ECONOMIC SHOCKWAVES AHEAD: ZAMBIA FACES POTENTIAL US TRAVEL BAN IMPACT

ECONOMIC SHOCKWAVES AHEAD: ZAMBIA FACES POTENTIAL US TRAVEL BAN IMPACT

Zambia’s economy is staring down potential disruption following widespread concern over a perceived travel ban targeting Zambian nationals by the United States government. While no official statement has been issued from Washington, local analysts and business leaders warn that the repercussions could be devastating for key sectors of the economy if such restrictions are enacted or even rumored to be in place.

Dr. Esther Banda, a respected economist, has expressed deep concern over the development, citing its likely impact on tourism, trade, and international investment. In a sit-down interview with Kumwesu Business, she described the situation as a “ticking time bomb” for Zambia’s already vulnerable economy, which is still recovering from global market shocks and local fiscal constraints.

She emphasized that tourism, one of Zambia’s fastest-growing sectors and a significant source of employment and foreign exchange, would be among the first to feel the blow. Zambia’s top tourist attractions such as the Victoria Falls, South Luangwa National Park, and Lower Zambezi National Park are especially popular with American tourists whose absence would create a major revenue gap.
..

Tourism operators in Livingstone and Mfuwe have started reporting early warning signs, including an increase in trip cancellations, fewer inquiries from US-based travel agencies, and growing anxiety over international travel insurance conditions. With Zambia expecting a strong 2025 tourism rebound, the potential travel restriction could derail anticipated growth projections.

Beyond tourism, Dr. Banda noted that Zambia’s export portfolio—particularly non-traditional exports destined for the US market—faces additional uncertainty. Key products such as honey, groundnuts, cotton lint, and floriculture supplies could suffer delays, reduced orders, or pricing disadvantages if bilateral tensions escalate.

“Zambia needs the American market. Even a minor disruption in trade logistics or buyer sentiment could shift export dynamics in favor of our regional competitors,” Dr. Banda explained. She warned that local producers who rely on consistency and scale may be forced to redirect goods at lower prices or risk losses.

Adding to this is the broader impact on investor sentiment. The United States remains a key investor in Zambia’s energy, telecommunications, and agriculture sectors. Perceptions of instability or strained diplomatic relations could dampen investor confidence and delay project rollouts or funding disbursements.

Dr. Banda also raised concern about remittances from Zambians living in the US. Many families in Zambia rely on financial support from relatives abroad. A travel ban could affect student visa applications, family visits, and even business exchange programs, tightening household income and limiting educational opportunities.

In response, she is urging the Zambian government to act swiftly by initiating diplomatic engagement with the US. “Government must not wait for the worst to happen. Our foreign affairs and trade ministers need to get ahead of this issue, seek clarification, and begin repairing any miscommunication that may exist,” she said.

As speculation grows, the private sector is pressing for more transparency and reassurances. Chambers of commerce, export associations, and tourism boards have jointly called for government and embassy briefings to address public fears and prevent knee-jerk reactions from businesses and consumers alike.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has remained largely silent, fueling further speculation. However, diplomatic sources suggest that behind-the-scenes communication between Lusaka and Washington has begun, with both parties expected to release a joint statement in the coming days.

Until then, Zambia faces an atmosphere of uncertainty. Stakeholders from every corner of the economy are holding their breath, hoping that the perceived ban is either a misunderstanding or a matter still open to diplomatic negotiation. In the meantime, businesses are being urged to diversify their markets, build resilience, and prepare contingency strategies.

Dr. Banda concludes with a message of cautious optimism: “Zambia has survived greater storms. But this moment requires wisdom, agility, and diplomacy. Our economic future may depend on how fast and how wisely we act today.”

WYNTER CANNOT KNOW LUNGU’S DEATH WISH – PF

PATRIOTIC FRONT (PF) secretary general Brenda Nyirenda says Wynter Kabimba cannot know the late former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s death wish.

Nyirenda was reacting to Kabimba’s remarks that he knew Lungu very well and he could not have wished for President Hakainde Hichilema to stay away from his funeral. In an interview, Tuesday, Nyirenda said only the family who were at Lungu’s death bed would be privy to his death wish.

“Was he there in the dying moments? How can someone who has known an individual, it could be for a long time, not there on the death bed be saying that he knew the person very well?

R. Kelly’s Lawyers Plead for Trump Pardon After Prison Overdose Scare

By: TMZ

Lawyers representing embattled R&B singer R. Kelly have formally requested a presidential pardon from  U.S. President Donald Trump, just a day after the artist was reportedly hospitalized due to a drug overdose.

The legal team claims their client is being targeted in what they describe as a calculated plot against him while in prison, suggesting the overdose may not have been accidental.

The plea for clemency, though symbolic given Trump is no longer in office, aims to draw public attention to what the lawyers allege are injustices in R. Kelly’s legal battles.

R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence after being convicted on multiple charges, including sexual exploitation and racketeering, in a case that drew international attention.

“Respect  Lungu’s family, write the law — and let common sense prevail”- State Counsel John Sangwa

Two Weeks After Lungu’s Death, Legal Vacuum and Funeral Disputes Stir National Conscience

State Counsel John Sangwa: “Respect the family, write the law — and let common sense prevail.”

By Staff Reporter
Lusaka, 19 June 2025

Two weeks after the passing of Zambia’s sixth Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the nation remains in mourning yet that mourning is now clouded by legal uncertainty, conflicting protocols, and a tense standoff between the State and the late President’s family.

President Lungu, who died on 5th June 2025 at the age of 68 while undergoing treatment in Johannesburg, is remembered as the “Father of Infrastructure,” credited for spearheading transformative road, housing, and hospital projects during his tenure.

But despite his contributions, his final journey has exposed a glaring gap in Zambia’s legal system: the country has no binding law governing the funeral of a sitting or former head of state.

In a widely circulated interview on Emmanuel Mwamba Verified, constitutional lawyer and State Counsel John Sangwa was unequivocal:

“There is no law in Zambia for state funerals. What we are seeing is not law it is courtesy. And a courtesy can be rejected.”

Sangwa argued that the current disputes surrounding President Lungu’s burial could have been avoided if Zambia had a clearly defined legal framework similar to what exists in countries like Tanzania. There, state funerals are codified: designated burial sites, clearly outlined roles for the family and government, and budgetary provisions are enshrined in law.

“We must emulate Tanzania. They have rules we have circulars. But circulars are not law. Favours are not law,” he said.

Zambia has lost five presidents since independence:

Kenneth Kaunda (d. 2021, aged 97)

Levy Mwanawasa (d. 2008, aged 59)

Frederick Chiluba (d. 2011, aged 68)

Michael Sata (d. 2014, aged 77)

Edgar Lungu (d. 2025, aged 68)

Yet, Sangwa noted, no legislation has ever been passed to formally guide state funerals or define the boundaries between government and family authority.

