PRESIDENT HICHILEMA SWEARS IN TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS, URGES DILIGENCE, INCLUSIVITY AND COST EFFICIENCY
Lusaka, Friday, October 10, 2025 —
President Hakainde Hichilema has urged members of the newly appointed Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments to execute their duties diligently, uphold national diversity, and exercise prudence in both time and cost management as they undertake their mandate.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at State House of Committee Chairperson Justice Christopher Mushabatiand other members, President Hichilema described the task before them as a “delicate but vital national function” that must reflect the collective will and aspirations of the Zambian people.
“This is a people’s function. The Constitution confers on us the duty to amend and improve it where necessary. You have been entrusted to ensure this process reflects the diversity of our great nation, our regions, faiths, and perspectives,” President Hichilema said.
He emphasized that the committee’s composition was based on recommendations from citizens, ensuring inclusivity across regions, religions, including Muslim representation, and gender. The President congratulated both the Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments and the Human Rights Commission Board and Commissioners, who were also sworn in during the same ceremony.
President Hichilema reminded the appointees that time and resources must be used efficiently, stressing that public funds saved from prudent operations can be redirected to social sectors such as education.
“Time is money. Every delay carries a cost. Let us be diligent, focused, and deliver on time. Any savings we make can help educate our children, over 2.3 million of whom are already back in school through our free education policy,” he said.
The President further explained that the decision to constitute the Technical Committee followed consultations with 33 Civil Society Organizations and faith-based groups, who called for broader public participation in constitutional reforms.
“In listening to our people and civil society, we deferred the earlier Bill before Parliament to allow for wider consultation. This committee is the result of that dialogue, a commitment to hear from all Zambians,” he noted.
President Hichilema underscored the importance of quality, prudence, and diligence, assuring the committee of full government support through the Secretary to the Cabinet, who will provide administrative guidance and resources.
He also reaffirmed that inclusivity remains a guiding principle in all national appointments, saying the committee’s diversity represents the Zambia that citizens can be proud of.
“We are not Malawians, Zimbabweans, or Congolese, we are Zambians, and we must take pride in our identity, our flag, and our anthem,” he said.
The Head of State concluded by challenging the committee to listen attentively to citizens, manage resources responsibly, and deliver a product that strengthens Zambia’s democracy and national unity.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Vice President W.K. Mutale Nalumango, the Deputy Chief Justice, senior government officials, and family members of the appointees.
UMODZI KUM’MAWA CRITICIZES TONSE ALLIANCE CHAIRPERSON GIVEN LUBINDA FOR REPORTING ZUMANI ZIMBA TO THE POLICE.
The KUM’MAWA Development Coalition, also known as UMODZI KUM’MAWA, has expressed disappointment over the decision by Tonse Alliance Chairperson Given Lubinda to report Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba to the police for alleged identity theft and harassment.
Coalition Spokesperson Chanoda Ngwira says the move contradicts the Tonse Alliance’s stated commitment to reconciliation and unity among its members.
Mr. Ngwira notes that reporting a colleague to the authorities demonstrates a lack of political maturity and understanding of the broader political landscape.
He adds that rather than fostering cooperation and dialogue, Mr. Lubinda’s actions have escalated minor disagreements into serious confrontations, which can undermine efforts to strengthen the alliance.

LUSAKA CITY COUNCIL OFFICER ALLEGEDLY CHARGES INTERNATIONAL YOUTUBER FOR FILMING WITHOUT PERMIT
An international YouTuber, Davud Akhundzada from Azerbaijan—a country located between Western Asia and Eastern Europe—has reportedly been charged K500 by a Lusaka City Council officer for allegedly filming without a permit at Soweto Market.
Akhundzada, who has visited over 61 countries including Zambia, is known for creating travel content that highlights local cultures, street life, and marketplaces around the world.
According to his recent vlog, the incident occurred while he was recording at Soweto Market, when an individual believed to be a Council police officer approached and informed him that he required official permission from the Lusaka City Council to film in the area.
The YouTuber alleged that the officer initially demanded K1,000 but later accepted K500 after negotiations. He expressed disappointment over the experience, describing it as exploitative and labeling it a “scam.”
The video has since drawn widespread attention on social media, with Zambians calling on the Lusaka City Council to issue a statement clarifying the legality of the officer’s conduct.
Observers have cautioned that such incidents could harm Zambia’s image as a tourist-friendly and content-creator–welcoming destination, particularly in an era where digital storytelling plays a key role in promoting travel and cultural exchange.

BARELY a fortnight since the burial of celebrated comedian and actor, Robam Mwape who was fondly known as Mwine Mushi, Zambia is once again mourning the death of another screen giant, Wanga Zulu who died in the early hours of today aged 51.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17Mjv2Mkte/
Over the past years Wanga endeared herself to the fans of Zambia’s telenovela series Mpali with her brilliant potrayal of the character Mai Guru, a senior wife to a polygamous Nguzu, played by Monde Mutale, a of the Zambezi magic production.
Wanga’s unsmistakble talent and magnetic screen presence redefined local theatre and television. Her artistry left an enduring mark on the hearts of many Zambians who grew up watching her performances.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Mutale, and their five children, who describe her as not just a mother, but a pillar of strength and comfort to the entire family.
Speaking in an emotional interview, her second-born daughter Natasha Mutale said her mother’s passing was difficult to comprehend.
“The news of my mother’s passing is still new and confusing to me, just like it is to everyone else. She was more of a friend than a mother,” Natasha shared tearfully.
While her death has left a void in the hearts of many, Mai Guru’s legacy continues to shine through the characters she brought to life and the inspiration she offered to fellow artists.
The President of the National Arts Theatre Association of Zambia (NATAZ) and Mpali cast director, Eric Kasomo Jr, described her passing as “a heavy and unexpected burden to bear.”
“Since she began her acting career about 18 years ago, humility has always been her greatest attribute,” Kasomo said. “Those who worked with her can attest that she was one of the most humble and disciplined performers in the industry.”
Kasomo recalled meeting Wanga in 2009 during a Muvi TV casting call for Brothers, where she played the character Mawere the role that first shot her to fame. Her exceptional performance opened doors to notable productions such as Zedman, Mfuti, and Njira, and later, Mpali, where she became a household name as “Mai Guru.”
Speaking on behalf of NATAZ, Kasomo said Wanga was known not only for her talent but also for her warmth, spirituality, and sense of unity.
“During production meetings, she often led the opening and closing prayers, earning the affectionate nickname ‘our in-house pastor,’” he said. “Each time we met, we’d ask, ‘Where is Mai Guru for the opening prayer?’ She had a way of making everyone feel covered in prayer and peace.”
Kasomo described her as a “mother figure” who commanded respect both on and off the set. Despite being older than him, she carried herself with humility and professionalism, respecting the hierarchy of their work relationship.
“I used to call her my girl because she was my tribal cousin,” he said, smiling. “Even though she was older, she always treated me as her director. That showed her deep respect for professionalism and set etiquette.”
He fondly recalled one personal moment after an invitation to her birthday celebration at her home.
“When I arrived, her husband was surprised to see how young I was. He even asked me to cut her birthday cake. That moment reflected the respect she had for her colleagues and her dedication to her craft,” Kasomo reminisced.
Though human like everyone else, Kasomo said Wanga’s virtues far outweighed her flaws.
“She was a fantastic team player and a caring mother figure,” he said. “The younger actors are mourning a mentor, her peers are mourning a friend, and her fans are mourning a warm, inspiring soul.”
Wanga was widely respected for mentoring young actors often guiding them on matters of morality, respect, and discipline. Kasomo described her as “soft-spoken yet firm,” both on and off camera, saying these traits reflected who she truly was in real life.
