UPND GOVT OF LIES, MULENGA KAPWEPWE INSISTS

UPND GOVT OF LIES, KAPWEPWE INSISTS

MULENGA Kapwepwe, daughter of Zambia’s first vice president Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe has insisted that the United Party for National Development (UPND) is a government of lies.

Kapwepwe said it was difficult to believe and trust the UPND-led administration on any issues of national importance.

Speaking when she featured on the EMV Monday podcast, Kapwepwe said the new lies by the government were worrying and troubling.

“When I start talking about a mendocracy, I am not talking because of that one incident [lies on debt restructuring], but because there’s a pattern of lies being peddled unchallenged,” she said.

“I am observing that some things are not right in the country. Why are we being lied to by those in government? Why are lies being told to us as if it is the way of life? That is very wrong, worrying and, above all, very troubling.”

Kapwepwe said the situation in the country was not right as a result of the many lies the government was telling people on matters of national importance.

She said the trouble with lies was that they nullified the concept of transparency and accountability of the leadership. Kapwepwe said the people of Zambia deserved the truth from their leaders. She said no country had ever been built on lies.

“A friend of mine who was stationed in Afghanistan for the first time came back and told me that she did not know that a country could be so damaged. The people in Afghanistan don’t even know how to recover, how to get back to what they were,” Kapwepwe said.

She urged Zambians to keep guard against lies, urging politicians to learn to treat each other well to build a united nation for the future generation.

“I want to caution politicians in the country to treat each other well because one day you will need each other. I am talking about reconciliation. I think the important thing in politics, and I hope that Zambia will take this lesson to heart, especially the Zambian politicians,” Kapwepwe said.

She said it was high time Zambians reflected on their conduct in politics without hurting one another. Kapwepwe warned politicians to lead the people with love and honesty and avoid taking citizens for granted.

“It is the people who choose leaders; the leaders don’t even choose themselves. But let the people say you must lead us, and that person becomes a leader.

CHARLES CHANDA CONDEMNS STONING OF PRESIDENT HICHILEMA, URGES ZAMBIANS TO UPHOLD DIGNITY

CHARLES CHANDA CONDEMNS STONING OF PRESIDENT HICHILEMA, URGES ZAMBIANS TO UPHOLD DIGNITY

The leader of the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ), Charles Chanda, has condemned the stoning of President Hakainde Hichilema in Chingola, calling it a regrettable act that should not be celebrated by any Zambian.

Speaking in a statement issued on Saturday, Chanda urged citizens to reflect deeply on the nation’s challenges rather than resort to violence or mockery. He described the incident as a wake-up call for unity and sober dialogue among political leaders and ordinary citizens alike.

“Zambia is going through a lot. We need to work together to solve the problems our people face,” Chanda said, stressing that moments of tension should bring the nation closer, not divide it further.

The opposition leader emphasized the need to respect the presidency the highest office in the land regardless of political differences.

“We may have concerns with the current president, but we must respect the institution of the presidency,” he stated, warning that disrespect toward the office undermines national values and stability.

Chanda further appealed to all Zambians to conduct themselves with dignity and channel their frustrations through peaceful and constructive means.
“Let’s unite in our efforts and show that we can overcome challenges together,” he said.

The remarks come in the wake of violent scenes in Chingola, where President Hichilema’s motorcade was attacked with stones by irate residents. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation across political and civil society circles, with many calling for calm and restraint as investigations continue.

Statement on the Stoning of President Hakainde Hichilema in Chiwempala, Chingola

Statement on the Stoning of President Hakainde Hichilema in Chiwempala, Chingola

As an aspiring Member of Parliament for Katuba Constituency, I wish to express my deep concern over the recent incident in which President Hakainde Hichilema was stoned in Chiwempala, Chingola. This unfortunate act is not only an assault on the person of the Head of State but also a reflection of the growing frustration and discontent among our citizens.

Such an event sends a troubling message to the rest of the country and the world that our people are losing patience, that confidence in leadership is diminishing, and that the social contract between the governed and those who govern is under severe strain. When citizens resort to acts of aggression or public disorder, it is often a sign that dialogue has broken down and that the promises of good governance, accountability, and economic prosperity have not been met.

The stoning of the President is therefore not merely a political incident; it is a cry for help from the people an expression of deep economic pain, rising unemployment, the high cost of living, and a lack of tangible improvement in their daily lives. It demonstrates how dangerous it becomes when leadership fails to connect with the realities of ordinary citizens.

To the international community, this incident paints a worrying picture of a nation struggling to maintain unity, peace, and confidence in its democratic institutions. It challenges us, as leaders and aspiring leaders, to reflect seriously on the kind of politics we are practicing and the kind of leadership we are offering.

In my capacity as an aspiring Member of Parliament for Katuba, I call for introspection, humility, and renewed commitment to servant leadership. Our people deserve leadership that listens, that delivers, and that restores hope not one that rules through fear, division, or empty promises.

Let this incident be a wake-up call to all leaders at every level: when the people lose confidence in those who lead them, the stability of the nation is put at risk. Leadership must once again become about service, integrity, and compassion.

Signed,
Isaac Mwendela Nsoneka( Katuba – 001)
Aspiring Member of Parliament – Katuba Constituency

AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA, MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA — “THE FIXER”

AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA, MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA — “THE FIXER”

Dear Mr. President,

Warm greetings from the hungry citizens of the Republic  the same ones whose stomachs now make more noise than your campaign microphones once did.

Sir, let’s call a spade a spade, not a “technical tool for developmental excavation.” The growing discontent and social unrest in our nation are not random acts of mischief  they are direct results of insensitive, careless, and tone-deaf governance.

The Chingola incident is not about lawlessness, it is a cry from the heart of a people whose patience has finally expired. When citizens begin turning stones into instruments of protest, it’s not because they enjoy geology  it’s because the pain of living has become heavier than the minerals your government keeps exporting.

Your people are crying, Mr. President. The same hopeful faces that once chanted “Bally will fix it!” now stare at empty pots asking, “So, what exactly Bally is fixing?” Prices are rising faster than your campaign promises, and even optimism has become a luxury commodity taxed, scarce, and unavailable in rural shops.

Let’s talk about Chingola  the heartbeat of the Copperbelt, now faint and irregular from neglect. The people watched as Senseli Mine was stripped from the small-scale miners, the so-called Jerabos, and handed over to foreigners interests while locals were left to mine only their disappointment. You promised jobs, empowerment, and fair participation. What they got instead was political grammar, greenness and long speeches and short action.

Your Minister of Mines, Paul Kabuswe, seems to believe that patriotism can be served as a meal and that speeches can replace salaries. His actions or lack thereof have fueled frustration. But perhaps he’s only following your script, Mr. President  one where “empowerment” means waiting endlessly for the next directive that never comes. Please remind him, Sir, that no one can chew patriotism, no matter how sweetly it’s pronounced.

Leadership, Mr. President, is not about how loud you speak at the airport tarmac it’s about how well you listen in the streets. You cannot develop a nation with your ears sealed like a pack of bubble gum. The cries of the people are not noise they are the soundtrack of democracy. Ignore that rhythm, and it will soon turn into a beat of rebellion.

We understand that governing is not easy no one expected miracles. But remember, a hungry man is an angry man. And the same hands that clapped you into State House can just as easily wave you out of it.

