Kanye West walked out of an interview with Piers Morgan after rejecting the questions

Kanye West abruptly walked out of an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan during a tense taping of Piers Morgan Uncensored, leading Morgan to describe the rapper as a “big baby.”

Ahead of the episode’s release on Thursday, May 8, Morgan took to social media platform X to preview the encounter. “So, I interviewed Kanye West again today,” he wrote. “As I expected, given what I’ve said about him recently, it didn’t last long or go well.” He added, “This was him right before he stomped off like a big baby,” sharing a photo of West moments before the walkout.

The interview, which was also attended by social media personality Sneako, saw West exit just two minutes into the conversation. During the short exchange, the rapper defended his creative work, stating, “There is so much love in the art that I put out,” before turning his criticism on Morgan. “You’re failing to take accountability or responsibility,” he said.

West, who now goes by Ye, continued, “We need to rewind… this is what you get for now, we can circle back when you can count,” before standing up and leaving the set. Sneako, remaining seated, told Morgan that the rapper felt patronized during the interview, accusing the host of being intentionally condescending.

The explosive interview comes amid a series of disturbing and controversial public statements made by the 47-year-old musician. Last week, in a video rant referencing his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and their custody dispute, West declared, “I ain’t got no motherfg legacy na, you think I am s**ing out,” and appeared to say, “I’m gay,” though the audio was unclear.

Shortly after, West caused widespread alarm with a post on X in which he made a shocking and graphic claim about his past. “My name is Ye and I sucked my cousin’s d**k till I was 14,” he wrote in the viral post, which has been viewed more than six million times.

He said the post relates to his upcoming track, Cousin, inspired by a relative currently serving a life sentence for murder. In the same message, he reflected on childhood exposure to explicit material, writing, “Perhaps in my self-centered mess I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines when he was 6 and then we acted out what we saw.”

He continued, “My dad had Playboy magazines but the magazines I found in the top of my mom’s closet were different.”

A music video for the song reportedly includes disturbing visuals such as a topless woman with Nazi swastikas in place of nipples, according to E! News. The lyrics of the track repeat graphic and explicit lines, including: “I gave my cousin h**d” and “I told my cousin not to tell nobody.”

West also appears to reference his current relationship struggles with wife Bianca Censori in the song, with lyrics such as: “I told you, don’t leave me, I need you by my side.”

JD Vance hammered online after threatening World Cup soccer fans

Vice President JD Vance stirred swift outrage online Tuesday after delivering a warning to international visitors attending next year’s FIFA World Cup in the United States.

“We will have visitors probably from close to a hundred countries,” he said at a White House event. “We want them to come, we want them to celebrate, we want them to watch the games.”

“But when the time is up, they’ll have to go home, otherwise they will have to talk to Secretary Noem,” he added about Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was sitting a few chairs down from him.

The remarks, which came amid the Trump administration’s hardline immigration crackdown, quickly ignited social media as critics lobbed their own warnings to visitors of the global sporting event.

“Honestly, just watch it from the safety of your sofa, folks.” UK-based traditional media illustrator Luke Ridge posted to his Bluesky account.

“Quite a way to motivate foreign tourists,” Wall Street Journal chief foreign affairs correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov posted to X.

“Trying to decide if Vance is our most sycophantic VP of all time,” University of Illinois professor Kate Clancy wrote on Bluesky. “Please, no one come to the World Cup. We don’t deserve your tourism dollars and you don’t deserve the dangers.”

Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann predicted the World Cup would relocate altogether.

“Relax on Vance’s insane threat to jail international World Cup ticket holders if they don’t leave the country immediately rather than stay here and spend tourism money,” Olbermann wrote on X. “Watch. FIFA will be moving the World Cup elsewhere.”

“Wow weird no one wants to come here,” podcaster John Brooks concluded on Bluesky.

Ramaphosa ordered to provide reasons for NHI Bill signing

Ramaphosa ordered to provide reasons for NHI Bill signing

The Pretoria High Court has ordered President Cyril Ramaphosa to provide reasons for his decision to sign the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill into law on May 15, 2024, ruling that the decision is subject to judicial review.

The court gave him 10 days to submit his record of decision, following a challenge by trade union Solidarity, which argues the bill is unconstitutional, impractical, and unaffordable.

Solidarity contends Ramaphosa ignored significant objections and misrepresented the bill’s implications to stakeholders, claiming it could harm South Africa’s healthcare system.

The NHI Act aims to provide universal healthcare by pooling public and private healthcare spending, but critics, including the Democratic Alliance and business groups, argue it risks financial strain, limits patient choice, and could drive skilled doctors away.

The presidency is reviewing the judgment and considering an appeal, as the case may escalate to the Constitutional Court.

AN OPEN LETTER TO SABOBO: WHEN YOU BECOME A BIG STAR DO NOT GROW BIG HEADED & INSULT COACHES AND THOSE WHO CARED FOR YOU!

AN OPEN LETTER TO SABOBO: WHEN YOU BECOME A BIG STAR DO NOT GROW BIG HEADED & INSULT COACHES AND THOSE WHO CARED FOR YOU!

Football enthusiast Musonda Chibulu Writes…..

Football is a team sport. I heard people call you selfish after two matches  but I defended you. “No, he does not even deserve to be man of the match,” they said after the barren draw against Sierra Leone

Now you have been man of the match in two  of three matches at the  Under -20 Africa Cup of Nations so far-the latest in the 1-0 win over Magorogoro Boys.

Now, listen to coaches and do not insult them when they say, “track back,” ku left wing.

You may have scored today to win the match but do not disrespect those who will score TAP ins after you mufana wanga.

We are celebrating your performance today but remember that defenders and goalkeeper Levison Banda were excellent today.

Sabobo, football is a team sport. No player on a Zambian team for men can claim to be greater than Kalusha Bwalya or Barbra Banda for women.

These have single-handedly won matches but never disrespected anyone.

Do you know a player called Clifford Mulenga? He was kicked out of the Chipolopolo squad that won Africa Cup in 2012.

Just 5 years earlier, the vastly talented Mulenga was the best Under-20 player the whole Africa. Just like a certain Patson Daka in 2017.

Mulenga never disrespected Herve Renard or any administrator.

Indiscipline in a team cannot win you the Africa Cup.

Today, Mulenga is a FAZ youth development officer at Football House and part of the success of taking youth Zambia teams to the World Cup.

Learn Sabobo not to accuse fans when they point out the need to release the ball much quicker. Play like you did against Tanzania .  I really loved the way you behaved after being substituted against Egypt .  That is the way to go.

Sabobo, we saw you play in Chaisa and our desire is to see you play football in England-the Premier League like Daka and Enock Mwepu.

Or Collins Mbesuma for Portsmouth or Emmanuel Mayuka for Southampton or ba Uncle Fred Mwila for Aston Villa.

Sabobo, know we love all our players and will support you when you do well.

But if you show signs of indiscipline, even if you are earning millions in Switzerland , we shall ask you to tone down.

Take heed son, pride comes before a fall and humility before a rise.

Wish you and your fellow Under-20s the best as you seek to emulate what the Dakas and Mwepus achieved in 2017.

Or the Clifford Mulengas did in 2007.

Remember, team play and if you go far we could be talking about Joseph “Sabobo” Banda as CAF 2025 Young Player of the Year.

You will then join an illustrious class of Zambian footballers such as Kalusha, Clifford, Patson, Barbra and Chris Katongo to be named the best on the continent of Africa in various categories.

Signed with much

Netanyahu vows to relocate Gaza’s population

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Gaza’s population will be relocated to the southern part of the enclave, following the approval of an expanded military operation by Israel’s security cabinet — a move a minister described as a plan to “conquer” Gaza.

The decision came after the Israeli military announced it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, significantly boosting its operational capacity in the territory.

“There will be no in-and-out. We’re not going to enter and then withdraw,” Netanyahu said Monday in a video message posted on X.

“The plan is to call up reserves, hold territory, and continue forward.”

He added that civilian displacement was intended “to protect them” as part of the intensified military effort.

The operation, named Gideon’s Chariots, was unanimously approved by the security cabinet and aims to defeat Hamas and secure the release of all hostages, according to a senior Israeli security official. The plan is expected to launch after U.S. President Donald Trump visits the Middle East next week, providing what Israeli officials see as a window for a potential hostage deal.

“If no deal is reached, the operation will begin in full force and continue until all objectives are achieved,” the official said.

Under the plan, Gaza’s population will be moved southward, and the humanitarian blockade may be lifted only after the displacement. The official added that the Israeli military would remain in all captured areas and maintain a permanent security buffer zone around Gaza.

“We are on the verge of a significant entry into Gaza,” Netanyahu said, citing recommendations from the General Staff.

Israeli military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin stated that the top priority of the operation is the return of hostages, placing it above the objective of Hamas’ defeat. “First and foremost, the goal is to bring the hostages home,” he said.

Netanyahu vows to relocate Gaza?s population after cabinet approves plan to ?conquer? enclave

This stance drew criticism from National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who said Defrin was “confused” about the military’s role relative to political leadership.

Families of hostages also expressed concern that an expanded war could jeopardize their loved ones’ safety, criticizing the government’s perceived prioritization of military action over a hostage deal.

When asked about the U.S. stance, National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes said: “The President has made clear the consequences Hamas will face if it continues to hold hostages, including Americans. Hamas bears sole responsibility for this conflict and the resumption of hostilities.”

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich suggested on Monday that Gaza could be annexed following its military capture, stating, “We are finally going to conquer the Gaza Strip.” While he did not formally demand annexation as a war objective, he added, “Once we begin the maneuver, there will be no withdrawal — not even for hostages.”

Smotrich, a far-right figure with significant influence in the coalition, emphasized that any captured territory should remain under Israeli control.

Since mid-March, more than 2,400 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Gaza amid intensified Israeli airstrikes. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports over 52,000 deaths since the conflict began.

Officials noted that military escalation would proceed gradually to allow time for a potential ceasefire or hostage deal before Trump’s visit to the region. His itinerary includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, with no current plans to visit Israel.

The United Nations expressed alarm over Israel’s planned military expansion. UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq stated that Secretary-General António Guterres is “deeply concerned” about the potential for further civilian casualties.

