We are confused with Hichilema’s inconsistency – Fr Mukosa

By Staff Reporter

Catholic Priest Father Andrew Mukosa has observed that the Constitution of Zambia Amendment Bill number 7 of 2025 has a lot of selfish intentions.

And Fr. Mukosa, who is also director for Dignitatis Human Social Teacher Organisation, says he is confused with President Hakainde Hichilema’s inconsistency after he promised Zambians to run a lean government with shared resources, but now wants to increase the number of members of parliament.

Meanwhile, opposition NDC leader Saboi Imboela says she would support Constitutional amendments after elections because there would be more time for everyone to get involved.

Last week, the government published the Constitution Amendment Bill Number 7 of 2025 and called on civil society organisations and constitutional lawyers to take keen interest and interrogate the document.

And in an interview yesterday, Fr Mukosa said the whole draft

UPND: A Government of Press Briefings, by Press Briefings, for Press Briefings- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

UPND: A Government of Press Briefings, by Press Briefings, for Press Briefings

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Since taking office, the UPND government has shown unmatched devotion to one thing: talking. If governance were judged by the number of press briefings held, Zambia would be a global leader. From fuel hikes to economic “updates,” from borrowed policies to borrowed microphones, there is a press briefing for every occasion, and sometimes for no occasion at all.

You have to admire their consistency. No matter the crisis, the UPND is always ready, not with solutions but with statements. Policy direction? Just wait for a briefing. Crisis response? There is a press update on the way. Pledge implementation? That is still pending, but there will be a media briefing tomorrow, so stay tuned.

If holding daily press briefings had any economic impact, Zambia would be one of the most prosperous nations on Earth by now.

The sad truth is that this obsession with public relations has become a substitute for actual leadership. The energy spent preparing podiums and printing statements would be better used building industries, creating jobs, or solving the very problems they so eloquently talk about. Promises like youth empowerment, economic transformation, and institutional accountability, once shouted from campaign platforms, now barely whisper beyond the walls of the press room.

How I wish they could commit to action with half the dedication they show to staging briefings. While citizens are drowning in the rising cost of living, the UPND is busy managing optics. Zambians need tangible progress, not perfectly worded press statements. They demand delivery, not daily dialogues.

Leadership is not about sounding good; it is about doing good. Until the UPND realizes that a country cannot be governed through microphones alone, they risk being remembered not for transformation but for verbosity. Not as a government of the people, but as a government of press briefings, by press briefings, for press briefings.

OUR ECONOMIC VISION IS ANCHORED ON ATTRACTING INVESTMENT THAT DELIVERS MEASURABLE IMPACT – HH

OUR ECONOMIC VISION IS ANCHORED ON ATTRACTING INVESTMENT THAT DELIVERS MEASURABLE IMPACT – HH

President Hakainde Hichilema writes…

We were honoured today in Chililabombwe to participate in the official unveiling of JCHX Mining Limited as the new strategic investor in Lubambe Copper Mine Limited.

This occasion also marked the groundbreaking of the deep ore body mining project, a critical inflection point in our quest to fully unlock Zambia’s mineral wealth and realise our national ambition of producing 3 million tonnes of copper annually, by 2031.

Our economic vision is anchored on attracting investment that delivers measurable impact. We cannot build a resilient nation if we consume more than we produce. That path leads to unsustainable debt and missed opportunities. Only through productive sectors like mining, farming and others, can we create enduring jobs, grow local enterprise, and expand revenue for national development.

We commend the leadership of Lubambe and ZCCM-IH for their perseverance in sustaining operations through turbulent times. We also applaud the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development for his steadfast commitment in securing this vital transaction.

This spirit of partnership, rooted in mutual trust and shared values, is essential for driving sustainable economic growth.

Hakainde Hichilema,
President of the Republic of Zambia

VOTE AGAINST CONSTITUTIONAL BILL, CATHOLICS URGE MPS

Caritas Zambia director Father Gabriel Mapulanga has urged members of parliament who have raised concern with some of the provisions in the proposed Constitution Amendment Bill to vote against it when it goes to Parliament.

And the Zambian Civil Liberties Union (ZCLU) says the regressive provisions in Bill 7 of 2025, appear designed to entrench incumbency, weaken opposition parties, and enable members of parliament to retain power while accessing public resources like Constituency Development Funds (CDF) during campaign periods.

ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA (EAZ) POSITION ON THE BANK OF ZAMBIA MPC DECISION

ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION OF ZAMBIA (EAZ) POSITION ON THE BANK OF ZAMBIA MPC DECISION

Following the Bank of Zambia’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held from 21st to 22nd May 2025, the Economic Association of Zambia (EAZ) hereby provides a structured policy position and analysis of the monetary policy stance adopted, in line with our mandate to support evidence-based economic discourse and promote macroeconomic stability.

1. Monetary Policy Rate Decision – Status Quo Maintained

The decision by the Bank of Zambia to maintain the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 14.5 percent reflects a cautious but confident approach to monetary policy management. This stance signals the Central Bank’s intent to sustain a tight but non-restrictive policy posture, balancing the recent improvement in inflation dynamics with prevailing macroeconomic risks. The slight reduction in annual inflation from 16.8 percent in February to 16.5 percent in April 2025, while modest, indicates early signs of disinflationary momentum. The decision not to adjust the policy rate further underscores the Bank’s confidence that existing monetary conditions remain adequate to support the current inflation trajectory.

By holding the policy rate steady, the Bank has provided a level of predictability for economic agents, thereby supporting business planning and reducing uncertainty in the credit market. This also allows the economy to absorb and adjust to the cumulative effects of previous tightening cycles without imposing additional constraints on private sector activity and investment.

2. Recognition of Positive Inflation Trends and Macroeconomic Developments

The EAZ acknowledges the Bank’s assessment of recent macroeconomic improvements, including:
• A deceleration in headline inflation,
• Food price moderation and a decline in non-food inflation components,
• Enhanced inflation expectations,
• An anticipated bumper maize harvest of 3.6 million metric tonnes, and
• A decline in international crude oil prices.

These developments collectively support the current monetary policy stance and point toward improving macroeconomic fundamentals. In particular, the expected agricultural output is likely to ease food inflation a major contributor to Zambia’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) while lower fuel prices are expected to ease production and transportation costs, thereby softening cost-push inflationary pressures. These factors strengthen the prospects for inflation to return within the Central Bank’s medium-term target range of 6–8 percent by 2027, as projected. The EAZ supports this outlook and encourages the continued monitoring of domestic supply conditions and global commodity price movements to inform timely policy responses.

3. Caution on Remaining Risks and Inflation

Pressures Despite the positive outlook, the EAZ emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant given the persistence of several downside risks. These include:

• External supply chain disruptions due to geopolitical tensions and climate-induced shocks,
• Global economic uncertainty, particularly as advanced economies pursue divergent interest rate paths,
• Exchange rate volatility driven by Zambia’s external debt obligations and limited foreign exchange buffers.
These risks could disrupt the projected disinflation path, especially through imported inflation and input cost pressures. The depreciation of the Kwacha in preceding quarters remains a key driver of inflation in tradables, and as such, continued exchange rate management will be essential to preserving monetary policy effectiveness. In this regard, EAZ supports the Central Bank’s cautious approach and underscores the need for proactive risk assessment, particularly in relation to external balances, capital flows, and terms of trade developments.

4. Emphasis on Policy Coordination and Structural Reforms to ensure the sustainability of the positive inflation outlook and broader macroeconomic recovery, EAZ reiterates the critical importance of:
• Strong fiscal-monetary policy coordination,
• Stabilizing the exchange rate supported by improved balance of payment performance
and sustaining it in the medium to long term,
• Increased mining production to 1 million metric tonnes by December 2025 and improved revenue performance to at least 21% of gross domestic product,
• Sustained support for improved agricultural productivity and value addition,
• Resolving energy deficits in the short-run and improve energy management,
• Structural, regulatory, and institutional reforms to enhance economic resilience, inclusive growth, and macroeconomic stability.

Monetary policy, while crucial, cannot act in isolation. Expansionary fiscal actions without coordination could undermine the effectiveness of tight monetary conditions. Therefore, alignment in fiscal discipline, public sector reform, and debt management strategies will be key to maintaining macroeconomic stability.

The Association also emphasizes that improved agricultural performance not only supports food price stability but is vital for rural livelihoods, employment generation, and broader socio-
economic development. Moreover, long-term reforms focused on export diversification, improved industrial productivity, and private sector competitiveness will be essential in reducing Zambia’s exposure to external shocks.

5. EAZ’s Role in Economic Dialogue and Policy Support

As the country continues its post-debt restructuring recovery, EAZ remains committed to:
• Supporting evidence-based micro and macro-economic policies and their implementation,
• Promoting public understanding of key micro and macro-economic trends,
• Facilitating stakeholder dialogue on policy issues,
• Providing objective, evidence-based policy insights in support of Zambia’s sustainable economic transformation.

The Association’s engagement on the monetary policy stance is part of its broader mission to contribute to informed economic governance and foster a stable, and predictable policy
environment.

