions of those inside the house and never touched on Makaleni’s evidence.

Defence Pushes Back Hard
Mnisi told the court that the matter was irrelevant at this stage of proceedings, stressing that if the state believed its case was incomplete, it had legal avenues to apply for reopening.

“What is the purpose of this sitting, my Lord? Is it to introduce new evidence or to make a determination on whether or not accused number 4 should be discharged under Section 174?” Mnisi asked.

Case Resumes Monday

With arguments still unsettled, the trial was adjourned until Monday, prolonging the marathon case that has gripped the nation since Meyiwa’s death in 2014.

Ford to Retrench 470 Workers in Pretoria and Gqeberha Amid Economic Pressures

Ford has confirmed that 470 employees will be retrenched at its South African operations as part of a production realignment. The cuts will affect staff at the company’s plants in Pretoria and Gqeberha.

According to Ford, 391 operator roles will be terminated at its Silverton plant, along with 73 positions at Struandale and 10 administrative roles.

Solidarity Warns Retrenchments Could Signal Wider Job Losses in Auto Industry
Trade union Solidarity confirmed the announcement to Kaya959 and voiced deep concern about the broader implications for South Africa’s already fragile automotive sector.

“We see this announcement as possibly the beginning of greater job losses facing the entire automotive industry in South Africa,” said Solidarity’s deputy general secretary, Willie Venter.

Economic Pressures and Policy Challenges Blamed for Ford Job Cuts
Venter linked the retrenchments to global political uncertainty, economic pressures, and government policies that he argued make South Africa less competitive.

“When an automotive giant like Ford takes such drastic steps, it is a warning to the entire industry. We fear that further retrenchments may be inevitable if conditions do not improve quickly,” he warned.

Union Engages in CCMA Talks, Pledges to Protect Workers and Communities

Solidarity confirmed it will take part in the consultation process through the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA). The union pledged to work to minimise job losses and ensure fair treatment of affected employees.

“These retrenchments will seriously impact the communities in Pretoria and Gqeberha, and it is once again indicative of how vulnerable South African industries are under the current economic climate.

“Without serious intervention and economic reform from our government, our country will have to endure even more job losses,” Venter said.

Princess Diana’s final words revealed by firefighter at scene of fatal crash

A firefighter who attended the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana suffered a fatal car crash has revealed what may have been her final words.

It’s been 28 years since the Princess of Wales, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed, and security chief Henri Paul died in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in 1997.

Reports suggest that Paul was driving a Mercedes-Benz S280 at high speed while a total of nine journalists were chasing them down.

Paul reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a column in the underpass, which killed him and Fayed instantly.

Diana and Fayed’s bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, was left severely injured as firefighters attended the scene with emergency services.

On the 20th anniversary of her death, French firefighter Xavier Gourmelon told Good Morning Britain what she said to him.

Upon arrival, he said no one was aware who had been involved in the crash, and he couldn’t recognise Diana.

Gourmelon said: “She looked at me and said, ‘Oh my God, what’s happened?’”.

He claims she looked ‘agitated’ in the car wreck before losing consciousness yet again.

“I tried to calm her down and tell her we’d look after her, and she fell into a coma again,” he revealed.

“At that moment, the doctor said she was in cardiac arrest.

“So, we gave her CPR, and after 20 seconds, she regained consciousness, and we transferred her to the ambulance.”

The firefighter said that after she was taken to the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, he expected her to make a full recovery, as he could only see the injuries to her shoulders and didn’t see any blood on her.

Sadly, Diana died from another cardiac arrest at around 4.00am, as doctors were unable to resuscitate her.

Fayed’s bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, sustained severe injuries but survived the crash.

A French investigation concluded that Paul was intoxicated and driving recklessly, which led to the crash.

Whereas the British inquest, known as Operation Paget, further examined the circumstances and returned with a verdict of ‘unlawful killing’ due to grossly negligent driving.

The inquest also noted that none of the occupants were wearing seat belts, which contributed to the severity of the injuries.

Diana and Fayed embarked on a brief, yet widely publicised romance before their death.

It came after the Princess and Prince Charles finalised their divorce in 1997, after 15 years of marriage.

Their separation was announced in December 1992, as Queen Elizabeth II urged the couple to formally divorce, which they did four years later.

In 1995, two years before the fatal car crash, Diana wrote a note that seemingly predicted her own cause of death.