Meanwhile, Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza is now in its ninth week. A new framework to resume aid deliveries was approved by the cabinet but is not yet in effect. Sources said the decision sparked internal debate, with far-right ministers opposing aid and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir arguing that Israel has a legal obligation to facilitate humanitarian relief under international law.

Ex-president snubs Trump in White House event honoring his late mother

Former President George W. Bush is not expected to attend a White House ceremony Thursday honoring his late mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, a notable absence that follows years of lingering tensions between the Bush family and Donald Trump.

First Lady Melania Trump is set to host the East Room event, where she will unveil a new postage stamp commemorating the wife of former President George H.W. Bush, The Washington Post reported Tuesday. While Bush’s snub of the gathering has been confirmed by White House officials, other members of the Bush family are expected to attend.

“Attendees include Doro Bush Koch, George W. Bush’s younger sister who is listed as one of several featured speakers at the unveiling, and Alice Yates, chief executive of the George and Barbara Bush Foundation,” according to the Post report.

While the former Republican president has acknowledged Trump’s political victories in the past, he has repeatedly kept his distance from the MAGA leader for years, the Post pointed out. He declined to endorse Trump in any of his three presidential bids and did not vote for him in 2016 or 2020, instead writing in Condoleezza Rice, his former secretary of state and national security adviser, in the election five years ago.

Trump, for his part, has taken multiple swipes at Bush, criticizing his presidency as “uninspiring” and blaming him for getting the U.S. “into the quicksand of the Middle East (and then not winning!)” according to the Post.

US$250K Cash & SUV For Dr Eunor Guti As Wicknell Chivayo Blesses ZAOGA Family, Continues Campaign on Religious Leaders

Wicknell Chivayo blesses ZAOGA family – Gifts Mai Eunor Guti top of the range car as he continues targeting religious leaders
Businessman and socialite Wicknell Chivayo has once again showered the church with generosity—this time gifting the widow of the late Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, Dr Eunor Guti, with a brand new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR and US$250,000 in cash.

The lavish donation was revealed in a heartfelt Facebook post made by Chivayo just 35 minutes ago, in which he described Archbishop Guti as “a SPIRITUAL ROCK” and “one of the GREATEST GIFTS that Zimbabwe has ever had.”

A heartfelt tribute to a ‘spiritual rock’
In a detailed eulogy marking what would have been Archbishop Ezekiel Guti’s 101st birthday on 5 May, Chivayo honoured the ZAOGA Forward in Faith founder’s legacy.

“Today, I wish to honour a DISTINGUISHED man, a HUMBLE servant of God… the late ARCHBISHOP, DR. EZEKIEL HANDINAWANGU GUTI,” he wrote.

Chivayo recalled how Baba Guti began preaching in the 1960s under a simple eucalyptus tree, eventually building a ministry that now reaches over 140 nations. He praised the Archbishop’s patriotism and loyalty to both God and Zimbabwe, calling him “a SHEPHERD and a giant in the body of Christ.”

“He never changed with the world, but CHANGED THE WORLD,” said Chivayo.

Brand new SUV and US$250,000 for Mai Guti
In honour of Baba Guti’s legacy, Chivayo announced the high-end gifts for his widow, Dr Eunor Guti:

“Please go and see Farai—but Farai from Faramatsi Motors will come to you and deliver your 2025 brand new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR which is fully paid for and ready for delivery,” he said.

He added that the gift is subject to the church’s Governing Board’s consent and comes with a personal cash token.

“Furthermore, please accept USD250,000 in CASH for fuel and your personal use,” he wrote.

A pattern of giving to religious leaders
This is not the first time Wicknell Chivayo has made headlines for donating cars and large sums of money to church leaders. His recent spree has included top-of-the-range vehicles for various pastors and bishops across denominations who include Pastor Ian Ndlovu and his wife as well as Madzibaba Israel and Madzibaba Lawrence Katsiru of the Johanne Masowe YeChishanu Apostolic Sect.

Chivayo explained his actions were driven by deep respect and admiration:

“In recognition of the SELFLESS COMMITMENT to the Gospel, to charity, to education, to health and to building a better nation, I am PROFOUNDLY HUMBLED,” he said.

“You raised a global family, a spiritual army, and without your presence… the world feels just a little more silent.”

The tribute concluded with a solemn farewell:

“Baba Guti, your journey may have ended, but your legacy is ETERNAL. Until we meet again, may your dear departed SOUL CONTINUE TO REST IN PERFECT, GLORIOUS, EVERLASTING AND ETERNAL PEACE.”

Women are more attracted to bald men than men with a full head of hair- study

A new study has revealed that bald men are often perceived as more attractive than men with a full head of hair.

In the study, experts asked 2,000 women about the features they find most attractive in men. While a muscular physique was found to be the most desirable attribute, a bald head was second on the list.

Jessica Leoni, spokeswoman for Illicit Encounters, which commissioned the study, said that attractiveness was ‘in the eye of the beholder’.

‘Bald men are among the sexiest looking chaps out there,’ she added.

While many men worry about losing their hair, baldness could be linked to a range of beneficial traits.

Studies have shown that baldness in men is seen as a non-threatening form of social dominance. Bald men are also thought to be more socially mature, intelligent, educated, and honest compared with men who have a full head of hair.

For the new survey, 2,000 women were asked about the most attractive features in men.

A muscular physique topped the list, having been chosen by 42 percent of the respondents.

This was followed by a bald head (40 percent), blue eyes (38 percent), a beard (36 percent), dark hair (31 percent), and curly hair (30 percent).

Other popular attributes included high cheekbones (26 percent), blonde hair (22 percent), green eyes (21 percent), and a hairy chest (18 percent).

Meanwhile, 10 percent of respondents said they like men with tattoos, and seven percent were fans of piercings.

The findings suggest that instead of spending billions each year trying to reverse or cure their hair loss, men experiencing male pattern baldness could simply embrace it, and shave their heads.

Tom Simons, 45, from Tonbridge, Kent, said he started losing his hair when he was in his mid-30s, and hasn’t looked back.

‘At first I was horrified and started wearing hats and even considered a wig,’ he said.

‘But in the end a female friend told me to just “be bald and proud”, so I did and I’ve not looked back.

‘There is a certain confidence being bald gives you – I can’t say why, but I definitely get chatted up more since I got rid of the hat.’

Smokey Robinson sued for s3xu@l battery by 4 former housekeepers

Smokey Robinson is facing a major legal challenge after four women filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 6, accusing the legendary singer of repeated s3xual assault and rape during their time working for him and his wife, Frances Gladney Robinson.

The four Jane Does allege they were employed as housekeepers for the Robinson household and that their periods of employment overlapped. According to the suit, the alleged abuse spans years, with the earliest incident dating back to 2007. The women claim that while Frances was away, Smokey would summon them to his bedroom or other private areas in the home, where the assaults allegedly took place.

Each of the women describes similar patterns of abuse, including forced oral s3x, digital penetration, and full intercourse against their will. The suit claims the victims explicitly told him “no” during these encounters. Two of the women further allege that Robinson ejaculated inside them without using protection.

According to the filing, Smokey would sometimes prepare by laying a towel down before the assaults to avoid soiling bed linens. The women are now suing him for s3xual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and gender violence, seeking damages of at least $50 million.

Frances Robinson is also named in the lawsuit, though the plaintiffs do not accuse her of participating in the alleged assaults. Instead, they argue she was aware of prior alleged misconduct by her husband and failed to take action. They also accuse her of contributing to a hostile work environment through the use of racially insensitive language, excessive workloads, and the denial of legally mandated meal and rest breaks.

As of now, neither Smokey nor Frances Robinson has responded publicly to the allegations.

Putin has strongly condemned attempts to “revise” the history of World War II

Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly condemned attempts to “revise” the history of World War II during a call with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, May 6.

The conversation focused on efforts to counteract what Moscow views as attempts to falsify the outcome of the war.

In a statement released by the Kremlin, it was noted that both leaders were determined to protect the truth about the events of World War II. “It was noted that the two countries were determined to defend the truth about the events of World War II, to counter attempts to revise its outcome and falsify history,” the statement said.

As part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, Putin is set to address a grand military parade in Moscow on Friday for what Russia calls Victory Day. The Kremlin also highlighted that the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the war is sacred in both Russia and Israel, where May 9 is also observed as a public holiday.

The phone call came after former U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion last week that the United States made the largest contribution to the Allied victory in World War II, a claim that angered Russia. In response, the Kremlin emphasized that both Putin and Netanyahu acknowledged “the decisive contribution of the Red Army and the entire Soviet people to the defeat of Nazism.”

The Israeli readout echoed these sentiments, with Netanyahu emphasizing the pivotal role played by the Red Army in the victory over the Nazis.

World War II, known in Russia as the “Great Patriotic War,” caused immense devastation to the Soviet Union, resulting in the loss of over 20 million civilian and military lives. The war also saw the systematic extermination of more than six million Jews during the Holocaust.

Throughout his presidency, Putin has consistently drawn on the trauma of the war to strengthen national identity, making May 9 Russia’s most significant public holiday and presenting his military as the defenders against fascism. Putin has also frequently referred to Russia’s actions in Ukraine as a fight against a “Nazi regime,” using this rhetoric as justification for the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths.

South African woman who allegedly m8rdered her disabled daughter’s r@pist has been cleared of all charges.

A 44-year-old South African woman who allegedly m8rdered her disabled daughter’s r@pist, has been cleared of all charges.

The Eastern Cape woman made a brief appearance in the Lady Frere Magistrate’s Court in the Emalahleni Local Municipality on Monday, May 5, 2025.

LIB reported that she was arrested after the incident which occurred early last month in Cacadu, and was later released on R500 bail.

Eastern Cape Premier, Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, who attended the court proceedings alongside Social Development MEC Bukiwe Fanta, welcomed the National Prosecuting Authority’s decision.

“While we acknowledge the independence of the judiciary and respect the legal processes that were followed, we commend the NPA for its sensitivity and careful consideration of the extreme circumstances that led to this tragic incident,” said Premier Mabuyane.

“This decision reflects a compassionate understanding of the context and the instinctive protective actions taken by a mother in a moment of unimaginable trauma.”

The Premier described the matter as one that “has resonated deeply across the province and the nation, touching a collective nerve and highlighting the immense emotional and psychological toll that gender-based violence continues to inflict on families and communities.”