6. Conclusion

The Economic Association of Zambia supports the Bank of Zambia’s decision to maintain the MPR at 14.5% and recognizes the progress made in restoring price stability. At the same time, we caution against emerging downside risks and reiterate the need for coordinated policy actions and continued structural/institutional reforms.

EAZ reaffirms its role as a neutral, professional, and constructive stakeholder in the economic policy landscape and remains committed to fostering economic dialogue that supports inclusive
and sustainable growth.

ENEGY EXPERT PREDICTS FUEL PRICES REDUCTION FOR JUNE

By: Sun FM TV Reporter

Energy expert has projected a slight decrease in fuel pump prices for June 2025, citing stable international fuel prices and a steady kwacha-dollar exchange rate.

In an interview with Sun FM TV News, Boniface Zulu noted that Zambia’s open access policy has helped ease pressure on the oil market, particularly in relation to diesel supply.

Engineer Zulu urged government to introduce policies and incentives that encourage Zambians to purchase electric vehicles, reducing dependence on petroleum products.

Additionally, he called for investment in electric public transportation, including electric trains and buses, to boost the economy, attract foreign investment, and promote tourism.

Mr Zulu further advised business owners to diversify and adopt electric mobility solutions, reducing reliance on government intervention.

Elon Musk’s departure from the Trump administration came in the wake of a violent altercation with a prominent Cabinet membe

BREAKING: Bombshell reporting reveals that MAGA billionaire Elon Musk’s departure from the Trump administration came in the wake of a violent altercation with a prominent Cabinet member.

This certainly sounds like the behavior of a drug-addled maniac…

According to The Daily Mail, Trump world figure Steven Bannon stated that Musk physically “shoved” 62-year-old Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during a showdown that was previously reported as a shouting match.

“Scott Bessent called him out and said, ‘You promised us a trillion dollars (in cuts), and now you’re at like $100 billion, and nobody can find anything, what are you doing?” Bannon stated.

“And that’s when Elon got physical. It’s a sore subject with him,” he continued. “It wasn’t an argument, it was a physical confrontation. Elon basically shoved him.”

DOGE has been an unmitigated failure by any metric. It has engendered widespread antipathy towards the White House, weakened the federal government, inflicted mass suffering on the rest of the world by gutting crucial aid programs, all while failing to produce anything beyond the most measly of “savings.” Those “savings” will in turn be washed away by Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” which skyrockets the debt and deficit.

The violence occurred as Musk and Bessent were moving between the Oval Office and the office of Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and then outside the office of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz (who has since vacated the position).

“Trump 100%’ sided with Bessent after the clash,” revealed Bannon. “I don’t think Bessent has any bad blood, but he’s got a job to do and he’s going to do it.”

“People in the administration and the White House realized [Musk] didn’t have any idea what he’s doing,” he said. “They cauterized the damage.”

According to Bannon, the failure of DOGE was compounded by the fact that Trump falsely claimed during his State of the Union that there were millions of fraudulent Social Security recipients over the age of 100. The “mistake” was blamed on false claims from Musk that stemmed from a supposed accounting error.

“Not one penny was ever shown to have been sent to these people,” said Bannon. “Is anyone trying to talk to Elon now? No.”

The confrontation between Musk and Bessent was confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, although she attempted to downplay the incident and didn’t mention the violence.

“It’s no secret President Trump has put together a team of people who are incredibly passionate about the issues impacting our country,” she told The Daily Mail.

“Disagreements are a normal part of any healthy policy process, and ultimately everyone knows they serve at the pleasure of President Trump,” Leavitt added.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA RELAUNCHES REVITALIZED LUBAMBE COPPER MINE, SECURING JOBS AND BOOSTING ZAMBIA’S COPPER AMBITIONS

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA RELAUNCHES REVITALIZED LUBAMBE COPPER MINE, SECURING JOBS AND BOOSTING ZAMBIA’S COPPER AMBITIONS

Chililabombwe, Copperbelt — 30 May 2025

President Hakainde Hichilema today officiated at the much-anticipated relaunch of Lubambe Copper Mine in Chililabombwe, marking a major milestone in Zambia’s mining revival and economic transformation agenda.

The mine, which was on the verge of collapse, has been brought back to life with a massive investment of over USD 100 million, and an additional USD 240 million is set to be injected into its operations.

This revival has not only saved hundreds of jobs in Lubambe and surrounding areas, but has also reignited hope for suppliers who are now receiving long-overdue payments, stabilizing the local economy.

“Today is a demonstration of what can happen when we work together government, investors, and communities to revive our mining sector,” said President Hichilema during the relaunch ceremony. “Lubambe’s comeback is a symbol of economic resilience and our resolve to rebuild.”

Among the key highlights of Lubambe’s resurgence is a major exploration breakthrough: the discovery of Zambia’s highest-grade copper ore.

This discovery has significantly boosted the mine’s prospects and resulted in the extension of its operational life well beyond the previously expected closure in 2031, ensuring production continues for decades to come.

Lubambe is now strategically positioned to play a pivotal role in Zambia’s ambitious target to ramp up copper production to 3 million metric tonnes annually by 2031, a goal set by President Hichilema to cement the country’s status as a global copper powerhouse.

With the mine back on track, President Hichilema reaffirmed his government’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and ensuring that Zambians benefit meaningfully from the country’s vast mineral wealth.

Lubambe Copper Mine’s revival is seen as a beacon of hope for the Copperbelt and a sign of Zambia’s renewed focus on unlocking the full potential of its mining sector.

Truck Driver on the Run After 30 Tonnes of Copper Disappear En Route to South Africa

Truck Driver on the Run After 30 Tonnes of Copper Disappear En Route to South Africa

A Zambian truck driver is on the run following the disappearance of approximately 30 tonnes of copper cathodes in a suspected theft that has rocked the mining logistics and export sector.

According to Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Auxensio Daka, the incident occurred between the evening of May 27 and the morning of May 28 along the Lusaka–Livingstone Road between Monze and Pemba. The missing copper, destined for Durban, South Africa, was part of a consignment loaded in Ndola a central hub in Zambia’s copper belt.

Michael Chanda, 39, a driver from Kafue employed by Jamaras Limited, raised the alarm after discovering that his colleague, Thomson Domingo of Lusaka, had vanished from the Monze Council Truck Park without notice. The two had parked separately at the facility around 20:00 hours on May 27 during a routine overnight stopover.

Domingo’s vehicle a white Benz truck with registration BLA 5991 ZM and trailer BCD 6527 ZM was later found abandoned off the road in Kamunga area, Pemba District, with its cargo missing and fuel tanks siphoned. Police say the stolen goods comprised 11 bundles of copper cathodes, though the full market value has not yet been disclosed.

Domingo, whose age remains unverified, is now the prime suspect in what authorities describe as a highly coordinated copper theft. Law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt and are calling for public assistance in tracing his whereabouts.

This latest incident underscores persistent vulnerabilities in Zambia’s mineral transportation network, particularly concerning copper the country’s primary export commodity. Copper thefts, which have plagued the industry for years, continue to raise concerns among exporters, insurers, and regional partners.

Industry stakeholders warn that such security breaches not only threaten Zambia’s reputation in the global market but could also deter foreign buyers and complicate supply chain agreements.

“The theft of copper in transit presents a serious risk to our export logistics chain,” said an executive at a Lusaka-based freight company who asked to remain anonymous. “Until tighter surveillance and tracking technologies are widely adopted, these incidents will persist, impacting both revenue and trust.”

As Zambia continues to push for increased copper output to benefit from rising global demand, experts say there’s an urgent need for government and private sector collaboration in enhancing road cargo security.

Suggestions include mandatory GPS tracking, coordinated check-in systems at truck stops, and stricter driver verification procedures.

The police have appealed to anyone with information regarding Domingo’s whereabouts to contact the nearest station as investigations continue.

SP YOUTH LEAGUE EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH FORMER UNZASU PRESIDENT GABRIEL BANDA

SP YOUTH LEAGUE EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH FORMER UNZASU PRESIDENT GABRIEL BANDA

Lusaka… Friday May 30, 2025 — The Socialist Party (SP) Youth League has voiced strong support for Gabriel Banda, the former UNZASU President, following his recent conviction linked to a student protest that took place at the University of Zambia (UNZA) on September 18, 2023.

In a statement released by the league, the Youth Secretary of the Socialist Party, Stanley Muba’sa, said the organization had been following Banda’s court proceedings closely and stood firmly in solidarity with him.

According to the league, Banda had made notable contributions to student welfare during his leadership, particularly citing his efforts in advocating for the reintroduction of meal allowances.

The Youth League declared that they had “no apologies to make” for supporting Banda during “difficult times,” and praised his legacy as one that extended beyond the UNZA community.

Mr. Muba’sa encouraged students and young people across the country to rally behind Banda and show him support, including visiting him while in prison.

The statement also raised concerns about the nature of Banda’s conviction, suggesting that it could lead to more questions than answers.

