Zambian Plane Crashes in Brazil with Drugs Worth AUD80m ($53m)

Zambian Plane Crashes in Brazil with Drugs Worth AUD80m ($53m)

…there are questions about how a pilot has been found with a motherlode of cocaine and why it’s masquerading as SpaceX merch. 7NEWS reports on the baffling murder, with 46-year-old Timothy J Clark’s body being discovered with 200kg of cocaine. Tests confirm the mystery substance as cocaine, which is said to be valued at AUD$80 million – working out at $53 million in the USA….

Australian Pilot Dies in Brazil Plane Crash Linked to Cocaine Shipment

An Australian pilot was killed when his single-engine Sling 4 aircraft crashed on Sunday afternoon (14 September) in Coruripe, Alagoas, Brazil. The aircraft, carrying about 180 kg of cocaine, went down in a sugarcane field around 1:30 p.m.

Authorities identified the pilot as Timothy J. Clark, 46, from Victoria, Australia. He was the sole occupant of the Zambian-registered aircraft, though investigators noted its markings matched a South African registration (ZU-IXM), suggesting possible falsification.

The crash site revealed more than 70 packages of cocaine, each weighing roughly 2.5 kg and marked with the blue-and-white SpaceX logo. The drugs were seized by Brazilian police, who are now tracing their origin and intended destination.

Officials reported the aircraft had been operating in Brazil for about two years without a clear record of entry. It departed without an active flight plan, and its transponder was switched off. There are unconfirmed reports that security forces had been mobilized to intercept the flight before the accident occurred.

RATSA’S TROUBLING TRIBAL HISTORY

RATSA’S TROUBLING TRIBAL HISTORY

Lets not forget  RTSA once had CEOs like Gladwell Banda and Zindaba Soko men who presided over an institutio where 81% of employees came from just three province s: Luapula, Northern , and Eastern

Under PF, this wasnot just at RTSA. The same toxic tribal pattern spread across ministries, parastatals and State House. People lost jobs not for poor performance, but for where they came from

If President Hakainde Hichilema had a tribal agenda, he would have purged those openly against him from key offices. Yet, many of these individuals still serve today some of them are even responsible for leaking confidential government information.

Thats not tribalism, that’s tolerance and unity. That’s leadership

•Compare HHs Cabinet to PFs, and the difference is clear. Under PF, appointments were tilted and exclusionary. Under UPND, the face of leadership is inclusive, diverse and national

zambia must not be deceived. PF showed us what real tribalism looks like. HH is trying to show us what true One Zambia, One Nation means

RAPHAEL NAKACINDA QUESTIONS GOVT’S SILENCE ON RTSA CEO’S LEAKED AUDIO

By Nelson Zulu

Patriotic Front Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has described the perceived non-action by state authorities to handle the alleged leaked Audio involving Road Transport and Safety Agency- RTSA- Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba as selective application of the law.

Speaking to journalists after the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court adjourned the opening of his defence to October in the matter he faces an offence of hate speech for remarks he allegedly made in 2023 criticizing voters for electing a person from Bweengwa to State House in President Hakainde Hichilema, Mr. Nakacinda says the inertia to either commence investigations or institute a commission of inquiry shows the law is only applicable to the opposition.

He has called for an immediate action on the matter, saying if such remarks are unabated, the country’s unity of purpose risks being eroded and vindicate him on the assertion that the law is being applied selectively.

And Mr. Nakacinda has warned that the scooping of by elections at ward level in Mpulungu and Lupososhi by the opposition must begin to reflect on the ruling party’s actions and not undermine the opposition in the country.

CAMEROON PRESIDENT PAUL BIYA’S DAUGHTER HAS URGED PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE FOR HER FATHER

DW Africa Reports Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s president, Paul Biya, has publicly urged Cameroonians not to vote for her father in the October 2025 election.

In a TikTok live session, Brenda—known as “King Nasty”—blamed his father’s 43-year rule for poverty, unemployment, and stagnation in Cameroon. This marks the first time in African political history that a sitting president’s child has openly opposed their parent’s rule and actively discouraged voters from voting for their parent.

Paul Biya, 92, is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders.

His presidency has been marked by allegations of authoritarianism, corruption, and contested elections.

However, critics say that Brenda, who lives abroad in luxury, has had a strained relationship with her family, raising questions about whether her views reflect the realities faced by most Cameroonians.

