CAN THE PATRIOTIC FRONT CHANGE ITS CHARACTER?

CAN THE PATRIOTIC FRONT CHANGE ITS CHARACTER?

It has become necessary to address what seems to be on-going failure by the Patriotic Front (PF) to take significant steps to resolve two major issues.

The first one that of creating conditions, aside from their court drama, for choosing a substantive President of the party. After losing power in 2021,  the PF failed to face reality and choose a new leader, engaging in the kind of indecision that is legendary.

The leadership that had failed to deal with internal lawlessness and violence against citizens, causing Zambians to reject the party at the polls, simply refused to give way to a new team. They fashioned a claim that they  would do so after a postmortem. Then they clutched onto a recommendation that the party should rebrand. But as many, including Kantanshi MP Anthony Mumba, asked, how can you rebrand the party with the same failed leaders at the top.

The PF leaders’ intransigence over this matter led to the frustration of many young members who wanted to take up leadership and rescue the party. It was this same frustration that drove Miles Sampa into the eager arms of the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), and the rest is history.

Now faced with an even more urgent need to choose a President and start actual mobilisation towards the 2026 elections, the PF is exhibiting the same, if not worse, form of procrastination.

Nearly a month after Secretary General Raphael Nakachinda announced the start of choosing lower level party executive committees, there is very little sign of grassroots activity in this regard. Instead, the PF Central Committee appears to be more keen to send a delegation to “brief” the family of late Sixth President Edgar Lungu, who was also  PF President.

This makes as much political sense as a management of a company that has lost its CEO taking off to “brief” the family of the deceased before advertising the job for his replacement. Why not send a delegation to start countrywide tours to brief grassroots members on preparations for the coming convention and crucial elections?

Meanwhile, one candidate for the PF presidency, Brian Mundubile, is under attack for “wanting to disadvantage others”, in a process being run by SG Nakachinda and Acting President Given Lubinda. How is that even possible? Is this not just classic PF?

Given Lubinda himself seems ready to contest for the position. The PF internal crises have presented Lubinda, as Acting President, with an opportunity to show what exceptional leadership capabilities he possesses. Thus far, he has not distinguished himself. If the silence that has ensued after Nakachinda’s call for party executive committees is anything to go by, people may have reason to ask whether there is a realistic chance of a PF national conference actually taking place in November, 2025.

Here is the second major issue – the incessant claim by the PF of being the “Anchor Party” of the Tonse Alliance. With all the evidence of its own troubles with the leadership election process, the anchor may not hold for too long, and this ship could rock sooner than later.

Granted the PF has the most number of opposition members of parliament. There is also a very strong suspicion that its grassroots membership countrywide still exists, and is envied by both the UPND and other parties. But those PF grassroots members are fast resembling sheep without a shepherd. They need a new  PF President fast, to re-mobilise them into a real anchor party for the alliance, and for its own chances of reclaiming the seats they currently hold.

But why this interest in PF affairs? The short answer is patriotism.

Zambia’s democracy is under threat from the Big Bully political tactics employed by President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party For National Development (UPND) in the last four years. The country’s democratic system is chocking because Hichilema has sucked out its oxygen through lawfare, undermining state institutions, passing draconian cyber laws, arresting opposition leaders and other critics, and preventing the opposition from holding public rallies in the last four years.

In the fight to rescue Zambia’s democracy, the PF is in a  very valuable space. But perpetuating its leadership confusion through indecision may soon scuttle the strategic value of the position the party holds.

Like Mordecai told Esther in the Bible, she had been raised to become Queen for the deliverance of her people the Jews, and then warned her:

“But if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then shall enlargement and deliverance come to the Jews from another place…”.

On both the issues raised above, the PF needs to shape up, so that this party does not become a distraction in the efforts by millions of Zambians to rescue the country from UPND misrule.

In short, the PF should not become an impediment as millions of Zambians prepare to correct what has gone wrong in the last four years.

MUMBI PHIRI’S DENIAL OF RECEIVING US$20,000 FROM WILLAH MUDOLO SPARKS FRESH CONTROVERSY

MUMBI PHIRI’S DENIAL OF RECEIVING US$20,000 FROM WILLAH MUDOLO SPARKS FRESH CONTROVERSY

By Chilufya Kasonde

A fresh wave of controversy has erupted following former Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri’s strong denial that she ever received US$20,000 from South Africa-based Zambian businessman and PF presidential aspirant Willah Joseph Mudolo.

Phiri made her remarks when she called in to contribute on the “Emmanuel Mwamba Verified” podcast, which featured Mudolo as a guest. During the live broadcast, Phiri insisted that she had never received any money from Mudolo and dismissed the reports as false and malicious.

However, individuals close to the ongoing PF internal power struggles insist that the transaction indeed took place during Phiri’s recent visit to South Africa, where she is alleged to have met Mudolo. According to these sources, the funds were reportedly meant to support party mobilization activities, although the specifics remain disputed.

Adding to the controversy, it has emerged that during the podcast, Phiri misled listeners by claiming that she was calling from Chongwe in Zambia, when in fact, she was reportedly in South Africa, the same country where she had recently met Mudolo.

In response to the public exchange, Mudolo maintained a measured and composed tone, stating that he was not in the habit of publicizing when he gives financial support to others. “Whenever I give money to people, I do not go about telling others or the world about it,” Mudolo said, emphasizing that his assistance to various individuals within the party was purely out of goodwill and a commitment to strengthening the PF’s position.

Analysts have further pointed out that this episode underscores deeper issues of transparency and accountability in political dealings within opposition circles, as the former ruling party faces mounting pressure to redefine its leadership and strategic direction.

The matter continues to fuel debate among PF members and the wider public, exposing widening cracks and competing ambitions within the party’s top ranks.

SANGWA THE MAN THE LEGAL MIND

Chadwick Shawa Shares;

“SANGWA THE MAN THE LEGAL MIND

John Sangwa has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to various issues. It is quite amusing to observe how certain zealots from a particular organization have embarked on a campaign to disparage a distinguished individual of his stature.