“The industry has lost a beacon of wisdom,” he said solemnly. “She still had so much more to give to the creative community.”
Recalling her final days, Kasomo said he was among the first to rush to the hospital after learning that she had been admitted.
The family had opted for private medical care, which is why her illness had not been made public. He disclosed that, in 2014 Wanga survived survival cancer.
Kasomo said that ten days ago she experienced a partial stroke while on set which made her blood pressure to be high, she was then rushed to Levy Mwanawasa teaching Hospital-high cost section were the doctors advised that she should be transferred to the intensive care unit(ICU) where she was treated until her passing.
“The doctors told us it was a 50-50 situation and urged us to pray,” he said quietly.
“We believed God would heal her, but it was not to be.”
He described Wanga as a “jovial, humble, and helpful soul” who touched countless lives through her art and kindness.
“The industry has lost more than an actress,” he said. “We have lost a pillar, a mother, and a mentor.”
As tributes continue to pour in from across the country, one thing remains clear Mai Guru’s light may have dimmed on earth, but her legacy will continue to illuminate the Zambian film industry for generations to come…https://kalemba.news/local/mai-guru-suffered-a-stroke-while-on-set/
Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Director General George Kasakula has apologised to the newly elected President Peter Mutharika for making inappropriate partisan comments before elections, in support of Chakwera.
In January 2025, Kasakula said: “Peter Mutharika is too old to lead the country and would just sleep at State House, while Dalitso Kabambe cannot be trusted because he stole the party he is leading.”
This life has a habit of humbling people. Bo Kasakula has eaten a humble pie. He now looks foolish, the Fossil he was deriding has eaten the Bible again as kateka.
From “there is no opposition”, “Mutharika is too old to win any election” to “I am sorry your excellency.”
All this embarrassment would have been avoided if Kasakula was professional. I don’t understand why Africans love to cheapen institutions of governance with unnecessary political praise and worship, when their positions demands professionalism.
If your throat is itching for praise and worship, but you occupy a position that prohibits such conduct, just resign to join politics, so that you can freely do your madongodongo without bringing ridicule to the institution.
Today, a lot of institutions in Africa enjoy zero public confidence because of individuals like bo Kasakula. People can’t even face judges without thinking they are facing a cadre, a weapon in the hands of the oppressor.
If you got your job via cadre-ism, at least, hide your claws.

A CLEARING agent of Nakonde District, Muchinga Province, is receiving treatment in the hospital after his wife allegedly ripped his scrotum with her teeth.
Michael Mulenga, 20, of Ntindi village, had his scrotum injured by his wife, Rabbeca Mutale.
Muchinga Province police commanding officer Dennis Moola said the incident happened on Wednesday around 23:00 hours.
Mr Moola said the victim reported to the police that on the fateful day, he arrived at his house around 22:00 hours, in a drunken state, which incensed his partner.
“The couple got into a fight after the wife started shouting at him for returning home late in a drunken state,” he said.
Mr Moola said the fight led to the man having his scrotum ripped by his wife.
Betway has announced the temporary suspension of its operations in Zambia following the government’s introduction of a new 10% excise duty. The company says the new tax has made the current business environment unsustainable for both customers and the company.
In a statement, Betway assured users that their funds remain safe and available for withdrawal at their convenience. All open bets will be settled, and winnings will be paid out as usual.
Betway expressed hope to resume operations once a fair and balanced solution is reached, thanking customers for their understanding and continued support.
“I’M NOT A HOUSE PLANT” – BOKO FIRES BACK AT CRITICS
President Duma Boko has once again hit back at critics accusing him of fighting organizations and individuals who question or disagree with his executive decisions.
Speaking at the official opening of the 2025 Pula Global Expo today, Boko dismissed claims that he is intolerant of differing views, saying disagreement is not hostility but a healthy part of democracy.
“Disagreement is not fighting. We must disagree. I would be extremely worried if we did not. I encourage you to disagree, that’s what democracy is all about,” he said
His remarks come in the wake of public debate surrounding the controversial 29th September celebratory holiday and the appointment of active political figures as presidential advisors, decisions that have drawn mixed reactions from Batswana.
Boko said he welcomes open engagement and robust debate, adding that he thrives on constructive criticism.
“I’m not a house plant that wilts when exposed to the sun. I actually thrive when you expose me to the harsh winds of criticism. We must differ, probe, and challenge each other, but with civility and respect,” he said to applause.
He went on to highlight his long-standing relationship with some of his newly appointed advisors, noting that his selections were based on years of engagement and intellectual exchange rather than personal loyalty.
“When the moment came, I was happy to appoint my friend Fasan Kamalaban as one of my special envoys and advisors, not because of credentials alone, but from the many years of meaningful debate we’ve shared,” he said.
KUM’MAWA DEVELOPMENT COALITION CRITICIZES HON. GIVEN LUBINDA’S ACTIONS
The Kum’mawa Development Coalition, also known as Umodzi Kum’mawa, has expressed disappointment over the recent actions of Patriotic Front Acting President Hon. Given Lubinda, accusing him of undermining efforts toward reconciliation within the Tonse Alliance.
In a statement issued by Coalition spokesperson Chanoda Ngwira, the group said it was “deeply troubled” by Hon. Lubinda’s decision to report Dr. Zumani Zimba, the Lead Consultant and National Coordinator of the Tonse Alliance, to the authorities over issues that could have been resolved privately.
The Coalition stated that the move contradicts the Tonse Alliance’s commitment to dialogue and reconciliation, describing it as divisive and counterproductive.
“It is disheartening to witness a senior political leader, who aspires for both party and national leadership, engage in actions that escalate minor disagreements into public confrontations,” the statement read in part.
Mr. Ngwira further questioned Hon. Lubinda’s approach, suggesting that such actions could fuel unnecessary tension within the alliance and distract from its broader goals of unity and cooperation.
He urged Hon. Lubinda to reflect on his actions and embrace dialogue and understanding as the foundation for effective leadership.
The Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity and progress within the Tonse Alliance, calling on all leaders to act in the spirit of reconciliation and collective responsibility.
PRESIDENT HICHILEMA ADVISED TO RECONSIDER HIS POSITION ON THE ONGOING LEGAL BATTLE OVER ECL BURIAL AND FUNERA
By: Thomas Afroman Mwale
atriotic Front (PF) aspiring presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to reconsider his position on the delayed funeral and burial of late former President Edgar Lungu, describing the ongoing four-month impasse as unfair to the Lungu family.
Speaking during a special interview on Hot FM, Mr Mundubile expressed deep concern over the unresolved burial matter, stressing that government should have allowed the family to decide on the funeral arrangements.
He said the prolonged standoff has caused unnecessary emotional distress to the former president’s family.
The Mporokonso parliamentarian questioned President Hichilema’s earlier decision of suspending international travel out of respect for the late President Lungu’s passing citing the President’s recent trip to the United Kingdom as evidence of a change in position.
He said it is his sincere expectation that government and the head of state will allow the family to make the final decision.
President Edgar Lungu died on 5th June 2025 in South Africa, where he was receiving medical treatment, however, his body has not yet been buried due to an ongoing legal dispute between the family and the government regarding the preferred burial site. #SunFmTvNews
Tonse Alliance Vice Chairperson, Danny Pule, has warned that his party, the Christian Democratic Party (CDP), is considering pulling out of the alliance, if ongoing internal wrangles are not addressed.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Dr. Pule said he has, in his capacity as Vice Chairperson, engaged individuals issuing conflicting statements within the alliance in an effort to restore unity.
Dr. Pule emphasized that his party does not want to be associated with the ongoing squabbles, adding that CDP will soon convene a party congress to decide the way forward.
