US Now Requires Botswana And Namibia Citizens To Pay $15,000 Bond For Visas, Join Malawi And Zambia A controversial new travel rule is now set to ensnare travellers from two more Southern African nations. The United States will require citizens from Botswana and Namibia to post a visa bond of up to US$15,000 (approx. R 270,000) to visit the country from the 1st of January 2026. This dramatic move places them on an expanding list of countries targeted by a US State Department pilot programme aimed at reducing visa overstays.
Travellers from Malawi and Zambia have faced this requirement since August, with more nations added throughout late 2025. The list now spans continents, creating a significant new financial hurdle for thousands of potential visitors.
The Expanding List Of Nations Facing The Costly Requirement According to the latest update from the U.S. Department of State on December 17, 2025, the visa bond requirement is rapidly expanding. The affected nations and the dates the rules take effect are clearly laid out.
From the start of the new year, citizens of Bhutan, Botswana, the Central African Republic, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Namibia, and Turkmenistan must comply.
They join several African nations already subject to the bonds, including Malawi and Zambia (from August 20, 2025), The Gambia (from October 11, 2025), and Mauritania, Sao Tome and Principe, and Tanzania (all from October 23, 2025).
A State Department spokesperson previously told Reuters the list targets countries with “high overstay rates, screening and vetting deficiencies, concerns regarding acquisition of citizenship by investment without a residency requirement, and foreign policy considerations.”
The official notice is blunt about the financial stakes.
“Any citizen or national traveling on a passport issued by one of these countries, who is found otherwise eligible for a B1/B2 visa, must post a bond for $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 (approx. R 90,000, R 180,000, or R 270,000). The amount is determined at the time of the visa interview.”
Crucially, the bond is a refundable deposit, but it comes with strict conditions. The full amount is returned only if the traveller leaves the US on time and complies with all visa terms. The State Department warns,
“A bond does not guarantee visa issuance. If someone pays fees without a consular officer’s direction, this person will not get that money back.”
Strict Travel Restrictions Accompany The Hefty Price Tag Paying the bond is only part of the new challenge. The US government has imposed severe restrictions on how and where these travellers can enter and leave the country, adding another layer of complexity to their journeys.
All travellers who have posted a visa bond are forced to use just three specific airports for their entire US trip. The designated ports of entry are Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
The State Department’s warning is clear about the consequences of deviating from this rule.
“Not doing this might lead to a denied entry or a departure that is not properly recorded.”
This forces travellers from affected countries, regardless of their final destination in the vast United States, to route their international flights through the US East Coast. It could mean additional domestic connecting flights and significantly higher travel costs on top of the substantial bond.
Diplomatic Pushback And The Case Of Mali The visa bond policy has not been met with silence. One nation’s forceful response led to a notable reversal, demonstrating that diplomatic pressure can alter the US approach.
Mali was initially added to the bond list in October 2025. The West African nation’s government responded swiftly by imposing an identical reciprocal bond requirement on US citizens wishing to visit Mali. This tit-for-tat move escalated a migration rule into a diplomatic confrontation. Within weeks, the US backed down. By October 23, 2025, Mali’s name was quietly removed from the official State Department list, while its neighbours remained.
This incident shows the policy can be fluid. The State Department has stated that “the list of countries may be updated from time to time.”
For now, however, the citizens of Botswana and Namibia must prepare for a far more expensive and restrictive process if they wish to visit the United States in the new year.

GODAZA COMMENDS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA FOR HISTORIC US$5.2 BILLION RESERVES
Governance and Development Advocates Zambia (GODAZA) has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema for the “historic” accumulation of over US$5.2 billion in Zambia’s foreign exchange reserves.
GODAZA Executive Director, Elias Mulenga, stated that the development gives Zambia more than five months of import cover for the first time in the country’s history.
Mr. Mulenga highlighted that President Hichilema is serious about the economy, with inflation projections pointing to single-digit inflation by the end of the year.
He urged Zambians to give President Hichilema more time as the country remains firmly on the path to recovery.
Mr. Mulenga noted that economic stability and inclusive governance are becoming more evident under the current leadership.
He emphasized that the reserves achievement reflects sound fiscal discipline and growing investor confidence.
Mr. Mulenga encouraged citizens to remain optimistic and supportive of the government’s economic agenda.
At least 16 files disappeared from the Justice Department’s public webpage for documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, including a photograph showing President Donald Trump less than a day after they were released, with no explanation from the government and no notice to the public.
Inside a folder among other photos was a photograph of US President Donald Trump alongside Epstein, Melania Trump, and Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The other photos removed from the trove of documents were almost all nude paintings of women in Epstein’s home.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee pointed to the missing image featuring Trump in a post on X, writing: “What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public.”
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche responded to the removal during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, claiming that the files were removed to protect victims.
“There were a number of photographs that were pulled down after being released on Friday,” he said. “That’s because a judge in New York has ordered us to listen to any victim or victim rights group, if they have any concerns about the material that we’re putting up.
“So when we hear concerns — whether it’s photographs of women that we do not believe are victims or we didn’t have information to show that they were victims, but we learned that there are concerns, of course — we’re taking that photograph down, and we’re going to address it,” the attorney general continued.
“If we need to redact faces or other information, we will, and then we’ll put it back up. So we are, in every way, shape, and form, complying with the statute,” Blanche, 51, added, before he claimed that Trump has “nothing” to hide regarding the Epstein files.