He emphasized that no parent should ever be forced into a position where they must physically intervene to protect their child from harm

“We must ensure that our communities are safe places where children can grow without fear and where women are protected and supported. No one must live in fear in their own home,” Mabuyane said.

“This is a call to all sectors, government, civil society, traditional leaders, and especially men in our communities, to take active responsibility in ending gender-based violence.”

The provincial government also pledged to continue providing support services to survivors of gender-based violence and their families, including trauma counseling and access to social welfare programmes through the Department of Social Development and its partners.

federal judge has ordered Trump administration to admit 12,000 refugees into the United State

A federal judge on Monday, May 5 ordered the Trump administration to admit approximately 12,000 refugees into the United States, delivering a legal setback to its broader efforts to reshape American immigration policy.

The ruling clarifies a previous appeals court decision that allowed the administration to temporarily suspend the refugee admissions program, but required that individuals already granted refugee status and approved for travel to the U.S. be admitted.

During a recent court hearing, the administration argued it was only obligated to admit 160 refugees who were scheduled to arrive within two weeks of the January executive order that halted the refugee system. But U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead firmly rejected that interpretation.

“The government’s interpretation is, to put it mildly, ‘interpretive jiggery-pokery’ of the highest order,” Judge Whitehead wrote in his decision. “It requires not just reading between the lines, but hallucinating new text that simply is not there.”

Whitehead had initially blocked the executive order in February, finding it likely violated the 1980 Refugee Act. However, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned his ruling in March, allowing the suspension of the program — with certain exceptions.

“Had the Ninth Circuit intended to impose a two-week limitation — one that would reduce the protected population from about 12,000 to 160 individuals — it would have done so explicitly,” Whitehead said in Monday’s ruling. “This Court will not entertain the government’s result-oriented rewriting of a judicial order that clearly says what it says.”

The lawsuit was filed by several refugee resettlement organizations, including HIAS (a Jewish nonprofit), Church World Service, and Lutheran Community Services Northwest, along with a number of individual plaintiffs. They argued that many refugees had sold their possessions and prepared for travel, only to be left stranded by the administration’s order.

Refugee resettlement has traditionally been one of the few legal pathways to U.S. citizenship and was expanded under former President Joe Biden to include individuals affected by climate change. Trump, by contrast, has advocated for sharp reductions in immigration and has overseen high-profile deportation operations, including military-led repatriation flights to Latin America.

This latest ruling could reopen the door for thousands of displaced individuals to continue their journeys to the United States.

Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid have reportedly agreed on the terms of his exit.

Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid have reportedly agreed on the terms of his exit.

The Italian’s future at the club is coming to an end, with Xabi Alonso having long been touted as his successor.

He was linked with the vacant Brazil job but has since reportedly turned down the offer to lead them into the 2026 World Cup.

According to fresh reports from The Athletic, an agreement is said to now be in place that will see the 65-year-old leave the Santiago Bernabéu at the end of the season, potentially as soon as in the wake of Sunday’s El Clásico clash with Barcelona.

Per the report, ‘Conversations have been ongoing with Madrid over the details of his exit, which was largely dependent on reaching an agreement over his salary for the remaining year of his contract.’

Real Madrid will now look to who they can fill his shoes in the aftermath, with The Athletic citing Xabi Alonso, Raul Gonzalez, and Alvaro Arbeloa as possible replacements.

Madrid will still have to pay Ancelotti for next year as his contract only expires in 2026, and that has factored into the delay over negotiations.

Ancelotti is believed to be considering a huge offer to manage in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi contract would reportedly see Ancelotti earn €50m net (£42m), which could be difficult for him to turn down.

Ancelotti, 65, has faced pressure this season despite being one of the most decorated managers ever and bringing immense success to the Santiago Bernabeu.

In two stints managing the Spanish giants, he has won 15 trophies, including three Champions League titles and two La Liga titles.

Dear Fashion, Your own Teammates betrayed you and not Mr Kamanga

By Chomba Kaoma

Dear Fashion Sakala

Personally I am your biggest fan and I always wish you the very best but I beg to differ when you say Andrew Kamanga betrayed you. My brother I was with him when you called to complain about the voice notes you received from coach Grant.

As a Parent Mr Kamanga was equally offended and emotionally charged when he listened to the voice notes and true to his words he promised to address the issue with the coach as i parted ways with him, I was so curious to know the outcome of the engagement.

The following day Mr Kamanga approached the coach but the response he got was shocking the coach actually tagged in some national team players who complained about Fashion Sakala’s conduct and language towards some of his Team mates and how he allegedly makes fun of the goals one his Teammates scores.

At that point Andrew Kamanga’s defense and sympathy for sakala was shattered, the problem was above Administration but personal and a matter of egos. Truth of the matter is that Kamanga sympathized with Fashion but after some teammates also chipped in it became a complete different issue.

Dear Fashion, Your own Teammates betrayed you and not Mr Kamanga, Mr Kamanga has always been on your side. You are a Zambian and this country is your Home!!

Project 2026 and Beyond; We will NOT rely on Foreign and IMF loans but will primarily mobilise domestic resources

Today, President Hakainde Hichilema met and held talks with a delegation the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Nigel Clarke.

Zambia is seeking another IMF bail-out of $1.5billion. This is an extension to the earlier 38month Extended Credit Facility of $1.3billion (increased to $1.7billion).

Under Project 2026 and Beyond, the revolutionary plan proposes to raise domestic resources to run and develop the country

Not every country needs IMF support and its predatory loans.

The IMF purports to provide financial assistance and technical advice to member countries facing economic difficulties. Countries facing balance of payments problems, severe capital outflows, or other financial crises may request IMF support, while others with stable economies and sound financial policies may not need it.

Project 2026, a plan, not for the next elections, but for generations. Looking beyond the horizon of the next election.

PF LEADERS SHOULD SHOW DIGNITY, NOT DELUSION

From our inbox;

PF LEADERS SHOULD SHOW DIGNITY, NOT DELUSION

In recent months, some Patriotic Front (PF) leaders have been shamelessly touting “Project 2026 and beyond,” painting themselves as Zambia’s saviours-in-waiting. It is both laughable and tragic, laughable because it ignores the reasons Zambians overwhelmingly rejected them in 2021, tragic because their ambition is untethered from introspection, humility, and most importantly, the reality of their record.

Let us be clear: the PF had their time. And what did they do with it? They overborrowed, mismanaged the economy, presided over corruption scandals, and eroded public trust in democratic institutions, yet now, in opposition, these very individuals are suddenly overflowing with ideas and solutions they never implemented when they had the instruments of power firmly in their hands.

It is nothing short of hypocrisy to advocate reforms today that they stubbornly ignored when it mattered most, now that they are on the outside looking in, they preach economic prudence, institutional reform, and national unity. But these are changes that should have defined their governance, not their opposition rhetoric.

This isn’t just about political rivalry, it’s about national memory, Zambians have not forgotten the arrogance, the violence, the intimidation of critics, and the blatant abuse of state resources. To believe that PF leaders can rebrand themselves as a credible alternative is to insult the intelligence of the electorate. If given another chance, they would only take Zambia back to the edge of the cliff they once led us to.

There is a virtue in knowing when your season has passed, PF leaders should now exhibit dignity, not delusion. Their role in this chapter of Zambia’s story should be to commend what is working under the UPND government and offer constructive, issue-based critique where necessary. That is how a mature opposition behaves, that is how a party begins the long road to redemption, not through grand declarations of comebacks, but through humility and honest service to the people’s interest.

As Zambia charts a new course, PF leaders would do well to stop speaking of “Project 2026” and start embracing “Project Integrity.” Their time is done, let them not waste what little credibility they have left.

Criminalizing Speech

…why the jailing of Elias Musyani and others is totally wrong and undemocratic…

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba writes…

In a Democracy cases of defamation and insults are handled and determined as a civil matter restricted to financial penalties.

Criminal defamation laws currently being used in Zambia are archaic and impede on fundamental rights and freedom of speech.

Under the law, a person who has been defamed, insulted or their character  injured can seek damages from the perpetrator in a civil court. The Zambia Police must have no role.

The goal of defamation law is to bring balance to those wronged and never to criminalize speech.

Under Project 2026 and Beyond, we will repeal all archaic and “insult” laws such as criminal defamation, sedition and we will remove from cyber crimes and cyber security laws, provision and offences of speech.

VIDEO: I won’t apologize to play for the national team unless Mr Kamanga apologize – Fashion Sakala

“I won’t apologize to play for the national team unless Mr Kamanga apologize to the coach and me being there I will apologize.”
Fashion Sakala

STRIKER Fashion Sakala says he feels betrayed by Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga, accusing him of orchestrating his national team exile while failing to address real issues facing the national team.

Sakala has not played for the national team since January 21 last year. His omission came after he publicly criticized coach Avram Grant for favouring players that are under the agency of Israeli Player Agent Nir Karin.

Earlier today, Kamanga hinted that Sakala still has a chance to play for the national team, but his teammates demanded he make peace with them after he questioned them in a leaked audio.

However, Kamanga’s comments seem to have angered the Al Fayha striker, who has taken to social media, opening a can of worms against the FAZ boss in a 54 – minute long video.

Sakala has branded Kamanga as a dishonest man who guided him into rudely responding to voice notes sent to him by Grant.

“Grant sent me an audio saying, how I have been lazy, telling me I don’t work hard and that he wants to work with players who work with passion…and things like that, he was telling me he will leave me.

“The first thing that I did, I didn’t respond to Grant. The first thing that I did was to call mister Kamanga…so mister Kamanga, who started telling me how I should respond to Grant,” Sakala alleged.

Sakala alleged that Kamanga instructed him to respond harshly to Grant and that the coach would do nothing to him as he was on the verge of being fired from the Chipolopolo job.

Sakala says he feels betrayed by Kamanga because the FAZ boss has continued to issue interviews on the matter in a manner that is painting the player black.

“I have never said a word about this or anything. But he’s still going on with the interviews. He’s still doing the interviews. Today, I woke up at five, you know, he did another interview,” Sakala said.

Meanwhile, Sakala has refused to apologize until Kamanga issues an apology first.

“Mister Kamanga should be the first one to apologize to the coach. And me being there, I will apologize too. To those who expect me to apologize, I’m not going to do that,” he said.

BETRAYED OR BRAVE?Inside Fashion Sakala’s Explosive Claim That Former FAZ President Kamanga Engineered His Fallout with Coach Grant

BETRAYED OR BRAVE?