“We must now pass a law on state funerals covering budget allocations, days of national mourning, burial sites, and the rights of the deceased’s family. Without it, we are improvising. And that’s both dangerous and disrespectful.”

Citing the example of President Mwanawasa, whose request to be buried at his farm was ignored, Sangwa reminded the public that the Wills and Administration of Estates Act must apply equally—even to presidents.

“That was unlawful. Not even a President should override a citizen’s last will and testament,” he asserted.

On the ongoing dispute, Sangwa emphasized that former First Lady Esther Lungu and her children are the rightful custodians of President Lungu’s final wishes.

“If the family chooses not to attend the funeral, then no one else should. In the absence of law, common sense and decency must prevail. The family’s wishes must come first.”

He added with firmness:

“You cannot force your way into someone’s funeral. That is not law it’s intrusion. And it deepens wounds instead of healing them.”

Sangwa acknowledged the history of political hostility between President Lungu and the current administration, warning that this history cannot be dismissed when addressing the present impasse.

“When you mistreat someone in life, you cannot expect full trust in death. It’s that simple. This is why we need law to eliminate suspicion, build confidence, and help the nation heal.”

He urged President Hakainde Hichilema to exercise humility and restraint:

“Do not force your presence where it is not welcome. If the family does not want you there, respect that. Support them from a distance. That is true leadership.”

Sangwa concluded with a powerful message of unity and legal reform:

“The people hurting the most are the widow and the children. Everything else public sentiment, political image comes second. Let us honour the family. Then let us fix this mess permanently.”

“Let’s pass a State Funeral Law. Let’s not improvise again. Let this painful moment be the moment Zambia matures legally and morally.”

As Zambia remembers Edgar Lungu, the challenge now is not only to preserve his legacy of roads and hospitals, but to build lasting bridges of law, empathy, and national healing.

Sangwa further emphasized that once the former President is laid to rest, Zambia must quickly refocus on pressing national issues, including poverty alleviation, job creation, and restoring public trust.

“We owe the Lungu family peace—and the country, progress.”

Govt releases statement on repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu remains.

REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA
PRESS STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Government wishes to inform the nation that the remains of the Late Sixth President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, were not repatriated to Zambia today. We acknowledge that this is contrary to the previous announcement that the remains would be received in Zambia, today Wednesday, 18th June 2025.

This is not the outcome we sought. We acknowledge the disappointment this may bring to many, and we share in that sentiment.

Throughout this trying time, you, the Zambian people, have exemplified the core values that define us in our motto of “One Zambia, One Nation”.

Over the past two weeks, the Government of the Republic of Zambia has been fully engaged with the bereaved family of our late Sixth President, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, to secure the dignified repatriation of his mortal remains from South Africa and the conduct of a State Funeral here at home. Government has also made efforts to engage the Government of the Republic of South Africa to assist with the repatriation of the remains of the late former Head of State through diplomatic efforts which resulted in the arrangement for military honours to be accorded at the send off ceremony of the late former President of the Republic of Zambia.

Despite the challenges encountered along the way, the discussions yielded significant progress. On Saturday, 14 June 2025, Government and family reached a common understanding, after which a joint press briefing was held in Pretoria on Sunday June 15, 2025. A detailed programme was then publicly announced by the family, outlining the arrival of the body in Lusaka on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, and the burial on Monday, 23 June 2025. In this same joint address, it was announced that the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema would superintend over the State Funeral, as Head of State.

The Government and the people of Zambia are as per our laws and tradition, on matters related to the handling of the affairs of a deceased related to the Republican affairs of our 6th Republican President still prepared to accord our former Head of State still the respect that is due to him as a former Head of State of this country. The State Funeral was to honour his services to this nation, and to accord the people of Zambia an opportunity to bid him farewell and a dignified funeral.

Nevertheless, Government remains open, and indeed committed, to re-engagement until an amicable resolution is achieved.

In that spirit, we are grateful for the continued mediation by senior church leaders who are faithfully serving as neutral facilitators between Government and the family. Their counsel and prayers are most welcome at this delicate hour.

The Government wishes to appeal to each one of us to remain calm, united, and prayerful. Let us avoid speculation, divisive rhetoric, or actions that may inflame emotions. Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu served this nation at the highest level. He deserves a final resting place marked by dignity, decorum, and national solidarity.

At an appropriate moment, the President will address the nation and provide further guidance. Until then, the Government will continue its consultations with the family, mindful of the need to accord our late former President the honour commensurate with his office and service.

May the Almighty God guide our deliberations, comfort the bereaved family, and bless the Republic of Zambia as we navigate this trying period together.

I thank you, and may God bless our great nation

PF supports Lungu family says Nakacinda after body repatriation drama

PF supports Lungu family says Nakacinda after body repatriation drama

WITH the late former president Edgar Lungu’s return home postponed at the eleventh hour, for the second time, Patriotic Front (PF) faction secretary general Raphael Nakacinda has assured the Lungu family and the nation that the former ruling party is standing firmly by the bereaved.

Addressing journalists yesterday, Nakacinda said that despite the confusion surrounding the cancellation of yesterday’s scheduled repatriation of Lungu’s remains, the PF and Tonse Alliance were not rattled, but resolute in their support for the family’s wishes.

Nakacinda revealed that the party had worked closely with the former Head of State and his family since he left office in 2021 and fully understands the sensitive position the family finds itself in amid mounting political tension and public scrutiny.

“We have consistently stated that our position is to remain standing with the family,” said Nakacinda.

The PF leader used the moment to call on the government to handle matters surrounding the death and funeral of Lungu with compassion, consultation, and dignity.

He added that when families and citizens raise concerns, they deserve respectful answers and not threats.

“We want to urge government and the UPND that there is a better way to deal with some of these matters,” he added.

The remains of President Lungu were expected to arrive in the country yesterday, but the programme was cancelled following developments Nakacinda described as pressure that “besieged the family” over the past few days.

It’s been 14 days since the death of Lungu in South Africa which resulted in Government initially declaring a seven day mourning period but due to misunderstanding from the berieved family’s side the repatriation was halted for yesterday leading to the extension of the mourning by nine days.

But at the 11th hour, while reporters and the defence force in that country waited for the body to be repatriated, everything was called off with Lungu’s family citing a likelihood of a breach in the agreement arrived at during Sundays briefing of how the family wanted to proceed with funeral and repatriation process.

The funeral has overshadowed a lot of events with the Zambian Association of Musician Brian Bwembya AKA B Flow lamenting because entertainment Day events were halted, making it hard for artiste to generate income.

RPP demands immediate arrest of everyone holding hostage Lungu’s body

RPP demands immediate arrest of everyone holding hostage Lungu’s body

THE Republican Progressive Party (RPP) is demanding for handcuffs on anyone allegedly holding hostage the body of former president Edgar Lungu, saying the act has not only delayed his burial but also insulted the dignity of national mourning.

