🇿🇲 BUILD-UP | UPND Gains Ground in Muchinga as Defections Signal Early Pre-Election Realignment
Two Patriotic Front (PF) Members of Parliament from Muchinga Province have crossed over to the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), in a development that adds to signs of shifting political alignment ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Sunday Chanda, MP for Kanchibiya, and Majory Nakaponda, MP for Isoka, formally joined the UPND yesterday, with PF President and Leader of the Opposition Robert Chabinga present during the transition. Mr Chanda indicated that councillors in his constituency are expected to follow, pointing to a broader movement beyond individual defection.
At face value, this is a routine political crossover.
But in context, it reflects something more deliberate.
Muchinga Province has long formed part of the PF’s political backbone. Movement within this region, particularly involving sitting Members of Parliament and local structures, suggests early signs of erosion in what was once considered stable opposition ground.
The timing is notable.
With Parliament expected to dissolve in May, the political window for repositioning is narrowing. Defections at this stage are rarely isolated. They tend to signal calculations about electoral viability, access to structures, and alignment with perceived momentum heading into a national vote.
Public reasons offered by the defectors centred on policy.
Ms Nakaponda cited government programmes such as free education, while endorsements from council chairpersons across Nakonde, Chinsali, Shiwang’andu, Isoka, Mafinga, and Kanchibiya framed the UPND as best placed to sustain development in the province.
Such justifications carry political weight.
But they also sit alongside a familiar pre-election pattern, where local actors recalibrate positions in response to shifting power dynamics and resource access tied to incumbency.
For the UPND, the gains are both symbolic and structural.
Symbolically, they reinforce a narrative of growing national reach, particularly in regions where the party has historically struggled. Structurally, the movement of MPs, councillors, and civic leaders strengthens grassroots networks ahead of campaign mobilisation.
For the PF, the implications are more complex.
While defections are not uncommon in Zambia’s political cycle, movement at this level raises questions about internal cohesion and the party’s ability to retain influence in key provinces as the election approaches.
Crowds and endorsements can signal momentum.
But electoral outcomes are shaped by organisation, messaging, and voter turnout.
What follows next will be critical.
Whether this development triggers further defections, or prompts consolidation within the opposition, may define the early balance of power as the country moves closer to dissolution and the formal start of the campaign season.
HARRY KALABA DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF BRIAN MUNDUBILE
RELEASE HON. BRIAN MUNDUBILE NOW
Lusaka-Friday, 20th March 2026
We have learnt with shock that Tonse Alliance leader and Mporokoso MP, Hon Brian Mundubile was yesterday removed from the travel manifest, stopped from traveling and detained at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) for hours, before he was later transferred to Ibex Hill Police Station.
To begin with, this action by authorities is extremely suspicious. If the Law Enforcement Agencies had an issue or were conducting investigations on Hon. Mundubile, did they need to wait when he was due to travel abroad before they could call him for interrogations? Why didn’t they issue a police call-out for him but chose to stop him from travel and disrupt his travel plans?
This occurrences have become a very nasty practice by the authorities where leaders of the Opposition have been interrogated or refused or stopped to travel at the Airport as has happened before to the late President Edgar Lungu, the late FDD Leader, Edith Nawakwi, Socialist Party President, Dr. Fred M’membe and others.
It is now an established fact that the government of President Hakainde Hichilema has been routinely harrassing leaders of the Opposition and critics by subjecting them to unlawful harrasments, detentions, arrests and imprisonment.
This has recently been documented in detail.
The latest Human Rights Watch Country report has detailed Zambia’s extensive abuse of human rights and the state clamping down on Opposition political leaders and citizens’ freedom of expression.
The World Report 2026 released in New York City which covers human rights practices in 100 countries stated that the government of President Hakainde Hichilema had become increasingly authoritarian and hostile, passed oppressive laws, harassed, arrested and jailed political opponents and critics.
The report stated that these laws included new constitutional amendments that were passed to oppress the people and consolidate Hichilema’s hold on power ahead of the August 2026 elections.
The report also detailed cases of human rights violations and denial of civic and political freedoms Zambians. It is for this reason that we call upon President Hakainde Hichilema to stop the abuse of Law Enforcement Agencies that have been weaponised against his critics.
Therefore the action against Hon. Mundubile does not follow principles of the due process of the law and therefore becomes illegitimate and must be abandoned.
The harassment of the Opposition is impacting on the country’s capacity to hold democratic, credible, free and fair elections. Release Hon. Mundubile
MILES SAMPA RESTRAINED BY COURT OF APPEAL FROM INTERFERING WITH PF RECORDS AT THE REGISTRAR OF SOCIETIES
By: Thomas Afroman Mwale
Matero Member of Parliament, Miles Bwalya Sampa, has been restrained by the Court of Appeal of Zambia from interfering with the role and functions of Morgan Ng’ona as Secretary General of the Patriotic Front (PF).
The interim injunction, signed on March 19, 2026, and shared with Sun FM TV News, also prohibits Sampa from altering official records at the Registrar of Societies relating to PF office bearers, pending the determination of Ng’ona’s appeal.
Legal representatives for Ng’ona, Messrs. Kayula & Associates, filed the application, citing potential disruption to party operations.
April 14, 2026, has been set as the date for the full court to hear the inter partes application for the injunction.
A penal notice included in the order warns that any breach could result in contempt of court and imprisonment.
Ng’ona, suing in his capacity as PF Secretary General, argued that Sampa’s actions interfered with his official duties and could compromise the party’s records.
This latest injunction comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the Patriotic Front, with both factions awaiting the March 27 judgment by the Kabwe High Court, which previously restrained the holding of the PF convention. #SunFmTvNews
Kudos to Makebi—a true people’s person, and a leader whose heart is as strong as his vision.
In a political landscape often defined by bitterness, retaliation, and endless cycles of settling scores, Makebi Zulu stands out as a rare kind of leader—one with a genuinely big heart and an unwavering commitment to unity. At a time when many would choose revenge, he has consistently made it clear that his leadership will not be driven by vengeance, but by unity, reconciliation, justice, and national progress.
Makebi Zulu’s leadership is not built on empty rhetoric—it is grounded in action, consistency, and principle. When he was involved in an accident in Kasama, one would expect even the bare minimum of human decency from political counterparts. Yet, Brian Mundubile never made the effort to visit him—not at the hospital where he was admitted in Kasama, where Brian Mundubile was also present, and thereafter not even at home after he was discharged. For many, that moment alone would have drawn a line—fueling resentment or justifying retaliation
But that is not who Makebi Zulu is.