The league questioned whether the judgment had been politically influenced or intended to deter student activism and youth involvement in opposition politics.

However, they noted that only the general public could truly determine the motivation behind the court’s decision.

The SP Youth League labeled Banda’s conviction “unfortunate” and pledged to continue offering him “limitless solidarity.”

The statement concluded with a call for unity among the youth, urging them to support one another and resist what the league perceives as attempts to silence young voices in the political space.

Livestock farming is one of the major sources of self employment and if going by numbers, and each bull costing K30, 000 as a giveaway price as most bulls cost not less than K50, 000, President Hichilema would raise a whooping 90, 000, 000 Kwacha out of his 3, 000 bulls.

The President has, since his young age, been doing extensive Livestock farming and is now calling for diversification into crop farming in the country.

According to researchers, farming is set to be the major producers of billionaires in the next years

Farming is also set to be one of the major sources of jobs, including self-employment.

GOVERNMENT DISMISSES CLAIMS OF PRESIDENTIAL STATEMENT ON EU, UK VISA REFUNDS

Lusaka – May 30, 2025 — The Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson, Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa, MP, has categorically dismissed social media claims that President Hakainde Hichilema made statements or took a position demanding visa application fee refunds from the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK) for rejected Zambian applicants.

Speaking during a government-media engagement held earlier today, Hon. Mweetwa described the viral reports as false and misleading, urging the public to exercise caution and verify information through official and credible channels before accepting it as fact.

“At no time has the President or any government official issued a demand for visa refunds from either the European Union or the United Kingdom,” Mr. Mweetwa clarified. “These are unfounded social media allegations with no basis in truth.”

The minister stressed the importance of responsible information sharing, especially in the digital age, and warned against the dangers of misinformation that can strain international relations.

He further reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining strong and respectful diplomatic relations with all international partners.

HICHILEMA’S GOVT MUST NOT SELL STRATEGIC NATIONAL MAIZE RESERVES AGAIN- Fred M’membe

HICHILEMA’S GOVT MUST NOT SELL STRATEGIC NATIONAL MAIZE RESERVES AGAIN

We note that those in government are calling for more food production, which is a good idea, but we would like to caution Mr Hichilema and his administration not to ever sell our strategic national maize reserves again.

We say this because previously, they sold a significant portion of our national maize reserves, a miscalculation that ignited serious public concern amidst the country’s food crisis. Prior to this, we had guided them not to do it but they went ahead and created a national food crisis, which saw staple food prices escalating by a significant amount.

No doubt, this poorly advised decision, coupled with a severe drought that hit several districts in the country, led to a substantial food deficit in the country.

Typical of the UPND government, they tried to justify that they sold the maize from the national reserves to repay farmers who had supplied the grain to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) during the 2023/2024 marketing season. But still that did not absolve them from their monumental failure to secure and guarantee food security.

We hope lessons were learnt that we should never sell our national maize reserves as those are meant to cushion us during the challenging times. We also hope that this time around, they will prioritize national food security over profits.

It’s irresponsible for our people to starve amidst plenty of food. The projected yields are good so, let that translate into affordable mealie meal prices too.

Why You Should Declare your Assets….Apakomaila nondo, ninshi pali ubulema…- Amb. Emmanuel  Mwamba

Why You Should Declare your Assets.

….Apakomaila nondo, ninshi pali ubulema…

Amb. Emmanuel  Mwamba Wrote;

We have now seen centre pivots, combine harvesters and other farm equipment at your Imbaba Farm recently bought and installed.

On Sunday in Choma, you will be auctioning about 3,000 bulls.

Before we congratulate you for the hard work, entrepreneurship and the noble gesture to lead by example, we must discuss these uncomfortable truths.

For almost four years, you won’t declare or make public your assets, liabilities and business interests.

This is despite public and  stakeholders’ pressure and an attendant court process.

When citizens speculate about your source of wealth, you want to shut them up with cyber laws.

Your praise singers want to say that you have been a successful businessman and a farmer for many years and therefore, the discussion about your wealth should never rise.

This could be true, but the farm activities, new land areas acquired, the fencing of large tracts of land, the daming of streams and rivers and the purchase of expensive equipment have rapidly increased since you became President of the Republic of Zambia and the discussion about this new wealth inspires this honest debate.

Citizens know your salary. It’s K53,000.00 per month. You have also publicly stated that this salary is permanently donated every month to the underprivileged.

So citizens are wondering about these expansionery and capital activities and your soaring wealth since you became President.

You are making huge public donations such as the K1.9million you dropped like a hat, at the Dorcas Rally last month.

Money from where? Your salary is K53,000.00.

Remember, you said you had in 2019, sold all your business interests, shares and ownership in companies such as AfLife, and others.

So where is the source of your new wealth?

Then there are constant public allegations of large-scale acts of corruption, some associated with State House.

Therefore, this debate can only end when you declare your assets, liabilities and business interests so that citizens can sincerely congratulate you well on your new success, your hard work and the bold gesture of leading from the front.

I know it’s irritating being compelled to discuss personal matters such as your wealth.

But unfortunately, it’s the law. It’s a requirement in a Democracy threatened and  wrecked by acts of public corruption and utter looting of the Treasury.

Therefore, the declaration of assets by public officials becomes a vital accountability and transparency issue to help build trust in a clearly broken system.

And remember, in Zambia, we have a terrible mindset about wealth.

Wealth is not associated with hard work or innovation or entrepreneurship!
It’s associated with witchcraft, or corruption.

Just see how your Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) behave, or our people in the Komboni.

They assume all assets or businesses are tainted and their sources are proceeds of crime!

So we have to help defeat and change that mindset.

But how can we, when you have helped, to a very large extent, reinforced that notion with your public utterances.

What’s good for the goose, must be good for the gander.

…Ubufumu bukashisha amenso….and you said it; “Leadership is hard”.

So kindly declare  your assets or resign and remain in private practice where there is no single obligation to declare your assets, liabilities and business interests!

Ba Praise,  let’s discuss…

GOVERNMENT URGES CSOS TO SUBMIT ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS ON CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT BILL

GOVERNMENT URGES CSOS TO SUBMIT ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS ON CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT BILL

Lusaka – May 30, 2025 — Government has called on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to present refined alternatives to the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 7 of 2025, rather than simply demanding its withdrawal.

Speaking during a media engagement held today, Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa, MP, responded to calls from some CSOs urging the government to withdraw the bill.

He emphasized that the administration remains open to constructive input from all stakeholders.

“We urge Civil Society Organizations to go beyond criticism and instead bring forward refined proposals that offer better alternatives to what the government has presented,” Mr. Mweetwa said.

He reiterated that the government’s approach from the outset has been inclusive, allowing space for citizens and interest groups to contribute their views on the 13 proposed constitutional clauses.

“From the very beginning, we made it clear that the proposed amendments would be subjected to public consultation. This process is meant to reflect the views of a broad range of citizens including the church, traditional leaders, students, the labor movement, and political organizations many of whom support the need for constitutional refinement,” he added.

Mr. Mweetwa also pointed out the financial implications of not amending certain provisions of the Constitution, highlighting that Zambia has lost over K300 million in by-elections over the past three years, the vast majority of which were at the local government level.

“The draft bill aims to save public funds. Instead of spending millions on unnecessary by-elections, we can redirect those resources to critical areas like free education, meal allowances for public university students, and increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations,” he explained.

Addressing concerns that the bill may offer political leverage to President Hakainde Hichilema, Mr. Mweetwa dismissed such claims.

“There is nothing in Bill No. 7 that gives President Hichilema an advantage going into the 2026 general elections. The intent of this bill is not political it is practical and constitutional,” he said.

On the matter of constituency delimitation, Mr. Mweetwa clarified that the process is a constitutional obligation, which the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) must undertake every 10 years. He stressed that the government is simply fulfilling a legal requirement.

“Delimitation is not optional. It is mandated by the Constitution, and Zambia has gone a full decade without this process. We are not violating the Constitution by undertaking it; we are upholding it,” he said.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to an open, transparent constitutional reform process and has invited all voices critical and supportive to contribute constructively to the national dialogue.

CALLS TO WITHDRAW BILL 7 MISPLACED – GOVERNMENT

CALLS TO WITHDRAW BILL 7 MISPLACED – GOVERNMENT

Government says calls by some Civil Society Organisations to withdraw Bill 7 are misplaced.

Chief government spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA also says concerns by some Civil Society Organisations that government is using arrogance to manipulate the constitution and give the UPND undue advantage in next year’s general election are unsubstantiated.

Speaking during a Press Briefing in Choma today, Mr MWEETWA challenged such Civil Society Organisations to instead consider coming up with refined proposed provisions to the Draft Bill.

He said the alternative provisions will mirror the CSO’s thoughts with what they consider better than what government is proposing through Bill 7.

Mr. MWEETWA who is Information and Media Minister explained that government has from the beginning made it clear that the provisions are merely proposals for people to input their views and ideas.

And Mr. MWEETWA has dismissed information in a video and audio on some international platforms purporting that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has taken a stance against some countries in the west relating to refund of visa fees.