Blanche also said during his Meet the Press spot, “You should not be surprised that the material that we released on Friday, or the material that we’re going to release over the next couple of weeks, is exactly what the statute requires us to release.”
The US Justice Department did not answer questions Saturday about why the files disappeared but said in a post on X that “photos and other materials will continue being reviewed and redacted consistent with the law in an abundance of caution as we receive additional information.”
The newly released files included never-before-seen photographs of former US President Bill Clinton in a swimming pool and wearing cultural garb with Epstein, as well as images showing Clinton with musicians Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross, alongside pictures of Epstein with actors Chris Tucker and Kevin Spacey and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor lying across the laps of several women.
American rapper Nicki Minaj has explained why she decided to publicly speak out about reported attacks against Christians in Nigeria, saying the country is personally important to her and the stories she has heard are deeply troubling.
Nicki made this known during a surprise appearance at AmericaFest, where she was asked about Nigeria and her recent comments on religious persecution.
According to her, Nigeria is not just another country she talks about online. She revealed that her pastor is Nigerian and that she has a strong fan base in the country, popularly known as Nigerian Barbs. These personal connections, she said, made it impossible for her to stay silent.
The rapper said reports of Christians being kidnapped, attacked, or killed during church activities should worry the entire world, not just Nigerians.
In her words, hearing that people are being harmed simply because of their faith is something that should spark outrage globally.
Nicki also made it clear that she is done keeping quiet on issues of faith and persecution, stressing that silence only empowers oppression. She said she and others are no longer willing to be bullied into silence and will continue to speak up for Christians wherever they are in the world.
She went on to talk about religious freedom, noting that many people take it for granted, especially in countries where worship is protected by law. According to her, there are people across the world who have to hide just to pray, and they deserve to be remembered and supported.
Her comments come weeks after she reacted to a social media post by former US President Donald Trump, who claimed that Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. At the time, Nicki expressed gratitude for the freedom to worship and condemned the persecution of people based on religion.
During her AmericaFest appearance, Nicki also praised Trump and Vice President JD Vance, saying they understand the concerns of everyday people. She added that Christians also face challenges in the United States, and strong leadership is necessary to protect religious freedom everywhere.
🇺🇦🇷🇺 KREMLIN DENIES WANTING ALL OF UKRAINE – AND NOBODY BELIEVES THEM
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called U.S. intelligence assessments “absolutely not true” after Reuters reported six sources confirming Putin wants all of Ukraine plus former Soviet territories including NATO members.
Putin’s denial credibility: February 2022 claimed no invasion plans three days before tanks crossed. Denied Wagner Group existence while Prigozhin ran private army. Denied Crimea annexation plans while green men seized parliament.
Denied targeting civilians while leveling Mariupol. Perfect track record of lying.
U.S. intelligence going public matters more than denial. Six sources leaked to Reuters means deliberate signal- either justifying continued Ukraine aid to incoming Trump admin, or warning European NATO members Russia won’t stop at Donbas. Probably both.
The Baltic states- Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania- are former Soviet republics now in NATO. So is Poland’s eastern territory.
Moldova’s next obvious target after Ukraine consolidation. U.S. intel is explicitly saying Putin views NATO Article 5 as bluff worth calling eventually.
Trump-Putin meeting gets complicated if this assessment holds.
Either Trump accepts “peace deal” giving Putin eastern Ukraine as stepping stone, or Trump-era NATO has to demonstrate credible deterrence in Baltics.
Middle ground doesn’t exist when opponent wants empire restoration.
Peskov can deny all he wants. Maps don’t lie about what Russia considers “historically Russian lands.”
Nicki Minaj made an awkward slip while speaking on stage alongside Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, during Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest on Sunday, December 21.
Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, was asked what message she had for young men in the audience. While praising Republican leadership, she lauded JD Vance, but mistakenly referred to him as an “assassin”.
“Young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president,” Minaj said, before adding: “And you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president.”
She paused immediately after realising the error. Kirk, who was standing beside her, quickly reassured the rapper, telling her: “Trust me, there is nothing new under the sun that I have not heard. So you’re fine… You let it roll right off your back.”
Kirk added that she was unconcerned about any backlash, saying: “If the internet wants to clip it, who cares? I love this woman.”
The appearance marked the first Turning Point USA summit since Charlie Kirk was shot dead in September during a university appearance. He was killed in front of thousands of students, and a 22-year-old suspect is currently on trial over the attack. Kirk is survived by his wife and their two children.
Charlie Kirk had previously criticised Minaj at a Turning Point USA event, calling her “not a good role model,” and at one point confusing her with rapper Cardi B while condemning sexually explicit lyrics.
Minaj has faced renewed criticism in recent months over her support for Donald Trump, despite having previously opposed some of his policies. The backlash intensified after she accepted a role working with the Trump administration to help spotlight alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
Responding to her appointment, Mike Waltz praised Minaj on X, calling her “not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.”
Minaj replied: “Ambassador, I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. I do not take it for granted. It means more than you know.”
She added that she and her fans would continue to use their influence to speak out, saying: “We’ve been given our influence by God. There must be a bigger purpose.”
Two People Questioned as Gauteng Police Intensify Probe Into DJ Warras Murder
Gauteng police have taken two individuals in for questioning as investigations intensify into the killing of broadcaster and DJ Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, who was shot dead in central Johannesburg earlier this month.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the questioning forms part of ongoing efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the high-profile murder.
Police Confirm Questioning, No Arrests Yet Speaking to the media on Monday, SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that detectives are questioning two people in connection with the case.
