VIDEO: French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife snubbed him after he offered her a helping hand as they got off a plane in front of UK royals

French President Emmanuel Macron has yet again been humiliated in public by his wife.

Macron faced an awkward moment on Tuesday when his wife, Brigitte Macron, ignored his offer of a helping hand as they disembarked from a plane in the presence of British royals.

In the video, Macron who got off the jet first, stood below the air stairs and stretched his hand towards his wife.

Brigitte, who was following Macron, majestically walked down the stairs and turned away after getting close to her husband, ignoring his help.

The incident, captured on camera, comes just weeks after Brigitte was seen pushing the president in the face during another tense moment while exiting a flight.

The couple’s public interactions have sparked widespread discussion, with the latest snub adding fuel to speculation about their dynamic.

Leaked audio of Trump threatening Putin that he will ‘bomb the s*** out of Moscow’ surfaces

In a newly surfaced audio recording from a 2024 private campaign fundraiser, President Donald Trump claimed he issued stark warnings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to deter potential invasions of Ukraine and Taiwan.

The recording, obtained by CNN captures Trump boasting to donors about his aggressive foreign policy stance.

According to the audio, Trump recounted telling Putin, “If you go into Ukraine, I’m going to bomb the s—t out of Moscow. I’m telling you, I have no choice.”

He claimed Putin responded with disbelief, saying, “No way,” but added that the Russian leader believed the threat “10 percent,” which Trump suggested was sufficient to deter aggression.

Trump described a similar conversation with Xi, stating he warned that if China invaded Taiwan, the U.S. would “bomb the s—t out of Beijing.”

He noted Xi thought he was “crazy” but believed the threat to a similar degree, adding, “10 percent is all you need.”

The remarks, made during fundraisers in New York and Florida, reflect a provocative side of Trump’s rhetoric behind closed doors as he campaigned for his second term.

The Kremlin, through spokesman Dmitry Peskov, responded cautiously, stating it could not confirm the authenticity of the recording and noting the prevalence of “fake news.”

Peskov also suggested no such conversation occurred during the Biden administration, as Trump was not president at the time.

North Korea throws major challenge to U.S and Israel, threaten to help Iran b0mb them if they commit one particular mistake

North Korea’s embassy in Tehran has publicly declared its support for Iran in the middle of an ongoing ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

The Asian powerhouse stated that it will “stand firmly” by Iran if the United States or Israel violates the ceasefire.

This statement aligns with the close ties between North Korea and Iran, which have been strengthened by shared international sanctions and military cooperation.

Their bond also includes providing weapons to Russia for its war against Ukraine.

North Korea has for sometime now subjected Israel and the United to criticism due to their role in the feud with Iran.

The ceasefire in question refers to the Israel-Iran agreement brokered by the U.S. and Qatar.

It was effective June 24, 2025, following a 12-day conflict involving Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites.

92-years-old Cameroon President, Paul Biya has declared his candidacy for the 2025 Presidential election

Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, aged 92, has officially announced his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled for October 2025.

Having been in power since 1982, Biya is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders and known as the longest in Africa currently.

His announcement was confirmed by Cavayé Yéguié Djibril, President of the National Assembly, who declared Biya as the candidate from the Far North region.

Cameroon’s constitution has no age or term limits, allowing Biya to seek an eighth consecutive term.

The election is expected to be competitive, with at least 10 other candidates having declared their intention to run.

However, Biya’s candidacy has sparked debate due to his advanced age, health concerns, and over four decades in office.

Critics pointto authoritarian practices and allegations of electoral fraud, while supporters within his Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) and coalition partners like the MDR and UPC continue to back him.

South Korea is offering up to $51,400 in financial incentives for people to date, marry, and have children

In a move to combat South Korea’s record-low birth rate of 0.72 children per woman, Busan’s Saha District has launched a matchmaking program offering substantial financial incentives to encourage dating, marriage, and family formation.

The initiative, which began as a pilot in October 2024, targets singles aged 23 to 43 who live or work in the district, with plans to expand to foreign nationals in 2025.

The program provides cash subsidies at various relationship milestones: couples who start dating through the district’s matchmaking event receive 500,000 won ($360) each, totaling $720 per couple.

“This project is designed to overcome the demographic crisis by forming a multicultural local community,” said Saha District head Lee Gap-jun.

Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery announces a major development plan in  Namibia which will benefit Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and others

Dangote Petroleum Refinery continus it’s expansion in Africa and this time Namibia is their next destination.

Reports suggest the Dangote’s refinery is planning to construct a fuel storage facility in Walvis Bay, Namibia.

The project is said to have a capacity of at least 1.6 million barrels of gasoline and diesel.

This strategic move aims to supply refined fuel to southern African countries, including Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and potentially southern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The facility, to be located within the Walvis Bay harbor, is part of Dangote’s ambition to dominate Africa’s fuel supply chain and reshape regional energy trade flows.

Construction is expected to begin soon, though the project cost has not been disclosed.

The 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery, built by Aliko Dangote at a cost of $20 billion, started operations in 2024 and is expanding its export markets, having recently shipped gasoline to Asia.

Nigeria reject U.S attempts to persuade African countries to accept Venezuelan prison deportees

Nigeria has firmly rejected U.S. pressure to accept Venezuelan deportees, including those released from U.S. prisons, as part of a broader push by the Trump administration to have African nations take in third-country migrants.

Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar emphasized Nigeria’s stance, citing the country’s population of over 230 million and its existing challenges as reasons for refusal.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on July 10, 2025, Tuggar stated, “It will be difficult for a country like Nigeria to accept Venezuelan prisoners into Nigeria. We have enough problems of our own.”

He further argued that accepting even 300 deportees could set a precedent for further demands, which Nigeria considers unfair.

The U.S. has reportedly pressured other African nations, including Liberia, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Gabon, to accept these deportees, with discussions occurring during a White House meeting with their leaders on July 9, 2025.

An internal U.S. State Department document, cited by The Wall Street Journal, urged these countries to agree to the “dignified, safe, and timely transfer” of third-country nationals.

However, Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti denied any such discussions, and Guinea-Bissau’s president claimed Trump did not explicitly ask them to accept deportees.

Tuggar also suggested that recent U.S. actions, such as a 10% tariff on Nigerian goods and visa restrictions limiting Nigerians to single-entry, three-month visas, might be retaliatory measures linked to Nigeria’s refusal.

UAE bans Nigerians aged 18-45 from applying tourist Visas; sets new conditions fir the country

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced stringent new visa restrictions for Nigerian travelers, barring those aged 18 to 45 from applying for tourist visas unless accompanied by a family member or group.

The policy, effective immediately, was communicated to travel agents on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, and also includes a complete ban on transit visa applications for Nigerian nationals.