UPND’S RECORD-BREAKING BY-ELECTION WINS SIGNAL STRONG MOMENTUM AHEAD OF 2026

UPND’S RECORD-BREAKING BY-ELECTION WINS SIGNAL STRONG MOMENTUM AHEAD OF 2026

The United Party for National Development (UPND) continues to demonstrate unprecedented growth and support across Zambia, solidifying its position as the country’s leading political force.

Since 1991, no party has achieved the remarkable level of success in by-elections that the UPND has recorded under President Hakainde Hichilema.

In the recently concluded by-elections in Northern Province, the UPND scored a decisive victory in Chishi Ward of Nsama District, where its candidate, Pervious Kapembwa, garnered 463 out of 484 votes cast.

In Chibulula Ward, Mpulungu, the opposition New Congress Party (NCP) narrowly edged out the UPND by only 15 votes following the vacancy left by the late PF Councillor Future Sikazwe.

Meanwhile, in Mufili Ward, Lupososhi, Citizen First claimed victory, but the UPND closed the gap significantly compared to the 2021 results.

Despite a few opposition wins, the broader trend tells a different story. In 2021, opposition parties dominated these regions, commanding over 70% of the vote share. Today, their influence has shrunk to just 47%, consistently failing to reach the 50% plus one threshold. By contrast, the UPND’s support has grown steadily, including in areas traditionally considered opposition strongholds.

Since 2021, out of 17 ward by-elections in Northern Province, the UPND has won 14, achieving a winning ratio of 93%. Notably, all these victories were in former PF-held seats, and the UPND has not lost any of its existing seats during this period.

This trend marks a significant breakthrough into Northern Province, demonstrating the party’s deepening appeal and organizational strength.

The UPND congratulates all the winning candidates and pledges to continue building on this momentum ahead of the 2026 general elections. These results are more than statistics, they reflect a clear message from the people of Zambia; they trust the UPND to deliver development, stability, and prosperity.

We also commend the citizens of Nsama and all Zambians who have supported progress. By successfully penetrating opposition strongholds, the UPND has proven that the tide is turning in favor of unity, peace, and development, setting the stage for continued success in 2026.

IT WOULD BE INSENSITIVE TO PICK A LEADER BEFORE ECL IS BURIED – NAKACHINDA

PF faction Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda says it would be insensitive for the party to hold a convention before the burial of former president Edgar Lungu. Speaking on Diamond TV, Wednesday, Nakacinda said while the party desired to hold the conference as soon as possible, they did not want to be reckless.

“Culturally, even when we have not been able to discuss the fact that we are mourning, you don’t expect us as Patriotic Front to just move on when we have lost our leader, the sixth republican president, who we have not even put to rest.

Unless you are so insensitive and callous that you can just move on because there’s a quest to have a new leader.

Northern By-Elections: PF’s Shadow, CF’s Entry, UPND’s Challenge

⬆️ ANALYSIS | Northern By-Elections: PF’s Shadow, CF’s Entry, UPND’s Challenge

The three by-elections in Northern Province have laid bare Zambia’s shifting political fault lines, particularly in what was once PF’s undisputed territory.

Start with Mufili Ward in Lupososhi. Citizen First’s Getrude Chanda emerged top with 522 votes, comfortably beating UPND’s Elias Mulenga on 417, a 105-vote gap. The Socialist Party and NCP trailed far behind. For Harry Kalaba, this is his biggest breakthrough yet. CF has not just shown up; it has beaten the ruling party in PF’s stronghold. That matters. It signals that CF’s appeal is cutting into opposition and ruling party bases alike, showing viability beyond rhetoric.

In Chibulula Ward, Mpulungu, the story was razor thin. NCP’s Mumba Shadreck clinched 784 votes, only 15 ahead of UPND’s Brenda Kaoma on 769. The Socialist Party and CF were distant. But this narrow win is deceptive. NCP has no stand-alone weight here; it leans heavily on PF’s machinery. PF cadres shifted their loyalties to NCP, keeping the Tonse partner alive. Without PF’s shadow, those 784 votes would have been impossible. The win is technical, not organic.

Chishi Ward, Nsama told a different story. UPND’s Pervious Kapembwa secured 463 votes, wiping out NCP’s Jaggery Mwaba, who managed only 16 votes. The ruling party stamped authority here, showing that in some PF zones, UPND still has the structure to dominate.

