Rebecca Malope sues P&G SA for over R1 Million

Gospel legend Dr Rebecca Malope is taking legal action against Procter & Gamble South Africa (P&G), demanding over R1 million in damages for the alleged unauthorized use of her image on Ariel washing powder products.

Known as the “Queen of Gospel,” Malope served as a brand ambassador for Ariel from 2016 to 2022. She claims the company continued to use her likeness after their contract ended, without her permission or compensation.

“I tried to resolve this amicably, but they refused,” Malope told the media, explaining her decision to proceed with litigation. The lawsuit, filed in the Johannesburg High Court, seeks compensation for breach of contract and violation of image rights. Skype shuts down after 22 years

Skype shuts down after 22 years

Microsoft has officially shuts down Skype today, May 5, redirecting users to the free version of Microsoft Teams.

Launched in 2003, Skype was a pioneer in internet calling and video chats, peaking at 300 million users in 2016 before declining to 36 million by 2023 amid growing competition from WhatsApp, Zoom, and others.

Users can migrate chats and contacts to Teams using their Skype credentials or export data until January 2026. Paid features like Skype Credit and Numbers remain available for existing subscribers via Teams or the Skype web portal until their plans expire.

The move reflects Microsoft’s shift toward Teams, which now boasts over 320 million users and has become the company’s flagship communication platform.

Trent Alexander-Arnold announces shock departure from Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract in June 2025, bringing an end to a 20-year association with his boyhood club.

The 26-year-old vice-captain made the announcement via social media, clearing the path for a free transfer to Real Madrid.

Despite Liverpool’s efforts to secure a last-minute contract renewal particularly after Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah committed their futures to the club trusted sources, including Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, report that the move to Madrid is already finalized, with only formalities remaining.

Alexander-Arnold, a winner of two Premier League titles, a Champions League, and several other major honors with Liverpool, explained that his focus on helping the club pursue a 20th league title was the reason he delayed the announcement.

While his departure had been widely expected, it has triggered mixed reactions among supporters. Some are disappointed to see a homegrown talent leave without generating a transfer fee, while others express gratitude for his contributions and respect his ambition to embrace a new challenge abroad.

A HOUSEMAID HAS ENDED THIS WOMANS POWERFUL CAREER AS A JUDGE IN SECONDS

HONOURABLE Lady Justice LYDIA Mugambe is a high court judge and a powerful woman in Uganda, living in London and studying for a PHD at Oxford University.

She employed a live-in housemaid from Uganda, paid for her visas and flights and even picked up the lady from the airport herself.

Things have escalated very high and she has been found guilty in the UK and sentenced to 6 years in prison for what they are calling modern-day-Slavery.

British Police arrested her after her maid complained that she was being forced to do house chores in the judge’s Oxfordshire home.

Zambian Post has seen a report that Oxford University is also considering expelling the judge (student) from their Institution where she has been studying for her PHD because they can’t keep students who are convicted of crimes.

In UK people don’t just work anyhow, even a maid has so many rights which the employer must follow differently from how it is done in Africa.

A maid can’t just be fired or even told to do anything in UK and if fired they must be given pension and compensation fees not less than K500,000.

UPND CONFIDENT OF BIG WIN IN 2026 ELECTIONS

UPND CONFIDENT OF BIG WIN IN 2026 ELECTIONS

By: Sun FM TV Reporter

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has predicted a landslide victory in the 2026 general election, confidently asserting that it will surpass the 50+1 threshold required to secure victory.

UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe stated that the party is well aware of the capacity and limitations of the opposition, particularly the Tonse Alliance, dismissing their widely publicized Plan B as non-existent.

Mr. Simuuwe criticized the Patriotic Front (PF), arguing that the opposition party has failed to fully grasp the reasons behind its 2021 electoral defeat.

He attributed the PF’s loss of power to its alleged neglect of the youth, citing the employment freeze during its tenure as a contributing factor.

Mr. Simuuwe maintained that UPND is on track to dominate the 2026 general elections, reaffirming the party’s confidence in retaining power with a commanding majority.

The Delilah Deception: How UPND Betrayed the Trust of the Zambian People

The Delilah Deception: How UPND Betrayed the Trust of the Zambian People

In the Bible, Delilah gained Samson’s trust, only to betray him by revealing the secret of his strength to his enemies. Her beauty, charm, and sweet words masked her true intentions.

Similarly, the UPND came to power cloaked in promises of hope, unity, economic revival, and good governance. They captured the hearts of Zambians young and old, employed and unemployed with pledges that seemed genuine and sincere.

But what followed was betrayal, jobs for the Youth? Still just empty promises four years in office, yet unemployment remains high.

The Cost of Living? Skyrocketing. Mealie meal, fuel, and electricity prices continue to rise.
Loadshedding? Persistent and crippling our homes and businesses remain in darkness.

Respect for the Constitution? We now hear whispers of constitutional amendments, not to strengthen democracy, but to entrench political power.

Freedom of Expression? Shrinking fast. Journalists, activists, and even ordinary citizens face harassment simply for speaking the truth.

The UPND, like Delilah, slowly shaved off the strength of the people’s trust while they rested in hope. Today, Zambians like Samson have awakened, betrayed and weakened by the very people they empowered.

History warns us of women like Delilah, Jezebel, and Athaliah figures who rose through charm and ended in destruction. UPND’s sweet talk has turned into bitter reality.

Their promises were not tools of transformation, but weapons of control. They gained power through deception not to serve the people, but to rule over them.

It is time for the people of Zambia to break free from the Delilahs of our time. We deserve leadership grounded in truth, transparency, and loyalty to the people not betrayal masked as progress.

Let this be the wake-up call, never again shall Zambia be misled by charm without character or promises without delivery.

Today, Zambians are insulted simply for asking basic questions like when the price of mealie meal will be reduced to K50, or when fuel will be K12 and when will load shedding is going to end? as UPND had promised.

Govt distances itself  from the recent attacks on Ambassadors by  Robert Chabinga

Republic of Zambia

PRESS STATEMENT
For Immediate Release

Government Clarifies Position on Remarks Concerning High Commissioners/Ambassadors accredited to Zambia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation wishes to clearly distance the Government of the Republic of Zambia from the recent attacks on High Commissioners/Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Zambia, made by Mr. Robert Chabinga, Member of Parliament for Mafinga and leader of the opposition Patriotic Front. The comments made during a Press Conference held on Friday, 2nd May 2025, have been widely circulated and have raised significant concern.

The Government wishes to make it categorically clear that the views expressed by Mr. Chabinga do not reflect the official position, policy, or diplomatic posture of the Republic of Zambia. Zambia remains a sovereign state, fully committed to engaging constructively with development partners, both at bilateral and multilateral levels in accordance with our Foreign Policy.