For those of us who have closely followed politics over the years, even prior to the formation of UPND and PF, John Sangwa’s presence has always lingered in our minds.

This is the same individual who, alongside his legal partner Counsel Robert Simeza, undertook the defense of the former President of Zambia FJT MHSRIP. Their actions were perceived as unpatriotic by some, particularly in light of the numerous revelations regarding FJT’s dealings during his tenure.

However, it is essential to recognize that their involvement was purely a client-business arrangement, a common practice in the legal profession.

Furthermore, John Sangwa also played a role in the petition concerning President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Ironically, the same individuals who are now disparaging him previously regarded him as a hero.

The petition ultimately failed, and President Edgar Chagwa Lungu was permitted to run. As a senior counsel, John Sangwa had no choice but to abide by the court’s decision, despite any personal reservations he may have held.

His subsequent remarks, acknowledging President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s eligibility to run, were a testament to his commitment to upholding the law, rather than allowing personal emotions to influence his stance.

Given his extensive experience in constitutional matters, John Sangwa is well within his rights to comment, participate, and contribute to any political discourse.

His perspectives on constitutionalism are guided by a strong sense of patriotism, driven by his expertise as a scholar in constitutional law. As a Zambian academic, he feels compelled to speak out when he perceives injustices or irregularities.

Rather than being inconsistent, John Sangwa has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to upholding the law and promoting constitutionalism. 

CHINGOLA MP CHIPOKA MULENGA RESPONDS TO NHANGA CONSTITUENCY HOPEFUL ‘MACKY 2’ DONATION SEIZURE

By Chamuka Shalubala

UPND Chingola Member of Parliament, Chipoka Mulenga, says while it is commendable for individuals to contribute to the development of key sectors such as education and health, such efforts must always meet established standards.

Commenting on the seizure of educational materials donated by aspiring Nchanga Member of Parliament, Mulaza Kaira, popularly known as Macky 2, Mr. Mulenga says he would not pass judgment on the Ministry of Education’s decision as he was not fully aware of the criteria or circumstances surrounding the matter.

He has stressed that institutions operate under specific rules and policies that must be respected even by those seeking to support national development.

Mr. Mulenga has further urged stakeholders from political, social, and private sectors to take an active role in national development, commending the UPND government for fostering what he described as a more civil and ideas-driven political atmosphere.

He has however maintained that while citizen participation in development is welcome, it must always conform to national standards and procedures.

HH CALLS FOR UNITY, DISCIPLINE AND A STRONGER MANDATE IN 2026

HH CALLS FOR UNITY, DISCIPLINE AND A STRONGER MANDATE IN 2026

Lusaka, Saturday, October, 12, 2025 — President Hakainde Hichilema has called on Zambians to give the UPND an even stronger mandate in the 2026 general elections by voting for the party’s candidates at parliamentary and local government levels.

Speaking during a meeting with UPND provincial, district, and constituency officials from across Lusaka Province at Mulungushi Conference Centre, President Hichilema said a clear majority in Parliament and local councils would enhance good governance and accelerate development.

“Every vote must go toward strengthening the UPND at all levels. When our MPs and councillors work in harmony with government, delivery becomes faster and more effective,” he said.

The President highlighted the New Dawn Administration’s achievements, including free education, which has enabled over 2.3 million children to return to school, and the abolition of examination fees.

He said funds previously spent on luxury ministerial vehicles have been redirected to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which has increased from K1.6 million to K40 million per constituency.

He also reaffirmed government’s commitment to retirees’ welfare, noting that those who once slept at the Ministry of Finance awaiting payment have now been settled.

On the economy, President Hichilema said Zambia has emerged as the first country to complete debt restructuring since 2020, creating room for growth and investment. Despite the worst drought in living memory, the economy has continued to grow at 5.6% per annum, with no deaths from hunger recorded.

“If it were not for the people of Zambia, I would have died in prison. That is why we must always serve the people first,” he said.

The Head of State also assured citizens that government is addressing power shortages through investment in solar, coal, and hydro projects, including 700MW in Maamba and 100MW in Chisamba, while 500,000 hectares of land have been secured for irrigation to strengthen food security.

President Hichilema reiterated that the fight against corruption is non-selective, adding that property linked to former minister Joseph Malanji, including helicopters, will be forfeited to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) for use in humanitarian operations.

“This is the job Zambians gave me, to fight corruption. Anyone stealing from hospitals or government projects is on their own,” he warned.

He also urged party members to reject tribalism and indiscipline, emphasising that the UPND is founded on unity and national identity.

“In the UPND, there is only one tribe, Zambian. We must remain disciplined, united, and loyal to the people we serve,” he said.
President Hichilema urged members to continue serving with humility, discipline, and unity:

“UPND has come a long way. Let’s build a party that outgrows us all. Together, we will deliver a peaceful, united, and prosperous Zambia.”

UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda called for mobilisation and voter registration ahead of 2026, saying discipline and loyalty remain central to the party’s strength.

National Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso cautioned members against standing as independents, while National Chairman Collins Maoma reminded officials that CDF-funded projects should benefit local communities and UPND-aligned entrepreneurs with registered companies.

Provincial Chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta reaffirmed the party’s strength in Lusaka, noting reduced opposition influence and increased grassroots mobilisation. Provincial Chairlady Angela Choona and Youth Chairperson Anderson Banda also pledged full support and readiness for 2026.

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata commended the President’s leadership, saying the province is progressing under his administration.

The meeting was attended by UPND Members of Parliament, National Management Committee members, and other structures from all districts of Lusaka Province.

I cut Obama’s call, thinking it was a prank call – B Flow

I cut Obama’s call, thinking it was a prank call – B Flow

IMAGINE getting a call from the White House in the United States, hearing the words, “you’re speaking to Barrack Obama,” and..hanging up.

That’s exactly what happened to Zambian music star and activist Brian Bwembya, fondly known as B Flow, who revealed the jaw-dropping moment he accidentally cut off a call from the then President of the United States Barrack Obama, thinking it was a prank.

Recalling the life-changing moment, B Flow revealed that his first interaction with Obama didn’t go quite as expected.