What do these results mean in the aggregate? Across the three wards, UPND polled 1,649 votes, Citizen First 632, NCP 895, and SP 341. On raw numbers, UPND remains the biggest force. But these contests also show that as the ruling party pushes deeper into PF’s strongholds, the fight will not be straightforward. Losses in Lupososhi and the close call in Mpulungu are not signs of collapse, but signals that UPND must restrategize if it hopes to convert footholds into firm territory.

Citizen First walks away with momentum. Winning Lupososhi shows that it can do what many other small parties cannot, stand on its own. The NCP victory, while significant, is inseparable from PF’s silent hand. The Socialist Party remains a distant third, consistent in showing presence but not yet threatening the front-runners.

The broader trend is clear: PF’s absence from the ballot has fractured its vote into competing hands. UPND, CF, and NCP are the beneficiaries, with CF emerging as the true new face of opposition potential. For UPND, the message is sharp, it cannot take PF’s former strongholds for granted. New ground requires new strategies. For PF, these by-elections underline its weakness: without unity, its “bedroom” is now a contested corridor.

DEMOCRATIC UNION PARTY PRESIDENT ACKIM NJOVU CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL AND PROSECUTION OF RTSA CEO OVER TRIBAL REMARKS

DEMOCRATIC UNION PARTY PRESIDENT ACKIM NJOVU CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL AND PROSECUTION OF RTSA CEO OVER TRIBAL REMARKS

As President of the Democratic Union, I stand in unwavering condemnation of the tribal remarks allegedly made by the Chief Executive Officer of the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) Amon Mweemba. These comments are not only deeply offensive, but they are also a betrayal of the values that bind us together as one Zambia, one nation.

Tribalism is a poison that corrodes the soul of our democracy. When it is voiced by a public servant entrusted with national responsibility, it becomes a threat to peace, unity, and progress. The Democratic Union will not tolerate such divisive rhetoric, and we call for swift and decisive action.

We demand the following:

– Immediate Dismissal: The RTSA CEO must be removed from office without delay. Leadership must reflect the principles of inclusivity, integrity, and respect for all Zambians regardless of tribe or origin.

– Criminal Prosecution: Hate speech is not protected under the law, it is punishable. We call upon the Zambia Police Service and the Director of Public Prosecutions to initiate legal proceedings against the CEO for inciting tribal hatred.

– Institutional Accountability:  RTSA must issue a formal apology to the Zambian people and undertake internal reforms to ensure that tribalism is eradicated from its culture and operations.

Zambia is a tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions. Our diversity is our strength, not a weakness to be exploited by those in power. The Democratic Union remains committed to defending the dignity of every citizen and upholding the values of unity, justice, and equality.

Let this moment serve as a reminder: We will not be divided. We will not be silenced. We will not rest until justice prevails.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S FAILURE TO ATTEND THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY IS A MATTER OF CONCERN – KALABA

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S FAILURE TO ATTEND THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY IS A MATTER OF CONCERN – KALABA

… Says the General Assembly is a forum where Heads of State and Government, not proxies, are expected to articulate their countries’ priorities, negotiate partnerships, and strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties.

LUSAKA, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025 (SMART EAGLES)

CITIZENS’ First party –CF President Harry Kalaba says his party notes with concern the inability of President Hakainde Hichilema to personally attend and represent Zambia at the 80th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, taking place from 9th to 30th September 2025 in New York, with the high-level week beginning on 22nd September.

In a statement made available to Smart Eagles today, Mr. Kalaba said the General Assembly is a forum where Heads of State and Government, not proxies, are expected to articulate their countries’ priorities, negotiate partnerships, and strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties

Mr. Kalaba said , this development raises serious questions about Zambia’s presence and voice on the global stage at a time when critical issues affecting the nation and continent are being deliberated.

“The UN General Assembly remains the single most important platform for countries, especially those from the Global South, to assert their positions on matters of international peace, security, sustainable development, climate change, and global economic governance. This is a forum where Heads of State and Government, not proxies, are expected to articulate their countries’ priorities, negotiate partnerships, and strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties,” He said.

“For Zambia to be represented at such a high-level gathering without the President is a missed opportunity. Our people are grappling with a crippling power deficit—the worst in the history of our country—that has subjected citizens and businesses to prolonged hours of load shedding. This energy crisis is paralysing productivity, raising the cost of living, and suffocating industry,” Mr. Kalaba adds.