He clarified that at no time did the President or any government official demand visa refunds from the European Union and United Kingdom for rejected visa application fees for Zambian applicants.

Mr. MWEETWA has urged the public to exercise caution and verify information through credible channels.

Meanwhile, the minister said government should not be held accountable for personal undertakings by some government officials, as some statements are made in individuals’ personal capacities.

This is in the wake of Local Government Permanent Technical Services, NICHOLAS PHIRI’s statement that he would resign if the CDF ambulances were not delivered by the end of May 2025.

Mr. MWEETWA said the PS made the statement in his personal capacity and it was not government that committed that he would resign.

At the same briefing, Mr. MWEETWA disclosed that the auction sale of bulls from President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s Choma farm has been brought forward to this Sunday, instead of Monday.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE GOVERNMENT-MEDIA ENGAGEMENT HELD BY THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND MEDIA AND CHIEF GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON HON. CORNELIUS MWEETWA MP, TODAY

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE GOVERNMENT-MEDIA ENGAGEMENT HELD BY THE MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND MEDIA AND CHIEF GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON HON. CORNELIUS MWEETWA MP, TODAY.

1. Government Urges CSOs to Submit Alternative Proposals on Bill No. 7

• Call for Constructive Engagement:

Government has invited Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to propose refined and alternative provisions to Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 7, 2025, instead of simply demanding its withdrawal.

• Inclusive Consultation Process:

Government emphasized the amendment process is consultative and inclusive, engaging citizens, traditional leaders, the church, student bodies, labor movements, and political entities.

• Financial Justification:

Over K300 million has been lost through by-elections in the past three years—mostly at the local level. The bill aims to reduce this cost and redirect funds to key areas such as:

• Free education
• University student meal allowances
• Constituency Development Fund (CDF)
• No Political Advantage to President Hichilema:

Government dismissed claims that the bill benefits the President politically, stating it contains no provisions that affect the 2026 elections.

• Delimitation is a Constitutional Requirement:

The planned constituency delimitation exercise is not political but required by the Constitution after every 10 years, and Zambia has now completed that cycle.

2. Government Dismisses Claims on EU, UK Visa Refund Demands

• Clarification on Misinformation:

Government categorically denied social media claims that President Hichilema demanded visa fee refunds from the EU or UK for rejected Zambian applicants.

• No Official Statement Issued:

Neither the President nor any government official has made such demands.

• Call for Caution:

Citizens were urged to verify information through official and credible sources to avoid spreading misinformation.

• Diplomatic Commitment Reaffirmed:

Zambia remains committed to maintaining strong, respectful relations with all international partners, including the EU and UK.

Conclusion:

The government reiterated its commitment to transparency, constructive dialogue, and constitutional integrity, while warning against misinformation that may mislead the public or jeopardize international relations.

CHIPO MWANAWASA SLAMS DEFAMATORY POSTS IN POWERFUL COURT TESTIMONY

CHIPO MWANAWASA SLAMS DEFAMATORY POSTS IN POWERFUL COURT TESTIMONY

30th May 2025

LUSAKA — In a case that has captured national attention and raised serious concerns about the misuse of social media, Ms. Chipo Mwanawasa, 36, appeared before the Lusaka Magistrate Court to provide evidence concerning a fabricated scandal involving President Hakainde Hichilema.

Ms. Mwanawasa has strongly refuted claims circulating on Facebook pages “Munyaule Zambia” and “Dear Zambia,” which falsely accused her of being pregnant with President Hichilema’s child. Central to these claims was a forged court summons dated October 11, 2024, purportedly from Chibombo Local Court.

From her powerful testimony it was clear that Ms. Mwanawasa remains steadfast in her commitment to serve the nation, working towards the betterment of all Zambians – refusing to let malicious attacks deter her from her professional responsibilities.

In her testimony, Ms. Mwanawasa recalled how the defamatory posts began spreading shortly after the death of her mother, the late Mrs. Maureen Mwanawasa, in 2024. Upon returning to Zambia for the funeral, family members expressed concern over the circulating posts.

She was shown screenshots from two Facebook pages, including a malicious headline.

Following the family’s discussions, a family member reported the matter to the police. A few days later, Ms. Mwanawasa also visited Police Headquarters in Lusaka, where she was informed that investigations had already commenced.

Ms. Mwanawasa told the court that the allegations have caused her and her family pain, further harming the dignity of the Office of the President. She made it clear that she has no relation to a “Mr. Chofwa Monde,” is not pregnant, and is determined to defend her name against the smear campaign.

The case is being prosecuted under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act of 2021, which criminalizes the dissemination of false information and cyber harassment. Leading the proceedings is Ms. Idah Phiri, who emphasized the seriousness of the matter and the damage caused by such defamatory conduct.

The matter is still ongoing, with further hearings expected as authorities work to trace and bring to justice those behind the false publications.

VOLUNTEER DOCTORS WITHDRAW SERVICES

RESIDENT DOCTORS TO WITHDRAW FROM VOLUNTARY SERVICES AMID UNPAID LABOR CRISIS

The Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) has announced a nationwide withdrawal of all volunteer Resident Doctors from public hospitals effective Monday, 2nd June 2025, citing the unsustainable reliance on unpaid medical labor across more than 50% of the country’s healthcare facilities.

In a statement issued by RDAZ President Dr. Paul Chibwe, the Association expressed deep concern over the continued use of unemployed Resident Doctors to deliver essential medical services under voluntary arrangements, without any formal engagement or remuneration.

“While we recognize and commend the dedication to patient care by our members, this situation is unsustainable in the absence of a clear commitment and engagement from the relevant authorities,” Dr. Chibwe stated.

The decision to withdraw services follows extensive deliberations within the Association and is intended to highlight the urgent need for fair employment conditions and recognition of the contributions made by these doctors.

“This decision has not been taken lightly,” Dr. Chibwe emphasized. “But it is necessary to protect the rights and welfare of our members who have continued to serve without pay or job security for far too long.”

RDAZ reiterated its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with government stakeholders and called on authorities to act swiftly to prevent a healthcare crisis.

“We urge the relevant authorities to prioritize this matter to avoid further disruptions in healthcare delivery,” the statement read.

The move is expected to place additional strain on an already overstretched healthcare system, raising concerns over patient care continuity in affected institutions.

The Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) has observed with great concern the persistent reliance on unemployed Resident Doctors to provide essential medical services in over 50% of our public hospitals under voluntary arrangements. While we recognize and commend the dedication to patient care, this situation is unsustainable in the absence of a clear commitment and engagement from the relevant authorities.

After careful deliberation, the Association has resolved that all volunteer Resident Doctors should withdraw from their respective sites effective Monday, 2nd June 2025. This decision has not been taken lightly but stems from the urgent need to address the longstanding issue of unpaid medical labor and secure fair working conditions for our members.

POLICE SAY KAPIRI WOMAN LIED ABOUT ABANDONED CHILD TO GET MONEY AND FOOD

Police have dismissed a viral video on social media that claimed a woman in Kapiri Mposhi was left with an abandoned baby by a passerby.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says investigations have shown that the woman is actually the child’s biological mother. She allegedly made up the story to get money and food from well-wishers.

“The video caused unnecessary panic. We urge the public to stop sharing false and unverified information online, as it wastes police time and causes alarm,” said Hamoonga.

NO VOTE FOR OPPOSITION IN 2026 VOW SESHEKE RESIDENTS

NO VOTE FOR OPPOSITION IN 2026 VOW SESHEKE RESIDENTS….

30th/5/25

Residents of Sesheke District in Western Province have vowed not to vote for opposition in 2026 as all their votes are for President Hakainde Hichilema whom they said is the savior all Zambians especially those in rural areas were praying for all these years.

The jubilant residents said this at party mobilization and recruitment meetings in readiness for 2026 in two Wards namely Nakatindi and Mulimambango which were addressed by Western Province Presidential Campaign Team Coordinator General Max Kasabi.

The meetings which were well attended as residents turned out in big numbers were characterized by dance, slogans and songs appreciating President Hichilema’s visionary leadership which has transformed Zambia and improved citizens’ lives.

Coordinator General Kasabi encouraged the residents to get National Registration Cards as well as Voters cards in readiness for 2026 polls.

” If all of us here appreciate President Hichilema’s visionary leadership, then let’s ensure that we don’t waste any votes on the vision less opposition who are time wasters and hypocrits enjoying HH’s free education policy and all the social protection programs yet they criticize and insult him all the time despite the achievements the President has scored.” Kasabi said to wild applause from the live wire crowds.

The meetings were also attended by party officials, area Councillors as well as Sesheke Council Chairperson Simushi Akapelwa who also encouraged the residents to be HH’s Frontline campaigners because of his pro poor policies that have transformed their lives.