When tragedy struck Mundubile’s family and he lost his mother-in-law, Makebi did not hesitate. He came straight from his demanding campaign trail in Eastern Province to attend the burial, putting humanity above politics, compassion above pride, and unity above division. That single act spoke louder than any speech, press statement, or political slogan ever could.
And even today, in the face of adversity, his character remains unchanged. With Mundubile facing arrest, Makebi once again chose the higher road. Despite everything—the silence during his own time of need, the lack of reciprocity, and the constant political hostility—he still found time to go and offer solidarity. That is not weakness; that is the mark of a leader secure in his values.
This is what sets Makebi Zulu apart.
He is the true definition of leadership grounded in empathy, humility, and principle. He understands that leadership is not about personal grudges or political point-scoring—it is about responsibility, restraint, and the ability to rise above provocation.
Despite the disrespect and insults he continues to receive from many aligned with Team Mundubile, Makebi Zulu does not internalize bitterness. He does not respond with hate. Instead, he demonstrates patience, discipline, and a deep understanding of what leadership truly demands. He knows that a nation cannot be built on anger—it must be built on unity, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Beyond these personal acts of compassion, Makebi represents a new kind of political thinking—one that prioritizes people over power, service over self-interest, and nation-building over political survival. His approach signals a shift away from toxic politics toward a future where leadership is measured not by how loudly one attacks opponents, but by how effectively one serves citizens.
In a time when many are losing faith in political leadership, Makebi Zulu offers something different: hope grounded in action, strength expressed through humility, and leadership guided by principle.
If leadership is about character, consistency, and the courage to do what is right even when it is not reciprocated, then Makebi Zulu has already shown that he embodies the qualities of a national leader.

PF WRANGLES BEGAN AFTER SATA’S D£ATH – CHABINGA CLAIMS ROLE IN BUILDING ECL BRAND
Patriotic Front (PF) faction president Robert Chabinga says the party’s internal wrangles can be traced back to the period following the d£ath of former President Michael Sata in 2014.
Mr Chabinga said Sata’s passing created a leadership vacuum that led to the emergence of multiple factions within the party, including those aligned to Given Lubinda, Miles Sampa, and a group supported by former First Lady Christine Kaseba.
“After President Sata died, that is when confusion started in PF. The party had many camps competing for control,” Mr Chabinga said.
Speaking during an interview on the Kenny T One on One podcast, Mr Chabinga further claimed that former President Edgar Lungu was not initially part of the succession contest, but was later brought forward through a coordinated effort by some party members.
“Edgar Lungu was not even in the picture at that time. We came up with what we called ‘Project Edgar Lungu’,” he said.
Mr Chabinga added that at the time, Mr Lungu was not widely known among senior members of the PF.
“No prominent politicians in PF even knew Edgar Lungu. Many of those claiming today were not there for him,” he said.
He further claimed that he played a significant role in building Mr Lungu’s political image and support base.
“I built the ECL brand. Most of the people speaking today did nothing for him,” Mr Chabinga said.
Mr Chabinga also noted that the party’s current succession disputes are not new, but have their roots in the period immediately following President Sata’s death.
“The wrangles you are seeing today started in 2015. This is not something new,” he said.
He added that despite resistance from some factions within the party, efforts were made to ensure Mr Lungu emerged as PF president.
“There were cartels against him, but we worked hard to make sure he became president of the party,” he said. [ Power FM Zambia]
My Grade 7 Results Were So Good ECZ Made Me Rewrite the Exam- Chabinga
By Muzamba Siandizya
Before Wi-Fi, Google, YouTube tutorials, school was a different kind of battlefield.
Back in the day, learning wasn’t at your fingertips. It lived in chalkboards, dog-eared textbooks and whatever your teacher managed to explain between the bell and the next class. If you missed it, you missed it. You either understood in that moment or you carried that confusion straight into exam season.
Your only lifelines were past papers and your own notes. If something didn’t click in class, you knew deep down that this might come back to haunt you.
On the Kenny T 1 on 1 podcast, Robert Chabinga shares an experience from his Grade 7 days. During his intake, he didn’t just perform well, he emerged as the best student across the entire Copperbelt.
His results were so exceptional that the Examinations Council of Zambia took notice. His performance raised eyebrows to the point where he was asked to retake the exams. Instead of backing down, he stepped up willingly and scored even higher the second time.
It’s stories like these that hit differently. They remind us of where we’ve come from and just how much determination it took to succeed.

Miles Sampa Has Never Been My Friend – Robert Chabinga
By Muzamba Siandizya
In October 2023, Miles Sampa held a controversial convention at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka. There, he was declared the president of the Patriotic Front (PF) party.
But most of the party’s key figures weren’t at Mulungushi. Days later at the memorial of the late President Sata. Late president Edgar Lungu announced he was back in active politics and ready to take over PF again.
When the rest of the party learned what Sampa had done at Mulungushi, the convention was disputed by PF leadership. Many say that was the beginning of total confusion in the party.
Robert Chabinga, later appointed Leader of Opposition in Parliament, stood by Sampa at the time. From the outside, they looked like allies side by side, defending each other during a turbulent period.
But now, Chabinga drops a bombshell: “Miles Sampa has never been my friend.”
How did two men, once seen as close allies, drift apart? What really happened? Were they ever close as we thought or was it a strategy for either Sampa or Chabinga?
The full story, with all the surprises, comes out in tomorrow’s episode of Kenny T 1 on 1 podcast.
LAZ takes back to Constitutional Court matter of Auditor General
LAZ TO RETURN TO COURT TO ADDRESS GOVERNMENT’S CONTINUED VIOLATIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION
The constitutional provision relating to the office of Auditor General
The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) notes with deep concern Govemment’s continued failure to takecorrective measures in line with constitutional requirements regarding the appointment to the office of Auditor General of the Republic of Zambia.
As members of the public will recall, in March 2025, LAZ took the issue of the appointment of theActing Auditor General, Dr Ron Mwambwa (AG), to the Constitutional Court.
The action wasprimarily to challenge the constitutionality of the appointment of the AG in September 2023 by the Republican President and his continued occupation of the said office without parliamentary ratification or requisite recommendation by the State Audit Commission. We contend that, not-withstanding the above, he in fact did not qualify to hold the office on account of being above the prescribed age of Sixty years.