The opposition party described the bizarre standoff as a calculated attempt to embarrass President Hakainde Hichilema, undermine state authority, and stir confusion across a grieving nation.

According to the RPP, the refusal by some individuals or groups to release the Lungu’s mortal remains borders on “treason” and must be met with swift arrests before the mourning turns into chaos.

“It is clear from the foregoing that there is a deliberate and calculated intention to embarrass the Head of State, undermine the authority of the Government, and sow confusion across the country,” RPP national women secretary Simangile Magodi said in a statement.

Magodi accused the alleged culprits of treating the former Head of State’s remains like political collateral in a bid to incite public disorder and sabotage government operations, all while the country is still coming to terms with Lungu’s passing.

She said this was not just a matter of political disagreement but a dangerous attempt to destabilise Zambia through emotional blackmail and theatrics.

The RPP further warned that the ongoing speculation and public anxiety could deepen the national wound, especially with the economy already feeling the ripple effects of the unrest.

The party demanded that law enforcement agencies round up all individuals involved and restore order.

“The peace, dignity, and order of the Republic must be preserved,” Magodi declared.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that the Lungu may have decided to bury the former Head of State in South Africa.

However, Government called for calm, unity prayers as President Hichilema is on top of matters while consultation with the families continue 14 days after Lungu’s death.

Edgar Lungu Should Not Be Re-Installed As A President In Death- Laura Miti

By Laura Miti

ECL Should Not Be Re-Installed As A President In Death

Government should not allow former president Edgar Lungu to preside over the country in death, especially that he lost power thoroughly when he was alive.

What we are seeing are not attempts to respect the dead or the wishes of the dead, these are blatant attempts to re-instate ECL as a president in death. Since ECL died, the PF have been attempting to run a parallel state and this can be seen in the demands and or pronouncements the party has been making such as;

1.) Declaring A Seven Day Mourning Period. The PF declared a seven day period of national mourning before government announced the official one, with which authority? We hope to know later.

2. The head of state should not preside over the state funeral of a former head of state. This perhaps was the clearest attempt by the PF to undermine and possibly show disregard to the presidency, maybe this is plan B? We never will know

3. We will choose who speaks: Again here the PF were actually trying to show that we are in charge, ECL is in charge even in death.

Ala it’s enough now. We have seen the bigger person and honestly, we have always known the bigger person.

The PF can not and should not be allowed to continue sailing on treasonous waters all in the name of a funeral, they are not only undermining the presidency, they are manipulating a country, trying to gain entry using the doors of empathy, it’s enough!

A Nation in Mourning: The Funeral, the Family, and the Forgotten People of Zambia

A Nation in Mourning: The Funeral, the Family, and the Forgotten People of Zambia

By:Tobbius Chilembo Hamunkoyo – LLB, Author, Scientist , Political and Governance Activist

19/06/25

A Death That Shook a Nation

On June 5, 2025 , Zambia held its breath. Edgar Chagwa Lungu , the nation’s former and sixth Republican President , had passed away while undergoing treatment in South Africa.

In that moment, history paused. For many, his leadership was a time of promise and turmoil , shaping the political landscape in ways both celebrated and criticized.

His passing should have been an opportunity for reflection, unity, and national healing.

Instead, Zambia witnessing unfolding crisis, a battle over legacy, state authority, and the very identity of the nation itself mother Zambia. What should have been a solemn farewell has quickly became a test of Zambia’s democratic integrity somehow.

The Constitutional Dilemma, Who Owns a President’s Legacy? Is it the state or the family?

A presidency is not a family title, it is a public trust, it is a constitutional office, granted by the people and not the family, upheld by the Constitution, and carried beyond the tenure of the individual who once occupied the office.

Zambia’s Constitution Amendment No. 2 of 2016 affirms that governance must reflect public will, not private influence .

By tradition, the state plays a leading role in honoring a former head of state. A state funeral is more than a ceremony we must know, it is a constitutional duty , ensuring military honors, national remembrance, and historical recognition. Also bearing in mind that a state has defined leadership.

Yet, the Lungu family’s reluctance to allow full state participation has created a troubling precedent. Can a private family override the interests of the nation? Can grief be used as a political tool , distorting public processes for personal reasons?

These are questions Zambia must confront, not only for today but for its future leadership.

Politics vs. Tradition, When Personal Rivalries Eclipse National Duty

Zambians are not strangers to the political division in this country, but few if not most of them expected a funeral ,a moment of mourning with respect and not to become another battlefield for power struggles.

Supporters of former president Edgar Lungu and President Hakainde Hichilema have reignited bitter electoral feuds, arrests, and accusations dating back years. This is because the PF function of Given Lubinda, Nakachinda and Lawyer Makebi Zulu esq have raised suspicions regarding the death of ECL, that he was not treated well as a former head of state.

Social media is flooded with debates about past treason charges, political persecutions that President Hakainde Hichilema underwent while in opposition.

The lines between honor and partisanship have blurred. Instead of uniting in grief, Zambians are drawn into another unnecessary conflict, one where emotions are manipulated and respect is sidelined, are we truly a Christian nation?

Diplomatic Embarrassment and the World’s Watching Eyes

Zambia’s political discord is no longer a private affair, it is playing out on the global stage, sad indeed.

South Africa, having hosted former President Edgar Lungu’s final days, expected a smooth repatriation process.

Instead, the world has witnessed infighting, delays, and controversy surrounding his return.Does the Lungu family and Lawyer Makebi Zulu esq consider this? If yes what are they doing?

I am sure foreign leaders who are preparing to pay their respects, are now forced to navigate a confusing political spectacle .

What should have been a dignified farewell has exposed Zambia’s internal fractures, raising concerns about the nation’s ability to uphold its own traditions.

The Cost of Chaos, The People Who Bear the Burden

As Zambia debates Lungu’s funeral, ordinary citizens suffer quietly.

Events are canceled , businesses halted, and youth—especially those in the arts and entertainment sector, Are finding themselves without income. why ? National mourning still at play, it is also true that DJs, event planners, performers, vendors, and marketers are left in financial uncertainty.

The prolonged mourning has transformed a national tragedy into an economic temporary hardship.

It is said “When elephants fight, the grass suffers.” And in Zambia, the people are the grass, trampled beneath political ambitions and family disputes.

A Defining Moment, Choosing Dignity Over Division

If the Lungu family refuses state participation, the government must make a firm decision, either step aside entirely or reclaim its constitutional role in overseeing the funeral.

Yet it is true that history will remember,  Who acted with dignity,
Who upheld national unity, Who respected constitutional principles
and Who let pride overshadow national interests.

Zambia stands at a crossroads, either it honors tradition, or it allows personal conflicts to dictate state affairs .

