What the First American Pope Has in Common With Donald Trump – And Where He Differs

What the First American Pope Has in Common With Donald Trump – And Where He Differs

For the first time in history, an American has become Pope. On 8 May 2025, Cardinal Robert Prevost from Chicago was elected as the new head of the Catholic Church and will be known as Pope Leo XIV.

At 69, Pope Leo brings a strong global background to the role. He spent years doing missionary work in South America and served as a bishop in Peru, where he gained respect for his leadership. Most recently, he ran a key Vatican office responsible for appointing bishops around the world.

Many expect him to continue the legacy of Pope Francis, particularly in pushing for reforms within the Church.

But his rise has already sparked comparisons; some drawing parallels between him and another powerful American figure: Donald Trump.

His Stance on LGBTQ+ Issues
While Pope Francis was known for a more inclusive tone toward the LGBTQ+ community, Pope Leo appears to have taken a more traditional route in the past.

Back in 2012, as reported by The New York Times, he criticised how pop culture was normalising values that, in his view, went against the Gospel. He specifically mentioned the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.”

His critics say this raises questions about whether he will continue Francis’s more open approach to LGBTQ+ issues.

Immigration: A Different View from Trump
Despite comparisons to Trump, Pope Leo differs sharply with the former U.S. president when it comes to immigration.

His years in Peru saw him work closely with vulnerable communities, especially Venezuelan immigrants, and he earned praise for his compassion and hands-on support. Those who know him say he showed deep empathy and was known for standing with the poor and displaced.

THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has set May 13, 2025 as a date it will rule on whether Chienge member of parliament, Given Katuta has a case to answer or not in a matter she is accused of calling a Photo Journalist, son of a dog and spat saliva on him.

It is reported that her actions were towards journalist Henry Chunza were initiated after he capture picture of her when she was suspended from the august house for misconduct.

When the matter came up for ruling on case to answer this morning, it was adjourned by another magistrate, Allan Kangwa on grounds that the trial court was indisposed.

In this matter, Katuta, 54, of Chamba valley in Lusaka pleaded not guilty to one count of threatening violence contrary to section 90 (a) chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.

Katuta is alleged to have threatened violence and caused injury to Times of Zambia photojournalist while on duty at the Parliament premises on July 21, 2023, around 09:00 hours.

However, Katuta denied threatening violence or causing injury to the victim.

Earlier, Chunza, the victim in this matter testified before principal resident magistrate Idah Phiri that Katuta called him a dog and spat on him when he was executing his duties at parliament grounds.

Chunza said he wanted to take photos of the MP after the Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti suspended her from the National Assembly for seven days following a point of order raised by Katombola UPND member of parliament Clement Andeleki against her for allegedly disrespecting the august house and speaker of the National Assembly.

The incident attracted Journalists from various media organisations to record and take photos of her.

Chunza said he was already outside targeting the law maker to take a walk of shame outside the chambers.

He said the law maker while pointing a finger at him, showered him insults as he was taking pictures.

“As we entered parliament, there was a time when the speaker of the National assembly, told the member of Parliament for Chiengi to leave the Chambers for misconduct, as she was leaving the Chambers I took the stairs as she was coming out from the Chambers, since I was assigned to get pictures, as she was coming out I started getting pictures of her, when she saw me getting pictures she pointed her finger at me while shouting, “who are you, and why are you getting pictures of me? Who has sent you to come and get pictures of me,” he said.

He said the accused person started shouting in her mother tongue calling him son of a dog.

“She called me son of a dog, and told me to remove the pictures from the camera. At that time my colleague, Mr. Chusa Sichone a reporter was present,” he said.

Chunza further testified that after a while, he saw six people approaching him together with the accused trying to grab the camera from him.

“Ms Katuta started chasing me, whilst on top on the stairs, I ran down and she spat saliva on me and insulted me. She continued following me, harassing me wanting to touch me and get a camera from me. I started running away she continued following and shouting wanting to get the camera from me so that she can delete the pictures. A group of people followed me, i couldn’t remember anyone because I was traumatised, it was at this point when it caught the attention of Parliament police,” he said.

He said unknown people followed him in the room where he was with the officer and forced him to delete the pictures of which he did.

“After the whole incident, we went back to the office together with my colleague and later reported the matter to the police,” he said.

USA HAS EXPOSED HH’S BLUFF – KALABA
… they have no confidence in him to fight corruption

By Chinoyi Chipulu

Citizens’ First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba says the Americans have exposed President Hakainde Hichilema’s bluff that he is an all talk and no action person on the fight against corruption.

And Kalaba said the expose’ from the Americans revealed that President Hichilema was no longer their ‘blue eyed boy’, a sad development for Zambia.

Meanwhile, chief government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said he would be waiting to get a collective position of Cabinet over the matter next week.

Yesterday, the United States government announced a cut of US $50 million equivalent to K1.4 billion in annual aid to Zambia intended for medications and medical supplies, citing rampant theft of donor-funded drugs and government’s failure to take decisive corrective action.

U.S. ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales expressed disappointment over government’s inability to prevent the theft of essential medicines meant to be distributed free of charge to Zambians, which were discovered in the late 2021.

In an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Kalaba said President Hichilema must take responsibility for the aid withdrawal, as the Americans had no…

SOCIALIST PARTY CONDEMNS RAMPANT UPND CORRUPTION IN HEALTH SECTOR

SOCIALIST PARTY CONDEMNS RAMPANT UPND CORRUPTION IN HEALTH SECTOR

Lusaka… Friday May 9, 2025 – Socialist Party (SP) President Dr. Fred M’membe, has expressed strong condemnation over continued misrule and rampant corruption under the UPND-led government, stating that the misconduct is now endangering the lives of Zambians.

In a statement delivered on behalf of his party, Dr. M’membe voiced alarm following the recent decision by the United States government to withdraw K1.4 billion in annual aid to Zambia’s Ministry of Health.

According to U.S. Ambassador Michael Gonzales, the withdra

wal stems from persistent theft and mismanagement of medical supplies.

Dr. M’membe referred to the development as a “devastating blow” to the nation’s public health system, warning that it would most severely impact the country’s poor, sick, and voiceless citizens.

He contended that the situation reflected more than mere incompetence, condemning the UPND government for engaging in what he termed “systematic plunder” of critical national resources.

He stated that life-saving medicines were being looted and essential supplies meant for clinics were disappearing, even as President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration continued to make additional fake promises.

Dr. M’membe criticized the UPND leadership for promoting what he saw as a disconnect between rhetoric and reality, accusing them of operating with “rot and impunity.”

He further emphasized that the current state of affairs was a betrayal of the ideals Zambia had fought for, and called on citizens to remain vigilant.