“What happened was, before that moment came, there was actually a phone call that came from the White House. A lady called and told me that someone wanted to speak to me. When she gave the phone to that someone, I heard, ‘You are speaking to Barack Obama, President of the United States,” he recalled.

But instead of celebrating, B Flow froze and did what most people wouldn’t dare do.

“I was like, ni beans iyi, this is not true. Ni story yamu ka book because I thought it was a prank and I hung up,” he said.

The White House, however, wasn’t amused and the same staffer called back, this time urging him to take the call seriously.

When Obama got back on the line, B Flow started to believe it until the conversation took another unexpected twist.

“So Obama was brought back on, and I was beginning to believe it. Only for him to ask how I pronounced my last name. When I told him, he said, ‘Thanks’ and hung up.”

That bizarre exchange in 2015 came just before Obama publicly recognised B Flow at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) summit in Washington DC, praising him for using music to fight gender-based violence and promote health awareness.

For the Kabwe-born artiste, who once only saw America on TV, the experience felt like a dream.

“Here’s this guy who lost his mum and never thought he’d achieve anything big. Suddenly, I was in a country I used to watch only in movies, the same places where I saw cars dancing and African-Americans acting. To be there, and to be recognised by Obama himself, was unreal,” B Flow said.

However, the milestone didn’t come without backlash, B Flow said some critics tried to downplay his achievement.

B Flow disclosed that some people even claimed Obama does not remember him, but for him, it was personal and real.

According to him, between 2017 and 2018, the connection between him and Obama deepened when he was invited to Chicago to attend the launch of the Obama Foundation and the inaugural Obama Summit.

“That’s when I experienced the one-on-one. You get invited to his home, have dinner, and just talk. That was also when the ‘Dear Mama’ song came in,” he recalled.

He added that he still maintains a connection with the Obamas, though the number he has now isn’t even on WhatsApp.

Zambia’s path to true development lies not in vilifying Binwell or Sangwa, but in engaging their ideas

A Government That Debates People Instead of Ideas Cannot Engineer Progress!

Zambia’s path to true development lies not in vilifying Binwell or Sangwa, but in engaging their ideas – the kind that speak to the nation’s soul and the struggles of its people.

By Mpandashalo Mwewa.

Lusaka, Oct. 12 – They say great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people. And, here we are – locked in a national debate over Binwell and Sangwa, while the real conversation that could liberate Zambia from its chains of underdevelopment gathers dust.

Someone ought to tell Hon. Kabuswe that the problem is not these men; it is a political culture that prefers gossip to governance, deflection to dialogue because in truth, both Mpundu and Sangwa have sounded alarms on issues that cut to the heart of Zambia’s economic survival – issues of energy policy, governance, and accountability that President Hichilema has failed to address.

But instead of confronting the uncomfortable truths that have been raised, we have the ruling elite that finds comfort in dismissing the messengers. This aversion to critical thought explains why, decades after independence, the country still gropes in the dark – literally and figuratively.

A government that cannot debate ideas cannot design progress. Zambia’s current leadership has shown neither the intellectual stamina nor the moral courage to tackle the problems tormenting ordinary citizens – from power shortages to economic inequality. The obsession with silencing or ridiculing critics has replaced the art of statecraft with the vanity of propaganda.

Zambia’s path to renewal begins with reclaiming the lost discipline of reasoning. And this is where the mindset of individuals such as Binwell and Sangwa come in. The nation must learn once again to value truth over theatrics, substance over slogans, and dialogue over dogma. Until then, the lights will keep going out after 3 hours when ZESCO had promised 7 hours – not because of hydrology or low water levels – but because those entrusted with leadership refuse to think beyond themselves.

“The President urged all leaders serving in government not to lose touch with the people and the party structures that gave them the mandate. Humility, loyalty, and continued engagement with the grassroots remain key pillars of our strength as the UPND,” he stated.

Mr. Mwaliteta commended President Hichilema’s leadership, saying it continues to guide the party and the nation in the right direction.

Mr. Mwaliteta also expressed confidence that the province would deliver overwhelming support for President Hichilema and the UPND in the 2026 general elections.

“With renewed energy and unity of purpose, Lusaka Province will deliver not less than 80 percent of the vote for President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND in 2026. United, focused, and humble together, we shall deliver,” he declared.

The meeting was part of the President’s continued engagement with party structures to strengthen internal unity and ensure alignment between government policies and the UPND’s grassroots agenda.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA URGES CONTINUED PEACE, UNITY, AND DEVELOPMENT

Lusaka… Sunday October 12, 2025 – President Hakainde Hichilema has urged UPND members to uphold peace, unity, and discipline as the foundation for the country’s ongoing development efforts.

Speaking during a meeting with UPND leaders from all districts of Lusaka Province at the Mulungushi Conference Centre, the Head of State emphasized the need for continued focus on national development anchored on discipline and unity.

The President reminded party officials to remain humble while taking pride in belonging to a party that has introduced free education and created thousands of jobs for teachers, health workers, and personnel in the defence and security wings.

Zambia Crash Out Of World Cup Playoffs After 1–0 Home Defeat To Niger

Zambia Crash Out Of World Cup Playoffs After 1–0 Home Defeat To Niger

Zambia’s dream of reaching the FIFA World Cup playoffs came to an abrupt end Friday night after a stunning 1–0 defeat to Niger at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, the Chipolopolo failed to convert, leaving their qualification hopes in ruins.

Niger’s victory came from a rare counterattack in the second half, punishing Zambia for their wastefulness in front of goal. The result silenced the home crowd, which had turned out in full expectation of a crucial win.

Speaking after the match, Niger coach Badu Zaki said his team had studied Zambia’s attacking style and prepared to absorb pressure. “We knew Zambia’s strength was on the wings, so we stayed disciplined and waited for the right moment. In African football today, there are no small teams,” he said.

Zambia’s head coach Avram Grant expressed disappointment at the missed opportunities, noting that his side could have sealed the game early.

“We created enough chances to win. By halftime, we could have been three goals ahead, but football is about taking chances. Niger took theirs,” he said.