So, Mr. President, with due respect and a touch of humour, when will the Fixer fix the fixes that need fixing? Because right now, it seems the Fixer himself is being fixed trapped by the very problems he promised to dismantle.

What happened in Chingola should not be blamed on the police or unruly elements. It is a reflection of your administration’s failure to respond to the long-standing cries of small-scale miners the very backbone of Copperbelt survival. The Jerabos have been pleading for years. Their patience has run out, and their pain has turned into protest.

So, Mr. President, do not blame the stones that flew blame the silence that preceded them.

Yours faithfully,
Simpamba Abraham

MAKEBI ZULU CALLS FOR UNITY TO RESTORE ZAMBIA’S PROSPERITY

MAKEBI ZULU CALLS FOR UNITY TO RESTORE ZAMBIA’S PROSPERITY

Prominent Lawyer and Patriotic Front (PF) Presidential Contender Makebi Zulu says it is possible to make Zambia prosperous again.

Speaking in Lusaka during his discussions with Mulenga Kapwepwe on Sunday, Mr Zulu described Ms Kapwepwe as one of the country’s most distinguished female leaders.

He highlighted that she has effectively played her role in ensuring the country thrives, particularly in the fields of art and literature.

Mr Zulu observed that, like most stakeholders his team has engaged with since his return to Zambia from South Africa, she too believes that unity among opposition members is essential to building a Zambia that benefits everyone.

He affirmed that his team will continue to engage all stakeholders in the pursuit of the much-needed unity of purpose that our fellow citizens expect from us politicians.

SHOCKING REVELATION: DA MINISTER HOLDS U.S. CITIZENSHIP WHILE SITTING IN SA CABINET

SHOCKING REVELATION: DA MINISTER HOLDS U.S. CITIZENSHIP WHILE SITTING IN SA CABINET!

South Africans are outraged after it emerged that DA Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Dion George, holds U.S. citizenship — yet he is serving as a Cabinet Minister in South Africa!

The big question is: how did President Ramaphosa approve a minister who swore allegiance to another country — especially one that often takes positions hostile to South Africa’s interests?

If ordinary South Africans can be denied security clearances or government jobs over dual citizenship, why is it different when it’s a white politician? When it’s a black person, we always hear “check your papers” — but this double standard continues unchecked.

Even @RomanCabanac was removed as Chief of Staff because his security clearance was denied due to his dual French citizenship. So why is a U.S. citizen allowed to sit in Cabinet meetings where national security and sensitive issues are discussed?

Many South Africans believe no Member of Parliament should hold dual citizenship — it’s a direct threat to national security and loyalty. The law must change to protect our sovereignty.

Ironically, it’s said that DA’s Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, recently amended laws to make dual citizenship easier — even enabling some white South Africans abroad to receive South African IDs.

Meanwhile, DA leader John Steenhuisen has reportedly asked President Ramaphosa to fire Dion George — but the question remains: how was this even allowed in the first place?

South Africa deserves leaders who are loyal only to this country — not those juggling two flags

Turkey issues ‘Genocide’ arrest warrants against Netanyahu

Turkey has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and dozens of other Israeli officials on charges of “genocide” and “crimes against humanity.” The warrants, issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, November 7, target 37 people in total.

Besides Netanyahu, the list includes high-ranking officials such as Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and military chief Eyal Zamir. The charges stem from actions in Gaza and against the flotilla carrying aid to the enclave, which was intercepted by Israeli authorities last month.

Israel was quick to condemn and reject the warrants.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar immediately dismissed the move as a “PR stunt” orchestrated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Sa’ar criticized the Turkish judicial system, stating that it “has long since become a tool for silencing political rivals and detaining journalists, judges, and mayors,” referencing the earlier arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.

In contrast, the Palestinian militant group Hamas welcomed the warrants, stating the action “confirms the noble positions of the Turkish people and its leadership.”

The Turkish warrants raise significant questions about the potential role Turkey will play in a multinational security force for Gaza, a measure intended to uphold the recently brokered U.S.-backed ceasefire deal.

Earlier this week, several Muslim-majority nations met in Istanbul to discuss an International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza, which is a key part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan. The temporary force is envisioned to train a new Palestinian police force and help stabilize the enclave.

U.S. officials have previously cited Turkey as a potential participant, given its important role in securing Hamas’s agreement to a ceasefire.

Despite this, Israel has made it explicitly clear that it is against Turkish troops being stationed in Gaza. U.S. Vice President JD Vance has emphasized that Israel will ultimately have to consent to the presence of any foreign troops in the territory.

The Turkish warrants come nearly a year after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for the Israeli leader, also accusing him of war crimes, a warrant which the prime minister’s office similarly dismissed as “absurd and antisemitic.”

Ned Nwoko releases his version of events, claims video of Regina Daniels and her family alleging he sent thugs to beat her is a “Nollywood script” they orchestrated (video)

Ned Nwoko has responded with his side of the story after his youngest wife Regina Daniels and her family accused him of sending thugs to beat her up.

Ned denied the domestic violence allegations and alleged that the video released showing Regina alleging violence was filmed at his house when he was not around and it was all a “Nollywood scenario” orchestrated by Regina’s siblings.

Ned went on to claim that Regina takes drugs alongside her elder brothers, Lawrence and Sammy, Sammy’s girlfriend NK, Regina’s sister Destiny, and Sonia (believed to be actress Sonia Ogala who has been calling out Ned for arresting Sammy).

Ned alleged Regina has been receiving treatment for drug addiction and the doctor advised him to keep her away from those who make her relapse. He said he tried to keep her away from them but her brother Sammy, her sister Destiny, and some Nollywood starts like Sonia (Ogala?) and Uche Montana would force their way into the house to supply Regina with drugs.

“They encouraged her addiction and completely frustrated the efforts of the doctors and therapists working with her,” Ned claimed.

He went on to accuse Sammy of coming to the house to harrass his staff and security whenever they refused to let Regina leave the house.

Ned said he set Sammy up financially, bought him music equipments and got him a furnished apartment in Abuja. However, he claims Sammy failed to get his act together.

The politician also pointed accusing fingers at Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, insinuating she is complicit in her children’s alleged behaviour.

“As to her reasons for continuing with drugs, she will always say, just like her mother, that it is a celebrity lifestyle. They will always mention two well-known pop stars,” Ned wrote.

He added that he endured so much in his marriage to Regina for the sake of their children.

Ned reiterated that Regina and her brother Sammy have a drug problem and need to undergo rehabilitation.

He did not address the issue of Sammy’s arrest and continued refusal to grant him access to his family and lawyer.

Prophet Bushiri to Sue Former DPP Kayuni Over Daughter’s Death

0

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has announced plans to sue former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Steve Kayuni, whom he accuses of being responsible for the death of his eight-year-old daughter, Israella, in 2021.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Bushiri claimed that during pandemic, his daughter was blocked from travelling to Kenya for urgent medical treatment following a court injunction issued by Kayuni.

He alleged that the injunction, which was obtained on directives from South African authorities, led to Israella being detained at Lilongwe International Airport for five days, during which her condition deteriorated.

“We accepted the pain and forgave Mr. Kayuni. However, forgiveness does not remove accountability,” Bushiri wrote.