“We can confirm that Gauteng police, led by Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, have taken in two people for questioning.
We have not yet arrested anyone. The questioning is taking place this morning, after which detectives will determine whether arrests will follow,” Mathe said.
She praised the provincial team for accelerating investigations under intense public pressure, saying additional resources had been mobilised to advance the case.
Suspect Previously Identified The latest development follows an announcement by National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, who said on Friday, 19 December 2025, that investigators had identified a suspect.
Masemola told media during Safer Festive Season operations in Pretoria that an arrest was expected before Monday, 22 December 2025.
Broad-Daylight Shooting Shocks Johannesburg Stock was shot and killed in what police believe was a targeted hit in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday, 16 December 2025. The killing occurred in broad daylight, drawing widespread condemnation and renewed concerns about violent crime in the city centre.
The popular DJ, broadcaster and television personality had reportedly received multiple threats prior to his death.
Threats and Protection Orders Before Killing According to information provided by police, Stock had obtained several protection orders after being threatened by various individuals.
The threats are believed to be linked to his work through a security company involved in inspecting illegally occupied, or “hijacked,” buildings — a sector often associated with organised criminal activity.
Zambia Hold Mali To 1-1 Draw In Thrilling AFCON Opener
By Morgan Chomba
Zambia and Mali shared points in their opening Group A fixture at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. The match started at a high pace, with both sides showing strong attacking intent and solid midfield play. In the 41st minute, Zambia goalkeeper Willard Mwanza saved a penalty to keep the scores level going into halftime.
Mali took the lead in the 64th minute through Lassine Sinayoko, who finished calmly after a quick corner. However, Zambia fought back in added time, with Patson Daka equalising in the 91st minute with a powerful header, ensuring both teams settled for a draw.
The result leaves Zambia and Mali with one point each as they look ahead to their remaining Group A fixtures.
The latest tranche of Epstein files photos released by the Justice Department includes disturbing pictures that appear to show the late pedophile kissing and cozying up to little girls.
The never-before-seen images were framed and displayed at his sprawling estate on Little St. James Island in the US Virgin Islands.
Late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein seen kissing, cuddling little girls in shocking new photos released by DOJ One image, displayed on a wall, shows a n@ked infant in a bath.
The unnamed kids appear to be much younger than the teenagers whom Epstein copped to paying for sex as part of his sweetheart deal with federal prosecutors in 2008.
The new photos come as one whistleblower was vindicated by the document dump after she said she warned the FBI in 1996 about Epstein’s sickening interest in child porn0graphy.
It’s not clear who the children are, or if any of them are Epstein’s victims.
In the new photos, the disgraced financier is seen draped in a robe, with his eyes closed as he cradles what appears to be a very young blonde girl in his arms.
Late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein seen kissing, cuddling little girls in shocking new photos released by DOJ Another shows him smiling while seated in a seat on a private jet with his arm wrapped around a young girl wearing a powder blue sweatshirt.
Epstein looks directly at the camera as he kisses a redheaded girl wearing what appears to be pigtails in a third chilling photo.
One other deeply unsettling photo shows a picture on one of Epstein’s walls of a naked baby taking a bath in a sink.
In each instance, the girls’ faces are redacted with large black boxes, a measure the DOJ says it took to protect the identities of potential victims.
The photos were among thousands of heavily redacted Epstein records released by the DOJ on Friday to comply with a congressionally mandated 30-day deadline.
Their release closely follows the revelation that a former employee of Epstein’s alerted the FBI that he was interested in “child porn0graphy” but that the feds apparently did nothing.
Maria Farmer, whom the convicted s£x trafficker hired to help purchase art, filed a complaint against him on Sept. 3, 1996, midway through former Epstein pal Bill Clinton‘s second term in office but he somehow escaped facing significant legal scrutiny for another decade.
She has publicly claimed for years that she tried to inform the authorities about Epstein’s and his madam, Ghislaine Maxwell’s, predatory behavior, but the FBI didn’t publicly confirm she had filed a complaint until the latest batch of documents were released.
Epstein d!ed of an apparent su!cide in August 2019 in a federal prison in Manhattan as he was awaiting trial on federal s£x trafficking charges.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence following her 2021 conviction on federal charges, including s£x trafficking and conspiracy.
Wicknell Chivayo Pledges Vehicles and Cash to Security Forces’ Cheer Funds on Unity Day
Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has announced major donations to Zimbabwe’s security services cheer funds. He pledged vehicles and cash worth millions of dollars to support welfare programmes for serving and retired personnel.
The announcement was made on Unity Day, as the country marked the signing of the 1987 Unity Accord that brought together ZANLA and ZIPRA forces.
Unity Day Message Highlights Peace and Patriotism In a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Chivayo said Unity Day serves as a reminder of Zimbabwe’s collective commitment to peace, national cohesion and patriotism.
He paid tribute to the late former President Robert Mugabe and the late former Vice President Joshua Nkomo for their roles in forging unity, describing the accord as a defining moment in the country’s history.
Chivayo also praised the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), crediting them with maintaining peace and stability in the country.

Donations Target Welfare of Serving and Retired Personnel Chivayo said his contributions were aimed at supporting the welfare of men and women in uniform, particularly during the festive season.
He noted that cheer funds linked to the security services have, over the years, assisted with school fees for orphans, medical care for injured and disabled veterans, groceries for widows in remote areas and support for retired officers facing hardship.
“These funds ensure that those who serve or have served are not left behind,” he said.