According to directives from Dubai immigration authorities, Nigerians aged 18 to 45 traveling alone are no longer eligible for the tourist visa category.

For those aged 45 and above, a six-month personal bank statement showing a minimum monthly closing balance of $10,000 (or its naira equivalent) is now required to qualify for a tourist visa. Additional documents, such as hotel bookings and passport biodata pages, must also be submitted.

The new measures follow the UAE’s lifting of a two-year visa ban on Nigerians in September 2024, a decision that had initially been welcomed by the travel community.

Niger president address issues of terrorism, issue strong warning to France againp

Niger’s military leader, General Abdourahamane Tchiani has accused France of funding and training terrorist groups to destabilize the Alliance of Sahel States (Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso).

According to him, France has been one of the major reason for terrorism in the Sahel areas of the African continent.

Niger’s junta, led by Tchiani, ended military cooperation with France in 2023, citing sovereignty concerns, and French troops fully withdrew by December 2023.

This aligns with broader regional shifts, including the formation of the Alliance of Sahel States and pivots toward Russian partnerships.

On the other hand, France has historically justified its military presence in the Sahel as a counterterrorism effort, supporting the G5 Sahel (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger).

The French argued a support against groups like al-Qaeda and Islamic State affiliates in the Sahel states.

France’s Operation Barkhane, launched in 2014, aimed to curb jihadist threats but faced criticism for limited success and perceived overreach.

Critics, including some Sahel leaders, argue France’s actions exacerbated instability or served its own interests, such as securing uranium resources in Niger.

Tensions are currently high among the two countries as well as other Sahel States about the interference of France in their respective countries.

Great moment citizens joined hands to build roads brick by brick in Burkina Faso’s capital

The capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, has been the focus of significant infrastructure development.

It all particularly begun under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, who came to power following a 2022 coup.

An X report by “Typical African” highlight an ambitious initiative to improve road infrastructure, often framed as a community-driven effort under the “Faso Mêbo” initiative.

This program involves volunteers and local workers contributing to urban development, including road construction, in cities like Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso.

For example, volunteers have been noted to provide materials like cement and sand for these projects.

In one of the videos shared via X, citizens could be seen busily tiling the roads brick by brick.

This highlights the determination of citizens to join hands in construction works that will make the country a great place to be.

Malian government stormed minning site with helicopters and seized over one metric ton of gold from Foreign minning firm, Barrick Mining Corp

Malian government has taken another dramatic action towards gaining total control of their mining sector.

It was discovered that government helicopters seized over one metric ton of gold from a Mining firm.

The gold, valued at approximately $107-117 million was retrieved from Barrick Mining Corp.’s Loulo-Gounkoto complex.

This action escalated a two-year dispute over taxes and mining licenses, following Mali’s 2023 mining code changes demanding higher royalties and state stakes.

Barrick, which suspended operations in January 2025 after Mali blocked gold exports and seized three metric tons of gold, condemned the seizure as “illegitimate” and is pursuing international arbitration.

The Malian government, aiming to restart the mine under court-appointed administrator Soumana Makadji, plans to sell the gold to fund operations.

The Honourable Minister of Home Affairs
Republic of South Africa

Urgent Inquiry into the Undeclared Entry and Status of Former Zambian President Edgar Lungu In South Africa

Dear Honourable Minister,

I am writing to urgently request clarification from your office regarding the highly irregular and undocumented presence of the late former President of Zambia, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, on South African soil.

As has now been widely reported across media platforms, Mr. Lungu entered South Africa under highly questionable circumstances, with multiple discrepancies in documentation, identity, and tracking. The gravity of this matter demands immediate and transparent answers.

We bring the following facts and concerns to your attention:

1. According to credible sources, Mr. Lungu entered South Africa on 19 January 2025 using a Zambian diplomatic passport with the passport number of D0013631. He was granted 90 days to remain in the country expiring on 19 April 2025.

2. After that date, there appears to have been no further movement registered under that Zambian passport. However, Mr. Lungu continued to move in and out of South Africa using a pseudo Zimbabwean diplomatic passport, effectively bypassing immigration controls and avoiding accountability for overstaying.

This points to a serious breach of oversight within the Department of Home Affairs, which is constitutionally responsible for maintaining accurate

population and movement records.
In addition to the above:

We are aware that both Mediclinic in Pretoria and another unnamed hospital have confirmed that no patient by the name of Edgar Lungu was ever admitted, suggesting that he received treatment under an alias or undocumented identity.

Who, then, was declared dead by Home Affairs, and under what identity? Is there any official death certificate or population record entry corresponding to Mr. Lungu’s passing?

Why was no deportation, alert, or immigration flag raised after he overstayed his 90-day diplomatic clearance?

Was this identity manipulation not detected by the National Population Register (NPR), biometric controls, or movement tracking systems?

The implications are severe. This is not merely a matter of immigration control; it is a matter of national security, sovereignty, and integrity of diplomatic protocol enforcement.

3. Is there any record in the National Population Register (NPR) of his temporary or permanent residence status, or hospital admittance clearance?

4. Was the Zimbabwean passport he used scanned into the DHA’s Movement Control System, and if so, why was his true identity not flagged?

5. Under the Immigration Act, how are high-profile foreign nationals vetted, especially when their names do not match biometric or facial recognition databases linked to SADC states?

6. Has any inter-agency protocol failure occurred between Home Affairs and DIRCO in handling this case?

We stress that this is not simply a case of immigration oversight; it is a matter of national sovereignty, protocol integrity, and legal compliance. We ask that your department provide a transparent and detailed account of how this incident was permitted to occur.

We await a swift and detailed response.

Yours sincerely,

Bonang Sepoloane

VICE PRESIDENT URGES OPPOSITION TO STOP POLITICIZING LATE PRESIDENT LUNGU’S LEGACY

VICE PRESIDENT URGES OPPOSITION TO STOP POLITICIZING LATE PRESIDENT LUNGU’S LEGACY.

Vice President Mutale Nalumango has called on opposition political parties to refrain from using the name of the late sixth Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, as a campaign tool during by-elections.

Mrs. Nalumango says the late President deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, stating that invoking the names of the deceased for political mileage goes against Zambian culture and tradition.

She says speaking about the dead can evoke unintended emotions among the public adding that there is much more the opposition can do to contribute meaningfully to national development through credible checks and balances.

The Vice President was responding to a question from Mongu Central Member of Parliament, Oliver Amutike, during the Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament.

She further notes that politicizing the legacy of the late President does not serve the interests of the citizens as they do not live among the dead.

Mrs. Nalumango says President Lungu did his part for the country, a reason why he continues to be respected, despite the UPND not having had agreed with him on political issues.