According to the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) leader, the legal action seeks to ensure accountability and protect children’s rights as enshrined in the Malawi Constitution.

Bushiri said his lawsuit aims not only to seek justice for his late daughter but also to set a precedent against abuse of power by public officers.

Israella Bushiri passed away in 2021 after suffering complications that the family claims could have been managed if she had been allowed to leave the country on time.

‘My son should’ve been the President, not me’ – Joe Biden

Former US President Joe Biden, appearing with a bandage on his head, addressed Nebraska Democrats on Friday, November 8, stating that his late son, Beau, should have been elected commander-in-chief in 2020.

The remarks were made during a speech at the Nebraska Democratic Party’s Ben Nelson Gala, where the former President delivered sharp criticisms against President Trump.

Biden connected the death of his eldest son, Beau Biden, from brain cancer in 2015, to an attack on US President Trump, accusing the current administration of “cutting government funding for cancer research.”

“Folks, I know what cancer research means,” Biden told the crowd. “Cancer hits every family. It’s hit my family hard.”

The former US President quietly referenced his son’s service in Iraq: “When the love of my life, my oldest son, the attorney general of the state of Delaware – who should’ve been the president, not me – volunteered to go to Iraq for a year, didn’t have to, he came back with stage four glioblastoma because he lived in a burn pit just like those guys did on 9/11, and he died.”

Biden, who revealed a diagnosis of stage four prostate cancer earlier this year, then referenced his own health battle. He praised medical breakthroughs, saying, “Well, thank God for the doctors and nurses and incredible breakthroughs we’re making in cancer research.”

He then pivoted to his main charge: “Now, Trump and his Republican friends are cutting government funding for health care, making it more expensive.”

The 46th President, who will turn 83 on November 20th, appeared at the event with a seemingly fresh bandage on the top-left portion of his head.

The reason for the new bandage remains unclear. In August, Biden had undergone Mohs surgery for skin cancer, appearing publicly with a bandage on a different part of his head following that procedure.

Biden grew notably impassioned when continuing his critique of the Trump administration, linking budget cuts to tax reductions for the “wealthiest people in America.”

The former President became particularly enraged when discussing the record-long government shutdown.

Trump “better get the damn government open,” Biden fumed. “We have a president who is deliberately making hunger worse for Americans,” he charged, referencing the funding lapse for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). “In the United States of America, 1 in 5 children, 1 in 5 children, go to bed hungry every night!”

When the crowd responded with boos, Biden stated: “No, no, it’s more than ‘boo’ … it’s a disgrace!” Trump and Republicans have blamed Senate Democrats’ refusal to vote in favor of a measure that would fund the government at pre-shutdown levels for the prolonged impasse.

Biden concluded his speech by celebrating recent Democratic victories in state elections, declaring, “The Democratic Party is back – not hyperbole.” He argued that the strong performance in states like Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, New York City, Georgia, and Mississippi shows voters are “sending a message to Trump and to his crowd.”

Woman claims she rejected new Mayor of NYC Zohran Mamdani on dating app for brutal reason

0

A woman who claimed that she rejected Zohran Mamdani on a dating app has now removed her account from TikTok after people branded her story the ‘fumble of the century’.

Taking to social media, the woman said that a decision she made on Hinge in the past has come back to haunt her as she chose to pass on none other than Mamdani.

The 34-year-old will make history by becoming the first Muslim man and first South Asian to govern New York once he is sworn in on 1 January 2026.

Mamdani called out President Donald Trump after his victory was confirmed, as the democratic socialist doesn’t look like he’ll be shying away from making his opinions known.

But it looks like there’s someone who might have their head in their hands after Mamdani’s victory.

A screenshot from a now-deleted TikTok has been shared on X (formerly Twitter), which detailed a woman’s alleged experience of matching with Mamdani on Hinge in the past.

The original post said she ‘remembered’ the time she’d matched with Mamdani on Hinge years prior, but chose not to reply due to his height.

It read: “He was listed as either 5’11 or 5’10 and younger me knew that meant he was most likely 5’9.

“Present me appreciates that he was more honest than most guys on there.”

Ironically, Mamdani met his wife, Syrian-American artist Rama Duwaji, on Hinge in 2021.

While they kept their relationship private as Mamdani’s political career grew, he proposed in October 2024 and made it official with a civil wedding at the New York City Clerk’s Office in early 2025, after a nikah ceremony held in Dubai back in December.

After the repost of the video went viral, several users were in disbelief at the woman’s claim of turning down the New York mayor-elect.

Taking to the comments, users said it was ‘cringe’ that she decided not to reply due to his perceived height, as one wrote: “Thank God Zohran matched with and married the right woman,” as another said: “Do people really care about height that much? I don’t get it.”

A third wrote: “Wait what there’s heightflation now? Is being honest a disadvantage on these apps? lol.”

Mamdani will go down as one of the youngest and most progressive mayors in the history of New York when he’s sworn in next year.

‘I regret voting for him’: Internet erupts over Trump’s ‘spectacularly dumb’ mortgage idea

Donald Trump’s latest plan to help people buy homes is getting a horrible reception from many experts and political observers, with one individual declaring it a “spectacularly dumb” idea.

Trump recently teased a plan for a “50-year mortgage” on his social media, and on Saturday administration officials confirmed such a plan is in the works. But with 30-year mortgages already putting some people in debt for much of their lives, some analysts sounded the alarm.

Progressive influencer Alex Cole said, “A $400K house at 6% costs $863K on a 30-year mortgage. On Trump’s 50-year plan? $1.38M. That’s half a million more in interest. Trump supporters cheering for 50-year mortgages is like turkeys cheering for Thanksgiving.”

Dem strategist Mike Nellis said, “Trump’s 50-year mortgage proposal is a spectacularly dumb idea.”

“He’s basically admitting he has no clue how to lower housing costs—just a plan to enrich banks and trap Americans in debt until they die,” Nellis wrote.

MeidasTouch wrote, “Trump and his cronies are now pushing 50-year mortgages. Buckle up. This is going to make the 2008 mortgage crisis look like the good old days.”

Common Sense Investor added, “TRUMP JUST POSTED THE 50 YEAR MORTGAGE! 50-YEAR MORTGAGE = LIFETIME DEBT. BANKS GET RICH. YOU NEVER GET FREE.”

An X user known as @InNomeniDei added, “Trump really screwed himself proposing a 50 year mortgage.”

A Florida conservative known as Richard FL wrote, “Trump is so America First, that he wants your children to have a 50 year mortgage on their homes. Imagine, buying a house when you’re 27, paying until you’re 77, and then paying home insurance and property taxes until you expire. What have I missed?”

Sonny Day, a self-proclaimed “Finance Bro,” chimed in, “President Trump is a catastrophic failure. A 50 year mortgage is a lifetime of debt and interest. I regret voting for him or at all for that matter. Self aggrandizing and out of touch with his voting base.”

Conservative analyst Tom Nichols also weighed in when confronted on the topic:

“A 50 year mortgage is not ‘leniency,’ it’s a scam aimed at…well, at people like this, who will go bust then join Tea Party 2.0 and swear that the government is to blame for making them do stupid things like signing up for 50 year mortgages.”

I’m not a lawyer yet…I failed Bar exam- Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian failed at another attempt at becoming a lawyer.