Dr. M’membe reaffirmed the Socialist Party’s commitment to fighting for integrity in governance, protection of public resources, and leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. M’membe encouraged Zambians to organize for a new, honest, and people-centered government, reiterating his belief that “a better Zambia is possible.”

US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales, shed tears, pausing to wipe them out when announcing the K1.4 billion annual aid cut for medicines and medical supplies to Zambia due to government’s failure to respond to country-wide systematic theft of these products.

“I have cried over this because it’s not the senior government officials who will be affected. It’s the poor people in rural areas,” said Ambassador Gonzales.

GOVERNMENT WINNING LOCUST FIGHT IN WESTERN PROVINCE

GOVERNMENT WINNING LOCUST FIGHT IN WESTERN PROVINCE

Western Province Permanent Secretary Mr. Simomo Akapelwa says government has made significant progress in tackling the red locust infestation that recently threatened several districts in the province.

Speaking during a live interview on Oblate Radio Liseli this morning, Mr. Akapelwa assured the public that both aerial and ground spraying interventions have been effective in reducing locust populations in affected areas.

“The situation is under control, thanks to the swift and coordinated response by government through the Ministry of Agriculture and cooperating partners,” said Mr. Akapelwa.

He revealed that a total of 8,940 hectares have been aerially sprayed using both malathion and metarhizium biopesticides, while ground operations have covered an additional 444 hectares.

Districts such as Limulunga, Sioma, Sikongo, and Nalolo were among the hardest hit, prompting emergency spraying in areas like Ushaa, Nangili, Kaanja, Sinjembela, and Salala Plain.

Accompanied by Provincial Agricultural Coordinator (PACO) Mr. Rodwell Muntanga, the Permanent Secretary also announced an upcoming public education campaign to equip community members with the knowledge to identify and report red locust sightings.

“This proactive step will enhance early detection and reporting, allowing us to respond more swiftly in the future,” Mr. Akapelwa added.

CTPD Warns U.S. AfDB Exit Could Derail Zambia’s Development Ambitions

CTPD Warns U.S. AfDB Exit Could Derail Zambia’s Development Ambitions

The Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has sounded the alarm over the United States’ impending withdrawal of USD 555 million in funding from the African Development Bank’s concessional window, warning that the move could significantly jeopardize Zambia’s development trajectory.

Speaking in a statement issued today, CTPD Trade and Investment Researcher Barnabas Mwale expressed deep concern, stressing that Zambia risks losing vital financing for projects that are crucial to its economic transformation under the 8th National Development Plan and Vision 2030.

“The U.S. has historically been one of the largest non-regional contributors to the AfDB,” Mwale said. “Its potential pullout raises uncertainty over the continuity of critical development projects across Africa, Zambia included.”

Mwale noted that the African Development Bank currently has 24 active projects in Zambia valued at more than USD 872 million, with a focus on transport infrastructure, water and sanitation, agriculture, power, and social services. He cautioned that any disruption in funding could have a direct impact on rural connectivity, electrification, irrigation, and access to clean water key pillars of Zambia’s development agenda.

“We are urging the Zambian government to reassess its development financing strategies,” Mwale added. “This includes diversifying sources of funding and strengthening domestic resource mobilization to cushion against such international shocks.”

CTPD further backed AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina’s call for African nations to become more self-reliant. Mwale emphasized that Zambia must cut inefficiencies in public spending and leverage opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by supporting local manufacturing and boosting exports.

“This is a wake-up call for the continent. Zambia must prepare for a future where donor reliance is no longer sustainable,” he said.

As the U.S. recalibrates its international development commitments, the implications for Zambia’s infrastructure, agriculture, and energy sectors remain uncertain a gap the country must now urgently work to bridge.

TI-Z Condemns  Arrest of Cleaning Association President Over Airport Procurement Allegations

TI-Z Condemns “Brutal” Arrest of Cleaning Association President Over Airport Procurement Allegations

Transparency International Zambia (TI-Z) has strongly condemned the arrest and continued detention of Cleaning Association of Zambia President, Lawrence Makumbi, describing it as a worrying attack on whistleblower rights and freedom of expression.

Makumbi was arrested on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, and remains in custody at Ridgeway Police Station in Lusaka, facing two counts of criminal libel related to his public remarks about alleged procurement irregularities at Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL).

The allegations stem from Makumbi’s criticism of a controversial K22 million cleaning contract awarded to Caribian Investment Limited a company he claims lacks credible experience in the sector. These comments were made in his capacity as head of an industry association, sparking public debate and media interest, including a segment on Hot FM’s Red Hot Breakfast Show.

In a statement issued Thursday, TI-Z Executive Director Maurice Nyambe raised alarms over the criminalization of public interest disclosures, noting that Makumbi was denied police bond due to the alleged unavailability of the officer in charge until May 9 well beyond the 24-hour legal window for bond or court appearance.

“This raises serious concerns about the use of criminal charges to respond to matters that could otherwise be addressed through open and meaningful dialogue or civil recourse,” Nyambe stated

He added that the developments “undermine constitutional protections against arbitrary detention” and send a chilling message to whistleblowers and civil society actors.

“While TI-Z does not take a position on the truthfulness or legality of Mr. Makumbi’s statements, we are deeply concerned about the broader implications this case has for whistleblower protection and the use of criminal law to suppress public interest discourse,” Nyambe emphasized.

The organization called on the Zambia Police Service to uphold due process and ensure Makumbi’s constitutional rights are not violated.
TI-Z also urged the government to revise the Public Interest Disclosure (Protection of Whistleblowers) Act No. 4 of 2010 to better protect those who expose suspected wrongdoing.

“The escalation from civil to criminal proceedings in this context risks setting a dangerous precedent for freedom of expression and anti-corruption efforts in Zambia,” Nyambe warned.

The Auditor General’s 2023 Report on Parastatals had flagged multiple irregularities at ZACL, strengthening calls for an independent probe into the procurement process.

As public pressure mounts, TI-Z reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for a governance culture in which civil society, media, and professional bodies can raise concerns without fear of harassment or intimidation.

Trump Administration in Talks with Rwanda to Accept U.S. Deportees

The Trump administration is in active talks with Rwanda to accept deportees from the U.S., including individuals from Africa and other countries. The agreement is still being negotiated, with financial terms and other key details expected to be discussed in the coming weeks.U.S. and Rwandan officials have confirmed the ongoing negotiations, according to CBS News. Rwanda could soon begin accepting migrants who are not its own nationals, as part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to send deportees to third countries. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has supported this approach, saying the further deportees are sent,

Rwanda’s experience with past deportation deals makes it a likely partner. A Rwandan official confirmed that the country had already accepted an Iraqi national deported by the U.S. Rwanda also previously made a similar agreement with the U.K., though it was later canceled by Britain’s new leadership.

The U.S. has made similar arrangements with other countries, including El Salvador, Mexico, and Panama. These countries have agreed to take deportees who are not their own citizens, often in exchange for financial compensation or other support.