The loss marks a bitter setback for Zambia, who had entered the campaign with renewed optimism under Grant’s leadership. For Niger, it was a night of resilience and redemption, a reminder that African football’s balance of power continues to shift, one upset at a time.

ZAMBIAN KWACHA STRENGTHENS AS COPPER PRICES HIT RECORD HIGHS

ZAMBIAN KWACHA STRENGTHENS AS COPPER PRICES HIT RECORD HIGHS

THE Zambian Kwacha has continued its strong performance, gaining over three percent against the U.S. dollar on Thursday its biggest daily rise in months.

Economic expert Kelvin Chisanga, speaking in a statement availed to Roanfm says the currency’s rally reflects renewed investor confidence in Zambia’s economy, largely driven by higher copper prices and expanding production.

Global copper prices have surged above $10,800 per tonne, following supply disruptions in the DRC and Chile, while Zambia is on track to produce over one million tonnes of copper this year a level not seen in nearly a century.

Mr. Chisanga adds that major investments by Barrick Gold and First Quantum Minerals are boosting the sector, and the Kwacha’s strength shows Zambia’s improving external balance and economic reforms.

He, however, cautions that sustaining this momentum will require diversification beyond mining and consistent fiscal disciplines.

DR. M’MEMBE URGES AFRICAN YOUTH TO UNITE FOR REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE

DR. M’MEMBE URGES AFRICAN YOUTH TO UNITE FOR REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE

Ouagadougou – Zambia’s Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M’membe has called on young Africans to take the lead in transforming the continent through unity and revolutionary action.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CB4oKkydr/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Speaking to an audience of youth and political activists, Dr. M’membe emphasized the urgent need for African unity and the central role of young people in shaping the continent’s future.

Dr. M’membe stated that African youth were at the forefront of the struggle against injustice, inequality, and inhumanity across the continent.

He warned that the current neoliberal capitalist order continued to exploit and oppress the younger generation, making them victims of unfair and inhumane conditions.

According to him, young Africans must remain “permanently on the frontlines” in the fight to build a better and fairer society.

Referring to recent political developments, Dr. M’membe praised the revolution led by President Ibrahim Traoré in Burkina Faso as well as the transformations taking place in Niger and Mali.

He said these movements highlighted the urgent need for revolutionary change across Africa–change that could only be achieved through the active participation and leadership of young people.

Dr. M’membe dismissed the notion that the youth were merely “leaders of tomorrow.”

He urged them to recognize that leadership begins today, arguing that “the future is built on the threshold of the decisions and actions taken in the present.”

He encouraged young Africans to think for themselves, see for themselves, and draw their own conclusions rather than relying on false promises and manipulation.

He further urged the youth to reject all forms of exploitation and humiliation, asserting that they should no longer allow themselves to be lied to or cheated.

“When they revolt against conditions of joblessness, poverty, and despair,” he said, “they will be told to do so politely – but they must show that they are the wrong young Africans to be handled that way.”

Dr. M’membe called upon the youth to embody the revolutionary spirit of African icons, declaring that “Thomas Sankara lives in you” and that “Ibrahim Traoré leads and inspires you.”

He also reminded them of Kwame Nkrumah’s teachings on the importance of uniting struggles for African liberation and unity.

Meanwhile, Dr. M’membe told the audience that African youth must either struggle together or face defeat alone.

He maintained that there was no sensible alternative to unity, stressing that “a people united can never be defeated.”

THE KK WING  AT MULUNGUSHI CONFETENCE CENTTE IS A NATIONAL ASSET NOT A PF PERSONAL PROJECT

THE KK WING IS A NATIONAL ASSET NOT A PF PERSONAL PROJECT

By Timmy

It has come to our attention that some PF cadres are attempting to mislead the public by claiming that the UPND Government is using infrastructure built by the previous PF administration  in particular, the Kenneth Kaunda (KK) Wing at Mulungushi International Conference Centre  as though it were a personal PF project.

This is false, misleading, and politically immature. Let’s set the record straight:

1. The KK Wing Was a Gift from the People’s Republic of China

The KK International Conference Centre, valued at US$65 million, was constructed as a grant (gift) from the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the People of Zambia in honour of Zambia’s First Republican President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

This was not PF’s personal project, nor was it financed by PF party resources. It was a bilateral gift between China and Zambia, built to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance Zambia’s capacity to host major international conferences.

2. National Projects Belong to the People — Not Political Parties

The fact that construction began during the PF administration does not make the facility PF property. It belongs to Zambians, regardless of political affiliation.

UPND, PF, Socialist Party, and every other Zambian political entity and citizen has an equal right to use and benefit from national assets. This is the essence of state continuity. Governments change, but national infrastructure remains property of the Republic of Zambia.

It is, therefore, shocking and frankly childish for some PF members to make noise each time UPND uses a public facility. Does this mean opposition parties shouldn’t hold rallies in stadiums built under other governments? Or that roads built under PF are only for PF cadres only.? Or upnd  is out of power what they have built should not be used by new political party which is going to take over? Of course not. Development is for everyone.

3. Understanding the Timeline

Construction started: January 2020 (under PF)

Completion: April 2022

Funding: Grant from the Chinese Government

Supervision: Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development

Commissioned by President Hakainde Hichilema: May 2022 ( under upnd)

UPND’s role has been to ensure completion, proper utilization, and integration of the KK Wing into Zambia’s economic development strategy, especially for tourism and conference hosting.

4. President Hakainde Hichilema’s Message during the commissioning in May 2022 Was About Value for Money

During the commissioning, President Hichilema emphasized that the KK Wing is an example of high-quality, correctly priced, and timely delivered infrastructure  setting the standard for future government projects and we thank God that to day it’s been used.

This is not about partisanship but about ensuring that every Kwacha and every grant works for the Zambian people.

PF must understand that national development is not party property. The KK Wing was a gift to Zambia, not to PF. Therefore, UPND and any other Zambian have the full right to use and manage it in the best interest of the nation.

Instead of making unnecessary noise, PF should appreciate that President Hakainde Hichilema is ensuring that the infrastructure they found is being used effectively and efficiently, with accountability and vision.