12 Ways ECL’s Tonse Alliance Shall Win 2026 Elections Even If HH Passed His New Undemocratic Constitution- Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba

12 Ways ECL’s Tonse Alliance Shall Win 2026 Elections Even If HH Passed His New Undemocratic Constitution

By Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba

……When Great Goliath saw young David in battle facing him, he made a positive and confident assumption that David was a mere toddler, a poor shepherd who could be instantly killed with his finger instead of using any weapon. But Goliath didn’t know that David’s courage and power was his faith in the Creator of the Universe, the Mighty Wonder, God himself. With a simple stone, the Legendary Goliath was killed with thunder of divine power like a foolish dog. Then, young David finished him by cutting his head and lifted it to be proclaimed a great champion in triumph. The rest is history! The political lesson for President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) and UPND in this story is: “never make positive and confident assumptions about the outcome of any process if you have no direct control to determine the end results”…

A. Introduction

The Bible says, “The horse is prepared for the battle, but victory belongs to God”. The way it ended in humiliation, disappointment and shameful defeat for Mighty and confident Goliath after all his lifetime preparations before young David and God himself, HH must prepare for similar political end results next year even if he may succeed to impose a new despotic constitution this year. Here are the usual 12 points to take note and comfort Zambian voters:

B.  12 Reasons Why HH Will Still Fall Politically Next Year Even With His New Despotic and Authoritarian Constitution Before ECL’s Tonse Alliance

1. While HH won 2021 with the lies of “Bally Will Fix It”, HH shall lose 2026 with “Zambians Have Fixed Bally” as this proposed new despotic constitution will not redeem HH from falling politically. Factually, voter behavior is an independent political variable outside State House and Bally’s control. Yes, it may be possible for HH to manipulate 112 MPs needed to change the constitution in his favor. But it’s impossible for HH to manipulate more than 8 million citizens to vote in his favor next year. it’s false wishful thinking. As long as Bally does not have full control over the ballot decisions of the voters, HH is amending this constitution in vain because he is merely preparing for the worst defeat and painful political embarrassment of his life in 2026.

2. In Genesis 11: 1,4-6, the Bible presents the story of “The Tower of Babel” as follows: “1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” 5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them”.

3. When it comes to August next year, most Zambians are treating the Presidential Elections like “The Tower of Babel” story. They have a common political understanding and speak with one language everywhere that HH manipulatively lied in 2021, HH is a bad leader who is anointing himself as a dictator, HH has failed to deliver his campaign promises, HH must be voted out of power,  HH is a One Term President and that regrettably,  ECL was by far a better leader in many areas than Bally.

4. In Verse 6, The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them”. In 2026, it is becoming clearly that Zambians are speaking with one language of voting out HH and God is confirming that “nothing our people plan to do will be impossible for them”. Where things are politically and economically, there are no rigging schemes that can help or prevent HH and UPND from facing a revolutionary landslide defeat next year-not even his new unholy constitution.

5. In this Babel Bible story, God is confirming to HH and everyone in UPND that when the masses politically resolve to vote you out of power for multiple negative reasons such as deception, tribalism, regionalism, gross failure, grand corruption, looting, plunder, incompetence or vengeful leadership, passing and imposing a new undemocratic constitution to favor yourself politically cannot stop the people from exercising their revolutionary powers to thunderously vote you out. HH faces the “Towel of Babel” story for 2026 because the majority voters in Zambia have a common political language and position of merely removing him from power. And HH has zero control over the voters and their ballot decisions in 2026.

6. As such, Zambians must never be afraid of HH’s selfish, unpatriotic, undemocratic, unpopular and autocratic schemes to change the constitution because HH pompously lied, he has lamentably failed to deliver on campaign promises, UPND is vehemently hated everywhere and above all, HH has zero control over the decisions of the Zambian voters. Even if HH was to change the constitution to anoint himself as the autocratic supreme leader, come August 2026, HH and UPND must prepare to face a historic political tropical cyclone, thunderstorm Hurricanes and revolutionary typhoons from the Zambian voters and will still be defeated shamelessly especially under the signature of ECL either as a political king or king maker.

7. Yes, through his 2025 new constitution, HH may succeed to arm himself with historic authoritarianism, grand despotic powers and savagery draconian authority, but HH will not succeed to change people’s political perceptions about him as a bad leader, pathetic failure, great lier, dictatorial president, a bitter oppressor, double standard ruler, etc and how the Zambians will vote in 2026. No matter what he does, HH has reached a point of no return to test landslide political defeat in 2026 because he is not perceived as a hero or legend among most people but as a political lier, failure, traitor and disaster. At his worst ranking this far, HH has no positive influence and political control to attract most Zambian voters in his favor next year.

8. On 4th May, 2025 in Diggers Newspaper. Prof. Neo Simutanyi, an accomplished Zambian Political Scientist factually confirmed that “UPND’s HH is unlikely to secure the 50%+1 threshold in 2026”because we all know that Bally has lost political credibility and popularity in this four years. In an online opinion poll conducted by Hon. Matomola Likwanya, a renowned UPND Senior leader in May, 2025 between UPND’s HH and PF/Tonse Alliance’s ECL, HH’s UPND poorly scored 5,034 votes representing 34% support while ECL’s PF shot higher with 9,410 voters representing 65% tripled popularity. Once again, HH is making a wrong and false assumptions to think that a new constitution can help to redeem him with such low public ratings. The correct hypothesis is: “never make positive assumptions about the outcome of any process if you have no direct control to determine the end results”. He has zero control over voter’s decisions!

9. As long as HH has no direct power over the political behavior and ballot choices of the Zambian masses on how they will vote in August next year, HH’s schemes to amend the constitution to politically aid himself will be rendered completely useless, obsolete, impotent and ineffective come 2026. Look, 2026 is not about how HH plans to rig or manipulate elections, it’s about the revolutionary decisions of the masses, the the voters power of which HH and UPND have no control or influence. HH is wrongly thinking that with a new constitution in place, winning 2026 will be easier. Once again, HH must be reminded that 2026 is for Zambians, the voters and not any manipulative schemes.

10. HH’s brutal nightmare for 2026 is the combined force of ECL and the disappointed million voters than anything or anyone. Like other politically influential former presidents such as Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, Jacob Zuma of South Africa, Ian Khama of Botswana, Donald Trump of USA, John Dramani Mahama of Ghana or Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, Zambia’s Edgar Lungu (ECL) is the most important and dominant political variable to effect regime change in 2026 against HH regardless of UPND’s rigging schemes. Even a gang of 10, 20 or 50 opposition leaders put together into a United Opposition Front (UOF), their political popularity and influence means nothing as long as it lacks ECL’s direct involvement. The classic example is UKA-it politically died the day ECL joined Tonse Alliance.

11. Regardless of what HH does for now, it is important to keep the correct winning philosophy going into 2026. Once the opposition focus on ECL and present him as the regime change password, game changer or king maker under Tonse Alliance, HH is guaranteed of politically failing and eventually falling even with a new authoritarian constitution in his hands come August 2026. In the mirror of Inácio Lula da Silva, Jacob Zuma, Ian Khama, Donald Trump, John Dramani Mahama or Benjamin Netanyahu, Zambia’s Edgar Lungu’s influence going into 2026 is well established and validated. For example, Tonse Alliance only became politically alive countrywide and the most fearful outfit the day ECL became its chairman and 2026 presidential candidate. Consequently, whatever HH may do to change the constitution this year will count to nothing in 2026 before the eyes of influential ECL and angry million Zambian voters.

12. According to 1 Samuel 8: 1,5-7, the Bible says: “5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead[b] us, such as all the other nations have.” 6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king”. In like manner,  most Zambians are increasingly rejecting HH for multiple reasons and HH knows that he faces a total political rejection in August 2026. And when a President who was so popular in 2021 among voters with above 60% support base is at his worst unpopular position of below 35% among most citizens in 2025, his undemocratic constitutional amendments to help him defend power must be deemed completely futile and meaningless politically. This is where HH is standing as we speak!

C. Conclusion

In closing the discourse, it is imperative to stress that, HH may have some degree of political control over parliament and may manipulatively influence many MPs to pass and impose a new undemocratic constitution to favour him politically, but HH and UPND have no control over people’s political behavior on how they will vote next year. This is where HH’s arbitrary efforts to impose this new authoritarian constitution are technically muted, politically strangled and destroyed because most Zambians have already decided to vote him out of power come August 2026.

Samuel Maimbo is simply the latest victim of Zambia’s misguided foreign policy- DR SISHUWA SISHUWA

DR SISHUWA SISHUWA WRITES

Samuel Maimbo is simply the latest victim of Zambia’s misguided foreign policy under the current administration. Previous victims include Chaloka Beyani, who was seeking election to the International Court of Justice, and Mubita Nawa who stood for the position of Interpol Secretary General. And now we  have Maimbo for the African Development Bank (AfDB) presidency.

To be sure, Maimbo, a terribly nice person, had his own weaknesses. For instance, he lacks the kind of experience in government and African institutions that his competitors possessed. His long stint in a relatively senior role at the World Bank made him vulnerable to charges that he was not the best person to lead an institution seeking to free itself from Western stranglehold.

Still, he was a good candidate in many respects. His main weakness was also his strength: backing from Zambia, whose current leadership is not favourably looked upon in many quarters outside Zambia!