Zambia, as a responsible and active member of the international community, upholds the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961), which provides a framework for the conduct of diplomats while serving in a host country and the mutual respect that underpins relations between the receiving and sending states. In this regard, we affirm our appreciation of the important role that members of the Diplomatic Community continue to play towards Zambia’s development agenda. We remain fully committed to ensuring that the Diplomats enjoy privileges and immunities while serving in Zambia and will endeavor to create a conducive environment in which diplomats can carry out their functions without fear, prejudice, or undue interference.

At the same time, we recognize that diplomats have a duty to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving state, including the requirement not to interfere in the internal affairs of the host country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation takes this opportunity to remind the public, political leaders, and other stakeholders that matters relating to the accreditation, engagement, and conduct of Foreign Diplomats fall solely within the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. No individual or political entity is authorized to speak or act on behalf of the Government in these matters.

While Zambia welcomes robust political discourse as part of a healthy democratic environment, it is imperative that all political actors exercise responsibility in their public statements, particularly on matters of Foreign Relations. Inflammatory statements have the potential to undermine Zambia’s diplomatic engagements and harm our standing within the global community.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation remains committed to maintaining cordial, respectful, and mutually beneficial relationships with all nations.

ZAMBIANS TURNING TO M’MEMBE FOR HOPE, SAYS ZIMBA

ZAMBIANS TURNING TO M’MEMBE FOR HOPE, SAYS ZIMBA

Ndola… Monday May 5, 2025 – Socialist Party (SP) central committee member Kepson Zimba has described party president Dr Fred M’membe as a “voice of hope” for Zambia, saying the country needs visionary and principled leadership now more than ever.

In a statement, Zimba said Dr M’membe has continued to resonate with ordinary Zambians due to his consistent advocacy for social justice, equity, and economic empowerment.

“We are living in a time of great uncertainty and challenge. Zambians are increasingly looking to Dr Fred M’membe as a beacon of hope,” said Mr Zimba.

“He is a leader of vision and integrity. His commitment to uplifting the lives of the poor and marginalised is unwavering.”

Dr M’membe, who leads the Socialist Party, has in recent months sharpened his message around equitable resource distribution, sustainable development, and economic independence.

His party has called for a radical transformation of Zambia’s political economy to place citizens at the centre of national development.

Mr Zimba said Dr M’membe’s understanding of the struggles faced by ordinary citizens sets him apart from other political figures.

“He has consistently stood with the voiceless. He is not afraid to speak out on behalf of those who suffer in silence. Whether it is the abuse of workers, the neglect of rural communities, or the exploitation of national resources, Dr M’membe has been firm in his stance,” he said.

He added that under Dr M’membe’s leadership, the Socialist Party has outlined a clear plan to build an inclusive society anchored on justice, human rights, and economic self-sufficiency.

“He believes in a Zambia where wealth is not concentrated in the hands of a few, but shared fairly among all citizens,” Mr Zimba said.

“His focus on sustainable development and national unity is exactly what the country needs at this critical juncture.”

Dr M’membe, a lawyer, journalist and accountant, has increasingly positioned himself as a strong opposition voice, challenging neoliberal economic policies and advocating for a state-led model of development.

Mr Zimba urged Zambians to rally behind the Socialist Party’s vision, which he said reflects the aspirations of many who have been left behind in the country’s development agenda.

“The Socialist Party is not just about politics, it’s about building a just society. And with Dr M’membe at the helm, that vision is within reach,” said Mr Zimba.

MUCHIMA MUST SEEK MY FORGIVENESS – CHIEF NYAKASEYA
… he has disturbed spirits of the lion clan

By Chinoyi Chipulu

Chief Nyakaseya of the Lunda people of Northwestern Province has urged health minister Elijah Muchima to go back to his palace and seek forgiveness.

And chief Nyakaseya says Muchima is de-campaigning the UPND in Ikelengi district because he has failed to work with party officials in his constituency.

Recently, a video went viral in which residents in chief Nyakaseya’s area were seen chasing Muchima’s entourage from the chief’s palace in Ikelengi district.

But Muchima reacted, saying he was not chased from the palace but walked away because chief Nyakaseya wanted to fight him.

He accused the chief of insulting him, and organising some boys to ridicule him because they were PF caders and supporters.

But speaking with Daily Revelation over the weekend, chief Nyakaseya said Muchima should ask for forgiveness for provoking the spirits of his clan, the Lion…

TAME INSOLENT CHABINGA, HH URGED

TAME INSOLENT CHABINGA, HH URGED

…as Brian Mundubile warns that the misconduct of Chabinga against diplomats in the name of the UPND has the real danger of straining Zambia’s diplomatic ties with other countries

By GIDEON NYENDWA

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema should immediately term Robert Chabinga, whose threats of unspecified reprisals against foreign diplomats accredited to Zambia and their families, including their children have the potential to place Zambia’s diplomatic relations with other countries not only into jeopardy but also in precarious position, Brian Mundubile has advised.

Mr Mundubile, the Patriotic Front (PF) Mporokoso Member of Parliament has also challenged the UPND government to disown Mr Chabinga’s threats and distance itself from threats to avoid the perception that in fact, government has approved his attacks against diplomats.

He said in an interview that the silence over the diplomatic gaff by Mr Chabinga, who is an alliance partner of the ruling party, would be construed that both President Hichilema and his government were complicit to the threats.

Mr Mundubile described the remarks as baseless, reckless, and harmful to the country’s longstanding diplomatic ties.

He said there is no evidence to support Mr Chabinga’s claims, calling them a desperate bid to stay politically relevant.

“President Edgar Lungu made it clear that there’s nothing sinister about Plan B. It is just a political strategy,” Mr Mundubile said.

“There is no need for the UPND, through Chabinga, to panic and sponsor such statements. Zambia has always enjoyed solid support from its cooperating partners.”

Mr Mundubile, who is the PF national chairperson for Parliamentary Affairs under the Tonse Alliance, labelled Mr Chabinga’s attacks on diplomats as insulting and unpatriotic.

He warned that since Mr Chabinga is affiliated with the UPND alliance, his statements are likely to be perceived as being made on behalf of the ruling party, a perception that could seriously damage the country’s foreign relations.

Mr Mundubile also dismissed Mr Chabinga’s claim of commanding support from 31 Members of Parliament, joking that it may have been a slip of the tongue, suggesting he meant “3 plus 1.”

“In UPND, to gain acceptance, you must carry with you sweet lies. That’s what Chabinga is doing – telling stories to impress his new alliance partners,” he said, branding the Mafinga lawmaker an “amateur in politics.”