It is again said “When a lion dies, the savannah bows, not in agreement, but in respect for the throne.”

This is bigger than ECL Family or the state. It is about Zambia’s democratic and identity .How President Hakainde Hichilema handles the situation he will live to be remembered .

Let us bow, not to personalities, but to the Republic of Zambia .

Mindset Must Change

PROLONGED KEEPING OF ECL BODY, CHALLENGES WE ARE SLOWLY GETTING INTO – MARK SIMUUWE

PROLONGED KEEPING OF ECL BODY, CHALLENGES WE ARE SLOWLY GETTING INTO – MARK SIMUUWE

1. There’s a likely push to have the body belong to the state or council if someone dies.

2. No one in the country can keep a dead body in their home.

3. Under international law, the remains of a foreign national who dies abroad must be repatriated to their original country, or the foreign country can bury the body.

4. Keeping the body for too long is a health hazard to everyone, including family members.

5. It may decompose, leading to a possible ban on body viewing and restrictions on last respects, as embalming may have limitations.

6. Flying the body may violate international aviation rules, resulting in an inappropriate packaging that doesn’t fit a former head of state. Military aircrafts or the South African Military may be involved, as seen when President Mwanawasa’s remains were returned home using French military aircraft.

7. Our government must finance the repatriation of the remains and provide a state and military funeral, which they’ve done.

8. We should appeal to the family members to keep away politicians like Makebi, Lubinda, and Nakacinda who have political goals to achieve, as this would help the family bury their beloved one with dignity.

9. We should also appeal to the agrieved that there’s hope beyond the grave for those who believe in Jesus, as life must continue.

We must acknowledge that the government and President have fulfilled their responsibilities during the funeral. Now, it’s time for the country to move on, but we must continue to appeal to the family to allow the passing phase to occur.

As we move forward, citizens will resume their daily activities. This may lead to a situation where the body arrives, and nothing seems to have happened, which is not good for a former head of state.

The agrieved opposition members may break laws, as observed online, which could result in massive arrests. We can avoid this by uniting as the President Hakainde Hichilema has guided, and appealing to the family to allow the state to handle the funeral in consultation.

Laws are still active, and the continued situation has caused some citizens to break laws, resulting in their individual accountability without assistance.

RESPONSE TO LAURA MITI

RESPONSE TO LAURA MITI

By Michael Zephaniah Phiri – Political Activist

Laura Miti umolomo,

Let me speak to you with the sharp clarity your dishonesty deserves.

When UPND-aligned operatives like Obviously Mwaliteta declared war against the Patriotic Front (PF) and insulted President Edgar Chagwa Lungu even in his final days, you said nothing. You were quiet—muted—because your politics is anchored on selective morality and personal bitterness.

Now, suddenly, with your usual toxic tongue, you are crawling out from your corner of irrelevance to attack a grieving family, asking “foolish questions” with the arrogance of someone pretending to care for logic and decency. Stop hiding behind rhetorical gymnastics and admit it: you have always had venom for Edgar Lungu, even in death. You just never thought the family would find the courage to expose the hypocrisy of this government and their coordinated disrespect.

Let’s straighten this record.

1. *About transportation of his remains:*

A man who served as Commander-in-Chief, who endured humiliation and targeted persecution, had every right to define how his dignity would be preserved even in death. That is not hatred—it is called boundaries. It’s called honour. Something you seem to lack when you mock a dead man’s final wishes.

2. *On his wishes about HH:*

It is neither strange nor unprecedented for someone to reject those who caused them pain from presiding over their final rites. Many Zambians understand that—it’s just you, and your biased crew, who pretend this isn’t a reflection of years of tension. ECL didn’t plan a circus. This circus was born from government interference and petty politics. Your side caused it. The family simply stood firm.

3. *On KK’s precedent:*

The Lungu family is not in contradiction. The same courts you reference ruled in favor of the State then. Today, the State is the one breaking trust and shifting agreements. Be honest enough to say that.

4. *On the family’s presence in SA:*

How dare you question the mourning rituals of a family you do not belong to? The Lungu family has acted with unity and dignity in the face of aggression. Who are you to interpret culture selectively when all you’ve ever done is weaponize grief?

5. *On Madam Esther Lungu:*

Don’t you dare speak as though you care for former First Lady Esther Lungu. Your political camp has mocked her, harassed her, dragged her to courtrooms, and stripped her of every ounce of peace. Now, you pretend to cry for her? Hypocrisy looks even worse when dressed in fake empathy.

Laura, you’re not asking questions. You’re stirring division. You want HH to reconsider your future? Try merit, not malice. Your bitterness toward ECL is noted—and it has followed you for years.

*This response should have come from the Lungu family, yes—but I will not allow your distortions to go unchallenged.*

Have some dignity. If you won’t mourn with respect, then at least be quiet.

LUMEZI BY-ELECTIONS MUST BE  RESCHEDULED…(Even just for a week to allow fairplay)

In the interest of fair play I feel it would be important that ECZ reschedule the Lumezi by-election even for week to allow the competitors to campaign since they had a funeral that disturbed their campaigns.

Maintaining the same date of voting will disadvantage the main competitors (Tonse Alliance )and defeat the spirit of fair play.

Yesterday ECZ announced that the BY-ELECTIONS will proceed as scheduled despite the main competitors having a funeral which disturbed their campaigns.

STAKEHOLDERS DISAPPOINTED WITH FORMER PRESIDENT LUNGU’S FAMILY

VARIOUS stakeholders have expressed disappointment with the decision by the family of sixth president Edgar Lungu not to repatriate his remains to Zambia.

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia Executive Director Andrew Mwenda says many Zambians were eager to pay their last respects to a man that held the highest office in the land.

Bishop Mwenda has appealed to the Government and the Lungu family to resolve the impasse and bring the remains of the former head of state so that he can be mourned by all citizens.

He also urged political parties and the church to remain patient and desist from making statements that are not aimed at promoting reconciliation.

And Council of Churches of Zambia General Secretary Emmanuel Chikoya said the move by the Lungu family sets the country into a state of anxiety.

Bishop Chikoya said in the African culture, issues are resolved after burial and further called on Government and the Lungu family to accommodate one another.

Meanwhile, Beacon of Truth Church Senior Pastor Jimmy Ng’ambi said the church should continue to pray for the peace and unity amid the difficult period.

Pastor Ng’ambi said Zambians are expectant that their former president’s remains will be returned to Zambia so that he can rest in the country where he served as president.

And Golden Party Zambia President Jackson Silavwe described the stand-off between Government and the Lungu family as disturbing to the nation.