“As things stand, the CDP is actively preparing for the 2026 general elections,” said Dr. Pule.
He expressed disappointment with the current state of affairs in the alliance, adding that most Zambians trusted the alliance as a special vehicle for the 2026 general elections.
Dr. Pule further disclosed that his party will soon issue an official statement regarding its continued membership in the alliance.
In a recent press statement titled “A Call to National Reflection”, constitutional lawyer John Sangwa said if he were to run for presidency, he would rather have his political campaign, much like our democracy, funded by Zambians than foreign donors or corrupt financiers. “A democracy paid for by outsiders tends to serve their interests, not ours. A democracy bought by money-lenders and power-brokers will never be free. But if we fund it ourselves, through our taxes, our institutions, and our civic commitment, then it will reflect our values, protect our sovereignty, and secure our children’s future”, Sangwa wrote in his call (see attached).
Today, News Diggers is quoting Paul Kabuswe, in his capacity as Minister of Mines, telling Sangwa that “Zambians won’t fund your ambitions. I don’t understand which world he is coming from because Zambians cannot fund his ambitions. If someone is a foreign funder and he genuinely wants to support your party without strings attached, why not? What is wrong with that? He is a wrong guy to fit Zambian politics”, Kabuswe said before advising Sangwa to “abandon his ka accent of his; let him go and talk to the people normally, not just speaking English in that accent”.
Even if ones completely ignores the disturbing lack of intellectual depth in Kabuswe’s response and his abject failure to apply his mind to Article 60 of Zambia’s constitution that calls for legislation on (i) the establishment and management of a Political Parties’ Fund to provide financial support to political parties with seats in the National Assembly; (ii) the accounts of political parties which are funded under the Political Parties’ Fund and the submission of audited accounts by political parties; (iii) the sources of funds for political parties; and (iv) the maximum amount of money to be used for campaigns during elections, how does it fall under the responsibility of the country’s Minister of Mines to respond to Sangwa’s call for Zambians to fund their democracy? What Sangwa said has nothing to do with mining and yet Kabuswe thought it was within his official mandate to address the question about whether we are “willing to fund our own democracy so that it belongs fully to Zambians and not to foreign donors or corrupt financiers”?
And since when did Kabuswe become the spokesperson of Zambians? Why are UPND leaders panicking when it comes to Sangwa? The other day, the ruling party’s Lusaka Province chairperson, Obvious Mwaliteta, was quoted saying ‘Sangwa must first get a wife before standing as president’. Since when did having a spouse become a requirement for seeking election to any public office in Zambia? Of course, Sangwa is married and I have twice met the couple in public spaces this year alone. It seems, however, that the default position of UPND leaders, as Clayson Hamasaka showed yesterday in relation to his lack of basic knowledge of the country’s constitution, is to speak confidently even on matters on which they are totally ignorant, rather than asking questions so that those in the know can cure their repulsive ignorance.
Others have gone as far as saying Sangwa should first tell Zambians which primary school he went to before he can stand as president. How does knowledge of one’s primary school advance public interest? Instead of responding to the fundamental issues that Sangwa raised in his call for national reflection, the UPND and its supporters are lowering the quality of public discourse by way of attacking the person and needlessly dragging his innocent family into a matter that has nothing to do with them (the family).
Sangwa’s story, much like his professional record, is in the public domain. He attended Mutakwa Primary School in Chief Mungule’s area in Lusaka rural, then Riverain Primary School in Kitwe, Natwange Primary School in Chimwemwe where he wrote his Grade 7 exams in 1977. He then attended Kitwe Boys Secondary School, Mpatumatu Secondary School, Roan Antelope Secondary School, Luanshya Boys Secondary School and Kantanshi Secondary School, all on the Copperbelt. The high turnaround in the schools that Sangwa attended has to do with the nomadic professional life of his father, a civil servant who was constantly transferred by the government from one place to another.
More ruling party functionaries have also alleged that Sangwa is not Zambian but Congolese and therefore ineligible to stand for president. This is another truckload of nonsense. First, Sangwa is as Zambian as they come and was born in Mansa on 29 December 1964. His father was Davies Sangwa from Mwinilunga district in Northwestern Province. His mother is from Luapula Province. Second, even if one of his parents were not Zambian (and both are Zambian citizens by birth), he would still be eligible to stand for election as president because the parentage clause was removed from Zambia’s constitution in 2016.
Although all this information about Sangwa’s life has been in the public domain since April 2003 when Amos Malupenga published his profile in the Sunday Post (a profile that was later reproduced in Malupenga’s 2022 book Conversations with Memorable Personalities), most UPND leaders do not know it because many of them – with Hamasaka, Kabuswe, and Mwaliteta serving as prime examples – hardly read.
Like most praise singers, they are largely functional illiterates with limited intellectual capacity and short attention span. They appear to be more at home listening to songs and watching TikTok videos and to be allergic to reading anything longer than a short tweet. Their extraordinary appetite to comment on subjects they have neither read nor taken time to understand is only matched by their clear aversion to reason, their boundless energy to defend the indefensible, their unqualified hostility to anyone critical of the Dear Leader, and their sycophantic and ingratiating attitude towards him.
Argh, ba UPND! Criticise Sangwa and his proposed ideas or solutions to Zambia’s foremost challenges, but consider leaving his family out of your attacks
FORUM for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Chifumu Banda says the United Party for National Development (UPND) government prefers foreigners to Zambians when in the running of the country’s economy.
Banda, State Counsel, said in the four years President Hakainde Hichilema has been in government, he had made history by abandoning the Zambians in preference for foreign investors.
“What is happening now is quite shocking. The picture the UPND is portraying amidst the high cost of living and unending electricity load shedding is pathetic. They would rather please foreigners at the expense of their own people,” he said.
Banda expressed doubt about Hichilema’s understanding of the pain Zambians were experiencing under the UPND’s rule.
“The cost of living is too high for any Zambian to meet basic needs, and this is the record the UPND is proud of. I don’t know whether our friends in government know that a lot of people cannot afford a single decent meal in a day,” he said.
Banda said the UPND had abandoned all the nice promises it made while in the opposition.
“Why do we abandon our own people and keep the investors happy? Investors are smiling with pockets full of money when Zambians are wallowing in poverty,” he said.
Banda said next year’s general elections won’t be easy for the UPND because widespread hunger, lack of jobs and business opportunities coupled with the high cost of living would determine the future of Hichilema in power beyond 2026.
He said Zambia was experiencing exactly what happened in Malawi, increased load shedding of electricity, high food and fuel prices, high cost of farming inputs, deep-rooted corruption and lack of respect for the rule of law.
These were the factors that birthed regime change in Malawi.
“In Malawi, the problem was hunger, too, and it spoke. And the people have spoken. In Malawi, too, electricity was a problem. And the people spoke. So, let’s learn. Let’s take lessons from what is happening next door to do better,” Banda said.
He said it was worrying that after Hichilema won the 2021 elections, he had abandoned the people of Zambia who voted him into power in preference for foreigners now cashing in big through government contracts.
I’M NOT AWARE OF PLANS TO SELECT AN OPPOSITION LEADER IN TWO WEEKS – LUBINDA
PF faction acting President Given Lubinda says he is not aware of the decision to elect a presidential candidate for the United Front in two weeks.
Lubinda also says the party wants to inform, not consult, the Lungu family about PF succession matters so that they are part and parcel of the process.
Meanwhile, Lubinda says the party has not recovered yet from Lungu’s demise and Miles Sampa’s takeover of the PF in 2023.
Socialist Party leader Dr Fred M’membe recently announced that the United Front, an alliance comprising SP, PF, Tonse, UNIP, UKA and other parties, would have a presidential candidate in two weeks.