LAZ’s contention was that the purported appointment of the Acting Auditor General announced by a Press Release issued by State House dated 25th September 2023, was a violation of Articles 249(1), 252(1) and 259(1 Xa) of the Constitution (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016 as read with Section 2 of thePublic Audit Act.
These provisions make it mandatory for any person empowered to make a nomination or appointment to a publie office, in this case, the President, to ensure that the person nominated or appointed is qualified to discharge the functions of the office they are being nominated or appointed to.
Following engagements between LAZ and Govemment, and a meeting held with the Solicitor General, on 30th May 2025, the parties reached an understanding that Government would urgently address the issues raised in the petition including the issuance of commencement orders for the State Audit Commission Act, the Public Audit Act as well as appointment of the substantive office holder to the office of the Auditor General, in accordance with the Constitution.
In good faith, and on the strength of those undertakings, LAZ diseontinued the petition before the Constitutional Court. Unfortunately, Government has failed to fully implement the agreed undertakings, and Dr. Ron Mwambwa continues to act as the Auditor General of the Republic. He continues to irregularly draw emoluments and enjoys other benefits for over three years from September 2023,despite repcated follow-ups by LAZ through its lawyers.
In light of the continued failure to implement the agreed undertakings by Govemment, LAZ has resolved to take the matter back to the Constitutional Court for appropriate appropriate pronouncements on this critical matter touching on good governance.
The press release on a matter of national interest, good governance and public accountability, in defence of constitutionality, has been issued in furtherance of LAZ’s mandate under Section 4 of the Law Association of Zambia Act, Chapter 31 of the Laws of Zambia

U.S. Denies Role in Strike on Iran’s South Pars Reports Point to Coordinated Operation With Israel
U.S. President Donald Trump has denied any involvement in the strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field, the largest natural gas reserve in the world, stating that the operation was carried out solely by Israel.
“We knew nothing about it,” Trump said, distancing Washington from the attack.
However, multiple U.S. media outlets, citing sources within the Israeli government, report that the strike was conducted in coordination with the United States, contradicting the official denial.
The escalation marks a shift in Israel’s targeting strategy, moving beyond fuel storage facilities to directly strike oil and gas production sites assets previously avoided due to their global economic sensitivity.
Meanwhile, Iran’s retaliation has already impacted Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial zone, a critical global LNG hub, forcing a temporary suspension of operations and triggering immediate spikes in energy prices.
Analysts warn that sustained damage to such infrastructure could lead to prolonged global gas shortages.
Denial on the surface coordination beneath as energy infrastructure becomes the new frontline of modern conflict.
Iran launches missile strikes on Israel’s largest oil refinery in Haifa
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for launching missile strikes targeting strategic مواقع in Haifa, Israel, on March 19, 2026. The operation was described as retaliation for Israeli airstrikes a day earlier on Iran’s South Pars gas field and processing facilities in Asaluyeh.
According to Iranian statements, the main target was the Bazan Group oil refinery in Haifa Bay — the largest refinery in Israel. Additional reports also indicated possible strikes near Ashdod. Iranian media claimed the use of multiple precision-guided ballistic missiles, including variants such as Kheibar Shekan, Qiam, and Zolfaghar. These claims have not been independently verified.
Initial reports suggest explosions and heavy fires at the refinery site, with damage potentially affecting nearby power infrastructure and causing localized outages in parts of Haifa’s industrial zone. Israeli authorities have not yet released full details regarding the extent of the damage.
The escalation follows reports that Israeli strikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field reduced the country’s gas processing capacity by up to 20%, impacting domestic energy production.
Separately, Iranian sources also claimed strikes targeting energy infrastructure in other countries, including Ras Laffan in Qatar and SAMREF facilities in Saudi Arabia, alleging their involvement in supporting U.S. and Israeli operations. These claims remain unconfirmed.
Global energy markets reacted sharply, with Brent crude reportedly surging past $115 per barrel, while European gas prices spiked significantly amid fears of broader regional disruption.
Netanyahu says Israel to pause strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure at Trump’s request
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Thursday that Israel will temporarily halt strikes on Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure, following a request from U.S. President Donald Trump. The move comes after Israeli forces targeted Iran’s South Pars gas field the world’s largest triggering widespread retaliation and raising concerns over global economic stability.
The decision follows sharp criticism from Trump, who stated the United States had “no involvement” and was not informed in advance of the strikes on Iran’s energy facilities, including the Asaluyeh industrial zone. Speaking during a meeting with Japanese leaders in the Oval Office, Trump said: “I told him not to do it — and he’s not going to do it again,” warning that attacks on energy infrastructure could drive global prices higher and impact civilians.
Speaking in Jerusalem, Netanyahu acknowledged the request, stating: “President Trump asked us to exercise restraint in our next actions, and we are complying with that request.” However, he maintained that Israel’s recent operations had been highly successful, claiming that Iran’s uranium enrichment and missile production capabilities were severely degraded during nearly 20 days of fighting.
Tensions escalated further after Iran retaliated by reportedly launching strikes on energy infrastructure across the region, including LNG facilities in Qatar and oil refineries in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. These claims have not been independently verified. Reports indicate gas exports from the Persian Gulf have dropped significantly, while European gas prices have surged sharply.
The White House has signaled that while energy infrastructure may be temporarily spared, broader strategic objectives including potential regime change in Iran remain under consideration. Trump has described attacks on oil facilities as a “last resort” option, to be used only if Iran attempts to close the Strait of Hormuz or directly targets U.S. allies in the Gulf.
Global attention is now focused on whether Israel’s decision to de-escalate under U.S. pressure will help contain the rapidly intensifying energy conflict, as Iran continues to warn of further retaliation if its sovereignty is violated.
Iran Weighs “Transit Fees” in Strait of Hormuz Move Could Trigger Global Supply Chain Shock
Iran’s parliament is reviewing a proposal to impose transit fees on commercial and oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz, citing sovereign rights and the need to fund maritime security.
The measure is reportedly aimed at vessels from nations Tehran considers “hostile,” particularly those supporting U.S. and Israeli military operations. Lawmakers argue that a significant portion of shipping routes passes through Iranian territorial waters, justifying the move.
If implemented, the policy could send global shipping and energy costs sharply higher, as roughly 20–30% of the world’s oil supply transits through the strait
The proposal is also expected to ignite a major legal dispute under international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which governs navigation rights in strategic waterways.