GOVERNMENT REGRETS SUDDEN CHANGE IN REPATRIATION OF FORMER PRESIDENT LUNGU’S REMAINS

GOVERNMENT REGRETS SUDDEN CHANGE IN REPATRIATION OF FORMER PRESIDENT LUNGU’S REMAINS

LUSAKA, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 — Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has described as regrettable the last-minute decision to postpone the repatriation of the remains of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu from South Africa to Zambia

Mr. Mweetwa said the South African Defence Force had already prepared a ceremonial send-off and the aircraft was on standby when the announcement was made by family representative Makebi Zulu that the late President’s remains would not be returning home today. The news, he said, came as a shock to the nation.

While choosing not to comment on the reasonableness of the decision at this stage, Mr. Mweetwa urged the nation to remain united and anchored in faith.

“We are a Christian nation,” he said. “The Bible tells us that the Lord will not give us a burden we cannot carry, and in every situation, He will provide a solution or a way out.”

Mr. Mweetwa added that President Hakainde Hichilema is bearing the heavy weight of national mourning on behalf of the country, and appealed to the Church and the public to pray for the President’s wisdom and strength during what he described as “one of the most challenging moments in our nation’s history.”

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Mr. Mweetwa called on citizens to remain calm and trust that both President Hichilema is handling the situation and God is in control.

“What transpired today is a temporary setback,” he said.

Mr. Mweetwa made the remarks during the burial of Princess Mweemba Hamaleka Hamusonde, who served as First Secretary in charge of Education at the Zambian Embassy in Australia.

NOT LAW BUT COURTESY …Why Zambia Needs a State Funeral Law

NOT LAW BUT COURTESY

…..Why Zambia Needs a State Funeral Law….

JUNE 19, 2025

Two weeks after the death of Zambia’s sixth President Edgar Chagwa Lungu the nation remains in mourning but the occasion is being marred by legal uncertainty and tensions between the State and the late President’s family.

Prominent constitutional lawyer State Counsel John Sangwa has spoken out warning that Zambia’s lack of legislation on state funerals is at the heart of the current standoff.

“There is no law in Zambia for state funerals. What we are seeing is not law it is courtesy. And a courtesy can be rejected” Sangwa said during an interview on Emmanuel Mwamba Verified.

He urged the government to follow examples from countries like Tanzania which has a clear legal framework for presidential funerals.

Sangwa emphasized that the family of the late President particularly former First Lady Esther Lungu and their children remain the primary custodians of President Lungu’s final wishes

“In the absence of the law common sense and decency must prevail. The family’s wishes must come first. You cannot force your way into someone’s funeral. That is not law. That is intrusion”

The lawyer also called on President Hakainde Hichilema and the government to exercise humility and restraint given the strained relationship between the current administration and the Lungu family

“When you mistreat someone in life you cannot expect full trust in death. Let us respect the family and after this difficult moment let us finally pass a proper State Funeral Law”

With Zambia having lost six Presidents since independence Sangwa’s call is a reminder that without clear laws the nation risks continued division and unnecessary conflict at moments when unity is most needed.

We notice that you have now found elderly  Lungu family members. Congratulations!- Laura Miti

Activist Laura Miti has pertinent questions for Edgar Lungu’s family.  She writes…

Since the Lungu family has opened the door to an interrogation of all things relating to President Lungu’s death – here are a few more questions:.

Dear Lungu Family,

Do understand how the things you have claimed, since President Lungu died, make little logical  sense and are rather disrespectful to his own posthumous reputation?

Your main claim is  – he spoke about how his remains should go back to Zambia.

1. Do you know how strange it is that anyone would bother too much about how their body will be transported after they die?? To leave strict instructions about which plane his dead body will use to go back home after dying abroad. To say spend loads of money to pay for my body to not be put on a Zambian government plane. That’s a really bizarre claim, you will have to agree.

The other claim is be didn’t want the current President near his body.

2. You do understand, don’t you, that you are suggesting that, when a whole former President was dying, his thoughts were on his rival? Not on his wife, his children, grand children or the nation he led. Not even on the God he was about to meet. He was focused on the man he had a deep political rivalry with.

You are saying that President Lungu’s thoughts,  in preparation for his own death, were full of hate and vengeance for a man who he himself had hurt deeply and who had also hurt him? His last thoughts were about how to get in one last stab??

3. The suggestion to Zambia is that President Lungu went to meet his ancestors, and his God, having elaborately planned a chaotic funeral for himself. One that he himself would not have allowed, if he was President. Remember his government went  to court to overturn the wishes of the KK family for the first President’s burial. You are saying he used his last days and weeks to say – ignore the court ruling I asked for myself?

4. We notice that you have now found elderly family members. Congratulations!

But are you saying that they too agreed to follow the body to SA, to help keep it hostage. They did not want to sit at the funeral house in Zambia? Do you know what a strangely willing-to-go-against-culture that makes the whole extended Lungu family?

5. You do realise that you  brought out the widow to sit there while it was being announced that her husband’s body will still not be buried, after days. Not buried only because the her dead husband hated the man who replaced him in office?

When  will poor Esther get “to sit on a mattress” to let out her grief and receive condolences😪?

Let me ask this again, dear family. Are you really claiming that this drama is all because EL hated HH so much that he was willing to turn his own funeral into a circus for the ages, and left instructions to ensure that happened??

Hmmm🤔. Rethink your story mwe.

Anyway, kaya.

VJ URGES ZAMBIANS TO CELEBRATE CHILUBA’S LIFE

VJ URGES ZAMBIANS TO CELEBRATE CHILUBA’S LIFE

Veteran politician, Vernon Mwaanga, has called on Zambia to celebrate the life of late second Republican President, Frederick Chiluba, for restoring democracy.

Mr Mwaanga praised the late Dr Chiluba for introducing the Human Rights Commission and other democratic institutions in Zambia.

He said this during the 14th memorial service for the former second republican President at Embassy Park in Lusaka today.

Mr Mwaanga said Zambians should continue to celebrate the late Dr Chiluba’s life as he ruled the nation for ten years in a democratic manner where people freely expressed their views on governance issues.

He added that the late Dr Chiluba contributed immensely to the growth of democracy for which he is known to be the father of democracy in Zambia.

He said Dr Chiluba’s administration helped end shortages of commodities and helped to grow the economy through the introduction of free trade.

Mr Mwaanga said the healthcare system saw a robust recovery which contributed to improving the lives of Zambians during the late Dr Chiluba’s rule.

And former Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Friday Malwa, praised the late Dr Chiluba for the housing empowerment initiative

Mr Malwa noted that many Zambians never knew the importance of owning houses until the late Dr Chiluba introduced the initiative.

He said Zambians will remember late former President Chiluba for helping them own the houses which was not the case before he was voted into office.

Meanwhile, Josephat Changwe, one of late Dr Chiluba’s security personnel, remembered him as a unifier who cared for the wellbeing of all Zambians.

The memorial service, which was attended by a number of former ministers in the Chiluba led government, the clergy, his family members, and some MMD members, was a solemn occasion as wreaths were being laid on his grave.