In an interview, Thursday, Lubinda expressed ignorance of such a decision as he has not attended the last few United Front meetings.
“I’m afraid to say that I did not attend the last few meetings of the United Front, so I’m not aware of that decision,” he said.
And when asked to comment on remarks by Mporokoso PF MP Brian Mundubile that South Africa-based entrepreneur Willah Mudolo must declare his presidential intentions to avoid confusion in PF, Lubinda again expressed ignorance, saying he doesn’t know who Mudolo is.
“I don’t know Mudolo. I have not spoken to him, he has not spoken to me and it is not to me that he would register his interests,” Lubinda said.
Meanwhile, speaking when he appeared on Millennium Radio, Thursday, Lubinda said the party was not consulting but wanted to inform the Lungu family on the party’s succession matters.
“I don’t think anybody said we are going to consult. We did not use the term consult, no. We said that we are going to inform them. We are going to sit down with them and inform them that this is our plan. We are not going to consult as though we are going to get permission from them, no. We want them to be part and parcel of this process. That is the former first family, and the former first family that led the Patriotic Front through the late president Edgar Chagwa Lungu, and the fact that he was our leader and his mortal remains have not yet been buried, have not been interred, we are duty bound to [go and] speak at least [to] the former first lady to say this is our course of action,” he said.
Commenting on how the party is doing currently, Lubinda revealed that the party had not recovered yet from Lungu’s death and the October 24, 2023 “coup”.
“We are not yet out of the woods, and we have been befallen by two major calamities. First is the incident that took place on October 24, 2023, the incident of the bloodless coup which was occasioned by some players in government in collusion with some members of the Patriotic Front. That was the first calamity, and we don’t seem to have survived from that yet. The second was the unfortunate sad demise of president Edgar Chagwa Lungu, president of the Patriotic Front and chairman of the Tonse Alliance. Those are the two major calamities that we underwent, and we haven’t fully recovered from those two yet,” he revealed.
“We are, as you know, still mourning the passing of our dear departed president because of the fact that the burial has been delayed. As you are well aware, a funeral only ends or at least the end only starts when you bury; before you bury, you are still in mourning. So we have been in a state of mourning for all this long, ever since June 5 this year, and we also haven’t gotten out of the woods with regards to the coup that I referred to because matters have been protracting in court. And up to now, we haven’t gotten to the end of it yet, but generally speaking, members of the party are holding together under these circumstances”.
And Lubinda said the opposition were working to bridge their differences.
“My appeal yesterday before releasing the communiqué from the meeting was that all of us, all opposition political parties in Zambia, must endeavour to work together. And I’m happy that I have been a part of the process in Tonse and part of the process in the United Opposition Front. Our idea is that as we approach the 2026 elections, we must work in solidarity, and we cannot do that unless we put in work. And it takes a lot of work for people to work together, it takes a lot of work. The reasons why we are different political parties is because we have different ideas on how to govern the country, we have different approaches, we have different policies,” he said.
“Now we are working at making sure that we can reduce the differences so that we can grow our commonalities. Because it’s the commonalities that bring us together, and of course, people would want us to do this as a magic wand, but it doesn’t work that way. You don’t force relationships, you work towards them. You must build them, and it takes time. So these skirmishes that you are talking about for me are a part of the process of arriving at consensus, as long as these skirmishes are not drawing us apart. If these skirmishes are actually just giving us an opportunity to try and understand each other better, they are good, and we must utilise them so that when we come together, we are going to come together as people who have known each other’s weaknesses, each other’s preferences. Then we can hold together as a solid, formidable opposition grouping”.
Lubinda said the country was better with a united opposition.
“I have not yet heard any party that says they are not willing to unite. I think that all political parties are ready to unite. The only difference is that there are some small differences in opinion and differences in approach. But all opposition political parties that I have spoken to are willing to work together. All of us see the value of working together. All of us are putting in efforts to try and work together. But like I said, citizens must not expect that we can just wake up one day and say, ‘alright, now we are working together.’ It doesn’t happen that way,” said Lubinda.
“Even in marriage, you start with courtship. That courtship is the period that we get to know each other before you say, ‘now, we are ready to live together.’ So those issues that you are referring to are simply issues of differences, and we must resolve those differences as quickly as possible. All of us are agreed that we are better off, [that] Zambia is better off with a united opposition and not with a fragmented opposition, especially as we enter into the 2026 electoral calendar. We ought to enter 2026 as a united opposition”.
“You should be saying thank you”-President Hichilema, “the Economy is Far Better than it was in 2021”
President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed shock that his critics are saying the state of nation is far worse than he found it in 2021.
He claimed that the economy was far better than he found it, was posting a higher rate of economic growth since 2021.
“Zambia is NOT a failed state, you were running the country, you sunk us into debate, you failed to restructure the debt, you had no credibility, the economy was declining at -2.8%, your friends come and clean up the mess you created, instead of saying thank you, you say Zambia is a failed State. Are you talking to kids?”

“Dr Nevers Mumba, why are you involving yourself in politics? As a pastor, are you not supposed to stay away from divisive matters? Why are you siding with the ruling UPND and seemingly defending some of their actions? Isn’t that a betrayal of your calling as a man of God?”
I understand this concern. It is sincere, and I welcome the dialogue. But let me respond, not with emotion or partisanship, but with biblical perspective, historical understanding, and spiritual conviction.
1. GOD’S SERVANTS HAVE ALWAYS SERVED IN CIVIL GOVERNMENT
From Genesis to Revelation, we see God consistently placing His servants in positions of influence within civil government — not to remain silent or passive, but to bring righteous counsel, protect the vulnerable, and preserve godly order in society.
Daniel served in Babylon, under a king who was known for ruthlessness — one who threw dissenters into fiery furnaces and lion’s dens. And yet, Daniel, a man of prayer and unshakable faith, did not stand on the outside shouting accusations. He operated within the system, with wisdom, tact, and integrity. He challenged injustice with courage — but always with respect and divine timing.
Joseph served in Egypt under Pharaoh, a pagan ruler. He rose to become the most powerful administrator in the land. He didn’t shout from outside the palace gates. He brought life-saving solutions from within government — preserving a generation from famine and disaster.
These were not compromised men. They were strategically placed vessels used by God to influence nations from the inside.
2. DIFFERENT PROPHETIC ASSIGNMENTS FOR DIFFERENT TIMES
We must also understand that God can place calls on His servants differently depending on the season and the assignment he has for them.
John the Baptist, for example, was called to deliver a bold and public message of repentance, confronting immorality in high places. That mission ultimately cost him his life. He was a prophet from the wilderness and he was raised and prepared specifically for that moment.
But Daniel and Joseph were also called to be insiders. Their messages were no less divine, and their impact, was in no way any less powerful. By serving from the inside, they shaped empires not through protest, but through proximity. Both approaches are biblical. Both are valid. What matters is that one follows God’s specific call for their life.
Let us not confuse method with mandate. One can be prophetic from BOTH the inside and from the outside. From the RULING PARTY side or from the OPPOSITION side. BOTH are needed, and BOTH must be led by the Spirit of God.
3. BELIEVERS MUST NOT BE NAÏVE — WE MUST BE WISE AND TACTFUL
One of the greatest dangers we face today is naïve Christianity — alot of well-meaning Christians, but who lack depth, strategy, or discernment and it is these who isually find themselves dissappointed when they see the Lord leading someone like myself, or indeed, any of the many brothers and sisters that God has raised in various missions in the world that were previously considered to be uncharted waters. For the record, if God was not with me, protecting me, and if higher hands were not leading me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Of this, I can testify.