Inside Fashion Sakala’s Explosive Claim That Former FAZ President Kamanga Engineered His Fallout with Coach Grant

By John Musengule Palata | Investigative Sports Correspondent | May 6, 2025

In a dramatic turn that has sent shockwaves across Zambia’s football circles, sidelined Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala Jr has publicly claimed that his infamous fallout with national team coach Avram Grant was not only known by former FAZ President Andrew Kamanga, but also allegedly scripted by him.

Speaking during a live Facebook session from Saudi Arabia, the outspoken forward said Kamanga advised him on how to respond to voice notes and messages that Sakala described as “disrespectful” from the coach. He insisted that the language he used — which led to his exclusion from the national team — was part of a response “planned and accepted” between himself and the FAZ leader at the time.

> “I won’t apologise to play for the national team unless Mr. Kamanga apologises to the coach,” Sakala declared. “If he does that, and I’m called back, I will apologise too.”

A few months prior, an audio conversation between Sakala and FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala leaked to the public. In it, Sakala claimed that a certain agent had been pressuring Chipolopolo players to join his agency, threatening that those who refused would never be selected for the national team. The claims sparked debate but were never publicly addressed in detail by FAZ.

Now, Sakala has gone further, describing Kamanga as “not an honest man” and accusing the former FAZ boss of “duping” him. He also took a principled stand against alleged pay-to-play or agent-linked selection politics in national team call-ups:

> “No player should pay to play for the national team,” he said. “If all I wanted was to play, I would have apologised. Simple.”

Despite the bitterness, Sakala struck a patriotic tone:

> “What matters most is to see Zambia qualify for the World Cup, not for me to just be in the squad,” he said.

The Road Ahead:

As the current FAZ administration seeks to rebuild confidence in the Chipolopolo setup, Sakala’s claims may prompt deeper scrutiny into how top football decisions were handled during the Kamanga era.

Whether this leads to formal investigations or quiet reconciliation remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — Fashion Sakala Jr. has reopened a conversation Zambian football can no longer ignore.

IT IS AN ISSUE OF EGOS – Kamanga explains Fashion Sakala’s situation

IT IS AN ISSUE OF EGOS – Kamanga explains Fashion Sakala’s situation

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says the absence of striker Fashion Sakala from the Chipolopolo is not so much an administration issue but that of team management.

Kamanga explained that whereas FAZ initially thought Fashion’s absence was due to estranged relationship with coach Avram Grant, the Saudi Arabia-based forward also has strained his connections with key teammates in the national team.

Below is what Kamanga said during this morning’s Hot Seat programme.

“We took a decision as an executive that we should open an inquiry because the information came out in public domain. Unfortunately, those who were expected to participate in the inquiry, including Fashion himself, did not participate.”

“Behind the scenes, attempts were made to get the two parties to resolve their issues, which I am happy to report they got to a point where they were more (or) less resolved. But unfortunately, there was another angle to it which is even a bigger a challenge. Initially, we were convinced the matter was between the coach and the player…”

“Between the coach and the player, there was almost agreement in terms of resolving the issue but then it turned out that in fact, the issues which had been raised even touched on the fellow players. So, the fellow players also have a position where they expect that their colleague is going to go back to them and make peace with them.”

“…for instance, comments were made (by Fashion) that some of the players who are given attention are those who just score tap-ins and it didn’t sit well with the rest of the team because football is a team sport.”

“So, if you say something about your colleagues, they also (feel) injured. So, this is the dynamic that now needs to be resolved. It’s not just the player and the coach; it’s now the player (Fashion) and the rest of the players. The expectations from the players; they are saying at least he (Fashion) needs to make peace with them.”

“We want to facilitate that engagement between the player and the players so that the matter is resolved. With the coach, we are almost concluded, so, there is only that element which is remaining… this is where the issue of egos is coming.”

“If he feels he owes the friends nothing, then unfortunately, we cannot be seen to be resolving. It is almost the case of ‘if the guy walks in, the rest walk out! From the outside, it looks very simple but from the inside, it is a case of persuading everyone to drop their position and get a win-win position for everyone.”

THE UPND HAVE DESTROYED THE COUNTRY – KALABA

THE UPND HAVE DESTROYED THE COUNTRY – KALABA

… Says Zambians have been subjected to untold suffering and misery.

KABWE, TUESDAY, MAY6, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)

Citizens’ First president Harry Kalaba says the UPND should pave way for serious leadership in 2026 because their four years in power has yielded nothing.

Speaking in Kabwe today when he featured on KNC radio program, Mr. Kalaba said the UPND government has clearly failed and have destroyed the country by subjecting Zambians to untold suffering and misery.

He said it is sad that today Zambians can’t afford to have a decent meal and some are finding solace in funerals.

“The UPND have failed, they have destroyed the country. Zambians are suffering and they don’t know where their next meal will come from. Some people are finding solace in funerals in order for them to have a meal, what type of a country is this,” Mr. Kalaba said.

“UPND should stop wasting our time and pave way for serious leadership in 2026. They have been in power for four years and it has been fours of doing nothing. President Michael Sata in two years transformed this country. He built the new Kenneth Kaunda International airport, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International airport, brought the Link Zambia 2000 among other significant projects that uplifted the country but for UPND there is nothing to point at,” the CF leader said.

And Mr.Kalaba said change in 2026 is inevitable and the UPND should brace themselves for humiliating defeat adding that his vast experience in the civil service make him the best man for the top job.

“I will be President. I have experience in the civil service, I served as Cabinet Minister for eight years and so I am more than able and the right man for job. People should stop these falsehoods of saying I am too young to lead this country, those who claim to be old have failed to run this country,”

UPND remains confident of victory in 2026

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has charged that the Patriotic Front (PF) will lose again in the 2026 general elections due to its failure to understand the reasons behind its 2021 defeat.

Speaking at a media briefing yesterday, UPND media director Mark Simuwe said the opposition is wasting time believing they can unseat President Hakainde Hichilema, as they have no credible candidate to challenge him.

“We are not worried by Miles Sampa’s endorsement of former president Edgar Lungu, who lost by over one million votes during the last elections, because we know he will lose again,” Mr Simuwe said.

He added that UPND remains confident of victory in 2026, owing to the government’s efforts in addressing the needs of the youth, who constituted the majority of voters in the previous election.

“We have done a lot for the youths, especially in promoting self-reliance through skills training and empowerment programmes,” Mr Simuwe said.

He advised opposition parties rallying behind Mr Lungu to stop wasting their time, saying the former president’s time to lead the country had passed.

Last week, PF faction leader Miles Sampa officially endorsed Mr Lungu as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2026 general election.

Mr Sampa announced he was stepping aside to allow Mr Lungu to lead, noting that the party was now unified under his leadership.

ZAMBIA WON’T BE SAVED BY A ‘MR FIX IT’ – M’MEMBE

ZAMBIA WON’T BE SAVED BY A ‘MR FIX IT’ – M’MEMBE

Lusaka… Tuesday May 6, 2025 – In a statement issued earlier today, Dr. Fred M’membe, President of the Socialist Party, has urged Zambians across the country to reject the notion of political salvation through a single leader and instead embrace a collective path toward national transformation.

Dr. M’membe reminded citizens—from both urban centers and

rural communities—that the future of Zambia could not be secured by a lone political figure or a so-called “Mr Fix It.”

He emphasized that the country’s current challenges, which he attributed to the misrule of the UPND, were deeply rooted in systemic injustice, poverty, and inequality, and were therefore too complex to be addressed by any one individual.

He called for what he described as “collective genius,” stressing that true and lasting change would only emerge from the concerted efforts of ordinary citizens.

According to Dr. M’membe, the transformation of Zambia would require the active involvement of a united opposition, the labour movement, student unions, traditional leaders, and the church.

With the 2026 general elections on the horizon, Dr. M’membe urged Zambians to turn away from “the politics of personality cults” and to instead commit to principles of unity, accountability, and mass participation.

He called on citizens to rise with “clarity and purpose,” insisting that the power to change Zambia lay within the people themselves.

He concluded his message with a call for solidarity and collective resolve, reiterating his party’s commitment to building a just, humane, and democratic Zambia.

He wrote:

As we greet a new day, I wish to remind every Zambian—young and old, in the cities and in the villages—that the future of our great nation will not be redeemed by a single political genius or so-called “Mr Fix It.”

The challenges we face today under the misrule of the UPND are far too complex, far too rooted in injustice, poverty, and inequality to be solved by one person alone.

True and lasting change will come not from above, but from among us—from collective genius.

It will take the strength and wisdom of ordinary citizens, the courage of a united opposition, the voices of the labour movement and student unions, the moral leadership of our traditional leaders and the church.

Together, in solidarity, we can lay the foundation for a just, humane, and truly democratic Zambia.

As we prepare for the 2026 general elections, let us reject the politics of personality cults and embrace the politics of unity, accountability, and mass participation. We must stand as one—resolute, organised, and guided by principle.

Let us rise today with clarity and purpose, knowing that the power to change Zambia lies in all of us. Good morning!

In solidarity,

Fred M’membe

Economic Growth Can Only be Seen by Economists- UPND

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Hichilema’s Economic Growth Can Only be Seen by Economists!

This is their useless economic growth with no impact on the lives of people!! Their growth rate can only be seen or imagined by economists!

Under Project 2026 and Beyond, Zambia will become a middle income country with a target to be one of the top five economies in Africa after South Africa, Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria.

Poverty levels will be reduced from 64.3% to under 20% in a period of five years.

Further the divide between rural and urban poverty will be significantly reduced as rural centres will become places of heightened economic and industrial activities such as agro-processing and commercial fish farming.

Chabinga Has Put The  Lives of Majority Ordinary Zambians into Danger- Miles Sampa

06.05.2025

Chabinga Has Put The  Lives of Majority Ordinary Zambians into Danger.

It was a few months ago that the USA under President Trump disbanded USAID to Zambia and many other Countries of Africa.

Their Aid to Zambia was mostly in the health and agricultural sector estimated to around $360M per year. This had already been factored into the budget for 2025 for medicines and other health services into our hospitals countrywide. Over $100M under the Millenium compact agreement was to be a grant to help our commercial and small scale farmers food production and easy access to the market.