Tonse Alliance  slam Speaker’s defiance of Constitutional Court judgment

SPEAKER MUTTI UNDER FIRE FOR “BLIND RULING” ON UNCONSTITUTIONAL BILL 7

…..…Tonse Alliance, legal experts slam Speaker’s defiance of Constitutional Court judgment

Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti has found herself at the center of a growing political and constitutional storm after delivering a ruling that critics have branded “misguided, reckless, and legally blind.”

At the heart of the controversy is Bill 7, a proposed amendment that the Constitutional Court has already ruled as having been birthed through unconstitutional means a decision that, in the eyes of many legal minds, should have buried the Bill once and for all.

But Speaker Mutti stunned the House and the nation when she declared that Parliament could still proceed with Bill 7, arguing that the Constitutional Court had no jurisdiction to interfere with the legislative process. That pronouncement has triggered fury, not just from opposition circles, but from prominent legal figures as well.

Celestine Mambula Mukandila, National Youth Chairperson of the Tonse Alliance and the lawyer who petitioned the court over the Bill’s legitimacy, came out swinging.

“It is an utter embarrassment that the head of Parliament would issue a ruling without reading the judgment that governs the very matter at hand,” Mukandila charged. “This is not just administrative laziness it is a direct insult to the Constitution and the authority of the courts.”

He said Speaker Mutti’s failure to engage with the ratio decidendi the legal backbone of the Constitutional Court’s judgment amounted to judicial defiance and a dangerous precedent that could shatter the separation of powers doctrine enshrined in Zambia’s democratic system.

This is not a legislative error. This is a premeditated attempt to bulldoze a Bill declared illegal,” Mukandila said, warning that the Tonse Alliance will not allow the Constitution to be “shredded for convenience.”

He further threatened contempt of court proceedings against the Ministry of Justice should it dare proceed with the amendments.

Legal analysts have since weighed in, describing Speaker Mutti’s move as “constitutionally absurd” and “a mockery of justice.”

Former Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba was equally unforgiving, urging the Executive to disregard the Speaker’s political gymnastics and trash the Bill altogether. Kabimba noted that the Court’s ruling was aimed squarely at the Executive’s abuse of process and had no bearing on legislative autonomy, contrary to what the Speaker claimed.

“The ruling was clear the process was flawed from the start. You can’t fix an illegality by continuing with it,” Kabimba argued.

The controversy has now snowballed into a full-blown constitutional crisis, with critics accusing Mutti of arming Parliament with immunity to violate the law, thereby rendering court rulings meaningless.

Mukandila concluded with a chilling warning:

“If this behavior is allowed to stand, we will be left with a Parliament that no longer respects the law, a government that manufactures laws in the shadows, and a Speaker who silences justice to protect political interests.”

BISHOP MASUPA REJECTS CALLS TO ABOLISH THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, FASTING, AND RECONCILIATION

BISHOP MASUPA REJECTS CALLS TO ABOLISH THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, FASTING, AND RECONCILIATION

The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) has firmly rejected calls to abolish the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation, describing such demands as baseless and lacking national consensus.

speaking to Sun FM TV News, ICOZ president Bishop David Masupa expressed concern over what he termed the politicization of the day, particularly in light of recent controversies surrounding the funeral of former President Edgar Lungu.

Bishop Masupa emphasized that the Day of Prayer transcends politics and has been instrumental in promoting national values and unity.

he noted that this was the very reason President Lungu established the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs in 2015, a move aimed at institutionalizing moral and spiritual renewal.

he further argued that any decision to abolish the day should be informed by broad-based consultation, not social media sentiment.

Dear Online Family;

I have a family; a career, and a community that I serve and to be constantly dragged back into something that happened over 13 years ago every time there is a new headline is not only unkind, it is unacceptable.

At the time, I took full accountability for my actions. I went to prison, / served my sentence, and I paid my dues – something I have never hidden or denied. Since then, I have worked hard to rebuild my life with dignity and purpose.

I usually stay silent and choose not to respond to this tired narrative. But this time, it has gone too far: I need to speak up for myself.

Let me be clear: / will not tolerate being used as clickbait or a point of reference for stories that do not involve me. Any further attempts to do so will be treated as harassment, and I will explore all necessary steps to protect my peace, my privacy, and my reputation.

HON MWIIMBU IMAGINE IF THE LUNGU FAMILY WERE TO COME ACROSS YOUR PARLIAMENTARY SPEECH, WOULD YOU STILL BLAME THEM FOR WANTING TO BURY  ECL IN SA?

Hon Saili Mavegie Phiri shares…

Hon Mwiimbu, take a moment to consider how the ECL family in South Africa might react to your parliamentary speech yesterday.

Your criticism of their desire to bury the former president in South Africa has been marked by vitriolic personal attacks on the family, everyone is putting the blame on them, calling them bitter and disorganized
As a respected leader, i thought you would on the forefront to spearhead the call for reconciliation.

Instead, you have continued to stress your shortcomings and lay blame at the feet of the deceased.

If you sincerely believe that the former president’s actions were as heinous as you claim, why are you picking odds with the family regarding his burial? Why not simply permit them to bury their loved one according to their wishes?

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CLARIFIES CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BILL 7 IS DEFERRED NOT DISCONTINUED

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CLARIFIES CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BILL 7 IS DEFERRED NOT DISCONTINUED

President Hakainde Hichilema has clarified that the constitutional amendment bill 7 process has not been discontinued, but rather deferred, and stakeholders should not be misled into thinking otherwise.

Speaking during a meeting with United Cations Resident Coordinator Beatrice Mutali and her delegation at State House this afternoon, President Hichilema explained that the deferral was necessary to allow more time for stakeholder engagement and to gather more content from various parties.

The president stressed that constitutional amendments are necessary every 10 years and that the process will continue when the time is right.

He also highlighted the importance of national interests, particularly in the repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu’s remains, and assured that government will work with the lungu family to ensure a smooth process.

Earlier, UN Resident Coordinator Beatrice Mutali welcomed government’s decision to defer bill 7, stating that it will create an enabling environment for next year’s general elections.

LUNTE MP KAFWAYA SLAMS MID-YEAR TAX HIKE, WARNS UPND ON POLICY INCONSISTENCY

LUNTE MP KAFWAYA SLAMS MID-YEAR TAX HIKE, WARNS UPND ON POLICY INCONSISTENCY

Parliament, 10 July, 2025

Lunte Member of Parliament, Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya, has raised sharp criticism against the United Party for National Development (UPND) government for introducing a mid-year amendment to the withholding tax rate, calling it “bad for business” and a clear sign of policy inconsistency.

Speaking on the floor of the House during the second reading of the Tax Amendment Bill this morning, Hon. Kafwaya states that the government is betraying its own promises of creating a predictable and stable policy environment for business and investment.