The Bible calls us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). That means we must combine our spiritual purity with practical intelligence and wisdom. Remember that Zeal without knowledge can be very destructive, just like Passion without strategy leads to confusion and instability.
As Christians, when our fellow believers engage in politics, we must not be the first ones to publicly attack, shame, call them names and publicly destroy the work that God is doing through them to expand the influence of the body of Christ.
At the same time, for those of us who manage to get involved in politics or business or anything that brings the reputation of the church and other believers into sharp focus, let us do our best never to resort to immature public behavior, public bickering, or shallow exchanges. Instead, we must model mature, principled, and intelligent engagement that build rather than break. Remember, we are missionaries in these fields.
Remeber that Criticism is not always a sign of courage; sometimes, it just shows a lack of discipline. God calls us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) — with wisdom, and not with noise.
4. ZAMBIA IS NOT BABYLON — OUR CONTEXT IS VERY DIFFERENT
Some Christans assume that all political systems are inherently oppressive or godless. But that is NOT TRUE and in the Zambian context, we must acknowledge our Christian Nation status.
Let me be clear. Zambia is not Babylon. We are a Christian Nation.
And, we are a democracy. Our current president, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, is not a tyrant. He is a democratically elected leader who values and respects the rule of law, human rights, freedoms, consultation, he listens to advice, and operates within a constitutional framework.
Moreover — and this must be said clearly — President Hichilema is a fellow believer. He is a devoted family man, a Christian, and an elder in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He upholds many of the same moral values and convictions that millions of Zambian Christians profess — such as integrity, service, justice, and compassion.
As someone in a working alliance with President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling UPND, I have firsthand experience that President HH is not unapproachable or authoritarian. We have regular opportunities to debate, challenge, and advise within the alliance structure. That is how mature Alliances work. We do not shout at each other in public; we reason together in private.
Some may interpret our lack of public confrontation as silence or compromise. It is neither. It is wisdom. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent (Ecclesiastes 3:7). And effective leadership knows the difference.
5. ZAMBIA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION — WHERE BETTER TO SERVE?
Zambia has declared itself a Christian Nation. That is not a slogan. It is a call to responsibility.
If we believe this declaration, then where better for a servant of God to serve than in a nation that claims Christ as its foundation? Should we not bring righteousness into the very systems that shape our laws, our economy, and our governance?
Retreating from politics leaves a vacuum that others will fill — often without godly principles. But stepping into that space, with integrity and humility, is not a betrayal of faith. It is an expression of it.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I have not entered politics for wealth, fame, or personal gain. I have done so because I believe that faith must shape nations — not from a distance, but from within.
I will continue to support what is right. I will continue to correct what is wrong. I will continue to speak truth — whether to power or to the people — because that is what I believe God has called me to do.
Let us not tear one another down with assumptions and immature criticism. Let us build a nation of wisdom, unity, and godliness. Let us engage as intelligent, Spirit-led believers who understand the times and know what to do (1 Chronicles 12:32).
May God bless you. May God bless Zambia.
DR NEVERS MUMBA SERVANT OF GOD AND CITIZEN OF ZAMBIA
Democratic Union (DU) President Ackim Antony Njobvu says there is need to focus on transforming the country, and has since called on Zambians to put their personal interests aside.
And Njobvu says voting for either UPND or PF and its alliance members in the 2026 elections would be highly risky due to the hatred between government and the former ruling party.
He noted that the ‘beef’ between the UPND and former ruling party would derail Zambia’s development if either of the two is elected into office next year.
Njobvu says there is need for Zambians to vote for leaders whose interests are the country’s development.
Njobvu says it is unfortunate that currently, leaders are focussed on settling personal matters at the expense of national development.
Speaking on a special program on Sinda FM of the eastern province, Njobvu called for the need to practice progressive and issue – based politics.
He called on citizens to have a change of mindset towards the nation. Njobvu said for Zambia to move forward, there is need to usher into government a party that has fresh ideas.
The outspoken politician added that Zambia’s challenges required revolutionary thinking to resolve with leaders who have innovative minds.
Meanwhile, Njobvu expressed happiness that his party continues being embraced across the country as an alternative political movement ahead of next year’s general elections. Njobvu is currently in the eastern province on a party mobilization tour.
PROF KASONSO ROOTS FOR DR. KOPULANDE FOR PRESIDENT
Esteemed fellow citizens of Zambia, yesterday I watched the Emmanuel Mwamba Verified (EMV) program where an eminent son of Zambia offered himself as a candidate to become the 8th President of our Republic, Hon Sebastian Kopulande, PhD. I paid attention to everything he spoke about: the state of our country, lack of energy resources, his personal contributions, his preparedness for the job, and practical solutions to resolve the high cost of living and poverty in Zambia. I believe in his ideas and perspective as they reflect some of my own.
Today, I’m filled with HOPE and DETERMINATION as we look towards the future of our beloved nation. As we approach the pivotal elections of 2026, I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly endorse a REMARKABLE INDIVIDUAL, a VISIONARY LEADER who embodies THE VALUES and ASPIRATIONS of our great country—Dr. Sebastian Kopulande.
Dr. Kopulande is not just a name but a SYMBOL OF PROGRESS, INTEGRITY, and UNITY. His journey has been dedicated to SERVING OUR COMMUNITIES, CHAMPIONING OUR YOUTH, and ADVOCATING FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. He understands the challenges we face—from economic hardships to healthcare imperatives—and has solutions that can guide us toward a prosperous future.
Under Dr. Kopulande’s leadership, we can embody the spirit of innovation and resilience that defines us as Zambians. He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to renewable energy, education reforms, and job creation, fostering a climate where every Zambian can thrive.
HIS PLANS prioritize investments in OUR LOCAL INDUSTRIES, EMPOWERING OUR ENTREPRENEURS, and ENSURING THAT THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR BENEFIT ALL CITIZENS, NOT JUST A SELECT FEW.
Dr. Kopulande believes in the POWER OF COLLABORATION. He envisions Zambia as a place where DIALOGUE AND COOPERATION TRANSCEND POLITICAL DIVIDES. In his vision, EVERY VOICE MATTERS, and EVERY COMMUNITY IS CRITICAL IN SHAPING OUR NATIONAL DESTINY. He will tirelessly HEAL DIVISIONS, REBUILD TRUST, and UNITE US towards common goals.
Moreover, Dr. Kopulande acknowledges the pressing need for a robust healthcare system. We all know that our nation’s health is fundamental to our future. His plans to improve access to quality healthcare and support our healthcare workers are not just policies; they are a call to action for a society where every Zambian can lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
As we move closer to the elections, WE MUST RALLY AROUND A LEADER WHO UNDERSTANDS OUR NEEDS AND HAS THE COURAGE AND INTEGRITY TO ACT ON THEM. Dr. Sebastian Kopulande is that leader. He is not afraid of the tough conversations; he is not daunted by the challenges ahead. Instead, he embraces them with the determination and passion we desperately need as a nation.
Let’s engage in meaningful discussions about our vision for Zambia in the coming months. Let us share our hopes and aspirations and forge a path forward together. I urge you TO RESEARCH, ASK QUESTIONS, and GET INVOLVED. Our future is bright, but only if we work together towards a common purpose.
So, my fellow Zambians, as we prepare for the elections of 2026, let us put our faith in Dr. Sebastian Kopulande—a leader who represents PROGRESS, COMPASSION, and HOPE FOR EVERY ZAMBIAN. Together, we can build a stronger, more unified nation, where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.
Thank you. Let’s stand together and support Dr. Kopulande for President!
It is shocking and disgusting to see how our national debate and political competition has sunk to the lowest pit of immorality. Just because John Sangwa has declared interest in standing for the office of President, suddenly his nationality has become an issue of national importance and proposed investigation.