Mr. Kalaba who is also former Foreign Affairs Minister said President Hichilema, as the country’s Chief Diplomat, should have seized this moment on the world stage to directly lobby cooperating partners and potential investors to channel resources into Zambia’s energy sector—specifically in the construction of new hydropower generation stations, large-scale solar parks, and even nuclear plants.

“These are the long-term solutions our country desperately needs, and they require international financing, technology transfer, and partnerships that cannot be secured from Lusaka but only through face-to-face engagement with global leaders and institutions. By failing to attend, the President has squandered an opportunity to position Zambia as a serious investment destination in renewable and sustainable energy. Other African leaders will be in New York making the case for their countries; Zambia, regrettably, will not. This is not just an absence—it is a costly abdication of leadership,” he said.

“It is disheartening that once again, Zambia finds itself absent at a global table where decisive voices are needed. President Hichilema’s absence only reinforces the growing perception that this government is inward-looking, detached from the pressing realities of global diplomacy, and failing to leverage opportunities that could bring tangible benefits to our nation. Citizens First, therefore, calls upon the UPND government to explain to the Zambian people why the President has opted out of this critical engagement. Is it a question of misplaced priorities, lack of commitment to global advocacy, or an admission of failure to provide leadership in international affairs?” The CF leaders said.

Tonse Alliance’s NCP snatches Chibulula ward, UPND retains Chishi ward

A NAIL-BITING by-election in Mpulungu’s Chibulula Ward has seen the Tonse-aligned New Congress Party (NCP) pull off a shocker after edging out the rulling UPND by 15 votes.

NCP candidate Mumba Shadreck walked away with 784 votes, just a breath ahead of the ruling party’s Kaoma Brenda who settled for 769 votes.

The Socialist Party’s James Chifunda managed 132 votes, while Citizen First’s Mazimba Harrison trailed with 110 votes.

Out of the 3,631 registered voters, only 1,833 bothered to leave their homes and line up at polling stations, leaving a chunk of ballots untouched.

The seat fell vacant following the death of PF Councillor Future Sikazwe, who succumbed to a short illness on July 9.

But while NCP was celebrating in Mpulungu, the UPND was dancing in Nsama District after sweeping through Chishi Ward in Chimbamilonga Constituency.

With 484 votes cast out of 927 registered voters, the UPND’s Pervious Kapembwa bagged a landslide, scooping 463 votes and leaving NCP’s Jeggary Mwaba bruised with just 16 votes, while 5 ballots were thrown away as rejected.

UNITE OR DISBAND, CHUNGU WARNS OPPOSITION

FORMER Luanshya Member of Parliament Steve Chungu has warned that opposition political parties risk irrelevance if they fail to unite behind a single presidential candidate ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Chungu said the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) and President Hakainde Hichilema could only be defeated if the opposition presented one strong candidate to represent all parties.

He disclosed that he would soon launch a campaign dubbed “One Opposition 2026 Presidential Candidate”, aimed at lobbying leaders of opposition political parties to rally behind one candidate.

The former government chief whip cautioned that going solo into the election would only hand UPND the advantage. He stressed that Zambians were eager to rally behind a united opposition front.

Mr. Chungu said the opposition must heed the voices of ordinary citizens if they are to form government in 2026. He further noted that the UPND had lost some support even in its traditional strongholds, creating an opportunity for the opposition if they acted in unity.

He called on the opposition to agree not only on one presidential candidate but also to adopt a common candidate strategy at all levels of government.

Northern By-Elections Reshape the Map

⬆️ MORNING WIRE | Northern By-Elections Reshape the Map

Northern Province woke up today to a new political reality. Three ward by-elections, all in PF’s once unshakable stronghold, have sent a clear signal: the ground is shifting.

In Lupososhi’s Mufili Ward, Citizen First stunned the field. Getrude Chanda polled 522 votes to beat UPND’s Elias Mulenga on 417. The Socialist Party followed on 209, NCP on 95. Nine ballots were rejected. CF, a new player, now has bragging rights in PF country.

Mpulungu’s Chibulula Ward delivered the drama. NCP’s Mumba Shadreck scraped past UPND’s Brenda Kaoma by just 15 votes—784 against 769. SP managed 132, CF 110. Turnout stood at 1,833 from 3,631 registered voters. This razor-thin gap exposes just how tight the battle for Northern Province has become.