“This tax law is being changed in the middle of the year, Madam Speaker,” Kafwaya said. “Businessmen and women have already made financial plans based on a 15% withholding tax. Now the government wants to increase it to 20% that is bad for business. That is bad for investors.”

He emphasized that businesses thrive on consistency, especially in taxation, and warned that unpredictable policy shifts undermine confidence in the Zambian economy.

“Investors who put money into government securities did so knowing the terms. Changing the goalposts mid-year is unfair. It discourages long-term planning and affects not only businesses but the ordinary Zambians who depend on those businesses for jobs and opportunities,” he added.

Kafwaya went further to highlight the broader economic uncertainty that investors are already grappling with fluctuating fuel prices, unpredictable electricity supply, and unstable exchange rates arguing that taxation should at least remain predictable.

“You can’t predict electricity, you can’t predict the cost of kwacha, and now you can’t even predict tax. That’s chaos for any serious investor,” he warned.

The Lunte MP also made reference to the government’s crackdown on informal trading without offering alternative income opportunities, stating, “When UPND chases people off the streets, they must find opportunities elsewhere. Where will that be if businesses can’t plan or grow?”

He ended his submission with a passionate appeal to the Minister of Finance to take responsibility and reflect on the long-term damage such erratic policies may cause politically and economically

“If the Minister is being misled, he must identify those people. Maybe even some of those who were sent to diplomatic positions have better capacity to project a stable budget. UPND must reflect, especially as 2026 approaches,” he said, invoking faith in his closing: “In Jesus’ name.”

UPPZ CALLS FOR URGENT POLITICAL DIALOGUE TO CALM NATIONAL TENSIONS
…… Charles Chanda Urges President Hichilema to Convene Indaba

The United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) party has made an impassioned appeal to President Hakainde Hichilema, urging him to convene an urgent political indaba aimed at addressing growing tensions and fostering national unity.

Speaking in a statement issued to Kumwesu , UPPZ President Charles Chanda stressed the need for immediate dialogue among political stakeholders, warning that the current political climate could become more volatile if leaders fail to engage constructively.

“We are calling on President Hichilema to bring all political players together. This dialogue is not about politics it is about the future of our country,” Chanda said.

Chanda criticized what he described as a “worrisome trend” of viewing opposition figures as enemies, noting that healthy political discourse is essential in any democratic society.

“It is wrong to treat political opponents as enemies. We are all working towards one goal to serve the people of Zambia,” he emphasized.

Referencing the Bible, Chanda recalled how King David sought counsel and found solutions during a time of famine, suggesting that Zambia too can overcome its current challenges through consultation and unity.

“The opposition is not here to fight government, but to offer ideas and constructive criticism. We too can contribute to economic growth and national development,” Chanda stated.

He reiterated that Zambians must come first, regardless of political affiliation, and emphasized that open dialogue is the starting point for a more prosperous and united future.

“We are all Zambians before we are politicians. Dialogue is the bridge to understanding and cooperation. Let us focus on what unites us, not what divides us,” Chanda added.

He concluded by encouraging citizens to remain hopeful and engaged, urging them to demand accountability and dialogue from those in power.

“Let us work together for the common good. A peaceful Zambia is what we all want,” he said.

Registrar Cannot Cancel Title – Court

GUEST ARTICLE: Registrar Cannot Cancel Title – Court

By Dickson Jere

It so happens – sometimes – that the Certificate of Title given to you may contain some errors omissions or mistakes. These may be misspelled names or plot number or indeed wrong plot size from the actual one on the ground. The law – Section 11 of Lands and Deeds Act – allows the Registrar at the Ministry of Lands to correct such mistakes. No big deal. And they have in the past corrected such errors without much ado.

But then, what about canceling the Certificate of Title if it was issued by mistake or error? Or indeed if two people were fighting over the same piece of land? Can the Registrar cancel the Title?

That was question before the Supreme Court in the case of Corpus Legal Practitioners v Mwanandani Holding Limited -SCZ Judgment No. 50 of 2014. A panel of three Judges opined thus:

“The Registrar of Lands and Deeds under section 11 does not empower him to determine disputes which have the effect of determining the rights of the parties to any land or to cancel a certificate of Title duly issued to the registered proprietor of the land to which it relates,” the Court said.

This position has been applied in many subsequent cases that the superior Courts have handled thus far on this subject matter.

The rationale is simple.

One person – Registrar or Commissioner of Lands – cannot sit in his office at the Ministry of Lands and start canceling Titles without the Court. The law envisages that only a Court of Law has powers to cancel Titles following a full hearing where all the contestants are heard.

And Title can only be cancelled on two reasons only. One if the Title was issued by fraud or secondly by mistake. In other words, Certificate of Title is conclusive ownership of land in Zambia and only the Court can take away such right.

“We further take the view that a person alleging fraud or any other impropriety with regard to the issuance of a Certificate of Title, must challenge the same through a Court action and prove the allegations of fraud or other impropriety, as the case maybe,” the Judges said.

So, the Registrar, can only cancel the Title based on Court Order after parties to the dispute have been heard by the Court and an Order given for cancellation. It is a good safeguard to property rights and land ownership.

Lecture Notes;

  1. The government has announce that it will amend the Lands and Deeds Act this year to give powers to the Registrar to cancel Certificate of Titles. This amendment goes against these Court cases that provided a safeguard that only Courts can cancel Certificate of Title. I feel the amendment will bring more problems and disputes. I oppose the amendment but then I am not Member of Parliament yet.
  2. Our civil service is totally compromised and polarized. To give powers to one person – Registrar – to cancel titles will bring more problems. The current procedures where the Courts are only ones with power to cancel Titles have served us well thus far. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA COMMENDS PEACEFUL BY-ELECTIONS, CALLS FOR CONTINUED UNITY AND ISSUE-BASED POLITICS

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA COMMENDS PEACEFUL BY-ELECTIONS, CALLS FOR CONTINUED UNITY AND ISSUE-BASED POLITICS

Friday 11th July 2025

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has once again applauded the peaceful atmosphere in which the recently concluded by-elections were conducted in various parts of the country.

The President commended the competing political parties, law enforcement agencies, and all stakeholders who contributed to this calm and orderly environment. He urged citizens to maintain the same spirit of peace and maturity in areas where campaigns are still ongoing.

The Head of State extended particular gratitude to the UPND campaign teams, who ensured that the ruling party emerged victorious in all contested wards.

He noted that the landslide victories in favour of the UPND reflect the people’s growing confidence in the New Dawn Government’s commitment to improving the lives of all Zambians. He assured the nation that his administration remains steadfast in delivering development and doing what is right for the population.

However, the President expressed concern at some of the campaign rhetoric from some opponents, which he described as rooted in falsehoods, hate speech, and mockery of citizens who deserve serious, issue-based discussions.