Others have even brought his marital status into question. May be there is something I have not understood in the statements of those bringing this low level engagement into play. Please help me understand by answering the following:
1. Are you referring to the same John Sangwa who some of you, and the platforms you support, have both quoted and eulogised as an eminent constitutional lawyer, or a Sangwa is born anew and some of us are not aware?
2. At what point does the issue of nationality or citizenship arise ? Is it at registration or at presidential ambition? Does it mean anyone can become a citizen under our registratiin system? 3. Is it that apart from the issue of citizenship, John Sangwa possesses everything that relates to being a good leader?
4. About his marital status, does a presidential candidate require a form C from the civil authority to be cleared? Has the presidential qualification act been joined with the marriages act.?
My observation is that very few of our political participants are mature and reasonable enough to engage in sound and progressive debate.
For those of you who aspire or are already in public office, be reminded that we are all equal citizen and can all aspire to be president. No one should think they hold the key to who should parctipate or qualify to hold any office.
I believe there are laws and institutions that regulate citizens’ involvent in any endeavor within our republic. It is not for fellow participants to turn into referees . Leave Sangwa alone and engage him only to challenge his ideas on governance of this nation.
Even if it has said ” the only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history” I pray that this time we look at our history as it relates to this matter. These attacks on Sangwa are an undertaking of shame and shallow reasoning.
If the organised wisdom of the UPND towards attacking and stopping Sangwa were deployed on the current energy crisis, loadshedding could have ended within two weeks of showing it ugly head.
THE PRICE OF POWER: MUDOLO’S DOLLARS AND THE COPPERBELT’S CRY
By Barbrah Musamba Chama
When a voice from the diaspora like that of Mudolo thunders, “I will raise enough dollars to bring the UPND down,” it is not an empty threat. It is a chillingly calculated promise, one born from the bitter understanding of a new, brutal political truth: in today’s Zambia, ideology is dead, and greed is the new currency of power.
Mudolo has done his homework. He has seen the blueprint for political conquest written not in manifestos, but in the scarred earth of our nation’s richest lands. He understands what we on the ground have witnessed first-hand that any political party with a serious war chest now has the capacity to collapse entire structures, not with ideas, but with cold, hard cash.
Look no further than the Copperbelt, the historic engine of our nation, now a case study in political cannibalism. The promise of “more money in your pockets” has been grotesquely twisted into a frenzied scramble where the connected feast while the masses fight for scraps.
The Black Mountain in Kitwe stands not as a monument to industry, but as a stark symbol of this avarice. What was meant to empower the people has become a contested, violent arena where allegiances are bought and sold, and the promise of collective benefit has been sacrificed at the altar of personal enrichment.
The story grows darker in Chingola, at OB 19. Here, the dream of mineral wealth turned into a nightmare of desperation and death. The very citizens who ushered this government into power were left to perish in the bowels of the earth, while the machinery of the state seemed more focused on managing the narrative than saving lives. The grief of those families is a permanent stain on the conscience of this administration.
And for the most brazen display of greed, one must travel to Mufumbwe. The gold rush there unveiled a venomous truth: that some greedy people would allegedly go as far as killing to clear the land. The accusation that leaders became predators, using violence to secure tenements for themselves, reveals a moral bankruptcy so profound it shakes the very foundations of our democracy.
This is the “homework” Mudolo has reviewed. This is the environment that has been cultivated a political landscape where loyalty is a commodity and the people are collateral damage.
When his promised funding floods in, it will not target the steadfast ideologues. It is designed to teach a very specific, and now pervasive, breed a severe lesson: the politically impotent cowards.
These are the faces that were conspicuously absent in the struggle, who materialized only in the blinding glare of victory, pretending to be “more UPND than others.” They are the fair-weather patriots whose allegiance is to the feeding trough, not the flag. For them, the incoming tide of dollars will be a brutal teacher, exposing their hollow loyalty and washing them away in a torrent of realpolitik.
The warning from afar is clear: a monster of pure greed has been created. And now, its creator may be about to learn that such a creature has no master, only a price.
I CAN MOBILISE FUNDS DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR AGAINST UPND – MUDOLO … but much more important is my transformational programme for Zambia which they don’t have
South Africa’s based Zambian millionaire and entrepreneur Willah Mudolo says he is capable of mobilising sufficient campaign resources to match the ruling UPND “Dollar for Dollar” in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.
And Mudolo says he had met three quarters of the PF leadership who had been impressed with the “transformational programme” he has for Zambia.
Asked by Daily Revelation to speak to the information that he was getting traction from the PF leadership and membership, and how he measured the depth of that traction, Mudolo responded: “A number of PF leaders have met me and I have
I WANT TO RESCUE ZAMBIA FROM A BROKEN POLITICAL SYSTEM– INDEPENDENT 2026 PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT GIVEN KATUTA
By: Thomas Afroman Mwale
Chienge Member of Parliament, Given Katuta, has officially announced her intention to contest the 2026 presidential elections as an independent candidate.

She emphasized that Zambians are yearning for honest and courageous leadership, one that will address the high cost of living, youth unemployment, corruption, and the erosion of national hope.

CHIEF NKANA TO PAY BOWMAN LUSAMBO $25,000 IN MINING DEAL COURT SETTLEMENT
Chief Nkana, Godfrey Shamanena, has entered into a consent agreement with former Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo in a $105,000 dispute arising from the sale of Bisma Mining Limited to Grizzly Mining Limited between 2021 and 2022.
According to the consent judgment seen by Phoenix News and signed by Lusaka High Court Judge Irene Mbewe, the ex-parte Mareva injunction granted on July 16, 2025, which froze Chief Nkana’s Zanaco bank account pending determination of the case, has been discharged.
In the ruling, Chief Nkana agreed to pay Mr. Lusambo $25,000 as full and final settlement of the claim following allegations that he wrongfully pocketed $165,000 arising from negotiations that led to the sale of Bisma Mining Limited to Grizzly Mining Limited between 2021 and 2022.
Under the settlement, each party will bear its own costs, with Mr. Lusambo relinquishing any further monetary claims against the traditional leader after claiming that he was entitled to $105,000 for his role in the sale negotiations from the entire $165,000 payment which was deposited into Chief Nkana’s personal account.
The Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC- had initially froze the funds but later released them, prompting Mr. Lusambo to seek court intervention through a Mareva injunction.
A Mareva injunction is a court order that temporarily prevents a party from transferring or dissipating assets to preserve property while litigation is ongoing.
Mr. Lusambo is currently serving a four-year prison sentence following conviction on unrelated charges.

SARAFINA NTHENGA ENGAGES COURT TO RESTRAIN XAVEN FROM USING KOPALA QUEEN BRAND
By: Thomas Afroman Mwale
Social Media personality Sarafina Nthenga Bwembya has engaged the Ndola High Court to restrain musician Rachael Chakwa Mwewa, popularly known as Xaven, from using the Kopala Queen and Ba Kopala Laka trademarks without her consent.
Following the legal action, the court on October 8, 2025, granted an injunction stopping Xaven and anyone doing business with her from using the Kopala Queen brand name, slogan, and related trademarks until the matter is fully determined.
In a statement released to Sun FM TV News Sarafina Nthenga Bwembya confirmed that the injunction also applies to all advertisements, songs, jingles, and promotional materials bearing the disputed trademarks.
Her management has since written to major organizations including Trade Kings Group, Goodlife Events, media houses and music promoters, advising them to desist from using or promoting the brands in any form without authorization.
The case, filed under cause number 2025/HN/328, centers on ownership rights to the Kopala Queen identity, which Sarafina Nthenga claims to have registered and managed.