In Nsama’s Chishi Ward, UPND stood firm. Pervious Kapembwa took 463 votes, while NCP limped with 16. Five ballots were spoiled. A small race, but a reminder that UPND can still lock down the ward vote.

The bigger picture: PF’s bedroom is no longer a fortress. With PF absent from the ballot, new parties are carving space. CF, NCP, SP and UPND are testing their machines, each with a story to tell.

As 2026 draws closer, Northern Province is no longer one colour. The cracks are widening.

UPND’s Generational Dilemma

⬆️ ANALYSIS | UPND’s Generational Dilemma

The United Party for National Development (UPND) is grappling with a generational storm that has been building since 2023. At the heart of it is the question of whether long-serving MPs should step aside for younger aspirants as 2026 approaches.

The issue resurfaced this morning after Deputy Secretary General Getrude Imenda suggested veterans should exit the stage while still appreciated. Secretary General Batuke Imenda quickly disowned the remarks, insisting that adoptions are a mandate of the National Management Committee (NMC). The conflicting statements highlight the growing tension within the party.

Pressure from ambitious younger members has been simmering for years. Many argue that UPND’s appeal today is stronger because it is in power, and that this is their chance to take the reins. For them, the veterans who first entered Parliament in the early 2000s are blocking a generational shift that is long overdue.

The veterans see things differently. They endured the long years in opposition and built grassroots networks that remain vital to the party’s hold in strongholds such as Southern and North-Western Provinces. For them, the idea of stepping aside is not only premature but risks weakening UPND’s electoral base.

This standoff leaves the leadership in a delicate position. Renewing the ranks could energize the party, but it risks alienating loyal MPs and creating fractures at constituency level. On the other hand, clinging too tightly to veterans could make UPND appear stale, especially to the large and restless youth vote that delivered victory in 2021.

The NMC remains the final authority on adoptions, but today’s contradictory statements reveal how charged the atmosphere has become. As the clock ticks towards 2026, the leadership faces mounting pressure to strike a balance between loyalty and renewal.

What is at stake is more than candidate selection. It is about how UPND manages transition while holding together its fragile coalition of veterans and youth. Mishandling this process could leave the ruling party vulnerable at the very moment it seeks to consolidate power.

For UPND, this is the test of maturity in government. It must find a way to reward loyalty, embrace renewal, and avoid fractures that could cost it both credibility and seats in 2026.

Kampyongo Slams Witchcraft Case, Urges Government to Show Wisdom in Handling National Matters

Kampyongo Slams Witchcraft Case, Urges Government to Show Wisdom in Handling National Matters

….as he questions if the determinates of the Wizards case….

LUSAKA – 18 September, 2025

Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament Hon. Stephen Kampyongo has criticised the government for allowing Zambia to make international headlines for the wrong reasons, citing recent convictions of alleged wizards and the ongoing legal case involving the widow of a former Head of State.

Debating the Motion of Thanks on the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered last week Friday, Kampyongo said the justice system must reflect the realities of a modern nation and not undermine Zambia’s international image.

“I agree with him 100%. Yes, criminal matters should go to the courts, and all those clear cases,” Kampyongo said in reference to President Hichilema’s remarks on resolving some disputes outside the courts.

“But apart from business transactions that can be sorted out of court, there are also certain matters that just require collective wisdom.”

He took particular aim at the recent jailing of two people for witchcraft.

“Why should this era, Mr. Speaker, we as a country should be making headlines that wizards have been jailed for two years and so on?” he asked.

“The President has informed the nation, publicly, that he doesn’t recognise witchcraft. We were all listening. But here we are, and people are calling us now we have got witch doctors as magistrates. Because to determine witchcraft, you need a witch doctor. So now those who were determined to say those two wizards were witches are they witch doctors now working in the subordinate courts?”

Kampyongo said such cases were not only outdated but damaging to Zambia’s reputation.

“Those are the issues that have taken us to the international headlines for the wrong reasons wizards, in this era, where we are supposed to be talking about AI,” he told Parliament.

He also blasted the decision to pursue the widow of the late former President in international courts. “Wisdom, Mr. Speaker, should have prevailed over all of us collectively. We could have resolved the issue of the former Head of State here at home. It didn’t need the Attorney General to drag the poor widow into an international court, a foreign court,” he argued.