Vehicles and Cash Allocated Across Security Services
According to the announcement, Chivayo pledged the following donations:
ZDF Commander’s Christmas Cheer Fund: 10 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles and US$1 million in cash
ZRP Commissioner-General’s Cheer Fund: 5 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles and US$500,000 in cash
ZPCS Commissioner-General’s Cheer Fund: 5 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles and US$500,000 in cash
He said the vehicles would be used for welfare-focused and operational outreach programmes under the respective cheer funds.
Presidential Approval Required Before Handover Chivayo stated that the vehicles are ready for immediate handover through Faramatsi Motors, and the cash is available for distribution.
However, the entire donation remains subject to approval by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
Liverpool are awaiting scan results amid fears that their record signing Alexander Isak has suffered a broken leg after being injured in Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur, reports said Monday, December 22.
The Sweden forward was hurt while scoring the opening goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, following a sliding challenge from Spurs defender Micky van der Ven. Isak, who came on as a second-half substitute, was unable to celebrate with his teammates and left the pitch in visible distress.
Speaking after the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted the situation looked concerning, though he stressed there was no medical confirmation at the time.
“If a player doesn’t even try to come back, that is usually not a good thing, but I cannot say anything more than that,” Slot said. “That is just a gut feeling and nothing medical… let’s not be too negative yet. We don’t know yet.”
According to reports from The Athletic and Sky Sports, Liverpool fear Isak has broken his leg, an injury that would likely sideline him for an extended period. The 26-year-old has endured a disrupted start to life at Anfield, making just 16 appearances and scoring three goals since completing a £125 million British-record transfer from Newcastle United on deadline day.
Isak’s preparation was hampered by a dispute with Newcastle that denied him a full pre-season, leaving him short of fitness on arrival, and his campaign was further interrupted by a groin injury earlier in the season.
Any prolonged absence would be a significant setback for Slot, with Mohamed Salah away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Cody Gakpo not expected back from a muscle injury until early in the new year. That leaves Hugo Ekitike, who has scored five goals in his last four games, and Federico Chiesa as Liverpool’s only senior attacking options.
Liverpool, whose Premier League title defence had faltered after a poor run of results, have climbed to fifth in the table after extending their unbeaten league run to five matches.
CHINA SLAMS U.S. SEIZURE OF VENEZUELAN OIL TANKER HEADED FOR CHINA – CALLS IT “INTERNATIONAL PIRACY”
Beijing is furious – and this time, it’s not subtle.
China says the U.S. interception of a China-bound oil tanker off Venezuela’s coast is a “serious violation of international law.”
The ship, carrying roughly 1.8 million barrels of Venezuelan crude, was stopped in international waters days after Trump announced a de facto blockade on sanctioned Venezuelan oil.
Washington’s defense: the tanker was falsely flagged, part of Venezuela’s shadow fleet, and carrying sanctioned crude. Case closed.
China’s response: Venezuela has the right to trade. Unilateral U.S. sanctions don’t rewrite maritime law. Full stop.
Zoom out. This isn’t about one ship. It’s about precedent.
The U.S. is now enforcing sanctions physically, at sea, against cargo destined for the world’s second-largest economy.
That’s not paperwork warfare – that’s interdiction. And China is reading the fine print very carefully.
What happens next? Expect louder diplomatic pushback, more discreet rerouting, and a faster push by China and sanctioned states to harden alternative shipping, insurance, and payment systems.
This is sanctions policy evolving into naval reality.
And once that line is crossed, everyone starts counting hulls instead of headlines.
🇵🇱 Warsaw becomes the first city in the world fully covered by an integrated air defense system based on U.S.-made Patriot systems.
This follows the achievement of full operational readiness of Poland’s first Patriot division, integrated with radar stations and the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).
According to Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the new system enables Poland to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as counter enemy aircraft.
The U.S. ambassador noted that Warsaw is the first city globally with a fully operational Patriot system combined with a unified IBCS command center. He added that even in the United States, a system of this scale has not yet been deployed.
Poland became the first country after the U.S. to gain access to the IBCS system. In the future, it will also integrate with F-35 fighter jets and the short-range Narew air defense system.
Between 2027 and 2029, Poland will receive six additional Patriot batteries. In total, the Polish Armed Forces will operate eight Patriot batteries deployed across different regions of the country.

Lungu, Lubinda created the ‘monsters’ in Sampa, Chabinga – Simon Mwila
OPPOSITION lawyer Simon Mwila has blamed former president Edgar Lungu and Patriotic Front (PF) faction leader Given Lubinda for what he describes as the “monstrous behaviour” of Miles Sampa and Robert Chabinga, arguing that the turmoil rocking the PF is self inflicted.
Mwila said the late former head of state and Lubinda failed to manage ambition and succession within the party, creating conditions that allowed opportunism to flourish.
He argued that Chabinga is merely exploiting a political environment created by senior PF leaders, rather than being the root cause of the party’s crisis.
“In all honesty, late president Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Hon Given Lubinda are the ones who awakened a sleeping monster in Hon Miles Sampa. In doing so, they indirectly created another monster in Hon Robert Chabinga,” Mwila said.
Mwila contended that the developments unfolding in the PF are not isolated incidents but symptoms of deeper institutional decay.
“What we are witnessing is not just the rise of an opportunist. It is the slow erosion of internal political discipline. Political parties rarely collapse because of external attacks, they collapse when they fail to manage ambition, popularity and succession from within,” he said.
According to Mwila, the PF has developed a culture of self sabotage, where emerging leaders who resonate with grassroots members are treated with suspicion rather than studied or embraced.