Months after taking the California bar exam on July 29 and July 30, the SKIMS founder and reality star, 45, revealed her results on Saturday, Nov. 8.

In a candid Instagram Stories post, Kim shared that she failed to pass the exam — but is still determined to achieve her goal.

“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up – just more studying and even more determination.”

“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Failing short isn’t failure – it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivated me even more. Let’s go!” she added.

Nurse admitted to killing ten patients because he had ‘too much work to do’

A nurse in Germany admitted to killing ten patients to free up his workload.

We all get a little snowed under with work from time to time, but the thought of killing people to stop the admin, it’s admittedly going too far.

According to reports, the nurse, whose name was not released, has officially been given a life sentence in prison on 5 November, after he was convicted of murdering all 10 of his elderly patients by way of lethal injection.

He was also found guilty of attempting to kill 27 more, as reported by CNN.

At the trial, the prosecution team claimed the nurse attempted to cut down his workload by giving his mostly elderly patients a cocktail of painkillers and sedatives.

This all occurred in a hospital in the German city of Aachen, said CNN.

However, even though he has been handed a life term for his crimes, according to German law, he can be released from prison as soon as in 15 years.

However, because of the severity of his crimes, it’s unlikely he’d be let go, said a spokesperson for the Aachen court, per TMZ.

But what the nurse can do is appeal his verdict, despite now being known as one of Germany’s most prolific killers in modern times.

The palliative care nurse is said to have committed the crimes between December 2023 and May 2024 in the hospital.

However, investigators have him pegged as possibly being responsible for other suspicious cases during his career.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the man had been employed at the hospital since 2020, after he completed his training as a nursing professional in 2007.

Prosecutors told the court that the man displayed ‘irritation’ and even a lack of empathy to patients who required more care, leading to him playing ‘master of life and death’.

The court was told how he allegedly injected patients with large amounts of morphine and midazolam before being arrested in 2024.

The court said the man’s crimes carried a ‘particular severity of guilt’ which should prevent him from being granted an early release.

Prosecutors then told AFP that exhumations will be issued to identify any more potential victims, which would mean he would be put back on trial again.

The worst German killer in recent times, was also a nurse.

Niels Hoegel, was a 42-year-old former nurse who was sentenced to life in prison at the District Court of Oldenburg after it was found he had murdered 85 patients in his care, according to a statement from a court in Oldenburg.

The judge said Hoegel’s actions were ‘incomprehensible: That’s the word that characterizes this.’

At his sentencing, he asked for forgiveness.

GOP lawmaker questions new probe into Epstein New Mexico complex

A Republican state lawmaker is voicing concerns as New Mexico legislators push to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s 8,000-acre compound that sits about 35 miles south of the state capital.

On Friday, Democratic state Rep. Andrea Romero officially introduced a proposal to establish a “truth commission” – at a cost of $2.5 million – to investigate activities at Epstein’s complex, known as “Zorro Ranch,” KOAT-TV, a local ABC affiliate, reported Sunday. But for one Republican state lawmaker, the timing of the probe was suspect.

“Why now?” said Republican state Rep. Stafani Lord on Friday, according to KOAT-TV. “Why not a long time ago? Every time I ride my motorcycle past [Zorro Ranch], I get sick to my stomach.”

The outlet also reported that Lord had raised her questions in the context of ongoing political tensions surrounding the matter, and made reference to President Donald Trump’s supposed pledge to release files related to Epstein.

Epstein, who died in 2019 awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges, had a long personal relationship with Trump, a relationship that has plagued his second stint in the White House as new revelations about their relationship continue to be unearthed.

Epstein purchased Zorro Ranch in 1993 from former New Mexico Gov. Bruce King, and is alleged to have sexually abused minors at the location alongside his longtime accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. He hosted powerful figures at the compound throughout the years, including Britain’s Prince Andrew, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and celebrity Woody Allen.

Epstein had also reportedly planned to use Zorro Ranch to “seed the human race with his DNA” by impregnating women at the compound, the New York Times reported in 2019.

According to Romero, who represents Santa Fe, the proposed investigation would probe current and former state officials as to their knowledge of the activities at Zorro Ranch.

“This commission will specifically seek the truth about what officials knew, how crimes were unreported or reported, and how the state can ensure that this essentially never happens again,” Romero said. “There’s no complete record of what occurred.”

Zorro Ranch would be sold in 2023 to an undisclosed buyer, and its name changed to “Rancho de San Rafael.” The mysterious owner or owners have since filed a complaint to dispute the property tax burden they were issued after purchasing the property.

Trump caught own allies ‘off guard’ with military threat to Nigeria based on Fox News story

Donald Trump recently shocked his own allies with a military threat that came after the president watched a Fox New story on the topic, according to new reporting.

The Washington Post on Sunday published a new report called, “Trump’s ‘guns-a-blazing’ threat to Nigeria shocked key players, aides,” in which the outlet claims that “Trump’s threat to go ‘guns-a-blazing’ into Nigeria concerned U.S. military officials in Africa and surprised even those who had been pushing the issue.”

Raw Story reported more than a week ago that Trump threatened military action on foreign soil, escalating previous remarks about the ally.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump said on Truth Social at the time. “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

The Post investigated how that threat came to be, and reported, “Trump’s threat to go ‘guns-a-blazing’ into Africa’s most populous country was the result of a months-long pressure campaign on behalf of Nigerian Christians by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and American evangelical leaders — but it surprised even those who had been pushing the issue.”

The report continued:

“The threat caught many off guard and generated immediate concern within United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), which directs American military operations across the continent. Leaders told the Pentagon they had other priorities, according to three people familiar with the matter, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing operations. One of those familiar said AFRICOM also communicated that striking a region with limited U.S. presence and intelligence was unlikely to make a difference.”

Referring to Trump’s new priority as “seemingly out of the blue,” the report states that “the president’s initial post followed a meeting in Washington between his top advisers and members of the faith community, and after he watched a Fox News segment on the topic aboard Air Force One, according to three people with knowledge of the situation.”

“The push to make the issue an administration priority was long in the making, the people said, but the president’s threat of military action was entirely unexpected,” the report states.

Hungary says it had obtained an indefinite waiver from US sanctions to use Russian oil and gas

Hungary says it had obtained an indefinite waiver from US sanctions to use Russian oil and gas, but a White House official reaffirmed that the exemption was for one year only.

Last month, US President Donald Trump imposed Ukraine-related sanctions on Russian oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft that carried a threat of further sanctions against entities that buy oil from those firms.

“The prime minister was clear. He has agreed with the US President that we have obtained an indefinite exemption from the sanctions,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook.

“There are no sanctions on oil and gas shipments to Hungary for an indefinite period.”

But a White House official repeated in an email to Reuters on Saturday that the exemption is for one year.

Police officers resignations jumped 35% after  Zohran Mamdani Win

POLICE OFFICERS HEAD FOR THE HILLS IN NYC AFTER MAMDANI WIN

NYPD resignations jumped 35% last month, with 245 officers quitting just as Zohran Mamdani clinched the mayor’s race.

The head of the NYPD’s protest response unit retired the very next day.

Morale? In the basement. Union leaders say officers are rattled by Mamdani’s plans to dismantle key units, strip the commissioner of disciplinary power, and replace cops with social workers on emergency calls.