I am also quite uneasy that the candidates who continue to be floated by Zambia for these international positions are all coming from one region of the country. First, it was Chaloka Beyani from Southern Province. Next, it was Mubita Nawa from Western Province. Then there was Shebo Nalishebo, also from Western Province, who was nominated by the government to assume the NON-ELECTIVE and rotational role of Executive Director to represent the interests of Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, and Zambia on the AfDB Group Board of Directors. (Nalishebo was an alternate director for the past two years but now going in full time) And now, Maimbo also from Southern Province.

How exactly is the selection of candidates to support decided by our government? Does it mean that we do not have Zambians from outside the same region who are eligible and qualified for support to these international roles? Or is it proximity to those in corridors of power that matters most?

I am aware that all the four candidates I have mentioned are either relatives or close friends of high-level figures in the civil service or executive arm of government who hail from the two provinces. What criteria is used to choose candidates?

HON MUNDUBILE TELLS JUSTICE MINISTER TO STOP WASTING TAX PAYERS MONEY

HON MUNDUBILE TELLS JUSTICE MINISTER TO STOP WASTING TAX PAYERS MONEY
…….says bill 7 must be abandoned

Lusaka………..Thursday, 29th May, 2025.

Mporokoso Member of Parliament Brian Mundubile has urged Justice Minister Princess Kasune to stop wasting tax payers money by pretending to get submissions on the Constitutional Amendment Bill.

This comes after the Justice Minister convened a meeting in Northern Province, purportedly to collect submissions on the bill.

Speaking at a Press Briefing in Lusaka today, Hon Mundubile questioned the purpose of collecting submissions when the bill had already been published in the gazette.

He said the bill’s process was flawed from the beginning, with the government ignoring advice from the Citizens,  Law Association of Zambia, the Catholic Bishops, and civil society organizations to halt the process and engage in broader consultations.

Hon Mundubile wonders why it is the UPND themselves who want to come up with laws to govern the people.

He said the people of Northern Province find it disturbing that the Minister told them to make submissions which will not have any impact on the bill that has already been published.

Hon Mundubile has suggested that the government should start anew, gathering views from traditional leaders, citizens and other stakeholders to create a proper social contract that reflects the people’s aspirations.

He has since implored the Minister to take into account the submissions the people made, the concerns of Northern chiefs on the process of this particular amendment.

“Our fears were confirmed on 23rd May when the bill was published. All the clauses are frightening, Citizens are worried.   The message coming from Northern Province is that members of the public vehemently reject this particular bill. They demand that this process be abandoned and that the same way hon Kasune was able to go to them, it should start from there so that they can get views of traditional leaders and what they want to be contained in the constitution.

This will enable a proper social contract can then be executed, one that will set rules of which the people of Northern Province will agree to governance themselves alongside people from other provinces of Zambia,” he said.

CHIEF MABUMBA DISTANCES HIMSELF AND  OTHER LUAPULA CHIEFS FROM CHISUNKA’s ENDORSEMENT OF BILL 7

CHIEF MABUMBA DISTANCES HIMSELF AND ITHER LUAPULA CHIEFS FROM CHISUNKA’s ENDORSEMENT OF BILL 7.

Contrary to what has been reported in the times of Zambia tabloid dated 29/05/2025, I HRH Chief Mabumba VIII do hereby distance myself from that statement.

That statement was only known by one Chief Chisunka and was not availed to me just like many other Chiefs. We were just surprised that Chief Chisunka read the communiqué without sharing with anyone.

Morality of an action should be based on whether that action itself is right or wrong under a series of rules and principles, rather based on the consequences.

Therefore, there is need to build consensus because this document belongs to the people of Zambia. Constitution is not only sacred but sacrosanct. The veil of ignorance states that Justice emerges when negotiating without social differentiation. “For justice to be served fairness is fundamental”. If justice perishes human life on Earth has lost its meaning.

Leadership calls for humanity and being human essentially involves the other. And the strength of a society is its commitment to justice and equality.

The government should not rush with the amendment of the constitution until the Zambian people agree with the process as well as the proposed amendments.

The process protects the contents. Also almost all the provisions being proposed in the bill #7 are election related. What about the other clauses. Delimitation of constituents can be done even without amending the constitution because it’s provided for under article 58 of the constitution which gives the mandate to ECZ to delimitate every 10 years.

However, the report should be given so that we are fully informed about what’s being suggested.

ZAMBIA NEEDS PATRIOTIC, FRESH LEADERSHIP IN 2026 – M’MEMBE

ZAMBIA NEEDS PATRIOTIC, FRESH LEADERSHIP IN 2026 – M’MEMBE

Lusaka… Thursday May 29, 2025 – As the nation prepares for the 2026 general elections, Socialist Party (SP) President Dr. Fred M’membe has called for a shift in leadership, saying Zambia needs a new, patriotic direction driven by fresh ideas and a clear plan for the future.

In a statement, Dr. M’membe said Zambians would soon be faced with a critical choice between clinging to the past or securing a better future for the next generation.

He argued that the current government’s policies had failed to uplift the majority of citizens and no longer addressed the country’s pressing challenges.

According to Dr. M’membe, the Socialist Party is offering a transformative vision for Zambia, one rooted in policies that prioritise Zambians in all sectors of development.

He stressed that a fundamental change was necessary in how the government approached public services, particularly healthcare and education.

He said the party’s agenda focused on creating a socialised health system with free services, and radically improving the education sector.

“We believe passionately in the power of education,” Dr. M’membe stated, adding that his party supports the provision of free, high-quality education from primary to university level.

Dr. M’membe also described education as the “engine room of equity” and a vital component of economic growth.

He emphasised the importance of building a skilled, innovative, and well-trained workforce to keep pace with global competitors who were investing heavily in knowledge-based economies.

The Socialist Party leader warned that Zambia could not achieve a knowledge economy without strengthening its universities.

He highlighted the need for institutions to attract and retain top scientists, innovators, and researchers.

Dr. M’membe concluded by urging Zambians to take decisive action in 2026, stressing that only a bold transformation in leadership and public policy could place the country on a sustainable path to prosperity.

Kulima tower bus station endorses HH for 2026

KULIMA Tower Bus Station Drivers have thrown its full support behind President Hakainde Hichilema, declaring their intention to back him for the 2026 and 2031 presidential elections.

Speaking to  journalists this morning, Kulima Tower bus drivers chairperson, Nicholas Banda said he believes that President Hichilema’s leadership and vision are exactly what Zambia needs to continue its progress and development.

Banda cited the end of cadre-based intimidation in the station as a major reason for their endorsement.

Banda highlighted President Hichilema’s positive impact, citing the Free Education Policy and the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway as examples of his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of Zambians.

“We have seen significant improvements in education and infrastructure which are a testament to Hichilema’s commitment to ensuring that all Zambian children have access to a quality education, regardless of their background,” he said.

Phiri affirmed that Hichilema is the solution that Zambia needs for a prosperous future.

He further announced that the station will offer commuters including pregnant women, the disabled, the aged as well as those born in June free rides in a gesture to celebrate President Hichilema’s birthday which falls on June 4, 2025.

He stated that drivers are showing their support for Hichilema’s relentless efforts to end the social problems that the country has experienced in the past.

Banda revealed that providing a photocopy of the National Registration Card (NRC) or a birth certificate would facilitate the identification process for the intended recipients of the free rides.

I WILL RESIGN, NO SORRY, I WILL NOT RESIGN OVER AMBULANCES – PHIRI

I WILL RESIGN, NO SORRY, I WILL NOT RESIGN OVER AMBULANCES – PHIRI

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Nicholas Phiri has backpedaled his earlier pledge to resign over failure to deliver 156 ambulances.

Earlier today, Phiri said he would not resign following the failure to have 156 Constituency Development Fund-CDF funded ambulances delivered in the country by 31st May 2025.

Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, Mr. Phiri said unforeseen logistical challenges had hindered the delivery of the remaining ambulances being procured through Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency-ZAMMSA.

He cited his responsibility to ensure the ambulances were purchased at the right price and meet the required quality standards as the reason for not resigning, adding that resigning would not expedite the delivery of the ambulances.

He disclosed that all the 156 ambulances have already been procured and secured, with 47 of them currently in in the custody of government.

President Hichilema Shock Removal of Likando Kalaluka from the UN Top Job- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

President Hichilema Shock Removal of Likando Kalaluka from the UN Top Job

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba Wrote;

The election at the African Development Bank (AfDB) where former World Bank Vice President and Zambia’s Samuel Munzele Maimbo participated, reignited my memory to a sad episode in 2021 where national interests were sacrificed, personal anger and bitterness were openly displayed and were Africa’s work was thrown out because of petty local politics back home in Zambia.

It was October 2021 and President Hakainde Hichilema was the new President of the Republic of Zambia.

One of my last assignment as Permanent Representative at the African Union in Addis Ababa, was to get Zambia’s Attorney General, Likando Kalaluka SC  elected to the prestigious United Nations International Law Commission.