“Every time a figure emerges who connects with the grassroots, the first reaction is not reflection but suspicion. Instead of asking why the membership is responding, labels are quickly applied. Desperate. UPND project. MMD guy. Sellout,” he said.
He cited Mporokoso MP Brian Mundubile as an example, noting that despite his growing popularity within the party, his influence is viewed as a threat rather than an asset.
“That tells you everything about the current mindset. A party that fears its own popular figures cannot defeat an opponent,” Mwila said.
He warned that constant suspicion and internal conflict continue to create political space for opportunists to thrive, insisting that the crisis facing the PF is not about individuals but leadership failure.
“This is not a Chabinga problem. It is a leadership failure problem,” he said.
Mwila further argued that political “monsters” are rarely born but are created by poor leadership choices and internal chaos.
He cautioned that unless the PF resolves its internal contradictions and accepts an “obvious” successor capable of uniting the opposition, the party risks handing the ruling UPND an easy victory in the 2026 general elections.
“As things stand, we may simply be wasting taxpayers’ money printing ballot papers because UPND will carry the day with ease,” Mwila said.
CHABINGA WANTS ME TO ACT AS PF PRESIDENT- MUDOLO … I met Chabinga in SA in the presence of Bishop Mwenda, chiefs Muyombe and Mwenewisi and Ngo’na.
South Africa’s based PF presidential aspirant Willah Mudolo says Mafinga member of parliament Robert Chabinga (PF) wants a neutral person like himself to take over as PF acting president in order to resolve the impasse in the former ruling party.
In an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Mudolo said there was no way the convention could be held in PF given the infighting and the court action by Chabinga as the legitimate leader of PF.
Mudolo said he, with the mediation of chiefs from Muyombe – chief Muyombe and chief Mwenewisi – met Chabinga and https://dailyrevelationzambia.com/chabinga-wants-me-to-act-as-pf-president-mudolo-i-met-chabinga-in-sa-in-the-presence-of-bishop-mwenda-chiefs-muyombe-and-mwenewisi-and-ngona/

COURT ACQUITS CHIENGE MP OF THREATENING VIOLENCE CHARGE
By Nelson Zulu
The Lusaka Magistrates Court has acquitted Chienge Independent Member of Parliament Given Katuta of a charge of threatening violence contrary to Section 90(A) of the Penal Code, against times of Zambia photojournalist Henry Chunza.
Delivering judgment this morning, Lusaka Principal Magistrate Idah Phiri ruled that the prosecution failed to meet the legal threshold for the offence, stating that the alleged words attributed to Ms. Katuta were subjective and interrogative, and did not amount to a threat of violence.
Magistrate Phiri noted that no witness testified that Ms. Katuta threatened to injure or harm Mr. Chunza, and video footage from the national assembly did not show any threats or insults.
She has however expressed disappointment that the matter was brought before the court, urging the prosecution and Zambia Police to exercise professionalism to avoid unnecessary congestion in correctional facilities and financial loss to the state.
The charge arose from an incident on July 21st 2023 in Lusaka, where Ms. Katuta was alleged to have threatened Mr. Chunza using insulting words and spat at him while demanding that he deletes photos of her following her suspension from the national assembly.
And reacting to her acquittal, Ms. Katuta has thanked god for the favorable judgment given the political nature of the case and extended an olive branch to Mr. Chunza.

Rwanda Shuts Down Over 10,000 Evangelical Churches
Rwanda has closed more than 10,000 evangelical churches after they failed to comply with a 2018 law regulating places of worship.
The law requires churches and other religious institutions to be officially registered, meet health and safety standards, operate in approved buildings, and be led by qualified religious leaders.
Authorities say many of the closed churches did not meet these requirements, including operating in unsafe structures or without proper documentation.
The government says the move is meant to protect worshippers, ensure accountability, and prevent exploitation, with President Paul Kagame previously criticizing unregulated churches for taking advantage of believers.
However, human rights groups and religious leaders argue that the closures are too strict and raise concerns about freedom of worship, especially for small and independent congregations.
Some churches may be allowed to reopen once they fully comply, but enforcement of the law remains ongoing.
AES Joint Force Officially Launched(Burkina Faso , Mali , Niger )
The Transitional President of Mali and President of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), H.E. General Assimi Goïta, has officially handed over the Standard (Banner) to the AES Unified Joint Force (FU-AES), marking the operational start of this historic multinational force.
The solemn ceremony brought together top government officials, defense ministers, military chiefs, diplomats, and international partners, reflecting the strategic importance of the moment for the Sahel.
In his address, President Goïta described the event as a historic turning point, confirming the AES Joint Force as a concrete response to security threats in the region. He praised the courage and professionalism of Sahelian armed forces and highlighted successful joint operations such as Yereko I & II, which weakened terrorist networks through coordinated intelligence and shared resources.
He emphasized that today’s threats go beyond terrorism to include economic and information warfare, prompting AES initiatives like regional media platforms to strengthen information sovereignty and counter disinformation.
Declaring that “AES is an irreversible reality,” President Goïta honored fallen soldiers and civilians while thanking the people of the Sahel for their resilience and support.
Mali’s Defence Minister, General Sadio Camara, reaffirmed that peace, security, and sovereignty cannot be outsourced, presenting the AES Unified Force as a symbol of Sahelian solidarity, dignity, and self-reliance.
The newly appointed commander, Brigadier General Daouda Traoré, now takes charge of leading the force in a challenging security environment, tasked with defending the stability and sovereignty of the AES region.