“Those are the matters, Mr. Speaker, that the President was sitting there telling us let’s take them out of court.”

While these governance issues dominated his debate, Kampyongo also addressed the President’s remarks on water and sanitation.

He highlighted Patriotic Front Government legacy projects such as the Kafue Bulk Water Supply System and the Kaflafuta Water Project, which were contracted in 2014.

“These projects, though funded through debt, were life-saving,” Kampyongo explained.

“Without them, Kaflafuta and surrounding districts would today be struggling to supply safe drinking water. Even when we criticise debt, we must acknowledge that such projects financed were not luxuries but necessities. Water is life.”

He further urged government to prioritise completion of the Kaputa Water and Sanitation project, describing it as “monumental,” and called for the reinstatement of the road contract linked to it.

WHAT IS THE POLITICAL PARTIES ACT AND WHY DOES IT MATTER FOR ZAMBIA?

WHAT IS THE POLITICAL PARTIES ACT AND WHY DOES IT MATTER FOR ZAMBIA?

By Brian Matambo – Lusaka, Zambia

For years, Zambia has called itself a multiparty democracy, but the truth is our political parties are still treated like ordinary clubs under the old Societies Act. That law was written long ago, and it does not reflect the reality that political parties are the backbone of democracy.

In 2016, the Constitution was changed, and it gave Parliament a clear instruction: pass a new law, the Political Parties Act, to guide how parties should operate. Yet almost ten years later, the law still does not exist.

So what exactly is the Political Parties Act? In simple terms, it is a law that would set proper rules for political parties. It would replace the outdated system we have now, and make sure parties are run in a way that protects democracy, promotes fairness, and reduces corruption.

One of its biggest benefits is fairness in elections. Right now, ruling parties have more money, access to government vehicles, and full control of state media, while opposition parties are left to struggle.

The Act would create a Political Parties Fund, where qualifying parties would receive money from the government to level the playing field. This way, politics becomes about ideas, not about who has the fattest wallet.

The Act would also bring transparency. At present, no one knows where parties get their money. Some rely on secret donations, sometimes even from foreign sources.

Under the new law, parties would be required to show where their funding comes from and how it is spent. This would block the entry of dirty money and stop the capture of politics by hidden interests.

Another key part is internal democracy. Too many parties in Zambia are controlled like personal businesses. Leaders stay in power without elections, and ordinary members have little voice. The Political Parties Act would force parties to hold genuine elections, include women and youths in leadership, and make decision-making more open.

Equally important, the law would protect opposition parties from harassment. Today, a government can deregister a party using the Societies Act and get away with it. With the new Act, political parties would be recognized as constitutional institutions. This means they could not be unfairly targeted or shut down.

Finally, the Act would boost the credibility of elections. If Zambia goes into the 2026 polls without it, many people will feel the process was not fair. International observers will question whether the playing field was level. Passing the law would show that Zambia is serious about building a fair and trustworthy democracy.

In everyday language, think of the Political Parties Act as the referee’s rulebook in a football match. Right now, one team is playing with boots and a friendly referee, while the other is barefoot. The Act makes sure both teams wear the same boots and the referee is neutral. That is how democracy is supposed to work.

The time for this law is long overdue. Without it, Zambia risks undermining the very foundation of our democracy. With it, citizens can finally believe that elections are about ideas, policies, and the will of the people, not about money and manipulation.

SUSPENDED MPIKA MP DESCRIBES 14-DAY SUSPENSION AS HARSH

SUSPENDED MPIKA MP DESCRIBES 14-DAY SUSPENSION AS HARSH

By Chamuka Shalubala

Suspended Mpika Patriotic Front member of Parliament Francis Kapyanga has described his 14-day suspension from the National Assembly as harsh.

The suspension, handed down by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti on Wednesday this week, followed Mr. Kapyanga’s accusation that the presiding officer often acts with bias against Patriotic Front MPs.

Speaking to Phoenix News, Mr. Kapyanga says he did not expect such a penalty, especially after he had already apologized for his remarks toward the Speaker.

He says a second apology to the House should have sufficed instead of a suspension.

Mr. Kapyanga has also questioned the timing of the punishment, suggesting it was a deliberate move to silence him during the current debate on the presidential speech, hinting at political motives behind the decision due to his typically critical stance.