The Rwanda talks come as the U.S. continues to work on a peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rubio also praised Trump’s envoy to Africa, Massad Boulos, for his role in the region, including peace talks and economic efforts.

Kariba Dam Water Levels Show Slight Improvement, Offering Limited Relief for Power Generation

Kariba Dam Water Levels Show Slight Improvement, Offering Limited Relief for Power Generation

The Zambezi River Authority has reported a modest rise in the Kariba Dam’s usable water levels, offering a limited but welcome boost to hydropower generation capacity amid ongoing regional electricity supply challenges.

According to the Authority’s Daily Hydrological Bulletin released on May 8, 2025, the lake level has reached 477.73 meters above sea level, translating to 10,043 million cubic meters (MCM) of usable water—15.50% of the dam’s full live storage. This marks an increase from the same time in 2024 when storage was at 8,580 MCM (13.24%).

While the rise provides temporary relief, the figures remain below historical averages. The Authority’s revised outflow plan for May sets the turbine discharge rate at 978 cubic meters per second, carefully aligned with the 2025 annual water allocation of 27 billion cubic meters agreed upon by ZESCO (Zambia) and ZESA (Zimbabwe).

This cautious approach is intended to maintain minimal power generation while preserving reservoir levels.

Projections show that if the current outflow plan is followed, the lake level may peak at around 479.23 meters by mid-July equivalent to only 26% live storage. The forecasted closing level for 2025 is even more sobering: 476.74 meters, or just 8.57% usable capacity. Such levels suggest continued strain on Kariba’s power generation capability well into the next year.

RESPONSE TO STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER OF HEALTH ON THEFT OF MEDICINES AND U.S. AID CUT

RESPONSE TO STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER OF HEALTH ON THEFT OF MEDICINES AND U.S. AID CUT

By Nachilima Cleopatra Chisala

The Minister of Health’s response to the U.S. Ambassador’s statement is deeply disappointing and, frankly, trivializes the seriousness of the situation. It is unfortunate that instead of addressing the specific and damning allegations raised by the U.S. Government, the Minister chose to reframe them as mere “concerns.” This is not a matter of concern these are allegations of sustained, large-scale theft of donated medicines, spanning nearly four years under the current administration.

The Minister fails to confront the core issue: donated medicines are being stolen and sold in private pharmacies across the country while patients in public health facilities go without. This is not just an administrative lapse it is a betrayal of public trust and a direct threat to lives.

Reassurances are no longer enough. Zambians don’t need words we need accountability. The public deserves to know:

Where the stolen drugs ended up

Who profited from them

Does the government have the $50 million required to replace the aid being withdrawn

And let’s be clear: in diplomatic and political terms, when a partner like the United States cuts off aid, it is not a mere procedural decision it is a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE in the Zambian Government. Period.

The Minister must stop deflecting and start answering. This is not a time for spin it’s a time for truth.

SOCIALIST PARTY ZAMBIA CONGRATULATES POPE LEO XIV ON ELECTION TO PAPACY

SOCIALIST PARTY ZAMBIA CONGRATULATES POPE LEO XIV ON ELECTION TO PAPACY

Lusaka… Thursday May 8, 2025 — The President of the Socialist Party of Zambia, Dr. Fred M’membe, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Pope Leo XIV following his election as the Supreme Pontiff and spiritual leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

In a message issued on behalf of the party and in his personal capacity, Dr. M’membe expressed admiration for the Pope’s ascension at what he described as a time when the world is in dire need of moral clarity, compassion, and a firm commitment to justice, fairness, and peace.

Dr. M’membe stated that the Socialist Party had full confidence that Pope Leo XIV’s leadership would serve as a source of renewed hope, especially for the poor and marginalised communities across the globe.

He emphasised the Church’s long-standing role as a voice for the downtrodden and praised the prophetic witness of previous pontiffs.

The Socialist Party leader said he looked forward to a papacy that would deepen the Church’s commitment to social justice, peace, and solidarity with the oppressed.

He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to fostering mutual respect and cooperation between political life and religious faith in pursuit of the common good.

Dr. M’membe concluded his message by offering prayers and best wishes to the new Pope, expressing hope that his tenure would be marked by wisdom, courage, and the enduring light of truth.

New Pope, 69, holds Mathematics degree

New Pope, 69, holds Mathematics degree

IN a world where most people fear mathematics like a Salama Park slay queen fearing to run into a potential buyer at a mall on a bad hair day, Pope Leo XIV has shown us that sometimes even mathematicians can become religious leaders.

While others expect a Pope to only know Theology, the 69 year old first American Pope flipped the script by becoming the first Pontiff with a degree in Mathematics.

Pope Leo XIV, born Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, cannot only recite Scriptures but can also solve complex algebra like a mathematics teacher that is never absent even during the rain season.

Before being robed in white and stepping onto the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica as the spiritual shepherd of over 1.3 billion Catholics, Pope Leo XIV was a young man with a scientific and mathematical mind.

In 1977, while many of today’s priests were still in nappies, the Pope to be was bagging his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

But numbers were not enough, by 1982, the Pontiff had added a Master of Divinity to his credentials, before marching to Rome for his Licentiate and eventually Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, showing that not only can he solve for x, but he can also interpret Church laws in Latin.

The real shaping of Pope Leo XIV did not happen in air conditioned lecture halls or cathedral offices but in the dusty streets of Peru where he served as a missionary, community leader and eventually bishop.

From 1985 to 2023, he poured decades into Latin America, speaking Spanish more than English and leading dioceses with both prayer and practical service.

He later became Prior General of the Augustinian Order and Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru before Pope Francis called him to Rome to be Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in 2023 as the guy who helps pick bishops for the whole world.

That same year, he was made a Cardinal and just two years later, he now wears the Ring of the Fisherman as Pope Leo XIV, a name that demonstrates strength and tradition.

With a brain wired for logic and a heart trained for mission, Pope Leo the 14, is expected to bring order, discipline and maybe even some mathematical precision to the Catholic Church.

Diddy’s Sex Trafficking Trial: Here Are The Celebrities Who Might Be Referenced In The Trial

As Diddy’s trial prepares to launch, there have been several celebrities who’ve already been mentioned in a list provided to potential jurors.
Sean “Diddy” Combs has reigned supreme as a towering figure in music and business with an empire that embodied a hustle and grind that turned him into a global icon. However, his federal trial beginning this month in Manhattan marks a dramatic fall from grace. Prosecutors allege that Diddy has been orchestrating a criminal empire for over two decades, coercing women into sex acts, trafficking them across state lines, and violently silencing those who resisted.