He assured Zambia’s international partners that the country remains committed to diplomacy and cooperation.

“These are not the views of reasonable citizens. Only an unreasonable and ungrateful person would say what Chabinga said,” Mr Mundubile added.

THE PF CRISIS AND THE JUDICIARY’S DEFINING MOMENT: TIME TO SETTLE THE STORM

THE PF CRISIS AND THE JUDICIARY’S DEFINING MOMENT: TIME TO SETTLE THE STORM

By Dr Mwelwa

The Patriotic Front’s leadership crisis is no longer just an internal party matter—it has become a national fault line threatening the credibility of our democratic institutions. What began as a power tussle following the loss of power in 2021 has now evolved into a full-blown constitutional and legal dilemma that must no longer be allowed to fester. The Judiciary, and particularly the Chief Justice of the Republic of Zambia, now stands at a historic crossroads: to either settle the matter decisively or risk letting institutional silence breed irreversible political decay.

The background is well known. Following the Patriotic Front’s electoral defeat, the party failed to conduct an orderly leadership transition. President Edgar Lungu did not step aside formally, yet he also did not provide the leadership necessary to organise a credible succession process. The result was a vacuum—one quickly filled by factional interests. Miles Sampa, on one hand, claimed the presidency through a disputed October 2023 conference. On the other hand, several senior party figures—Brian Mundubile, Stephen Kampyongo, Christopher Kang’ombe, Mutotwe Kafwaya, and others—contested both the legality and legitimacy of Sampa’s claim.

As a result, these MPs and PF members approached the Lusaka High Court seeking, among other things, an order to nullify Sampa’s election and a permanent injunction restraining him from masquerading as PF president. Their case, based on alleged violations of several provisions of the PF constitution, seeks to restore procedural order and uphold the party’s internal governance mechanisms.

Now enters a new twist: PF faction leader Robert Chabinga and his Secretary General Morgan Ng’ona have applied to join the proceedings. Their request is legally significant. It consolidates all factions—Sampa’s, Mundubile’s, and now Chabinga’s—before a single court, offering the Judiciary an unprecedented opportunity to examine the entire leadership crisis at once and deliver a binding, final ruling.

If granted, this joinder allows the court to go beyond technicalities and into the heart of the issue: who, under the PF constitution, is legally and legitimately the party’s president? The PF constitution contains clear provisions on leadership succession, internal elections, and dispute resolution. It is time the court interprets those provisions authoritatively—no more evasions, no more half-measures.

This matter is no longer about political ambition—it is about institutional order in the country’s largest opposition party. The outcome of this case will influence not only who leads the PF, but whether Zambia’s democracy can function without courts becoming silent observers of chaos. We cannot allow political parties to become private fiefdoms where procedure is overridden by force, noise, or informal networks of power.

And yet, while opposition members wait endlessly for rulings, we have seen how quickly the justice system can move when the accused is an opposition figure facing criminal charges. From arrest to conviction, some cases have taken days, if not hours. Bail applications are denied in minutes. This selective urgency reveals a troubling double standard. If criminal cases that serve political interests can be fast-tracked, why can’t constitutional disputes with national implications receive the same speed and seriousness?

This case is a matter of public interest. It affects members of Parliament. It affects the leadership of Zambia’s main opposition party. It affects voters who deserve to know whom they are dealing with. Most importantly, it affects the integrity of our multiparty system. When factions speak louder than constitutions, the very idea of political order begins to crumble.

To the Judiciary: the moment to act is now. The joinder application presents a golden opportunity to bring all relevant actors to one legal table. Set the hearing. Interpret the PF constitution. Give the nation clarity. Let the courts remind Zambia that law, not confusion, governs political life.

Let us not wait until conflict turns tragic. Let us not bury our faith in justice beneath endless adjournments. Our democracy depends not only on elections but on institutions willing to act when it matters. The PF leadership crisis has gone on long enough. It is time to settle the storm.

Edwin Lifwekelo raises alarm over government interference

DEMOCRACY UNDER SIEGE?

…PF Media Director raises alarm over government interference

Lusaka… Monday May 5, 2025 – Concerns have been raised over a serious threat to Zambia’s democratic integrity, with the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) alleging government-backed interference in its internal affairs.

Speaking on behalf of the party, PF Media Director Edwin Lifwekelo contended that the UPND government, under President Hakainde Hichilema, is systematically dismantling the opposition using state institutions.

In a statement, Lifwekelo asserted that the UPND administration had effectively hijacked the Patriotic Front by imposing Robert Chabinga as party president without following the due process outlined in the PF constitution.

He questioned the legality and legitimacy of Chabinga’s installation, asking when the General Conference was held and who the delegates were.

According to Lifwekelo, the replacement of PF leadership was facilitated by the Registrar of Societies, a department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, headed by Minister Jack Mwiimbu.

He argued that such actions could not have occurred without the ministry’s knowledge or approval.

He went on to cite Articles 50 and 52 of the PF Constitution, which detail the composition of the General Conference and the procedure for electing a party president.

Mr. Lifwekelo stated that these provisions were not adhered to, making Chabinga’s leadership illegitimate in the eyes of the party and its supporters.

The PF official further accused the UPND government of using state machinery to weaken the opposition from within, describing the situation as “government-sponsored political interference.”

He questioned the authenticity of documents used to effect the leadership change and labelled the entire process as fraudulent and unconstitutional.

“This is fraud of the highest order,” Mr. Lifwekelo said, warning that continued efforts to manipulate internal party structures would ultimately undermine democracy and the rule of law in Zambia.

He concluded by urging Zambians to reject what he described as blatant political deception, and called on those responsible to be held accountable in the future.

how opposition PF in opposition is docile like UPND in opposition and UPND in power is like PF in power preoccupied with partisan and opposition politics than delivery and public affairs

WHY PF MUST REFORM ITSELF TO OPPOSITION MORE THAN REBRAND TO PURSUE RETURN TO POWER WHEREAS UPND MUST REFORM ITSELF AS RULING PARTY FOCUSED ON RULING MORE THAN DISTRACTION TO OPPOSITION OUTSIDE POWER

— how opposition PF in opposition is docile like UPND in opposition and UPND in power is like PF in power preoccupied with partisan and opposition politics than delivery and public affairs —

Fred M’membe called PF and UPND similarity as Siamese twins.

And closer than M’membe, red UPND termed its similarity with green PF as watermelon, another name for PF donchi kubeba.

Authors George Orwell essayed about the psychology of the oppressors whereas Richard Wright essayed about the pyschology of the oppressed.