The International Law Commission (ILC) is a United Nations body of experts responsible for promoting the progressive development of international law and its codification.

Established in 1947, the ILC works to identify gaps in international law, propose new rules, and codify existing ones.

As a mission team, we had campaigned hard for the whole year, we drew in friends and sister nations and overcame many hurdles.

Kalaluka also put in his all, campaigned among law groupings and organisations in Africa for member states to support his candidature.

We also broke the francophone, Arab and South-West Africa jinx that makes elections at multilateral bodies like the African Union difficult because of these voting blocks.

Ask anyone who has participated in these continental elections, whether it’s in football at the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa ( ANOCA) or the AfDB!

Our campaigns also required that concerted efforts were made with the African Group at the United Nations (UN) in New York.

The election of African candidates to international systems and international jobs has been streamlined and now follows an adopted process by the African Union.

This is a process where the African Union (AU) and its member states nominate and selects individuals for positions within international organizations.

This plays a crucial, helps review nominations and ensuring a single, endorsed candidate from Africa stands and has a better chance to win at global stage.

Africa has been allocated nine seats on the International Law Commission.

We had over 21 candidates from member states vying for the nine slots available.

At the 39th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the 3rd Mid-Year Coordination  Meeting between the African Union, the Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms, held between 14-16th October 2021 and attended by newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Stanley Kakubo, we succeeded!

Kalaluka was elected!

Kalaluka’s candidature was adopted together with other candidates from; Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, DRC, Algeria, Kenya, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Mauritania.

The following day we made the victorious and celebratory official announcement in a media statement made by our Mission Press Secretary.

We later saw off the new Minister fly back.

This was in October 2021.

President Hakainde Hichilema had been in office for a month or so.

Although we knew that we would be recalled,we continued to work diligently and demonstrated usual patriotic dedication.

It was the following week that Hon Kakubo gave me a troubling phone call.

He said he had been directed that  the nomination of Kalaluka to the United Nations must be withdrawn immediately, and he wanted to understand the process required to do so.

I was shocked!

This was Zambia’s victory to have our own national elected as a member to the prestigious United Nations body.

It’s a lawyer’s ultimate dream!

Further, it had been a year’s campaign and hard lobbying, and I dare say my own personal and weighty influence at the African Union had made us reach thus far.

Kalaluka’s election at the United Nations would be merely symbolic as the list from the African Union is never amended or tampered with.

We have had rare cases such as the case of the World  Trade Organisation (WTO) election in 2021, where Africa Union’s adopted candidate, Kenya’s Amina Mohamed a lawyer and renowned diplomat was somehow bumped off to accommodate multilateral partners’ preference for
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Nigeria), a renowned economist and former Nigerian Finance Minister.

She ultimately won the position, becoming the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO.

I explained to Hon.Kakubo that the African Union Commission could not reverse the decision adopted by the Executive Council and had actually proceeded to forward the adopted list to the United Nations.

I advised that maybe Zambia could then formally withdraw Kalaluka’s participation through communication written by our Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

And so it was, on 3rd November, 2021, Zambia formally wrote to the United Nations Secretary General to formally withdraw the name of Likando Kalaluka SC as a candidate for the United Nations International Law Commission.

Kalaluka would have been the first Zambian lawyer to sit on this prestigious Commission.

Ba Hichilema filya taba cita!

Remember Zambia comes first.

UKA LAUNCHES VITAL GOVERNING DOCUMENTS AND ANNOUNCES KEY APPOINTMENTS

UKA LAUNCHES VITAL GOVERNING DOCUMENTS AND ANNOUNCES KEY APPOINTMENTS

29th May 2025

Today marks a significant milestone in the journey of the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), as the long-awaited foundational documents were officially launched. Since UKA’s formation last year, we committed to establishing a clear governance framework

‘However, for over a year, we struggled to finalize these essential documents. Instead of focusing on our shared vision to unite and streamline leadership under a common purpose, we were unfortunately distracted by internal leadership disputes, a challenge that delayed our progress,’ UKA Chairperson Mr. Robert Chansa said.

Speaking at the launch, UKA Media Chairperson Ms. Saboi Imboela emphasized the importance of this moment:

‘We had promised the Zambian people and ourselves that UKA would be grounded on principles, values and structure. We are no longer going to allow a situation where one person can wake up and expell another due to the absence  of institutional frameworks. That era is behind us,’ Ms. Imboela said.

Today we move forward with a clear constitution, a power-sharing agreement, a memorandum of understanding and a disciplinary code of conduct.

The documents were officially launched by the UKA Chairperson, Mr. Robert Chansa. These include:

The UKA Alliance Constitution

The Power Sharing Agreement

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

The Disciplinary Code of Conduct.

The Chairperson also announced the expulsion of Ms. Chishala Kateka from UKA and announced the appointments of people in key positions.

‘The launch marks a new chapter for UKA, one built on unity, structure, and purpose. The Alliance is now better positioned to serve the Zambian people and offer an alternative vision of leadership anchored in democratic values and transparency’ Mr Chansa said.

COURT ORDERS 2 MPs TO PAY K50,000 EACH OR FACE JAIL TERM FOR FAILING TO AVAIL CHILUFYA TAYALI

LUSAKA Principal Resident Magistrate Sylvia Munyinya has ordered Nakonde Member of Parliament Lukas Simumba and his Mpika counterpart Francis Kapyanga to pay K50,000 or serve 2 months imprisonment each for failing to avail opposition Equity and Economic Party President Chilufya Tayali before the court.

Mr. Tayali is charged with harassment via electronic communication under the cyber security and cybercrimes act no. 2 of 2021 and has missed proceedings for more than a year.

However, when summoned by the court to explain Mr. Tayali’s absence, the two legislators failed to account for the accused whereabouts or ensure his appearance but indicated that he only lacks funds to return to Zambia.

The Magistrate held the MPs responsible as Mr. Tayali’s sureties and directed them to secure his attendance or face the imposed penalties by 16 June 2025.

Mr. Tayali is accused of alleging, during a Facebook live session on 10 November 2022, that senior chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya people masterminded the 2019–2022 gassing incidents which engulfed the country.

BILL 7 IS TOTAL FRAUD- HON KAFWAYA

BILL 7 IS TOTAL FRAUD- HON KAFWAYA

……..says UPND arrogance has gone out of the roof

Lusaka………..Thursday, 29th May, 2025.

Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has described the recently published Constitutional Amendment number 7 of 2025 as Total Fraud.

Hon Kafwaya said the Zambian people should reject the bill because their views have not been considered.

He has questioned the perceived consultations being undertaken by Justice Minister Princess Kasune when the bill has already been published.

Hon Kafwaya said such an activity is deception on the part of the UPND and a waste of Tax payers money.

Hon Kafwaya said this bill has been gazetted for onward transmission to the National Assembly for enactment.

He said this means that the Executive has completed its work and the only job that remains for the executive, it is for the President to sign this bill once it passes Parliament and thereafter becomes part of the constitution.

He said the UPND arrogance has continued despite the constitutional amendment being rejected overwhelmingly by all critical statekeholders.

“What are those consultations for because the bill has already been published. That is deception, it is a waste of resources.  The executive cannot make consultations on behalf of Parliament. Parliament will appoint it’s own committee. I find this exercise as deception by the UPND,”  he said.

And Hon Kafwaya criticized the bill’s content, particularly the introduction of 42 unelected individuals who would find their way into Parliament.

He wondered who these individuals would represent and argued that the bill’s provisions would lead to unnecessary expenses with 211 MPs and 42 additional individuals continuing to draw salaries even after Parliament is dissolved.

Hon Kafwaya has also described the bill’s provisions as immoral, particularly the suggestion that the Attorney General and Auditor General remain in office until new appointees are sworn in, even if the current President loses elections.

He said that the bill’s process and content are completely wrong and urged the people of Zambia to reject it.

“What type of thinking is this, parliament is dissolved.  Three months that is given for campaign, it is wrong to make people pay for leaders who are not working. It is immoral.   The process and the content is completely wrong.  This bill is saying that Attorney General and Auditor General, once HH loses elections, this bill is saying the solicitor General, and Attoney General should remain in office until new people are sworn in. They want the attoney General to remain in office even after wrongly advising the President.  What kind of thinking is that…..,” he said.

Why  the SDA Church is Being Politicized?- SDA  Pastor Oscar Mphande

Pastor Oscar Mphande Wrote;

Persistent Political Attacks on the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Zambia

I am writing this as an individual and a pastor within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, not as an official spokesperson for any church entity in Zambia.

In the past month, we have witnessed Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba repeatedly involving the Seventh-day Adventist Church in his political attacks on his Facebook page. Mr. Mwamba, a prominent figure in the Patriotic Front, has used headlines such as: “Fearless SDA Preacher,” “They are destroying the SDA Church,” “Pastors demanding SDA leadership stays away from Partisan politics,” “Love your neighbor less”, “so why do you wish to spend CDF funds on one organization,” and “Stop Politicization of the Church.”