THE PF GOVERNMENT WILL INVESTIGATE WHERE HH GOT THE MONEY TO EMPLOY 30,000 TEACHERS – MABUMBA

THE PF GOVERNMENT WILL INVESTIGATE WHERE HH GOT THE MONEY TO EMPLOY 30,000 TEACHERS – MABUMBA.

Former General Education Minister in PF Government has condemned the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers by UPND Government.

Addresing PF sympathisers in Mwansabombwe, Luapula Province yesterday, Hon David Mabumba said he is surprised that many Zambians are happy with the recruitment instead of digging deeper to find out where ‘HH’ got the money to employ that large numbers of teachers.

“We shall investigate this issue to its conclusive end when we bounce back in 2026 and Iam afraid, some (teachers) will be retrenched. Instead of recruiting 2,840 teachers, he recruites 30,800 just to make a name. This is unacceptable. He will be forced to tell us he got the money once we bounce back!”

LADY DID NOT SEE JOHN GENERAL’S M@NH00D ONLY CLAIMS TO HAVE “FELT IT”

LADY DID NOT SEE JOHN GENERAL’S M@NH00D ONLY CLAIMS TO HAVE “FELT IT”

ARRESTING OFFICER SHOCKS COURT: NO EVIDENCE TO PROVE JOHN GENERAL RAPED VICTIM

Drama unfolded in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court after the arresting officer admitted there is no solid clinical evidence to back the rape allegations leveled against Miracle Impact Ministries International overseer, Pastor John Nundwe, popularly known as John General.

Assistant Superintendent Wellington Fwelanga stunned the court when he revealed that medical tests did not support the rape charge. Even more startling, he disclosed that the complainant never actually saw the pastor’s manhood she only claimed to have “felt it.”

Nundwe stands accused of raping a Matero woman on November 22, 2023, allegedly having carnal knowledge of her without consent. But with the arresting officer’s testimony tearing holes in the case, serious questions are now hanging over the credibility of the accusations.

The case, presided over by Magistrate Amy Masoja Chilangwa, has left the courtroom and public sharply divided is this justice in motion, or a witch-hunt against the controversial preacher?

THE PRESIDENT MEANS WELL, BUT HERE IS A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF HOW INDIVIDUALS CAN SABOTAGE HIM

THE PRESIDENT MEANS WELL, BUT HERE IS A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF HOW INDIVIDUALS CAN SABOTAGE HIM.

ALL THE MEDICATION IS THERE AT CHOMA HOSPITAL, BUT THEY COULDN’T GIVE HER.

By Clayson Hamasaka

My mother is a passionate supporter of President Hakainde Hichilema. Since his opposition days, the old lady has never tolerated anyone attacking him in her presence.

A day before the President’s address to Parliament, she phoned from the village in Mbabala, Choma, proudly declaring: “I will be watching the address on TV.”

Unfortunately, on the day of the address, she collapsed. At first, relatives thought it was one of her recurring conditions, so they didn’t inform us immediately. By Monday, I received an urgent message: “Your mother is dying here.” I quickly made arrangements to evacuate her to the nearest health facility.

At Mbabala Clinic, there were no medicines available. Staff referred her to Choma General Hospital and my relatives requested transport money, which I sent. She was admitted, tested, and later discharged with a pile of prescriptions.

To my shock, I was told the family had accumulated a huge pharmacy bill because the hospital “had no medicines.” As a government official, this statement disturbed me, not just because it involved my mother, but because there may be many ordinary, vulnerable Zambians facing the same ordeal daily.

I therefoee escalated the matter to Lusaka headquarters. Hours later, I was informed that contrary to what my mother had been told, Choma Hospital had ample medicines, including what she needed. When I pressed further on why she had not been given the required drugs, I was met with flimsy, inconsistent excuses.

This incident revealed a deeper problem: how many citizens are deliberately denied free medication by individuals who are either corrupt or intent on sabotaging government efforts?

It is clear that certain elements are working to undermine the government’s good intentions to serve the people. Their actions may even be politically motivated.

When faced with such conduct, I urge citizens not to remain silent. Report to the authorities like I did. Let us expose and root out those sabotaging the welfare of Zambians.

Mnangagwa rejects 2028 elections delay

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has signaled that Zimbabwe’s 2028 general elections will go ahead as constitutionally scheduled, pushing back against a strong lobby within Zanu-PF to postpone the polls to 2030 or beyond.

Some of Mnangagwa’s political allies, led by Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe, had openly declared that the 2028 elections would not take place, arguing for an extended term.