Breaking | CAF issues an official reprimand to the Algeria national team delegation ⛔
After reviewing CCTV footage at one of the team hotels, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ⚽ issued a strong reprimand and an official warning to the Algeria national team delegation , participating in the Africa Cup of Nations .
This came after one member of the Algerian delegation deliberately covered a photo of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco , displayed in the hotel lobby, and removed the Moroccan flag from among the flags of the participating teams.
CAF stressed in its official correspondence the absolute necessity of respecting the symbols of the host country , adhering to the values and ethics of fair sporting competition 欄⚽, and keeping all political considerations completely away from football events.
CAF also called for an official investigation into the incident and demanded that appropriate measures be taken against those involved in this disgraceful act ⚠️❌.
Blaming AfriForum Is a Distraction — But Anti-American Rhetoric Alone Doesn’t Explain SA–US Tensions
Phumulani M. Majozi is right to raise a hard truth many South Africans don’t want to confront: the Ramaphosa administration has often misled the public by suggesting that AfriForum is the main reason US–South Africa relations have deteriorated. That narrative was convenient — and many people believed it.
For more than a decade, South Africans have watched elements within the ANC embrace open anti-American rhetoric, align themselves with Washington’s rivals, and speak with hostility about the West while still expecting Western trade, aid, and investment to remain unaffected. That contradiction has consequences.
Why Majozi’s argument holds weight
Senior ANC figures have repeatedly attacked the US politically and ideologically.
South Africa’s foreign policy has drifted closer to countries openly hostile to the US.
Mixed messaging on Russia, Ukraine, and global conflicts has raised serious concerns in Washington.
Diplomacy thrives on trust — and trust has been weakened over time, not overnight.
Blaming AfriForum alone oversimplifies a much deeper problem and avoids accountability at government level.
However — this is where Majozi’s argument also needs balance.
Where the argument falls short AfriForum is not irrelevant in the diplomatic equation. Lobbying groups, court actions, and international campaigns do influence how South Africa is perceived abroad — especially when they reach US lawmakers and media. To pretend they have zero impact would be dishonest.
The real facts on the ground
US–SA relations are strained because of multiple overlapping issues, not one villain.
The ANC’s ideological posturing plays a role.
AfriForum’s international activism plays a role.
South Africa’s economic decline, governance failures, corruption, and policy uncertainty also play a major role.
Investors and allies care less about slogans and more about stability, rule of law, and clear alignment.
The uncomfortable truth This is not a simple “AfriForum vs ANC” story. It is a story about a governing party trying to deflect blame, activist groups pushing their own agendas, and ordinary South Africans caught in the middle while the economy suffers.
South Africa does not need propaganda, scapegoats, or ideological shouting matches. It needs honest leadership, consistent foreign policy, and accountability — especially in a world where global alliances matter more than ever.
Ignoring that reality won’t fix our relationship with the US — or our problems at home.
Russia’s liquefied natural gas exports to China hit a new record high in November.
Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to China reached a new record high of 1.299 million tonnes in September 2025, up from 751,000 tonnes a year earlier and well above the previous record of 1 million tonnes set in July 2023, data from China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) showed.
Russia remained China’s third largest LNG supplier in September, behind Australia with 2.127 million tonnes and Qatar with 1.453 million tonnes.
Russia exported 2.066 million tonnes of the 2.765 million tonnes of LNG it produced in September to the largest Asian buyers – China, Japan and South Korea.
Large-scale LNG is produced in Russia by Sakhalin Energy (owned by Gazprom, Mitsui and Mitsubishi), Yamal LNG (owned by Novatek , TotalEnergies , and China’s CNPC and SRF), Gazprom LNG Portovaya and Cryogas-Vysotsk.
Russia’s total gas exports to China, including pipeline gas and LNG, rose 37% year-on-year to 4.078 billion cubic meters in September.
China’s LNG imports fell 12% year-on-year to 5.76 million tonnes in September. With a fairly modest purchase volume dynamic, China has been the global leader since May, having overtaken Japan. Amid the growth of pipeline gas imports, which have begun to directly compete with expensive LNG, its share of imports has decreased considerably. There has been a year-on-year decline every month since last fall.
Re-exports of LNG from China fell to less than one percent of imports, as not a single large shipment was resold and all transactions were limited to small-scale activity and bunkering.

China gets gas by pipeline from five countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Myanmar. The country imported a total of 5.215 bcm of natural gas by pipeline in September, which was up 1% from 5.187 bcm a year earlier.
September appears distinct in gas statistics, as hot weather is passing while cold weather is still a while away, and scheduled maintenance is done on import pipelines, so for objective reasons imports fall compared to the months just before and after.
China’s overall imports of pipeline gas and LNG fell 7.3% to 12.713 bcm in September from 13.71 bcm a year earlier.
ISRAEL WANTS TRUMP ON BOARD FOR STRIKES ON IRAN – BUT AMERICA’S NEW RIGHT ISN’T SO EAGER
Netanyahu isn’t just visiting Trump, he’s delivering war plans.
On December 29, the Israeli PM will present a multi-option “strike package” targeting Iran’s rebuilt missile production facilities, which Israeli intelligence warns could soon produce up to 3,000 ballistic missiles per year.
Unlike the summer’s Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted nuclear infrastructure, this plan marks a strategic pivot, from nuclear containment to halting Iran’s growing conventional missile arsenal before it’s fully operational.