The late Dr Chiluba was born on 30th April 1943 and died on 18th June 2011.

ZAMBIA ARMY DISMISSES ALLEGATIONS LINKING COMMANDOS TO CIVILIAN DEATH IN KABWE

ZAMBIA ARMY DISMISSES ALLEGATIONS LINKING COMMANDOS TO CIVILIAN DEATH IN KABWE

The Zambia Army has strongly refuted media allegations suggesting that eight of its Commandos were involved in the death of a civilian in Kabwe, labelling the claims as false and unfounded.

In a press statement issued by Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sydney Mwewa, the military clarified that following a thorough internal investigation supported by findings from the Zambia Police Service no evidence was found implicating any member of the Special Forces in the alleged incident.

“The Zambia Army wishes to categorically dismiss allegations… which claim that eight (08) Commandos have been implicated in the tragic death of a civilian in Kabwe,” Lt. Col. Mwewa stated.

He further emphasized that no Commandos are currently deployed in Kabwe, nor is there any Special Forces operation ongoing in the district that would warrant such a presence.

The Army also used the opportunity to caution the public against wearing clothing that mimics official military attire, warning that such acts pose a serious security risk and could enable criminal elements to impersonate service members.

“This practice enables individuals with criminal intent to misrepresent themselves and undermine public confidence in the Zambia Army,” Lt. Col. Mwewa noted.

In the wake of the false reports, the Army has called on media practitioners to uphold journalistic standards by verifying information before publication. The statement warned that unsubstantiated reporting not only misinforms the public but also threatens national cohesion and trust in state institutions.

Reaffirming its commitment to the nation, the Zambia Army stated it remains dedicated to its constitutional mandate of protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, promising to continue serving with “professionalism, honour, and dedication to national service.”

UK Denies Malema Visa Over Hamas Support, Racial Remarks

LONDON – The United Kingdom has on Wednesday formally denied Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema a visa, citing his expressions of support for Hamas and previous remarks seen as inciting racial violence.

In a letter dated June 17, 2025, the UK Home Office stated that future visa applications are also unlikely to succeed unless Malema alters his stance. The UK Home Office said his presence in the country is “not conducive to the public good,” citing both character and association concerns.

The formal rejection marks the second time in two months that Malema has been blocked from entering the UK. This visa refusal follows a separate incident last month, when Malema was barred from travelling to the UK for the “Africa Together Conference” at Cambridge University.

Among the issues flagged was Malema’s public support for Hamas, which is an organisation banned in the UK under terrorism laws. “I note that you have made statements in support of Hamas, an organisation who are proscribed in the United Kingdom. In an address outside the Israeli Embassy on the 23rd of October 2023, days after the October 7th attack on Israel, you stated that when your political party took over following the 2024 South African elections that you were ‘going to arm Hamas and make sure Hamas got the necessary equipment to fight for their freedom’,” reads the letter.

The Home Office letter detailed multiple instances of Malema’s support for armed resistance. “In April 2024, the EFF, the political party which you lead, posted on X that the ‘Palestinian people have the fullest right to take up arms against apartheid Israel, and that the EFF supports the armed struggle of Hamas and Hezbollah’.”

The Home Office also cited an interview Malema did in October 2024, where he argued that the Hamas attack on Israel was a “legitimate act of resistance”, stating that “Hamas legitimately resisted Israel’s occupation of Palestine on that day. It was not an act of war. It is a battle for the freedom of the Palestinians.”

Beyond his stance on Hamas, UK authorities highlighted Malema’s controversial racial statements. “In 2016, you said that your political party was ‘not calling for the slaughter of white people, at least for now’.” The letter also referenced a 2022 Equality Court hearing where Malema reportedly could not guarantee he would not repeat such calls in future.

“Taking the above into account, your presence in the UK has been assessed as non-conducive to the public good on the grounds of your conduct, character and associations, which makes it undesirable to grant you entry to the UK.”

“Any future UK visa applications you make will be considered on their individual merits, however, you are likely to be refused unless the circumstances of your application change,” said the UK Visas and Immigration Decision Making Centre in a letter dated 17 June 2025 and seen by News24.

This formal denial differs significantly from the May incident. At the time, the British High Commission in South Africa issued an apology for delays in processing the application, citing UK public holidays and internal processing times. British High Commissioner Antony Phillipson personally apologised in a formal letter to Malema and his delegation, acknowledging that the group had applied early and paid for priority service.

At the time, Malema denounced the delay as politically motivated and accused UK authorities of attempting to “silence a dissenting political perspective.” “This is unacceptable and spineless.”

Civil rights organization AfriForum welcomed the UK’s decision. “Great news! This is only the beginning. AfriForum is intensifying its international campaign, calling on the global community to take punitive action against Julius Malema for inciting violence against Afrikaners and farmers with the “Kill the Boer” chant,” AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel wrote in a post on X.

Under the UK’s Immigration Rules, particularly Part 9 of the Immigration Rules stipulating various grounds for refusal, an entry clearance officer may refuse a visa for various reasons, amongst others if the applicant’s presence is “not conducive to the public good.”

The UK’s stance follows similar action against other South African politicians. In October, the U.K. denied ex-South African lawmaker Mandla Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, a visa to travel and speak at pro-Palestinian events in several British cities. Mandla Mandela said he was informed by the Home Office that his visa had been rejected because of his support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which the U.K. considers a terrorist organization.

MK Party distances itself from Floyd Shivambu’s media briefing

MK Party distances itself from Floyd Shivambu’s media briefing

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has distanced itself from a media briefing organized by its former secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu, tomorrow, Thursday, June 19, at the Mhulu Luxury Boutique Hotel in Midrand, Gauteng.

The party, through its spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela, explicitly stated that the event was not sanctioned by the MK Party, emphasizing that it is not associated with their official activities.

Shivambu, who was removed from his position as secretary-general on June 2, due to an unsanctioned visit to fugitive pastor Shepherd Bushiri in Malawi, has been at the center of speculation regarding his political future.

Reports indicate that the briefing, which Shivambu announced in his personal capacity, may signal his resignation from the MK Party and potentially the launch of a new political party, rumored to be called “Mayibuye iAfrica.”

Text messages between Tyler Perry and actor accusing him of s£xual assault released

S3xually explicit messages allegedly exchanged between filmmaker Tyler Perry and actor Derek Dixon have surfaced following Dixon’s $260 million sexual assault lawsuit against Perry.

Derek Dixon, known for his role in BET’s “The Oval,” filed the lawsuit on June 13, claiming that the media mogul made unwanted s3xual advances toward him.

In his lawsuit, Dixon alleges that Tyler Perry threatened his regular role on the show and used his “professional power for sexual leverage” over several years. The lawsuit states, “Using his influence, Mr. Perry provided vulnerable men with acting positions, roles, show contracts, cars, and money. Once the object of his desire was hooked, Tyler Perry would then put them in fear of losing it all unless they engaged in Mr. Perry’s perverted desire for sexual gratification.”