However, addressing the ongoing Zanu-PF Central Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters in Harare, Mnangagwa underscored the need for the ruling party to prepare for elections within the constitutional timeframe.

“It is important that we introspect as a party of the bigger picture that we must win the 2028 harmonised elections,” Mnangagwa said. “The Central Committee must have robust and frank discussions to foster solutions in unity to realise our common vision. We must therefore do our best to foster strategies of shaping our country.”

His remarks are being interpreted as a firm directive that Zanu-PF must shift focus from internal debates over term extensions to consolidating electoral strategies ahead of 2028.

MACRONS TO OFFER ‘SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO US COURT TO PROVE BRIGITTE IS A WOMAN, LAWYER SAYS

MACRONS TO OFFER ‘SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO US COURT TO PROVE BRIGITTE IS A WOMAN, LAWYER SAYS

EMMANUEL Macron and his wife, Brigitte, are planning to present photographic and scientific evidence to a US court to prove Mrs Macron is a woman.

Their lawyer says the French president and Mrs Macron will present the documentation in a defamation suit they have taken against the right-wing influencer Candace Owens after she promoted her belief that Brigitte Macron was born male.

Ms Owens’ lawyers have responded with a motion to dismiss the claim.

Speaking to the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, the Macrons’ lawyer in the case, Tom Clare, said Mrs Macron had found the claims “incredibly upsetting” and they were a “distraction” to the French president.

“I don’t want to suggest that it somehow has thrown him off his game. But just like anybody who is juggling a career and a family life as well, when your family is under attack, it wears on you. And he’s not immune from that because he’s the president of a country,” he said.

Mr Clare said there would be “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature” and while he would not reveal, at this stage, its exact nature, he said the couple were prepared to demonstrate fully “both generically and specifically” that the allegations are false.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” he said.

“It is a process that she will have to subject herself to in a very public way. But she’s willing to do it. She is firmly resolved to do what it takes to set the record straight.

“If that unpleasantness and that discomfort that she has of opening herself up in that way is what it takes to set a record straight and stop this, she’s 100% ready to meet that burden.”

When asked if the Macrons would be supplying pictures of Brigitte pregnant and raising her children, Mr Clare said they existed and would be presented in court where there are rules and standards.

Ms Owens, a former commentator for conservative US outlet Daily Wire who has millions of followers on social media, has repeatedly promoted her view that Brigitte Macron is a man.

In March 2024, she claimed she would stake her “entire professional reputation” on the allegation.

The allegation originated in fringe online spaces years earlier, notably through a 2021 YouTube video by French bloggers Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey.

The Macrons initially won a defamation case in France against Roy and Rey in 2024, but that ruling was overturned on appeal in 2025 on freedom of expression grounds, not on the basis of truth. The Macrons are appealing the decision.

In July, the Macrons filed a lawsuit against Ms Owens in the US. It alleges she “disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists and proven defamers”.

In American defamation cases against public figures, plaintiffs are required to prove “actual malice” – that the defendant knowingly spread false information or acted with reckless disregard for the truth.

Offset laughs at Cardi B for having a kid with another man while their divorce is not finalized

American rapper, Offset, has announced that his divorce with Cardi B has not yet been finalized although the latter make it appear so.

In a post on his X page, the rapper wrote, “Divorce ain’t even finalized and you popping out another man kid.”

The once celebrity couple have been navigating their divorce since Cardi B filed for divorce in July 2024.

The pair had broken up after she alleged Offset has been cheating on her with other women including his baby mama.

The announcement about the divorce not being done comes on the heels of Cardi B’s announcement of expecting a bay with his new boyfriend.

Cardi B is currently in a relationship with NFL star Stefan Diggs. Rumors about them began in October 2024.

In February this year, the pair confirmed the suspicions after both of them were seen together at a party inside Miami.

In July, the pair were reported to have broken up but Cardi shot down breakup rumors again with a TikTok video showing off a $73,000 Patek Philippe watch Diggs gifted her.

After speculations for months, Cardi finally confirmed her pregnancy for Stefon Diggs on the CBS morning show on Tuesday.

She stated that she wanted to release the news on her own terms.

Offset who has been behind the scene all this while has not been known to be in any form of relationship since the divorce announcement.

The rapper has kept it relatively low. He has however been throwing shades at his exwife and her new boyfriend here and there.