Northern Rhodesian colonialists symbolised oppression among others with the “rider and horse” (with statue of physical energy at High Court grounds replaced by Freedom Statue at Kamwala in 1974) the fish and fish eagle (put on flag and coat of arms without the fish plus closed claws).

Some psychologists have termed the oppressed ‘love’ of the oppresser as Stockholm Syndrome whereas oppresser ‘love’ of the oppressed as Lima Syndrome.

Whatever the situation, there is a love relationship or influence between the oppresser and the oppressed.

It is said African independence leaders who succeeded European colonialists became colonialists.

That is how the POA to block independence for nine years to independence has continued for 57 years, seven presidents and three parties in power.

That is partly how UPND is lile than unlike PF.

After UNIP seemed to kill the predecessor colonial party and its ‘mother’, a pattern seemed set when the MMD too seemed to kill its predecessor UNIP as PF also seemed to kill its ‘mother’ MMD.

While it is also true losing opposition parties don’t die natural deaths but are killed by the ruling parties; they perhaps also commit suicide by immediate declaration of the desire to return to power immediately after losing power than first become effective opposition providing checks and balances on behalf of the people and building of multiparty democracy.

As a matter of fact, opposition is not necessarily assuming power but providing checks and balances.

For example, UNIP and KK who were in power for 27 years, since 1964, as One Zambia – One Nation; One Nation – One Party; One Party – One Leader KK, since 1973, wanted to return to power in 1996 elections or earlier after losing power to MMD in 1991 instead of first wait or provide opposition to generally inexperienced MMD.

MMD while fumbling with political inexperience also saw to it that UPND didn’t just return to power immediately after losing it but also didn’t provide checks and balances.

MMD seemed full-time counter opposition of UNIP policies or past like human rights and nationalisation.

MMD frustrated UNIP by framing UNIP in both treason and sedition of Zero Option and Black Mamba and later treason that saw its leaders including KK and RB arrested and detained without convictions.

MMD blockade of UNIP and KK was so prioritised that former UNIP diehards like MCS got close to FJT for such a purpose.

As a result of FJT’s, KK like, strong-handed presidentialism, influenced by UNIPists and unionists, soon caused FJT to become, like KK, a de facto one leader and MMD like UNIP, a de facto one party that splintered into other political parties, major among them being National Party.

After MMD and FJT frustrated UNIP and KK into the 1996 election boycott; later condemning KK for his return from retirement, FJT himself in 1999 to 2001 pursued a presidential third term bid despite a high turnover of four Vice Presidents in 10 years.

In fact, upon blocked from the third term bid, he reverted to his first VP LPM who had resigned in 1994 as his successor in 2001.

Otherwise, the course of the nation and multiparty democracy would have been different had FJT maintained LPM as running mate VP, from start to finish, as the party initially desired.

FJT presidential third term bid at the end 2001 further splintered MMD into other new parties with (UPND), FDD, HP (and PF) among the major ones.

In 2001, MMD defeated UPND, PF etc among with PF in seventh position of 11 presidential candidates.

In 2011, PF defeated MMD.

MMD that restored both multiparty and multiple presidents in 1991 wanted to immediately return to power in 2016 or earlier after it lost power in 2011, that is, after 20 years and three presidents in power.

More than first reorganize itself as opposition in providing checks and balances, as it first did, MMD introduced and degenerated into factionalism and defections to PF, its 2001 splinter and 2011 successor.

In 2021, UPND of HH defeated PF of EL.

PF commissioned a postmortem of 2021 elections loss, that recommended among others rebranding.

UNIP and MMD too had been rebranding.

EL who was undemocratically sole, unopposed and unchallenged candidate, after loss, undertook a slow retirement process of about one year towards a extraordinary general conference to democratically elect his successor.

PF rebranding and succession are side by side.

Meaning PF shall spend about one year recovering from the election loss and preparing to elect a PF party president instead of becoming a formidable opposition it boasts of being from 2001 to 2011.

PF was undemocratic throughout and most unlikely to be strengthened by a democratic general conference.

Unfortunately, PF born of MMD one leader third term mentality or UNIP one party participatory democray was always a weak democracy and opposition.

For example, PF and MCS in 2001 were non factors in the seventh presidential position and one MP.

As UPND focused on the 2001 presidential election petition, PF focussed on early election campaign either LPM it termed cabbage calling them ot early elections in case he dropped dead from his “cabbage” state.

MCS went on a rampage. LPM suffered a heart attack in 2006.

MCS too shortly suffered a more serious heart attack.

LPM generally ignored him.

They later reconciled after MCS heart attack and evacuation to SA by LPM.

Well, it is claimed that MCS opposition of LPM is what made LPM perform and succeed.

(It is never admitted that MCS corruption is what caused VP LPM resignation in 1994 or that LPM evacuation saved MCS.)

On one hand, PF and MCS while opposing LPM denied LPM succeeded or achieved anything including the fight against corruption.

On the other hand, PF and MCS were non-factors compared to UPND and AKM with a good election results and some chance in presidential petition at court.

UPND seemed to spend time and effort in court than in opposition and parliament.

AKM later fell sick to spend more time in hospital.

When he died was succeeded by HH who continued to wait for his turn to form government than being opposition.

That is the pattern PF has followed of waiting for power than working as opposition and UPND has followed the PF pattern of discounting opposition PF chances of returning to power.

Of course, one pattern is all parties have suffered shock upsets when they least expected  them.

SANDF withdraws from DRC as M23 offensive collapses SADC  mission

SANDF withdraws from DRC as M23 offensive collapses regional mission

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is pulling out nearly 2,900 troops from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) mission in the region unravels under mounting pressure from M23 rebel advances.

The SADC Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC), launched in 2023 to quell escalating violence in the country’s eastern provinces, has effectively collapsed. The turning point came as the M23 rebel group allegedly supported by Rwanda captured the strategic cities of Goma on January 27, 2025, and Bukavu on February 16, 2025.

South African forces have borne the brunt of the conflict, suffering significant casualties. Fourteen soldiers were killed during fierce fighting in January, with three more losing their lives in subsequent attacks. The conflict has exposed severe shortcomings in SANDF’s operational capacity, including outdated military equipment and persistent logistical challenges.

The withdrawal, which began in late April, is being conducted under a negotiated agreement with M23 to ensure safe passage. Convoys escorted by Rwandan forces are currently moving SANDF personnel through to Tanzania. However, approximately 1,000 South African troops remain in the DRC under the United Nations peacekeeping mission MONUSCO, now hampered by M23-imposed movement restrictions.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate. Over seven thousand people have been killed since January, and millions more have been displaced. M23 has also begun establishing parallel governance structures in captured territories, deepening the region’s instability.