Mamdani says he wants a “new approach” to public safety, but cops are bracing for chaos.

One officer asked, “What happens when the guy with a knife doesn’t want therapy?”

Even new recruits are drying up, with a police consultant saying, “Nobody wants to be a New York City cop.”

Would they be right to fear Mamdani will defund the police after taking a knee for Black Lives Matter? Stranger things have happened.

ROBERTO SAYS HE TURNED DOWN PERFORMING AT DAVIDO’S HEADLINED SHOW BECAUSE THE MONEY WAS LESS THAN WHAT HE CHARGES FOR A WEDDING

ROBERTO SAYS HE TURNED DOWN PERFORMING AT DAVIDO’S HEADLINED SHOW BECAUSE THE MONEY WAS LESS THAN WHAT HE CHARGES FOR A WEDDING

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido is scheduled to perform at the ZAMSAFARI Festival of All Stars this December 20th at Lusaka Showgrounds.

Singer Roberto revealed to News Diggers that he turned down an offer to share the stage with the Afrobeats star because the organisers offered less money compared to what he charges for a wedding.

“I actually turned down an offer for the very same event because the money that I was offered did not make any logical sense to me,” he told News Diggers in part.

Meanwhile, singer Towela Kaira, DJ Switcher and rapper K Star and comedian Kapembwa are among Zambian creatives that will be part of the highly anticipated event.

Like many other Zambian artists who took the same path in the past, Roberto’s decision highlights his strong stance on valuing his artistry and professionalism, reinforcing his reputation as one of Zambia’s most principled performers.

Nevertheless, there is a lot of anticipation for the event despite there being no official announcement from the Nigerian Afrobeats star.

This has brought some scepticism among social users as Davido is reportedly having only two shows in December according to his socials.

VIDEO: “Donald Trump, if the U.S. military invades Nigeria, our mosquitoes will give your soldiers malaria and fever”- Nigerian security expert

An unnamed “Ex security expert” in Nigeria has given a defiant response to a threat of military action against Nigeria issued by US President Donald Trump.

In a new video, the man claimed that geno.cide of Christians wasn’t taking place in the North and that if the US invaded Nigeria, Malaria will k!ll the US soldiers..

His comment comes after US President Donald Trump, in a public statement, threatened possible military action against Nigeria, stating he would “go in… ‘guns-a-blazing'” if the government failed to stop alleged v!olence against Christian communities.

He also threatened to cut off all aid to the country. This followed the U.S. State Department’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) for religious freedom violations.

AFTER CHINGOLA CHAOS, KANEMA URGES PRESIDENT HICHILEMA TO DISMISS MINISTERS

Upnd youth chairman north western province Bruce Kanema shared…….

May I express my disappointment at the unruly, disrespectful and treasonous behaviour of the so called jarabos in chiwempala of chingola District.

In other countries, today we could have witnessed bloodshed of such disrespectful characters.

However, all I may wish to ask is  whether chingola has the intelligence or not and what happened to our President and state house intelligence?

By subjecting the President’s life to a dangerous ground, let me suggest that we need to see many people being fired including three ministers.

In the midst of grievances any any kind, youths must not be used to throw stones at the President, more especially that he came to the aid of those who have list the business at the market place.

Finally, let the law take its course otherwise that behaviour may spread to others parts of the country where youths may assume that, such actions of throwing stones at the Head os state are the best way to air their grievances.

Let there be a serious clean up starting from certain leaders were involved in the so black mountains up to the so called jarabos.

Otherwise am very disappointed because such stones were last seen when upnd was in opposition.

Chingola Incident Demands Answers on Presidential Security Readiness

🇿🇲 OPINION | Chingola Incident Demands Answers on Presidential Security Readiness

When stones were thrown at the Head of State during his visit to Chiwempala in Chingola, the nation witnessed an incident that should concern every citizen. What was expected to be a routine engagement turned into a moment of danger for the President and for the people who had gathered peacefully.

Such a breach does not happen in isolation. It happens when intelligence fails, when planning weakens, and when security structures relax at the most critical moment. The question that now stands before the country is straightforward: how did this happen?

Presidential movements are guided by strict protocols. The work of intelligence, police, and advance security teams is to anticipate and neutralize threats long before the President arrives. That is why this incident raises serious concerns. A lapse of this scale suggests that something broke down in the chain of command; from those who plan security assessments to those who implement them on the ground.

This is not a matter for political point-scoring. It is a national security issue. It deserves a transparent investigation that examines every level of responsibility. The public deserves to know whether those tasked with protecting the highest office carried out their duties with discipline and competence.

Accountability must start at the top. Officials responsible for intelligence assessments, provincial coordination, and crowd management must answer for what went wrong. It is neither fair nor acceptable for the same structures that failed to continue operating without scrutiny. Protecting the President is not a ceremonial obligation. It is a constitutional duty that safeguards the stability of the Republic.

This incident should serve as a wake-up call. Zambia cannot afford indifference within security and intelligence systems. A breach against the President’s security is a breach against the nation itself. Strengthening these systems is the only way to restore confidence and ensure that the country’s leadership remains safe and secure.

Hon Sunday Chanda calls for a full, transparent and impartial investigation into the  Chingola stoning of the President

PUBLIC STATEMENT BY HON SUNsDAY CHANDA

The violent disruption in Chingola yesterday, during which stones were thrown and property, including a police vehicle and a presidential tent, was set alight, was deeply alarming. The Zambia Police Service has confirmed that order was restored and that the President was evacuated to safety.

Such attacks must be condemned by every citizen, across every political divide. Violence is not an instrument of politics; it is an affront to the rule of law and to the dignity of our nation. As a matter of principle, any imminent threat to the life of the President is intolerable and must attract swift and decisive consequences.

Accordingly, we call for the following, without delay:

1. A full, transparent and impartial investigation into the events in Chingola, with the findings made public. Those responsible must be identified and prosecuted under the law.

2. A review of security arrangements to ensure the safety of public officials and the public at large, while safeguarding citizens’ right to peaceful assembly and free expression.

3. A firm but lawful response by the security services against anyone who incites, plans, or executes violence, including criminal charges, arrest and prosecution where evidence warrants.

4. Collective leadership from all political parties, traditional leaders and civic actors to publicly condemn this violence, discourage vigilantism, and recommit to peaceful civic engagement.

5. Urgent community outreach and youth engagement initiatives to address grievances through dialogue so that frustration does not become a pretext for violence.

Let us be clear: protecting the life of the Head of State is not about partisanship but protecting the institutions and shared values that bind us as Zambians. We must show that disagreement in our country is resolved through discussion, law and democratic processes and never through violence.

For the sake of national unity and the safety of all citizens, we must all speak with one voice: violence will not be tolerated; perpetrators will be held to account; and our democracy will be defended.

Signed:

Hon Sunday Chilufya Chanda

WE ARE PROUD POLICE DID NOT OPEN FIRE IN CHINGOLA – STATE HOUSE

State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka says President Hakainde Hichilema endured bullets, stones, and teargas during his time in opposition suffering that must never be repeated.

“Now that citizens have elected him, some criminals want to continue that abuse? No. These are the last kicks of a dying horse,” Hamasaka said, commending security officers for opening fire.