“As a country, we must reject divisive messages designed to stir up emotions, and instead focus on ideas and policies that can truly improve our lives,” President Hichilema said.

He called on all political players to embrace the spirit of unity and peaceful coexistence, emphasising that Zambia’s democracy is strengthened when citizens come together in harmony, amidst political competition.

PRESS STATEMENT
COMMISSIONING OF 38 CDF PROJECTS IN NALOLO CONSTITUENCY

We are delighted to announce the commissioning of 38 Community Development Fund (CDF) projects across Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency this week ,17 projects on the East Bank and 21 projects on the West Bank. These projects, collectively valued at K13 million, mark a monumental step forward in governments ongoing efforts to transform rural communities and enhance the quality of life for the people of Nalolo. Just a year ago we were commissioning 22 of similar community projects dotted across the District.

The commissioning activities began during the long holiday of Heroes and Unity Day  a moment that resonates deeply with our national spirit of collective sacrifice, unity, and the pursuit of a better future. This timing is not just symbolic, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to building a legacy of development for future generations.

This milestone is also a strong testament to the visionary leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, whose policy direction and bold decision to exponentially increase the Constituency Development Fund is redefining the landscape of rural development. The CDF is no longer just a fiscal decentralization mechanism, it has become a key driver of equity, dignity, and access.

Communities that, since time immemorial, had no access to safe and running water now do. Learners who previously lacked desks and a conducive learning environment now have restored dignity and better opportunities. Notably, 7,471 desks have been delivered, positively impacting over 27,000 learners across public schools in Nalolo.

I must hasten to state that while we have made commendable progress, we are still a long way from completely eliminating pole and mud structures from government infrastructure. However, the current pace of development is both encouraging and unprecedented.

We further commend the Nalolo Town Council  for their commendable teamwork and dedication in ensuring the successful delivery of these projects. Development is not achieved in isolation; it is a product of collaboration, and the Council’s role in project supervision, procurement, and community engagement has been pivotal. The traditional leadership under the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) is also strongly commended for their active involvement in collaborating with the office of the area Member of Parliament.

Above all, what a time to be alive and to be part of the transformational journey of the people of Nalolo, who graciously honored me with the sacred responsibility of being their Member of Parliament.

What makes South Africa so welcoming to a fugitive lungu  family?

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SOUTH AFRICA?

One South African Journalist wrote…
Haibo Guys #InCaseYouMissedIt The Luxurious Lives of the Lungus: South Africa’s Invisible Diplomatic Visitors A family resides in the lush Blue Valley estate in Midrand, South Africa, and their name continues to inflict anguish in Zambian political corridors, leaving a trail of controversy in its wake.

The Lungus, the immediate family of late Zambian President Edgar Lungu, are not only comfortable; they thrive. And not quietly, but in luxury.

According to sources, the family possesses a staggering 150 luxury automobiles, including a brand-new Range Rover registered to Lungu’s daughter and son-in-law. The question remains, who will foot the bill?

In addition, according to Zambian investigators, most of this opulence derives from cash embezzled during Lungu’s presidency, which is now being closely scrutinised by Zambia’s current administration.

With a corruption investigation tightening its grasp, the family’s unexpected request that Lungu be buried in South Africa (supposedly fulfilling his “dying wish” or whatever that implies) raises more than just questions.

What makes South Africa so welcoming to a fugitive legacy family? Public funds are now being used to secure a body that was never officially certified dead on South African soil. There’s no official documentation. There’s no transparency. Just privilege, shrouded in diplomatic quiet.

Given that the Lungus perform in one of Gauteng’s most prestigious neighborhoods, Zambians are understandably dealing with the consequences.

At the same time, South Africans are left questioning “Where did we go wrong?” and how this situation has become an issue for us.

Social media users raise R38,000 to gift cows to General Mkhwanazi for anti-corruption stand

In a powerful show of support, South Africans have raised over R38,000 on social media to buy two cows for KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The donation drive, started by X user Chris Excel, comes days after Mkhwanazi publicly exposed high-level corruption and political interference within the South African Police Service, sparking national debate and calls for accountability.

The campaign, launched on 6 July, quickly surpassed its R35,000 target, with plans to source the cows from a local black farmer and use a black-owned business for delivery emphasising community empowerment.

Supporters say the gesture is a thank you for Mkhwanazi’s bravery in speaking out, with many calling him “Lord Mkhwanazi” for his bold stand against corruption.

COMMUTERS REJECT K1 BUS FARE REDUCTION AS INADEQUATE

COMMUTERS DISAPPOINTED WITH MINIMAL BUS FARE REDUCTION

The Commuters Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) has expressed disappointment with the recently announced adjustments to bus fares.

On Wednesday, the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) announced a K1 reduction for local routes, while fares for intercity travel remain unchanged.

This follows three consecutive reductions in fuel pump prices by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB).

Speaking in an interview with RCV News, CRAZ President Aaron Kamuti expressed disappointment over the minimal fare adjustment, arguing that a K1 decrease offers no real relief to commuters amid the country’s rising cost of living.

Mr. Kamuti also criticized RTSA for excluding CRAZ from the fare adjustment consultations, claiming the agency only engaged bus operators in the decision-making process.

“It is unfortunate that RATSA had to go ahead and announce the fares minus getting a proposal from CRAZ, we anticipated a huge reduction”, said Mr. Kamuti.

He further questioned why intercity fares were left unchanged despite the consistent drop in fuel prices, describing the move as a “mockery” to the public.

Mr. Kamuti has since labelled the process as both illegal and unacceptable, likening it to a cartel. He stressed that the minor fare cut will have no meaningful benefit for commuters.

“$3,000 Income Per Person?” Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti Scoffs At Claims That Zimbabwe Is Now The 5th Largest Economy

“They’re Lying To You” – Tendai Biti Scoffs At Zimbabwe’s $3,000 Income Claim After GDP Rebase
Zimbabwe has declared itself the fifth-largest economy in Southern Africa, boasting a rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of US$44.4 billion and a projected per capita income of US$3,000 (approximately R55,000) by 2025. But former Finance Minister Tendai Biti has ridiculed the claim, calling it a “fraudulent political ritual” disconnected from the painful realities of ordinary Zimbabweans. The outspoken politician has accused the government of peddling “fiction” in a bid to prop up the illusion of economic progress.

‘A fraudulent political ritual done outside science’
The GDP revision, which saw Zimbabwe’s economy leap from US$35.2 billion to US$44.4 billion, has been touted as an overdue adjustment that now includes informal sector activities and businesses previously uncounted in economic records. However, Biti has rejected the figures outright, taking to social media to express his outrage.

“It is clear as a pike staff that the present rebasing of Zim economy to $44.3 b is a fraudulent political ritual done outside science & data,” he posted on X on 10 July 2025.