The obvious option for the UPND government was to approach and convince other cooperating partners represented in Zambia via embassies to fill in the budgetary financial gap left by USAID. This included likes of UK’s DFID, Japan’s JICA, Sweden, Germany, China, Norway, Finland etc that already were participating in annual budget support to Zambia would have been easy to convince them to allocate more funds.

Then here comes the Mafinga MP Robert Chabinga screaming loud warning the High Commissioners and Ambassadors in Zambia to ‘behave’ and not engage with the opposition and essentially asking President HH to deport them back to their Countries. Now there is a saying in the Bemba language that ..”chimbwi pakulila, ninshi naishiba eko ashintilile amatako “ (for a normally coward hyena to sound confident strutting towards lions, it means it knows it has a huge elephant backing behind its back).

Chabinga ‘dines and wines’ with President HH and his State House assistants especially Levy Ngoma whose sole life agenda seems it is only to obliterate the PF. He hates the PF with a passion guess for kicking out his original MMD party out of government in 2011 and for personally twice losing under the UPND to a PF candidate for the Sinda constituency seat of the Eastern province in 2016 and 2021. He therefore has a big personal bone to chew with the PF and wants it dead by any means necessary even if that means breaking laws or Court rulings  that can haunt him one day.

In the meantime Levy (& PHH) have found Chabinga as a useful ‘chakuti’ on that trajectory by illegally and against court orders masquerading him as a PF acting President when there is no such position of ‘acting’ President in the PF constitution. Being a rookie and first time MP with zero previous electable leadership positions, Chabinga has zero boundaries in what he says to please Levy Ngoma and HH. They are his pay masters whenever he holds a press conference to parrot something against the former President Edgar Lungu, the PF, Miles Sampa and others. In the process also breaks the new cyber laws but never arrested. He seems to have also acquired presidential immunity from police arrests.

This time around he went a notch too far and literary threatened to deport the diplomats in Zambia for engaging the opposition. He is probably too raw in politics to remember that even when the UPND were in Oppostion, the Ambassadors  based in Lusaka were publicly or privately engaging the then Oppostion leader HH and the UPND.

Embassies conversant with both ruling parties and opposition so they get informed opinion to report to their capitals or Presidents on the governance of the Country called Zambia. This so that their aid is tied to good governance amongst other yardsticks. Even when the UPND leaves Power (in 2026), these same diplomats Chabinga is insulting will reach out to them as the opposition (after 2026) for their views on various matters of national and public interest.

Chabinga’s comments have obviously raffled feathers of all the local embassies that were considering to fill the government financial gap created by the USAID.

As he is always found in the entourage of President HH on his various trips countrywide and paraded to proclaim false declarations like the PF has endorsed HH for 2026 when not, the diplomats would not be out of order to take it that Chabinga’s ranting against them had the blessing of the President or Statehouse (Levy Ngoma).

Given I have mentioned Levy; he will today fund mercenary rogue blogs to defame me or even call the IG to arrest me. Lol & not that I care panotwafika. To every Presidency, there are good and bad Statehouse advisors that end up leading a President to lose power. Levy is the current that lethal and inhuman bad advisor. We Stand for nothing but the truth.

The PF expelled MP Robert Chabinga is out of order and has put the lives of many Zambians in danger because the anticipated financial support for health or agriculture from the various Western and Eastern world Embassies in Lusaka may now not come through. Chabinga is not only a danger to himself but to PHH and to the lives of Zambians at large.

STATE APPEALS AGAINST LUBINDA ACQUITTAL

STATE APPEALS AGAINST LUBINDA ACQUITTAL

The State has filed a notice of appeal in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court against the acquittal of Patriotic Front (PF) acting president Given Lubinda in a case he was accused of possessing properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

On April 8, 2024, Lusaka magistrate Faides Hamaundu acquitted Mr Lubinda, saying the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against him.

Magistrate Hamaundu ruled that the prosecution merely showed that Mr Lubinda owns the properties in question and failed to link them to proceeds of crime.

The prosecution team has now appealed to the High Court, arguing that the magistrate misdirected herself in law and fact when she acquitted the opposition leader.

The notice of appeal was filed in the Lusaka High Court on April 29, 2025.-

YO MAPS SPEAKS ON LOSING PARENTS, BEING ADOPTED, MEETING KANDEKE, MWIZUKANJI, KIDIST, EDUCATION AND MORE

YO MAPS SPEAKS ON LOSING PARENTS, BEING ADOPTED, MEETING KANDEKE, MWIZUKANJI, KIDIST, EDUCATION AND MORE

PLEASE NOTE: This article is an adaptation from YO MAPS’ interview with Kenny Tonga on Kenny T 1 ON 1 podcast, episode fifteen(15).

The interview which was shot in Livingstone during the Mosi Day of Thunder started with Kenny T asking Yo Maps how his anniversary with his wife Kidist Kifle in Dubai was as the two were celebrating five years together(three of those in marriage) to which he responded saying it went well. He added, saying they didn’t go with their daughter Tendai because they wanted time for themselves with no distractions.

YO MAPS’ EARLY CAREER DAYS

“I didn’t see myself like who I am today. For me, it was like I will become famous. I never thought like making money and all those stuff because efyo nakwete yalifye ni passion,” Yo Maps responded to Kenny T as he stated that he wanted to be famous but did not imagine it would be it is now as he also wonders how he reached at this the stage he is. He further sent all praise to God for his artistic abilities.

WHERE WAS YO MAPS BORN?

Kenny T asked Yo Maps where he was born as there are multiple speculations of the artist being born and raised in Kabwe.

The singer responded, saying he was born in Kasama, and later on, he moved to Lusaka with only his mother, who would later die, leaving young Elton Mulenga double orphaned. Yo Maps, who did not share proper timelines of these events, revealed that he had not seen his biological father because he had died seemingly whilst he was still very young.

YO MAPS ON GETTING ADOPTED

After his mother’s death, Yo Maps and his only sister where at a crossroads as family members scrambled for the sister who would relocate back in Kasama with an uncle leaving Yo Maps rejected as the relatives felt they had enough boys and couldn’t take one more.

Yo Maps would become a nomad, moving from one house to another just to eat. The singer would not see his sister until 19 years later further revealing that at the request of his adopting parents when he started making money, he took her to study nursing at Lusaka Apex Medical University and is currently working.

The singer would later find himself in Chiyuni at his cousin’s in-laws’ place. At this point, Yo Maps had started a mini business of putting songs in memory cards. He further added that it was during this period that he started making beats on a computer outside the family shop in the village.

The singer’s troubles were far from over as the farm he was staying at was part of a property dispute as the owner had died. Hence, they were, from time to time, told to vacate the premises.

“That’s how he took me from Chiyuni. Took me to Chibombo, and I started living with them. He introduced me to his wife, right now, she’s my mom(laughs). That’s how we started living together, from that time until today,” recounted Yo Maps on being saved from family wrangles by a stranger. “His name is Muyunda Mundia, I’m Elton Mulenga. He’s Lozi, I’m Bemba,” added the singer.

A man who would occasionally visit the shop Yo Maps was recording songs from a computer and a microphone while charging to put music in people’s memory cards would get acquainted to the young Elton Mulenga hence seeing it befitting to rescue him from the family troubles in Chiyuni and moved to Chibombo allowing Yo Maps to have a family.

The singer was easily accepted and integrated into the family – a kind and rare gesture the singer acknowledged.

The singer further added that there has been no one from his biological family that knew where he lived. For over 20 years that he lived under the care of Mr. Muyunda Mundia, no one bothered to check up on him.

He acknowledged that some of his biological relative cousins tried to manipulatively reach out to him as they were posting videos on Facebook claiming to be abandoned but the singer did not care as none of them were there for him when he needed them the most.

YO MAPS GOES BACK TO SCHOOL

Upon moving to a new place, Yo Maps would see his new brothers and sisters go to school whilst he remained home. As if picking him from a troubled home was not enough, his newly found father came through again as he approached young Elton Mulenga and asked, “Would you like to go back to school?”

The singer responded, ” Yeah, I would like to go back to school. The next(following)week, Monday, he was just like, let’s go. Twaya pa pa pa, namwene fye ama uniforms yaisa, shani, nsapato shani shani, and all those stuff. Efyo nalyambile na primary school.”

The singer would begin his nineth grade at Chibombo primary school. He further revealed that, his new parents were far from rich as his adopting father was a police officer living in a police tents sharing almost the same sleeping space as they were only separated by a mere curtain. “Right now, they are rich, I can’t lie to you, but that time they didn’t have money, ” he added.

YO MAPS DOES GOSPEL BUT UNDER ONE CONDITION

“I used to be a praise leader,” Yo Maps revealed, giving in to his parents’ disapproval of him doing secular music as his deacon father wanted him to be doing gospel. Yo Maps would accept under one condition of getting him a studio. “I’ll start doing gospel if you buy me a studio,”he told his father. Yo Maps would get his first studio, and so would his praise leader role in Bread of Life church in Chibombo.

Despite making the promise not to make secular music, Yo Maps would break it as the urge to make the genre was stronger, hence making his first local hit song titled, “Njikata Kuboko.”

Its success in the local town was so huge as everyone at Chibombo High School liked it, resulting in his mother noticing and inquiring, asking his father, “But this voice imveka kwati mwana wenu uyu.”

Yo Maps would come clean, admitting to owning the song to which his father would respond, “Okay, it’s a nice song, you are not insulting.” It was a turning point for the singer, a tragectory that would lead him becoming the biggest Zambian artist.

HOW DID YO MAPS MEET KANDEKE?

Yo Maps told Kenny T after he inquired about how he met DJ Kandeke that the two met at a function where he was performing.

Yo Maps was in 11th grade while Kandeke was in 10th grade at a different school. After his performance, Kandeke approached him and complimented him for singing so well and told him that he would like them to work together, to which he accepted and they exchanged numbers.

After graduating high school, Yo Maps would request his parents for a year to pursue his love “music” and if he failed, he would return and pursue a traditional career by going to college like his mother wanted. His request would be granted. From there, he would leave for Kabwe, where he and Kandeke would start working together.

“If I remember correctly, I think he was fired because of me,” Yo Maps recounted how Kandeke played his music back to back at KNC radio station in Kabwe resulting in his dismissal as a DJ.