He added that the President’s visit to Chiwempala was a last-minute decision to meet people who had lost their livelihoods, a change he fully takes responsibility for.

“There will be law and order,” Hamasaka said. “Peace is what Zambians voted for, and peace is what this President continues to deliver.”

Clayson Hamasaka writes:
…When he was in opposition, bullets sang past him, stones found his shoulders, and teargas turned his house into a choking night.  The brutal attacks that were suffered by the first family can never be repeated….

When he was in opposition, bullets sang past him, stones found his shoulders, and teargas turned his house into a choking night.

The brutal attacks that were suffered by the first family can never be repeated.

And now, having been elected by citizens into the highest office, some criminals want to continue that abuse against our President? No.

These are the last sad kicks of a dying horse.

Zambians will not permit it. I am proud of the security services for their great conduct. We are now a country of peace. We will NEVER go back to the division and violence of the PF.

Today, our schedule did not originally include Chiwempala but the President himself insisted on visiting the people who had lost their livelihoods. I take full responsibility for this last-minute change of plan.

But let us be clear. We will not sit idly by, there shall be law and order, but peace is what we voted for and peace is what this President has delivered.

What Really Happened in Chingola and Why the Reactions Matter

 EXPLAINER | What Really Happened in Chingola and Why the Reactions Matter

A violent disturbance in Chingola on Saturday escalated into one of the most serious security incidents President Hakainde Hichilema has faced since taking office. The police report and the UPND statement present sharply different versions of the same event. Social media reactions have moved even further, with sections of the opposition base celebrating the violence and framing it as a symbolic revolt. This explainer sets out what happened, who is driving the narrative, and why the reactions require close monitoring by the state.

 What Police Say Happened

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga reported a direct escalation of violence while the President was still addressing the public. “Some unruly people began breaking into and looting shops,” he said. When police moved to stop the looting, the crowd “became violent and started charging towards the venue where the President was speaking.” The President was withdrawn for security reasons and escorted to the landing pad. A police Toyota Land Cruiser was attacked, overturned, and set ablaze. Superintendent Lloyd Kanondo fired ten warning shots into the air without success.

The police listed several burnt items, including a presidential holding tent, floor carpet, carpet runners, a presidential portrait, and a portable toilet. Two suspects are in custody.

 What the UPND Says Happened

The UPND issued a contrasting statement. The party described the incident as “a minor and isolated disturbance” triggered by boys who climbed rooftops for a better view. According to the statement, the youths resisted police instructions to come down and threw stones, creating “momentary panic.” The party added that “no one was injured, and no property damage of significance occurred,” and that the President proceeded to Ndola for a football match as planned. Frank Bwalya defended the engagement as peaceful and productive.

 What Opposition Pages Are Amplifying

Opposition pages and influencers are shaping the event into a triumph. One PF-aligned page posted a graphic reading “Stoning is Biblical” which attracted hundreds of positive reactions. Another post circulated the caption “From BallyBelt to Bally Stoned.” Meme activity has spiked, with users referencing Goliath, Stephen, and other biblical scenes to normalise the violence. Comments include “Even Stephen was stoned” and “Very much Biblical, ask Goliath.”

Elsewhere, supporters framed the incident as proof that the Copperbelt has turned. A PF comment read, “These few disgruntled misbehaving youths can be found anywhere as we approach 2026 general elections,” a statement that suggests readiness for more confrontations.

⌛ Calls for Tanzanian-Style Action

A consistent theme across platforms is celebration of violence as a political remedy. Some comments openly encourage youths to replicate the street action seen in Tanzania. Others mock law enforcement responses. One user wrote, “They thought Zambia is still in 2pin. Wala tata,” implying that the state no longer commands fear. Another wrote, “You can’t have such an issue and you seem to be praising the act. What kind of leadership are you exhibiting,” in response to opposition leaders who appeared excited by the incident.

Sentiment mapping shows a split. Hardline groups portray the violence as a moral victory. Moderate voices warn that the online celebration signals a readiness to test the state ahead of 2026.

 Why the Reactions Matter

The reactions are not isolated humour. They reflect deep frustration among groups that lost economic and political power after 2021. These include former market tax collectors, bus stop enforcers, and informal mining groups. Their commentary reveals a desire to recreate past influence through engineered instability. The spike in violent rhetoric after the Chingola incident points to a coordinated appetite for confrontation as a political tool. Some voices even frame confrontation as divine sanction.

Political Stakes Ahead of 2026

The Copperbelt remains a strategic battleground. The President’s visit was part of a wider outreach following the Chiwempala market fire. The violent scenes risk becoming a template for future disruption. Opposition influencers are already positioning the event as proof that the region has rejected the ruling party. The governing party will attempt to contain this narrative, but online sentiment is drifting faster than official statements can counter.

⚖️ The Facts Versus the Spin

The police report and the UPND statement diverge. The opposition and sections of the public have added another layer of distortion. What is clear is that the incident was serious, violent, and strategically located. Property was burnt. A police vehicle was destroyed. Warning shots were fired. The President was evacuated. These are not markers of a minor disturbance.

 What the State Should Note

Discontented groups are testing boundaries before 2026. The online celebration of violence reveals a readiness to exploit any spark. Intelligence signals point to a network of actors who benefited from past lawlessness and now face reduced influence. Their rhetoric shows intent to regain political space through street pressure. The state must recognise that the Chingola incident is not only a security event but also an information event where narratives can embolden or restrain future actions.

STOP CELEBRATING UNRULY  BEHAVIOR LISWANISO COMMENTS ON CHIWEMPALA INCIDENT INVOLVING HH

STOP CELEBRATING UNRULY  BEHAVIOR LISWANISO COMMENTS ON CHIWEMPALA INCIDENT INVOLVING HH

He shared…..

The lack of morals is evident when some individuals celebrate unruly behavior simply to gain political advantage, despite the president’s efforts to assist the genuine victims affected by the market fire.

Who will compensate the widow who lost her capital, which she relied on to support her family, if the president had not boldly allocated 10 million kwacha?

I strongly believe in discipline, and it is disheartening to see people advocating for lawlessness while claiming to govern the country.

Our focus should be on improving the livelihoods of our citizens. If there are issues, let’s engage respectfully and find the best solutions, rather than destroying the country to benefit unruly groups.

Thank you, Mr. President, for the 10 million donation, which has sparked debate and clearly demonstrates your love for the Zambian people and your commitment to serving them.

The president is aware of the situation at Senseli Mine, and decisions are being made to protect our people while ensuring that operations safeguard the future of everyone affected.

Even when the valley grows dark, I will not tremble – HH

President Hakainde Hichilema has quoted a portion in the Bible, particularly Psalms 23, including quoting the portion where it says that “even when the valley grows dark, and shadows breathe the scent of fear, I will not tremble, for You, my Shepherd, walk beside me.”

Posting on his social media platforms, the President stated that the Lord was his keeper, and his steady hand in the storm, and that he lacked nothing for God’s love was his portion and peace.

“He lays me down in meadows of rest, where the grass whispers calm, and leads me beside waters that remember stillness. He gathers all of my soul and sets my feet again upon the right road, a path worn bright with His name,” President Hichilema stated. “Even when the valley grows dark, and shadows breathe the scent of fear, I will not tremble, for You, my Shepherd, walk beside me.Your rod defends, Your staff guides; in both, I find comfort.”