“A shameful self-serving ego trip done to justify the myth & fiction that Zim is on course to achieve upper middle-income status by 2030.”

Biti said the claims of Zimbabwe’s Gross National Income (GNI) reaching US$2,893 and heading for US$3,000 per capita were not only misleading but deeply insulting.

“To millions of suffering Zimbabweans trapped in deep poverty, hunger, unemployment, hyperinflation & drug-free hospitals, to suggest that their lot has improved in the last 5 years is a gross insult,” he wrote.

He also questioned the economic logic of discovering US$1.5 billion in so-called “unaccounted pockets” of the economy, branding it “fantasy”.

“To suggest that wages & dividends have doubled in the last 5 years is pure fiction,” Biti said.

“This economy is on the throes, weighed down by massive corruption, incompetence & indifference.”

Government defends rebased GDP figures

In response to the criticism, Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has vigorously defended the updated figures, stating that the rebasing process followed international best practice and gives a more accurate picture of Zimbabwe’s real economy.

“There is a part of the economy that was not accounted for; this now captures that segment, which has been growing silently,” Ncube said during a post-Cabinet press briefing.

“We still believe that there is a lot that was left out because of the informality aspect, so we need to keep refining our methodology.”

The rebasing was based on the 2023 Economic Census conducted by Zimstat, which took into account informal traders, small-scale manufacturers, and emerging businesses that had previously gone untracked.

Ncube insisted that the new figures would strengthen Zimbabwe’s economic credibility and help address the country’s liquidity challenges.

“Given this larger GDP base, it creates more opportunity and capacity to start servicing our external debt,” he said.

He further clarified that the figures would not alter immediate expenditure commitments but could help grow the tax base.

“In terms of expenditure, we are not going to change that at all because we have already committed to certain projects,” he said.

“But what we need to figure out is how to grow tax revenues from this extra GDP.”

Biti: ‘The economy has shrunk, not grown’
Biti, however, is not convinced. He argued that Zimbabwe’s economic fundamentals have worsened over the past five years, citing power shortages, droughts, currency volatility, and factory closures as evidence.

“The economy has structurally shrunk in the last 5 years. There has been massive de-industrialisation, with companies shutting shop or relocating,” he said.

“Exchange rate mismanagement, power shortages, corruption & successive droughts have been permanent headwinds.”

Biti claims that the government is using the rebasing to create a false sense of recovery while the majority of Zimbabweans continue to suffer.

“This is a desperate mafia regime without limits, without elasticity,” he added.

The government, on the other hand, maintains that this is part of a broader journey to formalise the economy, modernise data systems, and move toward digital integration.

“We are bringing new systems for further digitalisation of the economy so that we can bring in all the players in the formal sector,” said Ncube.

He also acknowledged ongoing inequality but said the government was addressing it through progressive taxation and social protection.

“The rich pay more than the poorer income class,” Ncube said. “We also use different ways, such as social protection programmes, to uplift those who are at the bottom of the pyramid.”

Zimbabwe’s revised economic ranking places it behind South Africa (US$400 billion), Angola (US$115 billion), Tanzania (US$80 billion), and the Democratic Republic of Congo (US$71 billion) according to 2024 IMF estimates.

But critics like Biti say these figures do not reflect reality on the ground — a reality still marked by cash shortages, informal employment, and struggling hospitals.

COPPER QUEENS GOING ALL OUT AGAINST DR CONGO -Copper Queens defender Lushomo Mweemba

COPPER QUEENS GOING ALL OUT AGAINST DR CONGO -Copper Queens defender Lushomo Mweemba

Copper Queens defender Lushomo Mweemba says Zambia will not take DR Congo lightly when the two sides meet in their final Group A match of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024.

Zambia go into the clash with four points, having drawn 2-2 with hosts Morocco in the opener before edging Senegal 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

A victory over DR Congo would secure a place in the quarterfinals, potentially as group winners depending on the result of the Morocco versus Senegal encounter.

Despite DR Congo being eliminated after back-to-back defeats to Senegal and Morocco, Mweemba insists the Copper Queens are not letting their guard down.

“Now we face DR Congo, a team that has not had the best run so far. But we are not taking them lightly. This is still WAFCON, and we know they will be coming out to prove a point,” Mweemba told journalists at the pre-match press conference in Rabat.

“Just because they have been eliminated does not mean they won’t fight. We are preparing for a competitive match, and our mindset remains the same that we are here to win.”

Reflecting on the journey so far, Mweemba said the tournament opener served as a wake-up call, which the team responded to with determination.

“We started this tournament with a tough draw against the hosts Morocco, and that result really challenged us to step up,” Mweemba said.

“I think as a team, we responded very well in our second game against Senegal. It was a high-pressure match, but we fought hard and came out with a 3-2 win. That performance gave us confidence, but also reminded us that every game demands full focus.”

While DR Congo have struggled defensively, Mweemba said Zambia will not get carried away, and are aiming for a balance between attack and defensive stability.

“Yes, they have conceded four goals in each of their previous matches, and naturally, we would love to capitalize on that and score more. But at the same time, we must remain disciplined at the back. Clean sheets are just as important to us. We can’t afford to concede carelessly,” she said.

With qualification in sight, Mweemba says the team is fully focused on finishing the group stage on a high and maintaining momentum.

“I can’t stand here and predict the number of goals we will score, but what I can say is that we are going all out. We have high standards for ourselves and we are determined to finish strong. We want to keep building momentum and continue representing Zambia with pride,” Mweemba said.

Zambia face DR Congo on Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 21h00CAT at the El Bachir stadium in Mohammedia, hoping to seal their place in the knockout stages of WAFCON 2024.

Zanu-PF denies rift between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga

ZANU PF has categorically dismissed rumours of a rift between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, reaffirming the strong bond and unity that have defined their decades-long partnership.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa, emphasised that no political force or gossip will come between the two leaders, whose collaboration remains central to Zimbabwe’s development agenda.

“President Mnangagwa and Vice President Chiwenga have faced and overcome some of the most formidable threats to this nation, standing side by side,” said Mutsvangwa. “Their relationship is unshakeable, built on over five decades of shared experience, forged in the crucible of national liberation and state-building.”

Highlighting the achievements under the current Second Republic, Mutsvangwa pointed to significant strides in agriculture, mining, and industry. He celebrated the historic milestone of Zimbabwe’s 2025 tobacco output surpassing 300 million kilograms—the highest ever recorded—driven largely by small and medium-scale farmers who are now earning close to a billion dollars annually, a testament to President Mnangagwa’s economic reforms.

Gold production has also risen markedly, particularly among small-scale miners, reflecting the reformist policies championed by the current administration. Mutsvangwa praised the introduction of the gold-backed Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, describing it as a bold initiative that has restored monetary stability and helped “exorcise the ghost of past hyperinflation.”