Jury selection began May 5 under U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, with testimony scheduled to begin the week of May 12. Central to the prosecution’s case are four women—one believed to be Diddy’s former partner, Cassie Ventura—whose testimonies will anchor a sweeping indictment that includes charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. Prosecutors claim Diddy ran “Freak Offs,” elaborate, drug-fueled sex performances that were recorded, manipulated, and weaponized. They say he used a network of employees to facilitate the abuse and used blackmail, violence, and bribery to control victims and cover his tracks.

Judge Subramanian has already ruled that footage of Diddy assaulting Ventura in 2016 is admissible, rejecting claims it was doctored.

Potential jurors viewed a list of celebs and public figures and were asked to reveal whether they’re familiar with them. Below is a list of everyone who has been named in the trial so far.

The comedian and actor was unexpectedly included in the jury screening process, per US Weekly. His only apparent connection? A passing joke about Diddy in an Austin Powers film. His relevance remains a mystery.

Michelle Williams

The Destiny’s Child singer was another name floated to potential jurors early on. Her connection to the trial has yet to be clarified publicly.

Michael B. Jordan

Jordan reportedly went on a date with Cassie in 2015, which made Combs upset. His inclusion on this list was likely related to their date but he will not be testifying at any point.

Dawn Richard

A former member of Danity Kane — the girl group assembled by Diddy’s Making the Band — Richard filed a lawsuit in September 2024 accusing him of sexual abuse and assault during her time under his mentorship. His team dismissed her claims as fabricated and opportunistic. Her case remains active.

Dallas Austin

Producer Dallas Austin, once romantically linked to Diddy’s late ex Kim Porter, surfaced briefly in filings referencing Diddy’s personal circle. No allegations have been made against him.

Lauren London

Court filings describe London as a recipient of Diddy’s support following Nipsey Hussle’s death in 2019. Her inclusion appears related to character assessments rather than allegations.

Laurieann Gibson

Known for her work with Diddy on multiple TV projects, including Making the Band, Gibson’s name came up in filings detailing Diddy’s business ecosystem. She is not accused of wrongdoing.

Harve Pierre

A longtime Bad Boy executive, Pierre’s longstanding association with Diddy placed him on the jury questionnaire. He may be called as a witness, but he faces no charges.

Eminem’s Stalker Convicted After Breaking Into Rapper’s Home For A Second Time

Eminem‘s stalker has been found guilty of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking after breaking into the rapper’s home for a second time.

According to the Detroit Free Press, 32-year-old Matthew David Hughes was convicted on Wednesday (May 7) following a short trial where Em himself testified about the incident.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 17.

This particular recent break-in occurred last summer, and Hughes was caught and booked into the Macomb County Jail days later. During a preliminary examination in December, he was ordered to have no contact with the rap superstar.

He was also unable to post the $500k bond set by the judge, forcing him to remain in jail through trial.

During the first incident in 2020, Em told police he woke up to find Hughes standing behind him. And when asked why he was there, Hughes said he was there to kill him.

He reached a plea deal in that case and was sentenced in September 2021 to five years of probation – but was then arrested that November for simple assault, which led to jail time for violating probation.

He was released on parole last May, and the second break-in happened just months later.

Hughes was also arrested in June 2019 after he was found sleeping in the guest house of a house previously owned by Slim Shady.

In other news, Eminem has become a grandfather as his daughter Hailie Jade recently welcomed a baby boy.

Hailie revealed on Instagram on April 4 that she had given birth and posted pictures of her child, who has been named Evan Marshall McClintock.

The boy’s middle name is, of course, a nod to his rap star grandpa, whose real name is Marshall Mathers.

Hailie Jade captioned the special announcement: “Happy due date//3 weeks earthside little e [white heart emoji].”

Tiffany Haddish gets candid about going on dates for free meals

Tiffany Haddish is opening up about the extreme measures she took to get by before fame, including going on dates just to score a free meal.

In a candid Instagram Live session this week, the comedian and actress reflected on her past struggles with money, revealing she once even sold her used underwear to make ends meet. But one of her more routine survival tactics involved using dates as an opportunity to eat.

“I care too much about other people,” Haddish said, noting how poverty shaped her behavior. She explained that being broke meant relying on whatever resources she could access—even if that meant dinner with someone she had no interest in.

“Do you know how horrible it is to go on a date with a guy because you need a meal?” the 45-year-old asked. “I don’t even want to be nice to this person or get to know him. I’m hungry.”

Haddish didn’t stop there. She weighed in on rising food costs, suggesting that soaring grocery prices might reshape how Americans look and eat.

These days, Haddish seems to be in a better place financially. In January, she posted a playful Instagram reel symbolizing her improved fiscal health.

“My relationship with money for the last 10 years?” she wrote, sharing a clip of herself kissing a dollar bill. “We have had our ups and downs over the years, But We are growing and are stronger than ever.”

Nurse Arrested After Infant’s Body Goes Missing From Hospital Mortuary

A nurse has been arrested after an infant’s body went missing from Chitungwiza Central Hospital’s mortuary.

A 32-year-old nurse from Chitungwiza Central Hospital has been taken into police custody following the mysterious disappearance of an eight-month-old infant’s body from the hospital mortuary.

The disturbing incident unfolded when Munashe Ganyiwa, a nursing staff member, cared for young Emmanuel Charindapanze in the pediatric ward. The child had been admitted to the facility on Saturday.

Infant Dies At Chitungwiza Central Hospital
In the early morning hours of Sunday, the infant’s mother, 46-year-old Shamiso Nyause, urgently summoned medical assistance when her child experienced sudden medical complications. Nurse Ganyiwa responded to the call and subsequently declared the infant deceased.

Following protocol, the nurse removed the baby’s clothing and handed them to the grieving mother. Another hospital staff member then transported the remains to the mortuary for storage.

Infant’s Body Disappears At Chitungwiza Hospital

When the parents returned on Monday to collect their child’s body for burial preparations, they received devastating news from the mortuary staff. Despite thorough searches among all pediatric remains present, Emmanuel’s body could not be located.

The mortuary attendant immediately contacted the nurse responsible for the initial body transfer. In a shocking revelation, Ganyiwa suggested the remains might have been accidentally cremated.

Nurse Arrested After Infant’s Body Goes Missing
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest to reporters:

“We have detained a healthcare worker in Chitungwiza regarding potential violations concerning human remains. The investigation began after the parents were unable to locate their child’s body despite following proper procedures with hospital administration.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this troubling case as the medical community and grieving family seek answers about the infant’s missing remains.

Journalist Blessed Mhlanga Speaks After 73 Days In Custody

“I was safe under the care of Mike Chimombe and Mose Mpofu” – Blessed Mhlanga
HStv journalist Blessed Mhlanga has broken his silence after spending 73 days in custody, saying he was “safe under the care” of fellow inmates Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu at Harare Remand Prison. Mhlanga, who was arrested in February 2025, was released on bail on Tuesday, 7 May 2025, after three failed attempts.