AT 92, PAUL BIYA SEEKS TO EXTEND 43-YEAR RULE AS CAMEROON HEADS TO THE POLLS

By: Trt Africa

Cameroon holds presidential elections on Sunday with 92-year-old Paul Biya, the world’s oldest serving head of state, seeking to extend his already 43-year rule.

The eight million Cameroonians who are eligible to vote in the one-round election have, for the most part, only known one ruler in their lifetime.

Biya has been in power since 1982 and has won every election in the past 20 years by more than 70 percent of the ballot. He is widely expected to win again this time around.

Biya’s 12 opponents have made numerous public appearances in recent weeks, each promising a new dawn for Cameroon in place of Biya’s entrenched hold on public life.

The president’s main rival, former employment minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary, also campaigned in the regional capital Maroua this week.

WHO TAKES OVER SADC CHAIRMANSHIP IF A COUP IS CONFIRMED IN MADAGASCAR

WHO TAKES OVER SADC CHAIRMANSHIP IF A COUP IS CONFIRMED IN MADAGASCAR

BY RONALD MAKUSHA

What the current situation is

During the 45th SADC Summit held on August 17, 2025, in Antananarivo, Madagascar, President Andry Rajoelina took over the rotating chairmanship of SADC, following Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.

The SADC Treaty stipulates that the chair position rotates each year among member states.

There is also a Troika arrangement (Chair, Incoming Chair, Outgoing Chair) that ensures continuity in policy and decision-making between annual summits.

Presently, Madagascar holds the Chair position. What might occur if a coup takes place in the chair country?

Should Madagascar encounter a coup, SADC may consider various potential courses of action, depending on how events unfold. Several key factors will be:

Whether the coup is acknowledged de facto (control by military/government).

Whether other SADC members view the constitutional order as being violated.

Whether the new regime seeks legitimacy (through elections or international recognition).

The speed and decisiveness of SADC and its member states in their response (condemning, suspending, mediating, etc.).

Here are some possible scenarios:

Madagascar retains the Chair (de jure) despite the coup.

If the new regime in Madagascar maintains control, is not immediately overthrown, and there is no collective decision by SADC to suspend or replace it, Madagascar may continue to hold the Chair role. Nonetheless, their legitimacy might face challenges (internally and externally). SADC may encourage dialogue or a return to constitutional order.

SADC suspends Madagascar from the Chair.

If the coup is perceived as a breach of constitutional order, SADC could choose (through consensus or near-consensus) to suspend Madagascar’s Chairmanship. This is a precedent observed in African regional organizations when member states face unconstitutional changes in government.

Interim chair appointed by the Incoming Chair or Outgoing Chair.

Due to the Troika system, either the Incoming Chair (who was next in line) or the Outgoing Chair (the one who recently transferred the position) may act as interim or “caretaker” to guide SADC until stability or new elections are achieved.

In this scenario, identifying the Incoming Chair would aid in forecasting the next steps.

Emergency or special summit convened to determine a new chair.

SADC might call for an emergency meeting of Heads of State to select a replacement or confirm a temporary chair. Internal and external pressures would likely prompt member states to ensure there is a credible and constitutional individual leading the chair.

Who is likely to take over if suspension occurs.

The Incoming Chair according to the regular rotation would be the most logical option. SADC’s structure suggests that the next designated president in the chairmanship rotation would take over if the current chair cannot continue. Knowing which country’s president is next would identify the primary candidate.

The Outgoing Chair could also serve as interim if the Incoming Chair is unprepared or if there is a lack of consensus.

Alternatively, a member country with diplomatic influence and widespread respect across SADC might be chosen for interim leadership, especially a regional power such as South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, or others, depending on the existing geopolitical dynamics, if supported by the Troika structure.

Current incoming / outgoing

According to the most up-to-date information:

Outgoing Chair: Zimbabwe (Mnangagwa) (recently transferred in August 2025).
Current Chair: Madagascar (Andry Rajoelina) effective from August 2025.
Incoming Chair: South Africa (Cyril Ramaphosa) is designated as the incoming Chairperson of SADC, according to SADC sources.

Thus, if Madagascar can no longer fulfill its role (e.g., due to a coup), it is most likely that South Africa (or whoever is named as the incoming chair) would take over, either right away or following an emergency meeting, to assume the responsibilities of the SADC chair.

Madagascar

A successful coup d’eta have been carried out in Madagascar .and the new strong man of the country is Colonel Michael shown in the  picture.

Here’s how it went:

Soldiers in Madagascar have joined anti-government protests in the capital Antananarivo, with a military unit publicly urging security forces to defy orders to shoot at demonstrators.

Saturday’s rally was the largest since protests began on 25 September, driven by anger over power and water cuts and escalating into calls for President Andry Rajoelina’s resignation.

A contingent from the CAPSAT military base released a video urging troops to “refuse to be paid to shoot our friends, our brothers and our sisters.”

“Close the gates and wait for our instructions. No longer obey orders from your superiors,” the soldiers said. “Point your guns at those who order you to shoot your brothers in arms because they are not the ones who will take care of our family if we ever die.”

Vehicles carrying armed soldiers were seen joining thousands of protesters near Lake Anosy, where police had earlier fired tear gas. The number of troops responding to the call remains unclear.

According to the UN, at least 22 people have died and over 100 have been injured since the unrest began. The government disputes the figures, with President Rajoelina claiming only 12 deaths, describing victims as “looters and thugs.”

Rajoelina, 51, has not addressed the public since the weekend protests. His recent consultations have failed to calm tensions, and Gen Z activists continue to demand his departure along with the Senate president.

Mali Strikes Back: Mali Imposes Reciprocal Visa Bond on U.S. Citizens After Trump’s $10,000 Visa Requirement for Malians

The U.S. Embassy in Mali announced that, effective October 23, 2025, they’re rolling out a visa bond pilot program for Malian citizens who apply for a B-1/B-2 business or tourist visa. This means Malians must have to pay a bond of either $5,000 or $10,000 to get a U.S. visa.

In response, Mali has declared it will impose reciprocal visa bond requirements on U.S. citizens.