This isn’t just about Israeli security. It’s about drawing the U.S. back into the center of a Middle Eastern escalation, at a time when more Americans than ever are questioning why.
With U.S. public opinion growing colder on endless foreign entanglements and unconditional support for Israel, this meeting risks deepening the divide between pro-interventionist hawks and a rising tide of isolationist voices.
For Trump, who’s facing pressure from both hawks and isolationists, this meeting could define how far he’s willing to be pulled into Israel’s wars, and how much of that burden American voters are still willing to carry.
PUTIN GETS THE MESSAGE: KREMLIN ENVOY RETURNS FROM MIAMI WITH U.S. UKRAINE PEACE PROPOSALS
This is no backchannel rumor – it’s confirmed Kremlin procedure.
Russia says special envoy Kirill Dmitriev will brief Putin directly on U.S. proposals for a possible Ukraine settlement as soon as he lands back in Moscow.
Dmitriev just spent two days in Miami meeting with Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Not diplomats-by-committee. Not mid-level functionaries. This was a high-trust, high-access lane.
The talks weren’t public. No joint statement. No press conference. Which usually means both sides are testing ideas they don’t want killed by headlines.
This doesn’t mean a deal is imminent. It means the mechanics of a deal are being explored at the highest political altitude – bypassing Brussels, Kyiv talking points, and cable-news theatrics.
If Putin hears the proposals, it’s because Moscow thinks they’re worth hearing.
What happens next: either the ideas die quietly – or we see a controlled leak outlining “confidence-building steps,” ceasefire language, or territorial ambiguity dressed up as realism.
Watch the timing. When envoys move faster than armies, negotiations are already underway.

LUBINDA’S DECISION TO EXPEL MPS SHOWS HE’S FAILED TO UNITE PF – NYIRENDA
PF faction Deputy Secretary General Brenda Nyirenda says Given Lubinda’s decision to expel members of parliament who voted in favour of Bill 7 shows that he has failed to unite the party.
Nyirenda adds that Lubinda should have called for a central committee meeting and allowed the MPs to exculpate themselves.
On Thursday, Lubinda, who is PF faction acting president expelled PF members of parliament who voted in favour of Bill 7 on Monday last week.
Those from the PF believed to have voted for the Bill include Kanchibiya MP Sunday Chanda, Chitambo MP Remember Mutale, Kantanshi MP Anthony Mumba, Isoka MP Marjorie Nakaponda, Kamfinsa MP Christopher Kang’ombe, Lupososhi MP Musonda Mpankata, and Kasama Central MP Sibongile Mwamba, as well as other UPND-aligned PF MPs.
In an interview on Sunday, Nyirenda said the opposition Members of Parliament faced a lot of intimidation which influenced their votes for the Bill.
“As a leader, he is supposed to call those people and listen to them, what challenges did they have? This idea of just waking up and expelling people is not healthy, it shows that he has failed to unite the party. There’s a lot of pressure than what meets the eye, there’s a lot of pressure that MPs go through and what I would want to tell [you] is that there was a lot of pressure.
You can imagine if what we are hearing, where MPs were captured, quarantined [and] enticed, do you think people can be able to make the correct decision? That’s why for me, I can’t celebrate that win, it’s not a win because in there, there [were] threats, there is quarantine in there, there’s enticement, in there, there’s corruption. So, it’s not a Bill which has passed because it was supposed to pass, there was a lot of intimidation on the opposition members of parliament,” Nyirenda said.
Asked if she was in support of the expulsions, Nyirenda replied in the negative, adding that the decision was not procedural as no central committee meeting was convened to make the resolutions.
“I’m not for that idea, I know the members made a mistake but he never even had [a] chance to meet with the same members before the Bill was passed, how can you be giving instructions online and expect people to adhere?
The procedure is not being followed, if you are going to expel members of parliament, you need to have a central committee meeting and be able to charge them, ask them to exculpate themselves, that’s the only way you can know how to resolve issues but this idea of just waking up and acting out of….just because Michael Sata did that you think that the grace is the same, it’s not very good. I don’t support that,” said Nyirenda.
WE HAVE CORRUPT YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE OPPOSITION – SP
SOCIALIST Party General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says opposition MPs used their stomachs to vote in favour of Bill 7, stating that many opposition MPs are corrupt.
And Socialist Party president Dr Fred M’membe says the amended Constitution does not belong to citizens but to only President Hakainde Hichilema.
In an interview, Sunday, Dr Musumali said the new Constitution would destroy the country.
“Those in the UPND knew that this Bill is about consolidation of power, it’s about giving power more to the presidency, it’s about making Parliament actually useless even more and that’s what it is. The Zambian people are also in a situation where they will not be deciding on a number of things, it will be the President and others in the offices in Lusaka that will be making decisions, nothing to do with democracy and our parliamentarians voted with their stomach and that’s our conclusion. They were corrupted, we have corrupt young people in the opposition, so we have lost parliament,” said Dr Musumali.
“The truth is, we have a Parliament today, that you can just describe as a polemist. Our parliamentarians, both in the ruling party and those in the opposition, except for a few maybe, have betrayed the Zambian masses. They participated in an illegitimate process; they trampled on the roles of this country, they disregarded the constitutional process and why did they do that? They didn’t do it because they love this country.
Zambians cannot live under this Constitution for years and years, it’s toxic. This Constitution is going to destroy our country. The UPND and Hakainde, they want to consolidate power, they have basically bought a two-thirds majority and with that two-thirds majority. The Socialist Party getting into power; the first assignment is to ensure that Zambians are asking about a new Constitution”.