The loss of South African lives has sparked national mourning and renewed debate over the country’s role in foreign military interventions. Opposition parties have slammed the mission as poorly planned and under-resourced. Analysts warn that the withdrawal highlights a broader crisis in regional peacekeeping efforts.

With M23 now a dominant force in eastern DRC, the collapse of SAMIDRC marks a significant shift in the conflict’s dynamics and a sobering reckoning for the SANDF and its regional al

SAPS suspects no foul play in deaths of three constables found in Hennops River

The South African Police Service (SAPS) suspects no foul play in the deaths of three constables Boipelo Senoge, Cebekhulu Linda, and Keamogetswe Buys whose bodies were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion.

The officers went missing on April 23, 2025, while traveling from Bloemfontein to Limpopo. Their VW Polo was retrieved from the river, and authorities believe the vehicle crashed, rolled, and veered off the N1 highway during a storm, possibly while speeding.

No gunshot wounds were found, and Deputy Police Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya stated the constables were young officers not involved in any major investigations, suggesting the incident was a tragic accident.

However, a highway patrol officer raised concerns about the lack of crash-related evidence, like calls or debris, and ongoing forensic investigations aim to determine the exact cause.

Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, met with the parents of Cwecwe, the young girl who was allegedly r*ped at Bergview College.

He promised that the party would do everything in its power to ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable.

Malema also vowed to expose any state institutions that failed to fulfill their duties in handling the case, particularly after the slow response from both the police and the school.

The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with public demonstrations demanding justice and reforms to ensure the protection of children in schools.

Ensure Football Emerges Winner, KAMANGA Urges Councillors Ahead of This Saturday’s Elective AGM In Kabwe

Ensure Football Emerges Winner, KAMANGA Urges Councillors Ahead of This Saturday’s Elective AGM In Kabwe

Sporty salutations to you, our football family. This week is very crucial in redefining the course of our game as we go to the polls. We are hopeful that this election season will not drag on further as it is hurting our core football business. In a season, we should be celebrating our under-17 boys and girls qualifying to the FIFA World Cup and our under-20 lads in the thick of the Africa Cup of Nations, we seem to be turning football into a courtroom.

Clearly, there is a need to make the discourse football centered and not an opportunity to grandstand or pontificate about values you do not practice. Let us not forget that the call to service should be about growing the game and providing coherent programs that will see more national teams qualify to the FIFA World Cup and win trophies.

We should be talking about cascading national teams from the under-15 level to the u-13, 11 and 9 in the next development cycle. We have seen the monumental milestones that having an under-15 national team has done for our country resulting in all our under-17 teams qualifying to the world cup benefitting from a solid foundation at the junior level.

All these things will culminate into a strong senior national team in line with our 10-year strategic plan. The rise of the women’s game did not happen overnight, as we deliberately realigned the entire structure by investing more in grassroots development and quality coaching.

The challenge we face now is to sustain these monumental achievements that has seen the Copper Queens qualify to two Olympics (Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024), a historic FIFA World Cup appearance in 2023 (Australia& New Zealand), WAFCON third place finish (Morocco 2022) and the under-17 women qualifying back-to-back to the FIFA World Cup (Dominican Republic 2024 & Morocco 2025).

Like all models, our development approach has its limitations, but we have consistently refined it over time and remain confident that further improvements lie ahead. We are at a point of consolidating these gains and ensuring that we hit the highs the country desperately desires.

Finally, we urge all prospective candidates to maintain a civil discourse and ensure that their campaign messages are firmly-grounded in truth. Our message to the football family is to keep their eyes open and ensure that football ultimately emerges as the winner.

Our country will be welcoming a high-powered delegation from FIFA, CAF and Cosafa that have been magnanimous enough to return after the botched AGM in Livingstone on March 29. Our prayer is that our football will be spared the embarrassment of Livingstone that cast our game in a bad light. Have a productive week!

M’MEMBE URGES ZAMBIANS TO STAY HOPEFUL AMID POLITICAL TENSIONS

M’MEMBE URGES ZAMBIANS TO STAY HOPEFUL AMID POLITICAL TENSIONS

…as he expresses concern over desperate and shameful attempts to intimidate members of the diplomatic community

Lusaka… Monday May 5, 2025 – Socialist Party President Dr. Fred M’membe has called on Zambians across the country to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a better life despite ongoing challenges.

He encouraged citizens not to lose hope, stressing that the aspirations for dignity, justice, and economic liberation were not only justified but essential for national progress.

Dr. M’membe emphasized the importance of resilience and unity, urging communities to maintain determination in the effort to build a nation where every citizen could thrive, rather than merely survive.

In a statement, Dr. M’membe also expressed serious concern over “desperate and shameful” attempts by the ruling UPND government to intimidate members of the diplomatic community.

According to him, these actions targeted diplomats who had voiced concerns about the erosion of democracy in Zambia.

He stated that the current regime was exhibiting a fear of accountability and had shown a preference for suppressing criticism rather than serving the people.

Dr. M’membe argued that true democracy could not be protected by silencing dissent but rather must be strengthened by embracing open dialogue and critique.

Reaffirming the Socialist Party’s position, Dr. M’membe stated that his party stood in solidarity with both local and international voices calling for transparency, integrity, and the reinstatement of genuine democratic values in Zambia.

He concluded his address with a rallying call for vigilance, unity, and continued organization towards a more inclusive Zambia—“a Zambia that works for the many, not the few,” he said.

And Tembo has disclosed that the Tonse Alliance has resolved its differences and is more united and moving together.

But Sikota has insisted that UKA, together with other progressive parties, would undoubtedly give Zambians the next government.

POST POINTS FROM DR NEVERS MUMBA – THE HOT SEAT

POST POINTS FROM DR NEVERS MUMBA – THE HOT SEAT

• We need these cyber laws. They are not meant to stifle human rights, they’re intended to clean up the online sewer system that’s overtaking us

• Every civilized nation has cyber laws. No one is saying opinions will be curtailed, this law does not imprison anyone for speaking the truth.

• Any moral Zambian, any God-fearing Zambian, has no problem with these laws. Only those who abuse others online are worried.

• The reason laws exist is to limit our rights so that other people’s rights are respected. That is democracy in action.

• I appeal to every Christian, don’t join the disjointed discussion claiming this law is anti-human rights. We need to push for this as the church.

• The church must lead the cleaning up of online platforms just as we clean up our streets. It’s part of protecting morality and the next generation.

• If you’re telling the truth online and not insulting anyone, why should you worry? This law protects integrity and morality.