Mali’s government described the decision by as “in application of reciprocity.”

The soldiers also called for the president’s resignation, says the armed forces are now under its command.

The soldiers have told the president that they would refuse any orders to shoot demonstrators.

Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina has said an attempt to seize power is under way in the country.

The soldiers have taken over the leadership of the military command, and now in control of all the armed forces – land, air, and naval.

A youth-led protests started on 25 September against water and power cuts, but they have since escalated to reflect wider dissatisfaction with the government over high unemployment, corruption, and the cost-of-living crisis.

AKON GRADUATED FROM HAKIMI’S DIVORCE SCHOOL

 AKON GRADUATED FROM HAKIMI’S DIVORCE SCHOOL

Some few weeks ago, Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam filed for a divorce. She filed to part ways with Akon after 29 years of marriage.

She is demanded a jaw-dropping €100M as compensation from Akon, claiming she helped built Akon’s empire throughout the 29 years of marriage. In her words, “I stood by Akon throughout all the pain, all the cheating and all the struggles. I deserve my share of what we built together”.

The interesting part here is that the court handling the divorce case had access to Akon’s accounts, they reportedly found only a total sum of $10,000. The rest of the singer’s wealth is allegedly sitting comfortably in his mother’s account.

This reminds the world of Moroccan football star, Acraf Hakimi. The only way Hakimi could protect his wealth was by saving everything in his mother’s name. His then wife filed for divorce, demanding huge sums but Hakimi had nothing in his account. He instead had everything saved in his mother’s name only to secure his wealth.

Tomeka Thiam demanded for 100M but it seems she will have to settle for $10k and the court will have to decide how she shares it with Akon凉

Mutare Circus: ZANU–PF Conference Can’t Pick 2028 Candidate, Warns Top Lawyer

Mutare Circus: ZANU–PF Conference Can’t Pick 2028 Candidate, Warns Top Lawyer!

By BoldTruth Staff

Prominent constitutional lawyer Thabani Mpofu has poured cold water on expectations that ZANU–PF’s upcoming National People’s Conference, set for October 13 to 18, 2028, will anoint the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 elections.

Mpofu, known for his sharp political insights and no-nonsense legal commentary, cautioned both political players and strategists to manage their expectations. He emphasized that the gathering dubbed by critics as the “Mutare circus”, “neither can nor will select the 2028 presidential candidate.”

He urged Zimbabweans to pay close attention to the proceedings, describing the conference as one of “national significance” that could shape the tone of Zimbabwe’s political landscape heading toward the next general election.

“We will be monitoring the conference closely,” Mpofu said, “because what happens in Mutare will reveal much about the internal power struggles and future direction of ZANU–PF.”

Political analysts say the remarks highlight growing uncertainty within the ruling party about its succession politics, with whispers of behind the scenes maneuvering between factions aligned to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

As the conference draws near, all eyes will indeed be on Mutare, where party loyalists will gather and where, according to Mpofu, the real story might not be what’s on the official agenda, but what happens behind closed doors.

ED UNTIL 2030!” – ZANU PF CONFIRMS PUSH TO EXTEND MNANGAGWA’S RULE

ED UNTIL 2030!” – ZANU PF CONFIRMS PUSH TO EXTEND MNANGAGWA’S RULE

ZANU PF has made it official, the ruling party wants President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to stay in power until 2030, beyond the constitutional limit.

Party Director of Information and Publicity, Cde Farai Marapira, confirmed that Resolution Number 1, which calls for the extension of Mnangagwa’s term, is now the official party position ahead of the upcoming 22nd National People’s Conference.

Marapira said the move reflects the people’s will, adding that the President is a “listening leader” who believes “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

The declaration has sparked intense political debate, with critics calling it a blatant attempt to sidestep the constitution, while supporters hail it as a show of unity and loyalty to the ruling party’s long-time leader.

Zimbabwe now watches closely as ZANU PF marches toward its controversial conference.

“BLOOD MONEY!” – Chinese Mine Pays $6,500 After Killing Zimbabwean Worker

Shock and outrage have gripped Zimbabwe after Zhuhe Shuwai Mine, a Chinese owned company, reportedly paid just US$6,500 to the family of Fungai Nhau, a local worker shot dead by a Chinese national on the mine’s premises.

Witnesses say Nhau was gunned down during a dispute, sparking fury and renewed calls for justice. The small payout has been condemned by locals as “insulting” and “a mockery of human life.”

Community leaders are demanding the immediate arrest of the shooter and tougher government action against abusive foreign employers.

“This is not compensation, it’s an attempt to buy silence,” one angry activist said. “Zimbabweans deserve justice, not blood money.”

Barron Trump tapped for TikTok role, and billionaire Larry Ellison is helping make it happen

Barron Trump tapped for TikTok role, and billionaire Larry Ellison is helping make it happen.

Donald Trump says he “saved TikTok.” Now his allies want to hand it to his son.

Yes, really. 🤦‍♂️

Days after Trump strutted back onto the app with his now-viral Oval Office video “I saved TikTok, so you owe me big” one of his MAGA goombas floated the next logical step in the Trump dynasty playbook: give 19-year-old Barron Trump a leadership role in the new “American-owned” TikTok.

The idea came from Trump ally Jack Advent, nicknamed “TikTok Jack,” who told the Daily Mail: “Young people are overwhelmingly the user base of TikTok. I’m hopeful President Trump will consider appointing his son Barron and maybe other young Americans to TikTok’s board.”

And the person making this whole “American TikTok” deal possible?
The 2nd richest man in the world, Oracle founder and American Oligarch Larry Ellison.

Like the first richest man in the world, Ellison is a major Trump donor. Also, like the first richest man in the world, this asshole can’t keep himself from poking his head into government.

Which is presumably why he is also one of the lead investors in the U.S. consortium taking over TikTok’s operations.

To recap:
🍊Trump pressures TikTok’s Chinese parent company to sell.
💵He signs an executive order paving the way for a “U.S.-controlled ” TikTok” led by billionaire loyalists like Ellison.
🤦‍♂️Then, almost immediately, Trump’s inner circle starts floating Barron for a top role.