The two would then start globetrotting the streets of Kabwe, Makululu, giving their songs door to door and to people with computers who distributed music at the time. “Umfweni ko neyi,” they’d offer their music for free, hoping to be heard.

Yo Maps went on to highlight more on his early musical struggles as him and Kandeke would move long distances in the night from Luangwa to a club called Tall Trees, where most big artists usually came to perform. The two would pay the DJ a 50 Kwacha only to perform the chorus.

At the time of meeting DJ Kandeke, Yo Maps, who had no relatives in Kabwe, was staying in a servant’s quarter at T Gear’s place. The two would get evicted after they had a misunderstanding with T Gear over pocketing money, which ISHIWI paid for Yo Maps’ performance without their knowledge. T Gear would then start removing studio equipment and other stuff one by one until they noticed that they were no longer welcome.

Left with no other choice, the two were set to go back to their parent’s places, but grace would be at their exit door as Yo Maps received a contract from Pollywood Records. Peplexed, the singer requested that Kandeke be signed as well, but Terry, who offered the contract, asked in what capacity they would be signing Kandeke.

“Teti mu saine fye ine, mufwile mu saine na Kandeke,” he responded. He would then say that he should be signed as his manager, and that was the beginning of Kandeke’s managerial position.

The two would get signed and move to Pollywood Records’s residence, for once after leaving Chibombo – the singer had it easy. The only thing they had to worry about was making music as everything was provided for them. But things would soon change after the owner of the label got married and told them he couldn’t take care of two homes and that they would need to fend for themselves.

After struggling to keep up with the bills, the four occupants would fail to pay 1,500 Kwacha house rent which resulted in Kandeke and Yo Maps moving to a 550 Kwacha house rent in Railways compound, the house with the famous for the “Mulishani mwe bapa Facebook” video.

YO MAPS MEETS MACKY 2

Whilst living in Railways compound, Kandeke would hear Macky 2 mention Yo Maps’ name on stage while performing in Lusaka. Yo Maps did not believe Kandeke until he saw a post on his page saying, “Yo Maps is the next big thing.”

Excited, the singer then looked for his number, called him, and wasted no time in requesting for a verse just after introducing himself. The rapper gave him a green light and told him to come to Lusaka two days after the call.

Yo Maps would ask transport money from his father and with Kandeke, they made the journey to Lusaka to meet Macky 2 who had already recorded his verse on the two songs he was given to choose from two days earlier.

Macky 2 would pick them up, take them to his house, and give them food. After giving them the song, they journeyed back to Kabwe, where they mastered the song ‘finally’, which would go viral within two days of release. “I saw Hellen talking about the song ku ZNBC, I was like, wow!” said the singer on its viral spread.

YO MAPS STARTS TO MAKE MONEY AFTER “FINALLY” BLEW

“I remember one day, there was a lady who called us, and she was like, how much do you charge to perform? Back then, we didn’t know how much we should charge. So I was like boi, baleipusha ati how much we should charge. Kandeke aisa landa ati boi bebe 4 pin, eshako 4 pin. I was like four thousand, then she was like, cool, it’s fine,” recounted Yo Maps on getting his first gig after the release of Finally.

The two would travel to Ndola and deliver such a spectacular performance that they were given an extra two thousand Kwacha. “Next call, I think yalefuma ku Lusaka, they wanted us to perform ku wedding and that’s how we started changing. Boi bebeko 6 pin apa tumone(Kandeke saying).” The event organiser would accept, and the two would start investing some of the money in their brand – the more they invested, the higher the booking fee got.

“Takwaliba place iyashupa ukuchita promote music niku Lusaka because nga wa kumanya oyu, alya mo ka something,” reflected the singer on some of the challenges he faced as he moved to Lusaka to promote his music. The singer further added that a DJ on ZNBC’s Smooth Talk refused to play Finally because he felt it was too slow despite him being an invited guest on the show.

YO MAPS’ SECOND BIG SONG “SEASON YANGA”

Kenny T went ahead and asked the singer what his next big song was after Finally to which the singer responded, “After Finally, we dropped Kaleza, Osanisiya, all those, they were not big like Finally but Season Yanga yaisa chita kwati ya beating’a ko Finally panono.”

The release of Season Yanga saw Yo Maps being invited by former republican president Edgar Lungu to perform at an Annual Ball in Chamba Valley. They started making money, and with Kandeke, they then moved to a 2,000 Kwacha rent worth house in Chowa compound, an upgrade from where they lived.

YO MAPS GETS FIRST CAR

As money continued to come in, Yo Maps purchased his first car, a second hand Noah worth 9,000 Kwacha. The singer went ahead and narated the troubles he went through due to his vehicle, which would go off on its own due to battery issues. The singer said at one point he was invited to perform in Kabwe by the former president Edgar Lungu. He and Kandeke set off to the venue and parked on the president’s parking spot.

Unfortunately, it was a rainy day when they were called to move their vehicle, which couldn’t start due to its battery issues. Kandeke would push whilst Yo Maps stirred the car.

By the time they were done, the two were soaked but still went back to perform. Yo Maps would later buy two more cars, of which one included the famous blue jaguar.

YO MAPS AND KANDEKE’S RELATIONSHIP, ANY WRANGLES?

Kenny T then took the opportunity to ask the top Zambian artist about his relationship with Kandeke to find out whether they had misunderstandings, to which the superstar responded, “We debate sometimes, but tatwa pusana po.”

He continued, “Sometimes he comes up with an idea like, oh bro, I want us to do this and this. I’m like, ah no no no, this won’t work… (makes argument noises of Kandeke defending his idea).”

Responding to a question on who is soft and tough between them, the singer said his manager is a businessman. “To him, music is like any other business. I understand that music is business, but to him, he’s like, no man, if they are not paying us, if we are not going to get this, forget about it. Sometimes me I would want to do it for free because I have a relationship with those people but him he’s just like no. When it comes to business, takwaba relationship.”

YO MAPS MEETING MWIZUKANJI

When Kenny T asked about when the superstar met Mwizukanji, he responded, “Fyambile mu 2019, fyapwa mu 2019.”

The singer dismissed Kenny T’s assertion that he left her because he became famous by stating that, at that point, he was doing better than her. “In fact, that time I was doing even better than her. Because she was living with her brother the time everything started then after that she started living with me, you know, because she was pregnant for me,” said the singer highlighting his efforts to keep her closer at a crucial time she was carrying his first born child Bukata.

When asked why they broke up, Yo Maps was hesitant to explain why but refuted being the one responsible for the break up. “No, it wasn’t me but for the respect I have for her and her family, I wouldn’t want to go into details,” the singer exculpated himself further avoiding to say more on the topic.

Did she play any role in your music? Kenny T asked as Yo Maps responded bluntly with a NO.

YO MAPS ON MEETING HIS WIFE KIDIST KIFLE

The superstar narrated to Kenny T how he met Kidist Kifle at a time he was emotionally stricken, abusing alcohol and living with Mr. Stash. The artist was stars struck at the sight of Kidist recounted seeing her with her mother by Lewanika mall where he and his colleagues had gone to fetch some groceries but couldn’t approach her siting, “He wasn’t that big yet.”

The singer further said that he would receive an instagram notification the following day from Kidist who had made a challenge video to his song “Refresh.” He would then slide in her inbox and tell her that he had seen her the previous day.

“From there, we link up(laughs), we linked up, you know, twakumana, twambo kulashana. That’s how everything started, ” he told Kenny T.

Kenny T then asked the singer how he made things official between them, to which he responded, “I did a song for her, but the song is not out.” Yo Maps further added that he took Kidist to the studio so that she could have an ear, and she liked the song. “Then I told her to say, me, I love you, I like you, and I want you to be my partner,” said the singer on his proposal to Kidist.

The two would talk about him having a child and being in relationships to which Kidist was satisfied with his response and voila! It’s now been 5 years of them being in a romantic relationship.

Kenny T, “Do you think she was your first love?”

Yo Maps, “Hmm, yeah, I’ve never loved someone in my life like her. I’ve fought so many battles for her, you know, and she has fought so many battles for me, you know. And for me that ilampelafye kuba ati sha chitapo filya ku mwanakashi uli onse.”

The singer strongly suggested that he has never cared for a woman before like he does for Kidist Kifle – pointing out that he’d go to any length to protect his family. He responded to Kenny T, who asked if that is the reason he joins Facebook wrangles involving his wife by saying, “That’s my family, no one is going to fight for my family. Who is going to do it for me? If you come for my family I come for you, it is what it is.”

Yo Maps further alluded that there are things he can ignore as others just look for numbers, and some he can’t like the case of Elias Musyani. “Especially when it comes to my family, I don’t tolerate,” he reaffirmed.

YO MAPS ON FILL UP HEROS STADIUM

They then went on to talk about his fill-up Heros Stadium. The singer shared a back story on the genesis of the idea as he revealed that whilst on flight from shooting FATIMA music video, upon seeing Heros Stadium, Kandeke was struck with the idea to fill it up.

The two would approach Mr. Moka to share their idea and stakeholders would come on board to help them to realize their dream, which to many seemed like a delusion. “I think, ilya time e time napangile po indalama shakuba ati shashipanga po mu life,” Yo Maps revealed, making more money than he had ever made in his life.

Yo Maps took the opportunity to clarify on his Try Again album losing streams as he said it was due to change in ownership of the distribution company he uses. Therefore, things will be back to normal very soon.

The singer also shared that his Olios Records music label is 99% done and will soon be operational.

Yo Maps also shared that Kondwa and Nga Teba Yahweh are his personal favourites as they came from his heart.

TENDAI’S IMPACT ON YO MAPS’ LIFE

“Tendai is a happy person, like I’ve never seen her sad or complaining, she’s always happy, excited and she’s always around me,” Yo Maps described his daughter and their relationship. He further mentioned that her arrival brought joy in his life as he now has someone call him daddy when he gets home.

Besides being dedicated to his craft, Yo Maps also revealed that he is a very dedicated family man as he gives four days each week to being with his family and then Friday to Sunday is for work but sometimes rehearsals and studio sessions do come up during family days.

HOW MANY CARS DOES YO MAPS HAVE?

“Right now, I have eight,” said Yo Maps as he responded to Kenny T on how many cars he has. The singer said the reason he has so many cars is because he loves cars. The further added that at one point while driving himself to a show at Nipa in 2021, his car started smoking near central police, an embarrassing moment he vowed to never see happen again hence the reason why he has so many cars.