What appears as a “fee” could function as a geopolitical lever one capable of reshaping global trade flows overnight.
Breaking News: Netanyahu Claims Iran Has Lost Uranium Enrichment and Ballistic Missile Capabilities Amid Ongoing Conflict
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on March 19, 2026, that Iran no longer possesses the capacity to enrich uranium or manufacture ballistic missiles, following extensive strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure during the ongoing conflict.
According to his statement, sustained operations conducted by Israel, alongside reported US involvement, have significantly degraded Iran’s strategic capabilities. Netanyahu described the outcome as a major setback to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, suggesting that key facilities and production chains have been effectively neutralized.
However, independent verification of this claim remains unclear. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, has indicated that Iran may still retain nuclear materials and technical capacity, emphasizing that the full extent of damage cannot be confirmed without on-ground inspections. Additionally, reports suggest that Iran continues to demonstrate some level of operational capability, particularly in missile deployment.
The situation remains fluid, with conflicting narratives emerging from different sides as the conflict continues to evolve. Analysts caution that while significant damage may have been inflicted, completely eliminating such capabilities is difficult to confirm in the absence of independent, transparent assessments.
“In football, the Laws of the Game are clear: the referee on the pitch is the final authority on decisions made during the match. Once play is allowed to continue and the match is completed, the result obtained on the field must stand.
Under the applicable rules of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), match officials have full authority during the game.
CAF regulations are in line with the FIFA Laws of the Game, which provide that: “The referee has full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game in connection with the match to which he has been appointed, and his decisions on facts connected with play are final.
— Law 5, Laws of the Game (applied by all Confederations including CAF competitions). In the present case of the final AFCON match between Senegal and Morocco, the referee allowed the match to continue after the walk-off by Senegal, and the game was completed, including extra time, with a result obtained on the field of play.
Additionally, post match, the referee report noted a stoppage during the match, not a forfieture and recommended appropiate sanctions for the infractions during the match.
For this reason, the subsequent decision by CAF committee, taken after the match had already been concluded, should not override the authority exercised by the referee during the game in keeping with the Laws of the Game – Law 5.
Football must be decided on the pitch, not re-decided after the final whistle. There is therefore no sporting justification to nullify a match that was completed in accordance with the referee’s authority and the Laws of the Game otherwise the beautiful game will head down a slippery slope where committee room officials and not match officials will be making post match rulings to override referees on-field decisions like penalties, offside and red cards.
Where will it end? This decision has further scarred and blemished African football, undermining confidence in the fairness, consistency, and integrity of football on the continent. I call on the court of Arbitration for Sports(CAS) and other relevant authorities to move decisively so that this travesty does not stand.
I also want to use this opportunity to clarify that social media posts widely circulating claiming that I support the decision by CAF Disciplinary Committee against Senegal is blatantly false.
All those circulating my image and attaching same to such fallacious statements are advised to refrain.

NATO Chief Rutte Backs US-Israel Strikes: “Degrading Iran’s Nuclear Capability Is Vital”
BRUSSELS — NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte gave a clear endorsement today to ongoing US and Israeli military actions against Iran, calling them essential for European security, Middle East stability, and Israel’s survival.
In a joint press conference with Romanian President Nicușor Dan, Rutte stated: “In my contacts with allies all over NATO territory, what I’m sensing and hearing is that we agree—as we always did—that it was crucial for Iran not to get its hands on a nuclear capability [or] a ballistic missile capability. And what the US [and Israel are] at this moment [doing] is degrading that capability of Iran, and I think that’s very important. This is important for European security, for [the] Middle East. It is vital for Israel itself.”
He added that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a direct threat to Israel’s future, the broader region, and Europe.
On the Strait of Hormuz, blocked by Iran amid the escalating conflict and disrupting 20 percent of global oil flows, Rutte stressed urgency: “Then when it comes to the Hormuz Strait: everybody agrees this strait cannot stay closed. It has to open up again as soon as possible. This [is] a crucial [world] economy.”
Rutte noted that NATO allies are in intense discussions with the United States and among themselves to find the best path forward on this major security and economic issue. He expressed confidence that allies will act in support of shared interests.
The comments come as President Trump has voiced frustration with some NATO partners’ hesitation to help reopen the vital waterway, highlighting tensions within the alliance during the US-Israeli campaign against Tehran. Rutte’s remarks signal strong backing for the strikes while emphasizing collective NATO consultation rather than direct alliance involvement in the conflict.
Ismaila Sarr is hilariously refusing to hand over his Africa Cup of Nations winner’s medal – or cash bonus – to Crystal Palace team-mate Chadi Riad 👀
In truly astonishing news, the result of the Afcon final was reversed by the Confederation of African Football on Tuesday.
Sarr came off the bench in the final and had the perfect view of Pape Gueye’s stunning winner. Senegal vowed to appeal the shock ruling and are keeping hold of the trophy – and Sarr is clinging on to his personal silverware too
Three-cap defender Riad was not in Morocco’s Afcon squad, but Palace boss Oliver Glasner still saw the funny side, saying 🗣️ “I must smile and laugh. I didn’t realise Morocco went to CAF. I have to be careful because we have one Moroccan and one Senegalese player in our squad.
“I just had a look to see if Ismaila gave the gold medal to Chadi Riad now but he didn’t. I also said to him, ‘Maybe you have to send your bonus to Chadi’s account,’ but he said he won’t. Isma was also laughing about it. I think it’s a weird situation, honestly.”
“ZIMBABWE SHAKES GLOBAL POWER BALANCE? CHINA ISSUES WARNING TO ITS CITIZENS AS HARSH NEW MINING RULES HIT — IS HARARE TURNING AWAY FROM BEIJING AND LOOKING TOWARD THE USA?”
, especially around key minerals like lithium.
Now, the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe has stepped in — warning its companies and citizens to be extra cautious, follow local laws, and prepare for sudden risks.
This comes as:
Zimbabwe pushes to stop exporting raw minerals
Foreign companies are being forced to process resources inside the country
Billions in foreign investments — especially from China — are now under pressure
💥 For years, China has been one of Zimbabwe’s biggest economic partners… But these new moves are raising serious questions:
👉 Is Zimbabwe tightening control over its resources — or 👉 Is this a sign of a bigger geopolitical shift?
Some analysts believe: Zimbabwe could be trying to rebalance its global alliances, possibly opening doors to Western partners like the United States.
Others warn: This could backfire, scare off investors, and trigger economic tension.