On the industrial front, the Manhize Dinson Iron and Steel project was highlighted as a symbol of Zimbabwe’s resilience and potential, alongside government programmes such as Pfumvudza/Intwasa, wheat self-sufficiency efforts, and a thriving construction sector.

Drawing from his personal experience, Mutsvangwa noted, “I have witnessed their resilience and shared vision over the years, dismissing any claims of discord as baseless. They have been steeled by the toughest tests of character. In the trenches, a comrade remains your keeper—there is no room for petty quarrels when facing a common enemy. The stakes are far too high.”

The statement seeks to quash speculation surrounding the dynamics at the highest levels of ZANU PF as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections, projecting a message of cohesion and steady leadership committed to Zimbabwe’s progress.

61-Year-Old Granny Dumps 72-Year-Old Husband for Ben-10 Lover

61-Year-Old Granny Dumps 72-Year-Old Husband for Ben-10 Lover

A 61-year-old grandmother from Makoni has sent shockwaves through her village after allegedly abandoning her husband of many years for a much younger lover.

Caroline Chihwayi, of Mukuwapasi Village, is said to have left her 72-year-old husband, Lancelot Mutenda, to be with Justin Madziwa—a man young enough to be her son.

Mutenda took the matter to Chief Makoni’s community court last week, accusing Justin of wrecking his marriage. However, both Chihwayi and Justin failed to attend the hearing.

Caught in the Act—Twice
According to H-Metro, in a testimony before the court, Mutenda recounted how he first caught the pair being intimate in 2020. He seized Justin’s clothes as evidence and reported the matter to Headman Mukuwapasi’s community court.

“Justin, accompanied by his relatives, approached me for an out-of-court settlement. He offered a cock as an apology, but my relatives deemed it a mockery, as a cock symbolises power and authority in our culture,” Mutenda said.

After the headman’s court ruled that Justin’s actions were disrespectful, he was ordered to pay two beasts in compensation. Instead, Justin fled the village without honouring the judgment.

Return from Funeral Ends in Heartbreak
Mutenda shared that while returning from a funeral in Bulawayo, he found his homestead in disarray and his wife missing.

“Later, I was informed that my wife was with Justin at the shops. When I arrived, they had already left. I tracked them to Justin’s homestead around 1am, where I overheard them talking and then becoming intimate,” he said.

Mutenda admitted to throwing a brick onto the roof to disturb them. As he confronted Justin, the younger man tried to call for help, but no one responded.

“I reported the incident to the police, who advised me to seek recourse through the community courts. However, Justin and my wife filed a counter report, alleging that I assaulted them,” he said.

Family Divided Over Scandal
Mutenda told the court that the ordeal has divided his family.

“My three married daughters are siding with their mother, while my son supports me, though from a distance,” he lamented.

He explained he had previously forgiven Chihwayi because he still loved her and hoped they could raise their grandchildren together.

“I gave her a divorce token three times in the absence of her relatives because at that time I still loved her. I assumed she might change,” he said.

Court Ruling and Advice
After hearing the case, the community court found Justin guilty of adultery, fining him three beasts and three goats for failing to attend proceedings.

The court also advised Mutenda to formally divorce Chihwayi and end the protracted saga.

Zimbabwean Male MPs Go Viral Discussing Women’s Attitudes, Claim They Are Now Disrespectful & Dismissive (WATCH)

Zimbabwean MPs Go Viral After Claiming Women Are Now Dismissive And Disrespectful

Several male Members of Parliament in Zimbabwe have sparked widespread outrage and debate after claiming that women have become increasingly “dismissive and disrespectful” towards men. Speaking during a session of Parliament on 9 July 2025, the MPs lamented what they described as a breakdown in traditional gender roles and accused modern women of contributing to emotional and psychological distress among men.

“We now see actually winning an argument with your wife as the greatest achievement,” said Hon. Joseph Tshuma. “Can you imagine how much we are suffering as men?”

“The trauma we are going through as men”
In a lengthy and impassioned speech, Hon. Tshuma shared several anecdotes to support his claims, including a story about a woman who broke up with her boyfriend to “explore her feelings” only to return later when she faced financial hardship—by then, the man had moved on.

“She says to the man, ‘It was not a break-up, it was just a break, I want to come back.’ But the man had found someone who knew what she wanted,” said Tshuma. “This is the trauma that we are going through as men.”

He added:

“Most of the men here are not vocal people. The words that come out of our partners’ mouths would definitely drive even the angel himself to come down and behave like a devil.”

Tshuma went further, blaming domestic violence on emotional provocation from women.

“This is exactly what is causing domestic violence,” he said. “When you come home and your wife says, ‘Why are you quiet? Are you thinking of your girlfriend?’ but if you speak, she says, ‘Why are you talking too much?’ What should we do?”

The MP suggested that returning to traditional values—where women are “obedient” and men are recognised as heads of households—would end domestic conflict.

“Our culture created peace. But modern laws and equality movements have destroyed it,” he added. “Zve Beijing zvamakazoita ndozvakakanganisa zvinhu zvakawanda” (That thing from Beijing messed up many things).

He ended with a biblical reference:

“Women, submit yourselves unto your husbands. If all these women obeyed their husbands, I swear, my head can be put on the block—there would be no domestic violence.”

“That is not factual,” says Dr Khupe
Former Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Thokozani Khupe quickly rose on a point of order, challenging Tshuma’s claims.

“It is not true and it is not factual that men are suffering more than women,” she stated firmly. “Statistically, women are suffering more. I respect the Honourable Member’s contribution, but we need to put the record straight.”

The Temporary Speaker intervened to calm the tensions:

“Order! We all have the right to debate, and every view, every opinion is valid in this House.”

“We’ve lost our moral compass,” argues Hon. Malinganiso
Hon. Malinganiso also spoke, arguing that Zimbabwe’s challenges stemmed from a loss of cultural and moral values.

“With globalisation came westernisation,” he said. “We’ve forgotten who we are. Our values, our moral compass, are gone.”

He praised traditional upbringing systems such as Nhanga (girls’ education spaces) and Gota (boys’ mentoring) and called for a return to community-led moral education.

“We must stop blaming each other and start teaching mutual respect again.”

Online backlash explodes
Despite applause in Parliament, the statements triggered a storm of criticism online. Many X users accused the male MPs of being out of touch and deflecting from pressing national issues.

@mawarirej wrote:

“National assets are being looted by Tagwirei… yet you have an MP talking about private relations in his house? We deserve leaders who focus on national issues, not bedroom challenges.”

@buhle_matsha warned:

“If we aren’t careful, women will go back to needing men’s permission to open bank accounts. This isn’t just a feminist issue—it affects us all.”