• No child pornography. No general pornography. That’s what the law is protecting against. What’s wrong with that?

• Those promoting a culture of disrespect and vulgarity online are harming our children. We say to them—bye-bye!

• The online world must be governed just like our physical streets. Democracy is not devoid of the rule of law—it rests on it.

• This law is not about politics. It’s about protecting citizens. Let’s contribute to a better Zambia with sense and respect.

• Even if HH changes his mind on this law, I’ll still support it—because it aligns with Christian values and national decency.

• Insulting people and spreading unverified information online must be stopped. If I’m the last one fighting for this law, I’ll keep fighting.

• You cannot go out there and record my private conversation to trap me politically. That’s not democracy.

• You go to the U.S. today, at the airport, they search your phones for information. Why should Zambia be any different?

• This law ensures that politicians under investigation cannot publicize law enforcement actions without permission—that protects integrity.

• Those who want the online sewer to remain are the very ones God called me to challenge. This is about cleaning up both lives and language.

• The cyber law is not suppressing your voice—if your voice is not insulting, vulgar, or false, then you have nothing to fear.

• Reading both the Cyber Crimes Act and the Cyber Security Act shows clearly—these are not tools of oppression, but of order and dignity.

CHIPAKO THREATENS SWEDISH AMBASSADOR, BBC MEDIA ACTION

CHIPAKO THREATENS SWEDISH AMBASSADOR, BBC MEDIA ACTION

The Media Liaison Committee (MLC) Chairperson Felistus Chipako has accused the Swedish Embassy of funding divisions within the Zambian media fraternity during the World Press Freedom Day celebrations.

Chipako has alleged that foreign interference is threatening the unity of Zambian journalists and media organisations.

She has stated that the controversy emerged when two separate marches were held in Lusaka—one organised by the MLC and another reportedly sponsored by the Swedish Embassy and BBC Media Action, which opposed statutory media self-regulation.

Chipako has claimed that Swedish-backed groups are working against the Zambia Institute of Journalism Bill (ZIJ), a statutory self-regulation law developed by journalists through past conferences known as “Insakas.”

She has vowed to challenge these disruptions and has announced that the MLC plans to write to the Swedish Government and Zambian authorities to investigate the Swedish Embassy and BBC Media Action’s involvement in what she describes as media destabilisation efforts.

WHY TWO MEDIA MARCHES? UNDERSTANDING THE PRESS FREEDOM DAY CONFUSION IN ZAMBIA

WHY TWO MEDIA MARCHES? UNDERSTANDING THE PRESS FREEDOM DAY CONFUSION IN ZAMBIA

The FOX Newspaper

On World Press Freedom Day this year, Zambians in Lusaka witnessed something unfamiliar — two separate marches organized by media stakeholders. While this might have surprised or confused some, it reflects deeper debates within Zambia’s media landscape.

WHAT IS WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY (WPFD)?

Observed annually on May 3rd, WPFD celebrates press freedom and reminds governments of their duty to respect and uphold the rights of journalists. In Zambia, it has traditionally been marked by unity in the media sector — with journalists marching together and reflecting on their role in society.

SO, WHAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR?

This year’s theme was “Reporting in the Brave New World – The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media.” But instead of one united march in Lusaka, there were two:
• The first march was led by the Media Liaison Committee (MLC), a coalition of Zambian media associations that has long organized WPFD events.
• The second march reportedly involved freelance journalists and media NGOs supported by the Swedish Embassy and BBC Media Action.

This unusual development has sparked concern, conversation, and confusion — both inside and outside media circles.

WHY TWO MARCHES?

At the center of the issue is the Zambia Institute of Journalism (ZIJ) Bill — a proposed law created by journalists themselves under a process called statutory self-regulation.

Supporters say:
• The law was developed through consultative “Insaka” conferences held in 2019.
• It would allow journalists to regulate themselves without waiting for government intervention.
• It gives the media sector professional structure and independence.

However, some groups appear to oppose this bill — or at least question it.

Those reportedly aligned with the Swedish Embassy and BBC Media Action seem to favor non-statutory regulation — that is, systems that are voluntary and not written into law. Their reasons may include concerns about future political interference or the belief that laws — even self-written ones — risk compromising press freedom.

WHAT ARE THE CONCERNS?

The MLC accuses the Swedish Embassy and BBC Media Action of:
• Creating division in the media sector.
• Funding a parallel WPFD event that goes against prior media consensus.
• Weakening local media institutions by redirecting support to smaller or freelance-based organizations.

The MLC also says it will report these actions to the Zambian Government and the Swedish Government, raising diplomatic and legal concerns.

However, as of now, there has been no public response from the Swedish Embassy or BBC Media Action explaining their position or intentions.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE PUBLIC?

For the average Zambian, here’s what’s important:
1. This is an internal media debate about how best to structure media regulation and protect press freedom.
2. No law has yet been passed — the ZIJ Bill is still being discussed and can still be improved with more input.
3. Foreign involvement in media support is not unusual, but it must be carefully balanced with national interests and unity.

MOVING FORWARD

Press freedom is a cornerstone of democracy. But so is clarity, unity, and local ownership in media development. As this debate continues, what matters most is ensuring the Zambian media remains professional, independent, and accountable to the people — not to politics or external agendas.

Zambians are encouraged to stay informed, listen to all sides, and engage constructively as these conversations evolve.

ONLY THE FAZ PRESIDENT CAN CHAIR THE AGM – KAZABU

ONLY THE FAZ PRESIDENT CAN CHAIR THE AGM – KAZABU

Livingstone… Sunday May 4, 2025 ( SMART EAGLES )

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Life member Lackson Kazabu has criticized Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu’s statement suggesting that the current FAZ president, Andrew Kamanga, cannot chair the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated  for May 9 in Kabwe, due to the perceived expiration of their term.

Addressing the media today, Kazabu argued that FIFA’s approval of FAZ’s roadmap for the elective AGM supersedes the Minister’s claims.

He said the FAZ constitution mandates the sitting president to chair all meetings, including AGMs and extraordinary meetings.

He states that the Minister has no authority to decide who should chair the AGM.

“The Minister should have been the first one to understand that FIFA unlike in the past require any national football association, to submit what they call a Roadmap or a programme leading to the holding of an elective Annual General Meeting. This is so because unlike in the past, now you start with elections being held at the provincial level and finally you get to the actual AGM to complete the process to elect new leaders,” he said.

“FIFA guided, FAZ submitted a roadmap and FIFA agreed to the roadmap. Where FIFA sees that something  is not right they always advise. It therefore takes one aback for the Minister to issue such a statement which is in direct conflict with the advice given by the world soccer Governing body.”