⚖️ The big question:
👉 Is Zimbabwe making a bold move for economic independence? OR 👉 Is it risking its relationship with China for uncertain new alliances?
Bessent: U.S. to Use Iranian Oil Against Iran, Flood Market to Crush Prices
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent laid out a tough, pragmatic plan on Fox Business to blunt soaring oil prices amid the conflict with Iran. The U.S. is prepared to unsanction roughly 140 million barrels of Iranian crude already loaded and floating at sea, turning Tehran’s own oil into a weapon to keep global markets stable and deny economic wins to the regime and its main buyer, China.
In his interview with Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria,” Bessent described a coordinated administration strategy that mirrors the earlier approach with Russian oil.
Bessent stated: “Maria, to be clear, this is a coordinated effort. We had a break-the-glass plan across the administration and at Treasury. We unsanctioned Russian oil. We knew that there were about 130 million barrels on the water, and we created supply that is beyond the Straits of Hormuz. So we anticipated this. We knew that there could be a temporary—and I want to emphasize temporary—chokepoint there, and there was 130 million barrels of floating storage. In the coming days we may unsanction the Iranian oil that’s on the water to about 140 million barrels. So depending how you count it is 10-2 weeks supply that Iranians had been pushing out would have all gone [to] China. In essence will be using the Iranian barrel against Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers—we’ve got plenty more that we can do.”
He continued: “The largest coordinated SPR release in history, 400 million barrels, was approved last week and some countries are going to do more but you know what? The US could unilaterally do another SPR release to keep the price down. As you will have noted, WTI and its European counterpart Brent had substantially diverged over the past few trading sessions. You know they were trading right on top of each other last week. And this is because the US, thanks to President Trump in his first term [and] continuing efforts here, is virtually energy independent. Yeah. When President Trump says our allies should join us [in] any coalition along the straits from Hormuz [to] close that they’re the ones who need this oil. The US, we are an oil exporter.”
The move avoids direct intervention in futures markets, focusing instead on physical supply boosts to protect American consumers and allies from price shocks while maintaining pressure on Iran. No new sanctions relief for Iran’s onshore production or regime coffers—just smart use of existing cargoes to hit the regime where it hurts: economically. America First energy policy in action.

Iranian Missiles Slam Israeli Targets – Haifa Refinery Burns, Mossad HQ Hit in Massive Overnight Strike
Tehran unleashed a heavy barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Israeli military and energy infrastructure late March 18 into early March 19, 2026.
Confirmed impacts include:
– Direct strike on the Haifa oil refinery complex, triggering massive secondary fires visible for miles – Reported hits near Mossad headquarters in the Tel Aviv area – Additional strikes on military bases and airfields across central and northern Israel
CCTV-sourced footage circulating on X shows multiple bright explosions lighting up the night sky, followed by raging infernos and thick black smoke rising over industrial zones. Emergency crews can be seen responding under red emergency lighting.
Israeli authorities have so far confirmed four deaths from the strikes. Early unverified claims circulating on Arabic-language accounts put the toll dramatically higher – over 1,100 killed and 1,500–2,000 injured – but those numbers remain unsupported by official sources or major international outlets at this hour.
The attack marks the most significant direct Iranian strike on Israeli soil since the escalation began, coming amid rapidly deteriorating regional security. Both sides are bracing for further retaliation in what is now being described as open warfare between the two countries.
The Iranian regime is crumbling from within under President Trump’s unrelenting pressure.
In a White House discussion captured on video, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent laid out the stark reality: defections are happening at every level as Iran’s rulers sense the end is near.
Bessent stated: “We are seeing defections at all levels as they’re starting to sense what’s going on with the regime… The regime will probably collapse within itself. At the Treasury Department, we’ve seen where they’ve wired their money out of the country. We’re coming for that. We’re going to get it back to the Iranian people.”
President Trump jumped in with characteristic bluntness: “There’s a lot of military defections also… I don’t blame them.”
The mullahs’ grip is slipping fast—military ranks fracturing, funds fleeing, morale in freefall amid unpaid wages and chaos. Trump’s maximum pressure campaign is delivering results: the terror regime is collapsing under its own weight, and America is poised to return stolen wealth to the Iranian people.
Trump Strikes at Illegal Immigration’s Money Lifeline: Banks May Soon Verify Citizenship for Every Account
The Trump administration is gearing up for one of the most effective immigration enforcement moves yet—requiring U.S. banks to verify the citizenship status of **all** customers, including those with existing accounts. This isn’t speculation; it’s straight from CNN’s own reporting in late February 2026.
CNN anchor Omar Jimenez kicked off the segment: “Trump could soon force banks to take part in an immigration crackdown. What I mean by that is sources tell CNN the administration is considering requiring financial institutions to collect and verify their customers’ citizenship status—something banks aren’t currently required to do. One source says the new policy could come through an executive order.”
Handing off to reporter Matt Egan, Jimenez asked how banks are reacting. Egan laid it out plainly: “Yeah, well Omar, this does appear to be part of the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration crackdown. Sources tell CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez and I that the administration is considering new action that would require banks to check the citizenship status of their customers. Now, this would be something that would actually apply not just on a go-forward basis but it would be stunning when you think about just how many customers the banks already have.”
Egan continued: “Now this action could also require banks to check different categories of documents than what they normally look at, including passports. I do want to stress that nothing here has been announced or finalized. It’s not clear whether or not this will come in the form of an executive order or some other action. We reached out to the White House and a spokesperson said that any reporting on policy that hasn’t been officially announced is just speculation.”
He noted support from Sen. Tom Cotton, who posted on X: “I strongly support President Trump taking action to prevent illegal migrants from accessing our banking system.” Cotton had sent a letter to Treasury last fall pushing for this exact step.
The banking industry? They’re panicking. Egan reported: “Officially they’re not really saying much. Representatives from major banks, from bank trade groups—they haven’t commented on this.
However, sources do tell CNN that the industry is concerned here because they’re worried that it could almost compel them to be part of the administration’s immigration crackdown.
One financial industry source told me that verifying every bank customer’s citizenship status would be unworkable… it’s a bad idea. We are very alarmed.”
Banks currently follow anti-money laundering and know-your-customer rules, but citizenship isn’t tracked. Egan added: “So if this did become official, that would certainly be a significant change.
There’s also some questions about whether or not this could discourage immigrants—even undocumented immigrants—from keeping their money in the bank. They do play a significant role in this economy.