He stated that the Lord spread a table “before me, even where enemies linger in envy’s gaze.”

“You pour oil upon my head, my cup overflows with grace unmeasured,” stated President Hichilema. “Surely Your goodness and mercy will trail my steps, like sunlight follows dawn. And I shall dwell in Your house, not for a moment, but for all my days, and beyond the reach of time. Amen! Happy Remembrance Day, fellow citizens. May God bless our Nation!”

An Attack on the Presidency Is an Attack on Our Nation

An Attack on the Presidency Is an Attack on Our Nation

Reports from the Copperbelt are deeply disturbing. The fact that His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia, had to cut his speech short and be whisked away by his security detail after an attempted stoning incident is not only unacceptable but a serious threat to our national fabric.

There are proper and democratic channels for expressing dissatisfaction with the Head of State. You campaign and you vote. Resorting to violence or mob behavior is not a sign of courage or patriotism; it is lawlessness, and it puts our entire democracy at risk.

To those who took part in that chaos: have you paused to think about the consequences? If arrested and proven guilty, what happens to your future? As a young person, are you really willing to throw your life away like that? Think about the people who depend on you, your family, your children, your community.

But beyond the act itself, another serious question arises: how did such hostility get that close to the President? How did it elude his security detail? The Presidency, regardless of who occupies it, must never be exposed in that manner. We cannot, and must not, allow such lapses in protection. The safety of the Head of State is the safety of the Republic.

And let’s be honest, if people can freely attack the President, what does that say about the safety of ordinary citizens who have no security detail? What will happen to our people in the communities if this culture of aggression is normalized? This behavior cannot and must not be tolerated.

Mr. President, while I condemn the actions of the young people in the Copperbelt in the strongest terms, I also recognize that their anger sends a message to you and your team, they are not happy. It’s up to you now to reach out, listen, and calm the situation. Restore hope and trust in their hearts. The ball is in your court.

I rest my case. 

Zimbabwe MP Says US$40,000 Housing Loan Is Not Enough

An opposition Member of Parliament has made a bold demand for substantial housing loans for legislators, stating that the US$40,000 provided in the past is no longer sufficient. Kuwadzana MP Chalton Hwende has called for the government to budget a minimum of US$150,000 for each MP to acquire a home.

The demand was made during a pre-budget seminar in Bulawayo. Hwende argued that the previous loan amount was inadequate, especially when compared to the benefits received by members of the Executive. He also used the platform to criticise the Finance Minister for not increasing parliamentary salaries.

A Call For Fairness And Dignity
Contributing to the debate on the national budget, Hwende directly addressed the issue of legislator welfare. He lamented the government’s failure to provide funds for MPs to build on residential stands they had been allocated. The MP framed his request not as a luxury, but as a necessary provision for those serving the public.

According to ZiFM News, Hwende told the seminar:

“We received housing loans worth US$40,000 (approx. R720,000), but because of inflation and compared to what those in the Executive received, we also want you to budget a minimum of US$150,000 (approx. R2.7 million) as a loan that will ensure an MP gets a house.”

Welfare Concerns Echoed In Parliament
This is not the first time the difficult conditions faced by MPs have been raised. Just weeks earlier, in October 2025, the National Assembly saw heated exchanges over the same topic. Another opposition legislator, Dzivaresekwa MP Edwin Mushoriwa spoke emotionally, declaring that MPs were “struggling for survival.”

Mushoriwa linked the death of Nkulumane MP Desire Moyo to Parliament’s failure to support its members. Moyo died in a car accident on 10 October 2025 after his vehicle collided with an elephant. Mushoriwa claimed the fatal crash occurred after Moyo had delayed his trip waiting for overdue fuel coupons.

Mushoriwa told the Assembly:

“One of the reasons why Hon. Moyo and others were involved in an accident is that they received their coupons around 8:00 p.m. in this Parliament. If Members of Parliament are not respected and if this august House is not given the honour that it deserves, if we have a situation where we pass the budget but we are treated as if we are third-class citizens in this country, it just does not work, Madam Speaker.”

Months Without Basic Allocations
The October session revealed that legislators had gone for months without receiving their fuel allocations. Mushoriwa emphasised that this was not merely an inconvenience but a genuine danger that impaired their ability to serve their constituencies. He stated that without proper support, MPs are left exposed and stripped of dignity.

Acting Speaker Tsitsi Zhou repeatedly attempted to steer the discussion towards a future caucus meeting, but Mushoriwa insisted the matter was too urgent to delay. He argued that the welfare of MPs was a matter of record, not just for a private meeting, especially after a colleague’s death.

The demands from Hwende for improved housing loans now bring this ongoing welfare crisis to the forefront of the national budget discussion.

Chingola Disruption Sparks Questions Over Crowd Control and Intelligence Gaps

 MONITOR | Chingola Disruption Sparks Questions Over Crowd Control and Intelligence Gaps

The disruption of President Hakainde Hichilema’s address this afternoon at Chiwempala Market has ignited sharp debate across social media, splitting reactions between those who downplay the incident and those who believe the chaos was engineered. What was meant to be a routine reassurance visit after the market fire turned into a short and chaotic interruption that has now raised broader questions about security planning and political manipulation.

The President had spoken for less than three minutes when a small cluster in the crowd broke the rhythm of the event with chants of “Senseli, Senseli.” Stones followed. Security personnel reacted in seconds and pulled the President out of the speaking position. The rapid extraction showed disciplined tactical response, but the breach itself exposed a lapse in pre-event scanning and behavioural profiling. A presidential site requires layered control: close protection, crowd zoning, tactical surveillance and soft-spot inoculation. Something in that chain failed.

Online discussion shows two dominant narratives. The UPND base insists the incident was minor, created by a handful of disruptive individuals and amplified for political mileage. Opposition supporters present it as evidence of declining grassroots confidence and see the “Senseli” chants as a political message rather than random disorder. Both sides read the moment through partisan filters, yet the operational facts suggest deeper structural questions.

One of those questions concerns intelligence posture. The event appeared spontaneous on camera, but footage circulating online shows coordinated chanting patterns and individuals moving together before the disruption. That behaviour points to pre-event organisation rather than isolated anger. Intelligence units are expected to identify such clusters through reconnaissance, listening posts and community indicators before the President arrives. Analysts now point to a possible intelligence miss, particularly given Chingola’s recent political volatility.

Another layer is the crowd pressure along the President’s movement route. Videos show a dense mass of supporters blocking parts of the motorcade and prompting the President to step out and greet them. This is a high-risk moment in any security operation. A stopped motorcade creates a static target. The protective formation loses mobility advantage. The crowd gains psychological and physical leverage. That the scene unfolded without incident was due more to the goodwill of the crowd than to secure operating conditions.

The political class is also reading the pictures closely. Opposition voices frame the incident as a signal of frustration in the Copperbelt and argue that public sentiment is hardening over load-shedding and cost-of-living pressure. UPND voices argue the President was received by a large and positive community, and that the disruption was a manufactured stunt designed to overshadow the broader welcome. The footage supports both readings: a large crowd, and a small disruptive cell working with intent.