You don’t need to be a conspiracy theorist to see the pattern because it’s basically Trump’s modus operandi at this point.

Barron Trump, 19 years old, a freshman at NYU, who has zero experience in tech, business, or policy, will be put into a position of power at one of the most influential social media apps in the US.

Ellison’s involvement makes it even murkier. TikTok isn’t just a social media app, it’s a cultural megaphone used by 170 million Americans, most under 30. Now it’s potentially being folded into the same network of billionaire allies and family insiders that turned the White House into a business front.

What could possibly go wrong?

PANIC IN STATE HOUSE AS MNANGAGWA SWEATS OVER SUCCESSION SHOWDOWN!

PANIC IN STATE HOUSE AS MNANGAGWA SWEATS OVER SUCCESSION SHOWDOWN!

By BoldTruth Staff

A highly placed source says President Emmerson Mnangagwa is losing sleep over who will take over when he finally bows out, whether in 2028 or later.

With the Zanu PF Annual Conference set for Mutare from October 13 to 18, tension is reportedly reaching fever pitch inside the corridors of power. The succession race though still unofficial is on full throttle, and three big names are dominating the whispers in the President’s inner circle:

🔥 General Phillip Valerio Sibanda, the tough-as-nails commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
💰 Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the billionaire fuel and mining tycoon whose fortune bankrolls much of Zanu PF’s machinery.
🗣️ Chris Mutsvangwa, the outspoken party spokesperson and long-time political operator.

But wait the plot thickens! Some loyalists are now also quietly floating First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda as potential successors.

⚔️ TRIBES, REGIONS & POWER PLAYS

Traditionally, Zanu PF’s power games have been laced with ethnic and liberation-era identity politics, from Shona vs Ndebele rivalries to liberation war entitlement. But insiders say this time the fault lines are shifting; regional loyalties and military-business alliances are becoming the new battleground.

CHIWENGA FACTOR: THE GENERAL WHO WON’T GO AWAY

Despite being seen as the “natural heir,” Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, the man who helped topple Robert Mugabe in 2017, remains Mnangagwa’s least preferred option. Sources say the two men’s relationship has turned icy, with deep distrust and silent hostility now defining their interactions.

Chiwenga’s military roots and power networks make him a formidable contender but Mnangagwa reportedly wants a smoother handover through the 2027 Zanu PF Congress, where he hopes to engineer his chosen successor and crush Chiwenga’s ambitions once and for all.

🎖️ SIBANDA ON THE RISE

General Phillip Valerio Sibanda is emerging as the President’s favourite. His liberation credentials, Zipra background, and steady reputation make him an attractive option for Mnangagwa, who once tried to catapult him into politics at the 2023 Zanu PF conference in Gweru only to be blocked by the party and civic actors.

Sibanda’s military career is winding down, and his political path may soon open up, a move that could change Zimbabwe’s power matrix completely.

Tagwirei, meanwhile, offers financial muscle and control of economic networks, while Mutsvangwa brings party history and political cunning.

AUXILLIA’S AMBITIONS & MUDENDA’S MYSTERY

While the First Lady’s name has been floated by a few within the Mnangagwa camp, sources say the President is hesitant to back such a dynastic move fearing backlash from both the military and the public.

Speaker Jacob Mudenda, respected but reserved, is being mentioned in quiet corners as a consensus candidate, one who could balance the party’s factions if chaos erupts.

🔥 INSIDE THE POWER STRUGGLE

The atmosphere is said to be toxic and paranoid. Last month, Mnangagwa abruptly cancelled his trip to the UN General Assembly after Chiwenga allegedly confronted him with a corruption dossier implicating members of the President’s business circle.

Mnangagwa struck back swiftly, reshuffling the politburo and purging Chiwenga’s allies, including former Secretary-General Obert Mpofu a bold move that further exposed the growing rift.

🕵️‍♂️ WHAT’S AT STAKE

For Mnangagwa and his business cronies, the choice of successor isn’t just about politics, it’s about protection. They want someone who will shield their families, fortunes, and reputations, including over alleged human rights abuses dating back to the 1980s.

Although Mnangagwa has publicly denied plans to extend his rule beyond 2028, insiders say the “ED2030” campaign and calls for an extension are merely proxy wars in the real battle, who takes over when he goes.

As one insider told BoldTruth:

“The question is no longer if Mnangagwa will go , it’s who he trusts to hold the knife without stabbing him in the back.”

WATCH LIVE: Amb Emmanuel Mwamba host Willah Joseph Mudolo

WILLAH MUDOLO: A SLOW START, A STRONG FINISH

By Brian Matambo – Sandton, South Africa

When Willah Joseph Mudolo appeared on Emmanuel Mwamba Verified Live this week, it was his first public interview since rumours surfaced that he intended to stand for the presidency. Expectations were high and curiosity even higher. For the first fifteen minutes, though, the moment seemed to slip from his grasp.

Mudolo began softly, almost hesitantly. He greeted viewers in several local languages, offered a short prayer, and spoke of gratitude and faith. His tone was courteous but cautious; sentences circled back on themselves, and his trademark confidence was nowhere to be seen. On social media, reactions came fast. Some mocked his delivery, others accused him of lacking charisma, while a few urged patience, reminding fellow viewers that it was his first major appearance in months. Facebook comment sections filled with jokes and premature verdicts, and WhatsApp groups buzzed with snippets taken out of context. It felt, for a moment, as though the broadcast might collapse under the weight of instant criticism.

Then, around the fifteen-minute mark, something shifted. Mudolo steadied himself, looked straight into the camera, and began to sound like the man many had only heard about. The nervous energy gave way to clarity and depth. He started telling his story, not as a speech but as a journey.

He spoke of a childhood divided between the Copperbelt and Sami Village, of selling small goods to pay his way through school, and of rising into corporate finance and international trade. He used that personal story to build a bridge to policy, arguing that Zambia’s next generation of leaders must understand both village poverty and global economics. “You can’t manage what you don’t understand,” he said, “and you can’t fix what you’ve never felt.”