In 2023 alone, undocumented [immigrants] paid $90 billion in federal, state, and local taxes and they had spending power of nearly $300 billion.”
House Passes BOWOW Act: Automatic Deportation for Non-Citizens Who Harm Federal Working Dogs
In a strong 228-190 vote today, the U.S. House approved the BOWOW Act (H.R. 4638), making any non-citizen who assaults or harms a federal law enforcement animal immediately deportable. This common-sense measure protects our loyal K9 heroes and sends a clear message: attack America’s working dogs, lose your privilege to be here.
The bill was sparked by a disgusting June 2025 incident at Dulles Airport. Egyptian traveler Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie kicked CBP beagle Freddie hard enough to lift the heroic dog off the ground after Freddie sniffed out over 100 pounds of smuggled prohibited food in his luggage.
Freddie recovered, the smuggler pleaded guilty to federal charges, paid vet bills, and was deported—but the outrage rightly led to stronger protections.
Nearly every Republican stood up for four-legged officers, while most Democrats voted no.
US Airstrikes Hit IRGC Missile Base in Southern Iran
US and Israeli forces struck an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps missile facility in Borazjan, Bushehr Province, southern Iran, late on March 19, 2026. Reports indicate multiple explosions, fires, and secondary detonations from ammunition at the site
The attack fits the ongoing campaign to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and military infrastructure. Multiple sources, including live maps and regional observers, confirm strikes on the IRGC base, with footage showing nighttime blasts and heavy smoke over the desert location.
No official US statement has detailed the operation yet, but the pattern aligns with prior precision efforts against IRGC assets since the conflict escalated on February 28.
The Borazjan site has faced repeated hits in recent weeks as part of broader efforts to limit Tehran’s retaliatory options.
Iran can’t use SWIFT. Can’t transfer dollars. Can’t use the global banking system – How are they still buying weapons?
Western sanctions have cut Iran off from every conventional payment mechanism on earth.
So how is a country under the most severe financial isolation in modern history still funding a war — 19 days and counting?
Oil.
Not oil sales. Oil barter.
Here’s how it actually works.
China buys 90% of Iran’s oil exports. That’s confirmed — including the approximately 11.7 million barrels that kept flowing to China through the Strait of Hormuz even after Iran blocked everyone else.
China was buying that oil at $8-10 per barrel below global prices — saving an estimated $5.8 billion per year at minimum.
But Iran can’t receive payment in dollars. Can’t receive payment by wire. Can’t use any normal banking channel.
So what does China give Iran instead?
According to the Wall Street Journal: construction.
Airports. Refineries. Transport networks.
Chinese companies build the infrastructure. Iran ships oil as payment.
A barter-style system specifically designed to evade Western sanctions.
And according to a $5 billion pre-war deal reported by Reuters: weapons.
Anti-ship missiles. Surface-to-air systems. Kamikaze drones. Radars. Delivered from China’s own PLA inventory.
Weapons go in. Oil comes out.
Now here’s the part Israel understood:
America has been bombing Iran’s military infrastructure for 19 days.
But America deliberately left Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure alone.
President Trump said it directly.
America was bombing Kharg Island’s military sites — but left the oil terminals untouched “for reasons of decency.”
America’s logic: don’t destroy the oil. Keep the pressure military. Avoid an energy catastrophe.
Israel’s logic is different.
Israel doesn’t care about global oil prices.
Israel wants to end the regime.
And Israel figured out: if you destroy Iran’s oil and gas — you don’t just hurt Iran’s economy.
You cut off the payment for Chinese weapons.
That’s what I’ve been saying for the last few days. Maybe Israel & USA are not on the same page on strategy?
Israel wants this:
– No oil flowing to China. – No payment to China. – No more weapons from China.
That is why Israel struck South Pars — the world’s largest natural gas field — on March 18th.
To cut the supply chain.
China’s response confirmed the theory.
China publicly condemned the South Pars strike.
China has been unusually loud about protecting energy infrastructure.
China refused to help the US reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
China kept receiving Iranian oil throughout the entire war while every other country got their ships attacked.
As The Diplomat confirmed: China’s involvement “prolonged Iran’s resistance by improving its situational awareness.”
An Atlantic Council researcher put it plainly: with the IRGC controlling up to 50% of Iran’s oil export revenues — that income “is effectively funding its military operations.”
Destroy the oil. End the funding. End the weapons supply.
That is Israel’s calculation.
And now the energy war has fully begun.
Israel hit South Pars.
Iran hit Ras Laffan — wiping out 17% of Qatar’s LNG capacity for 3-5 years.
Iran’s foreign minister said Iran showed “FRACTION of our power” and will show “ZERO restraint” if struck again.
🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 Baltics enthusiastic—navies even smaller. Stockpiles already cleaned out by Ukraine. Any support “strictly symbolic.”
The reality:
🇫🇷 Macron: Help only after hostilities cease 🇩🇪 Pistorius: “What can European frigates accomplish that US Navy cannot?” 🇵🇱 Tusk: “No expedition to Iran”
Trump to Zelensky: “Last person we need help from.”
Saudi Arabia Warns It “Reserves the Right to Use Military Force” After Repeated Energy Attacks
Saudi Arabia has warned that it reserves the right to take military action against Iran following continued attacks on its energy infrastructure.
Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud stated that Iran must “reconsider its miscalculations,” emphasizing that such attacks will not serve Tehran’s interests “in any way.”
He added that Iran appears unwilling to engage in constructive dialogue with neighboring countries, instead attempting to exert pressure a strategy he warned would ultimately backfire.
The Saudi government stressed that it “reserves the right to respond militarily if necessary” to defend its sovereignty and protect critical energy assets.
The message is no longer diplomatic it’s a prelude to potential escalation, where retaliation is now openly on the table.
IRGC releases images of multiple missile launches under “True Promise 4”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released images showing the launch of multiple medium-range ballistic missiles as part of its ongoing operation “True Promise 4,” specifically waves 63, 64, and 65.
According to Iranian claims, the missiles included Ghadr, Qadr, Emad, Kheibar Shekan, Khorramshahr-4, as well as a newly introduced system referred to as “Nasrallah,” described as featuring enhanced precision guidance and reportedly used in combat for the first time.
The IRGC stated that the strikes targeted Israeli territory, including the Bazan Group oil refinery in Haifa, along with U.S. military bases across the Middle East. These claims have not been independently verified.