“It’s impossible to describe conditions at Harare Remand Prison in words,” Mhlanga wrote on X.

“The place is hell but I was safe under the care of Mike Chimombe and Mose Mpofu, themselves political prisoners who for 10 months have been fighting for bail. A right denied to them. They are in my prayers.”

Harare Remand “was hell”
Mhlanga, who is also a law student, was jailed after interviewing former war veteran Blessed Geza. Geza had called for nationwide protests, which led to both men being sought by police. Mhlanga turned himself in and was denied bail three times, including once when he cited exams and ill health.

His detention drew local and international attention, with critics raising concerns over media freedom.

“This place is hell!” tweeted journalist and colleague Maynard Manyowa.

Mhlanga’s eventual bail was set at US$500. He is required to report to Harare Central CID Law and Order every Friday and must not interfere with state witnesses.

A bittersweet reunion
Mhlanga was reunited with his family the evening after his release. He had spent an extra day in custody due to a clerical error in the court order. Photos shared on social media showed him smiling and embracing loved ones.

“He is the breadwinner. This was not just about one man – it affected a whole family,” said one of his relatives.

His legal team worked overnight to fix the documentation. Supporters said the court’s previous refusal to grant bail had taken a toll on his health.

“Even when he was bedridden, the court still denied him bail,” said a source close to the family.

Political prisoners and press freedom
In his first public statement, Mhlanga highlighted the plight of Chimombe and Mpofu, who remain in custody. Both men have been linked to high-profile corruption allegations and are yet to be granted bail despite numerous efforts.

“They cared for me. We looked after each other,” Mhlanga added in his post. “These men are political prisoners.”

As the legal process continues, Mhlanga’s focus now turns to rebuilding his life — and his ongoing studies.

Zim MPs Push for Tougher Laws to Ban Skin-Lightening Creams

Zimbabwean lawmakers have raised concerns over the increasing use of skin-lightening products among both men and women, calling for stricter laws to curb their importation and sale.

During a parliamentary debate on Wednesday, legislators discussed a motion introduced by Harare East MP Kiven Mutimbanyoka, which called for legislative reforms around the sale and distribution of skin-lightening creams.

Several MPs urged the government to tighten restrictions on the products and penalise vendors more harshly.

Midlands MP Perseviarance Zhou stressed the urgent need for public education on the dangers of these creams. She said both men and women should be taught about the risks, and that the Ministry of Health should lead the effort.

“I’m imploring this august house to come up with a very concrete programme together with the ministry of health to teach people about the dangers of using lightening creams. The education must include both men and women,” said Midlands MP Perseviarance Zhou.

She added that women, in particular, face severe health complications.

“From my research, the use of these creams is dangerous, especially for women. It can cause permanent complications, particularly when one wants to conceive. The danger of using lightening creams is that when someone is hurt and there is need for stitching, the skin will now be too delicate,” she added.

Mt Darwin MP Barbra Thompson echoed the sentiment, saying the products were wreaking havoc in communities and needed to be addressed through new laws.

Other MPs also highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns. One lawmaker said the country needed to “approach the issue wisely” and prioritise education to reduce the use of harmful creams.

Murehwa North MP Noah Mangondo pointed out that despite existing laws — including Statutory Instrument 216 of 2019 — the harmful products are still widely available. He blamed weak enforcement and called for better coordination between government agencies like ZIMRA, the Medicines Control Authority, and the Health Ministry to stop the flow of banned creams into stores.

But not everyone was on the same page.

Hwange Central MP Daniel Molokele-Tsiye urged caution, saying the debate should also consider the motivations of people who use skin-lightening products.

“I want to encourage us to be very careful and as a country, we need to listen more to those who are doing the skin lightening or skin bleaching. We need to go into their psyche and understand what message they are trying to bring to the society. We should not make assumptions about their behaviour and conduct. We must respect their rights,” he argued.

Michelle Obama has revealed her husband Barack’s brutal three words after her mom passed away

Michelle Obama has revealed her husband Barack’s brutal three words after her mom Marian Robinson, passed away at age 86 in May 2024.

During Wednesday’s episode of the former first lady and her brother Craig Robinson’s “IMO” podcast, Michelle recalled a conversation she had with the 44th president of the US.

She said her husband told her ‘You’re next up’ after her mother died.

‘I guess if anything, with mom’s loss, I think that – thank God you’re my big brother and I have a husband who’s older,’ she said.

‘Barack was saying, you know, “Well, you’re next up.” And I was like, “I’m not really ready to be next up,” I told him, “You’re next up and Craig is next up.” I delegate that power to you.’

Robinson died at age 86 in May of last year, Michelle confirmed on social media at the time. Their father, Fraser C Robinson, died in 1991 at age 55.

‘That’s really when you become an adult, is when your parents are not in that spot of managing and maintaining,’ she continued on Wednesday’s podcast.

‘But that’s going to happen at some point where each of us, in our own lives, we become the parent, we become the convener, we become the glue.’

The brother and sister duo admitted on the show that the positions were ‘big shoes to fill’ after losing both of their parents.

‘It’s a major shift in your life,’ Michelle continued. ‘I don’t care how old you get. Mom and dad are mom and dad. Even when I was taking care of mom, I still gotta listen to her. I can sort of boss her around but in the end, she’s my mother.’

‘There’s a comfort level in that, knowing that no matter how wise or experienced I am in the world, mom always knew more.’

Her candid discussion regarding their mother’s death came as Michelle revealed she had began going to therapy to help transition into the ‘next phase’ of her life.

Singer Miley Cyrus reveals she’s grateful the house she shared with ex-husband burned down

Miley Cyrus has opened up about the 2018 Woolsey Fire that destroyed her $2.525 million Malibu home, which she and her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, shared.

Instead of dwelling on the loss, the American singer views the incident as a turning point that brought her clarity and gratitude.

She shared that losing her home symbolized the breakdown of important relationships, including her marriage to Hemsworth, but led her to “magic and gratitude”.

‘When my house burned down, that was the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life, actually,’ the 32-year-old pop star said during a Q&A at her Something Beautiful event Tuesday, according to People.

‘Losing everything and being able to rebuild, and to be able to be purposeful and choose every piece that I’m gonna collect or also just about the people in my life.

‘And I guess for me, when my house burned down, a lot of my relationships also burned down, and that again just led me to such magic and to have so much gratitude.’

‘I think what I would have told my younger self is to appreciate those darker times because, like I said, they are only leading you into the light,’ Cyrus noted onstage Manhattan’s Metrograph.

Liam and Miley confirmed their split in August 2019 and finalized their divorce in January 2020 after less than a year of marriage.

The on/off couple first began dating in 2010 after meeting on the set of The Last Song and got engaged for the first time in May 2012.

However, they then split up in September 2013 before reuniting in 2016, going on to tie the knot in December 2018 before splitting for good just eight months later.