From there, Mudolo moved into the heart of his message: economic transformation through ownership and innovation. He dismissed austerity as “a foreign prescription for a local disease” and proposed what he called asset-based financing, leveraging Zambia’s minerals, agriculture and manufacturing potential to attract patient capital. He explained how he had once designed a proposal that could have unlocked up to fifteen billion dollars through offtake-anchored mining finance, allowing the country to fund power and infrastructure without deepening external debt.

On energy, he blamed poor planning rather than nature for Zambia’s recurring load-shedding. “We can’t export electricity when our own people are in darkness,” he said, outlining a plan for decentralised generation across provinces. He linked that to agriculture, arguing that industrial hubs must grow out of farming regions, not just mining towns.

Asked about the much-talked-about Shepherd Bushiri saga in South Africa, Mudolo remained calm. He insisted the matter was purely business, that he had not been convicted of any offence, and that the controversy had been politicised. “The truth has never changed because of noise,” he said quietly, before pivoting back to the economy.

On politics, he called for opposition unity and for a return to civility in national debate. He praised the late Edgar Chagwa Lungu, urged empathy toward his family, and challenged current leaders to remember that power is temporary. He closed with an invitation to every Zambian, not to follow him, but to join him in rebuilding what belongs to us.

By the end of the hour, even some early sceptics online were conceding that the second half of the interview sounded like a different man altogether. The nervous candidate had transformed into a confident, articulate thinker with a command of policy detail and a moral spine rooted in faith and self-reliance. Whether one agrees with his prescriptions or not, Mudolo managed to turn what began as a shaky re-introduction into a statement of intent.

For a nation weary of noise and personality politics, it was a reminder that sometimes the first fifteen minutes are not the whole story. The applause or the judgement should come after the message is complete, not before the man has found his voice.

John Sangwa announces his retirement from legal practice to join politics

SANGWA FORMS MOVEMENT  FOR NATIONAL RENEWAL (MNR)

STEPPING AWAY FROM LEGAL PRACTICE TO PURSUE NATIONAL RENEWAL

Lusaka, 12 October 2025

Fellow Zambians,

When I issued “A Call to National Reflection,” I posed ten questions of conscience – not to advance a political ambition, but to awaken a sense of national duty.

Those questions were meant to remind us that Zambia’s transformation cannot begin with leaders alone; it must begin with citizens who are ready to embrace discipline , accountability and unity under Article 43 of the Constitution.

Among those ten questions was Question Two – Sacrifice and Discipline, which asks:
“Are we prepared to make the hard sacrifices required for national renewal – to reject corruption in all its forms, to end the culture of wastage, and to embrace responsibility not only in leadership but also in family and community life?”

That question, simple yet searching, demands an answer not in words but in action.

I must lead by example. After much reflection and prayer, I have decided to step away from active legal practice at Simeza, Sangwa & Associates, the firm I co-founded and have served
faithfully for more than three decades.

This decision takes effect immediately.

Like I have said before, we cannot rebuild Zambia without sacrifice – and my decision to step away from the firm I founded is one such sacrifice: an offering of personal comfort for the greater purpose of national renewal.

My decision is guided by the conviction that Zambia’s rebirth requires a moral, civic, and institutional awakening.

As part of this National Renewal, I will dedicate my time to mobilising citizens across the country under the banner of the Movement for National Renewal (MNR) – a civic movement devoted to rebuilding our nation on the foundations of integrity, truth, and constitutional discipline, and laying the groundwork for citizens to participate meaningfully and responsibly in the democratic processes leading to the 2026 general election and beyond.

For legal and constitutional reasons, the MNR is, at this stage, a civic platform – not a political party.

Our first national goal is to build a movement of at least one million
(1,000,000) citizens committed to renewal – people ready to live and lead by the Constitution.

We aim to reach this milestone by 31 December 2025, marking a new chapter of civic readiness and shared responsibility. When that level of national organisation is achieved, the
citizens themselves will decide, through broad consultation, whether to transform this civic movement into a political organisation to give their ideals political expression.

To all those across Zambia who believe in this cause: you know each other better; therefore,do not wait for me to tell you what to do, Our communities nationwide are different, in their people, resources, and challenges, and it is the people within those communities, not outsiders, who are best placed to know how to organise themselves.

To give structure to this effort, reclaim your constitutional rights and duties by organising yourselves, beginning in your homes, communities, wards, districts, and provinces, into Renewal structures that will, in time, evolve into the political institutions of a new and accountable Zambia.

To my brother, partner and co-founder, Robert Simeza, SC, I extend my profound respect and gratitude for thirty-nine years of friendship and thirty-one years of partnership, bound
by shared values, mutual respect, and a common belief that the law is a noble calling in service of justice and the public good.

Together, we built Simeza, Sangwa & Associates on principles of integrity, courage, and professional excellence.

As Managing Partner, his wisdom, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment to these ideals continue to be a pillar of strength for the firm and a source of pride for the legal profession.

To my colleagues at Simeza, Sangwa & Associates, I extend my deepest gratitude for their loyalty, professionalism, and friendship.

Together, we have built not only a respected firm but also a culture of excellence, courage, and service to justice.

I am immensely proud of the work we have done, the principles we have upheld, and the generations of young lawyers we have mentored. The firm remains in capable hands, guided by the same values that defined our partnership from the beginning.

To my clients, past and present, I express my deepest appreciation for the trust and confidence you have placed in me and in Simeza, Sangwa & Associates over the years. It has been an honour to represent you and to stand with you in pursuit of justice.

I assure you that the firm remains in strong and capable hands, and that your interests will continue to be served with the same diligence, integrity, and professionalism that have defined our practice for more than three decades.

This is not a journey about power; it is a journey about purpose. I am stepping away from legal practice so that I may serve my country in a new way – by helping Zambians rediscover the link between citizenship and leadership, duty, and destiny.

I now invite every Zambian of goodwill to stand up and be counted.

Together, we can make Zambia honest again, disciplined again, and united again.

Together, We can renew Zambia – a just, united, and disciplined nation where every citizen works, serves and lives by the Constitution.