Breaking News : China Claims ‘Flaw’ in America’s B-21 Stealth Bomber Using Advanced Simulation Tool
Chinese scientists have reportedly identified potential weaknesses in the United States’ next-generation stealth bomber, the B-21 Raider, using a newly developed high-end simulation platform, sparking fresh debate in the global military technology race.
According to emerging reports, researchers from the China Aerodynamics Research and Development Centre used an advanced computational system known as PADJ-X to model the aerodynamic behavior of the B-21 Raider. The software integrates multiple disciplines including aerodynamics, propulsion, electromagnetics, infrared signature, and sonic boom analysis into a unified simulation framework.
The Chinese study claims that the bomber’s flying-wing design may present potential aerodynamic and stability limitations under certain conditions. Using adjoint optimization techniques, researchers reportedly simulated improvements in lift-to-drag ratio by around 15 percent, suggesting that minor design adjustments could theoretically enhance performance.
The analysis was conducted using publicly available images and inferred design characteristics of the aircraft, as the B-21’s actual technical specifications remain highly classified. Researchers examined airflow behavior, stability across different flight regimes, and structural performance through digital modeling rather than real-world testing.
However, defense experts have raised strong skepticism over these claims. Analysts note that such findings are entirely theoretical and based on incomplete data, as critical aspects of the B-21 such as its flight-control systems, materials, and exact aerodynamic configuration are not publicly known.
Modern stealth aircraft like the B-21 are also designed to be inherently unstable and rely on highly advanced flight-control computers to maintain stability, meaning that any apparent “flaws” in simulations may already be compensated for in the real aircraft.
The B-21 Raider, developed by Northrop Grumman, is expected to become the backbone of the U.S. Air Force’s future bomber fleet. Designed for long-range penetrating strikes, including both conventional and nuclear missions, the aircraft is intended to operate in heavily defended airspace against near-peer adversaries such as China and Russia.
The development also highlights a broader trend in modern warfare, where nations increasingly use digital engineering and high-performance computing to analyze and counter rival military technologies without direct access to classified data.
While China’s claims have drawn global attention, experts emphasize that without access to real design data or operational testing, such conclusions remain speculative and should be treated with caution.
South Africa’s 🇿🇦 Sports Minister, Gayton McKenzie, hit back at Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney after he called the 2010 World Cup the worst he’d ever attended.
Rooney said the tournament “never felt like a World Cup” because of the lack of atmosphere.
McKenzie replied sharply, pointing out England’s heavy loss: “Of course it felt bad – you got knocked out 4-1 by Germany.”
Picture 1: During the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, after England’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Algeria, Rooney walked off the pitch and sarcastically shouted to a TV camera, “Nice to see your own fans booing you,” after England fans booed the team.
Iran Backs South Africa Call for BRICS Pressure Offers Safe Passage for “Friendly” Trade
Iran’s ambassador to South Africa has expressed strong support for Pretoria’s stance against recent military actions, calling on BRICS nations to increase pressure on what he described as “aggressors” and push for an end to hostilities.
Speaking to reporters, Ambassador Mansour Shakib Mehr said Tehran appreciates South Africa’s condemnation of the attacks and its decision not to sever diplomatic ties despite pressure from Washington.
He stated that Iran is maintaining open communication channels and has not fully blocked the Strait of Hormuz, allowing passage for “friendly nations” such as China and India. However, he emphasized that vessels linked to the United States and Israel could face restrictions.
Mehr added that Iran is prepared to actively support South Africa in ensuring safe transit for its goods and oil shipments through the region.
He further urged BRICS members to take a unified stance, warning that recent actions including what he described as unlawful operations by the United States could set a dangerous precedent affecting other nations in the bloc.
A widening geopolitical alignment is taking shape where trade routes, alliances, and pressure blocs are becoming tools of strategic resistance.
Wayne Rooney: “You are not getting a WORSE World Cup than South Africa in 2010. That tournament NEVER felt like a World Cup.”
Rooney, who represented England at the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament, says it does not get worse than that edition in South Africa.
He started every match before England were eliminated in the round of 16, playing against the USA, Algeria, Slovenia, and Germany. He did not register a single goal or assist during the tournament, as per Transfermarkt
Wayne Rooney has risked the ire of South African fans after revisiting his experience at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, offering a blunt assessment of the tournament.
Looking back on the tournament in South Africa, Rooney did not sugar-coat his feelings, saying: “It doesn’t get worse than that.” The former England striker was reflecting on both his own performances and the team’s struggles on the global stage
Speaking on the YouTube channel The Overlap, Rooney said: “You are not getting worse than South Africa.
“We were travelling to the USA game, the first game. [While] we were driving to the game, it was pitch black, there’s no fans there.
“The way you normally go to welcome the fans, [the atmosphere] it was nothing.
Breaking News : Russia Deploys Two-Thirds of Nuclear Submarine Fleet to Arctic, US Forced to Reassess Deterrence Strategy
Russia has significantly escalated its strategic posture in the Arctic by concentrating nearly two-thirds of its sea-based nuclear deterrent in the region, according to assessments from the U.S. Intelligence Community’s 2026 Annual Threat Assessment.
The report highlights that Moscow has deployed approximately seven nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines at bases along the Kola Peninsula, a key hub of Russia’s Northern Fleet. This concentration forms the backbone of Russia’s second-strike nuclear capability, ensuring survivability and retaliation capacity in the event of a nuclear conflict.
By positioning such a large portion of its nuclear submarine force within Arctic bastions, Russia is leveraging the region’s geography and harsh conditions to shield its assets from detection. The Arctic environment, combined with layered defenses including naval, air, and surveillance systems, complicates NATO and U.S. efforts to track and neutralize these submarines.
This shift is now forcing the United States to rethink its deterrence strategy, particularly in the North Atlantic and Arctic theaters. The traditional advantage held by Western anti-submarine warfare capabilities is being challenged as Russia strengthens its underwater nuclear shield and expands its operational footprint in the High North.
The Kola Peninsula remains central to this strategy, hosting a large share of Russia’s strategic assets, including submarine bases, airfields, and advanced missile systems. The growing militarization of the Arctic reflects Moscow’s long-term focus on securing its nuclear deterrent while asserting dominance over emerging strategic routes and resources in the region.