The company has emphasized that the directive remains in effect until the court delivers its final ruling.
Bheki Cele says he’s willing to testify over ‘Cat’ Matlala corruption allegations
Former police minister Bheki Cele says he is prepared to testify before either the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry or Parliament’s ad hoc committee to address allegations linking him to businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who is accused of benefitting from a R360 million SAPS tender.
The development follows a series of explosive testimonies before the Madlanga Commission, where witnesses, including KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, claimed that WhatsApp messages from Matlala’s phone revealed money exchanges and communication between Matlala and Cele dating back to December 2024.
Matlala’s company, Medicare24 Tshwane District, received the controversial SAPS health risk management tender, which was later cancelled after investigators uncovered evidence of fraud and non-performance.
Reports also allege that Cele stayed in a luxury Pretoria apartment owned by Matlala before the contract was approved.
Cele has faced pressure to publicly respond. His stated willingness to appear before either forum marks his strongest indication yet that he intends to confront the allegations head-on.
Both the Madlanga Commission and Parliament’s committee are probing claims of corruption, political interference, and organized crime networks within the police. Further testimonies and digital evidence are expected in the coming weeks.
Mkhwanazi sparks outrage after calling for spies to probe ‘captured’ journalists
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has sparked outrage after calling for journalists to be investigated by state security agencies.
Appearing before Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing alleged corruption within the police service, Mkhwanazi accused some journalists of being “handled by Crime Intelligence” and “pushing dangerous narratives” that weaken state institutions.
He singled out City Press reporter Abram Mashego whom suggesting that he and others may be “captured.”
“You are still pushing this narrative, and I hope you are not one of those captured,” Mkhwanazi told Mashego.
Mkhwanazi said he had compiled a list of “problematic journalists” and called for “heavy penalties,” including job losses or imprisonment, for reporters who publish what he described as misinformation.
His remarks drew sharp condemnation from the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) and several media houses, who labelled the comments an attack on press freedom. News24 described Mkhwanazi’s comments as “a threat to democracy,” while City Press demanded evidence to support his claims.
Mkhwanazi defended his stance, saying his criticism was directed at individuals, not the media as a whole. However, his comments have raised concerns about attempts to intimidate journalists reporting on the police and intelligence sector.

BREAKING NEWS:WE KILLED THE WOMEN AND FED THEIR BODIES TO PIGS TO CONCEAL EVIDENCE
Rudolph de Wet, who has since turned state witness has given a chilling testimony in the Sebayeng pig farm murder trial at the Polokwane High Court on Wednesday.
De Wet told the court that Zachariah Olivier had given him a hunting rifle, who then instructed him to shoot at people who trespassed on the farm.
Maria Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu were shot dead at Overwatcht farm on August 17th last year while looking for dairy products.
The 20 – year old says he and accused number 1, Zachariah Olivier, were intending to destroy the evidence when they destroyed the firearms and bullet cartridges used to shoot the two women whose bodies were thrown into a pigsty in August last year.
“A day after the incident happened, Olivier dismantled the firearms into small pieces while I watched and kept a lookout for anyone who was approaching,” said De Wet
“We also picked up the bullet cartridges from the scene and drove to the western side of farm and disposed the pieces of the firearms and cartridges inside a borehole,” he continued
“We then burned the wooden pieces of the firearm and all of this was done so that we may conceal evidence.
He says two days after the incident happened, Olivier told him to act normally and report for work.
De Wet further testified that the bodies were thrown in a pigsty to try and conceal evidence.
CHIPOLOPOLO Boys Head Coach Avram Grant says the Chipolopolo Boys deserved their hard fought win over Tanzania on Wednesday evening despite it not being their best game.
Fashion Sakala timed his run perfectly to slot home from close range off a neat outside of the foot brilliant low cross from Lubambo Musonda to earn Zambia a narrow 1-0 win over the Taifa Stars .
Grant was quick to praise Tanzania who he said gave the Chipolopolo a ‘fight’ and caused his side a lot of difficulties.
“Tough match, Tanzania played very well, there was a fight, they passed the ball, it caused a lot of difficulties but we managed to deal with it and I think we deserve the win,” Grant said.
“The players gave everything and it was good to win again because after five games before we lost once and we want to go back to the track. It’s not easy to win away but I’m happy for the win.”
When asked about finishing second in Group E, Grant said the team first needed to beat Niger on Sunday to start thinking about the group standings.
The Israeli gaffer believes his side has been improving and one of the points for him is to keep trying to win all their games.
“The second place, so for this we need to play Niger, if we win against them probably we will be in front of them, we’ll be in second place. And in Zambia it’s a process since I came, it’s a process, we’re always improving, improving and one of the points we need to win all the games, we cannot win all the games, we need to win, to want to win all the games. And also it’s good preparation also for the Africa Cup, you know, we qualified for the second time, after a long time we didn’t qualify, so I think it’s also good preparation. Now, this is the last game with the group, we want to win the game,” he said.
“I think first half I was not so happy from the performance, we didn’t manage to pass the ball like we want to pass the ball, quickly forward and this, but also we need to say a good word about Tanzania, they caused us a lot of problems with the ball and without the ball but second half it was better, it was the better team, we played better than the first half. It was not one of our greatest games but we deserved to win.”
“I think in the first half we didn’t pass the ball well, we didn’t play forward with good passes, the movement was not great, but I was happy also from the effort of the third half, we made an effort also. Tanzania caused us a lot of problems, they pressed well, they didn’t play well, they didn’t give us space to play, we couldn’t play behind, you know we have very quick players in the attack,” he added.
The former Chelsea boss feels Africa has a lot of passion and talent but has a lot to learn from Europe both on and off the pitch.
Grant is confident African teams would be reaching the World Cup semifinals at every global showpiece if the continent worked one a few things.
“In second half we changed the system, for from 4-3-3 we played with two strikers and the striker behind like 4-2-3-1 and I think it was, for this game it was better than us and then we created chances and we won and we deserved to win.
We have one hour to answer this question. To answer, there is many good things in Africa, many good things, there is a passion, there is good players, athletic players and everything, but need to improve a few things, need to, can learn from Europe about organization, about tactics, about things that can help to African football because there is, I love Africa.
A lot of talents, passion for football, good people even around, but I think there is a gap to improve on the pitch and off the pitch because my vision, I say it even to the president of the CAF, my vision that if they will do three, four things, I can guarantee that every World Cup, one African team to be in the semi-final, I can guarantee,” he said.
“They need to work hard. They need to think about this and really improve things, especially off the pitch and then it will affect what’s happening on the pitch, about knowledge about football and something When you come from Europe, you see the difference, the difference by these things, but I think in Africa there is a very good base, very good base of players and I would improve three, four things, I say to the president of the CAF, I say to him, do one, two, three.
I guarantee with you, every World Cup African team in the semi-final. It’s impossible that this continent, the entire team, except Morocco last time. Morocco is North Africa.”
FC Muza Players Boycott Training Over Unpaid Salaries and Bonuses, Club Responds
FC Muza players boycotted Tuesday’s training session over unpaid September salaries and winning bonuses for three games, Bolanews has been told.
The Mazabuka-based MTN Super League side, who started the 2025–26 season impressively, are now facing internal turmoil as financial issues disrupt preparations.
According to a source close to the club, Tuesday morning’s training at the team’s base in Mazabuka saw only the coaching staff present, with no players reporting for duty.
“Players did not show up for training this morning. Only the coaches were there waiting, but the players refused to take part,” the source told Bolanews.
The boycott is allegedly due to unpaid September salaries and outstanding winning bonuses for three matches.
However, the club’s secretary general, Ellias Banda, denied the reports.