Meanwhile, Kazabu has appealed to the councillors and delegates to reject mudslinging and dividing rule tactic by anyone.

He said councillors must play their role in electing an executive Committee and not to allow anyone to usurp their powers.

Kazabu said only the councillors have the powers to decide who should be elected.

“Councillors, resist any pressure from those trying to influence your decision on who should be at football House. Reject malicious propaganda against any one candidate because the football family is one. It doesn’t matter who will carry the day next weekend,” Kazabu explained.

“I do not understand why the Minister is insisting. He goes ahead and say government is on firm ground. Maybe he is being innovative. But if he is being innovative, I am sorry to say that his innovation is misplaced. There would be no time that any other person would chair other than the President. It is like the Minister telling the nation that you can have even the company secretary chairing an annual General meeting. How can an employee preside over his employers. That is the picture the Minister has presented. So it will not happen.!”

HANDS OFF CAPTAIN IBRAHIM  TRAORÉ’, SOCIALIST YOUTH LEAGUE WARNS WEST

HANDS OFF TRAORÉ’, SOCIALIST YOUTH LEAGUE WARNS WEST

Lusaka… Sunday May 4, 2025 – The Socialist Party’s National Youth League has issued a condemnation of alleged foreign interference in Burkina Faso, accusing the United States and France of plotting to unseat transitional leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

In a statement earlier today, Youth League Chairperson for Information and Publicity, Dr. Joseph Musonda, warned that Western powers are “once again sharpening their imperialist claws” to derail African sovereignty in the Sahel region.

“Their mission is clear: to overthrow a people’s leader and install a puppet to dance to the rhythms of Washington and Paris,” charged Dr. Musonda.

Drawing historical parallels, Dr. Musonda referenced the assassinations of revolutionary African leaders, including Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, and Muammar Gaddafi, arguing that their true crime was resisting colonial and neo-colonial control.

“We watched in history as Captain Thomas Sankara; a beacon of African dignity and pride, was gunned down for daring to dream of an independent Africa,” he stated.

“The NATO-led assassination of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 was another message: unite Africa, and you’ll be branded a madman.”

He urged Zambian youth not to remain indifferent to the political developments in Burkina Faso, saying the destabilisation of that country was part of a broader attempt to derail pan-African progress.

“If we remain silent now, we will be complicit again,” Dr. Musonda said.

“Let us rise with clarity and conviction that imperialist hands must be taken off Captain Traoré, the Sahel and our Africa!”

Burkina Faso, under Traoré’s transitional leadership since a 2022 military takeover, has distanced itself from Western military partnerships.

Traoré has aligned more closely with regional counterparts in Mali and Niger, forming a tripartite alliance often described as anti-imperialist.

CORRUPTION CASE

By Nelson Zulu

The Community Action Against Corruption (CAAC) has accused the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of professional incompetence, following the collapse of over 50 corruption charges against former Presidential Economic Adviser Hibeene Mwiinga in March this year.

On 28th March, the Lusaka Magistrate Court acquitted Hibeene Mwiinga, along with his wife Mercy Munsanje and son Hakaantu, on 71 charges relating to the alleged corrupt acquisition of property, including houses, vehicles, and funds totaling over 41 million Kwacha and 566,000 US dollars, suspected to be proceeds of crime.

CAAC Chief Executive Officer Brightone Tembo has questioned the depth of investigations and the level of due diligence conducted before such cases are taken to court.

Mr. Tembo has expressed concern that prolonged trials can cause unnecessary public humiliation and emotional hardship for the accused and their families, especially when cases end in acquittals.

Mr. Tembo believes such high-profile failures cast doubt on the professionalism and independence of investigative and prosecutorial bodies, raising concerns over whether some cases are politically motivated despite insufficient evidence.

US President Donald Trump says he will hit movies made in foreign countries with 100% tariffs, as he ramps up trade disputes with nations around the world.

Trump said he was authorising the US Department of Commerce and Trade Representative to start the process to impose the levy because America’s movie industry was dying “a very fast death”.

He blamed a “concerted effort” by other countries that offer incentives to attract filmmakers and studios, which he described as a “National Security threat”.

Mukobela Committed No Crime — Health Promotion Isn’t a Political Offense

Opinion: Mukobela Committed No Crime — Health Promotion Isn’t a Political Offense

By Francis Maingaila

Lusaka, Zambia24 – (04-05-2025) – Saulos, the self-proclaimed “Komboni Ambassador,” is wrong — both in fact and in principle. His attack on aspiring Matero MP Evans Mukobela for officiating the International Day of the Midwife event at Twikatane Grounds reveals not just political insecurity, but a dangerous misunderstanding of civic responsibility.

Let’s set the record straight: no Zambian law prohibits a private citizen or aspiring leader from officiating at a community health event. Mukobela was invited by Matero General Hospital — a competent government institution with every right to choose its guest of honor. He did not impose himself. He committed no crime.

To suggest otherwise is dishonest and reeks of petty politics.

Health Promotion Is Not a Political Monopoly

Across Zambia and the region, non-elected individuals regularly participate in public health initiatives. In Kapiri Mposhi, traditional leaders have led HIV awareness events. In Lusaka’s Kanyama township, youth activists — not politicians — have launched sanitation campaigns. These efforts are praised, not condemned, because they are rooted in service, not status.

Mukobela, like any concerned citizen, has the right to contribute to maternal health advocacy. His pledge to support local clinics and midwives aligns with the event’s purpose — it was not a political rally. Trying to frame it as such is a desperate attempt to police who gets to speak on public platforms.

Twikatane Needs Services, Not Gatekeepers

Saulos’ complaint is not about protocol — it’s about control. But Twikatane doesn’t need gatekeepers. It needs drugs in clinics, better maternity care, and working water taps. If Mukobela is stepping up to speak on these issues, that should be welcomed — not silenced.

Instead of attacking those who act, critics like Saulos should focus on delivering results. The community can see through political noise.

Conclusion

Mukobela’s presence at a health event was legitimate, lawful, and commendable. The real threat to democracy isn’t aspiring leaders contributing to public service — it’s those who try to shut them down with manufactured outrage.

Public health belongs to the people. And anyone who advances it, elected or not, deserves respect — not resistance.

COUNCILS FACE SANCTIONS AS ROAD DELAYS FRUSTRATE WESTERN PROVINCE MINISTER

COUNCILS FACE SANCTIONS AS ROAD DELAYS FRUSTRATE WESTERN PROVINCE MINISTER

Mongu, 4th May 2025

Councils in Western Province have been put on notice as Minister Kapelwa Mbangweta expressed frustration over stalled road projects and warned of possible sanctions against underperforming local authorities.