Dixon claims that Perry recruited him in 2019 to act on “Ruthless” while Dixon was working at an events company in Atlanta, home of Tyler Perry Studios. According to the complaint, Tyler Perry frequently referenced sex in text messages. Some of the messages reportedly included, “What’s it going to take for you to have guiltless sex?” and “I love how I feel right now, but I don’t like being horny.”

The situation escalated in January 2020 when Dixon was invited to Perry’s home. At the end of the night, Dixon agreed to stay in a guest room after being told he was too intoxicated to drive. “Before he knew what was happening, Dixon felt someone else slip into bed behind him and start rubbing his body around his inner thigh in a highly sexual and suggestive manner,” writes Jonathan Delshad, Dixon’s lawyer, in the complaint. “Dixon turned around and saw that Tyler Perry was in bed with him.”

Following the alleged incident, Dixon mostly ignored Perry until the mogul offered him a role on “The Oval.” He claims he tolerated ongoing harassment, including questions about his sexual preferences, out of fear that his character—a gay, homeless store clerk who was shot at the end of the season—would be cut from the show.

On the second-to-last day of filming, Perry allegedly invited Dixon to his trailer for drinks. Once there, Dixon claims that Perry pinned him against a wall and groped him. He states he was unaware of a human resources department to report the incident.

In June 2021, the lawsuit states that Perry “began to vigorously grab, grope, and play with Dixon’s buttocks in a sexual manner” after they discussed a show that Dixon had pitched. Afterwards, Perry’s representatives allegedly contacted Dixon, offering him a $6,000 per episode raise to return for another season of “The Oval.” He was also informed that Perry wanted to buy the rights to produce the pilot of his show, which ultimately was not sold to a network due to pre-existing contracts between Tyler Perry Studios and Paramount Global.

Dixon later reported the alleged sexual harassment to regulatory agencies. He declined to return for “The Oval,” leading Perry to warn him that he would be in breach of contract if he informed other staff members about why he quit.

Screenshots of explicit text messages allegedly exchanged between Dixon and Tyler Perry have been released by foreign media following the lawsuit.

U.S. MOVES SHIPS AND AIRCRAFT OUT OF IRAN STRIKE RANGE

BREAKING: U.S. MOVES SHIPS AND AIRCRAFT OUT OF IRAN STRIKE RANGE

The U.S. military has relocated aircraft and naval assets from Middle East bases seen as vulnerable to Iranian attack.

Ships were moved from Bahrain’s 5th Fleet port, and aircraft were repositioned from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Officials called it standard force protection.

An Indo-Pacific carrier is also heading to the region as Trump weighs U.S. entry into Israel’s campaign against Iran.

Iran has warned of retaliation if the U.S. joins the fight.

Steve Bannon predicts how MAGA will react if Trump bombs Iran

MAGA acolyte Steve Bannon — who has adamantly protested against U.S. involvement in the current Iranian conflict — predicted Wednesday that Trump devotees will eventually “get on board” if the president decides to join Israel in bombing Iran, according to nonprofit news outlet Notus.org.

Bannon told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor event that “there’ll be some” MAGA adherents who will disagree if Trump ushers the U.S. into Israel’s conflict with Iran.

In fact, Trump loyalists like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson have joined Bannon in speaking out against U.S. involvement.

“But the vast majority of the MAGA movement will go, ‘Look. We trust your judgment. You’ve walked us through this. We don’t like it. In fact, maybe we hate it. But, you know, we’ll get on board,’” Bannon said.

Despite his MAGA prediction, Bannon said he “remains convinced” that the U.S. should walk away from the conflict.

“We’re in the early stages of the kinetic part of the Third World War right now,” Bannon said. “I think this is one of the most, if not the most important time in history, in America, in modern American history. This is much more dangerous than the late 1930s. Much more dangerous.”

Although Trump has been playing coy as to whether he will or won’t throw U.S. military weight behind Israel, an Israeli pundit told CNN Wednesday that leaders “are certain that Trump is going to join this war.”

Trump tells aides he’s OK’d Iran attack plans — but is delaying final order

0

President Donald Trump has approved a war plan for Iran but is delaying any final order, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday afternoon, following a Situation Room meeting.

Trump told his top aides late Tuesday that “he approved of attack plans for Iran, but was holding off on giving the final order to see if Tehran will abandon its nuclear program,” confirmed three people familiar with the discussions.

While Israel and Iran have traded bombs, Israel has not issued a strike against the facility that is “buried under a mountain” and regarded by military experts as “out of reach of all but the most powerful bombs.”

Trump spent his 2024 campaign promising that under his administration, there would be “no wars.”

Iran has made it clear they’re ready to negotiate a ceasefire with the U.S. despite previously saying they didn’t want to involve the U.S., The New York Times reported.

John Fetterman’s fallout: Frustration mounts among democrats, Pennsylvania voters

0

John Fetterman, once a symbol of progressive strength and resilience within the Democratic Party, is now facing a backlash from his own political base and beyond.

Former staffers continue to voice their frustration, accusing Fetterman of feeding political ammunition to Republicans through his controversial public remarks and shifting political tone.

These ex-staffers feel betrayed, suggesting that Fetterman’s transformation has undermined the very causes they once worked to promote under his leadership.

On Capitol Hill, Democratic aides are reportedly exasperated as their bosses are frequently forced to respond to or clarify Fetterman’s comments, detracting from their own legislative agendas and messaging.

The frustration is not limited to the political class—some voters in Pennsylvania who once passionately supported Fetterman now express disillusionment, saying they feel abandoned or misled.

Their growing fatigue is compounded by Fetterman’s increasing absence from public forums and events, raising questions about his engagement with constituents.

Meanwhile, a former 2022 Democratic primary rival has seized the moment, traveling across Pennsylvania, hosting town halls, and openly criticizing Fetterman’s current stance and perceived political retreat.

This rival’s proactive outreach stands in sharp contrast to Fetterman’s relative silence, deepening the narrative that the once-outspoken senator is now retreating from accountability.

As criticism grows louder from within his own party and state, Fetterman faces a defining crossroads—whether to re-engage meaningfully with his base or risk further political isolation.

‘We now have complete and total control of Iran’s Skies – Trump

US President Donald Trump appeared to indicate that the United States has been involved in the Israeli attack on Iran in a social media post.

“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured “stuff.” Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

In a second post, Trump said, “We know exactly where the so-called “Supreme Leader” is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The president’s post comes as he faces questions about US involvment in the war and amid discussions on an attack on the Fordow nuclear facility.

The attack would require the involvement of the U.S. because B-2 bombers dropping bunker-busting bombs are the only way to destroy the capabilities of a plant hidden deep in an Iranian mountain.