“It’s not true. I think they are just reports,” Banda told Bolanews in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Muza began the 2025–26 MTN Super League season in fine form, picking up a point on opening day against Zanaco and winning three games in a row, earning praise for their attacking football. However, their recent performances have dipped, losing two consecutive games before managing a hard-fought draw against Power Dynamos last weekend.
The club has been in a period of transition following the departure of Keith Mweemba, who resigned as club president after his election as Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president.
“The leadership change has created a bit of uncertainty, and the financial delays seem to have added pressure on everyone,” a source familiar with the club’s operations explained.
Despite Banda’s claim that the players did not boycott, Bolanews sources confirmed that attempts to resume normal activities hit another setback on Wednesday, with the scheduled morning training session also failing to take place. – Bola News
Pepe admits that he SLEPT in the same bed as his parents until the age of 17!
️ Pepe: “Until I came to Portugal, at the age of 17, I slept in bed with my mother, so imagine what it was like.
“I was already big and I slept with my parents, so I imagine my father did not like to have me there.
“This is interesting: the other day I was talking to my mother and she was telling me that I really liked to run my hand through her hair and I told her that maybe I already knew it would be too much time away from her.” 梁
The Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Félix Tshisekedi has publicly urged Rwandan President Paul Kagame to end Rwanda’s alleged support for the M23 rebel group.
Speaking at the EU’s Global Gateway Forum in Belgium, Tshisekedi departed from his prepared remarks to call on Kagame to “give the order to the M23 troops your country supports,” warning that the violence “has already killed enough people.”
He described the moment as a turning point, saying, “History will be our judge.” Kagame, who was in the audience, did not immediately respond.
The rare public appeal, delivered before global leaders and amplified on social media, raises diplomatic pressure over the protracted conflict that has displaced millions in eastern DRC.
South Africa extended validity of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits by 18 months to May 28, 2027, giving 178,000 permit holders continued legal status while government consults on long-term solutions.
Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber issued Immigration Directive No. 21 of 2025 on Tuesday through Government Gazette No. 53484. The permits were set to expire on November 28, 2025.
A South African High Court previously ruled that termination of the program was illegal and required fair consultation.
“I have decided to extend the validity of the Zimbabwe Exemption permits until May 28, 2027,” Schreiber said in the directive.
The permit allows approximately 178,000 Zimbabweans to live, work and study in South Africa. Protection includes immunity from arrest, deportation or detention related to permit status.
The Immigration Advisory Board (IAB), appointed April 1, 2025, has met several times to discuss immediate and long-term solutions for permit holders.
“Critical stakeholders will need to be part of a consultation process,” Schreiber said.
The program began in 2009 to control migration during Zimbabwe’s economic crisis when hyperinflation drove thousands across the Limpopo River border.
Extensions have repeatedly prevented deportations while South Africa grapples with immigration policy amid domestic opposition to foreign workers.
Home Affairs faces significant backlogs processing ZEP and other permit applications.
The directive protects holders from legal action while allowing travel in and out of South Africa. Holders need not present valid exemption certificates when applying for temporary visas.
Anti-migrant campaigns continue in Johannesburg targeting undocumented foreigners, highlighting tensions around immigration policy.
The extension provides temporary relief while avoiding immediate resolution of broader immigration questions facing Africa’s most industrialized economy.
South African police raided the home of suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya on Wednesday and seized electronic devices as investigations intensify into alleged links between senior officers and criminal syndicates.
A laptop and several cellphones were seized from Sibiya’s Centurion residence after dozens of officers from specialized units arrived at his property. South African Police Service has denied reports of Sibiya’s arrest.
At least 50 heavily armed members from the National Intervention Unit, Special Task Force and Crime Intelligence descended on the property surrounded by high walls. Sibiya was consulting with lawyers in Sandton when informed by his wife that a police helicopter was hovering over their home.
The raid follows explosive testimony before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee where KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi linked former police minister Bheki Cele to suspicious money transfers involving alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi Matlala.
“This is abuse of power. I know they want to push me out. I will not resign; they must fire me,” Sibiya told reporters at his residence.
Mkhwanazi testified under oath that Cele sent Matlala a bank account number not in Cele’s name, after which Matlala deposited money and sent proof of payment to Cele, who acknowledged receipt. “This is not just about phone calls. It’s about money. It’s criminal,” Mkhwanazi said.
Matlala’s company Medicare 24 was awarded a three-year health services contract worth 360 million rand with the police service in 2024 despite allegations of fraud, fronting and collusion. The contract was cancelled in May 2025 by national police commissioner Fannie Masemola.
When approached for comment on Wednesday, Cele declined to discuss the allegations, stating the president is dealing with the matter.
Sibiya will appear at the Ad Hoc Committee probing allegations by Mkhwanazi. He was placed on leave of absence in July following allegations that he colluded with information peddler Brown Mogotsi and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu to disband a political killings task team.
The Political Killings Task Team, formed in 2018, had handled over 600 cases, secured 436 arrests and achieved 128 convictions including 29 life sentences totalling 1,881 years in prison before its disbandment on December 31, 2024.
The raid is related to a defeating the ends of justice case regarding Sibiya’s decision to remove dockets from the task team. During testimony at the Madlanga Commission, Mkhwanazi accused Sibiya of defeating the ends of justice when he ordered that dockets be transferred to his office.
Matlala was denied bail in September on charges of attempted murder, money laundering and defeating the ends of justice related to a failed hit on his former lover Tebogo Thobejane in October 2023. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said investigators continue linking firearms seized from alleged hitmen to 18 cases of murder and attempted murder.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said investigations are ongoing as mentioned at the parliamentary committee and the Madlanga Commission. “As SAPS, we are not aware of any person who has been arrested thus far, and that includes Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya,” Mathe said.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was placed on special leave in July 2025 following allegations of involvement with criminal syndicates.
South African police have initiated a massive search for a dangerous armed gang following a bus robbery that left two passengers dead and dozens robbed. The attack occurred on Wednesday night along the crucial N1 highway
The ordeal began when a Delta bus, carrying 54 passengers from Zimbabwe, departed from Randfontein. After collecting more travellers in Midrand and Pretoria, the coach was proceeding towards its destination. The situation turned deadly approximately eight kilometres before the Nylplaza Tollgate. According to police reports, the calm of the evening was shattered when two men seated at the rear of the vehicle brandished firearms and began threatening fellow passengers.
Limpopo Police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, provided a chilling account of the events that unfolded. He stated,
“It is alleged that one male passenger, aged 30, attempted to disarm one of the suspects. Several other passengers also tried to intervene, showing immense bravery.”
This act of defiance, however, triggered a violent response from the assailants. Colonel Ledwaba continued,
“During the struggle, the suspects fired several shots inside the bus, fatally wounding the male passenger and an unknown female, estimated to be 25 years old.”
Delta Bus Passengers Robbed Of Their Belongings Following the shooting, the armed duo proceeded to rob the terrified passengers of their valuables, including an undisclosed sum of cash and numerous mobile phones. The chaos was further compounded by the appearance of a mysterious vehicle, which police believe was part of a premeditated plan. The colonel explained,
“Reports further indicate that an unknown vehicle, whose make, model and registration number are not yet known, had been following the bus and stopped behind it after the shooting. The suspects fled the scene in that vehicle, making their escape under the cover of darkness.”
South African Police Hunt Armed Gang After Deadly Bus Robbery Authorities are now scouring for evidence and appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects and their accomplices. The cold-blooded execution of the robbery and the subsequent escape using a waiting car suggest a highly coordinated criminal operation.
As the investigation continues, the community and regular users of the cross-border bus service are left grappling with fear and uncertainty, awaiting news of a breakthrough in this tragic case.