Addressing a high-level meeting in Mongu that brought together Members of Parliament, District Commissioners, council officials, and provincial leaders, Mbangweta said the government is running out of patience with councils that have failed to deliver on the Presidential directive to improve rural roads.

“Five months into 2025, many councils have money, equipment, and manpower, yet there’s very little progress on the ground,” he said. “The government is concerned with the slow pace and in some cases, total inaction.”

Each of the 16 councils in the province has already received K3.2 million to support road works, but results remain patchy. The directive is part of President Hakainde Hichilema’s broader plan to enhance economic development through better road connectivity.

At the meeting, held at ACCAMS Gardens, councils were required to present detailed reports outlining their projects, including road lengths, costs, timelines, and solutions to challenges such as equipment shortages.

Mbangweta issued a clear warning that councils would be held accountable. “It is unacceptable that one district delivers 100 kilometres of road while another does nothing with the same resources. Councils that fail to meet their targets will face consequences,” he said.

To ensure accountability, the minister announced that a performance scorecard will be introduced to track each council’s progress, rewarding those who deliver and penalizing those who fall short.

“Our people deserve fairness and development, not excuses,” he added, urging councils to transform plans into action without further delay.

The minister’s strong stance signals a renewed government effort to push for fa

In a scene that could rival an action movie, chaos broke out at Nakonde Police Station on Sunday evening when more than 40 inmates made a daring escape in broad daylight, leaving officers and the public in utter disbelief.

The great escape unfolded around 17:00 hours, catching both police and nearby residents off guard. Eyewitnesses say the usually calm station suddenly erupted into confusion as barefoot men burst out of custody, sprinting in all directions like a pack of startled impalas.

“They were just running like they had seen Satan himself!” laughed one local motorbike rider. “At first I thought it was a football celebration, until I saw uniforms and some with handcuffs dangling that’s when I knew ‘ah, trouble has come.’”

The escapees, who include suspects, convicts, and those on remand, were being held at the district’s main police station due to the absence of a correctional facility in Nakonde. Typically, they await transfer to Isoka or Chinsali correctional centres, but on this fateful evening, they decided to transfer themselves to freedom.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola confirmed the incident, describing it as “serious and unfortunate,” but said the exact number of escapees was still being verified. A manhunt involving all available police units is now in full swing, with officers combing nearby villages, bushes, and crossing points like detectives in a Nollywood thriller.

The escape has also sparked laughter and concern on social media, with one user joking, “Nakonde Police Station needs a padlock from Soweto Market – these Lusaka ones are fake.”

As the district reels from the bold breakout, residents are being urged to report any suspicious individuals especially those still in cuffs, barefoot, and looking extremely lost.

This is a developing story… but one thing’s for sure someone at the station has serious explaining to do.

9 Zim women arrested for offering ‘happy endings’ as part of their massage services

Nine Zimbabwean women have been arrested in Harare for allegedly advertising massage and “bota” services, also known as “happy endings,” which are considered violations of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. The women were reportedly offering s3xual services for an additional charge during massage sessions, a practice that has become increasingly common in some massage parlours in Harare, where it is used to attract more clients.

The women, including four teenagers, have appeared in court facing charges of soliciting for pr0stitution after allegedly advertising massage and s3xual services on social media platforms. The women were arrested after a police sting operation, where officers posed as potential clients responding to an online advert offering massage sessions with additional s3xual services for US$20.

The arrested women, who protected their identities by covering their faces, were escorted by police officers without shoes and directed to the court.

The accused are Natasha Makowe (18), Annie Mandaza (27), Ashley Nyamutsaka (21), Nyasha Mungate (19), Gamuchirai Dzvukutu (24), Ellen Chihota (20), Miola Manyange (19), Euno Chiwara (24), and Mukhtar Banda (19). They are charged under Section 81(b)(2) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, which criminalizes soliciting for prostitution. The group appeared before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Banda but were not asked to plead. The case has been postponed to Tuesday, May 6, for bail consideration, with the nine women remaining in custody until then.

According to the State, represented by prosecutor Mandirasa Chigumira, three officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police Licence Inspectorate launched an operation on May 2 after coming across a Facebook and WhatsApp advertisement promoting massage and s3xual services. Acting on the information, the officers proceeded to a property at 158 Greendale Avenue in Harare, where one of the accused met them at the gate and invited them inside. Inside, the officers were led to a room and asked to choose from a group of semi-nude women. After confirming their suspicions, the officers identified themselves and alerted their colleagues, leading to the arrest of all nine suspects.

The underground nature of the “happy ending” business has made it a discreet yet well-known service across Zimbabwe, with both men and women seeking these services in private. While the practice remains a well-kept secret, it has become a controversial topic in Zimbabwe’s informal economy.

While some citizens have supported the police’s action, others argue that law enforcement should focus on addressing more significant criminal activities. Critics contend that the women, who are simply trying to earn a living, should not be the primary targets of such operations.

I educated her but she repaid me by sleeping with my man – Kenyan woman opens up about betrayals by her younger sister

A Kenyan woman, Akinyi Helen, has opened up about the alleged betrayals she experienced at the hands of her ‘jealous’ younger sister.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Helen revealed that she raised her sister like a daughter after their parents separated, ensuring that she received an education.

However, in return, her sister allegedly had an affair with her partner.

She claimed that despite forgiving her sister, the girl allegedly began a covert campaign to destroy her reputation, recruiting friends to turn against her and spreading lies behind her back.

According to Helen, she discovered that her sister had been texting the father of her child, repeatedly asking him for money.

“How do people deal with jealous sisters? This lady is my younger sister. We share the same mum. I’m 13 years older than her. So I’ve always considered her like my daughter,” she wrote.

“A lot happened during my teenage days and our parents separated. I decided to take my siblings and live with them. I educated my sister until she graduated.

My sister repaid me by sleeping with my man. That’s why I low-key hate marriage because part of me feel men are just evil people. Who does that? I forgave my sister but then her jealousy continued growing each day. She recruited her friends to hate me. On my face she acted innocent, very soft spoken but behind the scenes, she told people I was an evil sister.

I started using sea salt October last year and by December my sister couldn’t hide the hatred she had towards me anymore. I had even paid for a vacation in Mombasa and I ended up leaving her there.

Recently, she was all over texting the father of my kid asking for money and I let it slide. She made it a habit and I had to put a stop to that nonsense. This lady is now very salty trying to ruin everything for me.

When I say I don’t want kids anymore. I don’t want my daughter to go through the bullshit I go through in the name of siblings. What do I do to this lady? I’m posting here because I got no family to share this with. I’m a loner.