Earlier on Tuesday, the president said he was seeking “a real end” to the conflict, stressing that he’s “not looking for a ceasefire.”

The president also described what he was seeking as a “complete give-up” by Iran.

“I think they know not to touch our troops,” he said of Iran, warning the U.S. would be “gloves off” in its response.

Trump departed the G7 in Canada late Monday, one day earlier than expected because he wanted to be back in Washington as Israel and Iran traded missile strikes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger says immigrants should behave like guests in America

Arnold Schwarzenegger has weighed in on the ongoing national debate over immigration, emphasising the importance of legal entry and respectful behaviour from newcomers to the United States.

The 77-year-old former California governor and Hollywood star appeared Tuesday, June 17, on The View, where he reflected on his own immigration journey. Schwarzenegger, who arrived in the U.S. from Austria at age 21 with no connections or support, said his story exemplifies the possibilities available in America for those who follow the rules.

“I came here legally. I had no money, no friends, no safety net but I had a dream,” Schwarzenegger said. “This country gave me everything, and I worked hard for it. That’s the beauty of America.”

He stressed that immigrants can achieve the American Dream if they respect the nation’s laws. “If you come here legally and act like a guest in someone’s home, you can succeed,” he added.

The former bodybuilder and two-term governor didn’t shy away from addressing illegal immigration, stating bluntly, “Foreigners doing illegal things, they are not smart. It’s not about being against immigrants, it’s about respecting the rules.”

Schwarzenegger’s comments come amid a tense national climate, with immigration raids, public protests, and heated policy debates dominating headlines. His call for order and personal accountability lands squarely in the middle of the political firestorm, offering a perspective shaped by personal experience and a long career in both public service and entertainment.

There’s witchcraft in music industry, they took me to a river – Kopala Pastor

There’s witchcraft in music industry, they took me to a river – Kopala Pastor

GOSPEL artiste Pastor Malachi Ng’andu popularly known as the Kopala Pastor has shared that the music industry is very dark and most celebrated artistes are practicing witchcraft.

The Kopala Pastor recounted how he was almost initiated into practicing witchcraft in the early years of his music career.

He shared that a certain celebrated artiste years ago, talked him into initiation unknowingly.

The Gospel artiste who has been in the industry for two decades now, revealed that most celebrated artistes use charms when performing or recording songs to lure people into celebrating them.

“There’s witchcraft in the industry. I was performing at a particular event but before I went on stage people booed me like go away. I wasn’t popular by then and because I was so eager, I did some freestyle and people gathered and realised I was talented. So when I was leaving the stage, one of the big artistes came and pulled me aside after performing and told me that I was talented but there were some things I had not yet done,” he narrated.

“They said call me and it started out like that. And mostly when you are being initiated, they will come like they care. Few meetings later, I thought it was money, so I started contacting him that maybe he would connect me. We had to go to some river to do some initiations.”

He narrated that the witchcraft that is in the music industry actually works and most artistes were practicing it.

The pastor further warned upcoming artistes against doing collaborations anyhow, especially with big artistes to avoid being used for rituals.

“It’s not really like satanism, it’s just like witchcraft, like giving you things when you are performing. Like they give you a rope to tie in your waste when performing or recording. When you get initiated, people just start respecting you and you suddenly get the attention, people will want to help you. Even when you do a simple song, people will still cheer,” he explained on Getting Candid with Helen.

“And some artistes are targeted and a star can be exchanged where by they target you, they get your star and steal it from you. Some upcoming artistes have been through that through featuring big artistes. By featuring big artistes, they steal your star. This is one particular spell used in the music industry.”

He said despite having gone through that phase himself, he was saved by God before it was too late…https://kalemba.news/…/theres-witchcraft-in-music…/

We will not surrender- Iran’s Supreme leader Khamenei

0

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed that Iran will not surrender, delivering a strong national address just a day after U.S. President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” in a Truth Social post.

“Let the Americans know that the Iranian nation is not one to surrender, and any military intervention on their part will undoubtedly result in irreparable damage,” Khamenei said on Wednesday, June 18.

It marked only his second public appearance since Israel launched a large-scale attack against Iran last week.

Khamenei added, “Those who are wise and familiar with Iran, its people, and its history never speak to this nation in the language of threats.”

His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. On Tuesday, President Trump referred to Khamenei as “an easy target” for the U.S. and Israel, intensifying his rhetoric with a blunt call for Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”

Khamenei’s defiant speech underscores the growing standoff between Tehran and Washington as military posturing increases in the region.

U.S. added over 1,000 new Millionaires daily in 2024

Wealth surged in the United States last year at an exceptional pace, with more than 379,000 individuals becoming new dollar millionaires—averaging over 1,000 new millionaires per day—according to UBS’s 2025 Global Wealth Report released Wednesday.

The report highlighted that global net worth rose by 4.6% in 2024, with the Americas leading the charge at over 11% growth. The spike was largely driven by a stable U.S. dollar and strong performance in financial markets.

The United States alone accounted for nearly 40% of all global millionaires, reinforcing its status as the world’s wealth capital.

While the U.S. dominated at the millionaire level, the report noted that Greater China—including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan—topped the global charts in the mid-tier wealth segment. It led in the number of individuals with a net worth between $100,000 and $1 million, accounting for 28.2% of that group, followed by Western Europe at 25.4% and North America at 20.9%.

Despite the growth, the report pointed out that over 80% of adults globally still have a net worth below $100,000. Only about 1.6% of the world’s adult population holds a net worth of $1 million or more.

Looking ahead, UBS projects that average wealth per adult will continue to grow steadily over the next five years—led primarily by gains in the United States and, to a lesser degree, Greater China.

The findings reflect a broader rebound in global wealth after a turbulent 2022, with growth now being concentrated in regions with resilient economies and strong equity markets.

U.S. officially removes Colonel Nathan McCormack from his position over controversial comment against Israel

0

Colonel Nathan McCormack has been removed from his position as the Levant and Egypt branch chief at the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s J5 planning directorate following controversial social media posts.

According to reports, McCormack used a semi anonymous X account to post statements critical of Israel.

The post includes calling Israel a de@th cult while referring to Israeli leadership as “Netanyahu and his Judeo-supremacist cronies,”.

He wasn’t done there, he went on to question whether the U.S. was acting as Israel’s proxy.

These posts, were said to have been traced to a date as far back to October 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack.

He also accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and disproportionate responses against Palestinian civilians.

The Pentagon, aware of the situation, stated that McCormack’s views do not reflect those of the Joint Staff or the Department of Defense.

He has since been returned to his service (the U.S. Army for further investigation, and his X account has since been deleted.

A Defense Department contractor described the posts as dangerous and unprofessional for someone in his role, which involved advising on Israel-related matters and engaging with regional allies.