The unanswered question is how such a cell entered a controlled zone with stones. Markets are difficult environments for presidential events because supply routes and side-paths give room for unfiltered entry. Even so, standard presidential advance teams secure perimeters, sweep access points and manage screening lines to prevent exactly this type of breach. The lapse now raises operational questions for the security cluster and the intelligence service.

What remains clear is that this was not a collapse of public order but a reminder of how quickly a presidential event can turn. The President left safely. The crowd dispersed. The message of relief for traders was overshadowed. The political conversation has shifted to security gaps and crowd intent. Our monitoring will continue to track the online footprint, the political responses and the intelligence posture as Chingola becomes a test case of presidential security under strained public sentiment.

“Why don’t you tell them how you force yourself on me when I say no. Why don’t you tell them that all you wives are on drugs?”- Regina Daniels responds her husband

Actress Regina Daniels has made some damning accusations against her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, after he released a statement claiming she and her siblings are drug addicts.

Regina accused Ned of lying in her latest response to him.

She alleged she would have divorced Ned a long time ago. However, she claims whenever she says she is no longer interested in the relationship, he isolates her, seizes her phone, locks her up, and gets doctors to inject her with drugs meant for those with bipolar disorder.

However, she alleges whenever she finally agrees to stay in the relationship, Ned restores her freedom and suddenly stops claiming she’s mentally unstable.

She also accused Ned of forcing himself on her even when she says no.

She admitted she takes drugs but alleged that Ned was the one who encouraged her to take it because, according to him it makes her “sexier”, “wild”, and “romantic”, “exactly how you wanted me to be.”

Regina also charged Ned to tell the world why all this wives and ex-wives are on drugs.

Rio Ferdinand believes Cristiano Ronaldo could still rip up the Premier League at the age of 40

“People say, ‘Oh, it’s great that he’s in Portugal and scoring, because he wouldn’t be able to do it anywhere else’. He’s doing it for Portugal, in the national team, against some of the best defenders in the world. So don’t tell me he can’t still do it in the Premier League.

“He was top goalscorer for Man Utd when he was there. He’d be doing this anywhere, still. I watched his goal against Al Ittihad. His movement to get across the defender… there’s 25-year-old’s still working out how to do that, who are still in the peak of their career, who don’t do it, who don’t smell it, who don’t see it.”

Yoweri Museveni Admits to Abducting Two Kenyans, Claims He Kept Them in a Fridge

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, has admitted that his government abducted two Kenyan activists and “put them in the fridge” just a day after Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo were released from custody.

Speaking during an interview with UBC TV, President Museveni admitted that the two had been held in custody, even after over 30 days of the Ugandan government denying the claims.

Praising the country’s intelligence, he claimed that the two had positioned themselves as experts in riots and had been working with Uganda’s opposition leader, Robert Kyagulani, alias Bobi Wine.

“Here in Uganda, we have our own groups, which we monitor; we have very good intelligence,” he admitted. “For instance, we arrested two Kenyans; I do not remember their names. They were working with Kyagulanyi’s group; they are experts in riots.”

“Of course, with our very good intelligence, we picked them up and they have been in the fridge for some days. Now, some Kenyan leaders rang me and said I should either put them in jail here or hand them back.”

The admission comes just hours after Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo were released from Ugandan custody after public uproar.

MK Party faces R70 million funding scandal

MK Party faces R70 million funding scandal

Members of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) parliamentary caucus have called on party president Jacob Zuma to order a forensic investigation into more than R70 million allegedly siphoned from parliamentary funds.

According to the Mail & Guardian, caucus members met last week and resolved to write to Zuma and deputy president Tony Yengeni, citing funds that have reportedly gone unaccounted for since MK entered Parliament in 2024.

Parliament allocates about R6.3 million monthly to MK to establish constituency offices for its 58 MPs and five NCOP members, but insiders claim there are no visible offices and that the money may have been spent on inflated salaries, travel, accommodation, and security contracts. A senior MK source told the Mail & Guardian:

“Every MP must have a constituency office  since 2024, we haven’t had any. This is taxpayers’ money; the public has a right to demand accountability.”

Chief of staff Vanessa Carlvet, suspended in July, denies knowledge of missing funds and claims she was targeted for resisting a R180 000-a-month service deal linked to Chief Whip Colleen Makhubele’s husband. MK’s spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said the party has passed audits and dismissed the claims as unsubstantiated.

CopperTech Metals Inc. Launches to Strengthen U.S. Copper Supply Chain and Expand Global Production

Vedanta Resources Limited has announced the formation of CopperTech Metals Inc., a U.S.-domiciled company established to address America’s strategic copper needs and capitalize on rising global demand. CopperTech will own and operate the Konkola Copper Mines in Zambia, one of the world’s highest-grade copper assets with proven cobalt reserves.

CopperTech plans to increase integrated copper production from 140,000 tonnes in FY2026 to 300,000 tonnes by 2031, with a long-term goal of reaching 500,000 tonnes annually. This expansion will be supported by advanced mining infrastructure and AI-driven resource identification and extraction technologies. The company will build on Vedanta’s existing $3 billion investment in Konkola, with an additional $1.5 billion earmarked for further development.

The launch comes amid a critical juncture for U.S. supply chain security. According to the 2024 U.S. Geological Survey, the United States imports approximately 45% of its refined copper, while China produces over 45% of global supply. The Democratic Republic of Congo accounts for more than 80% of cobalt production, with China refining over 70%. CopperTech’s operations in Zambia—an ally with strong U.S. diplomatic ties—offer geographic diversification and strategic mineral access.

According to a statement issued in New York, Anil Agarwal, Founder and Chairman of Vedanta Group, emphasized the significance of the venture: “CopperTech will play a pivotal role in connecting America’s critical mineral needs with Zambia’s historic copper legacy. This partnership will drive innovation in clean energy, technology, and industrial progress.”
.

Tom Albanese, Director of CopperTech Metals, added: “The next 25 years will require more copper than has been produced throughout all of human history. CopperTech is well positioned to serve as a strategic partner for America’s infrastructure needs.”

CopperTech’s mission to “Power the Copper Century” aligns with global forecasts from the United Nations, which project copper demand to rise by over 40% by 2040. The company aims to be a leading force in securing copper for AI, data centers, grid modernization, defense technologies, and industrial onshoring.

Regina Daniels’ brother, Lawrence slams Ned Nwoko for statement he released claiming Regina and her siblings are all drug addicts

Lawrence Ojeogwu has slammed his in-law Ned Nwoko, calling him a liar.

After Ned released a statement, claiming Regina and her brothers and sister are all drug addicts, Lawrence took to Instagram to respond.

Lawrence accused Ned of being a “liar” and a “manipulator”.

He also accused Ned of lying against actresses Sonia Ogala and Uche Montana when he accused them of being among the people who do drugs with Regina.

Lawrence also denied the claim Ned made that he is the one who sent him to the UK and also offered to send his younger brother Sammy too.

Lawrence asked Ned why he has not sent his own daughter, who is willing to travel, to the UK if he was the one who made his relocation to the UK possible.

Lawrence also challenged Ned to provide proof of sending him money, specifically the sum of $75k.

Lawrence went on to call for the release of his younger brother Sammy from detention. He told Ned that when Sammy was mobilising youths to vote for Ned, he did not see him as a drug addict but he is now tagging him one because Sammy defended Regina.