Meanwhile, Liam is still going strong with his girlfriend, Australian model Gabriella Brooks since 2019.

VIDEO: Man ‘returns’ via AI to address his killer in Court

Chris Pelkey, who was shot and killed in a road rage incident in Arizona, USA three years ago, recently “returned” to court to confront his killer through artificial intelligence.

At the sentencing of Gabriel Horcasitas, the man convicted of shooting Pelkey at a red light, Pelkey’s family used AI to deliver a posthumous victim impact statement.

The technology recreated Pelkey’s voice and likeness using past voice recordings, photos, and videos. His sister, Stacey Wales, wrote the words for the AI-generated video, reflecting what she believed her forgiving brother would have said.

“To Gabriel Horcasitas, the man who shot me, it is a shame we encountered each other that day in those circumstances,” said the AI-rendered Pelkey in the courtroom. “In another life, we probably could have been friends. I believe in forgiveness, and a God who forgives. I always have and I still do.”

The video, shown during the sentencing, featured the AI version of Pelkey wearing a grey baseball cap. Judge Todd Lang, who presided over the case, responded positively to the use of AI in court. He sentenced Horcasitas to 10 and a half years in prison on manslaughter charges.

“I loved that AI, thank you for that. As angry as you are, as justifiably angry as the family is, I heard the forgiveness,” Judge Lang said. “I feel that that was genuine.”

Paul Grimm, a retired federal judge and professor at Duke Law School, said he wasn’t surprised by the AI use in this case, noting that Arizona courts already use AI in other ways, such as simplifying Supreme Court rulings for public understanding.

Since the video was shown during sentencing after a jury had already reached a verdict—its use was deemed acceptable.

However, some experts caution against how such technology might be used in future legal cases. Derek Leben, a business ethics professor at Carnegie Mellon University, expressed concern about ensuring that AI-generated statements always align with what the deceased would have truly wanted.

“If we have other people doing this moving forward, are we always going to get fidelity to what the person, the victim in this case, would’ve wanted?” Leben asked.

Wales, however, believes their use of AI honored her brother’s values.

“We approached this with ethics and morals because this is a powerful tool,” she said. “Just like a hammer can be used to break a window or rip down a wall, it can also be used as a tool to build a house—and that’s how we used this technology.”

44 arrested after PSG vs Arsenal chaos in Paris

The city of Paris descended into chaos on Wednesday night, May 7, following Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final. Jubilant scenes quickly turned violent as riot police clashed with fans across the city.

PSG secured their place in the final with a 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes, completing a 3-1 aggregate triumph. Celebrations spilt into the streets, especially around the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, where tensions escalated.

A car drove into a crowd of PSG supporters, injuring three people—one of them critically. Witnesses said the vehicle ploughed through the crowd before being chased down by a group of fans, who set it ablaze after forcing it to stop on Avenue Marceau.

Police confirmed that 44 people were arrested in connection with the unrest. One source described the car incident as the “worst” of the night, stating: “At least three supporters were injured, one seriously, and others were sent flying.”

One left critically Injured and 44 arrested after PSG vs Arsenal chaos in Paris

Riot police in full gear were deployed throughout Paris, but clashes still broke out before and after the game. The city had placed an additional 2,000 officers and gendarmes on duty in anticipation of trouble. Despite this, violent scenes unfolded in multiple areas.

Although 2,000 Arsenal fans held official tickets for the match, thousands more travelled to Paris and gathered in pubs and public viewing areas. Arsenal had warned its supporters ahead of time to avoid certain neighbourhoods, especially Auteuil, citing concerns over safety and street crime.

The violence marred what was otherwise a historic night for PSG, who now advance to the Champions League final. Authorities continue to investigate the incidents, including the car attack, as the city assesses the aftermath of the chaos.

Bill Gates to donate entire fortune by 2045

Bill Gates has announced plans to give away nearly his entire personal wealth by 2045, with approximately $200 billion expected to go toward supporting the world’s poorest people through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder said the foundation will spend almost all of his personal fortune and officially close on December 31, 2045.

“People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them,” Gates stated on his website. “There are too many urgent problems to solve for me to hold onto resources that could be used to help people.”

Gates emphasized the urgency of addressing preventable deaths, ending diseases like polio, malaria, and measles, and reducing global poverty—especially as major donor governments, including the U.S., U.K., and France, reduce foreign aid budgets.

He acknowledged that, while the foundation has significant resources, its impact depends on continued support from global governments. He cited polio eradication as an example of an initiative that would be impossible to achieve without U.S. funding.

Founded in 2000 with his then-wife Melinda French Gates, the foundation has already disbursed $100 billion, funding organizations such as Gavi and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. By 2026, its annual spending is expected to reach $9 billion.

Although the foundation has faced criticism for its influence and lack of accountability, especially during the pandemic, Gates reaffirmed his commitment to global health efforts.

He encouraged other wealthy individuals to increase their philanthropic efforts: “I hope others consider how much they can accelerate progress for the world’s poorest by increasing the pace and scale of their giving. It’s one of the most impactful ways to give back to society.”

“I will always love you as the mother of our daughters, Solange and Beyoncé” Matthew Knowles tells Tina Knowles

Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, 71, reunited with her ex-husband Matthew Knowles during the hometown stop of her Matriarch book tour.

The event to promote Tina Knowles’ book held at the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land in Houston, Texas on May 5.

Tina and moderator Kelly Rowland surprised the crowd with Matthew’s arrival.

After the record executive—who shares daughters Beyoncé and Solange Knowles with Tina—took his seat, the author expressed her gratitude for his decision to join her.

“Cause both of us, neither one of us has ever bad mouthed each other, ever and I would never do that,” Tina—who was married to Mathew from 1980 to 2011—said.

“And I said, ‘You know what we should do to show this united front, you know you should come down and come on stage.’”

After the event, Matthew took to his social media accounts to share a photo he took at the event with his ex-wife, current wife Gena, and Kelly Rowland.

He wrote: “Thanks, Houston, for such a warm reception when I walked on and off the stage.

“Thank you, Kelly, for your very kind words on your introduction: ‘When it came to business, when it came to starting anew, when it came to a house and to protect his black wife, to protect his black girls and to always show up in the most authentic form of being a black man which I love about him.’

“Tina, so proud of your accomplishment of being a New York Times best-selling author, which isn’t easy to come by.

“I will always love you as the mother of our daughters, Solange and Beyoncé.

“Gena, thank you for the understanding and being such an amazing wife, soon to be 12 years, in this crazy world of media.”

Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo calls out catholic church over black smoke symbolism

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has publicly challenged a long-standing Vatican tradition — the use of black smoke to signify a failed papal election.

In a video posted to his page, Kanayo pointed out the global implications of associating “black” with failure.

“When they fail, it’s black smoke. When they succeed, it’s white smoke… This has been ingrained in the minds of the world that black is failure.”