This unprecedented dragging of the church into political discourse is deeply concerning. Mr. Mwamba, seemingly a tool of political propaganda, does not appear to research the facts behind statements made by individuals who claim to criticize church leadership on perceived political issues.

Why the Church is Being Politicized?

The current situation is unique because, for the first time, Zambia has a Republican president who is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Seventh-day Adventist Church maintains an apolitical stance, which is a core policy position. However, this does not preclude church members from aspiring to political leadership.

Since Zambia’s independence in 1964, many Adventist members have served as Members of Parliament, ward councilors, and ministers. The church has consistently offered moral and spiritual support to its members in political leadership, viewing this as both a moral and spiritual obligation. In the past, there was even a Seventh-day Adventist Association for Members of Parliament in Zambia, where church leaders would meet and pray with them.

The church’s policy during campaigns is to avoid direct political involvement or instructing members on whom to vote for. However, after elections, the church always supports its members in leadership positions, believing that their adherence to church teachings will enable them to make a positive difference in society. This support extends beyond politicians; the church celebrates and supports members who achieve success in various fields, including social, political, and scientific endeavors.

For instance, the church in Kenya was proud to have a Chief Justice who was a Seventh-day Adventist, and similarly, the church in another region takes pride in and offers moral and spiritual support to a Seventh-day Adventist Prime Minister. The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s policy is to remain uninvolved in national politics, and its leaders have consistently upheld this principle.

Now, with a Seventh-day Adventist as president, the church is proud and offers him both spiritual and moral support. If the Republican President and his government err, the church’s approach has always been to address concerns privately, never publicly castigating any president or public official.

This tradition dates back to President Kenneth Kaunda’s era and continued through the presidencies of Chiluba, Mwanawasa, Banda, Sata, and Lungu. Even during past instances of human rights abuses, Seventh-day Adventist leaders have always engaged with the government privately.

Seventh-day Adventist pastors adhere to a strict policy of not using the pulpit as a political forum. Political matters are never addressed during worship services. The incident in the Copperbelt was regrettable. When politicians or the president attend a worship service, the Seventh-day Adventist Church does not use the occasion to discuss political issues or current national affairs. Our policy is to minister to politicians in the same way we minister to any church member.

When President Lungu was in office, the church visited and prayed with him, and even our General Conference president joined Zambian church leaders in prayer with him. President Lungu also graced several church events, including the celebration of the church’s one-millionth membership milestone. Despite any national issues at the time, our church leaders and pastors never used these occasions to discuss political matters.

I recall President Rupiah Banda as a guest of honor at a Muluse Dorcas Rally in Lusaka years ago, where he was warmly received by Dorcas mothers. Similarly, when President Hichilema, himself a Seventh-day Adventist, opened a Dorcas Rally, he was welcomed by Dorcas workers holding placards with messages like “Mr. President, we are praying for you” and “Welcome Mr. President.” These were not political statements but expressions of appreciation for his contributions, including a donation of K1.9 million, 200 bags of mealie meal, and boreholes. These decisions were made by Dorcas workers’ committees at various church levels in Southern Zambia Union Conference, without input from church leaders or pastors, and the event was widely understood as spiritual, not political.

When the president encouraged Dorcas workers to access Constituency Development Funds (CDF), he was speaking to them as members of the community, encouraging community clubs across Zambia to utilize available resources, not favoring Seventh-day Adventist women specifically.

The Underlying Motive

The current political targeting of the church, in my immediate assumption, stems from the perceived numbers of Seventh-day Adventists, which President Hakainde Hichilema’s political adversaries fear could give him an advantage. The deliberate dragging of the church into political discussions is likely an attempt to divide the church, as politicians are aware of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s apolitical stance.

Members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church must distinguish between the church supporting a political candidate and its moral and spiritual support for a political leader, which it offers to President Hichilema. Our church leaders will never instruct members on whom to vote for. However, after elections, the church has a moral and spiritual obligation to support political leaders, believing that through our teachings, they will act righteously for the benefit of the community and the nation.

I sincerely wish Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba would cease these attempts to drag the church into political mudslinging, which appears designed to disrupt the perceived political support President Hakainde Hichilema is receiving from the church.

Please note that these are my personal thoughts and do not represent the official position of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

SEAN TEMBO WANTS  UPND TO DIVERT ITS LUMEZI BY-ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FUNDS TO COMPLETING ROAD PROJECTS

SEAN TEMBO WANTS  UPND TO DIVERT ITS LUMEZI BY-ELECTIONS CAMPAIGN FUNDS TO COMPLETING ROAD PROJECTS

By:Sun FM TV Reporter

The opposition Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP) has called on government to announce the 2025 maize floor price, arguing that the issue is critical for farmers following a bumper harvest across the country.

PEP leader, Sean Tembo, has urged the UPND to shift its campaign focus for the Lumezi by-elections from attacking former President Edgar Lungu to addressing pressing issues that directly affect citizens’ well-being.

Mr. Tembo expressed concern over the need for the government to prioritize the distribution of empty maize bags to farmers, including those in Lumezi, to help them secure their produce post-harvest.

He has appealed to the ruling party to divert resources allocated for political campaigns towards completing the long-delayed Chipata-Lumezi road project, which he says is crucial for the area’s development.

Mr. Tembo, however, called on political parties participating in the by-elections to focus on tangible solutions for the people, particularly farmers, who form the backbone of the nation’s economy.

156 Ambulances Must Arrive; I’m Not Resigning – PHIRI

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services NICHOLAS PHIRI says government is working round the clock to ensure that all the 156 ambulances are delivered in the country by August 2025.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. PHIRI said currently 47 ambulances are already in the country while 29 are expected to be in next week Monday.

Mr. PHIRI said he is not going to resign as earlier stated because he has to deliver his promise of delivering the ambulances to all the 156 Constituencies.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA has clarified that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA does not have the mandate to suspend or dismiss Judges without recommendation from the Judicial Complaints Commission -JCC.

HICHILEMA WANTS TO SECURE HIS STAY IN OFFICE….by using constitution amendments, says Greford Monde

HICHILEMA WANTS TO SECURE HIS STAY IN OFFICE

….by using constitution amendments, says Monde

SIKONGO… Thursday May 29, 2025 – Former Fisheries and Livestock Minister Greford Monde has accused President Hakainde Hichilema of using constitutional reforms to secure his stay in office beyond 2026.

Hon Monde says the UPND government is enticing Zambians with delimitation of Constituencies as the reason to amend the constitution but what they truly want is cement President Hichilema’s stay in government.

He said the people of Zambia are not gullible as they can see through what the UPND government is trying to do using the constitution amendments.

Hon Monde further condemned the UPND government for trying to get rid of the 50 plus one, Running Mate, date of elections clauses among others.

He said this in an interview with journalists after the successful filing in nominations of the Tonse Alliance candidate Mundi Limwanya in the Tuuwa Ward by-election in Sikongo District on Tuesday.

“The constitution is a people’s document, this is a document that governs the people. Never at any given time did we see what we are seeing today. A matter of such a high magnitude like a constitution can be a discussion in the bedroom of leaders of government. This should have been a consultative process to bring on board everybody, every Zambian. Now they are trying to entice you Zambians with the delimitation of Constituencies, that is just the ice cream on the cake. The real matter is that President Hakainde Hichilema is actually trying to secure his term in perpetuity in government,” he said.

“The people of Zambia are not dūll, they are able to see through all this. And I can assure you that this constitution is not going to be passed because it is not a people driven process. We reject it, from the onset we are not interested because these clauses are there to propel someone’s stay in power.”

He said the UPND while in opposition, strongly condemned Bill 10 labelling it ēvil.

“If they condemned Bill 10 which had progressive clauses, how about this one? They want to remove 50 plus one clause, the Running Mate clause, they want to take away election date. Mr President you must be able to deliver the promises you gave to the people of Zambia that’s the only way you can secure your stay in power. Otherwise, I can tell you that in less than 10 months that are remaining, you are going.”

Meanwhile, Hon Monde said the UPND has paralyzed government operations as they want to use Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to fund almost everything.

“The UPND have been boasting about one thing which is CDF. The other day I was laughing, the entire President with his carders they are saying CDF ‘kwenyu’, look let’s not be childish. For once we expect a leadership that is very serious. You are buying police vehicles using CDF, what is the Ministry of Home Affairs doing? They don’t have a budget? You are buying ambulances you are putting CDF, what is the Ministry of Health doing? Don’t they have a budget? People are going to school under scholarship using CDF…. Let me tell you, this is mediocre leadership because we expect this government to think and deliver on the promises they made to the people. You can’t put the burden of running a government under CDF,” he concluded.

Speaking earlier, PF Member of the Central Committee Kufuka Kufuka said the former ruling party is reorganizing itself ahead of the 2026 general elections through the Tonse Alliance.

He said even the candidate in Tuuwa Ward filed under the New Congress Party (NCP) which is a member of the Tonse Alliance.

Mr Kufuka said the UPND has lamentably failed to uplift the living standards of the people saying in 2026, they are living office.