YO MAPS ON MUSIC MONETIZATION AND HOW MUCH HE MAKES FROM ROYALTIES

Responding to Kenny T on what monetization channels the singer uses and how others could learn from him, Yo Maps said there are different monetization companies but he uses Africori which pays without the need for him to claim the money.

“And to be honest with you, I think there’s money kuma royalties than shows. I made so much money kuma royalties than ama shows. I sold my Komando album at 80,000 dollars back then. Then, Try Again gave me about 125,000 dollars, and I make more than 20,000 dollars every after two months. So I make more money kuma royalties than ama shows,” said the singer on how much he makes from royalties alone.

Responding to Kenny T, the singer highlighted the mistake up and coming artist make. Three mistakes upcoming artists make accor

DIVISIONS IN THE MEDIA ARE VERY HEALTHY- MacPherson Mutale

DIVISIONS IN THE MEDIA ARE VERY HEALTHY.

By MacPherson Mutale

“In any thriving democracy, friction is not a sign of failure—it is evidence of growth. Zambia’s media landscape, though often seen as divided, is in fact a reflection of a society that is dynamic, pluralistic, and striving to define its identity in a complex political environment. The disagreements, differing views, and debates within the Zambian media fraternity are not a crisis; they are a sign of life. It is through such rigorous contestation of ideas that meaningful growth and reform emerge. Therefore, the call for statutory regulation of the media, though driven by understandable frustrations, poses a significant threat to the foundational freedoms that support democratic governance and open society.

The media, often referred to as the Fourth Estate, plays a critical role alongside the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary in shaping national discourse and ensuring accountability. Like the other arms of government, the media is not immune to differences of opinion, political leanings, or ideological divisions. In fact, just as lawyers may disagree on constitutional interpretations or legislators debate contentious bills, journalists too engage in rigorous debates over journalistic ethics, media regulation, and the future of the profession. These divisions are not signs of weakness, but rather essential characteristics of a healthy and vibrant democracy.

Zambia’s political environment itself is deeply pluralistic. Within Parliament, for example, representatives from divergent political parties are often seen debating passionately, protesting, and even clashing ideologically. Yet, they also find common ground through caucuses and committees for the sake of national progress. If this plurality is acceptable and even celebrated within our legislative system, it should be equally acceptable within our media environment. Journalists are not robots. They are citizens with opinions, feelings, and political inclinations. Expecting an entirely neutral media is not only unrealistic—it is a dangerous fallacy.

In countries like the United Kingdom and the United States, media polarization along ideological lines is both open and institutionalized. Media houses openly declare their political leanings and serve specific audiences. For example, CNN and FOX News offer starkly different narratives on the same issues. Yet this is not seen as a flaw. Rather, it reflects a mature understanding that objectivity in the strictest sense is an illusion. The notion of a perfectly impartial media has never been realized in practice, and attempting to force such neutrality through statutory means only leads to suppression and state control.

Media, by nature, mirrors the society in which it operates. A politically polarized and socio-economically diverse nation like Zambia cannot expect its media to be monolithic. The frustrations expressed by veteran journalists over declining ethical standards are legitimate. The industry indeed faces serious challenges, including the infiltration of untrained individuals and declining public trust. However, the solution is not to surrender regulatory powers to the state. Rather, the solution lies in enhancing self-regulatory mechanisms that reflect the profession’s internal commitment to reform and excellence.

Statutory regulation, such as the proposed Zambia Institute of Journalism (ZIJ), may appear attractive on the surface, especially to those concerned with restoring public trust. But it is a slippery slope. Once the state begins to regulate who can or cannot practice journalism, the door is opened to political manipulation and suppression of dissent. In a country where oversight institutions are weak and public media is already subject to political influence, giving the state additional control over private media is akin to handing over the entire media ecosystem to political whims.

The fears of misinformation and irresponsible journalism are valid. But these challenges are not unique to Zambia. They are global phenomena, exacerbated by the digital revolution. Anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection can now disseminate information to thousands. The traditional gatekeeping role of the media has been permanently disrupted. Attempting to control this reality through statutory laws is not only futile—it is counterproductive. Rather than shutting down digital voices or punishing media houses through legislation, the focus should be on building media literacy among citizens and encouraging responsible journalism through industry-led peer accountability.

Self-regulation is not the absence of order; it is regulation by the industry itself, built on shared standards, codes of conduct, and enforcement mechanisms. This model works best because it is built on the values and experiences of those who understand journalism intimately. Some media houses in Zambia have already taken steps toward this goal, forming self-regulatory bodies and working collaboratively to uphold professional standards. These efforts should be supported and strengthened, not undermined by premature calls for state control.

To allow the state to determine who qualifies as a journalist, what qualifies as news, or what opinions are acceptable is to cede fundamental rights. Freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of the press—these are not privileges granted by the state. They are inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution and reinforced by international law. Curtailing these rights under the guise of regulation sets a dangerous precedent that can be used to silence critics, suppress opposition, and control public discourse.

The real crisis is not the lack of statutory regulation but the failure to create an enabling environment for journalism to flourish. Government institutions often withhold information, delay responses, and shun transparency. In such a vacuum, speculation and misinformation thrive. The solution, therefore, lies in improving access to information, building trust between media and public institutions, and empowering journalists with tools, training, and support.

The media landscape has evolved, and Zambia must evolve with it. Any attempt to impose 20th-century regulatory frameworks on a 21st-century media environment is bound to fail. We must acknowledge that informal media setups are here to stay. Citizen journalists, bloggers, podcasters, and social media commentators are all part of the modern information ecosystem. Suppressing them through state-led licensing and regulation only fuels public resentment and digital resistance.

To those advocating for statutory regulation out of frustration or despair, your concerns are understood. But giving the state more power is not the solution. It is an invitation to censorship. Let us not allow fear to dictate our future. Let us, instead, build a strong, credible, and independent media sector that can hold power accountable while policing itself with integrity and resolve.

Zambia’s democracy is still young and fragile. We cannot afford to hand over our last line of defense—the media—to the same state that seeks to be scrutinized. Let us strengthen self-regulation, invest in journalism education, promote media ethics, and foster public trust through openness and professionalism. The state already controls enough. Let us not give it the other buttock, lest we soon find ourselves unable to sit at the table of democracy at all.”

KUTI WAPAPA MWE! THIS CHABINGA ISSUE OPENS UP NEW STANDARD BY UPND- Mutotwe Kafwaya

LUNTE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT HON. Mutotwe Kafwaya writes::::

KUTI WAPAPA MWE! THIS CHABINGA ISSUE OPENS UP NEW STANDARD BY UPND.

Today I read a statement which is said to have been  signed by Mulambo Haimbe; the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In this statement, Mulambo distances government from Chabingas position on diplomats. Which position Chabinga established during his presser. The position of government to distance itself from Chabinga foreign policy has confused me. My confusion is arising from a numbers of issues. Below I explain the source of my confusion;

In the statement, Mulambo recognizes Chabinga as the leader of opposition Patriotic Front. This now makes us clear about government position on PF and it’s leadership. Sadly this recognition comes at the back of a court decision which handed PF back to Miles Sampa.

Chabinga is in an alliance with UPND. He has endorsed HH for presidency in 2026. He is a close friend of the UPND. He speaks well for HH and his government to boost his chances of retaining the power to govern in 2026.

Why then has UPND distanced itself from Chabingas views? Could this imply that Chabinga is being applied conveniently? Why would Chabinga, a UPND alliance partner issue a policy statement on diplomats which is not cleared by the anchor alliance partner UPND? What is the level of discipline in the UPND alliance in that regard?

Why was Chabingas presser accorded state television ZNBC to broadcast his statement if his alliance partner UPND was not in agreement with it? Why has it taken so long for Chabingas alliance partners UPND government to distance itself from his statement? Has Chabingas view on diplomats became undesirable after the public outcry?

Let me just remind UPND that Chabinga contested 2021 elections on the Patriotic Front party. It therefore bothers me that UPND who have gone everywhere claiming that PF members are criminals can admit Chabinga into their alliance and indeed all those other MPs from PF who have since endorsed HH and have placed public support for HH and UPND.

Today the HH is calling loudly for dialogue with the opposition. Meanwhile the person they call leader of opposition PF is their friend. They have joined together in an alliance. Other opposition leaders such as Nevers Mumba and Wynter Kabimba have added to Milupi and Mutati in the alliance. The question then remains in my mind is, which opposition does HH want to dialogue with?

And perhaps what problems does HH want to solve with those opposition leaders which he and his current alliance partners have failed to solve?

I will stop here.

Restoring EVERYTHING PATRIOTIC.

“Free DNA Tests Will End Marriages!” – Women Empowerment Agency Warns President HH

“Free DNA Tests Will End Marriages!” – Women Empowerment Agency Warns President HH

In a bold and eyebrow-raising statement, the Women Empowerment Agency has issued a tongue-in-cheek yet serious warning to President Hakainde Hichilema: “Don’t open Pandora’s box by making DNA tests free, unless you want mass divorces and fatherless homes!”

Speaking in Lusaka, agency’s Director, Martha Tembo, didn’t mince her words. “Your Excellency, if you make DNA testing free, forget 2026. You’ll be the first president in Zambia to lose an election because of paternity scandals!” she quipped.

According to Ms. Tembo, the proposed policy is a direct threat to national peace and the sanctity of the ‘it’s-your-child-whether-it-looks-like-you-or-not’ doctrine many households have quietly adopted.

“Let’s not pretend,” she continued. “Statistics and aunties at kitchen parties confirm what many fear: about 40% of married women have engaged in extramarital affairs. Now imagine every man rushing for a free DNA test like it’s Black Friday. It’ll be chaos. Marriages will collapse, children will be abandoned, and the courts won’t even have time to breathe!”

Instead, Ms. Tembo proposed that Zambia borrow a page from Tanzania’s playbook: “Over there, if a man is married to a woman, all children born in that marriage are legally his no questions asked, no swabs needed. That’s the African way. That’s how we preserve unity, sanity, and Sunday family lunch.”

She concluded with a not-so-subtle warning: “If the UPND doesn’t reverse course, we’ll mobilize every married woman in this country to vote them out. Mark my words no government survives when angry wives unite.”