He referenced the ongoing conclave of cardinals and how the black smoke on a recent day signaled their inability to elect a new pope.

He’s calling for a change:

“Let blue smoke mean a new Pope has not been elected and let white smoke mean he has. Remove the black. It’s not good for us.”

ASAP Rocky Shares Why He & Rihanna Decided To Announce Third Pregnancy

It had been speculated for a little bit now that Rihanna and ASAP Rocky were expecting another little monster, so it made sense to come clean.
There may have been a lot of attention-grabbing looks at the Met Gala this year, but ASAP Rocky and Rihanna kind of stole the show. If you haven’t heard already, the rapper and singer are now in the midst of a third pregnancy together. The power couple dropped the bombshell early into the evening yesterday (May 5) thanks to RiRi’s tight outfit proudly displaying a baby bump.

However, it’s admittedly difficult to call it shocking news as many folks online have been anticipating what they felt was obvious. For example, there were reports of Rihanna supporting Rocky during his Rolling Loud set this year. While there, she was seen wearing a baggier ensemble which drove rumors to no end.

Moreover, there’s the fact that the Barbadian businesswoman has been very open to expanding her home. “You know what, I hope so,” she told ET last June. That question was presumably a result of her not appearing at last year’s Met Gala.

But her and ASAP Rocky weren’t ducking the cameras and the reporters this year despite the fact that they’ve known about this. But why not keep it a secret? Well, to be honest, the New York born rapper (and Rihanna) was “tired of” hiding it.

In an interview with AP captured by Uproxx, Rocky said it just felt good to get that weight off of their chests. “It feels amazing, you know? We were tired of holding that, and it was time to show the people what we was cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, because we’re definitely happy.”

He was then asked about said fans’ happiness and how much it means that so many are rooting for them. “That’s amazing. Honestly, it’s a blessing nonetheless, because you know how some people in other situations at times can be envious of other people, but we’ve been seeing love for the most part. We’re real receptive to that. We appreciate that, you know what I mean? That’s love. Love is love.”

Unfortunately, outside of the rumors being confirmed, we don’t know anything yet about how far along she is. But what we do know is that their boys, RZA and Riot, are going to have another sibling. Congratulations from the HNHH crew Rihanna and ASAP Rocky!

Rick Ross says he’s willing to squash the beef with Drake

American rapper, Rick Ross has made it clear that he’s open to ending his feud with Drake if the right gesture is made.

During a new appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, the Miami rapper said the beef was never that deep to begin with and suggested it wouldn’t take much to make peace. “Real n*s stay real,” Ross said in a clip shared by Akademiks TV. “Was it something really deep? Nah. F that, though. But if it’s real, it’s real—and that’s what it is.”

He even joked about what it would take to bury the hatchet: “You never know, if a n***a send me a bottle of Luc Belaire, especially the white one. Send me a white Belaire and I’ll take a picture with you.”

This isn’t the first time Ross has addressed the feud. He previously spoke about it during an episode of Caresha Please with Yung Miami. “He mentioned my name, and that’s a no-no,” Ross explained. “Don’t do that, especially when it ain’t about no real sh*t. But when you do that, okay then: this is how we gonna play.”

He added that he doesn’t let the tension with Drake affect him personally. “I can wake up every day and say ‘BBL Drizzy’ or some old sht, while I’m smoking a joint, listening to the waterfalls and all that sht, looking at the birds fly off. That sht easy for me… I ain’t losing no sleep over none of that sht.”

The feud between the two former collaborators began last year after Drake’s diss track “Push Ups” leaked online. In it, Drake took shots at Ross’s age and questioned his relevance. Ross responded with his own diss track, “Champagne Moments,” where he accused Drake of using ghostwriters and undergoing cosmetic surgery. He also reminded fans that Drake had once called him his “favorite person to rap with.”

Sean Kingston Denied Permission For Concert Performance Ahead Of SentencingSean

Sean Kingston will not be making an appearance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, as a judge has denied him permission to travel while out on bond.

AllHipHop reports that the “Beautiful Girls” singer and his legal team attempted to get approval for the one-night show, arguing that it was not a club setting and that it would bring income in while he’s otherwise not able to work due to the travel restrictions as he awaits sentencing for his fraud conviction.

His attorney further highlighted that Kingston has fully adhered to all bond requirements including GPS monitoring, and that he’d be more than willing to provide a complete travel itinerary and maintain communication with his probation officer both before and after the trip.

Judge David Leibowitz wasn’t into it, however, and rejected the motion without comment.

In March, Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty of one charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud each.

Each charge carries the significant sentence of up to 20 years behind bars.

Kingston and Turner were arrested in May 2024 during a raid on his Florida mansion after he was sued for allegedly failing to pay for a number of luxury items, which later unveiled the wire fraud scheme.

The suit, filed by Ver Ver Entertainment LLC, accused Kingston of scamming the company out of high-end electronics.

In exchange for the electronics, which would have cost over $100,000, the rapper allegedly promised to make promotional videos for the products with Justin Bieber, who he worked with on the hit song “Eeenie Meenie” back in 2010.

Kingston paid a $30,000 down payment for the goods and agreed to make a second payment of $47,000, while the rest would be paid for in the form of social-media posts, the suit claimed.

However, he failed to make the second payment after the TV was installed and did not make any of the social media posts either, according to the complaint.

US President Donald Trump has celebrated the election of the first U.S.-born pope, calling it a “Great Honor” that Robert Francis Prevost, who chose Leo XIV as his papal name, was selected on Thursday, May 8, as the first American pontiff.

“Congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who was just named Pope,” Mr. Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!”

Trump previously said he had “no preference” about who the new pope would be and stirred a backlash from some Catholics after posting an AI-generated image of himself as pope to social media

Prevost, 69 was born in Chicago and attended Villanova University before becoming a missionary in Peru.

He was elected and accepted his fate as the next Bishop of Rome, leader of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics earlier on Thursday.

Pope Leo XIV will succeed Pope Francis, who died last month after leading the Catholic Church for more than a decade. He played a key in shaping the image of the church over the past decade, emphasizing issues like climate change during his tenure.

father has been accused of intentionally setting his house on fire before the de@d bodies of his two sons were found inside

A father has been accused of intentionally setting his house on fire before the de@d bodies of his two sons were found inside.

Police say the man used accelerants to set fire to his home, despite “knowing” it was “occupied” by his two sons.

Dustin Fields, 43, was arrested last week and charged with first-degree arson after a fire at his Franklin County home on April 30.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found 13-year-old Bently Fields and 15-year-old Rylan Fields, the man’s sons, de@d, alongside a family dog.

During a hearing on Monday, May 5, Fields entered a not guilty plea and asked to be released temporarily to attend his sons’ funeral. Instead, the judge kept his bond set at $2 million.