@BloggoJones fumed:

“This type of masculinity is why we’re in trouble. You should be discussing proper things in Parliament, not acting like a child because you don’t know how to talk to women.”

Others pointed to Zimbabwe’s deepening economic crisis, suggesting the debate was a distraction:

@wadzimungoshi posted:

“A country with 95% unemployment, $15 billion still unaccounted for, and food poverty at 43%—yet this is what MPs choose to discuss?”

@lostucrubibi added:

“In a country where nothing works, this is what he chooses to discuss. Not the healthcare system. Not corruption. This… He isn’t disrespected enough, I’m afraid.”

@tapiwa_chiriga listed benefits MPs receive:

“In case you’ve forgotten: these people get new cars, fuel, loans they’ll never repay, hotel accommodation, salaries, and more. And this is how they spend their time?”

And @TriumphSensei said:

“They’re talking about women having voices and choices like it’s the end of the world. Poverty rate is above 80%, and this is the priority?”

While the remarks were welcomed by some who feel men’s issues are often sidelined, others accused the MPs of promoting patriarchal views that could further endanger women and girls in an already tense domestic environment.

“This is not just tone-deaf—it’s dangerous,” posted @WairimuW. “These tantrums often lead to violence.”

Despite the backlash, the debate has sparked a wider national conversation about gender, culture, and the role of Parliament in setting the tone for social discourse.

Federal court has blocked Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship

A federal court in New Hampshire today blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship and certified a nationwide class that protects the citizenship rights of all children born on U.S. soil.

Judge Joseph LaPlante made the announcement Thursday, July 10, following a hearing and added that a written order will follow, according to the Associated Press. The judge’s order will also include a seven-day stay to allow for appeal.

The ruling stems from a nationwide class-action lawsuit filed June 27, immediately after a Supreme Court ruling that potentially opened the door for partial enforcement of the executive order.

The American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of New Hampshire, ACLU of Maine, ACLU of Massachusetts, Legal Defense Fund, Asian Law Caucus, and Democracy Defenders Fund brought the challenge on behalf of a proposed class of babies subject to the executive order. It seeks to protect all impacted families in the country in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Trump v. CASA, which directed courts to consider narrowing nationwide protection that had been provided in the first round of challenges to the executive order attacking birthright citizenship.

The groups were in court today successfully arguing for a preliminary injunction and nationwide class certification. The ruling was made from the bench.

In granting the request, the court provided for a 7-day delay so that the government — which argued to the Supreme Court that a nationwide class was the appropriate way to seek nationwide protection in the birthright cases — could nevertheless try to get the First Circuit Court of Appeals to stay the relief, if it decides to pursue that option. Even with a 7-day delay, the ruling will go into effect well before July 27, when partial implementation of the unconstitutional order might otherwise have begun.

“This ruling is a huge victory and will help protect the citizenship of all children born in the United States, as the Constitution intended,” said Cody Wofsy, deputy director of the ACLU’s Immigrant’s Rights Project, who argued the case. “We are fighting to ensure President Trump doesn’t trample on the citizenship rights of one single child.”

“This morning, the federal court in New Hampshire agreed once again that President Trump’s executive order to restrict birthright citizenship is a blatant violation of the U.S. Constitution. The executive order, which is now temporarily blocked nationwide in this class action lawsuit and blocked regionally in our January lawsuit, stands in flagrant opposition to our constitutional rights, values, and history. Our Constitution ensures that no politician can decide who among those born in this country is worthy of citizenship — a principle that continues to be ardently reinforced in court across the country and here in the Granite State,” said Devon Chaffee, executive director of the ACLU of New Hampshire.

“Today’s decision is a powerful affirmation of the 14th Amendment and the enduring principle that citizenship in the United States is a right by birth, not a privilege granted by politics. By granting nationwide class certification and blocking the executive order from taking effect, the court has sent a clear message: all children born on U.S. soil are entitled to the full rights and protections of citizenship. This is a critical victory for families across the country, and we will continue to defend the constitutional promise of equal protection under the law,” said Morenike Fajana, senior counsel of the Legal Defense Fund.

“Since the Supreme Court’s decision, parents have lived in fear and uncertainty, wondering whether they should give birth in a different state, whether their newborns would be subject to deportation, and what kind of future awaits their children,” said Aarti Kohli, executive director of Asian Law Caucus.

“This court’s injunction protecting birthright citizenship for all affected children is a major victory for families across this country and for all Americans. This ruling reaffirms that constitutional rights cannot be stripped away by executive decree.”

“Today’s decision is a victory for our plaintiffs, and millions of families across this country, who deserve clarity, and stability,” said Tianna Mays, legal director for Democracy Defenders Fund. “The fight to uphold the guarantee of birthright citizenship is far from over and we will continue to advocate to ensure we keep that promise.”

“For the second time, this court has affirmed the constitutional commitment that anyone born in the United States is a citizen, regardless of their parents’ background. The U.S. has always been a nation of immigrants, and we are thrilled to be moving forward with this critically important case at a time when immigrant families across the country face increasing hostility, threats, and harm,” said Molly Curren Rowles, executive director of the ACLU of Maine.

ICE stormed a marijuana farm to arrest immigrants in California and something strange happened

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted raids on two Glass House Farms facilities.

One of the raids took place in Camarillo (Ventura County) and another in Carpinteria (Santa Barbara County), California.

A company identified as Glass House Brands Inc. is one of the state’s largest licensed cannabis producers and that was the main target for ICE agents.

The raids were part of a broader immigration enforcement operation, with federal agents executing warrants targeting illegal workers, including undocumented minors.

ICE agents, supported by National Guard troops, detained 12-15 workers at the Camarillo facility.

But the operation sparked protests, with federal agents deploying tear gas, smoke bombs, and rubber bullets to control crowds.

One protester reportedly fired a handgun at ICE agents, prompting a search warrant and a $50,000 reward for information. At least three people were hospitalized, though it’s unclear if they were workers or protesters.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported finding 10 undocumented minors, eight of whom were unaccompanied, at the Camarillo facility, raising concerns about child labor violations.

This has led to investigations into Glass House Farms, which has faced prior lawsuits for labor violations.

Video of the strange moment protester brandished a gun on ICE agents during raid on Marijuana farm in California

There’s tension in California now as video emerged of an anti-ICE protester allegedly pulling a firearm on federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The incident happened during a confrontation in California, specifically at a cannabis farm.

The incident occurred amid heightened tensions during an immigration enforcement operation, described as a “chaotic scene.”

According to sources, the protester brandished a gun, escalating an already volatile standoff, but was quickly disarmed and detained by ICE agents.

No injuries were reported, and the suspect’s identity has not been released, with an investigation ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the escalation.

The incident has fueled debates over immigration enforcement tactics and protest responses, with some sources alleging political motivations behind the unrest.