Whether President HH will heed the “comedic yet cautionary” advice remains to be seen. But one thing is certain if free DNA testing is approved, Zambian drama is about to hit new reality TV levels.

Response to Government’s Press Statement on Chabinga’s Remarks- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Response to Government’s Press Statement on Chabinga’s Remarks

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

To the UPND Government: even if you assume Zambians are politically naïve, at least have the decency not to insult our intelligence with such brazen deception.

Your feeble attempt to distance yourselves from Robert Chabinga’s shameful attack on accredited diplomats is not only unconvincing; it is a textbook example of state-sponsored dishonesty. Zambians are not the gullible spectators you wish we were. We see the choreography behind this entire performance. Chabinga is not acting alone. He is your political surrogate, your backup actor, recruited after your failed attempt to hijack the Patriotic Front using Miles Sampa collapsed in spectacular fashion.

Let us be crystal clear: you created this mess. You enabled it. You weaponized it for political gain until it finally became a diplomatic liability.

Now, with growing concerns from well-meaning Zambians, you retreat behind a weak press statement, pretending to be mere observers. But the evidence betrays you. Chabinga’s outrageous remarks were not whispered in obscurity. They were broadcast nationwide by ZNBC, your very own propaganda machine. Since when does ZNBC, under strict state oversight, provide wall-to-wall coverage of “opposition” press conferences? Who approved that broadcast? Who directed the national broadcaster to amplify a statement that directly undermines Zambia’s foreign policy and international standing?

Let us not pretend any longer. ZNBC is not a neutral entity. It is an extension of your administration. The same ZNBC that gave Chabinga a platform to insult diplomats is the same institution you used to legitimize the fraudulent Miles Sampa convention, where Sampa declared himself PF party president. A convention riddled with constitutional irregularities was given the appearance of democratic order through full media coverage. Who authorized this coverage? These were not editorial mistakes. They were calculated moves. Someone within your ranks made that call.

Worse still, we must not overlook the dangerous language used by Chabinga. He claimed that some diplomats are allegedly working with Zambia’s former head of state, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, to push a “Plan B” for the 2026 general elections. Then, in a reckless and inflammatory escalation, he declared, “We will deport diplomats at short notice and escort you to the airport. If there is no flight, we will put you in a cargo plane. This is the only way they will learn.” These words are not only disgraceful and inflammatory; they constitute a direct diplomatic blunder of the highest order. Threatening foreign envoys with such crude language is not political theatre; it is a serious violation of diplomatic norms and international etiquette.

If your government truly had no role in this fiasco, then distancing yourselves is not enough. You must act decisively. Publicly censure Chabinga. Strip him of any parliamentary privileges relating to international affairs. Initiate an internal inquiry and, if necessary, refer the matter to law enforcement for violating protocols surrounding national security and diplomatic conduct. A mere press release will not suffice. The world is watching. Diplomats stationed in Zambia deserve assurances that such threats do not reflect government policy and will be dealt with firmly.

If Chabinga and Sampa were truly rogue actors, your government would have publicly disavowed them from the outset. Instead, you gave them airtime, institutional support, and political relevance until the backlash became too great to contain. Now you want to step back and claim innocence. That is unacceptable. You do not get to direct the play and then pretend to be a member of the audience.

Zambians are not blind. We are not asleep. We are not fools. We see how you manipulate state institutions to manufacture division, suppress opposition, and distort the truth. We are not fooled, and we are no longer silent.

This is not just incompetence. It is calculated political sabotage. Diplomacy is not your playground for internal power games. It is a fundamental pillar of our national sovereignty, and you have trampled on it recklessly.

Zambia deserves leadership, not manipulation. We deserve accountability, not evasion. We demand diplomacy, not drama. If your administration still upholds any standards of statesmanship, then act accordingly.

Enough of the propaganda. Enough of the manipulation. Enough of the political theatre.

Zambia deserves better. And Zambians demand better now.

UPND REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR MEDIA SELF-REGULATION

UPND REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR MEDIA SELF-REGULATION

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has reiterated its unwavering support for media self-regulation as a cornerstone of press freedom and democratic governance.

Speaking during a media briefing at the Anderson Kambela Mazoka Secretariat, UPND Media Official Amos Chanda said the party and President Hakainde Hichilema remain firmly committed to the principles enshrined in the UPND manifesto.

Mr. Chanda warned that introducing statutory regulation for media personnel would undermine the independence of journalists and weaken the country’s democratic fabric.

“The independence of the media is premised on self-regulation, and with the rapid advancement in technology, it becomes increasingly challenging to regulate media without infringing on its freedom,” Mr. Chanda said.

He noted that Zambia already has sufficient legal safeguards, including laws on national security, defamation, and sedition, which serve to guide media conduct within the existing framework.

Mr. Chanda stressed that journalism, unlike law or medicine, does not require licensing because it operates on ethical principles and professional conscience.

“Media professionals operate on moral and ethical principles and rely on their conscience in the execution of their duties,” he said.

He emphasized that Zambia’s Constitution, particularly the Bill of Rights, guarantees freedom of expression and protects journalistic practice.

“This is in line with global democratic standards, like in the United States, where a free press is constitutionally protected,” Mr. Chanda added.

He urged media stakeholders to be cautious in advocating for statutory regulation, warning it could open the door to censorship and control.

“The idea that you need a licence to open your mouth or print your thoughts should be troubling to any media professional and I urge my friends in the media to think seriously about proposing a statutory self-regulated mechanism,” Mr. Chanda said.

The remarks come amid a national debate on media accountability and calls from some quarters for a statutory regulatory framework.

Meanwhile, UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe has challenged those predicting regime change in 2026 to substantiate their claims.

Mr. Simuuwe said opposition parties still fail to comprehend the reasons behind their 2021 defeat, and this ignorance will cost them again.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Simuuwe said President Hichilema has restored stability in key economic sectors that were in disarray under the Patriotic Front.

He cited improvements in education, mining, agriculture, and health as evidence of the government’s performance and commitment.

Responding to Political Scientist Neo Simutanyi’s suggestion that President Hichilema may not attain the 50 plus 1 threshold in 2026, Mr. Simuuwe dismissed the claim as baseless.

He asserted that President Hichilema will secure a second term effortlessly because no opposition party has mounted a credible challenge.

SIMUUWE Challenges 2026 Regime Change Predictions

SIMUUWE Challenges 2026 Regime Change Predictions

UPND Media Director MARK SIMUUWE has challenged those predicting that there will be a change of government in 2026 to prove their arguments.

Mr. SIMUUWE says the failure by the opposition to understand how they lost the 2021 general election will result in another defeat.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. SIMUUWE said President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has stabilized many economic sectors that collapsed under the Patriotic Front such as Education, Mining, Agriculture and Health among others.

He was responding to a statement by Political Scientist NEO SIMUTANYI, who was suggesting that President HICHILEMA will struggle to attain 50 plus 1 in the 2026 general election.

Mr. SIMUUWE said President HICHILEMA will win a second term with ease, as no opposition can challenge his performance so far in less than 5 years.

Meanwhile, UPND Media Official AMOS CHANDA called for unity among journalists to resolve the debates on self regulation.

Mr. CHANDA said dialogue is one way to address the concerns as self regulation is the only acceptable method to allow the media to operate freely.

FIXING THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT ZAMBIA’s BIGGEST PRIORITY – M’MEMBE

FIXING THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT ZAMBIA’s BIGGEST PRIORITY – M’MEMBE

Lusaka… Monday May 5, 2025 – Socialist Party (SP) President Dr Fred M’membe says President Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND administration are out of touch with the realities facing ordinary Zambians, as they focus on constitutional amendments while the majority of citizens struggle to survive.

In a statement, Dr M’membe questioned the government’s priorities, arguing that the most pressing issues facing the country relate to poverty, hunger, and inequality—not constitutional reform.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/194RPVtf26/?mibextid=wwXIfr

“Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government should realise that our biggest priority comes from the biggest challenges that we face today,” said M’membe.

“The constitutional amendments he’s pushing for are not our biggest concern and priority as a nation at the moment.”

Dr M’membe cited damning statistics from the World Bank, which show that 64.3 percent of Zambians—approximately 12.6 million people—were living on less than US$2.15 per day in 2022.

The same report places Zambia as the country with the 4th highest inequality in the region and the 6th highest in the world.

“These figures are not just numbers. They are a clear indictment of a system that has failed our people,” he said.

“If we are not able to feed our people, we will have challenges. We will not even have the type of human beings that we want to have. A healthy human being is what we need more than anything else.”

The Socialist Party leader questioned why the government appears less concerned about widespread deprivation and food insecurity.

“With such statistics, can amending the constitution be considered a priority for the country? Why is Mr Hichilema less concerned about the difficulties facing our people?” he asked.

Dr M’membe, who has long criticised neoliberal economic policies, reiterated his party’s commitment to investing in agriculture and improving access to basic needs.

“The Socialist Party will pay a lot of attention to agriculture. We are resolved to struggle without respite and draw up plans so that we can meet our people’s needs for basic necessities as much as possible, and as soon as possible,” said Dr M’membe.

Milupi mocking Zambians who can’t afford expensive m/meal – Rev Chilekwa

By Chinoyi Chipulu

Former Ndola Pastors’ Fellowship chairperson Rev Chilekwa Mulenga has described remarks by infrastructure and housing minister Charles Milupi that the unemployed in urban areas are the sole complainants of having to buy a 25kg bag of mealie-meal at K400, as a mockery to Zambians.

On Thursday, Milupi told Daily Revelation that only the unemployed were complaining about the K400 mealie-meal prices.

He said people who were in formal employment with good salaries could not complain about that price of mealie-meal.

But in an interview yesterday, Rev Mulenga said such remarks from a public servant were a mockery to Zambians.

“I am once again disappointed at this kind of mockery and insult on the people’s intelligence. This level of arrogance

PROPHET ISAAC PRAISE SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA WILL RULE TILL 2031

He writes…..

The year 2026 is done and dusted; President Hakainde Hichilema will continue being the Republican President of Zambia until 2031.

The only vision I have now is about who will be the Republican President in 2031 when President HH’s two terms expire.

The Lord has revealed to me already. You may not like it, but President Hakainde Hichilema is winning the 2026 Presidential Elections again. He will rule up to 2031 no doubt about it. This is settled. When a prophet speaks, the wise listen.