Meanwhile, Dr M’membe said President Hichilema had taken over the country and it is up to citizens to take it back.
“It is a pity that the current Constitution that we have is not a Constitution that belongs to all Zambians; it’s a Constitution that belongs to Hakainde Hichilema alone. We cannot say it’s a Constitution that belongs to the UPND, it’s a Constitution that belongs to Hakainde, he just forced them.
There was no debate in UPND, there was no debate in Cabinet, it’s Hakainde’s Constitution. He has bought the Constitution, he has bought the country, this is his country, this is his Constitution, the supreme law of the land belongs to Hakainde today. Today, all Zambians have become Hakainde’s slaves, he owns this country, he owns the supreme law of the land, he owns the Constitution,” said Dr M’membe.
“When you sell the country, you sell the nation’s Constitution, you sell the Supreme law of the land then you have destroyed the country. Hakainde has taken over the country. [Kenneth] Kaunda warned us that he was only afraid of President Hichilema as he would destroy the country, we didn’t listen. Hakainde has taken over the country, the task we now have is to take away the country from him before he sells the country to foreigners”.
We Have Sovereignty Over Our Minerals – Dr. Habaazoka
Dr. Lubinda Habaazoka writes
I am very happy with the headline in today’s Newsdiggers because it confirms that Zambia has not auctioned its minerals in exchange for aid.
I for sure know that the Chinese or any other country has no exclusive rights to our minerals!
That said, Zambians love Americans, Chinese, Indian, Russian and all other investors in Zambia! They are free to come do business without strings attached!
The process is easy, PACRA, then appropriate license, many Zambians looking partners also.Anyway my full comment over the issue in Newsdiggers this week!!!!
If there is a confirmation I needed, I have it today! – and that is we have sovereignty over our minerals! Our government is not captured!
We have noted with great concern the speed and zeal with which Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government are quick to pursue and persecute those involved in corruption aside from themselves.
We have said it before, and we reiterate it again. Any credible fight against corruption must begin with Mr Hichilema himself. Otherwise, it is impossible for Mr Hichilema to wage a genuine, honest, and orderly fight against corruption because he is heavily conflicted.
It is not a secret that Mr Hichilema has many business interests, through various fronts and associates, many of which he has not been publicly disclosed to this day. And obviously, he has continued to enter into new business interests with all sorts of associates while in office.
These businesses benefit directly or indirectly from government business, policies, and fiscal decisions over which Mr Hichilema himself presides. In a situation like this, it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to avoid corruption. This is a clear recipe for bad governance.
Consequently, instead of protecting and promoting the business interests of the people who elected him, Mr Hichilema appears to be prioritising and protecting his own personal business interests and those of his associates. He is competing with the same businessmen he was elected to help, promote, and develop. This places him in a predatory position, which is extremely unfortunate and a deeply troubling reality for the country.
Let us not deceive ourselves, nor allow ourselves to be deceived. There can be no genuine or serious fight against corruption under such circumstances. What we are seeing is simply a mock engagement that is devoid of credibility and moral authority.
Dr Fred M’membe President of Socialist Party Zambia .
ZAMBIA MUST PROSPER PRESIDENT KELVIN FUBE BWALYA WRITES……..,
ON December 18, I publicly exited a Tonse Alliance meeting. I am now addressing that decision publicly for the first and final time.
For an extended period, I deliberately refrained from closely aligning with any single opposition grouping to preserve unity. I believed then and still believe that unity necessitates discipline, sacrifice, and the subordination of personal ambition to national purpose.
However, the events surrounding Bill 7 and the Chawama by-election exposed deep self-interest, disorganisation, and a failure of leadership within sections of the opposition. The absence of clear collective direction created confusion, and confusion opened the door to betrayal.
I wish to acknowledge and commend Honourable Binwell Mpundu, Honourable Miles Sampa, and Honourable Francis Kapyanga for standing firm under pressure. In moments where intimidation is engineered, courage is rare and it must be recognised.
I also remind the Patriotic Front, the Lungu family, and the people of Chawama that political legacies are built on memory, sacrifice, and integrity. The legacy of Edgar Chagwa Lungu cannot be protected through fear, opportunism, or disorganisation. A legacy without memory becomes nothing more than a slogan.
To the Lungu family, I say this with respect and sincerity: fear often disguises itself as silence, compromise, or denial. The late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu understood the political terrain far better than many who now invoke his name. He risked everything so that Zambians could reclaim a future without fear or division. That purpose must not be lost.
For the avoidance of doubt, let me state clearly: Plan B, which we developed with the late President Lungu, was always designed to conclude once Hakainde Hichilema either succeeded or failed in his constitutional amendment agenda. Plan B functioned as a Trojan Horse to protect the real strategy. Defections and confusion were anticipated and do not defeat the plan.
The real strategy is Plan Zed, a plan to rescue Zambia from the ill motives behind Bill 7 after August 2026.
Division does not change convictions; it only multiplies confusion. While Bill 7 exposed betrayal, it also revealed the true state of play, allowing us to refocus with clarity on winning in 2026 and restoring freedom to the people of Zambia.
I therefore call for reconciliation, disciplined unity, and clarity of purpose. The door remains open to all patriots who genuinely wish to rescue this country regardless of past disagreements or mistakes. At the same time, we must be sober enough to recognise that some have sold out and will actively work against victory.
Hope alone is not a strategy. Strategy is clarity, unity of purpose, disciplined action, and the courage to put Zambia first.