“I miss my boys,” he reportedly told the court.

When asked about owning property during the hearing, he also allegedly said, “I do but it just recently went up in a ball of flames, so there’s nothing but grass and a garage at the moment.”

According to an arrest report, Fields was taken in and charged after investigators utilizing a K-9 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms detected accelerants on his shoes and around the house — including where the teens’ bodies were discovered.

The report accused Fields of using “accelerants to set fire to his residence knowing that the home was occupied by his two juvenile sons.”

Chief Dwayne Depp of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office told PEOPLE that Fields wasn’t at the scene when first responders arrived, but showed up moments later. He allegedly gave “conflicting information” to investigators — with the Sheriff saying additional charges could come amid an ongoing investigation.

According to a GoFundMe set up by a friend of Fields’ wife – who is not the mother of the two victims – she had recently filed for an emergency protective order against Dustin for her, her son and her step-sons.

Another GoFundMe set up by the victims’ sister, shared more details about the boys.

“Bently was the youngest, only 13. He was supposed to graduate middle school in just a few weeks. He loved to fish and even made YouTube videos about it,” she wrote.

“Rylan was more tech-savvy than anything really. He even had his own stocks and fixed phones and computers everywhere; he was only 15.”

She added that a viewing and funeral will be held on Friday, May 9.

David Beckham and Gary Neville complete takeover of League Two club Salford City

English football icons, David Beckham and Gary Neville have officially completed a full takeover of League Two club Salford City, buying out their fellow members of Manchester United’s famed “Class of ‘92.”

Neville has been involved with the club since 2014 alongside Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, and Phil Neville. Beckham joined the ownership group later, but now the duo have assumed full control following the exit of their former teammates as shareholders. According to The Athletic, those members will still have some involvement with the club in advisory roles.

Following the departure of former majority shareholder Peter Lim in 2024, Beckham and Neville began searching for new investors. They’ve now brought in Declan Kelly, founder of U.S.-based advisory firm Consello, and Lord Mervyn Davies, chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association. The new investment group collectively holds an 80% stake in the club, with individual shares ranging from 5% to 10%, leaving room for future partners.

The group has raised an estimated $15–20 million (£11.2m–£15m), which will be used to upgrade Salford’s sporting and infrastructural projects. Among their ambitions is a push to reach the Championship within the next five years.

David Beckham and Gary Neville complete takeover of British club, Salford City

Speaking about the takeover, Beckham said:
“I will be over every big decision that’s made and every little decision that’s made. That’s my commitment to Gary, and to the club.”

Neville added:
“I feel very strongly that owners are just guardians of football clubs for fans. The idea is that fans should have access behind the scenes to what’s happening. We’ve never been shy in sharing content about the club, and that won’t change. We’ll keep innovating how we do that.”

He also highlighted three major priorities for the next phase: On-field success, Investment in the local area,Long-term development of infrastructure, including the stadium and training facilities.

“We’ve poured money into these areas over the last decade, and we’re ready to do it again,” Neville said. “But we need to get this club on solid financial ground and bring balance to its operations.”

None of the new investors will be directly involved in day-to-day activities at Moor Lane, and the club is currently interviewing candidates for a new chief executive role.

Jackie Chan, 71, reveals when he’ll retire

Movie Icon, Jackie Chan recently revealed when he plans to retire from his decades-long acting career.

The “Rush Hour” star opened up on Tuesday, May 6, during a new interview with Haute Living about his upcoming movie, “Karate Kid: Legends.”

Despite being 71 years old and following concerns about his health, the legendary martial artist revealed that he still performs his own stunts and always will.

“Of course, I always do my own stunts. It’s who I am,” he insisted. “That’s not changing until the day I retire, which is never!”

“When you’ve done it for 64 years straight, there’s no physical preparation anymore,” Chan continued.

“Everything is in your heart and soul; it is muscle memory.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Armour of God” actor detailed how far action sequences have come since 1962, when he first started in the biz.

“In the old days, the only way was to be there and jump; that’s it,” Chan explained.

“Today, with computers, actors can do anything, but there’s always a sense of reality that you feel is missing.”

He also called the technological advancements a “double-edged sword.”

“On one hand, actors become more and more capable of doing impossible stunts with the help of technology,” Chan said, “and yet, on the other hand, the concept of danger and limit gets blurred and the audience is numb.”

However, the “Rumble in the Bronx” star admitted that performing one’s own stunts is “dangerous.”

“But I’m not encouraging anybody to risk their lives to do the stunts like I did,” Chan said, “It truly is too dangerous.”

Chan’s acting career kicked off with the Cantonese film “Big and Little Wong Tin Bar” when he appeared as an extra at age 8.

Zim police officer jailed for beating suspect during investigation

A police officer in Zimbabwe has been convicted and sentenced for assaulting a schoolteacher during a criminal investigation in Chiredzi. The officer, Owen Manjengwa, was found guilty of assault after attacking the teacher with open hands and a baton stick, causing internal injuries.

According to a bulletin issued by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) on 8 May 2025, the assault occurred on 21 February 2024 at around 3PM at Mhlanguledzi Primary School in Chikombedzi. Manjengwa, who is stationed at Chikombedzi Police Station, approached the teacher as part of an investigation into a case of unlawful entry reported the previous day.

“The offender… informed the victim that he was under arrest. The complainant denied the allegations, and the offender then assaulted him,” the NPAZ stated. The teacher was reportedly beaten on the buttocks with a baton stick and struck with open hands on the face, leading to internal injuries.

Following his trial at the Chikombedzi Magistrates’ Court, the 40-year-old officer was fined US$200. In the event he fails to pay the fine, he will serve a 90-day prison sentence. Additionally, the magistrate imposed a four-month prison term, which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that Manjengwa does not commit a similar offence during that period.

Former Manchester United star Wan-Bissaka switches allegiance to DR Congo

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has received his first call-up to the senior national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) ahead of th eir international friendlies scheduled for June, marking a significant development in his football career and a reconnection with his roots.

The 27-year-old defender, who currently plays for Manchester United, had previously represented DR Congo at the under-20 level in 2015 before switching allegiance to England, where he featured across various youth teams. His selection for DR Congo’s senior squad reflects both his current form and a renewed commitment to his Congolese heritage.

Wan-Bissaka’s inclusion comes as DR Congo prepares for two key friendly matches, starting with a game against Mali on June 5, 2025. That encounter is expected to test the team’s cohesion and defensive resilience, with Wan-Bissaka likely to play a critical role. Three days later, DR Congo will face Madagascar, giving the right-back an opportunity to cement his place in the team and potentially secure a long-term role in the Leopards’ setup.

The call-up marks a new chapter for Wan-Bissaka at the international level, as he transitions from his earlier England youth career to a full senior role with DR Congo, underlining the growing trend of dual-nationality players embracing their ancestral nations.