Super Micro Co-Founder Charged in $2.5 Billion AI Server Smuggling Scheme to China
U.S. authorities arrested Yih-Shyan “Wally” Liaw, co-founder and senior executive of Super Micro Computer, on March 19, 2026, along with one associate, while a third remains at large. According to the Department of Justice indictment, Liaw and two others conspired to divert approximately $2.5 billion in high-performance servers containing restricted Nvidia AI chips to China between 2024 and 2025, in violation of U.S. export controls.
The scheme allegedly involved routing shipments through a Southeast Asian shell company, using fake documents, staging thousands of non-functional “dummy” servers to deceive company auditors, and even swapping serial number stickers with a hair dryer, as captured on surveillance footage. In one three-week period in spring 2025, prosecutors say $510 million worth of servers reached Chinese buyers.
Liaw, who holds roughly $464 million in Super Micro stock, faces charges that carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. Super Micro itself is not charged in the case; the company placed the involved employees on leave, terminated its relationship with the contractor, and stated it is cooperating with investigators.
Super Micro shares fell about 12% in after-hours trading following the news. The case underscores ongoing U.S. efforts to enforce export restrictions on advanced AI technology amid national security concerns.
Breaking News: Iran Claims ‘Majid’ Infrared Missile Downed Israeli F-35 Stealth Fighter in Major Air Combat Assertion
Iranian sources have claimed that a domestically developed air defense system equipped with the “Majid” heat-seeking missile has successfully shot down an Israeli F-35 stealth fighter, marking one of the most significant assertions yet regarding the vulnerability of fifth-generation aircraft in contested airspace.
According to details reported by Military Watch Magazine, the engagement allegedly involved Iran’s short-range air defense system using infrared-guided missiles designed specifically to counter low-observable targets. The Majid missile is described as a heat-seeking interceptor capable of engaging aerial threats without relying on radar emissions, a feature that could theoretically reduce the effectiveness of stealth technology by targeting thermal signatures instead.
The report states that the system is optimized for mobile deployment and close-range engagements, allowing it to ambush aircraft operating at low or medium altitudes. Iranian defense sources claim that such systems are part of a broader layered air defense network aimed at countering advanced Western aircraft, including stealth fighters.
The claim emerges amid ongoing high-intensity hostilities in the region, where both sides have increasingly relied on advanced aerial platforms. The F-35 Lightning II is widely regarded as one of the most advanced combat aircraft in service, designed with stealth shaping, electronic warfare systems, and sensor fusion to evade and defeat sophisticated air defenses.
However, it is important to note that such claims of F-35 shootdowns have surfaced multiple times in past conflicts and have often remained unverified or disputed by opposing parties.
The latest report highlights a growing emphasis on infrared and passive detection systems as a potential counter to stealth technology, suggesting that future air combat may increasingly revolve around multi-spectrum detection rather than traditional radar-based tracking alone.
As of now, there has been no independent confirmation from Israeli or Western sources regarding the alleged shootdown, and the full circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Netanyahu Debunks Death Rumors: “I’m Alive, and You’re All Witnesses”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed persistent online rumors of his death amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, appearing in a short video clip released on March 19, 2026.
In the statement, Netanyahu directly confronted the speculation spread by Iranian state media and social media accounts.
“First of all, I just want to say: I’m alive, and you’re all witnesses.”
The brief appearance drew immediate attention on X, where users noted the empty room behind him and the lack of any visible audience or reaction, fueling further debate over whether the clip was genuine or AI-generated.
The remarks come as Israel and the United States continue joint military operations against Iranian targets, with Netanyahu emphasizing resolve in recent addresses.
Despite multiple videos posted in recent days—including meetings with U.S. officials and casual settings—skeptics persist, but the latest clip serves as a clear denial of the claims.
A senior Houthi official appeared on television warning Arab states not to intercept missiles launched by Iran or its allies, declaring fresh attacks “coming soon.”
The statement, broadcast on Al Jazeera Arabic, signals Yemen’s Iran-backed militants may soon join the escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict directly—potentially turning nine active fronts into ten.
With Gulf states already intercepting Iranian drones and missiles targeting their territory, the Houthis are positioning themselves as enforcers for Tehran. Their Red Sea location gives them leverage to disrupt shipping and threaten Saudi Arabia and the UAE once more
The region stands on the edge of wider chaos as proxies mobilize and warnings multiply.
DETAILS OF THE AIRPORT INTERROGATION REVEALS WHY MUNDULE HAS BEEN DETAINED
By KBN TV Reporter
It has emerged that police interrogations of Brian Mundubile at the airport wanted to establish allegations that he was planning activities likely to disturbilise the country.
The Mundubile team present during the airport interrogation confirmed to KBN TV that police queried him on when he last spoke to Mwata Kazembe, Valden Findlay, Sparks, former intelligence DG, Saviour Chungu, Moses Katumbi and the former DRC President Joseph Kabila.
Plain clothed Police officers who introduced themselves as having come from the intelligence, asked Mundubile if he knew a village called Kashobwe in the DRC, to which he refuted any knowledge of the place.
” By mentioning Kashobwe and asking when he last spoke to Mwata, it appears the officers were trying to bring His Roral Highness as a link between Mundubile and Katumbi,” a source close to the interrogation told KBN TV.
In his response, Mundubile refuted having held any such talks or planning any activities that could distabilise the nation.
“How could I plan to harm the same country that I’m planning to govern,” Mundubile is reported to have told the interrogating team.
Sources say Police are planning to slap him with Seditious practices and hate speech but since they moved him from the airport to Ibex Police, they have not formally arrested or charged him with any offense as at 11pm.
A member of his legal team indicated that authorities were still debating whether to detain him overnight or release him so that he can be presented properly after a police call-out.
“We are concerned that they moved him from the airport to Ibex Police Station without a call-out,” one lawyer told KBN TV.
There has been police reinforcement as Mundubile supporters continue to swell in numbers chanting ” we want peace.”
GOVT BLOCKS MUNDUBILE FROM TRAVELLING AS HE IS TAKEN TO IBEX HILL POLICE
State agents at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport today held Tonse Alliance president Brian Mundubile and blocked from traveling for unknown reasons.
After many hours of detention at KKIA, Mundubile has been taken to Ibex Hill police station for questioning and possible detention.
Police are yet to state the reasons for the decision to block the opposition leader from traveling and his move to Ibex Police Station.
BRIAN MUNDUBILE WRITES:
I’m currently at Ibex Hill police station, where I’ve been brought in for questioning. I want to assure the nation that I’m cooperating fully with the authorities. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I have more information. Thanks for your support.
